Katie Holmes Says Suri's Christmas List Has Her In A 'Panic'

Christmas is still weeks away, but Suri Cruise has a very detailed list for Santa already.

Katie Holmes appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," for an episode airing Monday, and chatted with the host about how her family is getting ready for the holiday season.

"We are getting ready for Christmas in my house and my daughter's 8 years old and she already has her Christmas list ready," she told DeGeneres. "It's written out -- she's very organized -- and I start to get a little bit of a panic because you cannot screw up talking to Santa. You cannot miss any item on that list because if you screw that up that’s years and years of hearing about it, and then probably therapy.”

Suri apparently wants a puppy this Christmas, plus some very specific accessories for the dog.

Holmes, who lives with her daughter in New York City, recently talked to People magazine about motherhood.

"You do the best you can," she said. "Some days you feel really good about yourself and some days you don't."

Here's What Women Have To Say About The Bill Cosby Accusations

With more than 15 women publicly accusing Bill Cosby of sexual assault, it's unsurprising that the conversation surrounding the allegations has taken place on Twitter.

Famous for being the family man of television, the 77-year-old comedian's cultural presence has often protected him from widespread scrutiny, but the last two months have marked a tipping point in the court of public opinion. Since a clip of comedian Hannibal Buress calling Cosby a rapist when viral in October, the accusations from women against Cosby have snowballed. Despite women coming forward on a nearly daily basis since earlier this month claiming that the comedian had drugged and sexually assaulted them, many people still seem to refuse to see any possible truth in these women's stories.

Apparently, for some it's difficult to see the comedian as anything but Cliff Huxtable, the perfect dad he played on "The Cosby Show." Many women on Twitter however, are explaining why they believe the allegations and stand with the women who have spoken up.

Cosby has largely remained silent on the issue, though his lawyer Martin Singer released a statement calling the media's coverage of the allegations "an unprecedented example of the media’s breakneck rush to run stories without any corroboration or adherence to traditional journalistic standards." The comedian also told Florida Today in a Nov. 21 interview: "I know people are tired of me not saying anything, but a guy doesn't have to answer to innuendos. People should fact check. People shouldn't have to go through that and shouldn't answer to innuendos."

Here's what women on Twitter think about the allegations made against Cosby and how we should be reacting to them:

The New York City apartment of legendary screen actress Lauren Bacall was placed on the market for $26 million earlier this month by listing agent Rebecca Edwardson of Warburg Realty. The apartment is located in The Dakota, the iconic New York building considered one of the city's most exclusive and luxurious residential properties.

Bacall, who purchased the residence soon after Humphrey Bogart's death, lived in Apartment 43 until her death earlier this year. Now, the sprawling apartment overlooking Central Park is being listed by Warburg Realty.

Most of the three bedroom, three-and-a-half bath apartment is outfitted in mahogany and beautiful hardwood floors. The pre-war apartment has nine rooms total, five of which overlook the park. The residence also boasts 13-foot ceilings, multiple fireplaces, a Juliet balcony, library, gallery, "Great Room" and formal dining room.

The Dakota opened in 1884 and was designed by Henry J. Hardenbergh, the same architect responsible for The Plaza Hotel. Since its opening, The Dakota has been home to multiple celebrities and members of the arts, including John Lennon, who was shot outside the building in 1980.

Edwardson told HuffPost Home via email that “No furniture is being offered, though some of it will be available for purchase through the upcoming Bonhams auction."

Russell Brand Points Out The Absurdity Of Being Anti-Immigration In New Special

"You know an immigrant is just someone," says comedian Russell Brand, "who used to be somewhere else?"

In his new stand-up special, "Messiah Complex," Brand hits on a hot-button issue of immigration he explores the media's portrayal of immigrants as different or dangerous instead of what they are: people.

In an exclusive clip, Brand takes a very literal approach in explaining immigration, and further points out the absurdity of fearing others due to "imaginary geopolitical borders." Aren't we all just part of the same, mysterious, rotating sphere?

"Messiah Complex" premieres in the U.S. on Friday, Nov. 28, at 10:00 p.m. ET on EPIX TV.

On a recent episode of the UK's "Graham Norton Show," Dustin Hoffman and Jason Bateman explained why they famously locked lips for the "kiss cam" during a Lakers game in 2010.

Then Norton's audience got a remarkable live example of how a kiss cam works.

Hoffman and another distinguished guest, Judi Dench, who co-stars with him in a BBC version of "Esio Trot," got caught in the show's kiss cam's focus -- and Hoffman didn't hesitate. He climbed on top of Dench and planted one on her.

Not everyone is such a good sport.

Jennifer Lawrence Fangirled Out At Lisa Vanderpump's Restaurant

J.Law makes it known that she loves her reality television shows, but she took her admiration to another level when she dropped by former "Real Housewives" star Lisa Vanderpump's restaurant on Saturday.

As reported by TMZ, Jennifer Lawrence had dinner at Pump with a group of gal pals, sipping on cocktails and posing for photos. Vanderpump, who was part of the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" cast before starring in her own show "Vanderpump Rules," welcomed J.Law with open arms. The reality star joined in on the photo ops and even introduced the actress to her little dog, Giggy.

This isn't the first time the "Hunger Games" star has fangirled out over the "Real Housewives." She told MTV News back in December 2013 that her accent in "American Hustle" may have been influenced by the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" cast:

“I can’t tell where it came from because I just kind of started speaking in it, and I’ve been watching a lot of reality TV shows and those reality TV shows have a lot of New Jersey women, so I can’t say that it’s not from them,” she said.

The 24-year-old again sung the praises of the "Real Housewives" this past October in an interview for Vanity Fair. She told the magazine that she's looking for a romantic partner who watches the same reality shows as she does. Take note, fellas.

Twitter Racism Strikes Again Against Pitbull At The AMAs

Twitter racism has struck again against Pitbull.

The Miami-born star hosted the American Music Awards for the second year in a row on Sunday night, but many twitter users weren’t happy about his intermittent use of Spanish.

Throughout his career Pitbull, 33, has embraced his Latino roots by using Spanish in his music, most notably his catchphrase “Dale!” So it’s no surprise that the Cuban-American artist opened the show with a joke about how his use of Spanish has a positive impact on ratings.

"ABC found out last year that when I spoke just three Spanish words, ratings went up 142 percent, so get ready for three hours of just subtitles!" Pitbull said before delving into Spanish momentarily, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "That’s another four million viewers!”

But some people were not so keen on the use of Spanish and went us far as to criticize the rapper’s English.

Dozens of similar comments come up if you search "Pitbull English" on Twitter, take a look here. Fortunately it wasn’t all hate for Pitbull. Some defended the star while others expressed how much they loved his Spanglish.

The negative comments, however, are nothing new for Latino celebrities. Last year, Pitbull himself was called "Mexican" by several tweeters while hosting the AMAs (Which explains why the star opened with this joke: "You guys already know I'm Cuban, but you know America, not all Latinos are Mexican — maybe we are.")

New York-born salsa star Marc Anthony also received a downpour of racist remarks after performing “God Bless America” at the 2013 MLB All-Star game. And let’s not forget the hate 11-year-old Texas native Sebastien De La Cruz received after performing the National Anthem at the 2013 NBA Finals donning a mariachi ensemble.

The good news is that Pitbull seemed rather unfazed (or unaware) of what was being said on Twitter about his Spanish.

Meryl Streep, Stevie Wonder Among 18 Awarded Presidential Medal Of Freedom By Obama

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama said this year's recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom made the world stronger, wiser, more beautiful and more humane.

Obama praised the 18 artists, activists and lawmakers receiving the award at a White House ceremony on Monday. Among the recipients are Ethel Kennedy, actress Meryl Streep and singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder. Obama said Streep's talent is so immense that she "has no peers." He praised her work to promote empathy on and off the screen.

He called Wonder a musical prodigy whose warmth and humanity can be heard in every note of his music.

Others receiving the award included NBC journalist Tom Brokaw, author Isabel Allende and Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., the longest-serving member of Congress who is retiring at the end of the year.

The list also included Native American activist Suzan Harjo, actress Marlo Thomas, economist Robert Solow, golfer Charles Sifford, former Rep. Abner Mikva of Illinois and physicist Mildred Dresselhaus.

Posthumous medals went to six individuals, among them civil rights workers James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner, who were slain in 1964 as they participated in a historic voter registration drive in Mississippi. Other posthumous awards were for choreographer Alvin Ailey and Reps. Patsy Mink of Hawaii and Edward Roybal of California, founder of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is reserved for individuals who have made "meritorious contributions" to U.S. security, world peace or cultural endeavors.

"This is one of my favorite events," Obama said from the East Room. "Once a year, we set aside this event to celebrate people who have made America stronger and wiser and more humane and more beautiful with our higher civilian honor."

Composer Stephen Sondheim was scheduled to receive the award, but Obama said he couldn't make it and will be included in next year's class of honorees.

Angelina Jolie Says She Wants To 'Be A Better Wife' To Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were together for 10 years before saying "I do" this summer, but marriage has had an effect on the actress.

Jolie spoke about her relationship with Pitt as husband and wife during an interview with "Today."

"It did change in just a feeling of that security and comfort that we always had but that recommitting after ten years of being together," she said. "And we were fortunate enough to be in that unusual situation where we got married with our children and they were a part of the ceremony and they wrote some of the vows. It was all of us agreeing to be together and to just commit to this life together. Not because we had to, not because anything was missing, it was because we were absolutely sure we felt that much of a family and it was that moment.”

Jolie and Pitt tied the knot on Aug. 23 in a private ceremony in France; they had been engaged since 2012.

The union has had an impact on Jolie's mindset, too.

“I think we have more moments where I say, ‘I’m going to be a better wife. I’m going to learn to cook,’ and he says, ‘Oh honey, know what you’re good at, know what you’re not,'" the 39-year-old mother of six added. "But I do have my, 'No, no, no I’m going to get this wife thing down,’ but he knows my limitations and where I’m a good wife and a good mom.”

Jolie and Pitt met on the set of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," in 2004. The two will appear together once again on the big screen in "By the Sea," a film about a troubled marriage, directed by Jolie.

Watch more from Jolie's interview in “Unbroken: The Real Story," airing Dec. 9 at 10 pm on NBC.

The Reason Behind Taylor Swift's Style Choices Will Make You Love Her Even More

Taylor Swift has admitted once and for all that she truly is a "man repeller," and the reason why is pretty amazing.

The 24-year-old, who seems to be just about everywhere these days, is Asos Magazine's January cover star. She looks fierce as usual in a supergirl pose (and unsurprisingly clad in coordinates). But it's what's inside the glossy that really caught our attention.

asos cover

The 24-year-old revealed to the mag that when it comes to choosing outfits, she always keeps one very particular set of people in mind -- her girlfriends. "When I’m getting dressed, it’s always based on what my friends will think. They are my number one priority and the opinions of girls are more important to me at this point in my life," she said.

If that sentiment sounds familiar to you fashion folk, it's because it's exact notion put forth by fashion blogger Leandra Medine. "Man repelling," as made famous by Medine, implies that women dress for other women and not for men.

So we're guessing her friends are big fans of crop tops, then?

Johnny Depp Cares Enough To 'Not Give A F--k' Anymore

Much has been said about Johnny Depp's movie choices over the past few years. "Why Are All of Johnny Depp’s Movies Bombing at the Box Office?" asked the Daily Beast in April. "The Johnny Depp Backlash Is Justified: He’s Lost His ’90s Cool," Flavorwire wrote, echoing sentiments from The Huffington Post when "The Lone Ranger" opened in July 2013.

Now, in a new Details cover story, Depp addresses his own so-called career slump, during which his résumé has been loaded with movies like "The Tourist," "Transcendence" and a fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" installment. As it turns out, his mantra is something along the lines of "Who cares!"

"What is really satisfying is, like Marlon [Brando], getting to that place where he just didn't give a fuck," Depp said. "First, I reached a point where I cared so much and was so diligent in terms of approaching the work. Then you get to where you care so fucking much that it gets goddamn beleaguering, you know? But then a great thing happens. Suddenly you care enough to not give a fuck, because not giving a fuck, that's the total liberation. Being game to try anything."

Trying anything, in terms of Depp's immediate future, means playing the Big Bad Wolf in December's big-screen adaptation of "Into the Woods," a Nazi-era art dealer in the January comedy "Mortdecai" and, of course, more "Alice in Wonderland" and "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies. Perhaps his role as organized-crime big shot Whitey Bulger, in next year's "Black Mass," will recall Depp's better days.

And even if it doesn't, he'll be fine: "For everybody, the clock's ticking," he said. "The main thing is whether you sit there and stare at the clock in fear of your ultimate demise -- which is pointless -- or you just live."

Jennifer Aniston's Wedding Date Is So Secret Ellen Doesn't Even Know If/When It Will Happen

The date of Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's wedding won't be broadcast far and wide, but Ellen DeGeneres wants to make sure she knows to be in town when the big day comes.

DeGeneres had Aniston on her talk show for an interview set to air Tuesday and felt obligated to ask her friend about her upcoming nuptials.

"I know for a fact that I'll know when the wedding is, but sometimes, because it is so secretive, none of your friends ... like when we're invited we just go, 'We can't be in town, but should we be in town?'" she said.

"Our friends Sacha [Baron Cohen] and Isla [Fisher] showed up for like four parties, four little gatherings about a year ago, they would show up in beautiful wedding wear," Aniston revealed. "Even like the Fourth of July last year they showed up, and Sacha was in a powder blue suit and Isla was in a little cute dress, and we were like, 'Guys, it's the Fourth of July. We're in cutoffs, we're eating hot dogs. We will actually let you know!'"

DeGeneres, who said she's "very busy and very tired," apparently goes out of town every weekend and admitted there have been times when she asked Aniston if she needed to attend a particular get-together.

"There has to be a wedding for me to stay in town," DeGeneres joked.

Aniston and Theroux have been engaged since August 2012. They have not announced a wedding date to the press, despite a string of tabloid rumors. Last year, the 45-year-old actress told the Associated Press they are in no rush to wed.

"We already feel married," she said.

Candace Cameron Bure Has 'Full House' Co-Star Dave Coulier To Thank For Her Marriage

Did anyone expect Uncle Joey to be such a great matchmaker?

Actor Dave Coulier played a perfect Cupid for his "Full House" co-star Candace Cameron Bure when he introduced her to her future husband Valeri Bure, and the actress recounted the tale to HuffPost Live during a conversation about her new Hallmark film "Christmas Under Wraps."

The love connection came during the final year of "Full House," she explained:

[Coulier] was playing in a charity hockey game, and so he said, "Hey, there are these two really good Russian hockey players." It was Val and his brother Pavel [Bure]. He invited me to the game, he invited the whole cast, and I went with Lori Loughlin [who played Aunt Becky] and we sat there and were looking at these two really cute boys -- two cute men, I guess -- on the ice, and I was like, "I want to meet that one, the blonde one," which was Val. And that was it.

After the couple was introduced, they went on a date the very next day and were engaged in less than a year. And they made sure to thank the man who made it all happen.

"Dave Coulier still has a hockey stick that my husband signed for him that says, 'Thanks for Candace,'" she said.

'Birdman,' 'Nightcrawler' Among Top 2015 Independent Spirit Award Nominees

$
0
0
"Birdman" "Boyhood," "Selma" and "Nightcrawler" lead this year's Independent Spirit Award nominations, announced Tuesday afternoon. Rosario Dawson and Diego Luna revealed the list for the 30th annual awards in Hollywood.

Those four movies, along with "Whiplash" and "Love is Strange," held onto expectations that they'd make sizable showings in the 2015 Indie Spirit crop. "The Imitation Game," "Wild," "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby" and "St. Vincent" were shut out entirely, while "Foxcatcher" netted the Special Distinction Award but was ineligible in other categories.

Often seen as sending awards season into hyperdrive, the Indie Spirit Awards are the first major nominations announced each year. They champion American films made for less than $20 million, which allow certain movies too low-key or off-kilter for the Oscars' radar to earn awards glory.

This year's nominees include Jenny Slate ("Obvious Child"), Jake Gyllenhaal ("Nightcrawler") and John Lithgow ("Love is Strange"), all of whom have notched spots on Oscar wish lists but are unlikely to prevail when the Academy Award nods arrive on Jan. 15. Indie Spirit trends have shifted in recent years, however, with the nominees more closely reflecting the Oscars. Last year, all four acting awards echoed the Oscar recipients (Matthew McConaughey, Cate Blanchett, Jared Leto, Lupita Nyong'o) for the first time in the awards' history. Julianne Moore ("Still Alice"), Michael Keaton ("Birdman") and Patricia Arquette ("Boyhood") are among this year's nominees widely expected to garner Oscar attention as well.

Read on for the full list of Independent Spirit nominees. The awards will be handed out on Feb. 21, the night before the Oscars.

Azealia Banks' Long, Twisted Road To 'Broke With Expensive Taste'

The following article is provided by Rolling Stone.

By SIMON VOZICK-LEVINSON

On the afternoon of November 6th, Azealia Banks hit send on a tweet to her 523,000 followers: "Voila!!!! Here it is…" Nearly three full years after sharp-tongued single "212" made her an overnight star, the 23-year-old Harlem rapper-singer was finally releasing her long-delayed debut album, "Broke With Expensive Taste." "My heart was pounding," she says now. "I was sitting at my dining table with my head-wrap on, in my panties and a T-shirt, with my iPad. It was just happiness and relief and yes, yes."

One week later, Banks is sitting in the opulent downtown New York apartment of her new manager, Jeff Kwatinetz, a longtime industry mover who released the album on his boutique label Prospect Park Records. Monumental works of modern art line the walls, and Banks, drink in hand, seems entirely at ease. "Now we get to party," she says, smiling. "I made all these fucking party songs, and I'm just like, 'Come on, is it time to party yet?'"

Azealia Banks Trips Out in Surreal 'Chasing Time' Video

Banks had a good reason to withhold any advance warning. "I didn't really believe it was going to come out the day that my managers had told me," she says. Like many fans, she felt burned by a long string of pushbacks over the past two years: "I'd get a date from the label, then it wouldn't come out. You just feel stupid after a while."

Back in January 2012, the rapper signed with Interscope and its British sibling Polydor in her first rush of success. But the relationship quickly soured, and by early this year – with her album complete but no sign of a release date – she was publicly begging the label to drop her. "It was really frustrating," she says. "I prayed a lot, a lot, a lot to get off the label. I was like, 'What the fuck am I breaking bread with these people for, when they're all just playing with my career and lying in my face?'"

Rolling Stone’s 50 Greatest Hip Hop Songs of All Time

In the years since "212," Banks became known as much for her noisy tiffs with other artists as for her consistently inventive music. Lately, though, she says she's been rethinking things. "You know what?" she says. "When you are a woman, it's just much easier to attract bees with honey than with fucking vinegar. And I was giving off a lot of vinegar. I created a situation where they didn't want to listen to me. It was like, 'This bitch is fucking running her mouth all the time.'"

That said, Banks points out that she did a lot of growing up in the public eye. "There's a window of youth where those things are allowed, and I was definitely taking advantage of it," she says. "I was getting my kicks, like, 'Fuck it – I'm 20, 21. I have 3 million dollars. I got a hit fucking song. I'm getting free vodka in my dressing room. The promoter just bought me some weed. They're giving me free clothes. Fuck everybody.' I was having a good time, and I wouldn't take any of it back."

The 10 Wildest Rap Beefs of All Time

You can hear how the industry drama affected Banks in songs like "Ice Princess," which features some of her hardest rhymes. "I felt like I had been auditioning for two years," she says. "I was mad for no reason, and everything was pissing me off. Fuck everything, fuck everybody. I'm going to rip all your heads off and put you in the fucking meat locker."

Last year, she handed a completed album in to Interscope/Polydor. "I thought they were going to like it," she says. "But when I handed it in, they told me that I didn't have a hit." She went back to the studio and recorded "Chasing Time" – one of the most instantly appealing dance-pop anthems on the album – only to be told that the label preferred another song, the twitchy house groove "Soda," as a single. "I just spent a whole 'nother fuckin' four months in the studio trying to come up with some shit, and you want to go with fuckin' 'Soda'?" Banks says, still incredulous. "I really just lost it. That was the day you saw me on Twitter, like, 'The fuck? I'm tired of talking to these white guys about my shit.' It felt like they were playing some sort of head game. And you know I love conspiracy theories. I was like, 'They're trying to brainwash me! Fuck these guys!'"

Rolling Stone’s 45 Best Albums of 2014 So Far

Banks says that Interscope chief Jimmy Iovine had played an instrumental role in convincing her to sign with the label in 2012. In retrospect, she sees his departure from the label as a turning point. "It's really fucked up," she says. "Once he left, that's when it really got bad. I'd see him around and he'd be like, 'What's going on with your new album?' And I'd just be embarrassed to say."

Interscope let Banks out of her contract this July, setting the stage for her to release "Broke With Expensive Taste" through Kwatinetz. The album has won enthusiastic reviews from critics and fans, and Banks is fiercely proud of her work – even if in some ways it represents a past self she's left behind. "I'm just sad for you that it took this long for you to hear it," she says. "This was popping to me when I was 21. A lot of the old songs are a very little girl's way of thinking: 'Yeah, my pussy, mmmm, da da da, I'ma get you with sex.' Now that I'm 23, my lyrical content is a little more mature."
