First she teased us with a cryptic announcement, then she gave us a little more to work with and now she's gone and taken the lid off the whole darn thing.

We're talking, of course, about Gwyneth Paltrow and her collaboration with designer bestie Stella McCartney. The actress has teamed up with the Brit for a line of clothing and accessories sold exclusively on GOOP, Paltrow's lifestyle site. But the touche finale of the exciting project has to be the video of the launch party the actress posted along with her GOOP announcement, which features Paltrow planting a friendly kiss on her so-called "sister" McCartney.

Providing us plebeians with an inside look into the celebratory English Garden Party in the Hamptons, the video features a bevy of A-list celebrity cameos, from Sarah Jessica Parker to Cameron Diaz to Paul McCartney. Between the lawn games and the yummy snacks, we can honestly say that this is one garden party we would've liked to crash.

Watch the video above!

Gwyneth has had quite the fashion journey:

Kennedy Center Honors Latinos, Making Amends After Public Spat

The Kennedy Center is making amends with the Latino community.

The prestigious arts organization honored guitarist Carlos Santana and opera singer Martina Arroyo this year, a year after the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts took the Kennedy Center to task for consistently passing over Latino candidates for the distinction.

“It’s better than Fourth of July, Christmas, Thanksgiving and Valentine’s,” Santana, 66, told the New York Times.

The Mexican-American rocker is perhaps best known for his classic “Oye, Como Va?” Santana exploded onto the national scene after playing at Woodstock. He’s won 10 Grammys and sold 100 million records, the Times reports.

The Washington Post refers to Arroyo as one of a “generation of opera singers who broke the color barrier at the Metropolitan Opera” in New York. The 76-year-old artist was raised in Harlem.

With the awards, the grand total of Latino Kennedy Center Honorees now reaches four over the organization’s 35 years. The other two are sings Plácido Domingo and theater actress Chita Rivera.

Piano legend Herbie Hancock, pop musician Billy Joel and actress Shirley MacLaine rounded out the list.

The Kennedy Center retooled its method for selecting honorees after the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts blasted them for only awarding the top honor to two Latinos over the program’s history. The organization faced further criticism after the press reported that Kennedy Center President Michael Kaiser told NHFA director Felix Sanchez by phone to “go f*#k himself.”

Kaiser apologized for the remark.

Nicole Kidman is reportedly pressing charges against a paparazzo who knocked her down after slamming into her with his bike this afternoon (Sept. 12) in New York City.

Kidman was returning to the Carlyle Hotel after attending the Calvin Klein show for New York's Fashion Week when photographer Carl Wu came speeding down the sidewalk, according to Us Weekly. He was reportedly trying to get to the hotel in time to snap photos of Kidman's arrival. Witnesses tell TMZ that Wu tried to slow down as he came closer to Kidman, but he crashed into her and she fell to the ground.

Keith Urban's wife was allegedly furious and said that she was going to press charges. She called the cops shortly after the incident occurred.

The Huffington Post has reached out to Nicole Kidman's team for a comment and will update the story once one comes through.

Why Do Gay Men Historically Adopt Female Stars as Their Icons?

$

An acquaintance here in San Francisco informed me that these women are not merely icons: These heroines are veritable patron saints!

When a little boy who is destined to grow up straight has a poster of his favorite sports star, superhero, or astronaut on his bedroom wall, we may conclude that he admires and identifies with him and perhaps even wants to be his icon in some way.

But what about me? Did I want to be my female heroines?

I have pondered this phenomenon since I first realized I am gay. As a young child of 10, I would shut myself away during the weekends, curtains closed in the living room, and watch the triple bill of films on Saturday-afternoon BBC TV: Bette Davis. Marilyn Monroe. Judy Garland. Joan Crawford. The judo expert Emma Peel, portrayed amazingly by the inimitable Diana Rigg, in the UK-produced spy spoof The Avengers; I definitely wanted to be Emma Peel when I was 9 years old. Samantha from Bewitched was a favorite, though I secretly admired her delightfully meddling and wicked mother, Endora, the most!

In adulthood we discover that other gay men had adopted these women in exactly the same way in childhood. Why do we, as individuals, gravitate to women, even the same women, before we are part of a gay scene, and before we are swept up in any collective gay groupthink?

The most noted and revered of gay men's icons are inevitably quirky or uncommonly beautiful and always talented. They portray a vulnerability that is often wrapped up in strength in the face of adversity. Lurking behind the glitz they may have troubled personal lives -- perhaps their lives are tainted by emotional turbulence -- and sometimes a subtle sense of pathos filters out from just behind the eyes.

Women who have been iconized by gay men are often hysterically funny too. The tragic element alongside high-camp humor are common denominators: the heightened or exaggerated characters they play, or the personae they choose to project, portraying a life at high frequency, top volume. We also gravitate to the characters the actresses play so brilliantly, such as Bette Davis in roles where she is often feisty and strident but also misunderstood and deeply vulnerable in the final analysis.

While pondering our icons, I decided to reach out to two university professors who have written about gender and sexuality issues with regard to gay culture.

Heather Love, a professor of English at Pennsylvania University, received her B.A. from Harvard and her Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. Her research interests include gender studies and queer theory. Professor Love cautioned me against overanalyzing the issue. When I asked her about her take on "camp" and the female icon, she said:

Esther Newton writes, "Camp humor is a system of laughing at one's incongruous position instead of crying," and I think that is pretty apt. The charge of camp is a result of social exclusion -- both the suffering and the insight that come from being an outsider.

She continued:

I am a bit wary of "pscyhologizing," [which is] one step away from "pathologizing" the camp impulse in gay men.... [O]ne can analyze this attraction [to female icons] in terms of what these figures represent: a highly stylized femininity and toughness combined with abjection, a kind of overexposed and highly theatrical situation of longing and self-making.

Professor Love went on to say that she feels that gay men gravitated to, for example, Joan Crawford because that is what gay men do -- "it is part of being a gay man" -- but I was left with more questions than answers.

Is there more to it?

Is it "pathologizing" to embrace the fact that we are different and delve deeply into why? As gays assimilate into the mainstream, it is often unpopular to champion our own individual and collective quirkiness. Do we lose something in the process of acceptance? I question the notion that gay men gravitate to female stars and pedestalize them simply because a lot of people like them: In order to be inducted into the gay men's hall of iconic fame, women need certain qualities over and above being female, for sure, but it is evident that being female is the one prerequisite.

Is it a joy of gender-bending, a phenomenon that is a perhaps a distant second cousin of transgenderism, as evidenced by the historical popularity of drag artists and drag performance in the gay subculture? Are gay people in the twilight zone of gender more than we acknowledge, or is there a simpler explanation?

Professor Love rounded off our chat by saying:

I guess I just think that the real difficulty here could be more social than psychic. Being a woman is a social identity as well as a psychic one; a lot is wrapped up in that identification, including simply not being in a position of social dominance. But you are right: It is a minefield!

I am wary of being too wary of analyzing the gay-icon phenomenon, because I think it has something to do with gender-bending and perhaps even wishful thinking on the part of gay men. I was nervous of my hypothesis, but why?

Professor Love says that gay men choose women because women are marginalized, so gay men identify.

But wait!

Marlon Brando and James Dean are lesbian icons. If part of the gay issue is to identify with those who are maligned or oppressed, then why do lesbians elevate Marlon Brando and James Dean to iconic status? Brando and Dean and the qualities they emanate hardly come off as oppressed. This would throw a curve ball to the notion that gay men iconize women because, historically, women have been marginalized.

David J. Leonard is an associate professor in the Department of Critical Culture, Gender, and Race Studies at Washington State University. I asked him why he thought gay men adopt females as icons, and he said:

The women often said to be icons are most certainly women who don't necessarily fit the script of femininity and sexual appeal within media culture. These women challenge and refuse to fit into this sort of commodity culture. They enter into media culture through their own script, their own definition of self. I think these qualities are celebrated and admired, especially within communities that are also depicted and treated as outsiders, as undesirable, and not "normative." Icons transcend generations; icons come to represent a broader cultural movement or genre, but most important, as icons, their visibility crosses community and generation, [whereas] "popularity" is ephemeral and is specific to a moment.

I think there is a difference between a star who simply happens to have many gay male fans and a star who is a bona fide gay patron saint, and I wanted to conclude with this: I fell in love with Olivia Newton-John when I was 11. She is a star with many gay fans -- I discovered on my 40th birthday, when I went to see her perform in Las Vegas, that she has a huge gay following -- but arguably, she's not quite a gay icon. I have watched several interviews in which she is asked why she thinks she has such a loyal gay male following, and her reply is interesting: "I am not a threat."

Kelly Rowland's Abs Steal The Spotlight On Shape Magazine Cover (PHOTO)

It's been said that abs are made in the kitchen, and if singer Kelly Rowland's six pack has anything to say about it, the theory is certainly true.

In a feature for the October issue of Shape magazine, Rowland reveals her weakness when it comes to maintaining her cover-worthy physique.

“I love food so much, all I have to do is look at it and I gain 5 pounds," she told the magazine.

But instead of looking at food as the enemy -- one of the 23 things HuffPost Women suggests we all stop doing -- Rowland is making some simple (and delicious) tweaks:

"I’ve come up with these variations on some of my favorites that give me the flavor I’m craving in a healthier way. When I want a steak, I grill some portobello mushrooms and put a little goat cheese on them. When I make fish tacos, rather than flour tortillas, I use butter lettuce leaves. And I’ve learned to satisfy my sweet tooth by replacing Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups with half a tablespoon of almond butter on half a banana.”

And Rowland isn't only eating her way to a more killer physique, the "X Factor" judge explained in an interview with US Weekly last year that she works out between five and six times a week, spending an astounding 45-minutes on her abs. But she adds that her penchant for journaling also helps her maintain her overall health:

“Self-reflection is so healthy. Journaling works for me -- when I record the details of what I’m going through, whether it’s a relationship issue or negative thoughts, I can look back and see how far I’ve come. It makes me proud to see my progress and how I got through a bad situation.”

Rowland's been on a roll reflecting on self as of late. In June, she tearfully broke down on stage during a performance of her single "Dirty Laundry," opening up about an abusive relationship.

"When I was writing [the song], I thought my story of abuse was too personal to share, but my manager reminded me that so many women are in similar situations—and that as an artist I’m supposed to be vulnerable,” Rowland told Shape.

The same month, she divulged feelings toward her former group-mate Beyonce, calling the singer's success "hard to watch."

Notoriety aside, Rowland's undoubtedly keeping up with Queen Bey on the fitness front.

Check out more of her cover feature in the October issue of Shape magazine, which hits newsstands Thursday.

'Clueless' House, Site Of The Raging Party In The Valley, Can Be All Yours (PHOTOS)

The house that was the site of the raging party in the Valley in the 1995 cult classic film "Clueless" just went on the market for $825,000. A contemporary Granada Hills, Calif. home, at first glance at the listing, you'll see the typical desirable features of the area: It's on a large corner lot, has high ceilings, a double-sided fireplace, and a large pool and basketball court.

But the detail that the listing fails to mention is one that (if you grew up in the '90s) you're sure to flip over: The "Clueless" connection!

At 3,974 square feet, this five-bedroom ranch is where Cher had beer spilled on her heels, Murray had his head shaved and where Tai almost got a concussion. Although, it seems that the countertop that Elton helped her up on has since been upgraded to granite.

We spoke with listing agent Kate Christensen who confirmed that the real estate was in fact featured in the '90s flick. The address also appears in Curbed's Ultimate Clueless Guide in case you would like to tour the rest of their 'hood, including Cher and Dionne's homes, Travis' skateboard park and, of course, the mall.

Katie Couric: Love and Marriage

Journalist and talk show host Katie Couric has happily confirmed her engagement to John Molner over the Labor Day weekend. She reports that she was "stunned" when the financier proposed but has made no secret of her excitement. The two began dating in the Spring of 2012.

Katie, who lost her first husband Jay Monohan to colon cancer 15 years ago when he was just 42, was open about her hopes to remarry one day. She has had a handful of relationships over the years but never seemed to find "the one." She dated American businessman Tom Werner for four years starting in 2000, and had a one year romance with musician Chris Botti that ended amicably in 2005. Katie also dated Brooks Perlin, an entrepreneur, who was 17 years her junior. She and Perlin were together nearly five years but again decided things weren't meant to be.

Katie told People magazine, "I knew that I wanted this... I made it a priority, and I pursued it with some purpose." She is a good example to anyone out there hoping to find love and marriage. She knew without a doubt that she wanted to have and be a partner again. It is so important to hold on to the vision of what we want for ourselves, as she did. In order to do that, keep your eye on the ball. Be willing to do the heavy lifting which in this case means putting yourself out there. Even if you wish you could stay home, make the push because the person you end up meeting that night might be the one, or might become a friend who has a great brother. It increases your opportunity to make connections you won't make if you stay home and watch TV. Also, let others know what your goal is, and ask them to help by thinking about whom they know who might be a good match for you. But that alone isn't enough. You have to circle back around and follow through making sure your number was given, or that you can get a number, thereby closing the deal and setting up a possible meeting, which is just what Katie did.

Be willing to take a risk. Katie had a variety of different relationships, and dated one man who was much younger. She didn't lock herself into a certain type, but was open to various possibilities. You, too, should try to remain open to meeting new and different people along the way. Have patience and know that when you commit yourself to whatever it is you want, it clears the way for another person to be able to commit to you as well.

For all of you out there looking for love and commitment, Couric is a role model. It would have been so easy for her to give up and say the time in her life for romance is over, but she didn't let that happen. Even after a few break-ups, she didn't get discouraged. She is a testimony to the power of perseverance.

As my great Aunt Rose used to say, it may be a long time in coming, but it will come. Here's to its being Katie's time, and may the best be yet to come.

Drake's 'Wu-Tang Forever' Is Way More Drake Than Wu-Tang (AUDIO)

Drake's "Wu-Tang Forever" song hit the web Thursday evening, just as a massive thunderstorm sent New Yorkers scurrying for cover. I was stuck somewhere with nothing better to do than to listen to the track a few times, and here's what I noticed about the song as lightning lit up the sky and the sound of a million teary Drake fans whimpering cracked through the night.

1. Drake's still seemingly unable to have sex without feeling conflicted. That might seem endearing, except the woman he's having sex with in "Wu-Tang Forever" is (of course) your girlfriend. They're just doing it "out of spite."

2. Drake's ready to flex on those who are less fortunate than him, but he's still not quite going full blast. Here's his biggest boast of the tune: "I just get a rush when I see your enemy in the club and realize he's not in a position to reciprocate your energy."

3. Drake thankfully isn't going to let "Started From the Bottom" dictate a faux-struggle rap tone for the rest of the album. On that track, he delivered a sonically powerful but ultimately laughable play-by-play of rising up from "the bottom," where there was -- wait for it -- "traffic on the way home" and a mom who was down to "argue every mornin.'" Here, he plays it a little straighter: "I find peace knowing that it's harder in the streets, I know / Luckily I didn't have to grow there /I would only go there cause there's n----s that I know there."

4. The song samples Wu-Tang's "It's Yourz," and Drake snags the lyrics "Machine gun raps for all my n----s in the back / Stadium packed, just glad to see the city on the map" from Raekwon's opening bars.

Seems like "Nothing Was the Same" won't see the rapper leaving his core themes (feeling a certain way about sex and women, coming up, speaking to a certain demographic, singing) behind. And for his fans, that's a good thing.

"Wu-Tang Forever" is available as an instant download for users who pre-order "Nothing Was the Same" on iTunes.

Ray Dolby Dead: Founder Of Dolby Laboratories Dies At 80

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Ray Dolby, an American inventor and audio pioneer who founded Dolby Laboratories, has died at the age of 80.

The company said Thursday that Dolby died in his home at San Francisco. He had been living with Alzheimer's disease for several years and was diagnosed with acute leukemia this summer. Dolby founded his namesake company in 1965 and grew it into an industry leader in audio technology. His work in noise reduction and surround sound led to the creation of a number of technologies that are still used in music, movies and entertainment today. The innovations also turned Dolby into a rich man with an estimated fortune of $2.3 billion, according to Forbes magazine.

"Today we lost a friend, mentor and true visionary," Kevin Yeaman, president and CEO of Dolby Laboratories, said in a statement.

Yeaman said that Dolby invented an entire industry around delivering an experience in sound. His work ranged from helping to reduce the hiss in cassette recordings to bringing "Star Wars" to life on the big screen in Dolby Stereo.

Dolby held 50 U.S. patents and won a number of notable awards for his life's work, including several Emmys, two Oscars and a Grammy.

He was awarded the National Medal of Technology from President Bill Clinton and was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in the U.S. and the Royal Academy of Engineers in the U.K., among other honors. In 2012, the theater that serves as home to the Academy Awards was renamed the Dolby Theatre and the Ray Dolby Ballroom was named in his honor.

"Ray really managed to have a dream job," said Dagmar Dolby, his wife of 47 years. "Because he could do exactly what he wanted to do, whichever way he wanted to do it, and in the process, did a lot of good for many music and film lovers. And in the end, built a very successful company."

Dolby was born in Portland, Ore., and his family eventually moved to the San Francisco peninsula. It was there that he started his professional work at Ampex Corp. working on videotape recording systems while he was still a student.

After graduating from Stanford University, he left Ampex to study at Cambridge University. Following his time as a United Nations adviser in India, he returned to England and founded Dolby in London. In 1976, he moved to San Francisco where the company established its headquarters.

Dolby's co-workers described him as inspiring and thoughtful man, who cared passionately about engineering.

"To be an inventor, you have to be willing to live with a sense of uncertainty, to work in the darkness and grope toward an answer, to put up with the anxiety about whether there is an answer," Dolby once said.

He is survived by his wife, Dagmar, his sons, Tom and David, their spouses, Andrew and Natasha, and four grandchildren.

Dolby and his wife were active in philanthropy and supported numerous causes and organizations. The Ray and Dagmar Dolby Regeneration Medicine Building at the University of California, San Francisco's Stem Cell Center and the Brain Health Center at California Pacific Medical Center were opened with their support.

His family described Dolby as generous, patient, curious and fair.

"Though he was an engineer at heart, my father's achievements in technology grew out of a love of music and the arts," said Tom Dolby, son, filmmaker and novelist. "He brought his appreciation of the artistic process to all of his work in film and audio recording."

The album is led by McCartney's latest single, "New," which made its debut late last month.

"It's funny, when I play people the album they’re surprised it’s me," McCartney said of the project. "A lot of the tracks are quite varied and not necessarily in a style you'd recognize as mine. I didn't want it to all sound the same. I really enjoyed making this album. "Every time I went in [to Vera Wang] for a fitting, I couldn't stop getting one," she said. "It's just too pretty."

She left the stunning strapless number sans caption, and let the photo do all the talking.

On Twitter, however, Teigen did reveal a little more, writing:

On his end, Legend posted a few snaps to his Tumblr blog. In one, Teigen can be seen in a different, mermaid gown. He also posted a photo with the caption "Pre-gaming with the groomsmen."

Rita Ora added another tattoo to her collection last week.

The singer and her model friend, Cara Delevingne, stopped by celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang McCurdy's studio to get inked Wednesday night. While Delevingne got a tattoo of her mother's name, Ora got a giant illustration of a topless woman on her rib cage.

McCurdy told E! News that Ora's ink is "the most detailed tattoo" he's ever done on a celebrity, adding that it's a "realistic version of a Vargas painting of a pinup girl."

And just how big is big? "When she's standing it's about 7 inches tall, but when she's laying down it's about 10 inches," he explained.

Ora posted a photo of the new artwork to her Instagram and wrote :"Say hello to my new little friend Rosetta...thank you @bangbangnyc she's beautiful."

'Naked As We Came' Premiere: Ryan Vigilant, Benjamin Weaver, Lué McWilliams And Karmine Alers Debut Film In New York

An unexpected, mid-September thundershower didn't dampen spirits at the New York premiere of "Naked As We Came," Richard LeMay's stunning new film about love, loss and the delicacy of family ties.

Though "Naked" has already nabbed a number of awards at film festivals in San Francisco, Palm Springs and Atlanta, the movie's starring foursome -- Ryan Vigilant, Karmine Alers, Lué McWilliams and Benjamin Weaver -- appeared particularly jubilant to present the film before an eager audience of Manhattanites on Sept. 12. (Check out the film's trailer above)

"This is the premiere I've been waiting for, because we all met in New York," noted Vigilant, whose acting résumé includes stints on "Gossip Girl" and Lenox Avenue," among other roles. Noting that his "Naked" role was his first lead in a feature film, he added, "It was a true test of my endurance. The movie was kind of born here, so it feels like a cap in a way."

"Naked" focuses on Laura (Alers) and Elliot (Vigilant), two siblings who return to their childhood home to re-connect with their ailing mother (McWilliams), who is in the final stages of terminal cancer. The pair is surprised to find that not only has Mom taken up smoking marijuana in addition to arts and crafts, she's also acquired a dashingly handsome new housemate, Ted (Weaver). Elliot quickly discovers that Ted's domestic talents aren't limited to the kitchen as the two men begin a smoldering affair, but his mysterious new beau has a hidden agenda of his own.

Check out photos from the premiere of "Naked As We Came," then scroll down to keep reading:

Though the movie has received most of its acclaim on the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) festival circuit, "Naked As We Came" has cinematic aims that go well beyond the sexuality of its principal characters, and refreshingly so, as the film ultimately serves as a complex portrait of a tormented family finding strength and courage in what is unquestionably a tumultuous circumstance. The tension of the plot is juxtaposed against the backdrop of a pastoral New England estate, but each member of the ensemble cast turns in an equally solid performance, highlighting the subtle nuggets of humor in LeMay's script.

The film was a very personal one for writer-director LeMay, who said he was inspired by several close friends who lost parents over the course of a year.

"I started thinking about what I would do if I knew one of parents was going to die," he said. "It's a pretty dysfunctional family, but I think dysfunction can also be funny, if you stand back and let it be."

Noting this his aim was to "make a movie that wasn't focused entirely on gay themes or gay issues," LeMay added, "I don't think that [being gay] is the issue in this case; the issue is really just that they're human."

Weaver echoed those sentiments, noting, "I think the message is about identifying what your real dream is, and having the courage to go after that, but also knowing that it's not always so easy to articulate that, and it might take some false starts before you figure it all out."

After its week-long theatrical run, "Naked As We Came" will be released on DVD in October. For more information, click here.

LONDON, Sept 15 (Reuters) - British indie rock group Arctic Monkeys seized the top spot in the British albums chart on Sunday with "AM", their fifth consecutive studio album to debut at number 1, sales figures showed.
The Official Charts Company said the group, from Sheffield, England, had sold more than 157,000 copies of their album in the first week, making it the second fastest selling album of the year.
They were the first indie-released act to achieve a fifth debut number 1 in British chart history, it added.
Last week's number 1, The 1975, the self-titled album by another English indie-rock band, was pushed to number 3, behind British alternative trio London Grammar, at number 2 with their new entry "If you wait".
In the singles chart, U.S. singer Katy Perry held onto the top spot for a second week with "Roar", which has sold more than 280,000 copies.
U.S. band OneRepublic took the second spot with "Counting Stars", their highest charting UK single to date. (Reporting by Andrew Osborn; Editing by Robin Pomeroy)

"I feel like dressing is fun, but it's also art," the 35-year-old told the Wall Street Journal at the event. "So I don't like to dress and think 'Oh, I'm going to be the coolest one.' It's not about calling attention. It's about being an artist in every way shape or form and utilizing all the resources you have around you."

Saldana showed off her impossibly long legs in Longchamp short shorts and taupe pumps, but her most interesting accessory remained under wraps.

Last week, news broke that Saldana may have tied the knot in a secret ceremony last June and is now married to Marco Perego. In all available photos from yesterday's event, the stunner is seen with her left hand in her pocket. Not once did she give photographers a glimpse of her rumored wedding band.

How about a little peek, eh Zoe?

Jack, a contender on the new season of "Dancing with the Stars," wore khakis, flip flops, a flannel shirt and a baseball cap. Stelly wore black spandex, a white tank top and running shoes.
