George Clooney On His Proposal To Amal Alamuddin: 'I Literally Dropped It On Her'

$

For a man who was once thought to be an eternal bachelor, it sure didn't take George Clooney long to realize he wanted to be with Amal Alamuddin for life.

"It happened pretty quickly," the actor told "CBS This Morning's" Charlie Rose in an interview that aired Tuesday. "I knew fairly quickly that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Amal. But, you know, I have to say, when I asked her...we had never talked about it...there wasn't, like, 'Hey, maybe we should get married.' I literally I dropped it on her."

Clooney said he proposed to the human rights attorney at home with his Aunt Rosemary's records playing in the background.

"Finally, I just said, 'Listen.' You know, I'm 53, at the time, or 52, I think, at the time, and I said, 'You know, I've been on my knee now for about 28 minutes," he said. "So I gotta get an answer out of this, 'cause I'm gonna throw a hip out."

The pair, who first met in Italy, tied the knot in Venice in September 2014.

"I have someone who I can talk to about anything and someone who I care more about than I've cared about anybody," Clooney said of his wife. "So it's really nice."

This isn't the first time the "Tomorrowland" actor has gushed about Alamuddin to the press. At a premiere for the movie recently, he told People magazine that getting married has changed his outlook on the future.

"All I know is that it sort of changed everything in terms of what I thought my future –- my personal future -– was going to be." He continued, "I wasn’t always completely optimistic about how it was going to work out personally for me. But now I am."

Christina Aguilera Impersonates Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus & Others In 'The Voice' Promo

We all know that Christina Aguilera does one hell of a Britney Spears impression, but this is a little different.

In a promo for "The Voice," which will crown its Season 8 winner on tonight's finale, the 34-year-old singer impersonates Cher, Miley Cyrus, Sia, Lady Gaga, Shakira and Britney Spears.

Aguilera has a knack for impressions as we first learned during her turn hosting "Saturday Night Live" back in 2004, and she previously impressed "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" viewers with her spot-on impression of Spears' singing voice, but this time around her take on the pop princess isn't the most flattering.

"The Voice" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m.on NBC.

Kaitlyn Bristowe Chosen As 'The Bachelorette' On Second Night Of Season 11 Premiere

After a two-hour Monday night premiere packed with tears, self-doubt and some less-than-impressive bachelors, we finally know who will star in the 11th season of "The Bachelorette.' Drumroll please ... Kaitlyn Bristowe.

With the Britt Nilsson sent home after just one night, "The Bachelorette" now returns to its regularly scheduled programming. Kaitlyn now has 25 suitors (some of whom had their hearts set on Britt!) to choose between.

With the departure of Britt, it may be back to business as usual for "The Bachelorette," but the show has already ginned up enough controversy for a whole season with its two-Bachelorette gambit. Host Chris Harrison sat down with HuffPost Live and defended the approach, saying, "I love that some people are upset about it, because we've hit a chord with the people who are upset. It's probably an issue you have with yourself or with other women." Not everyone agreed, especially after an agonizing premiere that featured Britt and Kaitlyn seemingly torn up with insecurity and lashing out at each other.

But with Kaitlyn now in the driver's seat, here's hoping the rest of the season is a little stronger on girl power.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Kanye West is apologizing to TV viewers who saw his performance on the Billboard Music Awards.

The rapper released a statement Tuesday saying he was "grossly over-censored" during his performance on the show. He says some of his lyrics were muted for 30 seconds, which misrepresented his voice and performance.

The audience at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena booed as West performed his songs "All Day" and "Black Skinhead" at Sunday's ceremony, which was broadcast on ABC.

West's statement apologizes to the television audience, who he says was "unable to enjoy the performance the way he envisioned."

ABC did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Tuesday.

It was a celebratory night on "Dancing with the Stars" Tuesday as the final three couples found out who would take home the Mirror Ball trophy and be crowned the winners of Season 20.

Spoiler Alert! If you haven't seen the finale of "DWTS," continue reading at your own risk.

Rumer Willis and her dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy were announced the winners, while Riker Lynch and Allison Holker nabbed second place and Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess took third.

Willis' famous parents, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, as well as her stepmom Emma Heming and sisters, Tallulah and Scout, cheered her on throughout the season and were there to celebrate the big win with her.

Before the finale, Willis, 26, took to Instagram to share a sweet photo of her competitors, Lynch and Galloway, writing that she is "so proud to have danced beside such great guys."

This was also the first win for Chmerkovskiy, who made it to the finals three previous times with Kelly Monaco (Season 15), Zendaya (Season 16) and Janel Parrish (Season 19), but had yet to nab the Mirror Ball trophy.

Bill Murray Gets Baked For Final 'Late Show' Appearance With David Letterman

No one makes an entrance like Bill Murray -- and he made one of his messiest entrances ever for his final appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman."

When Letterman introduced the comedic actor on Tuesday night, the curtain opened and revealed...a cake. With Murray inside.

While at least part of the cake appeared to be a prop, Murray emerged covered in cake and frosting. And he wasn't shy about sharing it.

Check it out in the clip above.

In the past, Murray has entered the show as Liberace, Peter Pan, a dumpster diver, a marathon runner and wearing a tux after supposedly waterskiing at George Clooney's wedding.

Murray was the first guest when Letterman's show debuted on NBC in 1982. He was also the first guest when the "Late Show" launched on CBS in 1993. Since there are no interview guests scheduled for the "Late Show" finale on Wednesday night, that makes Murray Letterman's final regularly scheduled guest as well.

Murray and "Late Show" bandleader Paul Shaffer also go way back. The two worked together on "Saturday Night Live," where Shaffer was the pianist to Murray's Nick the Lounge Singer character.

Shaffer told The New York Times on Tuesday that the Nick sketches caught Letterman's eye, and helped him land the gig as leader of "The World's Most Dangerous Band" for Letterman's "Late Night" show and eventually as head of the "CBS Orchestra" on the current program.

An Unforgettable Look At Cher Through The Years, In Honor Of The Star's 69th Birthday

$

Happy birthday, Cher! The singer-actress-celebrity-personality turns 69 on Wednesday, May 20. Here are five reasons why we love her.

1. She is 69 and fierce.
Cher rocks it and flaunts it. We find that pretty inspirational. Cher is the original ... so sorry Lady Gaga.

2. She needs no last name.
For those wondering, she was born Cherilyn Sarkisian but professionally is known as Cher. Sting, Madonna, Drake, Pink and Bono also do this, but think about all the others. Not even Sir Paul goes without McCartney after it.

3. She tweets.
We mean it: She REALLY tweets. Profanity and all. We especially love that she has a sense of humor about it -- and that she laughed off this preposterous suggestion:

4. She has a wig closet that she cleans out periodically and donates old wigs to those undergoing cancer treatment who need them.

5. We've heard nothing but love and support from Cher during her son Chaz' gender transitioning.

Acceptance. Namaste. In short, we adore you, Cher. And so, in honor of your 69th, we've put together an unforgettable mashup (above) that showcases the evolution of your style and spirit.

Happy birthday, lovely lady. May there be many more.

Jared Leto Is Still Trying To Make Fanny Packs Happen

Damn, that fanny pack looks sexy.

No, we're serious.

jared leto

Jared Leto was spotted out and about in New York City this week wearing a muscle tee, neon green hair and yes, a fanny pack. Not only does he still look incredibly hot, but he may be single-handedly bringing back this oft-criticized accessory.

This isn't the actor's first attempt at making fanny packs happen -- he has sported the controversial bag on a number of other occasions, too. Which inevitably makes us wonder: What does he have in there? Moroccan hair oil? A Kangol hat? Extra Manic Panic hair dye? His Tamagotchi? Your guess is as good as ours.

Why FKA Twigs Is The Most Artful Performer In Pop Music

fka twigs congregata

While some may simply know FKA Twigs as the future Mrs. Robert Pattinson (reportedly), the bug-eyed, braided figure from her music videos or an unlikely style icon, she's far more than any of those labels combined.

The 27-year-old British artist, born Tahliah Barnett, played three special shows this week at the sweltering warehouse-turned-venue Brooklyn Hangar, the last of which wouldn't have happened had it not been for her overwhelming fan base. The first two nights of FKA Twigs' "Congregata" show, presented by the Red Bull Music Academy Festival, sold out, thus prompting a third show, which also sold out.

"The name is 'Congregata' and it means 'coming together' in Latin, and this is a coming together of my friends," FKA Twigs said at the end of the Tuesday-night show, her gentle voice breaking through the uproarious applause and "Yass!" screams from the crowd when it could. But FKA Twigs' show is also a thrilling display of the marriage between various dance styles and visual aesthetics. Throughout the nearly two-hour show, one feels like they're witnessing a Cirque du Soleil show transformed into a ballroom drag celebration blended with moving interpretive dance set to a live violinist.

Yet what grounds this eclectic blend of voguing, contortion, acrobatics and performative dance is the moody, throbbing sound of FKA Twigs' music. Performing songs from "EP2" and last year's acclaimed "LP1," with everything from "Two Weeks" to "Water Me" to "Papi Pacify," FKA Twigs balanced the night's energetic performances with her elegiac vocals (which, as we've said before, basically sound like sex).

fka twigs

At one point, FKA Twigs took to the stage sans dancers to sing "Lights On," her voice alternating between the chorus and background vocals, as if wavering between restraint and vulnerability. Few performers have the ability to switch between melancholic hip thrusts and extravagant krumping.

The real treat of the night came when FKA Twigs danced to a rendition of Madonna's "Vogue" -- only to be interrupted by New York's finest voguers. Derek Auguste, Alex Cephus, Javier Ninja of House of Ninja, Dashaun "Evisu” Wesley, Benjamin Milan of House of Milan and Leiomy Mizrahi of House of Mizrahi took over the stage with a full-on voguing tutorial that almost literally brought the house down, as remnants from the warehouse's wooden ceiling rained down on the crowd from the pounding bass.

And still, FKA Twigs knows she's no legend: the humble artist told the audience at the end of the night that she's always conscious of crediting her influences. "It makes me feel uncomfortable when people write on my Instagram or Twitter, 'FKA Twigs: Queen of vogue,' because I'm not," she said. The singer even took the backseat during the show multiple times, stepping back with her band to DJ as four of her all-male dancers showcased their skills onstage. It was difficult, at times, to decide who to watch -- the star of the show or the many bodies fiercely revolving around her.

The most exciting aspect about FKA Twigs is that she's only just begun. She's already evolved since her first EP debuted and is still settling into her prime. Consider her name alone -- the FKA stands for Formerly Known As, a change made after a still-ongoing legal battle over her previous stage name, Twigs -- which puts the performer in a context of continual reinvention. She's an artist simultaneously defined by who she once was and by the ambiguity of her current identity. Who exactly is FKA Twigs, then? We're not sure, but she has our full attention.

'Modern Family' Star Eric Stonestreet Reveals How Playing Gay Changed His Life

Eric Stonestreet may not have known anyone who was openly gay during his adolescent years in Kansas, but his Emmy-winning "Modern Family" turn quickly changed all of that.

The 43-year-old actor, who is straight, told HuffPost Live in an interview this week that he feels "more on the front lines of what it means to stand up for people's equality" after playing Cameron Tucker on "Modern Family," which was just renewed for a seventh season.

"I'm just more active in that community and I feel a little bit more responsible for people's words and actions," he said.

Stonestreet also opened up about some early concerns he had over tackling the role, and said that he felt particularly protective of his co-star, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who is openly gay, noting, "I was worried from the beginning that I was going to be part of a gay bashing of sorts."

Last year, he joked that his character was a "bossy, fussy bottom," adding that many gay fans had approached him in hopes of "challenging" his sexuality.

Taye Diggs To Star In Lead Role In Broadway's 'Hedwig And The Angry Inch'

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - Taye Diggs will return to Broadway for the first time in a decade in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," stepping into the musical's lead role after current star Darren Criss exits in July.

The revival, which launched last year with Neil Patrick Harris and walked away with four Tony Awards, has maintained a rotating roster of stars since Harris left, bringing in actors including Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall, original star John Cameron Mitchell and Criss for stints in the show. No actor has since yielded the high box office that Harris brought to the show.

Diggs' turn in the musical will mark the first time the role has been played in a major New York production by African-American actor; prior performers to play the part in the show's Off Broadway incarnation included current Tony nominee Michael Cerveris and Ally Sheedy. Diggs, who launched his career in the original Broadway production of "Rent" and has also appeared on Broadway in "Chicago" and "Wicked," last appeared on a New York stage in a 2005 Off Broadway production of "A Soldier's Play."

Also the star of TNT drama "Murder in the First," Diggs will star opposite Rebecca Naomi Jones in "Hedwig." He begins his 12-week run in the production July 22 after Criss wraps up his engagement July 19.

"Hedwig" will also take the spotlight at the Tony Awards next month when Mitchell, the co-creator of the show, wins a special Tony Award for his performance in the show earlier this year.

Wit and witticisms from the man himself.

On Wednesday, David Letterman will step down as host of "The Late Show" after 22 years, on top of the 11 seasons he spent at NBC on "Late Night With David Letterman." He's a one-of-a-kind talent whose void in the late-night landscape will undoubtedly be felt.

But let's not get all weepy and teary-eyed just yet. Instead, here are a few of Dave's best quotes. Some are funny. Some are poignant. And the rest fall somewhere in between, where David Letterman was truly a master.

Kristen Bell And Dax Shepard Are Teaching Their Toddler The Ways Of Westeros

It's no secret that Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard love "Game of Thrones." Like, really love "Game of Thrones."

Now it seems their love for all things Westeros is rubbing of on their daughter. In an interview with People, the couple revealed that their 2-year-old daughter Lincoln has picked up the GOT lingo.

"Our oldest one is talking a lot now, and obviously the things that she parrots are hilarious," Shepard said. "We’re big 'Game of Thrones' fans, so we’ve trained her to say, 'Winter is coming.' And 'You know nothing, Jon Snow.' These are catchphrases of hers. You know, standard stuff like that."

Shepard said that Lincoln's mom also likes to dress the toddler up in a Jon Snow outfit. "I got her a pretty cool chainmail suit with a big sword and a hood and a nice sort of felted, fake-fur knight-watch cape," Bell said, adding that she had her costume-clad daughter stand on her castle-shaped jungle gym in the outfit.

"She didn’t understand a lick of it, but it really made me happy."

Someday little Lincoln will understand.

Coldplay Wrote A 'Game Of Thrones' Musical For Red Nose Day

Ever wonder what a "Game of Thrones" musical would sound like? Now you don't have to, thanks to Coldplay.

Chris Martin and the rest of his bandmates penned a "GoT" musical sketch in support of NBC's Red Nose Day, "a campaign dedicated to raising money for children and young people living in poverty." The network teased the sketch, which will air on Thursday, with two clips. The first features Peter Dinklage singing as Tyrion about all the deaths in the HBO series:

The second has a more Coldplay-esque mellow tempo with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau singing as Jaime asking Cersei to lend him a hand (ha ha):

The collaboration between Coldplay and the HBO show is not much of a surprise. Fans will remember that the band's drummer Will Champion had a cameo in the Red Wedding episode. Now perhaps Tyrion and Jorah will sing some Westerosi tunes this season.

"Game of Thrones" airs on Sundays at 9:00 p.m. ET on HBO.

Model Janice Dickinson Sues Bill Cosby For Defamation Over Rape Claims

$

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Model Janice Dickinson sued Bill Cosby for defamation on Wednesday over denials made by the comedian's representatives after she accused him last year of raping her in 1982.

Dickinson's lawsuit seeks unspecified damages on defamation, false light and intentional infliction of emotional distress claims. The suit states Dickinson has been re-victimized and her reputation has suffered because of pointed denials by Cosby's attorney that the comedian drugged and raped her in a Lake Tahoe, California, hotel room more than 30 years ago. The allegations were first made in an interview with "Entertainment Tonight" after numerous other women accused Cosby of drugging them and inappropriate sexual conduct dating back several decades.

The lawsuit states Dickinson, 60, sought a retraction of the denials from Cosby, but the request was denied.

An email sent to Cosby's attorney Martin Singer was not immediately returned. Singer called Dickinson's rape allegations "false and outlandish" in a letter to The Associated Press last year.

The lawsuit details Dickinson's allegations that Cosby raped her after giving her wine and a pill in the hotel room, and how she wanted to go public with her story in a 2002 autobiography but was prevented from doing so by the book's publisher.

She did not report the incident to police in the early 1980s out of fear of retaliation by Cosby, her lawsuit states. The statute of limitations to criminally prosecute the actor-comedian has long since passed, as has the statute on civil claims directly related to the incident.

"This is Janice Dickinson's chance for justice," her attorney Lisa Bloom said Wednesday.

Three women who have accused Cosby of abuse have sued him for defamation in a Massachusetts federal court.

One of the women, Therese Serignese, said after a court hearing earlier this month that she wanted her reputation restored after Cosby's camp branded her a liar.

Dickinson's lawsuit is seeking a similar outcome.

"Cosby knows that he drugged and raped Ms. Dickinson," the lawsuit states. "He knew that calling her rape disclosure a lie was a false statement."

David Letterman's Last Show Could Make Anyone's Top 10 List

David Letterman welcomed Bill Murray as his final regularly scheduled guest on Tuesday, but it's clear the late night host saved the best for last.

Though CBS didn't disclose exactly what would happen on Letterman's final show, the network did promise plenty of "surprises," and that promise got delivered. Letterman's final appearance as host of "The Late Show" included some throwback clips and other moments that were instant classics:

There was a visit from the president ...

A star-studded Top Ten List ...

And Letterman finally accepted that it's not going to work out with NBC ...

Image: Giphy

Even with the retro clips and surprising moments, something that may be lost on the audience is how well Letterman understood late night comedy. Ron Simon, a curator at the Paley Center for Media, told The Huffington Post that before the comedian made his late night debut on NBC, he brought his staff to the Center, then the Museum of Television & Radio, to study up on late night history.

"Dave came over with his writers, and they looked up, especially some of the early '50s early '60s talk show hosts like Steve Allen and Ernie Kovacs," said Simon. "I think that was one of the special things about David Letterman is they were able to take a look at history but do their own unique, surreal spin on it."

Simon called Letterman a pioneer of late night comedy, experimenting in a new time slot when NBC launched "Late Night" and then again breaking the mold and bringing a new, more mature late night show to CBS. Letterman had an "understanding of all the rules, and then he was able to break those rules," he said.

Here's to 33 years of breaking the rules!
Happy retirement, David Letterman!
