Warren Buffett, Ryan O'Neal And Other Celebrities Affected By Prostate Cancer

Warren Buffet has been diagnosed with stage 1 prostate cancer, according to a statement from Buffet and his company, Berkshire Hathaway, to shareholders.

In the letter, Buffet says he feels great, and that doctors don't believe his condition is life-threatening. He plans to begin a two-month course of radiation treatment mid-July.

At 81, a prostate cancer diagnosis is not entirely surprising. According to the Cleveland Clinic, 80 percent of men who reach their 80s will have some cancerous cells in the prostate.

The severity of prostate cancer is measured in stages. Stage 1 is the least advanced, and only found within the prostate, according to The National Cancer Institute. It is detected by biopsy, testing for a man's Gleason score and PSA (prostate-specific antigen) level. The higher the PSA level in the blood, the more likely there is cancer. "I discovered the cancer because my PSA level ... recently jumped beyond its normal elevation and a biopsy seemed warranted," Buffet said in the statement.

Buffet's diagnosis comes on the heels of actor Ryan O'Neal's announcement late last week that he has recently been diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer.

The actor, 70, who previously battled leukemia, said in a statement: "Although I was shocked and stunned by the news, I feel fortunate that it was detected early and according to my extraordinary team of doctors the prognosis is positive for a full recovery," People reported.

O'Neal and Buffett are among the growing ranks of men who have opted to speak out about their diagnoses, in the hopes of raising awareness for a disease that kills more than 28,000 men a year, according to the American Cancer Society. Here's a look at a few of those famous faces.

Which Took Their Final Turn On 'Dancing With The Stars'?

For the first time in "Dancing With the Stars" (Mondays at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC) history, the bottom two couples had to dance for their lives in front of the judges.

"It's not about your favorite couple; It's not about who you feel sorry for; The dance duel is all about the dancing," said judge Len Goodman. This week, the bottom two stars were Jaleel White and Gavin DeGraw.

However, Jaleel might have been a little confused about what the dance duel actually meant because before the couples started dancing, he broke out into song. "I told my mom that if I got here that I would say, 'And I'm telling you' ... you know the rest of the lyrics."

It was an intense first duel, as the two couples had to perform the ha cha at the same time. Unfortunately for one star, it was finally time to leave the ballroom for good. It was an unanimous decision, as all three judges voted to save Jaleel and his partner Kym Johnson, making Gavin the first victim of the dance duel.

Despite having some of the lowest scores of the week, both Melissa Gilbert and Gladys Knight were saved by the viewers' votes, which means that the Empress of Soul will officially get to show off her moves during next week's Motown week.

Fan favorites Maria Menounos and Derek Hough were safe after their routine was chosen by the judges as the best of the week. Maria and Derek performed their dance for a second time during Tuesday's episode, but left off one essential part -- the highly publicized kiss. The two may not have kissed each other, but Derek landed quite a smooch on judge Carrie Ann Inaba. This time, however, she didn't seem to mind.

Fellow judges' favorites Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas were also safe, as was the Latin dancing James Bond -- William Levy. He did perform quite the sultry Argentine tango, but he'll have some serious competition next week from Donald Driver because the football player and his partner Peta Murgatroyd were also safe. Despite being in the bottom last week due to a lack of votes, Disney star Roshon Fegan was also safe.

"Dancing With the Stars" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

Unfortunately, it's the sort of thing you learn the hard way: even black bottoms can be sheer.

Mena Suvari stepped out on Monday night, all dolled up for a screening of "American Reunion" in London. But when the star bent over to autograph some photos for her fans, her gauzy black dress might have revealed a bit more than she intended (we think -- then again, wardrobe "malfunctions" seem more and more purposeful these days).

It was rather unfortunate, considering we're totally digging the LBD otherwise. The drape in the back and the inset pattern on the front are both super chic, as is Mena's tasteful updo.

(On another note: who knew Mena had such a giant tattoo on the back of her neck?)

New Christian 'Real Housewives' In The Works

Producers behind the "Real Housewives" franchise are looking in Calabasas, Calif., for a handful of Christian women to star in a new reality show. These pious women will not be part of the official Bravo "Housewives" series, however.

"It makes sense that a lot of different copies of the 'Housewife' franchise will be pitched," a Bravo executive tells me. "It’s one of the most successful franchises in TV that we are not looking to expand at the moment. But getting a cast and doing a reel that is shopped around to different networks doesn’t mean the show will ever get picked up."

Producers of the new show, which is said to have been inspired by the ABC show "GCB," hope that adding the religious angle will make it similar enough to "Housewives" to be successful but different enough that another network will want to buy it.

The proposed show isn't the only one in development to offer a twist on the "Housewives" formula. "'Taking New York' on Oxygen is a younger version of the 'Housewives' format," a TV insider who has seen the reel tells me. “It was shot two years ago and only now is going into production on May 12.”

Bravo's "Real Housewives" franchise currently has casts in California's Orange County, Beverly Hills, New York, Atlanta, Miami and New Jersey.

Tragic BART Shooting Heads To Silver Screen

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Octavia Spencer, the Oscar-winning actress from last year's Blockbuster film, "The Help", is allegedly in negotiation to star in "Fruitvale", an upcoming film about the shooting of Oscar Grant.

While Spencer is considering the role of Grant's mother Wanda Johnson, Michael B. Jordan of "Friday Night Lights" is reportedly in negotiations to play Grant. The film will be produced by Forest Whitaker and his production partner Nina Ying, and production is reported to begin as soon as July.

(SCROLL DOWN FOR PHOTOS AND VIDEO)

According to SFGate, Fruitvale will chronicle Grant's final hours before he was shot and killed on New Year's Eve 2009.

In the early hours of January 1, 2009, Oscar Grant was killed when he was shot by BART officer Johannes Mehserle who had restrained Grant after an incident at the Fruitvale BART Station. The shooting sparked national outrage after video footage taken on cell phone cameras showed Grant on the ground with his hands behind his back before Mehserle fired.

In 2010, Mehserle was sentenced to two years in prison for involuntary manslaughter after he testified that he had meant to use his taser instead of his gun. The verdict sparked destructive riots in Oakland, where many argued for a harsher sentence.

The movie's announcement comes just weeks after the shooting of Trayvon Martin in Florida -- an incident that many have compared to the death of Oscar Grant.

'The Voice': Justin Bieber Shows Up; Two More Head Home

The April 17 installment of NBC's "The Voice" (Mondays at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET) was filled with cheers and tears. After the previous' night's surprise eliminations -- leaving Team Christina down Jesse Campbell and Team Blake without Jordis Unga -- it was time to send one more contestant home from each team.

Plus, it was also time for Justin Bieber to make a live appearance to present the world premiere of a portion of his new video for "Boyfriend." Bieber, who could barely be heard over the screams in the studio, also announced that his new album will be released on June 19.

As the tween shrieking dissipated, it was time to move on to the emotional eliminations.

America's votes saved one member Team Christina and another from Team Blake. Apparently, it was boys' night because opera singer Chris Mann and Alicia Keys' former back-up singer Jermaine Paul respectively won the most votes.

For Team Christina, that left young pop rocker Ashley De La Rosa and alternative artist Lindsey Pavao to prove themselves to their coach. Country singer RaeLynn and belter Erin Willett were the ones who had one last chance performance on Team Blake.

Ashley sang Lady Gaga's "You and I" and Adam said it wasn't her best. "Regardless of this performance, I'd keep you around because you're amazing," he assured her. Blake agreed and added that between Lindsey and Ashley, he'd buy Ashley's record.

Lindsey Pavao put her own spin on Mike Posner's "Please Don't Go." By the end of it, she broke down and even Christina started shedding some tears. Cee Lo said he sees "charm" in her and Blake said "there's something so mysterious about her that it draws you into her." Still, he maintained, he'd go with Ashley.

But Christina didn't agree. After a tearful Christina declared her love for both young women, she decided to save Lindsey, sending Ashley home.

Then, Team Blake's bottom two took the stage. Erin Willett opted for Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" and a still visibly shaken Christina said she put in an amazing effort. Then, RaeLynn performed The Band Perry's "If I Die Young." Adam commended the young star because he said, "The song doesn't play her; she plays the song." However, he still didn't think it was her best.

Like Christina, Blake said he loved both of his team members. Eventually -- after much rambling and host Carson Daly pressuring him for a name -- Blake decided to save the more seasoned Erin Willett, sending his youngest team member RaeLynn back to Texas.

Next week, Team Adam and Team Cee Lo will be the ones under pressure. Who do you think will move on to the semi-finals? And did Blake and Christina make the right decisions? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

"The Voice" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.

Two more faces are headed to "White Collar" for the show's fourth season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "House" alum Michael Weston is headed to the police procedural for an upcoming episode. In "Diminishing Returns," Weston will play David Cook, a criminal mastermind who Peter (Tim Dekay) has been attempting to put in prison since joining the FBI.

After being spotted in an onset lip-lock with Matt Bomer -- who plays the show's star, Neil Caffery -- "Smallville" vet Laura Vandervoot has officially been cast in the drama, according to TVLine. However, the only detail on Vandervoot's role thus far is that she will play a New York City socialite set to receive a life insurance policy when her wealthy husband dies.

Season 4 of "White Collar" premieres on Tuesday, July 10 on USA.

But perhaps because Dwyane was in a particularly good mood, maybe swept up the beauty of a nice spring day in Manhattan, he and his crew, including a cameraman, made one final stop--the Thompson Street Playground.

"This is not a commercial," Dwyane announced to the camera, walking onto the basketball court. "This is real life."

This article comes to us by Ian S. Port courtesy of SF Weekly's All Shook Down.

Yes, rock stars are real people who exist in the same world as the rest of us. Today's evidence: Via email tip, we hear that Australian pop singer Gotye -- who's giving a much-anticipated headlining show tonight at Bill Graham Civic Center -- was lurking around S.F. this past Monday night, kicking ass in the rock 'n' roll-focused trivia game at Minx in the Tendernob.

(SCROLL DOWN FOR PHOTOS)

Apparently, the singer -- read our interview with him here! -- came in with a group of Australians and proceeded to get every question right. From our tipster:

I go to a small pub quiz that my friend Chaki hosts every Monday at Minx Bar in the Tender Nob. It's a music specific quiz aka ROCK N ROLL TRIVIA. There weren't many teams this week but this one group of Austrailians came in and one guy on the team completely DEMOLISHED everybody in the bar, answering every question correctly. Here's what Chaki posted on his Facebook:

"So last night @ trivia this nerdy dude comes in and proceeds to answer every question right. I'm like who the fuck is this genius? We get to talking and he tells me he's Wally and we end up chatting about old exotica and new wave records. This guy had an encyclopedic knowledge of music and was as cool as fuck. Turns out it was international pop star GOTYE! WTF I just thought it was my new Aussie friend Wally. Dude could not have been nicer, cooler or smarter about music! Life is weird."

By the way, Gotye is real name is Wouter "Wally" de Backer. Which just goes to show, especially when it's the Monday between Coachella weekends, you never know who you're going up against in pub trivia.

WATCH: Dick Clark's Best '25,000 Pyramid' Moments

$

To an entire generation, Dick Clark, who passed away today at the age of 82, was America's Oldest Teenager, rocking and rolling on "American Bandstand." I am not part of this generation. To people my age, yes, "Bandstand" was still on, but his duties as the host of "25,000 Pyramid" (and, to a lesser extent, the co-host of "TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes") were much more exciting. For those who have never seen "Pyramid," it was your typical "celebrity teamed with a normal Joe," clue and answer game -- but what made it great was Clark's knack for upstaging his celebrity guests who just lost for his or her non celebrity teammate in the Winner's Circle. (I wouldn't go as far to use the word that Grantland's Bill Simmons did, but, yeah, things could get tense. Then again, wouldn't we all do the same thing?) Here are five of our favorite Dick Clark as host of "Pyramid" moments.

Poor Betty White. Back in 1987, she couldn't even get more than half of the pyramid -- getting stuck on two separate clues. White mistakingly went for kitchen utensils for the answer "Things Found in a Drawer." After, Clark offered up "folded underwear," to which the contestant gives White a look and says, "that would have done it." Sadly, after this appearance, Betty White was never heard from again.

Now this is how it's done. Fast forward to 4:45 and watch how Michael J. Fox masterfully beats the Pyramid.

William Shatner (of course it's William Shatner) almost caused Clark some serious injury after an unfortunate chair throwing incident. You see, Shatner accidentally uses the answer as a clue, which disqualifies his partner. Madness ensues. (Unfortunately, the clip can't be embedded, but you can watch it here.)

Here, Martin Mull does a pretty terrible job in the Winner's Circle (and probably uses an inappropriate remark about Native Americans as a clue), but it's nice to see that even Clark (at 10:22) can't get the contestant to say "things that are supported." Actually, it's Mull who comes through with the clue of "arch." Regardless, Mull got himself disqualified long before that clue anyway.

In July, Grantland dug up a clip of frequent guest David Letterman being humiliated by Clark after getting himself disqualified for trying to rhyme the clues with the answer. (Yes, that's aganst the rules.) Here, Letterman, inexplicably wearing shorts (but that's why we love Dave) plays the Winner's Circle with fellow star Jo Anne Worley (the main game had ended in a tie so the two stars played and would split the winnings between the two contestants), but, sadly, the result is similar. With 30 seconds left, Dave couldn't come up with a clue to get Jo Anne to say, "things that are flexible." Here's what's great: Clark comes over and says, "An old fashioned boys sled," a clue that goes nowhere with Worley. Letterman, possibly thinking back to the year before, is obviously very pleased with that lack of a result.

Regardless, we've been missing moments like this on television for quite some time and we'll miss the even more with Clark's passing.

Dick Clark Dies From Heart Attack At Age 82: Why Are Heart Attacks Fatal?

Dick Clark -- the beloved host of "New Year's Rockin' Eve" and "American Bandstand" -- has died at age 82 from a heart attack, according to multiple news outlets.

Clark died of a heart attack that he suffered this morning, TMZ reported. However, TMZ said that more details about the death are still not clear.

In 2004, Clark had suffered a stroke, which resulted in partial paralyzation and problems speaking, ABC News reported.

A heart attack, or myocardial infarction, occurs when blood flow through the coronary artery is blocked to the heart.

From the National Institutes of Health:

Eventually, an area of plaque can rupture (break open) inside of an artery. This causes a blood clot to form on the plaque's surface. If the clot becomes large enough, it can mostly or completely block blood flow through a coronary artery.

When the heart is unable to receive blood, it can become damaged and can lead to death, the Mayo Clinic reported.

Damage from a heart attack can lead to fatal conditions like heart arrhythmia (where your heart beats abnormally because of damaged heart muscle), heart failure (where your heart can't pump correctly, leading to less blood being pumped out to the rest of the body) and heart rupture (where the heart muscle actually ruptures and a hole develops in the heart), according to the Mayo Clinic. Heart valves may also be damaged and leak after a heart attack.

The National Institutes of Health points out that it's especially important to get help immediately when you think you are having a heart attack, because the longer you go without treatment, the more likely the heart muscle is to die.

The National Institutes of Health reported that coronary heart disease most commonly causes heart attacks, though a less-common cause is a coronary artery spasm. That condition occurs when the coronary artery is tightened, thereby cutting off the flow of blood to the heart.

Symptoms of heart attack generally include some sort of chest pain or an uncomfortable feeling in the chest; other symptoms include shortness of breath, nausea, fatigue and discomfort in the arms, neck, upper stomach or jaw, according to the National Institutes of Health.

However, that's not to say that you will feel all of these symptoms if you are having a heart attack. HuffPost reported on a study of 1 million heart attack patients published earlier this year in the Journal of the American Medical Association, which showed that 35 percent of those patients didn't have the "hallmark" symptoms of chest pain or discomfort.

And symptoms are not equal between men and women. Women were less likely to present with the chest pain and discomfort symptoms than men were, according to that study.
