5 Things You Didn't Know About 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'

As summer approaches, all we really want to do is what you did in years past. Or, you know, get Jennifer Love Hewitt to talk to us about her iconic role as Julie James in the 1997 slasher, "I Know What You Did Last Summer."

Here are some stories JLH told The Huffington Post about the horror flick:

1. The famous scene where Hewitt yells in the street was thought up by a fan who got to tell the actors what to do.

TK TK gifs

According to Hewitt, a fan who loved horror movies "got the chance to come to the set and choose a moment in that movie for somebody to do."

Hewitt said that it was never supposed to be her line and she wasn't supposed to do the iconic scene originally. In her recollection, the fan said, "I think that she should stand in the middle of the street and spin around and say, 'What are you waiting for?'" When Hewitt was told about this scene she responded, "You want me to what?! How am I going to look like a normal person doing that?"

Now the moment is a "really sweet memory" for Hewitt and has a special place in her heart. "People don't know that that was just like some kid who loved horror movies," said Hewitt. "I'm glad I got to do that for him."

2. Hewitt didn't know that Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar were going to end up together.

i know what you did last summer

Prinze and Gellar would eventually get married in 2002 -- half a decade after the movie came out -- but at the time of "I Know What You Did Last Summer," Hewitt didn't see the inklings of a lasting relationship just yet.

When asked about it, Hewitt laughed and said she was "just trying to make it through [her] first lead role" and wasn't concentrating all too much on those two.

3. "I Know What You Did Last Summer" was based on a book.

i know what you did last summer

"I Know What You Did Last Summer" is based on a book with the same name. There was controversy at the time the movie came out as the original story wasn't intended to be a slasher.

Hewitt eventually read the book, but "way after the movie."

4. Hewitt was actually really scared while filming the movie and had trouble sleeping.

TK TK gifs

Hewitt said her young age contributed to this and explained a specific instance of terror involving the villain. "So, three o'clock in the morning, you're running in fog in the middle of North Carolina from a guy that you barely know, with a hook on his hand," Hewitt laughed. "You're supposed to be scared out of your mind."

The filming sometimes affected her sleep schedule as Hewitt explained, "There were definitely days where I went home and was like, 'I'm supposed to be asleep now. I don't think that that's going to happen.'"

"There were definitely moments where it felt actually scary, but it was fun."

5. Filming the escape scenes from the killer led to real bruising.

i know what you did last summer

"I was bruised a lot from falling and chasing and running," Hewitt admitted.

Hewitt said that it was "a lot of hours" and "a lot of work," but still thought the process was "just kids sort of playing around, but doing this really important big thing."

This interview took place as part of Hewitt's promotional tour for Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula, which she has used throughout her current pregnancy.

Josh Duggar Makes Incest Joke In Resurfaced 2008 Video

They say hindsight is 20/20, which makes this 2008 clip of Josh Duggar joking about his siblings dating unsettling.

Last week, the 27-year-old "19 Kids and Counting" star issued a Facebook apology confirming tabloid reports he was investigated as a teen for child molestation. As the scandal surrounding the family continues to unfold, this clip from the TLC reality show (back when it was still called "17 Kids and Counting") has resurfaced.

In the short video, a 20-year-old Josh explains how he had planned to take his then-fiancee Anna to the movies. His younger sister Jinger was supposed to chaperone, but she was too young to attend an 18-plus film. The solution, he explains, is to have siblings Jana and John David chaperone instead -- in what he describes as a "double date. "

"So, we chose Jana and John David –- we thought why not have a double date," Josh says. The camera then cuts and he begins laughing while he says, "We are from Arkansas!"

The joke, which clearly implies an incestuous relationship between siblings, seems even more off-color now that he confirmed allegations he molested five female minors, some of whom were his own sisters.

Following Josh's apology, TLC pulled "19 Kids and Counting" from its schedule, but has yet to make any long-term decisions about the fate of the show.

2 Of B.B. King's Daughters Think He Was Poisoned

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Two B.B. King heirs who've been most outspoken about the blues legend's care in his final days have accused King's two closest aides of poisoning him, but the attorney for King's estate called the claims ridiculous and police said there was no active homicide investigation.

Three doctors determined that King was appropriately cared-for, and King received 24-hour care and monitoring by medical professionals "up until the time that he peacefully passed away in his sleep," attorney Brent Bryson told the AP on Monday.

Daughters Karen Williams and Patty King allege that family members were prevented from visiting while King's business manager, LaVerne Toney, and his personal assistant, Myron Johnson, hastened their father's death.

Toney is named in King's will as executor of an estate that, according to court documents filed by lawyers for some of King's heirs, could total tens of millions of dollars.

Johnson was at B.B. King's bedside when he died May 14 in hospice care at home in Las Vegas at age 89. No family members were present.

"I believe my father was poisoned and that he was administered foreign substances," Patty King and Williams say in identically worded sections of affidavits provided to The Associated Press by their lawyer, Larissa Drohobyczer.

"I believe my father was murdered," they say.

An autopsy was performed Sunday. Test results will take up to eight weeks to obtain and shouldn't be affected by the fact that King's body had been embalmed, Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg said.

Fudenberg issued a statement Monday saying there was no immediate evidence supporting the murder allegations, and Las Vegas police Lt. Ray Steiber told the AP that there was no active homicide investigation.

Toney and Johnson each declined to comment on the accusations.

"They've been making allegations all along. What's new?" said Toney, who worked for King for 39 years and had power-of-attorney over his affairs.

A week before King's death, a judge in Las Vegas dismissed a request from Williams to take over as King's guardian.

An April 29 petition alleged that Toney had blocked King's friends from visiting him and had put her family members on King's payroll. It also alleged that large sums of money had disappeared from King's bank accounts.

But Clark County Family Court Hearing Master Jon Norheim said on May 7 that police and social services investigations in October and April uncovered no reason to take power-of-attorney from Toney.

Williams, Patty King and another daughter — Rita Washington — vowed to keep fighting.

"We lost the battle, but we haven't lost the war," Williams said then.

This week's allegations come days after a public viewing in Las Vegas drew more than 1,000 fans and mourners and a weekend family-and-friends memorial drew 350. A Beale Street procession and memorial are scheduled Wednesday in Memphis, Tennessee, followed by a Friday viewing and Saturday burial in King's hometown of Indianola, Mississippi.

Fudenberg said Monday that his office's investigation shouldn't delay those services.

Bryson said the allegations were "extremely disrespectful" to King.

"He did not want invasive medical procedures," he said. "He made the decision to return home for hospice care instead of staying in a hospital. These unfounded allegations have caused Mr. King to undergo an autopsy, which is exactly what he didn't want."

Drohobyczer said she represents Williams, Patty King and most of King's nine other adult children and heirs.

"The family is sticking together ... to oust Ms. Toney based on her illegal conduct, conflicts of interest and self-dealing," she said. She alleged that Toney hastened King's death by "misconduct, or by failing to properly attend to his medical needs."

An affidavit from Patty King, who used to live at King's home, says she saw Johnson administer to King two drops of an unknown substance on his tongue during evenings for several months before his death, and that Toney never told her what the substance was.

Bryson called Drohobyczer's claims ridiculous.

"I hope they have a factual basis that they can demonstrate for their defamatory and libelous allegations," he said.

Now, the 43-year-old can add one more accomplishment to his list. He’s also a world record holder, of rapid-fire selfie-taking, no less.

According to Guinness World Records, Johnson set a new record last week for the most selfies taken in three minutes. The actor reportedly took a whopping 105 selfies with fans at the London premiere of “San Andreas” to achieve the title.

A Guinness World Records adjudicator was reportedly on hand to ensure that “selfie rules were followed.” The full face and neck of participants had to be visible in all the shots, with “no blurring.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger's 'Legend Of Conan' Will Be A Sequel To The 1982 Original

Arnold Schwarzenegger is officially reprising his role as Conan the Barbarian, and not in a reboot.

The 67-year-old actor was first said to return to the sword-wielding character back in 2010 for the reboot "The Legend of Conan," but now the new film's producer and co-writer Chris Morgan confirms it will be a direct sequel to the original 1982 movie, "Conan the Barbarian." The new film will skip over Schwarzenegger's "Conan the Destroyer" and Jason Momoa's 2011 stand-alone "Conan" film, and depict the character 30 years later following John Milius' original film.

"When we meet him again, Conan has been many things over the course of his life -- a thief, a warrior, a pirate, a king, a legend -- and is now an older man," Morgan told fan site The Arnold Fans. Morgan also teased that at least three characters from the 1982 movie will return in "Legend."

Fredrik Malmberg, "Legend" producer, also hinted that the new movie will be pretty violent. "Our marching orders from the studio were to create a film worthy as a successor to the 1982 film, which was pretty brutal," he told the fan site. We can definitely expect to see the Governator in some epic fight scenes, which he's really excited about.

"It is the greatest honor to be 67 years old and to still be asked to come back into all those franchises," Schwarzenegger told The Arnold Fans. "I'm really excited to be working on this –- to do another Conan movie, and hopefully it will be soon!" The actor is also returning in "Terminator Genisys" this summer and is in talks for an upcoming "Twins" reboot, "Triplets," which has already been written by Josh Gad.

Johnny Depp Could Face Up To 10 Years In Prison For Bringing His Dogs To Australia

Captain Jack Sparrow could spend real time behind bars.

Johnny Depp may face prison time for bringing his two Yorkshire terriers, Pistol and Boo, into Australia illegally earlier this month. The actor brought his dogs into the country on his private jet while filming the upcoming "Pirates of the Caribbean" sequel. The Australian Agriculture Minister then responded by threatening to kill Depp's dogs, since the country requires all animals to have permits and go through a quarantine process to prevent incoming disease.

According to The Guardian, an Australian senate committee was told on Monday that if the case goes to court, Depp could face up to 10 years in prison, or the maximum fine of AU$340,000, which is over $263,000 in U.S. dollars. The pilot of the plane that brought the dogs into the country could also face up to two years in prison.

Depp's wife Amber Heard has reportedly taken the dogs, Pistol and Boo, back to California. Depp is said to have also returned from Australia. The actor's reps were not immediately available for comment.

Why Tamar Braxton's New Clothing Line Will Be Your Summer Shopping Obsession

Since Tamar Braxton first stole the spotlight on WE TV's "Braxton Family Values," the 38-year-old singer has snagged a spinoff reality show and became the host of daytime talk show, "The Real." And just when we thought she couldn't fit anymore on her plate, Braxton launched an eponymous clothing collection.

tamar collection

The Tamar Collection by Tamar Braxton, which debuted earlier this year, is the star's first foray into fashion. The line's body-con dresses, fitted blazers, jumpsuits, luxe track pants, and sexy stilettos align with Braxton's high-end personal style, but thankfully lack the hefty price tags. Everything in the collection retails for under $160, so all the Tamartians (aka the devoted followers and fans) out there don't need to go broke while trying to look fly.

Tamar Braxton Collection

Ms. Braxton stopped by The Huffington Post to show us the Summer 2015 collection and chat with us about her personal style, which celebrities she'd like to see in her collection and some of her most unconventional beauty secrets.

What's your favorite look from your new collection?

It has to be the white bohemian look that I wore to the collection lunch event last night. I can't wait to put that with a pair of shorts. It's so versatile.

tamar collection

Are there any celebrities that you would love to see in your clothes?

First of all, I love Victoria Beckham. That would be amazing. J.Lo is one of my fashion icons too. Maybe [Beyoncé]. Rihanna. Everyone I look up to, fashion-wise.

Your personal style is fabulous and we know you wear a lot of designer clothes. But why did you want to make sure that your clothing collection was affordable?

Because I don't always want to spend the coins on designer clothes. Thank God most of the time I'm able to afford the things that I want. But the people that watch us on TV and listen to my music, they can't always afford that, and I want them to feel fabulous as well. I know when I put on a Versace outfit I'm like, 'Yasssss, I feel amazing!' So I want them to have that feeling when they put on the Tamar Collection. That's why I work so hard to make sure that we have quality clothing at an affordable price.

tamar collection

Are there any beauty products or tips that you live by?

I don't put a lot on my face because I'm so sensitive. Everyone things I'm crazy because after I wash my face with Dove -- it's the only soap I can use -- I ice my face.

Seriously? How does one do this?

Yes, you must. I learned that from Bette Davis. It stings but it's worth it. You cup the ice in your hands and hold it to your face for as long as you can. Sometimes you drop it but you've got to pick it back up. It takes down inflammation and tightens your skin. It's amazing.

And what do you put on afterwards?

Jesus.

Hahaha! OK, well, how has your fashion and beauty regimen changed since becoming a mother?

I have no time for me, so my get-ready time is like 10 minutes. I have to throw on comfortable things that are still all-day wear. And I'm not just trying to say this about my line -- but it's the truth. I can throw on these vegan leather track pants, sandals, a jean jacket and kill it! I believe in two-minute outfits that are comfortable and still stylish.

You can check out more of the line at Tamarcollection.com. And make sure to click through the slideshow below to see Tamar's eye-catching personal style.

Obama Tweets Back To Girl's Awesome Letter About World Peace, Marriage Equality

A 5-year-old has some suggestions for how to solve a couple of global issues, and the leader of the free world has responded.

Last week, Yasmeen, self described as “5 almost 6 years old,” took to writing a handwritten letter to President Obama advocating for world peace and marriage equality.

Please stop war for our world, instead have a meeting. Please give a speech to tell everyone they can marry who they want. Thank you," her message read.

On Friday, Yasmeen’s aunt tweeted a photo of the note to the POTUS Twitter handle, and that same day, the President replied.

“Tell your niece I really like her letter. Couldn't agree more!” his tweet read.

After launching his first Twitter account six years into his presidency, President Obama broke the Guinness world record on May 18 for the “fasted time to reach 1 million followers on Twitter.” As of Tuesday, he has racked up 2.44 million followers. However, he has just seven published tweets -- among them, his encouraging reply to Yasmeen.

This just goes to show, “please” and “thank you” still go a very long way.

Amy Schumer Takes On The Bill Cosby Sex Scandal On 'Inside Amy Schumer'

Comedian Amy Schumer tackled the Bill Cosby scandal during Tuesday night's episode of "Inside Amy Schumer," playing the role of his lawyer in a fictional trial about the multiple accusations of sexual assault made against the comic legend.

As you might expect, Schumer was not your typical defense attorney, doing a Cosby-style dance and trying to muddle the line between the lovable characters he has portrayed and the serious accusations against him.

"If convicted, the next time you put on a rerun of 'The Cosby Show,' you may wince a little, might feel a little pang," she said. "We don't deserve to feel that pang. We deserve to dance like no one's watching, and watch like no one's raping."

Check it out in the clip above.

Schumer said earlier this year that she was working on a Cosby segment, which led to some debates among the show's writers.

"I think we probably talked about this scene more than any other scene we’ve done," Schumer said during a panel discussion about the show.

Skydiving through tons of cash, scaling mountains with bare hands, wingsuiting from high cliffs, racing from an avalanche on a bike -- these are just some of the insane extreme sports moments in the new "Point Break" trailer.

Wait, didn't they already make that movie in 1991 with Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze on surfboards? Yep, and now the original Kathryn Bigelow film is being remade to follow another FBI agent (Luke Bracey) as he infiltrates a group of athlete criminals. It's like "xXx," but with a long-haired blonde guy instead of Vin Diesel.

A little confetti can't break J.Lo's stride.

Jennifer Lopez was confetti bombed by a clown while walking through LAX on Tuesday. The 45-year-old, who sported a cropped sweater and short, shoulder-length hair, was hit with a shower of rainbow paper, but kept right on walking.

The confetti culprit was none other than Richie the Barber, an LA-based clown known for his pranks and elaborate tattoos. Us Weekly noted he was also behind the confetti bombing of Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian last year. The Kardashians allegedly wanted to pursue charges, but Richie said he meant no harm and was only trying to "congratulate them on their success."

Julianne Moore Articulates Why The Fight For LGBT Rights Doesn't End With Marriage Equality

$
0
0
Too many think the battle for gay rights ends with marriage equality. Even with the Supreme Court forecasted to rule in favor of the matter come June, it takes prominent voices to shift the core thinking to a wider spectrum of LGBT issues. One person working toward that is Julianne Moore, who recently recorded a PSA for Lambda Legal's #IDo campaign to raise funds and awareness.

In the video, the reigning Best Actress winner, who nabbed the Oscar earlier this year for her touching performance in "Still Alice," enumerates reasons why the crusade for gay civil rights must continue once marriage is legal for all. Moore cites school bullying, medical care and violence against transgender individuals as three such examples, urging others to say "I do."

Those who join Moore in this next stage of the fight can donate to Lambda Legal, the nation's oldest LGBT legal organization. The organization’s board co-chair, Karen Dixon, and her wife, Nan Schaffer, will match up to $1 million in contributions, dollar-for-dollar. All said, the 54-year-old actress is the perfect spokeswoman for Lambda's efforts. Her résumé contains a diverse mix of LGBT projects, including roles in 2002's "The Hours," 2009's "A Single Man," 2010's "The Kids Are All Right" and the upcoming "Freeheld," in which she plays a terminally ill police officer who must fight to secure pension benefits for her partner (Ellen Page).

“I think it’s a very basic human-rights issue," Moore said in 2011. "Everybody has the right to marry the person they love and be represented as a couple and family. ... It’s something that people will look back on in years to come and say, ‘I can’t believe it took so long for us to recognize this.’ It’ll be like segregation and giving women the right to vote.”

Moore's PSA premieres exclusively on The Huffington Post. Learn more about the #IDo campaign at Lambda Legal.
