One Million Moms 'Moving On' From Ellen DeGeneres Attacks

0
0

The conservative group One Million Moms says it is "moving on" from its recent protest of Ellen DeGeneres and J.C. Penney.

One Million Moms (OMM), a media watchdog group founded by anti-gay, conservative Christian group American Family Association, spoke with The Christian Post about its ongoing protest of "strong gay activist" DeGeneres as a J.C. Penney spokesperson, telling the publication that the group is moving on from the most recent feud.

The group made headlines this week after blasting a new J.C. Penney Christmas ad featuring DeGeneres. "JCP has made their choice to offend a huge majority of their customers again," read a portion of the statement posted to the group's website.

"We're not taking action, we're moving on. We've already contacted the company," OMM Director Monica Cole told The Christian Post Thursday.

When OMM first criticized DeGeneres' holiday commercial, in which she makes some clumsy "big" jokes in front of three tiny elves, many did not understand the underlying issue. OMM now claims it has a problem with "the agenda behind it."

Via The Christian Post:

In addition, the One Million Moms director was clear to point out that the group's previous call for action was not "an attack on any one person or company," but was targeted at "the agenda behind it." With JC Penney viewed as a family store, many have found its embrace of a non-traditional family lifestyle offensive, Cole added. The company ran store flyers this past Father's Day that featured two gay men.

DeGeneres got support from fans and friends alike, including Executive Producer of "The Ellen Show" Andy Lassner.

OMM first began protesting DeGeneres in February when the openly gay comedian was chosen to represent J.C. Penney in its advertising. The group demanded DeGeneres be fired. At the time, the store's CEO, Ron Johnson, supported selecting DeGeneres. "Our company was founded 110 years ago on The Golden Rule," he said, "which is about treating people fair and square, just like you would like to be treated yourself. And we think Ellen represents the values of our company and the values that we share."

Nearly 50,000 advocates joined GLAAD's #StandUpForEllen campaign in support of her J.C. Penney role. In March, OMM abandoned their call for DeGeneres to be fired, saying “other issues require [the] group's attention, so OMM is moving on," according to GLAAD.

Ed Sheeran Kidnapped By The Wanted After Grammy Nomination

It was a fun-filled week for Ed Sheeran, who not only performed at the Jingle Ball tour in both Philadelphia and New York City, but was named a nominee in the Song of the Year category for the 2013 Grammy Awards.

His song "The A Team" was a smash hit in the U.K. and abroad, but he wasn't sure the tune would earn him a nomination.

"I was already drunk before I found out because I didn’t expect it this year," Sheeran told The Huffington Post at Z100's Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden last night (Dec. 7). "I didn’t expect to be nominated because I haven’t really done much in America, as far as kind of commercial success. I’m still kind of building up."

But thankfully, Sheeran found out about the honor while he was hanging with his British buds, who made sure he celebrated the right way.

"I was kidnapped by The Wanted boys," he explained. "They took me on their tour bus. We’re all from England, we’ve all known each other for quite a few years, so we had some drinks and then my phone started blowing up and I spent ten minutes giggling."

Sheeran hopes to become a bigger success in the U.S., and admits he's already got a kick start from his pal, Taylor Swift, with whom he recorded "Everything Has Changed" for Swift's album "Red."

"It was amazing [working with Taylor]," Sheeran told HuffPost. "Taylor is such a talented, humble, nice person and she took a chance with me. I hadn’t really done anything apart from the Snow Patrol tour in America and she basically opened up all these doors."

So, how did their duet come to life?

"We wrote 'Everything Has Changed' on a trampoline," Sheeran laughed. "She was just kind of like ‘Dude, let’s write a song,’ and I was like ‘OK! Like what about?’ And she’s like ‘I’m thinking this…’ and we just pieced it together."

The Grammy Awards air Feb 10 at 8 p.m. on CBS.

Kristen Stewart Confirms A Rumor

Kristen Stewart has told HuffPost Entertainment that she will indeed star opposite Ben Affleck in a comedy titled "Focus."

"I can confirm that rumor," she said, referring to Internet reports that began surfacing last month. "It's a comedy. I'm really excited about it. We start shooting in April."

On November 2, Deadline Hollywood reported that Stewart had entered talks to appear in the Warner Bros. production as "an inexperienced con artist who hooks up with the more seasoned Affleck." According to the report, the film will be written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who previously teamed up on "Crazy, Stupid, Love."

Subsequent reports claimed that the role would call on Stewart, 22, to shoot some "passionate" love scenes with Affleck, 40. Affleck was also quoted saying that he hoped Stewart would take the role because she's "terrific."

Stewart told HuffPost that she does not have any other projects lined up, but "would love to find some micro-project before then, because April is kind of a ways away."

Stewart recently finished a world tour promoting "Breaking Dawn 2," the fifth and final installment in the "Twilight" series, which turned her into a global superstar. She is now making the awards-circuit rounds in support of her next film, "On the Road," an indie adaptation of the famous Jack Kerouac novel, due out on December 21.

"On the Road" could give Stewart a shot at an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress, but Affleck is deep in the Oscar hunt with "Argo," which is expected to snag nominations for best picture, best director, and best supporting actor, among others.

At a luncheon hosted by publicist Peggy Siegal at the Four Seasons Restaurant in New York yesterday, Affleck emphasized the film's relevance to today's geopolitical landscape, joking, "I felt a sense of responsibility that I didn't feel making 'Mall Rats.'"

Check back on Monday for HuffPost Entertainment's complete interview with Stewart about the making of "On the Road."

A Lesson In '70s Cool

Though she began her career as a model, Susan Dey launched into true superstardom with 1970s family sitcom "The Partridge Family." Off screen, the actress favored '70s color-blocked sweaters and ruffle-y blouses, but then transitioned accordingly to shoulder pads and cowboy boots in the '80s. The Illinois native has also tried her hand at many hairstyles over the years: straight and middle-parted, feathered shags, even blonde and crimpy. As Dey turns 60 on Monday (December 10th), we're taking a moment to enjoy her best style moments.

What was supposed to be a happy occasion turned scary when Honey Boo Boo's dad Sugar Bear had a health scare during the family's Christmas toy drive last night (Dec. 8).

Paramedics were called to Alana Thompson's home in McIntyre, Ga., after Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson, 40, fell ill, E! News reports. Sugar Bear, who usually dresses up as Santa Claus and greets all the neighborhood kids for the toy drive, allegedly had high blood pressure.

"Usually you're allowed to sit on Sugar Bear's lap," a source at the scene told E! News. "But he was not feeling well ... they were worried his blood pressure was getting high."

"An ambulance was called to the house, but he was not taken off in it," the insider added, "[he] just got checked out by paramedics."

Just three months ago, the "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" star was in the hospital after an ATV accident left him with an infection in his leg. There was even talk of him having the limb amputated.

We're glad he's OK!

Ice-T Slams Wife Coco For Flirty Photos With Rapper

Ice-T might love Coco, but right now he's pretty mad after photos of his wife getting flirty with another man surfaced online.

Ice is reportedly upset over photos Coco took with Oakland rapper AP.9 while in Las Vegas for her Peepshow stint, according to TMZ. The photos surfaced Dec. 7, showing Coco and AP.9 hugging, dancing and cheek-kissing. One photo shows AP.9 nuzzling into her neck.

"Don't get it twisted, I'm not happy about this s**t," Ice-T tweeted, according to TMZ. "Most of [the pics are] disrespectful and in bad taste. She's made me look and feel like s**t. I say this on Twitter because there's no way to avoid the obvious misconduct of a married couple." His posts have since been removed.

GossipCop reported Coco initially brushed off the photo controversy. “Woke up to people in a panic about some pics, please guys I’m happily married, sometimes fans & friends take silly pics. Its harmless. #RELAX," read the tweet, which has also been deleted.

Coco denied rumors she cheated on Ice with AP.9.“It’s not true," a rep for the Vegas performer told RumorFix. "He’s a guy that’s been around our production crew. He’s cool with everybody!”

On Saturday, Coco apologized.

Coco also retweeted a series of supportive messages from fans.

Coco and Ice, whose relationship is documented on the E! reality series "Ice Loves Coco," wed in 2001 and renewed their vows last year. In an interview last May, the two discussed married life with PR.com.

"Honestly, I thought she was too pretty to be, as you would say, domesticated," Ice told PR.com when asked if it was lust at first sight. "Like, can we fit at home or is this a girl who just wants to party? But she was like, 'No, I’m ready. Let’s just go snuggle someplace and do home stuff.'"

He continued, "She means what she says, she didn’t lie, she’s honest and she wasn’t materialistic. She was just like, 'If you treat me right, I’ll treat you right.' That’s pretty much the basis to any good deal, just treat each other right. She’s lived up to the deal for the past ten years."

Bruno Mars Covers 'Part Of Your World' From 'The Little Mermaid' (VIDEO)

Original Song: "Part Of Your World" from the classic Disney movie "The Little Mermaid."

Cover Artist: Singer Bruno Mars (who previously showed off his comedic chops hosting SNL in October).

How It's Different: Bruno, instead of our favorite cartoon mermaid, performed the song during his recent set at BBC’s Live Lounge. (Also: Bruno's apparently got 30 "thingamabobs" - not 20!)

Why We Love It: Well, it is the best song ever written, according to Bruno.

Better than the Original? Considering he admitted he had never been able to get through the cover without "choking up," we think Bruno did a pretty good job keeping it together while still channeling his inner-Ariel. Plus, he transitioned into "Under The Sea" like a pro. We'll call it a tie.

Are you into Bruno's version of "Part Of Your World?" What's your favorite classic Disney song? Sound off in the comments below or tweet @huffpostteen.

Psy Still Set To Perform For Obamas

WASHINGTON — A holiday concert attended Sunday by President Barack Obama and his family included some non-traditional entertainment this year: a performance by South Korean rapper and Internet sensation PSY.

PSY_ wearing an all-red outfit including a sparkling, sequined top_ was backed by dancers wearing reindeer antlers as he performed his popular "Gangnam Style" dance, which mimics riding a horse.

The rapper, born Park Jae-sang, had apologized Friday for using what he called "inflammatory and inappropriate language" during anti-U.S. protests at concerts in 2002 and 2004. The flak from his remarks didn't dampen the festive holiday mood Sunday.

Other performers at the charity concert included Diana Ross, Demi Lovato, "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery and Megan Hilty, star of the NBC musical drama "Smash."

In brief remarks, Obama said the celebration was "a chance to get in the Christmas spirit, spread some joy and sing along with artists who have much better voices than we do."

He also said the holiday season was a time to remember that everyone is "incredibly blessed in so many ways," and to share with the less fortunate, such as those in hospitals, shelters and battlefields far from home.

"Those blessings aren't just meant to be enjoyed, they're meant to be used and shared with those who have less," he said.

The "Christmas in Washington" concert benefits Children's National Medical Center. Before the show, Obama was accompanied by his wife, Michelle, and daughters, Sasha and Malia, as he presented a basket of books to four former patients of the center, who were dressed as elves.

The 31st annual concert was held Sunday at the National Building Museum and was hosted for a second year by comedian Conan O'Brien.

It is scheduled to air Dec. 21 on TNT.

By The Associated Press

MEXICO (AP) -- Authorities in northern Mexico are confirming that a small plane carrying Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera has gone missing after taking off from the city of Monterrey.

Jorge Domene, spokesman for the Nuevo Leon state government, told Milenio television on Sunday that the plane left Monterrey about 3:30 a.m after a concert there. It was bound for Toluca, which is located outside Mexico City.

Domene says a search for the plane was launched early Sunday, with helicopters from the local civilian protection agency flying over the state. He says seven people are believed to be aboard the U.S.-registered Learjet 25.

The 43-year-old who was born and raised in Long Beach, California, is known for her interpretations of Mexican regional music known as nortena and banda.

For kids of the '90s, the initials TGIF evoke memories of ABC's rotating Friday night lineup, which featured squeaky-clean fare such as "Full House," "Family Matters," "Step By Step" and "Boy Meets World." The latter, of course, has spawned a Disney Channel spinoff currently in the works, which will focus on the teenage daughter of "BMW" sweethearts Cory and Topanga.

In honor of "Girl Meets World," which signals the next generation of the sitcom characters with whom we spent our formative years, we're taking a look at what the erstwhile stars of TGIF look like as adults.

Rihanna, Chris Brown Fighting Over Karrueche Tran?

0

Rihanna and Chris Brown's relationship may have been on the mend, but a weekend party might have pushed the exes apart once again.

Rihanna is reportedly angry with Brown after he partied with Karrueche Tran, his model ex, after his Paris gig on Friday night, according to The Sun. “She can’t get it into her head that Chris will never change," a source told the tabloid. “She’s given him so many chances since he beat her up in 2009 and he still keeps hurting her by partying with girls. Letting Karrueche meet him is yet another blow for Rihanna that will further disgust her fans. They are already raging that she is back with him.”

Hollywood Life reported that Tran jetted off to Paris with her brand-partner stylist for The Kill, Ugo Mozie, on Dec. 7. Mozie also styles Brown.

Tran reportedly plans to then follow the "Don't Wake Me Up" singer to the Dubai leg of his "Carpe Diem" tour, The Sun reported. Rihanna is fed up. “She was meant to stay with Chris in Paris -- but it looks like she gave it a miss and will head straight to Manchester tonight to perform on the 'X Factor' final’s results show," the source added.

Rihanna allegedly sent out a series of angry tweets, according to Hollywood Life, posting "Examine what you tolerate," "Goodbye muthaf**ker," and "You give, you get, then you give it the f**k back." These tweets appear to have been deleted.

All may have been forgiven, though, as Rihanna later tweeted about missing her man.

Previously, The Sun reported that Rihanna got the word "Breezy" tattooed on her neck. "Breezy" is Brown's nickname. "She got it to symbolize her commitment to him. Now the world knows they’re back together, they’re determined to make it work," a source said.

Surprise Winner At Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) handed out its 2012 awards on Sunday and "Amour" was a surprise choice for Best Picture. "The Master," Paul Thomas Anderson's weird and mediative drama about the origins of a religion not unlike Scientology, was named runner-up.

Directed by Michael Haneke, "Amour" is about a couple in their 80s and the struggles they encounter as old age and disease come between their relationship. The film stars Emmanuelle Riva, who tied with Jennifer Lawrence ("Silver Linings Playbook") for the Best Actress award from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association. "Amour" was won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in May and is a heavy favorite to win the Best Foreign Language Film trophy at the 85th annual Academy Awards.

While "The Master" didn't win Best Picture, the film cleaned up at the LAFCA awards. Anderson was chosen as Best Director (Kathryn Bigelow was runner-up for "Zero Dark Thirty"), Joaquin Phoenix won Best Actor (ahead of Denis Lavant for "Holy Motors") and Amy Adams won Best Supporting Actress (beating Anne Hathaway for "Les Miserables" and "The Dark Knight Rises"). "The Master" also won for Best Production Design and was runner-up in the Cinematography and Score categories.

Other winners included Chris Terrio (Best Screenplay for "Argo"), Dylan Tichenor and William Goldenberg (Best Editing for "Zero Dark Thirty") and Dwight Henry (Best Supporting Actor for "Beasts of the Southern Wild").

Jenni Rivera Dies In Plane Crash Leaving No Survivors

Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera is believed to have died Sunday in a plane crash in Mexico that left no survivors, HuffPost Voces reports.

Minutes after taking off from the northern city of Monterrey on its way to Toluca, the plane disappeared.

Two members of Rivera's family told HuffPost Voces the plane had crashed, leaving no survivors. Mexico's Director of Civil Aviation Alejandro Argudín confirmed that Rivera is believed to be dead, according to El Universal.

"The aircraft was left completely destroyed," Argudín said, according to El Universal. "The information we have is that there wasn't a single survivor."

HuffPost Voces contacted Jenni Rivera’s brother Juan, who said the plane had been missing since only a few minutes after taking off at 3:15 a.m. Sunday.

The plane "was scheduled to arrive in Toluca at four thirty in the morning, where there was no record of flight", reports El Universal. "They began the corresponding search protocol at 4:40 with the help of two helicopters and an airplane," said the statement from the SCT.

Minutes before taking off, Rivera's publicist Arturo Rivera took a photo of the singer inside the plane and uploaded it to his Twitter account. The photo was later erased, though Univision's Raul de Molina of "El Gordo y La Flaca" also posted it to Twitter.

At least five people were traveling in the plane: the pilots, Miguel Pérez and Alejandro Torres, and three more passengers: the singer, her publicist and her makeup artist. Before her flight, Rivera had played a concert in Monterrey and went to her hotel before boarding the plane, a Learjet 25 with U.S. registration.

This is a developing story.

Wreckage Of Small Plane Believed To Be Carrying Singer Found In Mexico

MONTERREY, Mexico — The wreckage of a small plane believed to be carrying Jenni Rivera, the U.S-born singer whose soulful voice and unfettered discussion of a series of personal travails made her a Mexican-American superstar, was found in northern Mexico on Sunday. Authorities said there were no survivors.

The singer's father, Pedro Rivera, said he thinks his daughter died in the crash and that her brother will travel to Mexico on Monday to identify what they presumed were her remains.

Authorities in Mexico say the remains found are unrecognizable and have not yet publicly confirmed that she is dead. They say there will be an investigation.

Born in Long Beach, California, Jenni Rivera was at the peak of her career as perhaps the most successful female singer in grupero, a male-dominated regional style influenced by the norteno, cumbia and ranchero styles.

A 43-year-old mother of five children and grandmother of two, the woman known as the "Diva de la Banda" was known for her frank talk about her struggles to give a good life to her children despite a series of setbacks.

She was recently divorced from her third husband, was once detained at a Mexico City airport with tens of thousands of dollars in cash, and she publicly apologized after her brother assaulted a drunken fan who verbally attacked her in 2011.

Her openness about her personal troubles endeared her to millions in the U.S. and Mexico.

"I am the same as the public, as my fans," she told The Associated Press in an interview last March.

Rivera sold 15 million records, and recently won two Billboard Mexican Music Awards: Female Artist of the Year and Banda Album of the Year for "Joyas prestadas: Banda." She was nominated for Latin Grammys in 2002, 2008 and 2011.

Transportation and Communications Minister Gerardo Ruiz Esparza said "everything points toward" the wreckage belonging to the plane carrying Rivera and six other people to Toluca, outside Mexico City, from Monterrey, where the singer had just given a concert.

"There is nothing recognizable, neither material nor human" in the wreckage found in the state of Nuevo Leon, Ruiz Esparza said. The impact was so powerful that the remains of the plane "are scattered over an area of 250 to 300 meters. It is almost unrecognizable."

Rivera's father told dozens of reporters gathered in front of his Los Angeles-area home that "I believe my daughter's body is unrecognizable."

"My son Lupillo told me that effectively it was Jenni's plane that crashed and that everyone on board died," Pedro Rivera said.

Rivera said his son would travel to Monterrey early Monday morning.

No cause was given for the plane's crash, but its wreckage was found near the town of Iturbide in Mexico's Sierra Madre Oriental, where the terrain is very rough.

The Learjet 25, number N345MC, took off from Monterrey at 3:30 a.m. local time and was reported missing about 10 minutes later. It was registered to Starwood Management of Las Vegas, Nevada, according to FAA records. It was built in 1969 and had a current registration through 2015.

Media and celebrities in Mexico sent condolences to Rivera's family even though authorities still had not confirmed that she was aboard the plane.

"My friend! Why? There is no consolation. God, please help me!" said Mexican pop singer Paulina Rubio on her official Twitter account. Singer Miguel Bose, who appears on the Mexican show "The Mexican Voice" along with Rivera, wrote on his Twitter account: "My dear Jenni, you will always be in my heart. Forever. I love you."

Also believed aboard the plane were her publicist, Arturo Rivera, her lawyer, makeup artist and the flight crew.

Though drug trafficking was the theme of some of her songs, she was not considered a singer of "narco corridos," or ballads glorifying drug lords like other groups, such as Los Tigres del Norte. She was better known for singing about her troubles in love and disdain for men.

Her parents were Mexicans who had migrated to the United States. Two of her five brothers, Lupillo and Juan Rivera, are also well-known singers of grupero music.

She studied business administration and formally debuted on the music scene in 1995 with the release of her album "Chacalosa". Due to its success, she recorded two more independent albums, "We Are Rivera" and "Farewell to Selena," a tribute album to slain singer Selena that helped expand her following.

At the end of the 1990s, Rivera was signed by Sony Music and released two more albums. But widespread success came for her when she joined Fonovisa and released her 2005 album titled "Partier, Rebellious and Daring."

Besides being a singer, she is also a businesswoman and actress, appearing in the indie film Filly Brown, which was shown at the Sundance Film Festival, as the incarcerated mother of Filly Brown.

She was filming the third season of "I love Jenni," which followed her as she shared special moments with her children and as she toured through Mexico and the United States. She also has the reality shows: "Jenni Rivera Presents: Chiquis and Raq-C" and her daughter's "Chiquis `n Control."

In 2009, she was detained at the Mexico City airport when she declared $20,000 in cash but was really carrying $52,167. She was taken into custody. She said it was an innocent mistake and authorities gave her the benefit of the doubt and released her.

In 2011, her brother Juan assaulted a drunken fan at a popular fair in Guanajuato. In the face of heavy criticism among her fans and on social networks, Rivera publicly apologized for the incident during a concert in Mexico City, telling her fans: "Thank you for accepting me as I am, with my virtues and defects."

On Saturday night, Rivera had given a concert before thousands of fans in Monterrey. After the concert she gave a press conference during which she spoke of her emotional state following her recent divorce from former Major League Baseball pitcher Esteban Loaiza, who played for teams including the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers.

"I can't get caught up in the negative because that destroys you. Perhaps trying to move away from my problems and focus on the positive is the best I can do. I am a woman like any other and ugly things happen to me like any other woman," she said Saturday night. "The number of times I have fallen down is the number of times I have gotten up."

Rivera had announced in October that she was divorcing Loaiza after two years of marriage.

There have been several high-profile crashes involving Learjets, known as swift, longer-distance passenger aircraft popular with corporate executives, entertainers and government officials.

A Learjet carrying pro-golfer Payne Stewart and five others crashed in northeastern South Dakota in 1999. Investigators said the plane lost cabin pressure and all on board died after losing consciousness for lack of oxygen. The aircraft flew for several hours on autopilot before running out of fuel and crashing in a corn field.

Former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker was severely injured in a 2008 Learjet crash in South Carolina that killed four people.

That same year, a Learjet slammed into rush-hour traffic in a posh Mexico City neighborhood, killing Mexico's No. 2 government official, Interior Secretary Juan Camilo Mourino, and eight others on the plane, plus five people on the ground.

Jenni Rivera Had ABC Show In Development

0

Latina actress Jenni Rivera tragically died in a plane crash on Sunday.

Just days before her death, ABC announced the development of "Jenni," a show starring Rivera and centering on the Mexican-American singer and actress as a struggling single mom. Robert L. Boyett (the man behind "Family Matters," "Full House" and more '90s family comedies) and Robert Horn of "Designing Women" fame were attached to write and executive produce the project. Neither Boyett nor Horn had tweeted about Rivera's death at the time of publish.

Rivera's character was described as "a strong, middle-class, single Latina woman working to raise a family using unique parenting skills, while struggling to run a family business and navigate her extended, co-dependent relatives -- all while fighting the cultural perception that she needs a man to do it," according to Deadline.

In addition to selling multi-millions of records, Rivera starred on mun2's reality series "I Love Jenni," which was filming its third season. Diana Mogollon, General Manager of mun2, and Emilio Romano, the president of Telemundo Media, released the following statement.

"mun2 and Telemundo Media have learned that Jenni Rivera, Latin entertainment icon and star of mun2 reality series 'I Love Jenni,' was on the private plane that went down in Galena, Nueva Leon, Mexico early this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Rivera family and the families of her team, as we await for details and official confirmation from the authorities on this tragic accident."

In honor of Rivera, Telemundo will broadcast a two-hour special at 7 p.m. EST and mun2 will re-air it at 9 p.m. EST. mun2 will also be airing two "I Love Jenni" previously produced specials at 11 p.m. EST and midnight EST.

LISTEN: 'SpaceJam' Meets 'Gangnam Style'

0
0

A '90s classic has met its modern match, and it is a pretty infectious mix -- ideal for a little horse-riding choreo or basketball warmups with the Monstars.

SoundCloud user Jholdin created a mashup of Psy's "Gangnam Style" and Quad City DJs' "Space Jam" from the 1996 film of the same name. "Oppa Spacejam Style" is obviously musical fate seeing that both songs have the same BPM and are in the same key, and even Jholdin admitted the similarities begged for a fusion of the tracks.

"I had NO CHOICE but to put on the finishing touches," he said in a brief note to his followers.

"Gangnam Style" has been one of the most successful singles of the year, topping the Nielsen digital download chart for most of the weeks since its debut with 2.9 million downloads since its release. The song also recently dethroned Justin Bieber's "Baby" to claim the title as the most viewed YouTube video of all time.

And though it isn't the most likely pairing, it's good to know that 16 years after the film's release, "Space Jam" is still getting the respect it deserves.

So pull that suit coat over your TuneSquad jersey and kick off the ultimate space party with the track above.

Who Is Benedict Cumberbatch Playing In 'Star Trek Into Darkness'?

0
0

Benedict Cumberbatch's "Star Trek Into Darkness" character has remained a mystery to fans, but a new official still from the J.J. Abrams film has finally revealed his name. Or, perhaps, "name."

Reads the official Paramount-approved caption accompanying the photo posted below:

(Left to right) Zachary Quinto is Spock, Benedict Cumberbatch is John Harrison and Chris Pine is Kirk in STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions.

Which raises the question: Who is John Harrison?

Cumberbatch plays the villain in "Star Trek Into Darkness," but fans have debated about just which villain. Speculation has run rampant that Cumberbatch is playing iconic "Star Trek" villain Khan, an idea that was furthered by a brief shot in the Japanese teaser trailer for the film. Of course, Cumberbatch could also star as Gary Mitchell, a famed "Star Trek" villain from the television series.

So! "John Harrison" could be a red herring. Or it could be the actual name of Cumberbatch's bad guy. Or maybe Cumberbatch is playing twins? Or triplets? The possibilities are endless! Find out just who he's playing when "Star Trek Into Darkness" arrives in theaters on May 17, 2013.
