Duke Porn Star Belle Knox Once Carved The Word 'Fat' Into Her Body

The content of this post may be sensitive to some readers.

You wouldn't know it by looking at her now, but porn star Belle Knox used to feel very insecure about her body.

Knox, a Duke University student who made national headlines in February when she was outed as an adult performer, describes her "nerdy" high school self as having faced some serious hardship in a new documentary web series, "Becoming Belle Knox."

The series follows Knox, whose real name is Miriam Weeks, as she goes about her dual life as both a porn star and a college student. In the third episode, below, while on set for a photo shoot, a makeup artist is shown carefully covering up the scars that stripe Knox's inner thigh.

"When I was like in eighth grade, I cut myself," Knox explains in the documentary. "I had like a hand mirror and I punched it, and I took one of the shards and I wrote the word 'fat' into my thigh, so it would always remind me when I looked in the mirror, that I was fat."

Knox wrote in XOJane last March that "Like many young women grappling with depression, I used to take it out on myself."

She's been "clean" from such self-harm for five years now, she said. The revelation of her previous self-harm is juxtaposed with the photo shoot, where she puts on display the body she's since become proud of.

"I like the assertive, passionate person that I'm becoming because of porn," Knox explains in episode two. "It's such a contrast from being that helpless little girl who had no control over her body to being Belle, this sexually in control, empowered porn star."

Gerard Depardieu Says He Can Drink 14 Bottles Of Wine In A Day

French actor Gerard Depardieu revealed he can drink up to 14 bottles of wine in one, single day. That's a lot of vin.

Depardieu spoke about his drinking habits during an interview with the UK's So Film magazine.

"When I'm bored, I drink," he said. "Apart from occasional compulsory moments of abstinence. After undergoing bypass surgery (five times), and also because of cholesterol and stuff, I have to be careful. Anyway, I’m not going to die. Not now. I still have energy. But if ever I start drinking … I can’t drink like a normal person. I can absorb 12, 13, 14 bottles … per day. But I’m never totally drunk, just a little pissed. All you need is a 10-minute nap and voilà, a slurp of rosé wine and I feel as fresh as a daisy! I have to admit that when I start counting, doctors start worrying."

The 65-year-old actor made a conscious effort to cut back on his alcohol intake after undergoing an emergency quintuple bypass in 2000 following a heart attack, the New York Times notes.

In 2012, Depardieu was arrested for allegedly driving his scooter drunk after he got into an accident during an afternoon in Paris.

The star has admitted to living a life of excess, but says it has never hurt his persona in his native country.

“I think it corresponds to an image that the French love. Someone who is a bit of a rebel, who shakes things up, and is sometimes drunk. It’s a bit of this hooligan spirit which pleases Putin,” he said during an interview last year, referencing his friend and Russian President Vladimir Putin. He later added: “[I’m] drunk sometimes, but my drunkenness is part of my excess. I’ve never jeopardized investors.”

What's better than Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, and Rachel Dratch hanging out together? Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, and Rachel Dratch hanging out together with their kids!

This summer, the four funny ladies got together with their children for what sounds like a hilarious playdate of epic proportions. Tina Fey appeared on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" on September 17, and during her interview, she spoke about her summer in Long Island, where she filmed a movie with Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph.

While Poehler and Rudolph were in town from L.A., Fey and Dratch live in New York City, so the SNL alums took advantage of the opportunity to get their families together. Fey's daughters, Alice and Penelope, are 9 and 3, Poehler has 4 and 5-year-old sons Archie and Abel, Dratch has a 4-year-old son named Eli, and Rudolph has four kids -- 8-year-old Pearl, 4-year-old Lucille, 3-year-old Jack, and 13-mont-old Minnie.

"While we were making this movie, our kids all got to play with each other, which was like, the best little rascals. Just the cutest," Fey said during her "Late Night" appearance. Meyers, who was present for these epic playdates, noted, "It's very easy to pick out -- you know exactly which SNL mom the kids belong to."

Can we come next time?

To promote his book, "Still Foolin' 'Em," Billy Crystal got together with Jimmy Fallon for another hilarious lip flip.

Crystal was actually the original celeb Fallon swapped lips with when he was on "Late Night." Since that time, the host has done the sketch with celebs like Whoopi Goldberg and Tina Fey, but it's definitely hard to beat the original (especially when it involves an attempt to joke about Orlando Bloom and Justin Bieber in Dutch).

"The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.

This little concertgoer felt like princess thanks to one valiant prince.

Last Sunday, 5-year-old Isabelle Nixon was having trouble seeing the stage during the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games -- an international competition for wounded, injured and sick members of the armed forces -- in London, England. Lucky for little Isabelle, Prince Harry, who launched the games, noticed how upset she was and came to the rescue, lifting her onto his shoulders and dancing with her while the Foo Fighters performed on stage, according to Today.com.

"He approached us and smiled at me and just literally picked her up and just started to dance so she could see the stage," Isabelle's father, Adam, the captain of Britain's wheelchair basketball team, told the Daily Mail.

Isabelle was unaware she was dancing with the 30-year-old royal, until her mother, Taryn, told her, "You're dancing with Prince Harry," according to Today.com.

"When she realized who it was, she was lost for words. She just danced along to the Foo Fighters with him and hasn’t stopped smiling since," Adam said, according to the Daily Express.

Taryn told the outlet that the 5-year-old has since been exercising her bragging rights: "Isabelle now says she’s a princess and tells all her friends she danced with 'Uncle Harry.'"

Leo DiCaprio: 'The Argument Is Over. Climate Change Is Happening Now'

green world rising

The short film above, "Last Hours," is the second episode in the Green World Rising series narrated by actor Leonardo DiCaprio and created by Tree Media. Ahead of next week's U.N. climate summit, DiCaprio was named this week a U.N. Messanger of Peace.

By Leila Conners -- Tree Media

We have reached a milestone this year, exceeding a 400 parts per million level of carbon in the atmosphere. While it was reported, has the trajectory we are on been fully understood? In an era where we are still dealing with climate deniers amidst the biggest self-made global catastrophe facing humankind, it is time that the equivocating stop and the media move beyond climate denial.

The reason is simple. The late Dr. Stephen Schneider often reminded us of that we buy insurance for a less than one percent chance that our house will burn down. And yet, we are waiting for 100 percent certainty on climate science even though the very life support system of our planet is at stake. And the science is showing that Earth’s life support system may be truly at stake. Per Dr. Michael Mann and others, business-as-usual emissions could possibly threaten the whole web of life. It is our obligation to take every precaution in our power to prevent that calamity.

The web of life has collapsed several times in the past, including the Permian Mass extinction, during which over 95 percent of all life on Earth perished. We are, with our accelerated burning of fossil fuels, creating conditions similar to those that triggered the Permian Mass extinction. Last Hours, the second film in our Green World Rising series, explains why.

Given the state of the climate debate in this country, we may face consternation that we have told this story. But as Dr. Schneider said, why risk the very life support system of our planet? I believe that people should be treated as adults and be told the truth, even if it is strong medicine. Scientists themselves often have to pull back from sobering conclusions for fear that they get reprimanded. But given the levels of carbon in the atmosphere, it is time to comprehend the whole story. We must all take heed and listen.

The European Union adheres to the notion of the precautionary principle. The burden of proof rests with the state or corporation to prove a specific action or product is not harmful before implementing it. The burden there does not rest on the public or civil society to prove that an action or product is not harmful. In the case of climate change, this is prudent law and much worth implementing here in America.

Here, the fossil fuel industry undermines, obfuscates and threatens those who speak out. This should no longer be acceptable to the media even if it does sell ads. The debate is over. Climate change is happening due to human activity and the burning of fossil fuels. It is time to move on to a sustainable new world.

This new world would be stable and viable. We will show that a world powered by renewable energy resources will allow for a more equitable distribution of income and stable energy prices. Less carbon will be released into the atmosphere, pollution will be reduced and overall health will increase. We need to start putting this world in place immediately, and we are glad to see that it is starting to happen.

To companies sitting on gigatons of still-buried carbon reserves: Please start massively moving into this new world of sustainable energy. Citizens can do what they can, individually, like plant urban gardens, turn off the lights, compost and recycle. But we need companies and bigger players to step up and build the cars that run on electricity (thank you, Elon) and biofuel from non-food resources; make the planes that run on biojet fuel; and create the systems that power our homes and industry with solar, wind and geothermal.

As my late father said, who worked in the fossil fuel industry: Do not burn fossil fuels but rather, use them to make life-sustaining products. The oil molecule and others like it have many undiscovered properties and unlocked potential: burning them is the least interesting and most destructive.

A world based on fossil fuels has no future; so stop fighting for it. And if companies don’t want to invest in this sustainable, economically robust future; that's fine; but don't create barriers that prevent all of us from building this world; please step out of the way.

Humanity still has a bright future if we move as quickly as possible to a world based on renewable energy. Let’s fight for this world, and stop giving credence to the deniers and their junk science that has for so long kept us back and created our current state of peril. It’s time for all of us to work in harmony with nature to build this new world.

Turning the Lens on Langdon (PHOTOS)

2014-09-17-Image_001.jpgQuestion: What do Angelina Jolie, Ryan Seacrest, Frank Sinatra, Serena Williams and I have in common? Answer: We have all been photographed by Harry Langdon, the Hollywood celebrity photographer. It's much easier to make a list of celebrities whom Langdon hasn't photographed than it is to make a list of those whom he has photographed in the past 50 years. For decades, in Hollywood, having a Harry Langdon headshot has been synonymous with success. It was not just because he was the most expensive photographer in Hollywood; it was because being able to afford him did not guarantee access to him.

"Photographing a person is a very intimate experience," said Langdon, who, despite being 79 years old and white, is sought out by rappers like Sean Puffy Combs and bad girls Missy Elliot and Eve. "I believe that there is an energy in a photo session, and if it's a positive energy, amazing things can happen. If you can look at a person lovingly and honestly and gain their trust, the circumstances are irrelevant. The best picture for me is one in which the person lets you see a bit of his or her spirit. It gives the picture a different edge."

2014-09-18-composite3.jpg

2014-09-17-Composite_2.jpg

2014-09-17-HarryJEH22Getty041984.jpgThat different edge is why women like Halle Berry, Vanessa Williams, Sophia Lauren and Raquel Welch swear by him. It is the same reason the Reagan White House, Diana Ross, Cher, Joan Collins, Lee Iacocca and the Osmond family came looking for him. Those who understand the importance of visual perception in the human brain know it is vital to go to Harry Langdon -- or someone like him.

"There are a lot of great photographers," Langdon says modestly. Immodestly I'll admit that I know because I have been photographed by many of them, but Langdon is special. Just saying. The problem is getting to Harry Langdon, especially now, when he is even more selective in choosing subjects. "Everyone has something that is exceptional about them," he says. "Even if they are exceptionally evil, I tap into that, and soon enough I learn why they are that way." He adds, "A photo session is a journey."

Langdon's Journey

2014-09-17-HLstar47HL02FinaBillil.jpgHarry Langdon Sr. was a silent-film star, so Harry Jr.'s life began in the lap of old Hollywood's decadent luxury. Then, on the day of his 10th birthday, fate blew out the candles on that life when his father suddenly died. The world as he knew it went up in a puff of smoke. Harry became a socially awkward, troubled adolescent who dropped out of school in the 10th grade.

"One of the things I love about being a photographer is that I can talk to my clients when the session starts and the studio crew and the entourages are gone, and it's just me and them," he says. "I find out about them. I ask them questions I would be too afraid to ask them at a party. Sometimes they need my help. For example, President Reagan did not know what to do. I remembered being at a Christmas party with him a week prior to our shooting, and he lit the Christmas tree and was so fatherly. I said, 'Mr. President, you are a dad, and you are kind. Look right into the camera and remind me of that." 2014-09-17-RR07BilliMM.jpgThen Harry told me a story about Nancy and Ron Reagan that was so moving that it changed my negative opinion of them. Our iconic figures' unique qualities get our attention, but it is their generic human qualities that keep it. Langdon is the master at revealing the humanness in celebrity subjects.

Other Things Langdon Helped Change

2014-09-17-EbonyCover_Tyson.jpgBefore the 1980s, if a black woman had a great glamor shot, it was more often in spite of the photographer than because of him or her, because the doors to Hollywood's elite photographers were virtually closed to black celebrities. Most celebrity photographers were not well versed in lighting blacks glamorously, and they were not interested in learning. Hence, black magazines were reluctant to use elite white photographers because of this. Cicely Tyson, Harry Langdon and Ebony changed that when Langdon agreed to photograph Tyson for the cover of Ebony in 1979. Since then, Harry has done hundreds of magazine, album, and CD covers and photos of black celebrities. While that is inspiring, it is not nearly as powerful as what occurred with Halle Berry.

2014-09-17-HB06AsDDSmall1999.jpg

"When Ebony chose to me to photograph Halle Berry as Dorothy Dandridge, they did not know I had fallen in love with Dandridge back in 1959," confesses Langdon. "After 15 minutes of perfect poses, I thought, 'I'm not getting Dorothy. I remember Dorothy's pleading for mercy, the thirst for tolerance, the crying and the anger that she exuded on screen -- and off.' I moved very close to Halle and said in a near whisper, 'What is missing is the passion and anger seething inside of Dorothy. She was beautiful, but she was not happy. Surely you must understand that.' She certainly did. The next few moments were some of the most extraordinary moments in front of any camera ever. The congress of beauty, rage, power and remorse that convened on Halle's face and culminated with her in tears was the essence of the Dorothy Dandridge I had known, and one of the great highlights of my career."

He says, "Yes, I have been called upon to photograph many great stars. You ask what's my secret. There is no secret. Not everyone has the power of Sinatra, Halle Berry or Angelina Jolie. However, when you are in front of my camera, for that moment, in that place, you are the greatest star in the world to me. That is what I photograph, the greatest star in the world, at that time and that place."

Thank you for that, Harry Langdon, because since the ancients, humans have always used pictures to preserve the icons of the times, because great pictures and memories do not have to leave, whereas great people do.

Living With HIV: New Horizons

$

In 1988, six months prior to the Olympic Games, at a time when I thought my HIV diagnosis was a death sentence, my thoughts were to lock myself away in my house and wait to die. The choice to train for the Olympics was a decision I didn't come to lightly. Thank God I listened, took my AZT, and continued to train. My decision paid off: I won two Olympic gold medals, reclaiming my championships from the previous Olympic Games, with no boycotted countries. But at 28 I honestly didn't expect to see my 30th birthday.

Now, at 54, I am still here! I didn't allow my HIV take over as an obsession; it's a mere part of me that I've lived with. I did sell my life-insurance policies and ran through my savings, though, and in my 40s I realized, "Heck, I need to get a job!" I had to reinvent myself, so I went back to a sport I loved: diving. I coached developmental-team 8- to 14-year-olds but soon received an offer to become an "athlete mentor" for USA Diving, all of which is chronicled in my documentary Back on Board. It is a poignant film that, on many levels, is informative and inspiring.

A friend from the 50-something "group" and I discussed the challenges facing this population of long-term HIV/AIDS survivors. I'd sold my home, as it was weighing me down with the mortgage and modest income I was now dealing with. I find that this generation of people living with HIV is a big issue, what with housing and living expenses on top of insurance and medical maintenance.

I subscribe to both Eastern and Western treatment for living with my companion, HIV. I take my cocktail of medications in the morning and evening, along with supplements and Chinese herbs, with a once-a-week treatment of acupuncture for immune support as well as pain management for old sports injuries, not to mention staying active with cardio and yoga practices. My exercise program is just as important to me as the medication regimen.

I'm coming up on celebrating my first anniversary of being married to my soul mate, and we are looking at our finances to get a grasp on our future. We are a "serodiscordant" couple, I being HIV-positive and he HIV-negative. We are looking forward to growing old together and simplifying our lives, but at the moment we are struggling with the financial quandary of that 50-something, which will probably be an issue until we get to 65 or 67, when we can take advantage of our IRAs and petitions.

I am finding that this is an issue facing many in my age group. But I'm not giving in to the fears of change but investing my energy into once again reinventing myself.

I am also finding in "recovery," as in AA, a spiritual path of reinvention, finding answers in the stillness of my meditations, putting my faith in inspiration rather than in hope and wishful thinking. The key is action. I might not be moving at the pace I had hoped for, but if I can ask myself each and every day, "Am I moving forward toward my goals?" and am able to say yes, then I am moving at the pace I need to be moving. This is a new skill set I am learning, so I am learning! I remind myself that it took years to perfect a single dive, and that is essentially what I am doing now, honing new skills, and the learning curve might mean having to repeat an action to learn.

I guess my most valued lesson is forgiveness, mostly for myself, and living life on life's terms. I am grateful that I have a husband who understands and is on that same journey with me in his own way. Forgiveness and gratitude!

Namaste,
Greg Louganis

Can We Talk? An Interview With Joan Rivers

2014-09-18-JoanRivers_CanWeTalk_new.jpg

When I was a teenager and new to America and comedy, I used to go wherever comics gathered. Back then, anyone could open a stage, because comics weren't paid. I tried to have some stage time at a showcase at the Hyatt Hotel on Sunset Boulevard and was accompanied by the great comic and my dear friend, George Miller. We were promised a spot, but as the evening wore on, a singer impersonating Jose Feliciano playing a flamenco guitar and another singer were brought on stage ahead of me The emcee got up and told some unfunny jokes and delayed further by bringing up another "foreigner," Yakov Smirnoff. George had had it and dragged me out front, where we saw Tom Dreesen in his car. Tom was on his way to meet us, but Miller said to him, "Take us to Ye Little Club in Beverly Hills," and off we went.

I'll never forget that night. We walked into the club, and Tom introduced me to Joan Rivers. She was larger than life and a woman comic to boot! I felt immediately the warmness and genuineness and kindness of her presence. Joan was standing next to comic Paul Mooney and Marshall Edson, the owner of the club. Tom Dreesen introduced me as a newcomer and asked if Joan could put me on, and Joan, without any hesitation, said, "He'll be on next." Right away I felt like she was giving me 100 percent of her attention.

Then I heard an explosive Paul Mooney yell, "Over my dead body! I'm next!" I thought we might be in for another Hyatt experience when I saw Marshall tap Paul on the back and smile, while Joan looked at me and winked. I think George wanted to avoid any confrontation and said, "You can't stand at the bar; you are underage," and took me outside. While I was wondering if I would ever get on stage, Joan popped out with a glass of Coca-Cola and reassured me that she would be bringing me on next. Then I could hear the applause for the comic leaving the stage and saw Joan turn and run into the showroom and onto the stage. George Miller and Tom Dreesen came to the doorway and said, "Hey, she's bringing you up!" and then I heard that high-pitched, raspy voice say, "If you like me, please give this next guy all of your love and attention. He's an exotic foreigner and a wonderful kid, and he's funny! Please welcome Jamie Masada!"

Now, Paul Mooney had a large afro at the time, and he was well-known because of his work as a Soul Train dancer. He started in: "Oh, no! She did not just do that!" Paul had a very distinctive voice. He kept going, saying somebody should call the police and "get this illegal alien out of here and send him back across the border where he belongs." Paul continued ranting, and I could hear Joan talking to him, trying to calm him down, saying, "Oh, Paul, please, he's a kid." Dreesen and Miller chimed in, saying, "Let him do his act." Mooney kept going; his voice got louder and louder: "I'm a big star on Soul Train, and I have more talent in one of my dancing moves than he ever could have." While he was demonstrating his dance moves and drinking, I made my way to the stage.

I opened with the line that Mitzi, who owned the Comedy Store, had said I should open with: "Hey, I'm from a very exotic desert city, Phoenix, Arizona. Does anybody want to buy some oil?" I then would say, "I have a lot in my hair." That was my opening line, and it was met with silence and strange stares from the audience. Paul Mooney let out a big fake laugh that drew attention to the fact that nobody was laughing. I continued to talk about how in America it's "confusing for foreigners" and recounted the time I was walking down the street and saw a sign that said "Animal Psychiatrist," and I thought to myself, "I would never go and lie down and tell my problems to a German Shepherd."

Well, there was some giggling, so I continued. I talked about how I wanted to find a girlfriend. I said that all the comics had given me the advice that if I wanted to go out with an American girl, I had to spend a lot of money on them. The first time I told that joke, I said, "I walked into a club, saw a girl, and said, 'Hello, I want to buy you a piano.'" David Letterman, watching me at the time, told me that I needed more of a punchline, so I added his suggestion. Now I ended it with the girl coming back at me and saying, "Nah, I'd rather have an organ."

Now I felt like I was on a roll, as I was getting more laughs. I told a few crazy jokes and then ended by saying that another comedian had told me that if I really wanted to meet American girls, I would have to go to dance clubs. He told me, "If you dance a slow dance with a girl, they get excited and go home with you." So I told the crowd that I went to a club and saw a girl who was extremely overweight and alone and asked her to dance with me. It was a slow song, and I think I was holding her too tightly, because she was struggling to breathe. After a while she whispered in my ear, "Can I ask you a question?" I said, "Sure." She said, "What do you use for protection in your country?" I told her, "A stick or a knife." She walked away from me.

People laughed and clapped, and I left the stage

On that note Joan came up, laughing really hard at that joke, and she kept saying, "That's funny! Knife or stick, stick or knife -- that's what you use for protection, really? Did you really use a stick? OK, very funny, young man. Very funny." She was laughing uncontrollably.

Paul Mooney, still irked that he didn't go on, came over and asked me, "Can I see your green card?" Tom, George, Marshall, and Joan laughed. Joan put her arm on my shoulder, giving me a kind, secure feeling that she was there and that I should not be afraid of anybody -- Mooney included. Joan told me, "Anytime you want to come by, I'm in here most of the time," and I could feel that she had a real warmness about her. Most people had come to see her, but she made me feel that I was the source of the merriment. "What a nice lady," I thought.

A few years later, in 1982, I was publishing a magazine for Warner Brothers, and Joan asked me if she could be on the cover, and I said I would be more than glad to put her on the cover.

The interview I did with her for the magazine is below:

2014-09-18-JoanRivers_Magazine_spread_white_L.jpg

2014-09-18-JoanRivers_Magazine_spread_white_R.jpg

As you can see, she was quick, funny, and simply terrific. She was fast on her feet. In 1985, when she was now a huge star, I asked her if she would be on the cover of the magazine again, and without hesitation she said yes.

2014-09-18-JoanRivers_covers1.jpg

As you can see, Joan was simply the best. I remember one time my friend, the actor Robert Harper, a member of the Academy, had two tickets for the Academy Awards, and we got good seats. That night I met so many celebrities, including Paul McCartney, but I particularly remember sitting next to an actress and her husband. I heard bits of their conversation and recall the actress saying, "I hope Joan Rivers saw me and made some comment about my dress." Her husband was saying, "Don't worry about that; we should watch the show," but she was so focused on whether she would be on Joan Rivers' show that the actual show before her eyes played second fiddle. I think the actress knew that the things Joan said about those on the red carpet came from a place of love. Her stingers were a form of tribute.

After I opened my own club, Joan invited me to see a comedian from Bangladesh named Gerry Bednob opening for her in Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. That's where I met Edgar, her husband. I remember that room in Caesars Palace sat over 1,000 people, and each night I was there, before the show started, I stood by the door and saw people coming into the showroom, some with walkers, some with canes, and some with sad faces because they had lost their money. Some of them had brought their families. Some were happy because they were seeing Joan, but most of the faces were unhappy.

By the time they were leaving, however, it was a different story. I was standing by the exit, and I saw these same people with canes and walkers were all walking out, laughing with smiles on their faces. Gerry was next to me, and I told him that Joan was truly a doctor of the soul. Here all her patients came to see her, over a thousand at a time, and after an hour and a half they walked out with smiles on their faces. This is something we should always remember about her: She made millions of people laugh. That is no small accomplishment.

And I really truly believe Joan paved the road for female comics. She did more than anybody for female comics. Comics like Rosanne Barr, Whoopi Goldberg, Ellen DeGeneres, Sarah Silverman, Amy Schumer, and so many others owe so much to Joan.

I remember one time she followed Richard Pryor on stage at the Laugh Factory. She had come to see a comedian perform, and the crowd wanted to see her, so we brought her up, and she went toe to toe with Richard Pryor, and she held her own. I would say she was one of the most important comedians of all time. In addition, she was a great mother. The last time I saw her, she was with her daughter and grandson Cooper at the Hollywood Laugh Factory. She told me that Cooper was going to be a great comic and to watch for him. Earlier, before the show, the TMZ bus stopped in front of the club, and she walked out and took her time to say hello to everybody on the bus. The people on the bus kept asking about her appearances on Howard Stern's show, and she took her time to answer everybody's question and spoke so highly of Howard.

She always tried to make everybody feel good. She was truly a doctor of the soul -- there are so few of them -- and as a comedian, she was one of a kind. And she is not just the most important female comic of all time but one of the most important and funniest comics of all time. Her name belongs right there with Lenny Bruce, Don Rickles, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, and Rodney Dangerfield. The history of comedy will remember her as one of the best of the best.

I can see it now: She is approaching God, asking, "Can we talk?" and making God laugh.

Happy 80th Birthday Sophia Loren! The Sexy Star's Greatest Moments On Film

She's grace and style personified. Born 80 years ago today, on Sept. 20, 1934, Sophia Loren still stuns on the red carpet with her perfect posture, dancer's walk and tight-fitting clothes.

To mark her milestone birthday, the bombshell beauty has recently penned her memoirs -- "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" will be published in December -- in which we learn how the voluptuous Italian icon went from abject poverty to international fame and fortune.

Although Loren started making movies in the early 1950s, her commercial breakthrough came in 1960 with the romantic comedy "It Started In Naples" alongside Clark Gable.

Loren, who now lives in Geneva, has won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a Grammy and a BAFTA Award. Her last Oscar nomination came in 1964 for "Marriage Italian-Style," four years after she took home Best Actress for "Two Women." Loren is also well-known for her quick wit; one of her most famous quotes was in response to compliments about her sumptuous figure: ""Everything you see, I owe to spaghetti."

The great love of her life was Italian producer Carlo Ponti, who discovered a teenage Sophia Loren. He died in 2007 at the age of 94.

In celebration of Loren's 80th birthday, we take a look back in the video above at some of Loren's most memorable moments on screen. Happy birthday to this enduring sex symbol -- one who's always done her own hair and nails. May she continue to dazzle the world with her brains and beauty.

Actor Orlando Jones Filmed His 'Bullet Bucket Challenge' To Fight 'Apathy' On Racial Issues

While the ALS ice bucket challenge took the social media scene by storm, actor Orlando Jones made headlines in August for posting his own “bullet bucket challenge” to speak out in the wake of Michael Brown’s death.

In an interview with HuffPost Live host Josh Zepps, Jones said he was compelled to film his own version of the challenge because the situation in Ferguson seemed all too familiar.

“Honestly, it sort of felt like I’d seen it before, you know, different places in the world we’ve seen it before,” he said. “And I think I thought I can no longer stand by and act like this is cool. So for me, it was just wanting apathy to go away, because it’s a disease we can fix. We can fix these problems, we just have to talk to each other.”

He looked to baseball icon Jackie Robinson, who made history in 1947 as the first black major league player, as an example of one way society can dismantle institutionalized racism today.

“I truly believe that when you look at what Jackie Robinson did, had he stood outside of that organization and yelled at it, it might still be the same,” he said. “But becoming a part of it and people getting to know each other as people often brings about great change because we get to know each other, and our humanity is now front and center.”

All hail T.Swift, queen of the crop top.

Taylor Swift turned heads on the red carpet at the 2014 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Friday. The "Shake It Off" singer stole the show before it even started in a little white crop top and form-fitting red skirt:

And Swift's time in the spotlight didn't end there. The 24-year-old wowed again in a bejeweled pink crop top and matching skirt to perform a five-song set that included, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," "22," "I Knew You Were Trouble," "Love Story" and--of course--"Shake It Off."

After the show, Swift took to Twitter to share her thoughts on the evening, including a video of her performance:

How The Internet Reacted To The NY Times Calling Shonda Rhimes An 'Angry Black Woman'

$

Shonda Rhimes, along with her cast and much of the Internet, wasn't too happy on Friday when the New York Times TV Critic called the TV legend an "angry black woman."

Allesandra Stanley's article from Thursday takes a stab at Rhimes' new series "How To Get Away With Murder," opening her piece with: "When Shonda Rhimes writes her autobiography, it should be called 'How to Get Away With Being an Angry Black Woman.'" Ouch. Stanley goes on to discuss Rhimes' supposed "set of heroines who flout ingrained television conventions and preconceived notions about the depiction of diversity" and other black women on TV.

Let's just say, Rhimes wasn't too pleased with it and shared some of her thoughts over Twitter:

Joshua Malina of "Scandal" also chimed in:

Meanwhile, Kerry Washington decided to share some of the many thinkpieces in response to Stanley's article:

Willa Paskin over at Slate quickly jumped to defend Rhimes' many achievements when it comes to television and black female characters. "Rhimes is no more the 'angry black woman' than her characters," Paskin writes, "who are angry the way that a bird is bipedal: It’s not false, but it’s not to the point." The critic went on break down Rhimes' female characters and praise how the creator has "re-framed the stereotype of the 'angry black woman'" by carving out a space for black females on TV.

At Vox, Alex Abad-Santos calls to light that Stanley constantly refers to Rhimes when discussing "HTGAWM" in her essay -- Rhimes isn't even the creator of the new series, she's one of the executive producers. Abad-Santos writes, "the piece refers to Rhimes 19 times and has only one mention of [Pete] Nowalk," creator of "HTGAWM." Rhimes also found this puzzling:

Over at Vulture, Margaret Lyons called the NY Times essay "inaccurate, tone-deaf, muddled, and racist." Lyons notes a selection of obviously angry Rhimes characters (Mellie, Cyrus, etc.) who Stanley fails to mention. "What's the difference between a rant and a monologue? Sometimes just the race of the person delivering it," Lyons writes. She ends her response piece by hypothetically assuming that even if Stanley's assessment were correct, there's still a flaw: "Is there anything in this article in particular that suggests any of these characters are based at all on Shonda Rhimes?," Lyons questions. "There is not."

From now on, when trying to take down a beloved and powerful producer, it may be best to not totally associate the creator --or executive producer-- with their shows' characters, or more specifically, with characters of one race.

Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin may not be an official couple, but these photos are sure to fuel the ongoing dating gossip about them.

Rumors of Lawrence and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin's romance first spread in mid-August, when unidentified sources confirmed to E! News that the two had been "seeing each other." On Friday, the 24-year-old actress was photographed backstage at the 2014 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, where Coldplay performed. E! News reports that their sources spotted Lawrence entering Martin's dressing room.

Lawrence kept it casual in a black crop top embellished with metallic studs and black skinny jeans:

So maybe J.Law showed up to show her rumored boyfriend some support. Or maybe she just headed backstage to tell Martin how epic this three-headed visual was:

Hilary Duff Says 'Why Not?' To 'Lizzie McGuire' Reunion, Because This Is What Dreams Are Made Of

Hilary Duff is "coming clean."

A decade after her hit Disney show came to an end, the actress, artist and celebrity mom has confirmed to HuffPost Entertainment that she'd be down for a "Lizzie McGuire" reunion.

Though our lives are now complete, let's still take a look at how we got here ...

tv show gifs

Duff broke onto the scene in "Lizzie McGuire" back in 2001, and immediately all of our lives changed for the better.

Lizzie was just like us.

She was clumsy, awkward and insecure, but she was also charming, relatable and just seemed to get us.

tv show gifs

Though the series ended in 2004, Duff went on to star in movies, release albums and become a successful entrepreneur. Then, she just walked away.

Duff told us, "I had toured for like 5 years, so once I was done with my last tour, I was just like, 'I’m done. I need a break. I need to go away. I need to like live.' And I did."

During her hiatus from the spotlight, Duff enjoyed doing a lot of normal people stuff. She got married, had a baby (Luca) and even traveled.

tv show gifs

Today, Hilary Duff is back. She's going to release a new album, she's set to star in "Younger," a new show coming to TV Land, and she's working with Trident in support of Oral Health America’s Smiles Across America (SAA) campaign, a program that helps underserved kids receive dental care.

During the week of September 15th, every pack of Trident gum purchased at retailers nationwide has led to a five-cent donation to the program.

Recently, Duff told us about the SAA campaign, her new album and that big "Lizzie" news:

hilary duff mike comrie

So why did you want to get involved with Trident?

I think hearing about the work that Trident does with Smiles Across America got me inspired because oral health care is really important for kids. I have a two-year-old, and I know how important it is to get them to brush their teeth and how challenging it can be.

Any tips for other parents?

I have two. It’s starting early ... and always try to make a game of it. Challenge him.

I'll be like, "I bet you can’t stand on one foot brushing your teeth." And he’s like, "Yes, I can! Yes, I can! Yes, I can!” You know they want to be able to do everything. They love a challenge. Sometimes we sing songs, and some days it’s easier than others.

Since this is Trident, have you, in your career, ever requested to be paid in Layers?

[To publicists] Can you guys arrange that for me?

[To HuffPost] When they called me, I was actually like, “But you don’t understand. This is the gum I buy.” I was so excited because when you get to be a part of something you’re actually a fan of … it’s ideal. But no, I have never requested to be paid in Layers.

lizzie mcguire

The program sounds awesome, but let’s get to what everyone has been wondering for years. Would you be interested in doing a "Lizzie McGuire" reunion?

Would you pay money for that?

In a heartbeat.

[Laughs.] I love it! I would be totally open to it. My schedule is a little busy right now. But um … why not?

I mean, so many people loved her. I loved her. Honestly, working on that show, I got so strong with my physical comedy and all the things that they would throw at me. I got covered in goo every week, and I got, like, smashed in the face with a locker every single week. And all this, I mean it was a really, really fun show. And obviously people really loved her. Maybe a "Lizzie: Where Are You Now?" like 10 years later.

ethan

Team Gordo or Team Ethan?

Lizzie always chooses the right way. Personally? Ethan!

No, no, I’m just kidding. I always choose the good guy.

Are you sure?

Yeah, the naughty side of me wants to be like, "The hot guy," but then I always choose the good guy.

Why wasn’t Miranda in "The Lizzie McGuire Movie"?

Oh my gosh, I love how this is just flashback "Lizzie McGuire" stuff. You know what, I don’t really know, but she was definitely missed.

I think we should just start over, and you should come in here, and I should just put a bunch of butterfly clips in my hair and wear like mismatching jeans and top.

Wow, that would actually be awesome.

lizzie hair

So for your new album, how would you say it's different from the others, and is there a track that defines it?

The album is very different. My last record was seven years ago. I haven't just frozen in time. Being a mother has given me a confidence I didn’t have before, so maybe that came across in the studio for sure. Being more, you know, ballsy with what I have to say. And not holding back.

There’s a song called "Belong" that I really love. It sounds cheesy when I talk about it, but it’s not cheesy at all, and it’s more about just like not waiting for anything. Just going for it and not holding back. Like I said, it sounds cheesy when I talk about it, but it’s not at all.

chasing

So, Hilary ... Why not take a crazy chance?

Why not do a crazy dance?

Oh my God. Thank you. This has been the greatest moment of my life.

Well, where's the dance?

You really want me to dance?

Yeah! You put me on the spot!

[HuffPost reporter proceeds to shake what his mama gave him by performing an original dance move called "The Earthquake."]

Oh my gosh! Wow! I’m going to teach Luca the "Earthquake." I think he would really like it.

Kim Kardashian's Alleged Nude Photos Leak Online As The Celebrity Hacking Ring Continues

$

Kim Kardashian, Vanessa Hudgens and U.S. soccer goalie Hope Solo appear to be the latest victims of the celebrity nude photo hacking ring.

Early Saturday morning alleged nude photos of the stars leaked on 4chan and started trending on Twitter. According to Uproxx, the photos were quickly removed as part of 4chan's new policy on copyright infringement.

This latest leak is likely the work of the same hackers who released nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Victoria Justice, and an underage McKayla Maroney that the FBI is already investigating.

Hudgens, sadly, is no stranger to having her privacy grossly invaded. If these are in fact photos of the 25-year-old actress, this will mark the third time nude photos of Hudgens have been released to the public without her consent.

Meanwhile, a rep for Kardashian declined to comment, but the 33-year-old reality star weighed in on the hackings earlier this month, telling E! News, "I think it's a wake-up call for people to make sure they have every privacy setting. It seems like there are a lot of people that love to spend their time hacking peoples' information and that's just a scary thing."

Request for comment made to Hudgens' rep has yet to be returned at this time.
