Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger continue to have a good time with each other, as well as his family, despite persistent and wrong tabloid reports about how Schwarzenegger’s famous relatives supposedly want him to end his relationship with the pop star. Gossip Cop has repeatedly debunked those claims, and time is proving us right. The duo has been partying this week in Miami, where a number of celebs have headed for Art Basel.

Jenny Slate Looks Smokin' Hot On Our Best Beauty List

Dear Jenny Slate,

You are not only super funny, but you are utterly gorgeous.

The stand-up comedian/actress attended the 24th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City looking fabulous and festive. Slate's brunette hair was styled in brushed-out curls that fell beautifully against her ruby red dress. And she added a pop of color to her milky complexion with taupe eyeshadow and a cranberry lip color.

Get holiday hair and makeup inspiration from Slate's look below and find out which other star's made this week's best and worst beauty list.

BEST: Jenny Slate

jenny slate

Someone give this woman a beauty campaign stat! We just can't stop staring at Slate's hair commercial-worthy mane, eye color-popping makeup and red lipstick shade.

BEST: Suki Waterhouse

suki waterhouse

The 22-year-old British model and actress does retro beauty like no other. Here, Waterhouse channels Brigitte Bardot with thick cat-eye liner, tousled blonde waves and a barely-there nude lip.

BEST: Emma Watson

emma watson

Hermione who? Watson is the picture of sophistication at the British Fashion Awards with her side-swept strands, well-groomed brows, just enough mascara to lengthen her lashes and a matte red-orange lip.

BEST: Naomie Harris

naomie harris

Harris's pink-hued is like a breath of fresh air during winter. Rocking a center part, her chocolate brown hair layers frame her face perfectly.

WORST: Ella Eyre

ella eyre

This English singer-songwriter's big body curls isn't the issue here. It's the heavy face makeup she applied that ended up clashing with her blonde highlights and that black and white fur. A lightweight foundation, brow filler and softer eyeshadow would have turned this don't into a do.

WORST: Aubrey O'Day

aubrey oday

We barely recognized the former Danity Kane band member with this platinum blonde hairdo. O'Day also went overboard with the bronzer, false eyelashes and ombre lip color. Less is always more, ladies!

WORST: Daphne Blunt

daphne blunt

The Disney star surely doesn't need to mask her natural beauty. The camera's flash highlights Blunt's misplaced skin luminizer and that unflattering raisin-colored lip gloss. For teens who'd like to experiment with makeup, we suggest keeping it simple with a tinted BB cream, touch of blush and mascara or eyeliner.

WORST: Tali Lennox

tali lennox

Lennox's unkempt hair and heavy orange eyeshadow reminded us of our college days when we'd roll out of bed, scrunch our hair and run to our morning class. While you don't have to go full glam for the red carpet, Lennox could've skipped the eye makeup and accentuate her lips with a richer pink gloss.

A Week In Kardashians Killing It

It seems like a day doesn't go by where the Kardashian clan doesn't try and break the Internet -- and this week was no exception. While we may not have seen Kim's derrière on the cover of any magazines, we did see a whole lot of Kourtney. The mother of two posed nude (and pregnant) in a recent photo shoot for DuJour magazine and the results were stunning.

But Kourt wasn't the only one heating things up. Kendall Jenner wowed on the red carpet at the British Fashion Awards and on the runway for the Chanel’s Métiers d’Art show (we've got a supermodel in the making, people).

Of course Kim couldn't be left out -- Mrs. Kanye West showed up to two events looking as stylish as ever. And can we have a moment of silent reverence for Khlo in that amazing black jumpsuit?

Check out all the times the Kardashian-Jenner fam killed it this week.

Jane Seymour's Secrets To Feeling Young After 50

SPECIAL FROM Grandparents.com

Actress and host of the new PBS series Feel Grand for people 50+, Jane Seymour (above middle, with her daughters and two grandchildren), talks about aging, plastic surgery, and how she gets the most out of life.

“When I look at my actual chronological age, I’m in shock. I don’t feel like someone in my mid-60s,” says actress, artist and author Jane Seymour, 63, who is the host of the new health series Feel Grand on American Public Television. “I don’t behave like my parents did.” Seymour, a mother of six and grandmother of four, looks decades younger than her age, and makes it clear that how she looks has nothing to do with plastic surgery. “I don’t do Botox or Restylane. I’ve just decided to accept the aging process, and be as happy and healthy as I can for as long as I have the privilege of being here,” she says.

So what exactly does Seymour do to keep herself feeling great physically and emotionally?

1. Make up your mind. “I’ve come to the conclusion that aging is a mindset,” says Seymour. “Of course, the older you get, the more you have to do to stay healthy and well—like exercising a little bit every day and maybe dying your hair, but most important is making the decision to be as healthy and mobile and serene and appreciative as you can.”

How to do it: Set aside a quiet time each day, even if it’s just for a few minutes, to think about yourself, how you feel, your goals and take time to appreciate for what you have.

2. Surround yourself with younger friends. “I enjoy collaborating on projects with much younger people,” says Seymour. “They look at things differently than I do.” She also spends time with her children and grandchildren. “Spending time with them, I don’t feel cut off from what’s going on in the world, I actually feel very much a part of it,” she says.

How to do it: Make a standing date to spend time with grandchildren, doing an activity of their choosing, whether it be baking cookies, playing video games or having them teach you something important to them.

3. Keep your core strong. Seymour swears by Pilates and Gyrotonics, which are low-impact strengthening workouts. “However, just recently I tweaked my back and got a sudden reality check,” she says. “At this age, I listen to my body. It’s a mistake for me to do kickboxing or jog, which can hurt my knees and my joints, so I don’t do them and do other things instead.”

How to do it: Get yourself back in the swing of exercising by walking with a friend. “There’s nothing like taking a one hour walk with someone you like to have a conversation with,” she says. “It clears the head and gets everything moving. Fast walking is even better. And swimming is the best.”

4. Eat dessert. “I’ve always felt that moderation in everything works well,” says Seymour. She eats fresh organic produce that she grows in her yard. She’s also not adverse to having a glass of wine in the evening and coffee to start the day. “When I turned 30, I thought, ‘It’s ok, Jane, you can relax now and enjoy things.’ If I want a cookie or ice cream, I eat it,” she says.

How to do it: Don’t deprive yourself, but do section out snacks or treats, so you only have one or two, not the whole bag.

5. Forgive yourself and move forward. “Huge changes have happened in my life just recently and I’ve worked hard on accepting how things are and have tried to let go,” says Seymour. “Shame and regret don’t get you anywhere and can age you.” She compares life to a wave. “Things rise up—you’re born, grow up, have lots of accomplishments, but then things crash, too, with disappointments and obstacles, but everything always keeps moving. The wave skims the bottom, then rises up again.”

How to do it: Seymour uses centered meditation to try to be in the present moment. “When it comes down to it, the healthiest thing you can do is be present every day, connect with other people, and share your love with family and friends.”

6. Take care of your skin. ”Every night I take off my makeup really well,” Seymour says. “And I nourish my skin with a really good moisturizer, which doesn’t have to be expensive—sometimes the best products are the cheapest.”

How to do it: Seymour believes drinking water is key. “I’m not against plastic surgery, but at the end of the day, I believe good skin comes form drinking water and moisturizing.” She also says there’s nothing like cold water andd ice cubes to tighten skin.

7. Get creative. “Being creative is key to aging well,” she says. “Look at President Bush, who paints all the time. Winston Churchill painted, too.” Being creative allows you to express yourself in many different ways—which makes you feel good. “Sit down and write, try a musical instrument, take a ballroom dancing class,” she says. “What a lovely thing to do, expressing yourself while moving with another person.”

How to do it: If you don’t know which activity to try, start with this: Use your smartphone to take one photo a day of the world around you. “You have your own unique view of the world around you, so document it!” she says.

8. Do not isolate yourself. “Don’t feel that you have to be alone as you get older,’ says Seymour. “Crate your own community. “

How to do it: Feel like you have a purpose and help. Volunteer with a charity or organization, or get involved with other people who share your hobbies.

J.K. Rowling Will Share 12 New Harry Potter Stories Leading Up To Christmas

You don't have to celebrate Christmas to know that this winter is the most magical time of the year, thanks to J.K. Rowling.

In a newsletter to the members of Harry Potter fan-site Pottermore, J.K. Rowling announced that she will releasing 12 new stories expanding on the wizarding world on the site on the 12 days leading up to Christmas. Starting on Dec. 12, each new installment will be posted at 8:00 am ET, and will include "moments from Half-Blood Prince, shiny gold Galleons and even a new potion or two."

According to The Telegraph, one of the stories is set to focus on Potter's former school rival, Draco Malfoy. Rowling made it clear that she was not entirely ready to put her series to rest, providing fans with the first new material since the release of the seventh novel. On Halloween, she posted a story detailing some of Dolores Umbridge's background. In July, Rowling published a tabloid-style column in the voice of Rita Skeeter, focusing on a nearly 34-year-old Harry Potter, his family and his best friends Ron and Hermione as they attended the Quidditch World Cup.

Now, if only we could read these stories at a snow-covered Hogwarts ...

James Franco got a little help while hosting "Saturday Night Live" when his "The Interview" co-star and close friend Seth Rogen crashed Franco's opening monologue to address the recent Sony hack.

In the sketch, the pair said that because of the leak, their most embarassing private photos had been accessed. See the hilarious pictures below, and expect more nudity than in the "Bound 3" video:

After Sony Pictures suffered a major security breach at the hands of online hackers, some believed that North Korea was responsible for the hack, suspecting that it was in retaliation of Rogen and Franco's upcoming comedy, "The Interview." The film, made by Sony, features Rogen and Franco as two journalists who are enlisted by the CIA to assassinate North Korean leader Kim-Jong-Un. North Korea has denied responsibility for the hack, but called it a "righteous deed".

'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' Tops Box Office For Third Consecutive Weekend

$

LOS ANGELES (AP) — "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" continues to dominate the domestic box office, but awards season hopefuls "Wild" and "The Imitation Game" proved their might with impressive limited release showings on this sleepy post-Thanksgiving weekend.

In its third weekend in release, "Mockingjay - Part 1" earned an estimated $21.6 million. Lionsgate's penultimate chapter in the massively successful franchise has now earned $257.7 million domestically, according to studio estimates Sunday. And yet, even though "Mockingjay - Part 1" is on track to become the second-highest grossing movie of the year by mid-week, it's still about $78 million shy of where the previous installment, "Catching Fire," was in its third weekend just last year.

For Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for box office tracker Rentrak, this deficit is only concerning for the overall box office, which is down 4.6 percent for the year. "We are nearing the finish line for 2014 and that is a lot of ground to make up, but luckily we have some big movies on the way," he says of "Into the Woods," ''Exodus: Gods and Kings," ''Annie," ''Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" and "Unbroken."

While audiences wait for that fresh fare, some still turned out to catch up with the leftovers. DreamWorks Animation's "Penguins of Madagascar" took second place with $11.1 million in its second weekend, while the raunchy Warner Bros. comedy "Horrible Bosses 2" claimed third place with $8.6 million. The fourth and fifth place spots went to Disney's animated "Big Hero 6" and Paramount's space odyssey "Interstellar," which earned $8.13 million and $8.0 million respectively.

"The Pyramid," Fox's R-rated horror pic, just barely cracked the top 10 in its debut weekend with a less-than-stellar $1.35 million from 589 locations.

"It's one of those status quo, boring weekends. But it's not boring in the specialized or indie world," Dergarabedian said. "For me that's where the excitement is."

"Wild," a Fox Searchlight release starring Reese Witherspoon, opened in 21 theaters Wednesday, earning an estimated $630,000 over three days for a strong $30,000 per-theater average. The Oscar-winning actress has been getting lots of buzz for her soul-searching turn in the adaptation of Cheryl Strayed's best seller.

The biggest success story of the weekend is The Weinstein Company's Alan Turing biopic "The Imitation Game," which took in an estimated $402,000 from eight locations for a stunning $50,250 per-theater average. Star Benedict Cumberbatch is also expected to be a major contender on the awards circuit this season.

As Dergarabedian puts it: "People wanted to see what the fuss was about and went out in pretty big numbers."

Hugh Hefner Responds To Bill Cosby Sexual Assault Allegations

Hugh Hefner responded to the recent sexual assault allegations against Bill Cosby, including one that allegedly occurred at the Playboy Mansion in 1974.

"Bill Cosby has been a good friend for many years and the mere thought of these allegations is truly saddening," the Playboy mogul wrote in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter. "I would never tolerate this kind of behavior, regardless of who was involved."

Hefner's comments came in response to a lawsuit filed on Tuesday alleging that Cosby molested a woman named Judy Huth at the Playboy Mansion when she was 15-years-old. The LAPD has opened an investigation in light of Huth's allegations.

Cosby's lawyer, Martin Singer, has called Huth's claims "absolutely false," "unreliable" and "untimely." Cosby's team also filed court documents claiming extortion from Huth, according to documents obtained by ABC News. According to the documents, Huth's lawyer demanded $100,000 for her silence, and later increased the amount to $250,000 as additional women came forward with similar accusations.

P.J. Masten, a former Playboy bunny, has also recently come forward with sexual assault accusations against Cosby. Speaking with CNN on Friday, Masten claimed that the comedian drugged and raped her in a Chicago hotel in 1972. She said that her assault wasn't an isolated incident.

"[There are] 12 former bunnies that I know of that are ashamed to come forward, frightened to come forward, married with families [and] don't want to come forward. But they were also drugged and raped by Bill Cosby," Masten said.

Cosby has been accused by more than 15 women of sexual assault allegations. He has never been charged with a crime.

How Shailene Woodley Gets Over A Breakup

$
0
0
Shailene Woodley has had her heart broken over and over on the big screen. In "The Spectacular Now," she's a brainy outcast who falls in unrequited love with a popular boy. Terminal cancer destroys her relationship in this year's "The Fault In Our Stars," and just wait until she finishes shooting the "Divergent" series. But in real life, the 23-year-old Woodley, who became arguably the biggest actress of the year after starring in back-to-back smash hits with cult followings, has her own recipe for getting over a breakup: fall in love with yourself.

It's advice that follows suit with her public persona (you've probably read the interviews in which she describes sunbathing her vagina and making her own toothpaste). "I think when you feel like you’ve gotten your heart broken, it’s probably because you broke it yourself," she said over the phone, speaking from Los Angeles. "That’s counterintuitive, but my experience has been when I’ve been heartbroken, I say take a break. Do you. Taste the world as an individual rather than someone who's in partnership. Learn to love yourself. Learn what makes you laugh and learn what makes you happy.

"I remember when I was 17, I had broken up with someone who was my first love," she continued. "After we broke up, I decided to take a year to know me. I didn't want to date anyone else. I didn't want to look at anyone else. What I found was I had more fun with myself than I ever had with another person. My entire life, I felt like I had to depend on others for entertainment and depend on external experience in order to laugh and find things really funny. I became my own best friend. That was the most beautiful realization I had during that whole period."

At that time, Woodley was still filming the television show that helped give her an audience, "Secret Life Of An American Teenager," and had yet to begin work on "The Descendants," which would land her a Golden Globe nomination. Three years later, her name is beginning to pop up again as awards season rolls around again.

Her stellar performance in the year's tear jerkiest film, "The Fault In Our Stars," makes her a wildcard for a Best Actress nomination, and Woodley suggests the fact that her name has even been tossed around at all says a lot about the film industry. "This is such a big transitional time between women getting granted more roles more than just a girlfriend or a secretary," she said. "So the more movies we see where there are female leads who are strong heroines, the more conversations that start shifting towards that; I think 'Fault In Our Stars' definitely belongs in that conversation." Perhaps the only thing her two highest-profile characters -- Tris in the "Divergent" series and Hazel in "Fault" -- have in common is their strength. "For me, if I’m going to do a big movie that I know is going to have a broad audience, I have to play a strong woman. We’re all flawed and none of us are perfect. If I can represent that messiness and strength then, yeah, I just feel lucky."

In a recent interview with makeup mogul Bobbi Brown for Yahoo Canada, Wilde told the site that after giving birth to her son, she feels even more beautiful:

I feel more beautiful since I became a mother. I feel like my skin is better, I have a different attitude toward beauty. There’s a certain relaxation in becoming a mother. There seems to be an enormous sense of self-love -- I can’t believe I created something so perfect and beautiful. And I look at him and he has the best parts of me and is better than I’ll ever be, and yet I give myself credit for creating him, so I love myself a little more and I think that shows.

It sure does. Looking good, Olivia!

Celebrity Aliases Revealed By Sony Hackers

The massive hack of Sony Pictures continues to reveal confidential information, from salaries and social security numbers to the aliases stars use to check into hotels and reserve car services.

Hackers claim to have stolen 100 terabytes of data in total, and in the latest batch of files leaked by the a group calling itself Guardians of Peace, Fusion discovered a folder containing “publicity bibles” for many of the studio's recent films. The documents contain contact information for directors, actors and crew members, as well as some of the fake names celebrities come up with when they don't want people to know where they are staying.

Since it's not hard to come up with a new alias, we have no problem sharing a few of the phony names stars have used in the past:

  • Tom Hanks: "Harry Lauder" and "Johnny Madrid"

  • Sarah Michelle Gellar: "Neely O'Hara"

  • Tobey Maguire: "Neil Deep"

  • Natalie Portman: "Lauren Brown"

  • Clive Owen: "Robert Fenton"

  • Rob Schneider: "Nazzo Good"

  • Taye Diggs: "Scott Diggs" (His real name)

  • Jude Law: "Mr. Perry"

  • Daniel Craig: "Olwen Williams"

  • Jessica Alba: "Cash Money"

  • Ice Cube: "Darius Stone" and "O'Shea Jackson" (His real name)

  • Debra Messing: "Ava Harper"

The Guardians of Peace first hacked Sony on Nov. 24. While some amusing information has come to light, such as the fact that a few of Sony's employees are tired of making terrible Adam Sandler movies, things took a scary turn last week.

According to Variety, the hackers struck again on Thursday, sending a threatening email to employees that read in part:

Please sign your name to object the false [sic] of the company at the email address below if you don’t want to suffer damage. If you don’t, not only you but your family will be in danger.

Sony Hackers Demand 'The Interview' Be Pulled

The Sony hackers seem to have it in for the Seth Rogen-James Franco film, "The Interview." A note that appears to come from the group that leaked massive amounts of information from Sony Pictures demands the studio not release "The Interview," which follows Rogen and Franco's characters as they try to assassinate Kim Jong Un. “Stop immediately showing the movie of terrorism which can break the regional peace and cause the War!” the note says.

The Wall Street Journal was the first outlet to pick up the note and cites that private investigators and government agencies have linked the cyberattack back to North Korea. (The country, however, denied any involvement on Sunday.) The same note also claims that the hacking group did not send Sony Pictures a letter threatening the company's employees and their families. “We know nothing about the threatening email received by Sony staffers, but you should wisely judge by yourself why such things are happening and who is responsible for it," the note said. "We have already given our clear demand to the management team of SONY, however, they have refused to accept."

A representative for Sony Pictures would not comment when contacted by The Huffington Post.

The hack has leaked documents containing the salaries of Rogen and Franco for "The Interview," upcoming Sony films, passwords, celebrity aliases, employees' Social Security numbers and much more.

For more, head to The Wall Street Journal. "The Interview" is due out on Christmas Day.

Evangeline Lilly Is 'Not Interested In Trying To Pretend To Be A Man'

Evangeline Lilly captured the attention of many as Kate Austen on "Lost." She's now closing out her role as warrior elf Tauriel in Peter Jackson's three-part film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit" and is set to appear as Hope Van Dyne in upcoming Marvel film "Ant-Man." But, despite her interest in playing "kick-ass chicks," Lilly doesn't ever want to compromise her womanhood.

"I don't like the idea of playing a one-dimensional character who is just fearless, strong and killer and has instincts and just thrives in dangerous circumstances –- that's really boring to me and I don't think it represents what most women feel inside," the 35-year-old told HuffPost Entertainment before release of "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies." "I’m very proud of being a woman, and as a woman, I don’t even like the word feminism because when I hear that word, I associate it with women trying to pretend to be men, and I’m not interested in trying to pretend to be a man. I don’t want to embrace manhood, I want to embrace my womanhood."

Lilly says she plays a passive role with regard to her own career, allowing filmmakers to come to her rather than chase them down for roles.

"I have been a bit of a reluctant actress since the get-go, since the beginning of 'Lost,'" she said. "I’ve been focused during the last five years on my writing career and I’ve just been fortunate and lucky enough to have some pretty great filmmakers come to me and say, 'We’d like you to play this role or that role.'"

And that's not all she had to say about marching to her own drum in Hollywood:

What was the experience like shooting with Peter Jackson and his crew on "The Hobbit"?
It was wonderful. Peter is just a ball of fun. He doesn’t take any of it too seriously, but he works harder than anyone and that combination is ideal for me. There’s nothing better in my mind than working with someone who will be up before you, go to bed after you, will work harder than you, but will also keep spirits high and have a good time and be the nicest guy.

How is it shooting on a set that primarily uses green screen?
Personally, as an actress, I don’t like it. And even as somebody watching the film, it’s not my thing. My favorite parts about “The Battle of Five Armies” were the moments where you could clearly see that we were looking at New Zealand. That it wasn’t done in post, it wasn’t CGI, it was the beautiful, incredible creation of Mother Nature in all of her splendor. Peter Jackson spent so much time with his team scouting out the most incredible landscapes in New Zealand and I lamented the fact that I didn’t get to shoot more in those landscapes. Granted, it’s uncomfortable shooting on location -- you have to deal with weather, you have to deal with all these other elements -- but at the end of the day, [shooting on location] is so spectacular and it makes you feel like you’re in Middle Earth ... I mean, I’m a real Tolkien geek.

It must be amazing as a fan of Tolkien to create this character as a part of your favorite stories.
Oh man, it was total fantasy fulfillment. My favorite set that they created was the wine cellars in the Elven Kingdom and I remembered them so distinctly from the book -- they made a big impact on me as a kid -- and to walk on to set and to literally be standing in the wine cellars and have them not only look as good as I imagined, but better, I mean, it’s hard to describe how fantastic Peter Jackson’s film sets are.

What was the most difficult part about playing an elf?
The most difficult part for me was that I was not playing a human being. And I know it sounds obvious, but it wasn’t learning how to fight, it wasn’t learning Elvish, but it was learning how to be un-human and that’s a very hard thing to unlearn when you’ve been doing it your whole life. To learn to talk like an elf and walk like an elf and eat like an elf and smell like an elf and to shift your eyes around like an elf and to gracefully float down a set of stairs like an elf –- that was the hardest bit for me, especially because I have very bad acting hangovers from “Lost.” I played a fugitive on the run for six years. She was a slumpy, attitudey tomboy and an elf could not be more opposite from that. And typically with me I have an involuntary reaction when a director calls “action!” -- I slouch. Just because I did that for six years! And now when the director called “action,” I had to puff up my shoulders and lift up my chin and pull in my gut and be something completely opposite, so that was the most challenging bit.

Did you ever get any pointers, from say, Liv Tyler or Cate Blanchett?
First of all, I would be way too intimidated to ask them about being an elf because they were spectacular in “Lord of the Rings” and I was so nervous that I was somehow supposed to carry on this legacy that they had started and accomplished. What I intentionally did was to not go back and watch “Rings." I knew if I did, I would just try to copy their performances because I’m so in love with them, I just think they’re perfect. And I knew I was creating an elf that was very different from Galadriel and Arwen –- I was creating an elf who was not only a common elf, where they were royalty or high elves, I was also creating a Silvan elf, who in Tolkien’s words were less wise and more dangerous than the elves you met in “Rings.” And I was also a warrior elf, which made me very different from the ethereal, graceful elves. So I made darn sure I stayed as far away from those two women and their performances as possible and just focus on the task at hand and hope for the best.

Tell me about being a woman in Hollywood. Is it hard to find those roles that will help you learn and grow as an actress or do you think there are more roles for women now?
To be honest with you, and I mean this in all humility, I don’t know because I actually don’t seek out roles and I haven’t for a very long time ... I’ve just been fortunate and lucky enough to have some pretty great filmmakers come to me and say, “We’d like you to play this role or that role.” And that’s not to say there haven't been roles I’ve said no to. There have definitely been roles that I read and I think, “Well, that just isn’t exciting, I don’t want to do that.” But it does mean that I am most certainly not an authority on the topic because I don’t go out and read every script out there for a woman of my age, I don’t meet with all the filmmakers, I’m not pounding the pavement or pursuing it in a way that would give me the authority to talk about what’s out there or what’s available. Although I do love the question.

Peter Jackson came to you for the role of Tauriel?
Mmmhmm. In fact, the way I understand it is they kind of tailor-made the role for me. I mean, amazing, ridiculous, like talk about dream come true to have a great director like Peter Jackson have you in mind when he’s creating a part. And a part as cool as Tauriel. In 2004 or 2005, I met him at the Golden Globes and "The Return of the King” had won copious amounts of awards at both the Oscars and the Globes and he said to me then, “If I had met you before I made ‘Rings,’ I would have made you an elf.” And it broke my heart! I was like, “But they’re over! That means I’ll never be an elf!” It was kind of crushing and also a massive compliment at the same time. Then, in the crazy twist of fate, 10 years later, he called me up and said, “Would you like to play a warrior elf in ‘The Hobbit?’”

And your “Lost” co-star Dominic Monaghan was in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy as Merry, of course.
That’s how I met Peter in the first place!

So you were in that “Lord of the Rings” friendship circle for a little while, that’s pretty cool.
It’s a pretty beautiful circle.

Next up you’ll be starring in “Ant-Man.” Tell me about working on a Marvel film.
I keep describing it by saying it sort of feels like you’re working on an independent film with an unlimited amount of money, which is an actor’s dream. I presumed, when I went into the gig, that I would be sort of a pawn, a cog in the wheel -- I would just be a soldier getting my orders and doing what I had to do because Marvel is such a well established brand that they don’t actually have to pander to actors' creative whims. They can do whatever they want, at this point, they’re kind of kings of the superhero universe. So for me, I was extremely surprised when I started working and they not only accepted me, but invited my input into the character. They really allowed me to have a hand in shaping Hope Van Dyne. Peter had sort of spoiled me with my experience on “The Hobbit” with that kind of level of collaboration, and then Marvel came along and did it again and gave me that kind of creative leverage and freedom. So I can’t speak more highly of my experience with Marvel.

You’ve been playing a lot of kick-ass women, which you’re very good at!
It’s funny, because there’s a lot of fear in Hollywood about ever being typecast, and I kind of feel like, "Man, if you’re going to be typecast, what better to be typecast as a kick-ass chick?" I try to put my stamp on these strong female characters, which is the idea that they’re strong because of their compassion, they’re strong because of their vulnerability, they’re strong because of their emotion and they’re strong in spite of their fear. And that’s why I do get involved very heavily in the creative process because I think it’s a dangerous trap that sometimes male writers can find themselves getting into where they’re trying to create a strong woman, but they actually don’t know what female strength looks like. They don’t know what it means and so they create strength that looks manly. And I think it’s really important that young women and women of all ages see female characters that represent true femininity and that that isn’t weak, but that’s strong.

And you are also a writer. You have a children’s book out now. Do you ever plan on writing a screenplay with one of these strong female characters?
I actually have a screenplay that I wrote about five or six years ago that I’m currently in the process of adapting. Weirdly enough, this is going to sound totally ass backwards, but I’m in the process of adapting it into a graphic novel series and a novel series. It’s got a female protagonist who is very complicated and wounded and brave and she does find herself in some pretty amazing circumstances and she does kick some butt, but she’s not in any way one-dimensional. I’m so excited to tackle this writing project. It’s one I’m set to do in 2015 and hopefully 2016 if Marvel will give me that time. You never know when you sign on with Marvel what they’re going to give to you ...

You can be in 15 movies in the next 15 years …
I know, right? [Laughs] Somebody said to me, “Okay, wait a minute. You were on ‘Lost’ for six years, you signed up for ‘The Hobbit’ for three films, and you signed on to a Marvel project which means you could be in unlimited amounts of films and your children’s storybook is an 18-part series? Honey, you have over-commitment issues!”

Julia Roberts Lands Givenchy Campaign Proving Once A Pretty Woman, Always A Pretty Woman

The name Julia Roberts is synonymous with terms including all-American beauty, Hollywood and megastardom -- and now we can add one more to the list, high fashion model.

On Monday night news broke that the 47-year-old actress would star in the Givenchy spring/summer 2015 campaign and the entire fashion community was pleasantly surprised. While Roberts is one of the most famous names in the world, she is also extremely elusive and private, making her a somewhat unexpected muse for the storied French design house.

In an interview with Yahoo Style, Riccardo Tisci, the Artistic Director behind the brand, made it clear that Roberts was the perfect fit. "Julia was my first choice for a few reasons," Tisci explained, adding "I think that she represents such a mature woman... For me, Julia is many things. She has this strength as an actress, but she’s also this beautiful American woman. She’s a big star, but she’s not a paparazzi or a blog monster. It’s going to be my tenth year at Givenchy in March, so I wanted to represent the woman who is more mature, beautiful, talented, but also unpretentious."

In the images, Roberts is seen wearing a tuxedo, a black and white chemise dress and other plays on masculine and feminine dressing, but what we don't see is her famous smile -- which was apparently by design. Tisci told Style.com, “Because [her] smile is so beautiful and everybody knows [her] for that, I think it should be no smile.”

So what does the mother of three think of all this? She told Yahoo Style, "My sister and I were actually just on the phone, and we were laughing so hard. She goes, 'How are you suddenly turned into a supermodel? You’re almost 50.' It’s funny."

Check out more photos from the campaign below and keep your eyes peeled for the ads slated to run in the March issues of fashion publications like Vogue, Interview, CR Fashion Book, Marie Claire and GQ.
