Alison Sweeney Shares Sweet Family Story For HuffPost's #nofilter

These days, our knowledge of celebrities too often originates with paparazzi images and snarky quotes by anonymous "insiders." After a while, it's easy to forget that stars are real people. That's why HuffPost Celebrity decided to launch its all-new #nofilter quick-fire question-and-answer series. Because how well do you know someone until they've shared their guiltiest pleasures?

Alison Sweeney has been a fixture on our TV screens for over a decade, playing Samantha "Sami" Brady on the NBC soap opera "Days of Our Lives." Not to mention she hosts "The Biggest Loser," is an author and a busy mom of two kids, Benjamin, 8, and Megan, 4.

But what does Sweeney like to do during her downtime? She revealed all to HuffPost Celebrity while taking our #nofilter challenge.

When's the last time you cried?
Yesterday on set at “Days Of Our Lives.” I was told to do so by the stage direction in my script.

What's your guiltiest pleasure?
Getting a massage. I absolutely love it, having a massage is the best ever.

What's the silliest thing you've ever lied about?
When I go out for a date with my husband [David Sanov], we have to make it seem really unappealing so that our kids don’t want to come with us.

If you could commit a crime and get away with it, what would it be?
[laughs] Maybe because I’m in New York, I would want to sneak into the Metropolitan Museum at night and be by myself, like in the movie “Night at the Museum.” I’d love to be in there all night long and look at everything.

What's one thing you do when you're alone that you wouldn't do in front of someone else?
When you’re an actor, your modesty and privacy are so skewed. But I don’t like to brush my teeth in front of other people.

What happens in your recurring dream?
I have a recurring dream about being late for work. I wake up almost every day when my alarm goes off and I'm immediately sweating, thinking that I’m late. And if I wake up without my alarm, I think I’m late, like I have nightmares about it.

What’s the working title of your autobiography?
Tom Bergeron stole it! “I’m Hosting As Fast As I Can.”

Is it okay to recline your seat on an airplane?
Of course it is! You should recline yours and then everyone will be reclined together. I’m more annoyed by the person next to me infringing on my space than the person in front of me.

When do you feel most anxious?
With my kids. I try not to let them see it. Like my daughter’s little recital was on Saturday and I have performance anxiety for them.

What or who is overrated right now?
Twerking … overrated.

Is a good friend hard to come by?
Yes and I’m very lucky to have a few good friends. Luckily, you don’t need many, you just need one or two.

Describe one time you thought "This is harder than it looks."
Doing the L.A. Marathon. I remember I was on mile 24 running down San Vicente towards the ocean and so I’m emotionally exhausted and physically exhausted and some guy yelled, “It’s all downhill from here!” And I was like, “What does that mean? What are you suggesting here, Sir?” I was like, “I still have to put one foot in front of the other, that does not help me!” ... I’m so so proud of myself for running a marathon. It’s something I’m not afraid to brag about.

Tell us a joke.
My jokes are all child-friendly, so, “Why is six afraid of seven? Because seven eight nine.”

What are you most afraid of?
I don’t mean to sound existential, but I’m afraid of being afraid. I don’t like fear. I work very hard to overcome any obstacles or fears or hesitations that are thrown my way.

When do you feel most at peace?
With my kids. My husband and I do a lot of fun little things just to hang out with them and be friends with them. We play a lot of music in our house, we’ll have the radio on or my playlist on, and when we’re making dinner, sometimes this great song will come on, like Michael Jackson or something, and all of the sudden, everyone in the family starts dancing. We call it a dance break and we all stop what we’re doing and dance together and be silly. And I know that’s probably not everyone’s definition of peace, but for me, it’s my happy place.

What's the most unusual thing you have in your purse/wallet?
I have a Euro in my wallet that I keep with me as a reminder of a fun trip I took with my friends and my family to London and Paris this year. It was such a great trip, I had such an amazing experience. I almost use the Euro as a quarter all the time and it makes me remember my trip every time.

What technology do you hope will be invented in the next 10 years?
I would really love for them to figure out how to not drop cell phone calls. We’re all into the fancy technology and the cool games that we can all play, but I just want it to work. That would be great, if we could do that.

What sense would you most be afraid to lose?
My hearing. My mother is a musician, my brother is a musician, my in-law is a musician and both of my children will learn to play an instrument and music is an important part of my whole family, life and heritage. To not be able to hear would be devastating to me.

Like most 16–year–old girls, Kylie Jenner doesn't want to be lonely on New Year's Eve. Unlike most, she has over five million Twitter followers to help her feel a bit more secure.

The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star vented on Twitter in the middle of the night:

It didn't take long for her followers to start offering themselves up to help.

Even older sister, Khloé Kardashian, stepped in to help -- as big sister's tend to do -- by joking that Jenner won't have to look too far.

Look's like Kylie has got it covered.

'Edge Of Tomorrow' Trailer Is All About Tom Cruise And Emily Blunt Battling Aliens

"What I am about to tell you sounds crazy, but you have to listen to me. Your very lives depend on it."

Those words are uttered by Tom Cruise, and if you told us they're from one of the actor's Scientology-infused interviews, maybe circa 2005, we'd probably believe you. Alas, fear not -- they actually open the newly unveiled trailer for "Edge of Tomorrow." Based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka's novel "All You Need Is Kill," "Tomorrow" features Cruise and Emily Blunt battling an ornery alien race known as Mimics. The trailer is laden with explosions and sci-fi battle imagery atop gray skies and general apocalyptic doom.

"Tomorrow" is directed by Doug Liman ("The Bourne Identity," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith"). It opens June 6, 2014, and presumably contains no official Scientology musings.

Ellen DeGeneres Responds To Divorce Rumors As Only She Can

There's no need to worry about Ellen DeGeneres' marriage to Portia de Rossi. How do we know? DeGeneres said so herself.

The 55-year-old comedian took some time out of her talk show on Wednesday to address rumors that have surfaced in the last several months suggesting she and de Rossi are split-bound.

"The other day I was at the hair salon getting these extensions put in," DeGeneres joked. "And there were tabloids all over the hair salon... and on one of them, Portia and I were in the top right-hand corner. And I thought, 'Oh that's so sweet, they're honoring us.' But then I read the headline underneath. And it said, 'Ellen and Portia Marriage Crumbles.' And I was like, 'Oh, what happened? They seemed so happy.' And then I was like, 'Wait, I'm Ellen.' And I should know if that was happening."

The talk show host's monologue took a more serious turn -- at least for a little while -- when she shot down the rumors.

“It’s so ridiculous to me. There’s not one ounce of truth to any of it. I’m very happily married. In fact, the only thing we ever argue about is who loves who more. That is all. It really is true," she said. "And we argue if we’d let a kangaroo carry us around in its pouch for a year. I would. She wouldn’t. She’ll change her mind. Who wouldn’t want to be in the pouch of a kangaroo for a year? Hopping around. And she’s like “no” but anyway.”

And if an announcement about some big change in her life ever needs to be made, DeGeneres promised, "I'll announce it here first."

DeGeneres and de Rossi married in August 2008 after four years of dating. At the time, the talk show host called herself "the luckiest girl in the world."

Kanye West Blasts Grammys For Giving 'Yeezus' Only 2 Nominations

Kanye West has a big problem with the Grammys -- again.

While performing in Phoenix, Ariz., Tuesday, Dec. 10, the Chicago native blasted the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for giving his album "Yeezus" only two nominations this year. West was nominated for Best Rap Album for "Yeezus" and Best Rap Song for "New Slaves," but he failed to make it into the Album of the Year category.

"I’m 36 years old and I have 21 Grammys," West told the crowd during his latest rant. "That’s the most Grammys of any 36-year-old. Out of all of those 21 Grammys, I’ve never won a Grammy against a white artist. ... So when the Grammys nominations come out, and 'Yeezus' is the top one or two album on every single list, but only gets two nominations from the Grammys, what are they trying to say? Do they think that I wouldn’t notice? Do they think that, someway, that I don’t have the power to completely diminish all of their credibility at this moment?"

"But no, no. Only positive energy, only positive vibes," he added. "But when you see me talking about what people are doing when I say 'marginalized,' when I say 'boxed in,' when I say 'hold back,' when I say 'people are afraid of the truth,' that’s one example right in front of you. And people come to me and they congratulate me on those two nominations. F--k those nominations."

MTV noted that West has received 53 Grammy nominations over his career and that "Yeezus" has been acclaimed by some as one the rapper's "most challenging and adventurous albums to date."

"Yeezus" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart when it first dropped in June, but sales fell 80 percent just two weeks after the release. Billboard reported it was the fourth-largest second-week slump since 1991.

Some recent reports claim the ticket sales for his Yeezus Tour have been lackluster.

"[H]is scandalous love life, frequent impolite pronouncements and his gradual shift away from conventional hip-hop have alienated many of his fans," The Kansas City Star wrote last week after West's show at the Sprint Center drew less than 4,500 people.

Listen to West's full rant in the video below (around the 10-minute mark).

NEW YORK (AP) — Harvey and Bob Weinstein have sued Warner Bros.' New Line Cinema claiming they're owned a share of the profits from the second and third "Hobbit" films.

In a suit filed Wednesday in New York, the Weinsteins say their 1998 sale of the rights to J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy to New Line applies to all subsequent "Hobbit" films. Warner Bros. elected to split "The Hobbit" into three films, the second of which opens in theaters Friday. Warner Bros. responded with a statement calling Weinstein's sale of "The Hobbit" rights "one of the great blunders in movie history." The studio says the Weinsteins and Miramax agreed to be paid only for the first film based on "The Hobbit," and it says "that's all they're owed."

Queen Latifah Opens Up About Heartbreak, Alcohol And Using Faith To Grow A Positive Self–Image

Queen Latifah is the confident rapper–turned–actress that you loved in "Chicago," "Beauty Shop" and "Last Holiday," to name a few. However, Dana Elaine Owens (Latifah's real name) has had a harder time accepting both herself and her rapid success.

Latifah opened up to Good Housekeeping about how she has learned to be happy with herself, in all aspects of life.

The actress spoke honestly about being a bigger woman amongst the tiny starlets of Hollywood. She told the magazine, "…for a lot of the things I've wanted to do in life, I haven't looked typical, I was not born a size 2. I'm not skinny, period." Still, she learned early on to embrace her beauty and differences. "When I was around 18, I looked in the mirror and said, 'You're either going to love yourself or hate yourself.' And I decided to love myself. That changed a lot of things," she recalled.

Sadly, body image hasn't been the only hurdle Latifah has had to clear. Just as her career took off, her brother was killed in a motorcycle accident. A devout Baptist, Latifah had a hard time accepting the loss. "My life was rocked to the core. And I felt guilty, because I was angry at God," she explained.

Years later, she was the victim of a carjacking in which her friend was nearly killed. The two incidents sent Latifah over the edge and lead her to drinking as a coping mechanism. She confessed, "Drinking a bunch of alcohol, numbing myself. Every day I would be faded, like a painting that's just not vibrant, whose edges are dull, I wasn't living my full life."

Therapy helped the actress to see past her struggles and handle other deep–rooted issues, including the sexual abuse she faced as a child.

Now, Latifah is a brighter and happier person. She credits her faith in God for bringing her through darker days and making her realize that, as she put it, "Nobody is perfect."

Showtime sure has a lot of faith in the Matt LeBlanc-fronted "Episodes." The cable network renewed the show for a fourth season one week before Season 3 even premiered.

"Episodes" follows the "Friends" alum, who plays a fictionalized version of himself. Undoubtedly his ego and his career get bruised as he navigates Hollywood. New guest stars in Season 3 include Chris Diamantopoulos ("24"), Roger Bart ("Revenge") and Tracy Spiridakos ("Revolution").

Just like the previous two seasons, Season 4 will run for nine episodes, beginning in 2014.

"Episodes" Season 3 premieres Jan. 12, 10:30 p.m. EST on Showtime.

Erykah Badu Lands Givenchy's Spring 2014 Campaign Along With More Women Of Color (PHOTOS)

Givenchy always pushes the envelope when it comes to its attention-grabbing ad campaigns. The French fashion house's creative director, Riccardo Tisci, has featured an albino model, a transsexual model and one of the world's chicest mother-and-daughter duos. This time around Tisci is tapping into his music industry ties by casting Erykah Badu in the Spring/Summer 2014 campaign.

We've been fans of the neo-soul singer's music and eccentric style for years -- so it's no surprise Tisci wanted her to strike a pose in a selection of Givenchy's upcoming Africa-meets-Japan themed collection.

SCROLL DOWN FOR PHOTOS

“Erykah, she’s an icon—come on!” Tisci told Style.com. “She’s one of the most stylish women I’ve met in my life. She’s got such a good sense of proportion, of colors.”

While Badu is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, Tisci has also included Maria Borges, Asia Chow and up-and-coming beauty Riley (who we're guessing might be Eboni Riley) in the ads -- which means the entire campaign is modeled by women of color. Hooray!

Considering the accusations of racism on runways and the recent racial discrimination lawsuits against Barneys and Macy's, it's awesome to see a major fashion brand set an awesome example of inclusion. But then again, Tisci reminds us that Givenchy has consistently championed diversity.

"There was a lot of talk this season in fashion," the designer said. "I was one of the persons who ended up not being touched by this. I discovered Joan Smalls, I discovered Maria [Borges]. I've always been supporting them. For me, I grew up in a family and I grew up in a culture, an education, that we are all the same."

Furthermore, Ticsi hopes the images will help others embrace diversity within the industry -- an issue that even he believes has gotten out of control.

“It’s 2013. Everybody’s being so cool about Instagram, about Facebook, any media -- everybody’s being so open. At the end of the day, why are not so many black girls or Latin girls in shows? When you have an American president who is black! When I see this happening, it’s quite sad, I think. People can be so avant-garde, so advanced, but actually not, because people are still making differences between skin color.”

Agreed.

But, while we wait for the rest of fashion to get a clue... feast your eyes on this gorgeous shot of Ms. Erykah Badu getting her supermodel on for Givenchy's Spring/Summer 2014 campaign and a few Instagrams of her and Riccardo working their sartorial magic.

Kourtney Kardashian: 'I've Been Thinking About How I'll Define Beauty' To My Daughter

How young is too young for makeup?

It's a question pondered by parents, school administrators and young women themselves. It's also on Kourtney Kardashian's mind as she raises her 16-month-old daughter, Penelope. The reality star spoke candidly to Into The Gloss this week and mused on the role of makeup in her own childhood:

I've been wearing lipstick since I was in 7th grade. That was our form of daring self-expression, because we had to wear uniforms in school. It made our teachers so angry. Now that I have a daughter, I've been thinking about how I'll define beauty to her. I watched a video of Kendall when she was three, and she was putting on makeup. I don't know how I feel about that. But my daughter already watches me do it. When do you let them start wearing it? I don't know yet.

It might sound surprising coming from one of the Kardashians, they of the darkly-rimmed eyes, heavily-glossed lips and spray-tanned visages. But even Hollywood moms take the makeup question into consideration. Victoria Beckham told German magazine Icon, "I can't put on make-up when Harper’s around, because she would join me immediately." And Drew Barrymore took a more strongly-worded stance when asked about her daughter, Olive, earlier this year:

"Kids shouldn't wear makeup, I strongly feel that way... You should be a kid for as long as possible. I think when you start getting in your teens, then all bets are off, and you should just play, play, play. And figure out what kind of woman you want to be -- the training wheels are off. So kids in makeup, no. Starting in your teen years, absolutely go for it, and start to discover who you are."

But there are those famous moms who seem to have a different approach. Most memorably, Suri Cruise was spotted wearing lipstick alongside mum Katie Holmes, and Heidi Klum's daughters have worn some rather bright lip colors.

Whatever parents and their kids choose is, well, their own choice -- and many women, like Kourtney, might not know exactly how they even feel. What's your take on little girls in makeup?

Makeup or not, celeb kids sure are cute:

Arnold Schwarzenegger Rides A Toy Horse In Bizarre Video

Arnold Schwarzenegger has played a cowboy before, but this clip looks like it could have been a scene out of the classic 1996 flick, "Jingle All The Way."

On Wednesday (Dec. 11), the actor and former Governor of California posted a YouTube video of himself riding a mechanical toy horse at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, and it's as funny as it sounds.

"This weekend I visited the National Finals Rodeo in Vegas. I'm not as ballsy as those cowboys, but the lady running this booth called my bluff when I asked if I could ride the toy horse. As always, an iPhone was watching, so wanted to share the fun with you," the 66-year-old captioned the video.

Sure, why not?

Oprah Opens Up About Her Choice Not To Become A Mother

Throughout her years of doling out advice, giving recommendations and offering famous faces and everyday folks a shoulder to cry on in their darkest hour, at times, Oprah Winfrey seems like a mother to us all. But the queen of media recently admitted motherhood was never in her plans, saying her children would have suffered.

"If I had kids, my kids would hate me," she shared in her cover interview with The Hollywood Reporter, who listed the media mogul in their Women in Entertainment Power 100 list.

"They would have ended up on the equivalent of the Oprah show talking about me; because something [in my life] would have had to suffer and it would've probably been them."

While she said her best friend Gayle King, always aimed for motherhood, the idea of it did not appeal to her.

"Gayle [now a mother of two] was the kind of kid who, in seventh grade Home Ec class, was writing down her name and the names of her children," she said. "While she was having those kind of daydreams, I was having daydreams about how I could be Martin Luther King."

Despite her lack of biological children, she has the chance to utilize her maternal instincts with the students at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. In the interview, she explained how she opens up her home to the young women during holidays, and emails with them every morning when she wakes up sharing advice about everything from building confidence to dealing with boys.

She also serves as a mother of sorts to those now entering the talk show arena, a space she once dominated. She's spoken with Steve Harvey about his program, and Queen Latifah spoke with her by phone for an hour before her talk show launched.

"Don't do it until you have 100 percent creative control to be yourself," Winfrey advised Latifah, whose fall talk show debuted with the highest ratings of the season among new daytime programs.

A leader in every sense of the word, THR honored Winfrey with the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award. However, one award many felt the media queen and occasional actress should've been up for won't be added to Winfrey's list of accolades. While she received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination on Wednesday for her role in 'The Butler,' she was not included in this year's Golden Globe nominations.

Now, all eyes look toward the possibility of an Oscar nomination, as a number of industry experts have labeled Winfrey a front runner for the Best Supporting Actress category. Nominees for the coveted award will be announced on January 16th.

Lea Michele Talks Cory Monteith With Ellen DeGeneres: 'He Was The Greatest Man'

Lea Michele opened up about her late boyfriend, Cory Monteith, while sitting down with Ellen DeGeneres, calling him the "greatest man."

"I'm doing well," Michele told DeGeneres Thursday (Dec. 12). "It's certainly been a pretty rough year, but I've been surrounded by such great people, such great family."

The 27-year-old was referring to the tragic loss of Monteith, who died in July of a mixed-drug toxicity involving heroin and alcohol. He was 31 years old.

After his sudden passing, Michele turned to family and friends in her time of need, including Kate Hudson. Hudson, who appeared on "Glee," lent Michele her home so she could cope in private.

"She was so wonderful to basically give me her home to myself and my family," she said. "It was so helpful to just basically have a safe place to process and to just have a minute to breathe before getting back to my house which has a lot of memories and stuff. So, being some place else to just have a moment was really nice."

The singer, who just released her first solo single, "Cannonball," explained that it was difficult to deal with the paparazzi after Monteith died, but wanted to get back to work to be with the people she loves.

"I really feel like I'm still trying to figure out all of this. It's been only a few months," she told the talk show host, continuing, "I think that at a certain point you can choose to sort of fall from this or you can choose to rise. I'm just trying to do my best for him, because I know that that's what he would've wanted."

Sitting down with DeGeneres seemed cathartic for Michele, who tearily reminisced about the time Monteith stopped by the show.

"It's one of my favorite memories," she said. "I remember when he came home that night, he kind of puffed out his chest and he was like, 'I talked about you on 'Ellen' today.' I was so happy. He's such a private person, and I literally lived every day of my life feeling like the luckiest girl in the whole world. I just thought he was the greatest man. And so, you know, at that moment, that memory, it just means so much to me."

Michele's debut album, "Louder," is slated to drop March 4, according to Billboard.

Jason Segel To Play David Foster Wallace In 'The End Of The Tour'

$

Jason Segel is best known for conjuring up laughs in movies like "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and on the long-running television series "How I Met Your Mother," but his newest role is decidedly less jocular. The actor will portray author David Foster Wallace, who committed suicide in 2008, in "The End of the Tour," TheWrap reported on Wednesday.

Segel will star opposite Jesse Eisenberg, who will play David Lipsky, the Rolling Stone reporter who took a five-day road trip with Wallace that became the subject of an article in the magazine (and the well-received 2010 book "Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself"). The movie, written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Donald Margulies, is an adaptation of "Becoming Yourself."

James Ponsoldt ("Smashed," "The Spectacular Now") is directing the movie, which chronicles Wallace's book tour to promote the 1996 magnum opus, "Infinite Jest." Wallace was on the brink of fame at the time, and "Becoming Yourself" charts his stances on success, popular culture and the depression that would ultimately lead to his demise.

As one of literature's most famous faces of the past 20 years, it seems inevitable that Wallace and his complicated legacy would become fodder for a biopic. Among Wallace's literary compatriots who we'd love to see show up in the movie are ex-girlfriend Mary Karr, known for the best-selling memoir "The Liars' Club," and Jonathan Franzen, the Pulitzer-nominated writer of "The Corrections" and the author's best friend.

Production on "The End of the Tour" is slated to begin in February or March, according to TheWrap.

The only other movie Segel has on the horizon is "Sex Tape," a comedy co-starring Cameron Diaz, Rob Lowe, Jack Black and Ellie Kemper. Eisenberg recently wrapped voice work on "Rio 2" and will next star in the government-manhunt tale "American Ultra" alongside Kristen Stewart.

London Grammar's 'Wrecking Ball' Cover Cuts Down The Destruction

The sweeping pop production of Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball," paired with its music video, evokes a very different feeling than the song's rendition provided by London Grammar. The trio's re-imagination is eerie and somber, the instrumentation reduced to simple piano and faint guitar pickings with Hannah Reid's vocals hovering heavily in the song's suddenly empty space.

When hearing a cover of a song that is drastically different than the original, it's easy to wonder what kind of impact the track would have made were the roles reversed. Would "Wrecking Ball" have been better as the brainchild of London Grammar? Could Miley (and her team of producers) craft her version based on London Grammar's take? Give the song, courtesy of BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, a listen below and let us know what you think in the comments.

Benedict Cumberbatch Is Shamelessly Trying To Get Into J.J. Abrams' 'Star Wars' Sequel (VIDEO)

Beneduct Cumberbatch has been a part of some of the biggest movies in the last few years, from "War Horse" to "12 Years a Slave," and he made a huge impression on J.J. Abrams with with his performance in "Star Trek Into Darkness." But the actor told "Conan" there's another big franchise he wants to be a part of: "Star Wars."

Cumberbatch admitted to shamelessly reaching out to Abrams in an attempt to get a role in the "Star Wars" sequel. "I would leave casual messages on his phone as a light saber," Cumberbatch said. "And then I even went on a chat show and auditioned for Chewbacca. Sat next to Harrison Ford, Han Solo himself.”

According to Cumberbatch, Ford seemed "very traumatized afterwards." For now, though, Cumberbatch can enjoy being a part of yet another enormous genre franchise. He voices the dragon Smaug in "The Hobbit: The Desoluation of Smaug," in theaters Friday.

"Conan" airs weeknights at 11 p.m. EST on TBS.
