Look Who Will Be At This Year's White House Easter Egg Roll!

WASHINGTON -- The White House Easter Egg Roll has announced the 2013 guest list. Over fifty iconic real and fictional characters will bring joy and cheer in a sometimes-costumed form to nearly 35,000 children and parents on April 1.

Click through the slideshow to see the 50+ real and costumed characters that will be on the White House lawn:

The release of the guest list is one more hint that the roll really will go on. As recently as March 19 White House press secretary Jay Carney was still reassuring the public that, regardless of the sequester-related cancellation of White House tours, this tradition wouldn't be axed.

Whether or not you have tickets to the long sold-out event, you can watch a live stream of Monday's event and purchase Bo Obama approved commemorative eggs.

WATCH: First Trailer For 'White House Down'; Roland Emmerich Explains How To Attack 1600 Penn

0
0

Director Roland Emmerich was born in Germany, but for the last 17 years he's had his sight (and sights) set on the White House.

"I always jokingly say that they should put a plaque somewhere in one of the rooms," Emmerich told HuffPost Entertainment. "Or my portrait: 'The man who destroyed the White House the most.'"

Emmerich indeed has experience causing carnage on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. In 1996, he let aliens blow up the White House in "Independence Day"; 13 years later, Emmerich used a tsunami and the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy to destroy the executive mansion of the United States in the disaster blockbuster "2012"; and this summer, Emmerich directs the film "White House Down," which finds Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx teaming up to prevent the domestic enemies from toppling the presidency. The first "White House Down" trailer premieres exclusively on HuffPost Entertainment; watch it above.

"'White House Down' was a script that had so many elements that, for a director, were great," said Emmerich, who was born in Stuttgart in 1955. "It has a lot of humor, a lot of great characters, and -- at the center -- this relationship between an ex-soldier who wants to become a Secret Service agent but gets denied, and the President of the United States," the roles played, respectively, by Tatum and Foxx.

"It's not only about taking over the White House; it's actually doing a coup de tat. It's like 'Seven Days In May,' which I always felt was a movie I want to do," Emmerich said. "I really believe that, as Lincoln said, the only way that America can destroy itself is from within."

To create the White House for "White House Down," Emmerich said he and production designer Kirk M. Petruccelli ("The Patriot") took a few public tours of the facility and relied on some help from Emmerich's memory; the director said President Bill Clinton had invited him over to screen "Independence Day." The result was a near replica of the famed residence, which Emmerich said was about 60 percent the size of the original. Even the ceilings were reconstructed for "White House Down," a detail that Emmerich felt was key because of his desire to use wide-angle lenses to capture the action. As the director noted, however, the interior of the White House is redecorated by each new president, giving Emmerich and his team the option of dramatic license.

"We altered some stuff that I felt was not good-looking enough," Emmerich said. "Some of the kitchen and the residence. It's atrocious! There's a big kitchen fight [in the script] and I said, 'I would not like to see a fight in that kitchen.'"

Added the director: "Jamie Foxx has much better taste than Obama."

Watch the "White House Down" trailer above; the film, which also stars Jason Clarke, Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Woods, is out on June 28.

Marriage Equality In The Realm

The openly gay Lord Renly (Gethin Anthony) may have been killed off "Game Of Thrones" last season, but he's still around when it matters.

As the Supreme Court works to come to a decision on California's gay marriage ban, the realm has made their stance on the issue very clear.

On Tuesday, the series tweeted in support of marriage equality with a customized "Game Of Thrones" symbol. Check it out below:

With the Season 3 premiere of "Game Of Thrones" only a week away, fans are curious about what realm has in store for them. And If George R. R. Martin's words are any indication, the realm will only get bloodier in the seasons to come.

"I have some great stuff planned ... a lot of blood and fire and death and devastation and ravens coming home to roost."

Season 3 of "Game Of Thrones" premieres on Sun., Mar. 31 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.

Justin Timberlake Wins

0

Justin Timberlake did what everyone thought: He rode "The 20/20 Experience" to the top of the Billboard Hot 200 Albums chart.

The Timbaland-produced disc moved 968,000 units to end the week on top. It's the 19th highest debut in Nielsen SoundScan's 22-year history.

It's certainly an accomplishment, especially given that Timberlake absconded radio jingles for a cohesive project that featured eight songs over six minutes in length. But plenty of artists have released albums that have gone platinum in a week. (He's also actually sold a million in a week before: 'N SYNC's 2000 album "No Strings Attached" sold 2.4 million copies, an effort they followed up with 2001's "Celebrity," which sold 1.88 million copies.)

Just last year, Taylor Swift's "Red" moved 1.2 million copies in the seven days after its release. Timberlake and Swift deal extensively in corporate sponsorships; both singers have worked with Target, and Timberlake does the dance with Bud Light (Platinum, for what it's worth) while Swift lights up the displays of pretty much every neighborhood Walgreens.

Swift also sold 1.047 million copies of "Speak Now" in the first week of its 2010 debut. She's the only female artists with two one-week platinum hitters. In May 2011, Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" cleared the hump with 1.1 million records sold in its release week.

Lil Wayne, he of ailing health and a lackluster new album, also topped a milli with with 2008's "Tha Carter II." The disc included "A Millie" and marched to a triumphant 1.006 million units in its first week.

Some other artists who recently moved a million in a week: Whitney Houston ("The Bodyguard" soundtrack, 1992), Backstreet Boys ("Millenium," 1999), Britney Spears ("Oops!... I Did It Again," 2000), Eminem ("The Marshall Mathers LP," 2000 and "The Eminem Show," 2002), Norah Jones ("Feels Like Home," 2004), Usher ("Confessions," 2004), 50 Cent ("The Massacre," 2005)."

Cody Simpson Defends Bieber! (VIDEO)

When Cody Simpson stopped by HuffPost Live on Monday, he had a surprising and awesome announcement: He is going to auction himself off as a date to prom for a lucky fan (!). More details will be released soon -- and that wasn't the only exciting news he shared with us in the interview.

It seems our favorite Aussie singer is going to release a biography, Welcome to Paradise, in October. The book will give a behind-the-scenes look into his rise to fame, from releasing two EPs to getting his first record deal to going on tour with major pop stars like Big Time Rush.

"I could not have, in a million years, guessed that I'd be here right now three years ago," Cody said. "I didn’t expect the outcome, it was all a bit of fun. I never had a singing lesson or anything, and then I signed my deal... it’s such a dream come true."

Watch the full HuffPost Live interview in the videos above and below.

Since September 29, Cody has also been on the "Believe" tour with Justin Bieber. When asked about the negative media attention JB has received recently, Cody defended his real-life friend.

"We’re teenagers, sometimes we make mistakes," Cody said. "It's important to always be sensible and responsible, but at the end of the day we’re teenagers. We mess up sometimes, but we do the best we can to be the best role models we can be."

Simpsonators: Would you take Cody to prom? What do you think of his response to the Bieber drama? Sound off in the comments below or tweet @huffpostteen!

Dorothy Hamill Exits 'Dancing With The Stars'

Dorothy Hamill has left "DWTS."

The Olympic figure skater tearfully announced that due to her spine injury, her doctors advised her to leave the Season 16 competition.

"I have taken the advice of my spine surgeon and I need to withdraw from the competition," Hamill told "DWTS" co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet with a smile though her eyes welled up. "I have an injury that could be irreparable nerve damage and it would be completely unfair for me to stay in this and have any of these people go home. I can't do what I need to and the rest of life, you know, physical, as an athlete, is important. I can't do [pro partner Tristan MacManus] justice and these are the most amazing people who want to be here. It's not that I don't want to be here, but I wish I could give it my all and I can't."

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba said, "I'm sad. I admire you for taking care of yourself. You're setting a very good example."

The audience was on its feet for Hamill, which included her husband John MacColl and her daughter Alexandra Forsythe, who were also teary-eyed.

"It's been a wonderful ride. I wish I could stay," Hamill said before being embraced by the other "DWTS" castmembers. "I just feel so lucky I was part of it for a short time."

During a package before her jive on Monday, the 56-year-old breast cancer survivor said, "I just don't know if my body's going to let me continue dancing." Hamill has a synovial cyst in her lumbar spine, she explained to reporters after the Monday night performances.

I don’t give up,” she told TV Guide. “I made the commitment to do the show and I love it. And as long as I'm not doing anything to make things worse, I want to continue. I really want to learn how to dance and I don't want to leave."

Are you sad to see Dorothy Hamill leave "DWTS"? Share your thoughts in the comments.

"Dancing With The Stars" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

Who Was The First To Leave 'DWTS'?

The first "DWTS" results for Season 16 are in and no one was eliminated.

Victor Ortiz and Lindsay Arnold were the first couple in jeopardy, followed by Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko and sadly, Andy Dick and Sharna Burgess were the final couple in the bottom.

Despite the "DWTS" results, no one was sent home because Dorothy Hamill exited the competition due to injury.

In addition to that shock, many viewers were surprised to see that D.L. Hughley and Cheryl Burke weren't in jeopardy, considering they were way low at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Ingo Rademacher and Kym Johnson were first to be safe (though they couldn't hear the announcement), followed by Sean Lowe and Peta Murgatroyd, Wynonna Judd and Tony Dovolani, Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas, D.L. Hughley and Cheryl Burke (which had them both on the floor in shock), Zendaya and Val Chmerkovskiy, Kelli Pickler and Derek Hough, Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff, Dorothy Hamill and Tristan Tristan MacManus were the last safe couple.

After last night's performances, Zendaya and Val were in the lead, Kellie and Derek were in second and gymnast Aly and Mark in third.

Zendaya and Val earned the encore dance for their jive thanks to getting the most tweets (unsurprising considering the Disney star's tween fanbase).

Icona Pop performed their hit "I Don't Care" and Chelsie Hightower and Dmitri Chaplin returned to dance along with Josh Groban's performance.

Do you agree with this week's "DWTS" results? Let us know in the comments!

"Dancing with the Stars" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

Kanye 'God' Rumor Debunked

0
0

The internethad a field day Tuesday with reports that Kanye West was working on an album titled "I Am God," a rumor that seemed to originate from a parenthetical in a BBC post about what West and Kim Kardashian may name their child (apparently "North" is a name that's in the running).

Given West's habit of being outspoken (and a Rolling Stone cover in which he posed in a crown of thorns), many sites were eager to run with the unattributed factoid. The only problem is that that rumor appears to be a bit of a misunderstanding. A reliable source in West's camp tells HuffPost Entertainment that the title is actual for an upcoming single, and that the album's name has yet to be set. The track will be called "I Am A God" (emphasis added).

"We would never be so presumptuous or sacrilegious to call ourselves the supreme being," the source said. While everyone will have to wait for the actual song to parse the specifics of the song's message, the source hinted that the idea was generally that all people are manifestations of a higher power.

The title is also a reference to Psalm 82, which inclues the following:

I said, “You are gods,
And all of you are children of the Most High.
But you shall die like men,
And fall like one of the princes.”

West's songwriter and spoken word artist Malik Yusef corroborated this report in a tweet to Team Kanye Daily:

'Hoarding: Buried Alive': Even Ron Jeremy Can't Help

0
0

Even porn star Ron Jeremy couldn't help Louise climb out from under her massive hoard. The porn star showed up on "Hoarding: Buried Alive" to work with Louise in trying to clean up the mess she'd been building for three decades. He was the first person to have seen her cluttered apartment.

In those 30 years, Louise had nearly burned through a trust fund that was supposed to sustain her throughout her life. Instead, it enabled her to grow her hoard even faster than the average person afflicted with this malady. Louise used that inheritance to rent a second apartment and multiple storage units to house her ever-growing collection of stuff.

"The reality is that Louise is gonna go broke in about two to three months," her friend Shea revealed.

At first, Louise was making good progress toward cleaning out her space and getting her life back under control, but a checkup after six weeks revealed that it had all fallen apart again. The mess was back and the future was not looking so bright for Louise. Sometimes addictions and compulsions prove too much to overcome.

See more tragic stories of hoarders on "Hoarding: Buried Alive," Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on TLC.

'The Neighbors' Finale: George Takei Says Time To Go Home

0
0

While the first season of "The Neighbors" is wrapping up before the May sweeps period, that doesn't mean it won't be back for a sophomore season. The series pulled out all the stops for this season finale, including guest stars from both "Star Trek" and "Star Wars," as well as several nods to the show and its future being in limbo.

George Takei played Larry Bird's father, who showed up on Earth to bring the Zabrovians back home. But Larry stood firm against him and refused to budge.

"I feel I just need another six, or maybe seven, more seasons, I mean years before I figure it all out," he told his father.

"Four would be fine," Debbie added. It was a clear nod to the uncertain future of the show, as well as the latest in several jokes poking fun at the sitcom world the characters live in.

Then, in the closing moment when Takei's character needed to send a message via toast (don't ask!) to his son, he called on Mark Hamill to help him figure out how to work it. The message wound up at the Weavers house, broken and thrown into the sink. What was the warning? Will the show come back so we can ever find out?

While the show was initially panned by critics, it has held steady in the ratings throughout the season, averaging about 6 million viewers for ABC. A final decision isn't likely until May, leaving fans to wonder and hope.

'Modern Family': What Pushes Claire To Go Wet T-Shirt

0
0

Claire and Cam were hard at work this week on that house they'd bought to flip on "Modern Family." They each revealed the trick they'd been using to manipulate the other along the way. Cam would suggest things way over the top so they could compromise on what he wanted. Claire would overwhelm him with made-up numbers to get her way.

But when it came to a backyard fountain, the two simply could not agree. So Cam brought in an impartial third party -- that he would side with him -- in his lesbian friend Pam, returning guest star Wendi McLendon Covey. When Pam flirted a bit with Claire, Cam realized this wouldn't be as easy as he thought.

Claire took it to the extreme to get her way, first stripping down to her white tank top and even spilling water down the front of it. "Oh, no. Now my shirt is all see-through," she said. The AV Club thought this scene a little low-brow for the show.

When Cam asked if Pam was falling for it, she admitted, "I’m not, but I am enjoying this little show tremendously, so thank you."

In the end, Pam sided with Claire and Cam ignored them both. But his water fountain install backfired when it started shooting goldfish back and forth along with the water. TV Fanatic was laughing right along with them, happy to see this storyline return as it provides plenty of comedic material.

'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' Explores 'Legitimate Rape' Case

0
0

Ripped from headlines has always been a staple of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," but the latest headline ripped was one of its biggest yet. Senatorial candidate Todd Akin used the phrase "legitimate rape" -- saying that victims of that have ways of biologically shutting down their ability to get pregnant -- during his political campaign. In the episode, a congressman was brought in to use that defense in a rape case.

Lauren Cohan ("The Walking Dead") portrayed Avery Jordan, a sports reporter who was raped by her cameraman, played by David Marciano ("Homeland"). Only, one juror bought the "legitimate rape" argument, and he was able to get off on those charges. Then, he sued her for custody of the child, ultimately winning limited visitation. It was too much for the new mother to take, who fled with the child.

While the "legitimate rape" argument was determined a contributing factor in Akin's loss to Senator Claire McCaskill, according to USA Today, it proved successful on "SVU." Or at least, it was successful in the case of one juror, which was enough. All in all, it was a rather depressing case as the rapist walked free and even won visitation, while the victim was terrorized and forced to flee from the law, thus making her a fugitive and a wanted criminal. Sometimes evil does win, apparently.

The case proved particularly close to home for Benson, who hinted that her own conception might have been due to similar circumstances.

See which headline is ripped next on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.

'Real World: Portland': Children Of Alcoholic Dads Unite

0
0

It's been a long time since "The Real World" first entered our lives, and a lot has changed in that time. Reality television has become a dominant genre, and "The Real World" has evolved to match their more sensational approach. "The Real World: Portland" looks to continue that tradition of conflict, wild behavior and general rowdiness.

In the premiere, though, it was all about meeting new people and finding common ground to establish their relationships. For Anastasia and Avery, their common ground proved rather unusual. Things started off normally enough, with both learning that they're from Michigan.

"I don’t have, like, a father in my life," Anastasia said. Neither did Avery. But then came the kicker. "My real dad is, like, an alcoholic," revealed Anastasia.

"So is mine! High five! Yes!” Avery said excitedly. And they actually high-fived over alcoholic fathers. Poor Jordan was dejected with no alcoholic father back home.

Based on the promo alone, The Stir decided they wouldn't be tuning in, writing that "'The Real World' is virtually indistinguishable from 'Jersey Shore.'" The Washington Times agreed, wondering what happened to the show. "When ‘The Real World’ first aired way back in 1992 it was applauded for its exploration of contemporary problems familiar to its core audience," they wrote. "These days ... the cast is nudged towards conflict and encouraged to air their grievances about fellow housemates."

"The Real World" may have lost its soul, but it hasn't lost its audience or appeal. "The Real World: Portland" continues on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.

Kristin Chenoweth Eats Sea Urchin And Hates It

0
0

Kristin Chenoweth had to eat her words on "The Tonight Show," and we mean that quite literally. She hates seafood, but had an old bet with Jay Leno that she would try sushi if Leno wrote a check to her charity, Maddie's Corner. Well, Leno had never written that check -- until she was sitting opposite him on the show.

He handed her a check for $500 and then followed it up by immediately pulling out some sea urchine for her to try. If fans thought her face was filled with expression during her stage performances, they hadn't seen anything compared to her reaction faces to this cuisine.

"That’s the most ... why would anyone pay for that? It’s offensive!" she said after sampling some.

For being a good sport and playing along, Leno did double his donation to Maddie's Corner to an even $1,000. The charity, which is named after Chenoweth's dog, helps to rescue and shelter dogs, as well as educate people on "responsible dog ownership."

Tune in for more surprises on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.

'Arrow': Oliver Recognizes The Symbol On His Father's Book

0
0

The latest episode of "Arrow" saw the emerald archer finally figure out what the symbol on his father's notebook was referring to. It came at the end of the episode after he'd saved one Roy Harper from execution in the old subway tunnels. He noticed that Felicity's map of the subway lines was the same as that symbol.

"It was right in front of our faces the entire time," Oliver said. "My father, the other archer, the undertaking. Whatever the plan is, it’s all connected the The Glades."

Everything they'd been doing is connected to this poor community within Starling City. What that connection means remains to be seen, but ScreenCrush wrote, "If nothing else, the reveal of the Glades’ relation to Oliver’s notebook should give the series a stronger focus heading into the final hours of the season."

Entertainment Weekly had just two words for the big reveal: "bum bum." They were more enthusiastic by the first meeting between Roy and Oliver, writing, "The non-verbal cues they trade back and forth — a partnership foreshadowed or wishful thinking?"

Somebody's got to be Speedy, right? Keep watching "Arrow" on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW to find out what role Roy will ultimately play.

'Survivor': Phillip Loses Challenge, Then Says He Meant To

0
0

So far on "Survivor: Caramoan," the fans have not been well represented. The favorites have dominated since day one, and that continued this week. Thank goodness promos make it pretty clear the merge is upon us. For now, though, the tribes remain hopelessly uneven, with Phillip's tribe out-muscled in every regard.

Phillip, though, thinks he's as strong as anyone out there. But after getting trounced in both challenges this week, he actually told Cochran that he threw the latter one as a strategic move. He wanted to get rid of Julia so badly that he botched it up on purpose.

"It all makes sense, we had to throw the challenge in order to get rid of one of these fans. Or else we were doomed," he explained. Only it makes no sense at all, as the fans were not only outnumbered overall, but they were outnumbered on each tribe as well. There were only two left with Phillip and Cochran.

"You can’t make up this level of delusion," Cochran said of Phillip. That’s what excites me about playing with Phillip. I think he’s actually convinced at this point that he threw the challenge.” Reality Rewind agreed, calling Phillip totally crazy.

In the end, though, Phillip got his wish -- or his plan, as he believed -- and Julia was voted out. HitFix wasn't that blow away by the strategy of the move, writing, "Julia was a non-factor and a non-entity and her elimination was ... an irrelevancy in terms of the season going forward."

Things should definitely get more interesting as the game shifts to its individual format. Do any of the fans stand a chance? Tune in to "Survivor: Caramoan" to find out, Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

'Nashville': Juliette Making Amends, Apologies

0
0

Juliette actually came out from behind her shield of anger and took some ownership to the mistakes in her life on "Nashville." It was a combination of the genuine remorse her mother felt for ruining her birthday, and the wake-up call Rayna gave her after Rayna's daughter was injured at an event because Juliette encouraged all of her fans to show up, leading to a mini-riot breaking out.

During an earlier session, Jolene had insisted that Juliette ignored her outside of a concert and Juliette denied it with anger -- of course. Later, she opened up and apologized. She had seen her mother, but had been too embarrassed by her to acknowledge it. She then invited both Jolene and Dante, who'd been working with Jolene on her recovery, to join her on tour.

"You could be her sober companion, or traveling shrink. Whatever. Maybe mine, too," she said.

Could this be the beginning of the massive wake-up call Juliette has been needing since the pilot? TVLine wasn't sure if it was a good idea to bring those two along on the tour. BuddyTV was worried as well, fearing that Juliette would fall for him as she does with other men in the past.

Tune in for more drama on "Nashville" every Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.

PHOTOS: Adriana Lima Wears Her Red Carpet Gown Backwards

When you're a Victoria's Secret Angel, you can pretty much look good in anything, whether it's a bejeweled set of undies or a metallic bandage dress. But what about a dress worn incorrectly?

Adriana Lima proved her superhuman status once again when she attended the II BrazilFoundation Gala Miami 2013 Monday night. The 31-year-old mom looked pretty flawless in a peek-a-boo gown from Alberta Ferretti's Spring 2012 runway, but there was one hitch: The dress appeared to be on backwards.

Fortunately, the model isn't alone in her fashion faux pas. Stars like Amanda Seyfried and Angelina Jolie have each stepped out on the red carpet in dresses worn backwards (whether on purpose or not...). Of course, we realize that we could be the ones confused -- stars get custom gowns made for them all the time. In fact, Sigourney Weaver just had to clear up reports that her now-infamous Lanvin number was worn back-to-front. "I did not wear it backward. The label is huge, so you’d have to be a cretin not to know which way to put it on. As if you don’t get dressed with 40 people taking care of your hair and makeup!" she told New York Magazine this month.

Moral of the story? If your dress was worn correctly, let us know, Adriana. Either way, you look great. Check out the photos of the look on Adriana and on the Alberta Ferretti runway below and tell us what you think happened here.
