Kim Kardashian Is A Blonde Again (UPDATE)

We interrupt whatever you are doing to let you know that Kim Kardashian is blonde once again -- and also looks very, very tan.

"It's baaaaack!!!! #BlondeHairDontCare thanks to @SergeNormant," the 33-year-old captioned the photo of her new flaxen locks that she posted to Instagram on Wednesday, June 25:

We're not sure we're loving Kardashian's new style, which has a very wig-like quality to it. The reality star first went blonde back in September, and returned to her natural color in February. She lamented the decision to become a brunette at the time, tweeting, "I'm missing my light hair! HELP!!! What do I do? Go light again or stay dark and get used to it?"

UPDATE: Well, we said Kim's new do had a wig-like quality, and with good reason -- it's a wig.

"It's just a wig ! Looks so real though right?" she captioned yet another selfie.

Olivia Wilde Shuts Down The Author Who Thinks She's Too Hot To Play A Writer

Nice ass, no brains? According to one movie critic, (female) good looks and literary talent are mutually exclusive.

In a review of Paul Haggis' new film "Third Person," starring Olivia Wilde and Liam Neeson, GQ's Tom Carson posits that Wilde's excellent derriere makes her character's more writerly pursuits -- and simply her desire to be literate -- completely unbelievable. He writes:
Neeson and Wilde get up to some believably wayward antics: games, one-upmanship, the kind of desire for each other that comes from old acquaintance rather than novelty. She's supposed to be a writer too, but your belief in that won't outlast Wilde scampering naked through hotel corridors once Neeson playfully locks her out of his room. With that tush, who'd need to be literate? Who'd want to?

Right, Carson, because no woman might be both genetically blessed and have the desire to read, write and focus on her mind. Who knew that to be writer you had to be homely-looking? Or that looks and smarts were even related at all? But as Mic's Julianne Ross points out, Carson's glib statements -- while obviously annoying -- are even more problematic when viewed in the context of the male-dominated world of literature.

Luckily, Wilde herself stepped in to call bullsh*t on Carson's ignorant comments, via her Twitter feed:

We couldn't have possibly said it better ourselves. Smartass women everywhere, we salute you.

Pat Robertson Says Even Jesus Tattoos Are Only For Heathens

$

Tattoos are unbiblical and only fit for heathens -- even if the ink portrays Jesus or other religious subjects, according to Pat Robertson.

During a “Bring It On” segment of The 700 Club, the televangelist responded to a viewer who said his friend was considering getting a tattoo of Jesus. "Does that make it okay?" the viewer asked.

“It doesn’t make it okay because it’s religious, believe me,” Robertson responded. “I mean, it could be a tattoo of some hoochie-cooch girl. It doesn’t really make any difference.”

The Bible outlines that people cannot "mark their bodies, and cut themselves like the heathen did,” Robertson continues.

“Tattooing is heathen practice. It is not a Christian practice, to mar the body that [God] gave you. And you see people that have gone crazy on this, and their bodies are just filled with these things. It is a heathen practice, and it is prohibited in the Old Testament. So that fact that it’s Jesus doesn’t make a bit of difference.”

This isn't the first time the prominent evangelist has condemned the practice of tattooing. The topic came up in another "Bring It On" episode in 2011. A viewer inquired:

My son continues to get tattoos. Does the New Testament say anything about this? I'm not sure what I should tell him.

Robertson responds similarly, claiming that the New Testament outlines the marking of the body as a sign of heathenism. He goes so far as to call body marking a "satanic" practice. "Why would your son do this?" he says.

In this exclusive audio montage I talk with gay and straight celebrity filmmakers at the 16th annual Provincetown International Film Festival press luncheon.

First, Killer Films co-founder and producer Christine Vachon (Far From Heaven, Boys Don't Cry), along with filmmakers Antonio Santini and Dan Sickles, talked about Mala Mala, Killer Films' feature-length documentary about the power of transformation told through the eyes of nine trans-identifying individuals in Puerto Rico.

Next I talked with Debra Winger (Terms of Endearment, Rachel Getting Married), who received the Faith Hubley Career Achievement Award.

Then I talked with writer and director David Cronenberg (The Fly, Videodrome, A History of Violence), who received this year's Filmmaker on the Edge Award.

I also talked with all the celebrities and filmmakers about their spin on LGBT issues.

Then director Tom Dolby talked about his film Last Weekend, which opened the film festival. The film stars Patricia Clarkson (Pieces of April, Far From Heaven), who received the Excellence in Acting Award.

Next, director John Waters talked about his new book Carsick, which is currently on the New York Times bestsellers list. Waters was also very generous in his advice for new filmmakers.

HBO's new documentary The Case Against 8, which is currently premiering on the cable network, was screened. I caught up with Prop 8 plaintiffs Kris Perry and Sandy Stier, who talked about their experience being filmed for five years leading up to the Supreme Court decision that found Prop 8 unconstitutional. We also chatted about what it was like to work with the legal team of Ted Olson and David Boies, and what effect the experience had on their family.

Then I talked with filmmakers Fermin Rojas and Bruce Donnelly about their documentary Alumbrones, which addresses the work and lives of 12 contemporary Cuban artists living in Havana today. Through in-depth interviews the film covers a range of subjects and issues, from supply shortages to constant blackouts and how the artists are able to create their canvases in spite of these extreme hardships. Rojas and Donnelly also discuss their next project, which chronicles the establishment of the first gay men's choir in Cuba.

Open Letter to Celebrity Moms: What's In MY Bag

$

Dear Celebrity Moms:

I love reading about what's in your bags. I really do. Because it makes me feel like, you know, we're practically the same person. It's sort of uncanny, actually, the overlap between the stuff in our bags. In fact, it seems the only significant difference is how I'm toting a roughly 7-year old, beat-up, sippy-cup-milk-stained purse and you're, well, not. But hey! Besides that, we're all just moms battling it out for the sake of survival, right? And the junk in our purse, well, those are the ties that bind.

And frankly, I think you guys are missing out. We all get to read about what's in YOUR bags on a regular basis, but no one gives you the same opportunity to feel that connection, that bond, with US. And so, on behalf of all the non-celeb moms out there, I want to give you a quick peek into what's in my bag!

1. Super-luxe, pearly-iridescent, pressed face powder. Oh no, wait. On second glance, I believe that's roughly, and I'm just spitballing here, about one third of a cup of ground up Cheerio dust. Or maybe crushed fruit bar remnants? It's hard to know for sure because I haven't given either to my children in a few weeks. But it's one of those two. Probably. But don't quote me on that.

2. All-natural, jojoba-infused, gluten-free, essential-oil, nude-tinted lip balm with SPF 50. Oh sh*t. I think my oldest actually stole that to bring in to school and then let her friends borrow it and so I never got it back. Hold up, Angelina -- I know I have something in here that fits the bill. Wait, what's this? Oh yes, the faux-strawberry-flavored, princess-themed, knock-off chapstick my daughter got in a goody bag from that party last summer. It's half-melted and your guess is as good as mine about where the cap went, but I'm sure it's in here somewhere.

3. Approximately seven expired coupons and/or past-due reward bucks to Old Navy, Children's Place, Gymboree, Carter's and Banana Republic. See! There's one for me! Kimye, for reals. You and I are to fashion like Willow Smith is to Instagram. Controversial. Cutting edge. Needing to buy clothes for the folks around us.

4. Dainty forehead-oil dabbers. Mila, and here you thought you were the only one with an expectant glow requiring some mid-day touch ups? Think again! I mean, sure, I bought these beauties 10 years ago with the full on intent to keep my face shine-free and primarily use them now as back-up diaper wipes when I've forgotten to replace the empty packet, but still! And please, don't worry about being embarrassed to be seen with me and my forehead sheen. I've always got a (only slightly-used) tissue shoved in the top of my bra to dab at the baby's daycare-induced non-stop faucet nose. Can use that in a pinch, no prob!

5. Orchid and baby's breath, Vitamin D-enriched, cooling body spray mist to freshen up when I'm on the go. OK. This time I lied. I don't. I do, however, have a Shout on-the-go wipe to get out the prune/oatmeal mush the baby wiped on my shirt during breakfast on those (daily) occasions when I don't notice it's there until I'm walking into work. And there is, of course, the extra deodorant in my desk drawer for the days I just plum forgot to put it on. Or to shower. OK, OK, you caught me again! I may have chosen not to shower to save time. But only for two days, three max.

And anyway, I digress -- we can totally cover the junk in my desk drawer another time. And Gwyneth, you were so right on. Having all these goodies available in my desk drawer is just another perk we office moms have over you traveling celeb types. But we can still hang, right? I mean, we haven't even gotten to the binder clips that serve double-duty as back-up hair clips AND half-eaten potato chip bag clips! Wait, is that you calling now? Hold on, hold on, looking for my phone, should only take me a few minutes to find it here, keys, no, McDonald's happy meal toy, no, ugh. Missed the call. Try me again, kay? Kay.

Smoochies,

Kim Kardashian's Video Game Makes The Quest For Fame Seem Tedious And Exhausting

$
0
0
I spent a couple of hours playing Kim Kardashian's newly released iOS game, "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood," and all I learned is that the quest for fame and fortune -- specifically when you don't have actual talent -- is tedious and exhausting.

It's fitting that the goal of the game is to rise from a lowly store clerk to a bonafide celebrity by gaining fans and working your way up from the E- to A-lister status -- because who knows the ropes better than Kim Kardashian?

After downloading the (thankfully) free game on my iPhone, I was able to customize an avatar to vaguely resemble myself, and begin my journey to stardom. After working a shift at the So Chic boutique, adjusting mannequins and folding shirts, my avatar finally got to lock up for the night. Who should appear then but Kim K of course, asking if the store was still open. (Of course! Anything for you, Kim.)

After hooking Kim up with a hot red dress (that I had to insist on not charging her for), she invited me along to a photo shoot. Of course she tells me to wear something "dressier" than my old crop top and jeans, and I changed into a body-hugging white cut-out dress, that Kim actually wore on a date night with Kanye back in October.

Players gain fame by completing tasks, so after helping out at Kim's photo shoot, she set me up with a manager, who later hooked me up with a publicist. During the course of the game I'm introduced to various models, moguls, paparazzi and more people who can allegedly help me on my journey to the A-list. I'm repeatedly asked if I want to either flirt with or network with any of these people, and each choice affects my future. Later, Kim tells me that one way to gain fame is to date other famous people. Because, duh.

kim kardashian video game

One progressive aspect to the game is that my avatar was actually asked which gender I was interested in dating, before I met up with a male model of Kim's choosing.

kim kardashian game

Over the course of the couple hours I played the game, my avatar did three photo shoots, walked a runway show, worked two shifts folding clothes, started a feud with another celebrity wannabe, went to a club opening in Miami and threw a drink in said wannabe's face, was photographed by the paparazzi and took the bus between Downtown LA, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and LAX dozens of times. (Why my avatar wasn't practical enough to save for a car while living in Los Angeles is beyond me).

When all was said and done and I could no longer stand all the phone calls from my manager Simon telling me a gig materialized, I was exhausted. Yes, trying to get famous while having no talent is really tiring. That also might explain why my avatar was repeatedly told that I didn't have enough energy to finish my tasks, and was asked if I wanted to purchase -- with real money, naturally -- more stars that would give me energy. (You didn't think a Kardashian would put out a game that was completely free, did you?)

In the end, the constant travel and repetitive nature of the fame game itself -- coupled with my avatar's lack of energy (aka my lack of willingness to shell out actual cash on the game) -- kept me from ascending to the top of the A-list. But you know what they say, it takes money to make money. Which is something the Kardashians know all too well.

Perhaps what is saddest about the game in general is how much it likely mirrors Kardashian's own life, with an endless string of photo shoots, promotional duties and club openings. It's a reminder of exactly what she has to do every day to make sure the world still knows she exists.

That Time Dave Chappelle Gave Questlove A Late-Night Pitch For 'Purple Rain: The Comedy'

One of the few people privy to the comedic mind of Dave Chappelle is his friend Ahmir Khalib Thompson, better known as Questlove of The Roots. When Quest and his bandmate Black Thought joined HuffPost Live's Marc Lamont Hill on Wednesday, he shared one of Chappelle's ideas that never made it past the brainstorming stage.

"He often gives me these random, late-night phone calls, and one time he said, 'Amir, I got it. Purple Rain: The Comedy.' He damn near acted out all the parts in a 20-minute description. He's like, 'But just make it a comedy,'" Questlove described.

The Roots, who recently joined Chappelle during his run of performances at Radio City Music Hall, also speculated on whether the elusive comedian will ever return to television.

Lana Del Rey Hits Number 1 On Billboard 200 With 'Ultraviolence'

Lana Del Rey shut down the haters when she nabbed the number one spot on the Billboard 200 album charts this week with the release of "Ultraviolence." The new album debuted June 17 and beat out premieres from Sam Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Deadmau5, Linkin Park and Willie Nelson.

According to Nielsen SoundScan, Del Rey sold 182,000 copies of "Ultraviolence" between June 17 and June 22. Billboard reported that this is the largest album sales week for a female artist since Beyonce's self-titled visual album. This was also Del Rey's best sales week ever.

The 28-year-old singer's first album, "Born To Die," came out in January 2012 and peaked at No. 2 with 770,000 sold in its first week. It hit 1 million in sales in February of this year.

Sam Smith's "In The Lonely Hour" came in behind Del Rey at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 166,000 copies sold. According to Billboard, that's the largest debut for a solo artist's first album since Phillip Phillips released "The World From The Side Of The Moon" in Nov. 2012.

Del Rey's success comes in on the heels of a controversial interview conducted in the Guardian in which she admitted she wished "she were dead already." She responded to the quote on Twitter, saying the paper twisted her words and she "regrets trusting" the British outlet. In response, the Guardian published a recording of the interview. Maybe everyone can just chill now, and enjoy the bizarre beauty of "Ultraviolence."

'True Blood' Actor Luke Grimes Quit Over Gay Role (REPORT)

When it was first announced that actor Luke Grimes had left the cast of "True Blood," it was allegedly over creative differences. Now, a new report claims those "differences" stemmed from a gay plotline.

Buzzfeed reports that Grimes -- who previously played James, the vampire boyfriend of Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) -- quit because the Season 7 script of the vampire-centric HBO show included a romance between his character and the openly gay Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis). A source told Buzzfeed that Grimes was willing to play the role so long as "Lafayette [was] attracted to him, but not if the attraction was mutual." He also supposedly objected to any same-sex kissing or sex scenes, but the writers wouldn't change the script.

Grimes' publicist, Craig Schneider, told Buzzfeed the 30-year-old dropped the show over scheduling and chose to pursue other opportunities, including "Fifty Shades of Grey" and "American Sniper."

Schneider was not immediately available for further comment when contacted by The Huffington Post.

TVLine was the first to report Grimes' "True Blood" exit last December. HBO told TVLine it was due to "creative direction." The website dubbed the move "unexpected."

“He initially joined the show because he wanted to work with [his 'Forever' co-star] Deborah Ann Woll,” a source said. “But when he started reading the scripts for Season 7, he was disappointed to learn that they were going in a completely different direction with James.”

Grimes was cast as Christian Grey's brother, Elliot, in the film adaptation of E L James' erotic novel last October. The film began shooting in Vancouver in December.

Cam Gigandet Slams His 'O.C.' Co-Stars: 'Those Kids Were F--king Miserable'

It's been seven years since teen soap "The O.C." went off the air, but this week the show proved it can still be a source of drama.

In an interview for Elle magazine's "Hot Guy/Cold Drink" series, Cam Gigandet spoke illy of his time playing Kevin Volchok on the show. While admitting he's a big fan of Ben McKenzie as an actor, the "Burlesque" star said the two did not get along on set.

"Actually Ben McKenzie was kind of mean to me. I hadn't done anything at that point and he was a little bit of an ass," the 31-year-old said. "But I love him. I think he's a great actor and I love 'Southland.'"

Gigandet played the love interest of Mischa Barton's character Marissa Cooper, but during the interview, he avoided going into depth about his feelings toward the actress.

"Mischa? I didn't really ... Was she there?" he joked. "I don't even have memories of her."

Since appearing on "The O.C.," Gigandet has moved on to appear in such films as "Easy A" and "Twilight," and will play a leading role in the upcoming CBS drama "Reckless." But from his place of current success, does the actor look back at the time spent in that specific little part of California as a useful stepping stone in his overall career trajectory?

"I learned a lot," Gigandet said. "But the things that I remember now -- none of them are good ... Those kids were fucking miserable," he continued. "They were just -- they would not remember their lines on purpose. They were young. That said, I don't talk to anyone I've ever worked with."

Miranda Lambert Tries To Have A Positive Body Image: 'It's All About Who You Are On The Inside'

Miranda Lambert is a full-blown country music star, and now, thanks in part to her husband Blake Shelton's success on "The Voice," she's a household name.

But the 30-year-old Texas native, who got her start on the 2003 season of "Nashville Star," is still adjusting to the pressures of Hollywood, especially since her face is planted on the cover of every tabloid.

"It was sort of out of nowhere, I mean, we're country singers, you know, we make albums, we go on tour, we spend a lot of time in Nashville and a lot of time in Oklahoma in a town of 3,100 people and he gets on 'The Voice' and suddenly it was like a page turned and we get on the tabloids and on the front of magazines with breakup rumors," Lambert told HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri on June 26. "So, it took a while to get used to, it kind of caught me off guard. But now I just accepted it because I realized it wasn't going to stop and I realized that it doesn't change my life ... People don't believe it at this point, and we can laugh about it."

Lambert has also been making headlines for her weight loss, which she noted was the result of simple lifestyle changes including "good old-fashioned don't eat Cheetos and get moving." She also had a little help from fellow celebrity Britney Spears, who's famous figure was her motivation.

"I just picture her hot body in all the videos," Lambert laughed. "I'm like, 'C'mon, keep running!'"

The "Automatic" singer also says that it's nice to have famous females supporting each other and attempting to be positive role models for younger women.

"We have a lot of pressure on us, so it's good to support each other," Lambert told Camilleri. "We put it on ourselves a lot -- trying to look the part and be as good as we can and be a good role model and stay in shape and take the criticism when we're not." Still, Lambert tries her best to stay positive and set a good example.

"I just am who I am and whatever you think a role model is," she explained. "I may be a good role model because I just am always positive about body image: Just be who you are. It doesn't matter what size, it's all about who you are on the inside and what you stand for. Believing in what you believe in and speaking it out. But yeah, I have tattoos and I cuss and I drink and I’m just a country girl, so I’m not a model citizen, but I try to be a good person."

Matt Murdock’s best buddy is here.

On Thursday, Marvel that announced Elden Henson will play Foggy Nelson, Murdock’s best friend and legal partner, in its upcoming “Daredevil” series on Netflix.

The character, who is plucked directly from the comic books, plays a vital role in most of the hero’s major story lines.

“Elden plays one of the most important characters in the world of ‘Marvel’s Daredevil,’ and we’re thrilled to see Foggy Nelson brought to life by such an incredibly talented actor,” Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, said in the announcement.

As The Hollywood reporter notes, actor Jon Favreau played the character in the 2003 “Daredevil” movie staring Ben Affleck.

Henson previously appeared in “The Mighty Ducks,” and he has an appearance in the upcoming film “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.” He’ll be joining fellow “Daredevil” cast members Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio, who are set to play Matt Murdock (Daredevil) and Wilson Fisk (The Kingpin), respectively.

All 13 episodes of Marvel’s “Daredevil” series are set to release all at once on Netflix sometime in 2015.

Rosario Dawson will soon go from sinful to devilish.

The “Sin City” actress was recently cast in Netflix’s upcoming Marvel series “Daredevil,” Entertainment Weekly reports. Dawson’s specific role has yet to be revealed though it is expected to be recurring.

Netflix ordered 13-episodes of the superhero series, which will be executive produced by Steven S. DeKnight and stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock (a.k.a Daredevil) and Vincent D’Onoforio as Wilson Fisk (a.k.a The Kingpin).

On Thursday, Marvel Entertainment revealed via Twitter that “Hunger Games” star Elden Henson would star as Murdock’s best friend, Foggy Nelson.

Dawson is also set to star in the film sequel to 2005’s “Sin City.” The actress plays Gail in the movie based on the graphic novel series penned by Frank Miller, who coincidentally also worked on the “Daredevil” comic.

Director Robert Rodriguez helped Miller bring “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For,” set to premiere August 22, to life on the silver screen. During a recent interview on The Tonight Show, Dawson explained to host Jimmy Fallon why she was glad the two didn’t wait any longer to make the second installment of the series.

“It was amazing to get back and be able to get back into this character again and I was really glad he wasn’t pushing it back too much further ‘cause I was like ‘Dude, I don’t know how long I could wear that outfit. I mean it fits into the palm of my hand, c’mon guys’,” Dawson said.

It's not easy for country superstars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton to find alone time between their nonstop careers and hectic touring schedules.

"We gotta schedule it in," Lambert told HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri when she sat down with him on Thursday.

So how does the country-singing couple unwind in their downtime? In pretty much the most country way possible:

"We backroad -- we take our cooler, we take our dogs, we ride four-wheelers and we just sit on the porch. We started fishing because it's spring now," Lambert said.

"That's why we live where we live [in Oklahoma]," she added. "Because it's absolutely opposite of our crazy life on the road."

Kyle Beckerman has been showing off his skills in the World Cup on the U.S. Men's National Team -- an incredible feat to say the least.

Even more incredible? The fact that Beckerman took some awesome engagement photos with his now-wife Kate Pappas back in October and we only just discovered them.

Pappas and Beckerman met in 2009 and the midfielder popped the question in January 2013. The super-good-looking couple then married in January 2014, right before Beckerman had to to head out for Team USA training.

As for the adorable engagement pics? They were snapped by Matt Clayton Photography at Rio Tinto Stadium, the home field for Beckerman's MLS club, Real Salt Lake. The couple also got a few shots in nature that show off Beckerman's outdoorsy side. Enjoy!

In case you're curious, here's Kyle at his January wedding with some other U.S. soccer players in tow, including Nick Rimando, who posted the pic.
