Kelly Osbourne Dishes On Her Dad's Recovery

In the new issue of Cosmopolitan, Kelly Osbourne opens up about her father's addiction and her own struggles to stay clean.

The 28-year-old says that although Ozzy Osbourne admitted to falling off the wagon, she's nothing but supportive of him and looking forward to his recovery.

“I love and respect that he’s honest enough to say, ‘Yes, I did this. It was my fault.’ He’s a real man. Most people would hide, and he doesn’t," Kelly explains of her dad, who revealed in April that he had been drinking and doing drugs over the last couple of months.

"It doesn’t make me love him any less," she continues. "It took a long time to get to that place, but I understand it now. And my mother does too."

Rumors were swirling that Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne were getting divorced following his announcement, but the couple insisted that couldn't be farther from the truth. They were recently spotted kissing and cuddling on the red carpet at "An Evening With Women" benefitting The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center at the Beverly Hilton Hotel earlier this month.

"We had a TV show about this. Now people are trying to act like it’s a new story," Kelly says of the reports about her family's issues. "It made me break down and cry when my parents rather than the Boston Marathon were on the cover of the British newspapers. People lost their children from a terrorist attack, and that’s superseded by this bullshit story that is not even real.”

As for herself, Kelly admits that, like her dad, she struggles every day with addiction.

“He’s an addict; I’m an addict. It’s going to be one of those things we battle for the rest of our lives," she confesses. "I take the necessary precautions. If you’re not happy and healthy, it’s not worth any of it. Everyone says sex, drugs, and rock and roll are fun. It ain’t fun. It is not something to glorify.”

Still, the "Fashion Police" star is focusing on the good things in life, including her boyfriend Matthew Mosshart.

“He just wants to love me, and I just wanted to be loved by him," Kelly tells Cosmo of Mosshart. "Every single other guy I’ve dated has wanted something from me. They’d call people I know and ask for favors. I’d have to say, ‘Trust me. Telling someone you are my boyfriend isn’t going to get you very far.”

So, is Kelly ready to settle down and start a family?

“I do want babies," she says, "but I don’t want a great big vagina.”

PHOTO: Gisele Works Up A Sweat For Vogue Brazil

Last week, we learned that Gisele Bündchen loathes being retouched for fashion shoots. So it's fitting that the cover girl graces the June 2013 issue of Vogue Brazil looking more natural than ever.

No, we're not referring to Gisele's two-month post-baby body (which is jaw-droppingly fit, of course). We're referring to the model mom's super-slick skin: Gisele looks sweatier than a basketball player in the images shot by longtime collaborator Mario Testino. While another shoot might have photographed a model looking powder-fresh, Testino captured his model's extreme sheen. With zooming text, wet hair and bare limbs, Gisele looks more like a (leather-clad) Olympian than a fashion mag star -- and we're kind of loving it.

Check out Testino's sporty shot of the world's most powerful supermodel below, and tell us: Do you like Gisele's worked-up look?

Ilene Kleinbaum: Hashtag Welcome Back, Bachelorette Fans!

After three long months, The Bachelorette has finally returned! Desiree Hartsock, (the lovely wedding dress designer from Sean Lowe's season), pulls up to the Bachelor mansion and is greeted by none other than Chris Harrison. After giving her the grand tour, Chris hands over the keys to a pretty sweet ride. Des goes for a spin, checks out her new city, and then chats with Chris about what she's looking for this season.

Des is looking for love -- so let's find it!

We're personally introduced to a handful of men, including Bryden, the military man; Will, the high-fiving, hot yoga-loving banker; Nick, the tailor/magician; Zak, the drilling fluid engineer who stands on his balcony naked; and a few others.

But time is running out, and Des needs to meet these men. She changes into a long silver gown and takes her place outside the mansion as the man-toting limos arrive.

I really wish I knew how the producers encourage the men to meet our bachelorette -- do they tell them to admit how nervous they are or persuade them to come up with the corniest and/or most memorable introduction?

Among the most memorable:

• Kasey, the social media fanatic who speaks in hashtags and admits he cyber-stalked Des (another Kasey with a K? #iknewyouweretroublewhenyouwalkedin)
• Jonathan, who hands Des a fantasy suite card upon shaking her hand (which she immediately declines)
• Zak, who exits the limo shirtless and asks, "Will you accept these abs?"
• Larry, who tries to teach Des to dance but ends up ripping her dress instead (and cursing himself as he walks into the mansion)
• Diogo, who steps out of the limo in a head-to-toe knight-in-shining-armor costume
• Juan Pablo, the Venezuelan soccer star who has Des tongue-tied (she actually is unable to pronounce his name)
• Micah, who tries to impress the fashion designer with a homemade suit, complete with a "designed by this guy" logo on the back
• Brody, Ben's adorable son who pops out of the limo and hands Des a rose before being handed over to Grandma, and Ben, Brody's (adorable) father.

Once all the men are inside, Des makes her "thanks for being here and good luck" toast and sets out to meet her husband.

Nick the magician announces to the group that he's going to make the lovely Des disappear... by stealing her for some one on one time. Corny yet clever.

During Ben's one on one, Des finds out that Brody (his son) was the product of two friends just... having a kid. Somehow, they connect, and Des gives Ben the first rose.

Shirtless Zak, standing alone in the kitchen and whining about how he hasn't gotten any alone time with Des, decides to strip down (even more) and cannonball into the pool for some attention. This stunt earns him a (pity) rose from Des, pinned to his pants. Whatever works, right?

Jonathan, still on his fantasy suite kick, steals Des away for a second time to chat and invites her to his lair homemade suite. She politely turns him down again, and he escorts her back to the other men. Clearly not getting the hint, he then steals her away for a third time, leading her by the hand to the suite. Des, feeling highly uncomfortable, firmly puts her foot down and says no. She sends him home, on the spot, and he is whisked away in a windowless white van. No comment needed.

Several of the men have been awarded roses already, and Des hands out the final few.

Among the unselected: Larry the dress ripper, Nick the Magician, and Diogo the Knight in Shining Armor. I have to say, I'm not surprised at her selection.

Previews of the coming weeks show beaches, boats, and brawls... and a whole lot of tears (from the guys, too!). As Kasey might say: #it'sgoodtobeback!

Ex-NFLer Doesn't Like Justin Bieber's Driving

Justin Bieber may be auditioning for a spot in the "Fast And Furious" franchise.

According to TMZ and E! Online, officers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Departmen visited the singer's home after complaints were made regarding allegations Beiber was driving at a "startling high rate of speed" with children nearby. One of the complainants was reportedly former NFL star and current ESPN football analyst Keyshawn Johnson.

There's no word if Bieber was given a warning, but it's not the first time the singer had a domestic situation. In March Bieber was accused of spitting in a neighbor's face and uttering threats after he got into a reported altercation. It's also not the first time Bieber's been accused of putting too much pedal to the metal.

Bieber made no mention of the latest incident on his Twitter account. L.A. County Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore told TMZ the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney.

Kardashians Get The X-Rated Treatment In Porn Parody

Kim Kardashian already has a sex tape under her belt, but the rest of the family is about to get the X-rated treatment.

TMZ reports that a Kardashian family porn parody is in the works, and everyone including Kris Jenner, Khloe, Kourtney -- and even Kanye West -- are about to be spoofed by the adult entertainment world.

According to the website, porn star Kiara Mia will make her directorial debut with the explicit re-imagining of the reality TV show "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."

And while there are apparently no plans to reshoot Kim's sex tape with Ray-J, the film will feature a Ray-J character who makes an appearance during a sex scene between the Kim and Kanye characters.

Of course, the Kardashians are not the only TV stars to get the porn treatment, and Hustler just announced last week that a parody of the HBO show "Girls" is also in the works. While the Kardashian clan has yet to comment on being spoofed, "Girls" star and writer Lena Dunham wasn't too pleased to learn of its existence:

No word on what the Kardashians' porn parody will be called, but we're thinking something along the lines of "Keeping Up With The KardASSians" could work.

Carlos Alazraqui Flies Into Disney's 'Planes' As El Chupacabra

It’s not a bird, it’s not a superhero, it’s Disney’s “Planes” that hopes to soar into theaters this fall and win over fans who eagerly welcomed the “Cars” franchise with a new 3D animated comedy for the aviators at heart.

The feature film will take off alongside Dusty (Dane Cook), a crop duster plane who dreams of becoming the world’s best air racer but must overcome a paralyzing fear of heights, among other obstacles, before he can succeed.

Among the high-flying cast is “Reno 911’s” Carlos Alazraqui (as El Chupacabra), who along with Mexican-American comedian Gabriel Iglesias (as Ned & Zed), gives voice to Dusty’s competition.

As the voice of “El Chu,” the Argentine-American actor bring to life a Mexican racing legend and casanova whose over the top attitude matches his falling hopelessly in love with fellow racer Rochelle (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). In a recent interview with Alazraqui, the actor told HuffPo a little more about his love-struck Latino character and the animated flick set to land in theaters on August 9.

HP: Tell us about your character

He is “muy apasionado”, he is very gregarious, machismo, ex-performer, telenovela star, recording artist, he has “mucho sabor”, he has positive energy, a person who just loves life, he is the world’s most interesting man.

HP: He is like the Casanova, the Latin lover…

He thinks of himself like a Casanova, but when it comes to Rochelle he needs help, he is passionate he needs to learn how to refine it, he has so much passion that it is too much for Rochelle .

HP: He comes from Mexico, he is Mexican… Why a Mexican?

I think because of the sort of glorious history of the Aztecs and the temples, because it portrays somebody strong. The man with the cape, the lucha libre character that brings honor. The version of the samurai, there is a lot of honor in the competition. He is so brave and honorable.

HP: Why do you think they chose that name?

In the movie they explain that “El Chu” is a name designed to instill fear in his opponents. That’s just his stage name, his lucha libre character. He believes that it strikes fear in his opponents, but of course he’s wearing a cape and a mask and they think he’s ridiculous.

HP: What is the importance of the character in the movie?

On the surface he’s the comic relief. In terms of the story he befriends Dusty right away. Because he has this lucha libre respect for other opponents, when all the other planes are looking at Dusty as this little crop duster, he says 'no, I am new to this world and you are new and we will be friends, I can tell.’ When Dusty runs into some problems, because they have this honorable friendship, and because Dusty has helped El Chu in matter of romance, he returns the favor.

HP: How do you think Latinos are being seen in movies now? What is the importance they have been getting in movies?

It is a reflection of the change in demographics of the country. Nowadays they are trying to embrace multiculturalism, I think it’s more a reflection of a general acceptance of the Latin culture and how important it is. I like the fact that el Chu is a heroic character; he is not the bad guy. The bad guy is ironically portrayed by Gabriel Iglesias, a Mexican doing a white character.

HP: Do you feel being Latino in the US has or hasn’t helped you develop your career?

It is something I embrace. Being in this business got me to embrace my Latino roots, before that I was just American, just a comic, my first cartoon had nothing to do with being Latino. When I had the chance to do Latino stand up, that is when I started to connect with [Latino things]. Sometimes in Hollywood it works against me, because my name is Carlos but my last name is of Jewish origin. You know I’ll go out for Latino roles but they’re looking for a Mexican, or a Guatemalan.

I benefited from being sort of neutral white. Especially for voice overs because I can portray a Latino character, I can do all these characters without boundaries of how I have to look. Being Latin and acknowledging that has helped me tremendously business wise. My name has helped me get more Latino characters…

HP: Is there a "Planes 2" planned?

Absolutely it is it is already on the way. Chu is in "Planes 2."

The "Cars" franchise has grossed over $1 billion for Disney around the globe, but in lieu of "Cars 3," here comes "Planes" to consider.

First conceived way back in 2010, Disney will release "Planes," a spinoff that takes place in the "Cars" universe, later this summer. The new film focuses on Dusty, a cropdusting plane who must overcome his fear of flying to compete in an aerial race. Dane Cook lends his voice to Dusty, with stars like Val Kilmer, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Teri Hatcher, Brad Garrett and John Cleese providing vocal support as well.

The Hardest Thing Sheryl Crow Has Ever Done

$

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For a couple of months now, Sheryl Crow has been loading her two young boys aboard a bus and taking off on a tour of country music radio stations around the country.

She's visiting with DJs and programming directors, playing a few songs live, then hopping back on the bus to do it again a few hours down the road. It reminds her, fittingly, of a scene from "Coal Miner's Daughter," the life story of Loretta Lynn.

"It really is like the scene where Doo zips up Loretta's dress and she runs in with her new acetate, her 45, and says, `Here's my new record,' and she plays something on air, shakes a few hands and leaves," Crow said. "It really is a throwback to that and it's the most organic thing I've done in years."

The image is fitting. It was Lynn's handwritten note asking Crow to appear with the honky-tonk queen on the 2010 Country Music Association Awards that started this journey toward the genre for the 51-year-old singer-songwriter. She has a single, "Easy," at country radio and will release her first country-oriented album, "Feels Like Home," on Sept. 10.

Crow recently spoke with The Associated Press about her new album, life in Nashville and continued questions about her former relationship with Lance Armstrong.

When Crow finished that performance with Lynn and Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley met her backstage and beseeched her to come home to the format she really belonged in. She'd had some success at country in the past, teaming with Kid Rock on "Picture" in 2002. The song was a modest hit and even scored them a vocal event of the year nomination at the 2003 Country Music Association Awards.

Crow thought about it and Paisley's message took hold. But it meant she would have to change things up and embrace Nashville's country music culture. Eventually, he helped kick start the new record, suggested producer Justin Niebank and introduced her to songwriter Chris Dubois, who served as a co-writer and informal song editor. She changed her songwriting tack, looking to match the more visceral, story-telling style of the genre.

And no one succeeds in country music without courting radio – thus the bus. Most of country music's biggest stars started that way and Crow – 20 years after releasing her first album, the five times platinum "Tuesday Night Music Club" – didn't see herself as exempt, no matter how many millions of albums she's already sold.

The first day of radio tour she hit larger markets like Knoxville and Chattanooga in Tennessee, Atlanta, Orlando, Fla., and some privately owned stations in smaller towns, too. One day, three states. Welcome to country.

"I say that it's fun, but it's the hardest thing I've ever done," Crow said. "Because sitting on the bus and only getting the gratification of only playing like a couple of songs, and then driving for two more hours and then getting to play a couple more songs. It's really hard, but it's great, you know? ... I've felt really embraced."

The aptly titled "Feels Like Home" serves as a figurative mile marker in her personal life as well. The title could easily refer to her new life in Nashville, where she moved seven years ago after beating breast cancer. She's since adopted two young sons, Levi and Wyatt, and settled into the creative community. Her kids go to school with the kids of other artists – she recently held a fundraiser for a local school – and they all see each other at church.

"It's really idyllic," she said. "And the other great thing about it is I can get off the airplane and there's no paparazzi."

One fly in that ointment, however, has been persistent questions about her past relationship with ex-fiance Armstrong and what she may have known during her relationship with the disgraced cyclist who recently admitted to doping. She made brief remarks during an "Entertainment Tonight" interview at the time of the admission, but has not addressed it since – and says she won't.

"The only thing I would say about Lance is that his story is completely his own and has nothing to do with my life, and so I don't speak about it," Crow said. "I was asked a question on a TV show once, which caught me off-guard, and I feel like I kind of answered it, and that's all I can say about it. It really has zero relevance, and I'm sorry that people still want to attach me to that, but it holds no relevance to my life."

These days her life is more about blending in, something she can do in Nashville. Crow, who appears on "The Voice" on Tuesday night, embraced the Music City lifestyle in the studio, too. Each song of her eighth album's 12 tracks was co-written with another songwriter, a first. She brought in old songwriting friend Jeff Trott, but she also worked with Nashville songwriters and even enlisted Paisley to co-write a song, "Waterproof Mascara."

"I made Brad Paisley write a chick song about being a single mom," she said excitedly.

Niebank, a Grammy-winning producer and engineer, said Crow had the framework for the songs in place and despite the new direction displayed the self-assuredness that led her to pop stardom and beyond at the height of her career.

"I know it seems odd, but when I grew up the greatest musician in the room should be the person with their name on the album," Niebank said. "They should be the best person in the room by a mile. And nowadays on a lot of records they're not the best person in the room. They have to be technically manipulated and everything, but there's a lot more celebrity and PR manipulation to make them an artist. She's the exact opposite of that. She actually runs the session. That's how great musicians work."

T Bone Burnett, the "Nashville" musical director who recently worked with Crow on the Stephen King-John Mellencamp project "Ghost Brothers of Darkland County," thinks her shift of focus is a natural one.

"Well, she's from Missouri – that's just about as country as you can get," Burnett joked. "So, I think she fits great, especially with what's going on now in country music. At this point, she's kind of a traditionalist in the country world."

Back in Nashville, Crow talked about the new album as she drove to the gym for a gymnastics class with her 3-year-old. She wasn't worried about her makeup or prying eyes and can go to the grocery store any time she wants.

"It wasn't until I moved here that I realized what an amazing community it is," she said. "It's the thing I've been missing my whole career, the feeling of being able to sit around with a guitar and have people know each other's songs and know songs from people who've influenced all of us. When I moved here pretty early on Vince Gill started calling me to do guitar pulls, and I thought, gosh, this is just like heaven on earth down here."

Rather than being a "Paperback Writer" or "Day Tripper," Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has opted to go with the role of photographer, and has released over 100 never-before-seen images of the legendary band.

The intimate photos, which will be published in the new e-book, Photograph, were all taken by Starr in the 60s, though the former bandmate insists the images were fairly recent finds.

According to People, Starr discovered many of photos in boxes which belonged to his now deceased mother. "We thought, 'I wonder what she's got!'" he tells the magazine.

Why Viggo Mortensen Turned Down 'The Hobbit'

When "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" hit theaters in December, fans were treated to the sight of some familiar faces from "Lord of the Rings," including Ian McKellen and Elijah Wood. One "LOTR" favorite, however, was noticeably absent from the latest film: Viggo Mortensen.

The 54-year-old actor played Aragorn in the original trilogy, and had a chance to reprise his role in the Peter Jackson's prequel trilogy, but chose not to participate -- mostly because his character doesn't appear in the J.R.R. Tolkien source novel.

"Before they started shooting, back in 2008, one of the producers did ask if I would be interested," Mortensen told The Guardian. "I said, 'You do know, don't you, that Aragorn isn't in The Hobbit? That there is a 60-year gap between the books?'"

Mortensen has kept busy in the years since "LOTR" hit theaters. He recently appeared in the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's "On the Road" and stars in the upcoming film "The Two Faces of January" with Kirsten Dunst and Oscar Isaac.

WATCH: Furries Dance To A Song About Being On Crack (NSFW)

Ottawa rock band Silvergun & Spleen released a new music video for the song "Crack" today, but it has far less to do with controversial Toronto mayors than what might be Sesame Street After Dark. Or a masochistic version of "The Muppet Show."

The three-minute, sixteen-second video starts out innocently enough as a series of people in furry mascot outfits/animal costumes enter a hall and dig into the buffet and drink. The band — with sisters Marie-Eve and Veronique Mallet dressed in bunny costumes — perform as the animals look on and dance.

However, a minute in things take a different turn, with simulated foreplay as tails are slapped across backsides and other tails being suggestively swung around. From there it's an all-out simulated orgy with plush bears on top of each other, a gorilla being Danny Brown-ed and a rabbit and panda gettin' down. We won't try to describe what the tiger is doing with the elephant's trunk.

Silvergun & Spleen have been quite busy tweeting the video link to various celebrities including Howard Stern, Seth Rogen, Ke$ha and others with hashtags like #crack #toronto #canada #robford.

Moscow's Top Court Rejects Pussy Riot Appeal

MOSCOW -- Moscow's highest court has rejected an appeal by punk group Pussy Riot against their sentence for a protest against Vladimir Putin.

Moscow City Court chair Olga Yegorova said Wednesday that she had upheld the group's conviction last year for "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred" and denied the case was politically motivated, Russian news agencies reported.

Pussy Riot lawyer Irina Khrunova told the Associated Press she would appeal to Russia's supreme court.

Maria Alekhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, and Yekaterina Samutsevich scandalized Russia after performing an impromptu protest in Moscow's main cathedral. A Moscow court jailed all three, but Samtusevich was later released on appeal.

Alekhina went on hunger strike last week to protest what she calls an official harassment campaign against her in prison. Courts recently denied her and Tolokonnikova parole.

Tom Green: Did Steve Jobs Ruin the World?

$
0
0

Steve Jobs is considered an amazing genius and made billions of dollars. Sure we overlook that he didn't pay his share of taxes and didn't believe in charity. But other than these occasional rumblings of dissent he is pretty much held in high esteem. We celebrate him because he invented incredible computers and phones to interact with the Internet and supposedly fix our mundane lives. And now we are addicted to these machines with most people under the age of twenty hardly remembering what the world was like without them.

The dirty little secret that nobody likes to talk about is that things just might have been better before the Internet. We had more time to ourselves before cell phones, and text messaging, and Facebook consumed our lives. But you don't hear many people making the argument that Steve Jobs could have ruined the world. That just isn't sexy on the technology blogs.

Instead we hear the purveyors of modern thought preach about how the Internet and social media have brought people closer together and changed the world for the better. About how it has freed oppressed people in Egypt and in other places. But are we in the Western world even as free today as we were twenty-five years ago? How can we be free when we are prisoners to social media, in a world without privacy? How can we be free when our every movement is tracked and every conversation is recorded and can easily be held against us? How exactly are we free if we are tethered to our cell phones?

And even worse, the human condition is beginning to devolve. We have become addicted to the vanity of social media unable to stop exposing our lives to the world. We post photos of ourselves pretending to be happy on Facebook and speak in 140-character tweets to people we don't know and will never meet in person. We have an emotional dependence on constant text messages from people that we have not seen in years, but still claim to be our friends? Is it pure freedom when these things consume our minds?

Before the cell phone and the Internet you felt a more pure sense of liberty than we do today. Whenever you left the house, and the phone, in your kitchen attached to the wall, nobody was able to get a hold of you. When you walked home from school you were alone with your thoughts, free to explore in the woods or skip rocks along the water of some lonely riverbank. Nobody could find you. You were actually alone. People were able to leave the pressures of life behind. Work would end at five o'clock. We were not pursued by a non-stop stream of electronic information scolding us about things still left to do.

Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates have become the rock stars of our generation, The Beatles of our time. So nobody in the right mind would want to forcefully suggest that technology could have ruined the world. That just wouldn't be hip. Technology is the new rock and roll. Railing against it may make you look like some old fogey from the 1950s, aghast at Elvis for shaking his hips on The Ed Sullivan Show.

And yes, we love Steve Jobs because he is an artistic and at times poetic technical genius. But could the true genius of Steve Jobs be that he invented a product that costs $600 and needs to be replaced every six months? Could the true genius be how he surreptitiously ripped us all off? It's as if the John Lennon of our times held us up at gunpoint and robbed us all blind.

Unfortunately our generation is so impressed by rags to riches stories and self-made billionaires that we are unwilling to address the fact that these assholes are screwing us. Instead we find these people inspiring. In this self-centered modern society we no longer thumb our nose at the oligarchs. Instead the corporate-controlled media has programmed us to believe that with enough hard work and dedication, we too could someday become rich assholes and screw everyone around us. So we don't say anything and hold on to the impossible hope that someday we will make it into their echelon.

Life as a human being on this planet changing. Our minds need instant gratification. There is so much information available at our fingertips that television networks and movie studios will soon become a thing of the past. Why go to the trouble of seeing a work of art in the cinema when you can instantly look at a cross-eyed cat stick its tongue out on your iPhone? Why do we need to watch actors read other peoples words on that antique piece of furniture called the television? We can look at an actual drugged up out-of-work actress stumble out of a nightclub on the Internet and tell us what she really feels. And watching these people publicly unravel makes us feel better about ourselves anyway. So we celebrate the train wrecks by gobbling up their failures and spreading our erroneous opinions about them online. We don't have to wait to get home to do it either. We can be vindictive shitheads anywhere simply by loathing into our iPhones. Technology is making regular people mean.

Sure this isn't entirely new. We've always enjoyed a good fall from grace. Human beings have always reveled in driving our geniuses into early graves. The Internet has just made this so much easier. Look what happened to Elvis and Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson and Kurt Cobain. We loved to watch people lose it all. Hell a good high-profile death has always been great for ratings, even before the Internet came along. But now we don't have to wait till the evening news to enjoy watching other people fail. Thanks to Steve Jobs for giving us our smartphones. Now we now can enjoy reveling in other people's misery 24 hours a day from any corner of the earth.

Thank you Steve Jobs, and Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg for making Schadenfreude convenient. It's as if we are enjoying the spectacle so much that we haven't noticed the cameras are now pointed at us. Who is laughing now?

We have no privacy anymore and there is no room for error. Now every time we leave the house we have a cell phone or security camera recording our image. We live in a world where our mistakes are documented online and can never be taken back. Our friends and neighbors can now happily laugh at every one of our misfortunes. There are no secrets anymore. A negative comment about every living soul on this planet is now just a Google search away. Everyone is a celebrity now and will have to get used to being treated like one, with a healthy does of disdain.

Today if you make one mistake and it winds up on the Internet there are no second chances. Perhaps F. Scott Fitzgerald predicted our future when he said "there are no second acts in American lives." We have to be careful. Being so easily documented and published for the world to see is very new, and we can't possibly understand the full implications. Every citizen with a camera phone is like a member of some new Orwellian Gestapo. Make one mistake and it will haunt you forever. Life was more forgiving before all this electronic crap. Call me crazy. But I preferred the old days when only our close friends and family knew that we were assholes.

It would be nice to think that somebody out there had a solution and that things are not as dire as they seem. But maybe there is no solution. Perhaps we are too far-gone in our addiction to technology and social media. It's doubtful anyone wants to return to the days of the horse and buggy. It's a pretty good bet that there is no turning back and the old world is ruined.

Thanks Steve Jobs, for ruining everything.

NEW YORK — Never-before-seen photos of the Beatles by Ringo Starr will be included in his new book, titled "Photograph."

An e-book will be published June 12 in conjunction with the upcoming Grammy Museum exhibit, "Ringo: Peace & Love," in Los Angeles, Genesis Publications and Starr announced Wednesday. Select images from the book, which also includes unpublished images from his personal archive, will be displayed at the exhibit.

A limited-edition hand-bound book signed by Starr will be available in December.

Starr's photographs and stories "portray four lads from Liverpool, trying to live normal lives amidst the frenzy that surrounded them," the statement said.

He previously published "Postcards From the Boys."

The Offer She Turned Down

It's a big week for James Lipton. Not only did he appear in the fourth season of "Arrested Development," which hit Netflix on Sunday, but the 250th of his Bravo series "Inside The Actors Studio" airs Wednesday night.

And while the hit talk show has boasted A-list actors like George Clooney and Angelina Jolie, Lipton opened up about Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence declining his offer.

"I talked to Bravo and said, 'She's 22. Should we take a shot at it?' We all agreed that she was so brilliant in 'Silver Linings Playbook' and Bradley [Cooper, a former student of Lipton's] was urging me, saying he would come and sit in the front row," Lipton told TV Guide. "She said, 'I love the show. I'm not ready for it.' I perfectly respect her. She's 22 years old. She's got time."

The 250th episode of "Inside The Actors Studio" will bring back Cooper, Robert De Niro, Jennifer Lopez, Ellyn Burstyn and more. While Bravo has changed significantly since "Inside The Actors Studio" debuted in 1994, now known for being home to reality series focused on "Housewives," "Princesses" and "Newlyweds," the network is thrilled to still have the show on the air.

"It is a vestige of the original roots of Bravo, but I still think it's absolutely appropriate for the network," Bravo President Frances Berwick said in a statement. "It's about peeking behind the curtain getting into the creative process, just as we do on 'Top Chef' or 'The Rachel Zoe Project.'"

The two-hour 250th episode of "Inside The Actors Studio" airs on Wed., May 29 at 7 p.m. ET on Bravo.

Neil Patrick Harris is returning to host the Emmys for the 2013 ceremony on CBS on Sunday, September 22.

The "How I Met Your Mother" star, who will also host the upcoming 2013 Tonys on CBS on June 9, previously hosted the Emmys in 2009 when the ceremony last aired on CBS.

“I couldn't be more honored and excited to be hosting this year's Emmy Awards," Neil Patrick Harris said in a statement. "And what perfect timing -- I'll just do the exact same script I'm about to use for the Tonys. ‘And the Emmy for Best Revival of a Musical goes to 'Breaking Bad!' See, told you it works."

Nina Tassler, president of CBS Entertainment, said in a statement, "Neil is the quintessential host -- engaging, entertaining and a true showman -- with a passion for celebrating the medium we all love. We're thrilled for him to return for CBS's broadcast of the Emmy Awards."

The 65th annual Emmy Awards airs on Sunday, September 22.

Michael Lohan Proclaims Lindsay's "Sobriety Epiphany"

Third time's a charm, right? Well, for Lindsay Lohan it might be the sixth time that does it. After visiting the 26-year-old troubled actress at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California this weekend, Michael Lohan says his daughter has finally had a sobriety epiphany.

"It's just enough is enough and I think she realizes it," he tells TMZ. Yet, despite the "phenomenal progress" she is making, Michael claims it's not the Betty Ford treatment that's doing the trick.

"They don't get any trauma therapy here, they do no one-on-one whatsoever, they're giving some of the people in here frigging medication, I mean valium and other narcotic medication. You don't do that in a rehab. I just don't get it."

LiLo's stay is part of a plea deal negotiated in March that requires her to spend 90 days in a facility while doing community service and undergoing psychotherapy. Since that time, reports have emerged that she has attended all of her sessions and is pushing through emotional difficulties.

Jennifer Lopez Dishes About Her Nontraditional Family

When it comes to family, Jennifer Lopez says hers is anything but traditional.

The 43-year-old single mom never misses a step when it comes to her career and her family, and she certainly isn't shy about raising her children in a single-parent household.

"I am a non-traditional family," she told ABC News. "Me being a single mom, their dad doesn’t live at home with them. They have three stepbrothers from two moms … that’s not traditional."

The singer, who divorced Marc Anthony in 2011, has no intention of getting married in the near future and is raising 5-year-old twins, Max and Emme, on her own. Her kids, whom she described as "rambunctious" in a Harper's Bazaar interview, are used to her hectic schedule.

"They are used to being around a lot of people," she previously told the outlet. "They're open, happy, curious, smart, loving, affectionate."

Still, her fast-paced lifestyle hasn't stopped her from wanting more kids.

"I would love to have more," she gushed to E! News earlier this year. "I don't know if it's in the cards for me, but I would love it."

Following the release of her new single "Live It Up," Lopez is executive producing a new ABC family drama "The Fosters." The show gives a peek into the modern American family as it chronicles the lives of a multi-ethnic family raised by two moms.

As Lopez told ABC News, "Putting a show like this on to me is, look, there is no perfect of what family is supposed to be. It’s about love and that’s what I constantly remind myself of because I kind of let society get inside my head, 'Oh, it shouldn’t be like this. I did this, I did that. I failed.' And it’s like, no. They’re happy, they’re healthy, they’re loved more than anything in the world and they’re going to be fine. I want them to know that."

Kerry Covers THR's 'Drama Queens' Issue

Kerry Washington is one of the few actresses killing it on the big screen ("Django Unchained" and "Peeples"), the small screen ("Scandal") and the red carpet -- at the same damn time.

So it's no surprise that the 36-year-old beauty finally scored her first major fashion magazine cover with Elle this month. Now, she's gracing the cover of The Hollywood Reporter's "The Hot Drama Queens" issue.

Kerry already got the THR treatment earlier this year when she and her stylist, Erin Walsh, were praised for continuously creating best-dressed-worthy looks. This time around Kerry is joined on the cover with fellow TV "Drama Queens" Kate Mara of "House of Cards," Anna Gunn of "Breaking Bad," Connie Britton of "Nashville," Elisabeth Moss of "Mad Men" and Monica Potter from "Parenthood," all dressed in spring's hottest trend -- high contrast black-and-white ensembles.

In the issue, Kerry opens up about working as a substitute teacher in New York City before stardom, experiencing backlash (which included death threats) after speaking at the Democratic National Convention, learning to embrace social media and auditioning for roles where her skin color can at times hinder the process.

"It's a little bit different for me because I'll audition for something and they'll just decide that they're not going "ethnic" with a character, which I hear a lot," Kerry told THR.

She goes on to say, "people have artistic license … that's what casting is: fitting the right look to the right character. Whereas you could maybe lose some weight, there's not really anything I can do, nor would I want to, about being black."
