Political Scandals Are 'The Gift That Keeps On Giving' For 'The Good Wife'

A disgraced politician returns to the spotlight shortly after failing his constituents and his wife: It's a political comeback story for the ages. Not only is that the plot of CBS's "The Good Wife," starring Julianna Margulies, but it's happening in New York City with Eliot Spitzer and Anthony Weiner.

"I would never want to benefit from someone else's pain but I have been emailing [our producers] for two weeks now," Margulies told E! News about the recent Weiner controversy. "It is the gift that just keeps on giving. It is shocking that in our fifth season, this show is more relevant than ever. It's amazing that my character is a character that women are looking to for answer as to how she feels about it. Alicia's advice to the wives would be, 'Go back to work. Don't open the paper. Don't watch TV.'"

"The Good Wife" creators and executive producers Robert and Michelle King have not been shy about discussing the influences political scandals, like Spitzer's, had on the show.

"The Anthony Weiner stuff is a little too on point," Robert King said with a laugh during "The Good Wife's" recent TCA panel in Beverly Hills, reiterating Margulies' point that the scandals were "the gift that keeps on giving" narratively.

The writers also plan to use the current NSA discussion on privacy as a "framework" for Season 5: "If you remember, in Season 2 Lockhart/Gardner represented a terrorist," King said. "So they've been listened to all this time because they were one hop away from a terrorist." That will allow the writers to comment on the NSA and Snowden controversy indirectly.

Margulies admitted during the TCA panel that she feels nothing but "compassionate empathy" for Weiner's wife Huma Abedin, "because people are so quick to judge and after playing this character for four years, I see it differently. With everyone being able to comment on someone's downfall, it can be very dangerous ..." She said that she did see the similarities between Abedin's pose behind Weiner and Alicia's demeanor in the "Good Wife" pilot.

"She had the exact look that I tried to capture in the pilot ... you see her standing behind her disgraced man,” the actress said of Abedin. “It was a soulless look; she was looking down, like her body was empty ... she was just going through the motions.”

"The Good Wife" Season 4 ended with Peter [Chris Noth] getting elected governor of Illinois. "It's funny that Peter Florrick gets reelected at the end of last season and Spitzer goes back into politics," Margulies told E! News. "It's like, ‘You must be kidding! He must watch the show!' It really feels like at first, art was imitating life, and now life is imitating art."

Over on "Scandal," another political drama with a philandering political figure, Tony Goldwyn plays the president who had an affair with Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and picked her over his wife in the Season 2 finale. Goldwyn said the political comebacks of Spitzer and Weiner are "kind of shocking."

"But you know, one of the great things about American life in any area is you can reinvent yourself,” Goldwyn told Politico. “In a way, that’s part of the American character ... You can watch someone create a second act for themselves, and, in so many cases, people come back. Way before Spitzer and Weiner, we watched public officials brought down in disgrace come back. Americans love a great redemption story. That said, Carlos Danger may be a game changer.”

"The Good Wife" Season 5 premieres Sunday, September 29 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.

Anna Faris' 'Mom' Adds Justin Long And Octavia Spencer

CBS' "Mom," starring Anna Faris and Allison Janney, will see Justin Long and Octavia Spencer recurring in early episodes, creator Chuck Lorre announced at the show's Television Critics Association Summer 2013 press tour panel on Monday.

"There's going to be a love interest [for Anna's character] played by Justin Long -- that's going to come up in the first few episodes," Lorre said. "Poor bastard doesn't know what he's in for. He's going to be her first shot at a meaningful relationship."

Oscar winner Spencer will first appear in the fifth episode of the series, "She's playing a woman who has bigger problems than Christy [Faris], so Christy gets some perspective," Lorre said.

Spencer expressed her own enthusiasm via Twitter soon after:

"Mom" follows Faris' Christy, a single mother and waitress who joins an Alcoholics Anonymous group in an attempt to try and get her life back on track, but soon, she finds her efforts challenged by her high maintenance mom Bonnie (Janney).

After a string of movie roles, Faris said she was attracted to "Mom" because the character was "so dimensional," especially in comparison to some of her previous characters. "She's a mess, which is very much like me ... It's a story about relationships and characters, so that format was very appealing to me ... Playing those one-dimensional characters is actually really difficult, because you're not dealing with somebody you'd ever really know. I don't think anyone can imagine knowing Cindy Campbell from 'Scary Movie.' Your job is easier when you're playing a person you can understand, who seems relatable."

Lorre said that his idea for the series came "from a desire on my part to finish something I've been attempting to do for many years ... a woman starting her life over again, redemption and all those really funny premises for sitcoms ... It's very meaningful to me because it's about starting your life over again, fixing your relationships."

When asked about his expanding comedy empire, Lorre admitted that "Two and a Half Men" practically runs itself at this point since the writers have been on staff for nine or 10 years, so most of his focus will now be on "Mom": "This is a brand new baby. It requires a great deal of love and care." He recounted some advice that Norman Lear once gave him: "You go where the fire's burning the brightest; you go and do what you can do where you're most needed."

In addition to Janney -- who said she "couldn't be happier" with her new role -- and French Stewart, the comedy also stars Matt Jones, who was asked how his hapless character Baxter (Christy's baby daddy) compared to his "Breaking Bad" role of Badger.

"This character does not sell drugs that are that severe," Jones said with a laugh. "I think this character is a lot more well-intentioned. He really does care about his son and Christy, and helping out as much as he can -- he just fails at it constantly ... On 'Breaking Bad,' I was just trying to get high."

Speaking of the relationship between Faris and Janney's characters, Faris admitted that they're both hoping for flashbacks. She had nothing but praise for her co-star as both an actress and a person, but said that Bonnie will be Christy's "biggest champion and my harshest critic ... very, very critical, just like all moms are."

"Mom" premieres Monday, September 23 at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

Jo Wood has been divorced from The Rolling Stones' guitarist Ronnie Wood since 2011, but she has just now removed his visage from her body -- her butt, more specifically.

“I stood there one day, looked at it, and thought, ‘It’s time for that to come off. I can’t have my ex-husband on my bum when he’s married,’” she recently told The Mirror.

Her ex tied the knot with his third wife, 35-year-old Sally Humphreys, in December 2012.

Although Jo and Ronnie's 24-year marriage ended after the guitarist reportedly ran away with an 18-year-old cocktail waitress in 2008, Jo said his bandmate Keith Richards still hoped the two would reunite.

“Recently Keith did say to me that he thought Ronnie was crazy to let me go," she told The Mirror. "But what’s done is done. I wouldn’t have been able to live with him again and to trust him. I can’t recover from something like that.”

It's not the first time she's spoken out about their ill-fated marriage; she released a book in May 2013 that detailed her relationship with the famous guitarist.

And Jo certainly isn't the first person to be left with an ink-stained reminder of her ex following a split. Click through the slideshow below to see stars with tattoos of their former loves.

They Wish 'Friends' Went On Longer

Lisa Kudrow and Matthew Perry have been reuniting quite a bit lately. First, the former "Friends" appeared on the premiere episode of NBC's "Hollywood Game Night" and this weekend, Perry sat in for Piers Morgan on CNN, where he interviewed his longtime co-star.

Perry (Chandler Bing) and Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay) reminisced about making each other laugh on the "Friends" set and their favorite scenes from the show. They were having so much fun, it got Perry wondering (again) why "Friends" ever ended in the first place.

"I find myself sort of reminiscing about how much fun ['Friends'] was, the hours that we worked, and you know, you can see how much we laughed and everything and I find myself saying, 'If I had a time machine, I would like to go back to 2004 and not have stopped,'" Perry said during the interview (above), echoing the sentiments he shared with The Hollywood Reporter in June. "I guess the ideology was that we would decide because that would be better. But I disagree -- looking back, 'No, don't make us decide. Let's keep going.' It's the greatest job in the world."

"Yeah, no ... If it was up to us ... I would keep going," Kudrow agreed. "I figure there probably would've come a time anyway when someone would've said, 'We've had enough,' but why not have fun until they do?"

Perry continued, "I think just in that meeting where we all said, 'Let's stop,' I probably would've said, 'Hey, let's not stop!'"

"Yeah, me too," Kudrow added.

Though the actress -- who's the creator, writer and star of the online series "Web Therapy" as well as the producer of reality program "Who Do You Think You Are?" -- wishes "Friends" didn't end when it did after 10 seasons on May 6, 2004, she doesn't have much of a desire to revisit Phoebe and co. these days. "I wouldn't even have an interest in seeing what those people are doing 10 years later as parents that have to be responsible," Kudrow said on HuffPost Live earlier this month. "It would be so different that it wouldn't be 'Friends' anymore. Have I talked anybody out of wanting a reunion?"

However, if everybody was down to do a reunion, Kudrow would be there. "Of course I would do it if everyone wanted to do it. And everyone isn't the six of us -- it's David Crane and Marta Kaufman, who created the show."

"Friends" fans have been itching for a reunion or movie since the show ended and recently, they got a little bit of what they wanted. When Jennifer Aniston co-hosted the "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in May, the "Friends" alumna stopped by Perry's place for some advice and found out he was sleeping with Courteney Cox as well as the talk show host and her wife Portia de Rossi in a video skit.

It might not have been exactly what "Friends" fans hoped for in April, when rumors of a Thanksgiving 2014 gathering had fans of the NBC sitcom in a frenzy, but the sketch certainly made waves on the Internet.

During Aniston's time on "Ellen," the host and her wife Portia de Rossi, who was a guest, asked if she would do a proper "Friends" reunion. The actress admitted, "Doing that little bit with Matty and Court, we all were very nostalgic and miss working together and love each other ... It's a great thing to get to go back to your family like that and also know that people will love it and enjoy it."

Shortly thereafter, however, Perry was asked about a "Friends" movie or reunion on "Good Morning America" and he had this to say: "It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good ... It was so terrific ... If we did a ['Friends'] movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

Do you think "Friends" should've continued? Would you want a movie or a reunion? Sound off in the comments!

Look Who's Back With A 'Bang'

Regina King is returning to "The Big Bang Theory," a rep confirmed to The Huffington Post.

The "Southland" alumna will reprise her role as Mrs. Davis, the director of human resources at Caltech, where Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Howard (Simon Helberg) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) work, in the CBS hit comedy's upcoming seventh season.

King last appeared on "The Big Bang Theory" when Sheldon wound up getting in trouble in a Season 6 episode of "The Big Bang Theory." He got upset when his assistant Alex (Margo Harshman) flirted with Leonard, so he confronted her about it, telling her she's unable to control her urges to reproduce, and even showed her offensive pictures of genitalia riddled with disease.

Cue King's Mrs. Davis, who called Sheldon into human resources, where he made things worse. "I meant that all women are slaves to their biological urges, ya know? Even you. You’re a slave," Sheldon said. Later on in Season 6, the guys all tried to shower her with gifts after learning she was on the tenure committee, which got Sheldon into more hot water after making some arguably racist comments to her.

Who knows what Sheldon, Leonard, Howard and/or Raj will do in Season 7 that warrants another visit from King's character on "The Big Bang Theory," but we'll soon find out.

When asked about Season 7 guest stars, "Big Bang Theory's" leading lady Melissa Rauch told HuffPost TV, "It's hard to top the ones we've had."

"The Big Bang Theory" Season 7 premieres on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. with back-to-back episodes on CBS.

While you'd have to live under a rock to not know "The Cat In The Hat," "Oh, The Places You'll Go!" and other classic children's books written and illustrated by Dr. Seuss, you may not know a lot about the man behind the pen name, Theodor Seuss Geisel.

Take a look at this rare 1957 photo of the author and his wife Helen outside their La Jolla, California home. At first glance we were surprised by his Mediterranean-style stucco home with a red tiled roof. It looks nothing like the zany colorful dwellings that he came up with for the pages of his books. In fact, the estate and surrounding desert terrain look like an elegant and peaceful place to live and write. We just wonder what he's pointing to in the distance. “Think and wonder. Wonder and think.”

'The Old Lindsay Showed Up'

Lindsay Lohan returns to feature films this week in Paul Schrader's "The Canyons." The new movie is out in limited release and via on-demand services on Aug. 2.

The filming of "The Canyons" with the ever-unpredictable 27-year-old actress was notoriously difficult. The New York Times went so far as to outline Schrader's struggles to work with Lohan in a lengthy profile earlier this year. In a recent interview with HuffPost Live, Schrader recounted his time working with Lohan, questioning why the media has such a fascination with her downfall and reflecting on her trouble to make the right choices.

"A lot of Lindsay's problem is that even when she perceives her own best interests and wishes to act upon them, she can't," Schrader explained. "She loves to live in a cone of chaos and if the situation is not chaotic, she will create something that makes it chaotic."

"I am in touch with her and you can't really talk to her cause she's in rehab but you can text, and I talked to Dina, her mother, last night, and everybody has their fingers crossed," Schrader continued. "She's saying and doing all the right things. She's 27 now, it's time to step up. But only she can do it."

On whether he wished she had taken steps to reform before shooting "The Canyons," Schrader quipped, "That was the irony of the New York Times piece because the Times Magazine was involved before she came on. They were interested in what [writer] Bret [Easton Ellis] and I were up to as a new kind of film-making paradigm. And then Lindsay came in and I said to Lindsay, I said, 'It's gonna be great for you. You know, the New York Times is going to be on set every single day and they're gonna see how responsible you can be, they're gonna see how punctual you can be, they're gonna see what a professional you are, and we will put an end to this myth of you being unreliable.'"

"The new Lindsay didn't show up," Schrader explained. "The old Lindsay showed up."

"Fringe" star Anna Torv has joined Ryan Murphy's HBO pilot, "Open," EW reports.

Torv will play Windsor, “a yoga instructor in a long-term relationship with Holly (Jennifer Jason Leigh), but upon meeting Grace feels an instant connection.” Leigh's character is described as an actress intensely committed to her career, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The role of Grace -- a gynecologist whose marriage and sexuality comes into question after a lesbian encounter with Windsor -- has yet to be cast, but Scott Speedman was previously announced as Grace's husband, Jonathan, a sports marketing executive.

Wes Bentley also stars as Evan, "a handsome blowhard who loves espousing his theories on human sexuality." "Open" is described as as a "a modern, provocative exploration of human sexuality and relationships," and the pilot centers on five lead characters.

Showtime president David Nevins announced the premieres for five of the premium cable network's returning series Tuesday at the Television Critics Association Summer 2013 press tour, including "Shameless," "Episodes," "House Of Lies," "Nurse Jackie" and "Californication."

Matt LeBlanc's comedy "Episodes" will debut alongside "Shameless" and "House Of Lies" on Sunday, January 12. "Shameless" will start off the comedy block at 9 p.m., followed by "House Of Lies" at 10 p.m. and "Episodes" at 10:30.

"Californication" Season 7 will premiere alongside "Nurse Jackie" Season 6 in April. The exact premiere date has yet to be announced.

Showtime also made some more announcements about what and who could be coming soon:

  • The cable network has ordered the comedy pilot "Trending Down," which stars Philip Seymour Hoffman as Thomas Payne and the newly-announced Kathryn Hahn as his wife.
  • Josh Hartnett and Eva Green are the first stars to sign on for "Penny Dreadful," a psychological thriller that centers on Ethan Chandler (Hartnett), "a charming American who finds himself trapped in the darkest corners of Victorian London."
  • Ruth Wilson will star opposite the already-announced Dominic West in "The Affair," a drama pilot about two couples dealing with infidelity.
  • Showtime announced a six-part documentary series called "Time of Death," which will follow brave, terminally ill individuals as they live out their final days.

Sophia Bush On The Hardest Part Of Cory Monteith's Death

Cory Monteith's untimely death was especially gut-wrenching for friends and family who had taken comfort in the fact that he'd recently sought help with his addiction issues, actress Sophia Bush told HuffPost Live on July 29.

During an interview about Bush's hosting duties for VH1's Do Something Awards, host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani asked the former "One Tree Hill" star about Monteith, whom the Do Something Awards honored last year. Bush said that despite Monteith's known struggles with substance abuse, his death was a complete shock.

"I don't know how to phrase it because you don't want to say you're expecting that from anyone, but sadly I think there are some people who we watch as they sort of unravel, and if something like that were to happen, you'd be sad but not necessarily shocked," Bush said. "You'd just be so sad that they never got help."

But that wasn't the case for Monteith, who had just been to rehab in March.

"It's, I think, more emotional for the people who knew and loved him because he was working toward that," she said. "He had just gone to get help."

In his first show back since the July 13 wedding, the late night host joked, "The reason I got married is I needed a panini maker and it seemed like the cheapest way to get it."

The newlywed funnyman cracked several other wedding jokes throughout his monologue.

"I would like to give a special thanks to everyone at the Extended Stay in Pomona who made us feel so welcome. Thank you. Thank you for the late check out."

'Dexter' Spinoff One Step Closer To Reality

$
0
0

The possibility of a "Dexter" spinoff moved one step closer to becoming a reality when Showtime announced it had signed "Dexter" showrunner and executive producer Scott Buck to a two-year overall deal.

Showtime Entertainment President David Nevins announced Buck's new contract at the premium cable network's executive session at the Television Critics Association 2013 Summer press tour.

When asked if a "Dexter" spinoff was still a possibility, Nevins replied, "Of course, we announced an overall deal with Scott Buck today. Draw your own conclusions."

Later, Nevins cautioned that Buck's new contract didn't mean a "Dexter" spinoff was necessarily happening. Conversations about the spinoff are ongoing, but no actual plans are yet in place, he told reporters.

Buck is working on developing several other projects for Showtime, including an adaptation of Matthew Specktor's novel "American Dream Machine," which "Dexter" star Michael C. Hall will also executive produce.

Nevins has been talking about a possible Deb-focused "Dexter" spinoff starring Jennifer Carpenter for months. In April, he told THR that, "This is a core franchise to us and all options are on the table as to where it could go after this ... We need to get through this season and see how the dust settles and then see where we go from there."

"Dexter" is currently five episodes into its final season, and is still pulling in strong ratings for Showtime.

"Dexter" airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime.

Will Brody Die On 'Homeland'?

$
0
0

Could "Homeland" lose Brody -- or another major character -- in Season 3? David Nevins, Showtime's president of entertainment, addressed the possibility at a press event on Tuesday.

During Showtime's executive panel at the Television Critics Association Summer 2013 press tour, HuffPost TV asked Nevins about the fact that he and his executives have multiple agendas -- they must serve commercial goals, i.e. they must get and keep subscribers, and they must also try to allow "Homeland" to be the best it can be creatively. Given that struggle, how is the network trying to balance those two elements? Will the show have to lose cast members eventually, possibly including Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), and perhaps eventually have a rotating cast of characters?

"You can't keep the same dynamic. They will have to change it up. There is no question which master you try to serve," i.e., business needs versus creative goals, Nevins said. "But I've never been scared of change. 'Friday Night Lights' [which Nevins produced] flipped over the entire cast between seasons. Can you ever love the show without the characters you loved initially? You do start to fall in love with other characters and new great actors get turned out. I think same thing is true of 'Homeland.'"

As was mentioned in Monday's "Homeland" panel, the start of Season 3 does not include much Brody. And though Damian Lewis was featured in a Season 3 clip reel shown to the media on Monday, the dynamic between Brody and Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) will be quite different when the show returns Sept. 29.

"Seasons 1 and 2 were really founded on trust and mistrust between Brody and Carrie," Nevins said during the Showtime executive panel on Tuesday. "That still exists in Season 3, but the characters are extremely estranged. They don't know what each other is doing. There's all sorts of poles that the show exists on -- you want Carrie to be a strong, competent action heroine, but you also want her to deal with her vulnerability and her unstable mental condition. You've got to go back and forth and lean in one direction and then lean in the other."

Nevins had spoken previously in the session about how Showtime's model differs from Netflix's and how viewership patterns have changed. He brought elements of that discussion into the "Homeland" discussion as well.

"I want our producers to take risks," Nevins said. "One thing about the new form of television is that it's not about resetting everything back to the beginning at the end of every episode. You more forward in the story. You move forward in time. You take risks, and sometimes, you get beat up for them. But I've said it before -- the enemy of good television is boredom and predictability."

"Homeland" Season 3 premieres on Sunday, September 29 at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime.

Major Parenting Brands Face Off

The Honest Toddler is a hilarious Twitter feed turned blog and book franchise created by Bunmi Laditan, a mom of three. It is beloved by parents.

The Honest Company is an eco-friendly baby product brand owned by actress Jessica Alba. Its products consistently receive favorable reviews.

Now, the two popular brands are fighting over a name.

"It started off really fine with pleasantries, and then it was essentially them asking me to cancel my trademark application and that they would help me cancel it," said Laditan, who has previously blogged for The Huffington Post.

Laditan said she was interviewed on The Honest Company blog and had assumed The Honest Toddler and The Honest Company could coexist peacefully. But in the spring, Laditan said she learned The Honest Company was opposing the trademark application she'd filed in September.

Since then, the dispute has escalated publicly. Laditan has posted her share of rants on Facebook and The Honest Company has dedicated a website to its side of the story, including the text of a snarky email from Laditan.

Laditan's fellow mom bloggers have taken to weighing in on the situation as well, with some accusing The Honest Company of bullying, and others defending the company's right to protect its business and saying it has been generous with Laditan. Carly Kimmel recently tweeted that the clash was getting flat-out uncomfortable.

Latidan argued that The Honest Company's claim that her trademark would prompt confusion in the marketplace has no merit.

"I don't want to create lotions. That's not what I'm about. I'm a writer. I like writing," she said.

The Honest Company, which began selling products in 2012 after several years of development, owns several trademarks similar to The Honest Toddler, including Honest Baby. The company purchased the domain name honesttoddler.com in March 2012, before Laditan started her popular Twitter feed, but the site wasn't active until after she started tweeting. (That's also where readers can find the company's explanation for its fight with Latidan.) The company insists it's simply protecting its brand.

Laditan's own brand has grown since her Twitter account took off. She published a book, The Honest Toddler: A Child's Guide to Parenting, and she has a potential television series in the works with Darren Star, the producer of "Sex and the City," who optioned the rights to The Honest Toddler in June.

Initially, the company and the mom blogger were in cordial communication and appeared headed to a resolution of sorts, as evidenced by a Facebook promotion they participated in together in April. Laditan said she told the company she was open to signing a non-compete agreement.

But Christopher Gavigan, a co-founder of The Honest Company, told a different story. He said he left a conversation with Laditan thinking that negotiations would continue and that she was willing to withdraw her trademark application and agree to license the name Honest Toddler from The Honest Company. He said she was apologetic about publicizing the dispute on Facebook and Twitter.

Laditan said the proposed licensing agreement isn't an option because, among other things, it only would give her the rights to The Honest Toddler for one year. She said she's also miffed that the company reached out to Darren Star about the dispute.

Gavigan expressed disappointment over the communications breakdown and insisted he'd like to resolve the dispute without going to court. He said his company wants Laditan to succeed and is willing to negotiate on licensing.

"We were willing to give her whatever terms she wanted for free," Gavigan said.

But Gavigan said allowing Laditan to proceed with her trademark application isn't an option for the company. He said it would set a bad precedent and be a poor business decision.

"It's not a battle, it's not a court case, no one is suing anyone. ... We have superior rights in a class that she is filing in," said Gavigan. "If we didn't protect those rights, our rights over time would be diminished."

Gavigan acknowledged that the matter is already being debated in the court of public opinion.

"She’s making it bigger. It is not bigger. It's very simple," he said. "Let's have a conversation and come to the table. Let's leave moms and dads to their daily lives, because they have a lot on their plates."

She plays one on the mega-popular Disney show, and her high-scoring stint on "Dancing With the Stars" made her a household name. Naturally, the star also knows a thing or two about stylish activewear -- she recently teamed up with the NFL to launch a seriously rad line of apparel that'll please football fans and fashionistas alike.

We grabbed a few moments with the triple threat during her photo shoot to get the scoop on her fall fashion essentials, starring role on Shake It Up, and highly-anticipated album.

As the new face of NFL apparel, we have to ask: Do you have a favorite football team?
Definitely the Raiders! They do struggle, but I'm from Oakland, California, so technically I have to love them.

You've got a lot of style on and off the red carpet. What's your secret to making a statement?
When it comes to the red carpet, I want to wear the things that people are only thinking about wearing -- before everyone else does it. You know when you put together a look that doesn't seem like it'll work at first, but then you actually try it on and it's like magic? That's what I go for.

Any wardrobe must-haves?
In my personal life, I'm more of a tomboy, so I think every girl needs a good pair of leather sweatpants. They're so comfortable, and you can dress them up with heels like Rihanna does, or down with some tennis shoes.

What's your advice for the perfect first-day-of-school outfit?
Never wear your best outfit on the first day. The first week of school will come and go, and before you know it, you'll be back to all of your regular clothes. So my number-one tip is to always mix new pieces with your old stuff so that everything looks new. It'll expand your wardrobe and make your new clothes last longer, too!

What do you have coming up this fall?
My single "Replay" just came out, so that's a really big deal! The video will premiere mid-August, and the album will drop in September, which is very exciting. Plus, I have a book coming out, too!

Wow, you're busy! What's it like doing all of that while working on "Shake It Up"?
It's a lot of fun, and kind of like school -- in a good way. We learn so much every day on set. We eat lunch together, do fun stuff, and even have a secret candy drawer! It's such a positive environment, and we like to keep it that way.

You also made a big splash on another hit TV show, "Dancing With the Stars." Do you plan to keep ballroom dancing, too?
I would love to! I have a newfound passion for it. It took so much more than I expected and is a lot harder than people think. I don't know when I'll have time, but I definitely want to keep it up.
