"American Idol" Season 8 winner Kris Allen landed in the emergency room on Tuesday after a New Year's car accident.
Allen and his pregnant wife, Katy, were involved in a car accident on Tuesday, MTV News reported. The head-on collision left Allen with broken arm and his wife with unspecified injuries.
His mother, Kimberly Allen, tweeted about her son's condition.
From Kris: he's in a lot of pain, arm broke, may not play guitar for a while. Prayers welcome please! #headoncollisiontwitter.com/allen_kimberly…

The "American Idol" alum took to Twitter to let fans know that he, his wife and their dog, Zorro, are doing okay. The singer, who won a Ford car after winning "Idol" in 2009, according to USA Today, also thanked the car manufacturer.
Thank you @ford for equipping me with a car that kept my whole family @katyallen @zorropup and the little one we have on the way safe.

Allen also assured fans that the beat will go on, tweeting, "Don't worry everyone I may have broken my wrist but the #OutAliveTour is still on."
Allen is set to undergo surgery Wednesday. He is scheduled to perform in Boston on Jan. 9.
The car accident was not the only bad luck the singer has faced recently. In September, Allen split from his record label, RCA Records, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "There are so many people there that contributed to my becoming the artist that I am and I will miss them all," he said at the time. "In saying that, I am really excited about what is ahead. The path has never been clearer to me. I love what I do and I will never stop."
