Melissa McCarthy Reportedly In Talks For 'Ghostbusters' Reboot

$

We'll call this a big yes: Melissa McCarthy is in initial talks to star in the female-centric "Ghostbusters" remake, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

McCarthy's name has been bandied about since director Paul Feig, with whom she worked on "Bridesmaids" and "The Heat," first began talks for the film in August. McCarthy has a full slate ahead, however, with commitments to CBS' "Mike & Molly" and the 2016 comedy "Michelle Darnell," a collaboration with husband Ben Falcone. The Hollywood Reporter indicates McCarthy is attempting to finagle her schedule in order to shoot "Michelle Darnell" -- in which she plays a recently released prisoner -- this March and "Ghostbusters" in June. HuffPost Entertainment asked McCarthy's rep to confirm the news but did not receive an immediate response.

Elsewhere: "Workaholics" star Jillian Bell and "Saturday Night Live" funny-lady Cecily Strong are also set to meet with Feig about the movie, THR reports. Jennifer Lawrence and Rebel Wilson, who both previously said they'd discussed the film with Feig, are now thought not to be contenders. Emma Stone, another name mentioned, is more of a question mark.

At least one other person thrilled with the McCarthy news, besides everyone, is Bill Murray. "Melissa [McCarthy] would be a spectacular Ghostbuster," Murray said last year.

"Hey, let's all promise that in 10 years from today, we'll meet again, and we'll see what kind of people we've blossomed into." The rumored "Wet Hot American Summer" TV show is reportedly on its way to Netflix, according to Deadline.com Even better, the eight-episode limited series will include most of the original cast.

The reported returning cast includes Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Judah Friedlander, Paul Rudd, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon, Michael Showalter and more. David Wain will again direct.

Rumors that a follow up to the cult classic was coming to Netflix began circulating in May, though few details were known. E! reports rumblings of a sequel had been going around for years, with Wain even saying in a Reddit AMA that the follow up would have the original cast.

Though Netflix would not confirm, Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos had previously teased the "Wet Hot" return. "We're really excited about the proposition of getting that show together," he said during the winter leg of the TCA tour. "Stay tuned."

Azealia Banks Slams Kendrick Lamar For Ferguson Comments

Kendrick Lamar shared his thoughts on recent police killings in an interview with Billboard magazine, and Azealia Banks doesn't agree with his stance on the situation. At all.

Lamar, who nabbed the cover story in the Jan. 17 issue of Billboard, was asked by the magazine's Gavin Edwards about law enforcement and the black community in 2014, specifically the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. Both died at the hands of police officers, leading to protests across the country.

"I wish somebody would look in our neighborhood knowing that it's already a situation, mentally, where it's f---ked up," Lamar, who admitted he has been treated unfairly by cops "plenty of times," said. "What happened to [Michael Brown] should've never happened. Never. But when we don't have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us? It starts from within. Don't start with just a rally, don't start from looting -- it starts from within."

After Billboard's piece was published, Banks took to Twitter and slammed Lamar.

Last month, Banks made headlines for her feud with Iggy Azalea in regards to the "Fancy" rapper's cultural appropriation, exploitation of the hip-hop community, and silence following Brown and Garner's deaths.

When the subject of the Australian star came up during his Billboard interview, Lamar refused to knock her.

"She's doing her thing," the Compton, California native said of Azalea. "Let her. People have to go through trials and tribulations to get where they at. Do your thing, continue to rock it, because obviously God wants you here."

5 Reasons Rod Stewart Is Our Favorite Frontman On His 70th Birthday

$

Rod Stewart turns 70 on Saturday (Jan. 10), and in addition to wishing the rocker a happy birthday, we'd like to pay him a little tribute. Here are five reasons why we love him -- a lot:

1. He is one of the last frontmen still standing.
Don't believe us. Even Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin fame noted in The Telegraph, “There are only three or four frontmen left, from our time, who actually just kick the mic stand up and do it, and that’s me, Rod Stewart and Mick Jagger.”

Last October marked the 50th anniversary of Stewart's release of his first single, his take on the blues classic "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl." That's staying power and Stewart is proof that if you love what you are doing, you can just keep doing it. He maintains an active touring schedule which this year includes New Zealand, Australia and Las Vegas, of course.

2. Half the world's post-50 population lost its virginity with "Maggie May" playing in the background.
OK, a slight exaggeration, but please raise your hand if you associate that classic with the smell of Brut or English Leather. Uh-huh, point proved.

3. He's on Facebook.
Sure, a lot of celebrities from the music world are on social media. But how many of them at his age rack up engagement numbers like Stewart's? He regularly amasses 1.2 million views of his videos posted on Facebook (including the multiple times we hit the play button at work.) And how can you not love a guy who posts photos from his Rome hotel room without his pants on?

4. He invented the long shag haircut for men.
OK, maybe he didn't invent it, but he sure brought it to the world stage. Stewart was way ahead of those long-shag cuts on Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee. Stewart's hair style was hair "possibly the flagship mane for this specific mens' haircut," according to the Men's Hair Forum on rock star hairstyles. There you have it.

5. He values education, even if it means paying more in taxes.
Rod Stewart left Britain for Los Angeles in 1975 to avoid paying 83 percent of his income in taxes. In fact, his 1975 album "Atlantic Crossing" is a reference to his repatriation in the U.S. But last summer, he announced that he would be returning to his birth land so that his youngest two children (he has eight in total) could be educated there.

So what do YOU love about Rod Stewart? Let us know in comments.

Justin Bieber's Team Insist Calvin Klein Ads Weren't Photoshopped, Threaten Lawsuit

Justin Bieber was recently revealed as the new Marky Mark, a.k.a. the new face of Calvin Klein. But now there are claims that the photos of a bulky Biebs in his underwear were Photoshopped.

Website BreatheHeavy.com released the allegedly unretouched photo of Bieber as a GIF, which suggests that his muscles, bulge and hands have been increased in size. An image from a behind-the-scenes video also shows him with less body hair than in the official ads.

Bieber's team has denied any use of Photoshop on the ads, according to a letter obtained by TMZ claiming that the photo from BreatheHeavy is fake. His team also apparently sent BreatheHeavy a cease-and-desist letter, requesting them to remove the GIF and admit to falsehood. The website has since responded, deleting the image from Instagram, apologizing to Bieber and retracting their claims in the following statement:

Team Bieber sent BreatheHeavy a cease and desist letter because of the alleged un-retouched Calvin Klein photo we posted, asking we remove the picture in question as well as provide a retraction.

Because BreatheHeavy is not about making anyone feel bad or intentionally stirring the pot (and are definitely not here for lawsuits), we shall retract the story per request.

We sincerely apologize to Bieber for the hit to his ego and to the millions of tweens on social media we upset.

Calvin Klein also posted a photo of a shirtless Bieber to their Instagram on Friday night with the caption, "Can't touch this."

Can't touch this. Flashback to @justinbieber live onstage during #fashionrocks. #mycalvins #fbf

New 'Chappie' Trailer Tones Down The Cute, Gets Heavy On Action

The first footage from "Chappie" was so cute that it probably made your brain short-circuit, but that's not the case here.

The new trailer for Neill Blomkamp's sci-fi movie about a robot with a mind of its own goes heavy on the action. Instead of just seeing that Chappie acts like a person and watches "He-Man" cartoons, this new trailer focuses on the fact that Hugh Jackman and Sigourney Weaver's characters really don't like that. There are car flips, gun fire and just enough explosions to suggest actor Dev Patel and his talking robot are in for a pretty wild adventure. "Chappie" opens in theaters March 6.

Elastic Heart, Elastic Interpretation

Another day, another controversy spread across social media. I first heard about Sia's "Elastic Heart" video on Facebook, but not by seeing the actual video.

My Facebook timeline was in an uproar at the "disgusting" and "perverted" "pedophilia" tone of Sia's latest music video. One of my good Facebook friends wrote a four-paragraph status update on his viewpoint. Naturally, I had to watch the video after reading his well-laid-out opinion and find out what the heck everyone is so upset about.

At first glance, I saw nothing wrong with it. I saw two incredibly talented performers carrying out dynamic choreography. Were 28-year-old Shia LaBeouf and 12-year-old Maddie Ziegler a little too close for comfort? Yeah, a little bit. But I've seen more awkward situations in prime time television commercials.

My friend who posted his lengthy perspective on the "Elastic Heart" video brought up a good point. He works with abuse victims and spoke of how certain images might trigger a certain reaction, but the video actually reminded him of his relationship struggles while raising his daughter. He saw a father/daughter struggle. Another unique take on my timeline was a friend of mine in recovery seeing it as the addiction struggle. I, of course, have a somewhat different take on Sia's piece.

As a life coach, this video is such a great visual for that internal struggle that I often see my clients caught up in. The cage, the fight, the moments of peace, the emotions, the inability to control, the desire for control, the highs, the lows, and more are feelings, ideas and states that most of us can relate to in our everyday lives.

The cage and Ziegler's character's ability to freely leave in a single moment is what triggered the coaching comparison for me. When a person feels stuck or unable to move up and forward, I often compare it to being in a cage. In the majority of circumstances, we have the ability to freely leave. What keeps us in the perceived cage can range from things we anticipate (such as work or struggle), or lack of resources including motivation, confidence or hope. We are rarely stuck beyond our control.

We are often in a fighting match with ourselves. Sometimes that little feisty perception is kicking our strong solid self's butt, and sometimes we rise above those jittery little thoughts and let them sleep, only to wake them up later. And sometimes we can look the antagonist in the eye, carry them, be playful with them and understand that the stable self is in fact one with the chaotic self. Once a person can make peace with themselves and all the stability and chaos that's part of the package, and cease that internal struggle, then they are one step closer to freeing themselves from their own cage.

Sia explained on Twitter that the two characters represent the "2 warring 'Sia' self states." Do I buy her explanation completely? No. Until she further explains why she specifically chose an older man and a younger girl to be intertwined in interpretive dance, then I believe she was seeking controversy, in which she succeeded. And it also looks like the controversy helped pick up an advertiser: an ad for Jennifer Lopez's new movie "The Boy Next Door" in which Lopez's character has a tryst with a teenager. The ad runs prior to the music video. Coincidence? Perhaps. All controversy aside, however, Sia was a genius at transitioning her musical art "Elastic Heart" into a visual art piece that can be interpreted in whichever way the viewer chooses.

Blake Lively Tricked Amber Tamblyn About Her And Ryan Reynolds' Baby's Birth

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds welcomed their first child over the holidays, but Lively's good friend and "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" co-star Amber Tamblyn was the last to find out.

Tamblyn recently told People magazine that when she went to visit Lively, she had no idea there would be a baby present. "I went up there and I didn't know, everybody knew but me, and she does that shit to me," Tamblyn said. Apparently, Lively texted Tamblyn about new wallpaper that she was anxious for her friend to see. But that wallpaper turned out to be a newborn. "And I went up there, and there was her baby," Tamblyn said. "That bitch! She tricked me!" Tamblyn joked.

Tamblyn said that all of the "Sisterhood" girls have seen the baby. "I'm very excited for her and Ryan, and to be an auntie," Tamblyn said. "All of us are godmothers, so we are very happy."

Lively recently told People about how thrilled she is to be a new mom. "This is the happiest time in my life," she said.

Don Cheadle And Jimmy Fallon Just Became An '80s R&B Group

Well, this is totally awesome.

While reminiscing about the history of "The Tonight Show" studio on Friday, Jimmy Fallon and Don Cheadle began talking about R&B group Pleather & Jerry from the '80s show "American Power Hour." If that doesn't seem to ring a bell for you, it's probably because Pleather and Jerry are really just Fallon and Cheadle dressing up in '80s clothes and singing about ladies and various fast food restaurant bathrooms.

Cheadle is up for a Golden Globe this weekend for his work in "House of Lies," but after this someone should probably give him a Grammy as well.

"The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.

Did The Golden Globes Accidentally Just Reveal Best Picture Winners Early?

If you're a gambler, you might want to bet a few bucks on two films in particular at the Golden Globes on Sunday.

It seems "Selma" may have accidentally been revealed as the winner of the Best Motion Picture - Drama on the Globes' website Friday, Deadline reported. "Into the Woods" was listed as winner of Best Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy.

The film titles emerged under images for last year's winners, "12 Years A Slave" and "American Hustle," but were quickly deleted, Deadline wrote. An official for the tech company operating the graphics said the titles were chosen at random for a test that accidentally went live. "We randomly selected two film titles with no knowledge of the category winners. We are solely responsible for the error," a spokesperson said.

Ernst & Young, which tabulates the voting, told The Wrap only they have the results and that no winners were revealed on the website. "Any assertion to the contrary is inaccurate," the firm said.

Hmm. At the very least, the two films might be worth an educated guess on your Globes pool.

The 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards air on Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET on NBC.

Major congrats are in order for none other than Kim Kardashian West!

The 34-year-old has landed her second Vogue cover, this time for its Australian edition. But instead of being decked out in a wedding gown and cuddled by husband Kanye West, the reality star went with a more natural look for the glossy's February issue.

Kardashian shocked everyone with her first Vogue cover, so there is sure to be some reaction from both supporters and less enthusiastic readers alike. But love or hate her, there's no denying she looks gorgeous in an all-white ensemble and natural looking makeup.

Between this, breaking the Internet and landing Elle UK's January cover, it's been a pretty great few months for Kim. Who knows, perhaps maybe we'll even see a smile out of her sometime soon.

The hair and makeup at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards was filled with twists and turns, but there was at least one trend that dominated the red carpet: deep side parts.

This dramatic sectioning of hair is a simple transition from the typical middle part, and it complements various face shapes and hairstyles. From Lorde and Katie Holmes' sleek ponytails to Diane Kruger and Allison Williams' glamorous waves, deep side parts are perfect for showing off your "good" side.

See which stars rocked the deep side part trend at the Golden Globes.

Actors may dream about winning a Golden Globe, but when it comes to color they actually wore to the event this year, silver is the clear winner.

We Spotted Lots Of Pretty Pleats On The Golden Globes Red Carpet

The Golden Globes red carpet was filled with all our favorite fashion trends: eye-catching embellishments, bold colors, elegant accessories, sexy cutouts and more.

The one trend we weren't expecting to see was...pleats!

Besides the fact that they aren't the most flattering, the accordion-esque details can also skew very young (think: Catholic school uniform). However, there was nothing juvenile about the fabulous folds we spotted on Sunday night's red carpet. From Jessica Chastain's ultra sexy knife-pleated gown to Lupita Nyong'o's flouncy floral number, we were impressed by how glamorous and chic pleats can be.

Check out the pretty pleated looks from the 2015 Golden Globes below. Are you a fan?

Richard Linklater Wins Best Director At The 2015 Golden Globes For 'Boyhood'

Richard Linklater took home Best Director at the Golden Globes on Sunday for his work on "Boyhood," topping Wes Anderson ("The Grand Budapest Hotel"), Ava DuVernay ("Selma"), David Fincher ("Gone Girl") and Alejandro González Iñárritu ("Birdman").

"Boyhood" led to Linklater's first Globe nominations. He was also up for Best Original Screenplay, but lost to the writers of "Boyhood."

Linklater is widely considered a lock for the Oscars' Best Director shortlist. If his name is called out when the nominations are announced on Thursday, it will mark Linklater's third Academy Award nod. He was previously up for co-writing "Before Midnight" and "Before Sunset" with Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke.

Recent Golden Globe winners for Best Director include Alfonso Cuarón ("Gravity"), Ben Affleck ("Argo"), Martin Scorsese ("Hugo") and James Cameron ("Avatar").
