Have you noticed that the first 65-year-old cover girl on Vanity Fair was actually born a boy? Is that transsexual progress or just trans-sexism?

What Is Brody Jenner Trying To Say With This NSFW Cartoon

No, really -- what exactly was Brody Jenner trying to say when he posted this really NSFW cartoon to Instagram and then quickly deleted it?

The image in question is of a brunette woman receiving oral sex from a tiger and includes the caption, "Licking 4 my keys." The Internet has noticed that the woman seems to bear somewhat of a resemblance to Jenner's 17-year-old sister Kylie Jenner, who happens to be dating a 25-year-old rapper named Tyga. Coincidence or commentary?

Well, Brody's girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter told TMZ it was all just a coincidence, and that she told him to take it down because it wasn't funny.

Of course, a picture is worth a thousand words:

Chris Pratt Talks About The Challenges Of Disciplining His Toddler Son

During his June 11 appearance on "Conan," Chris Pratt talked about his 2-year-old son Jack and how hard it can be for him and wife Anna Farris to discipline the toddler.

"We try to present a unified front," he told the talk show host, adding that neither he nor Farris is particularly good at laying down the law.

Pratt then shared a story about a recent dinnertime incident. "You know how kids are great 95 percent of the time, and then five percent of the time, they're just little a-holes?" he began.

The actor said Jack threw a small dinnertime tantrum that involved smashing fruit and flipping his bowl of soup upside down.

"I take him into the other room, take a chair, face it into the corner and say, 'You're in a time-out. Now I want you to sit here and think,'" he said. But as he and Farris continued eating, they noticed that the toddler seemed perfectly at ease, Pratt added, doing a hilarious impression of his son's content face.

"I was like, 'I don't think this seems like punishment to him.'"

When time-out was over, Pratt asked his son if he had a chance to think, and when Jack said yes, he asked what he thought about.

"Trains and dogs," he replied.

Toddler discipline is tough.

Women, Please Stop Watching 'Goodfellas'

$
0
0
This is a public service announcement: Women are only allowed to like movies about women -- because apparently, it’s all we can understand!

At least that's how The New York Post's film critic Kyle Smith feels. He declared that women are “not capable of understanding” the six-time Academy Award nominated classic film, “Goodfellas” in a June 10 piece.

And how could they? According to Smith, the film takes place “in a world guys dream about.” It’s “Entourage” with guns. A comparison, I’m sure, esteemed filmmaker Martin Scorsese and screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi (who was married to notable woman Nora Ephron) would be quite proud of.

Ladies, don’t waste one little ounce of energy prettily tilting your heads or furrowing your coiffed brows in an attempt to understand the complexities and nuance of such a dynamic, masculine world.

Say goodbye to enjoying “The Sopranos,” “Casino” and “The Godfather.” You just don’t get it. You will only be left feeling confused, alone and traumatized by the guns! The crime! The drama!

Focus instead on shows like “Sex and the City,” where the girls sit around complaining about men, but do so with the understanding that they will always -- always! -- support one another.

After all, it’s not like “Goodfellas” introduces Lorraine Bracco’s character Karen 30 minutes in and arguably makes the film about her. It’s not like we hear her voiceover throughout the movie time and time again -- literally putting us in her head so that we can hear her thoughts.

Ladies, don’t focus on that. Don’t pay attention to the power dynamics at play between Ray Liotta's Henry Hill and Karen. Don’t note the ways she flexes her power and the ways that he responds to it. Instead just pin some things on Pinterest and get your Midol in order before your next cycle hits.

Whatever you do, don’t track Karen’s journey. While all the other characters in "Goodfellas" grew up around crime, Karen is a "good girl," an outsider, a Jew, who marries into the mob and finds ways of normalizing their world so that she can exist in it. She is later left picking up the pieces, wondering how she justified and rationalized herself into a puddle on the floor. No woman can relate to that, surely.

Also, make sure you avert your eyes when the film depicts characters that constantly test limits as well as each other’s authority. Look away when egos are bruised, vows are broken, power is mishandled and respect is stepped upon.

The film is not about relationships, I promise. There’s no emotion here. It’s just guns. And bros. And bros with guns.

If you ask Smith, “Goodfellas” is just a movie about “ball-busting etiquette.” It’s certainly not about identity and the sacrifices we are willing to make for an ultimate goal.

Remember ladies, the characters in “Goodfellas” are scum. But to all men everywhere, “they’re hilarious, they’re heroes.” Don’t believe me? Smith told us so.

In case you didn’t know, women are genetically disqualified from relating to a coming of age story -- one where a bright-eyed teen says, “As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster.”

Don’t trick yourself into thinking this is an origin story -- or, gasp! -- a cautionary tale. Henry wants to be somebody. And only men can relate to that.

Women, it’s best if you can avoid watching “Goodfellas” all together. If you do find yourself in a room where it’s on, take a tip from the film. The two most important rules are: “Never rat on your friends and always keep your mouth shut.”

Just when we thought Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart's bromance couldn't get any cuter.

McKellen and Stewart shared a kiss at the premiere of "Mr. Holmes" at ODEON Kensington in London Wednesday. The 74-year-old Stewart was there to support his friend, 76, who stars in "Mr. Holmes" as an older Sherlock Holmes who is hung up on an unsolved case from his past.

Last year, the two talked to The Huffington Post about their friendship, which blossomed on the set of "X-Men."

"[O]ur coming together is a relatively recent thing," McKellen said. "But we fell into each other's arms because of our similarities in our career, and because of our age and because we like the same sort of things. Despite the fact that he's from Yorkshire and I'm from Lancashire!"

"That's the big difference between us," McKellen continued. "If Patrick does something other people think is a bit strange, I just say he's Yorkshire!"

Here's What It's Like To Be Batman, According To Actors Who've Played Batman

Ever wonder what it's like to be a superhero? Mark Edlitz certainly has. Edlitz's new book, How To Be A Superhero, is full of original and repurposed interviews with dozens of actors who have played superheroes or villains. Though they only donned the cape or suit for just a short moment in time, these actors have a lot to say about what it feels like to possess superhuman abilities.

"My goal was to speak to the actors when they were not promoting a specific project so that they would be more open to actually revealing something about their experience," Edlitz told The Huffington Post in a recent interview. His book, which has a foreword by Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet, can be pre-ordered from BearManor Media.

Here are some of the things Edlitz learned from actors who have portrayed the Caped Crusader, both by conducting original interviews and researching those from the past.

Adam West played the character for 120 episodes of "Batman" from 1966-1968. Before the success of his hit show, low sales and waning interest actually threatened the "Batman" franchise's existence, which was at the brink of cancellation.

Without West, the Dark Knight may have been long forgotten before the other actors on this list had the opportunity to play the part.

The actor told Edlitz that he believes the success of his interpretation came from being sincere, not solely goofy. "In my case, I reasoned that if I played Batman with utter sincerity -- in that he doesn't think he is funny -- and occasionally with a little wink to the audience, then I could be absurdly big with the character." West said. "Those characters became almost Shakespearian."

Top Quote: Total Film, 2011. Image: "Batman & Robin"

Perhaps George Clooney, along with fans of the series, would rather forget this performance in 1997's "Batman & Robin." As Edlitz notes, it was so bad that afterwards, superhero movies went out of style for almost a decade.

Clooney explained how the disastrous role first came about in an interview with Total Film in 2011, saying, "The truth is, my phone rang, and the head of Warner Bros said, 'Come into my office, you are going to play Batman in a Batman film.' I said 'Yeah!'"

Even though Clooney felt his Batman wasn't all that great, he was still grateful for what the part did for his acting career. Telling Total Film in 2011, "Batman is still the biggest break I've ever had and it completely changed my career, even if it was weak and I was weak in it." Though, the suit may have been a bit much ...

"They put nipples on the Batsuit," Clooney joked with James Lipton in 2012. "I didn't know why they would do that. If Batman had to wear the suit that [I] had to wear, everyone would die."

Batman gifs
Image: "Batman: The Animated Series

Though often neglected when considering the famous Batmans (since he was a voice actor), Kevin Conroy has actually played the character the most. Conroy's work has shown up in over a couple dozen Batman titles including the various animated series from the '90s and the latest series of video games, such as the recently released "Batman: Arkham Knight."

As Edlitz writes, Conroy has become "Warner Bros. Animation's 'go-to guy' to play Batman."

Like West, Conroy also thought his take on Batman was Shakespearian, likening it to "the Hamlet story."

Coincidentally, Conroy also almost shared an apartment with his school friend Christopher Reeve, who would eventually play Superman.

"Chris was at Julliard when I was there. I was seventeen, and he was a few years ahead of me in school," Conroy told Edlitz. "We considered sharing an apartment at the time. Chris wanted to rent this wonderful loft in SoHo, but I just didn't have the money. We were friends. I did end up rooming with Robin Williams because we were in the same financial shape."

Top Quote: BBC, 1992. Image: "Batman"

Michael Keaton famously alluded to his past as the Caped Crusader in last year's Oscar-winning "Birdman," harping on the hard time fans had in telling him apart from Batman. Though, Keaton only played Batman in two movies: "Batman" (1989) and "Batman Returns" (1992), both making over $675 million worldwide.

Keaton explained his take on the role to Playboy in 1992, saying, "He's essentially depressed and a little nuts, real dark, and a couple of steps off. Yet, at the same time, he's not off at all ... and he's focused. Bruce Wayne gets real focused when he sees a woman he's interested in."

The Batsuit was extremely hard to move around in, with Keaton telling the BBC in 1992, "It's very constricting from actually the top of your head to the tip of your toes." Even so, Keaton fondly recalled his hero, The Joker Jack Nicholson, telling him to let the suit do the acting.

Christian Bale's much celebrated take on Batman played out over three films, "Batman Begins" (2005), "The Dark Knight" (2008) and "The Dark Knight Rises' (2012). Batman had never been more demonic than when the former "American Psycho" star took on the role.

As Bale told BlackFilm in 2005, he felt he had to take the character to a darker place than ever before. "To me, like just standing there in the Batsuit, I felt like an idiot on his way to a Halloween party, and that's the way he's often been portrayed ... It just wasn't savage enough for what to me that Batsuit felt like it had to be."

Bale continued, saying: "It was his demonic incarnation and the way that he channeled all of his negative emotions and rage so that he was able to function in regular society as Bruce Wayne."

He also told IGN in 2005, "I think because he channels his rage so much into the Batman character and reacting that as a creature and a kind of monster, that in a way it's demonic therapy."

He wakes up earlier than you, and he probably goes to bed later than you. He runs two bakeries in New York City and is opening a third in Tokyo. He cooks with Jimmy Fallon, and somehow he still makes time to talk to his fans. Oh, he also invented the Cronut.

We're talking, of course, about none other than Dominique Ansel, the famed chef and mastermind behind the world's most famous pastry.

If you've ever wondered what a day in the life of the Cronut inventor actually looks like, a new video series produced by Zagat in partnership with The Huffington Post is about to rock your world.

Ansel is entirely hands on and present throughout every phase of his bakeries' operations, from the conception of all the recipes and invoicing to personally handing out chocolate chip cookie shots and meeting his customers -- many of whom have flown around the globe to try some of his magical creations.

The man's got his own selfie hashtag: #anselfie. Perfection.

Humble despite the fame, and playful throughout a gruelingly long day, Ansel is everything you'd hope a real-life Willy Wonka would be, plus he's French.

The film, which hits theaters in June 2016, tells the story of a woman who forms a friendship with a man who has recently become paralyzed.

You may have seen Zach Braff on Tinder or some other dating app, but according to the "Scrubs" actor, no such profiles belong to him.

"People do make profiles of me on lots of different social media things," he told HuffPost Live's Marc Lamont Hill on Friday. "I think I now have them all under my control."

The news is bound to disappoint Braff lovers after the actor tweeted a shirtless picture last June with the caption, "This is my profile pic for FarmersOnly, Tindr and Grindr."

While the 40-year-old announced that he is currently single, the "Garden State" filmmaker feels that Tinder would be "a little too intense" for him.

"I've totally played with my friends' [profiles] because it is quite popular with the people these days, and a lot of people I know are meeting online, but no, I think I'll stay off Tinder," he said.

Braff's next project, a remake of the classic '70s film "Going in Style," starts filming this August.

The teen even shared an inspirational caption for the occasion:

Shout out, not just to all the 2015 grads but to the soon to be! Please remember knowledge is one of the most powerful gifts we have the privilege of receiving...don't take that for granted. To every soon to be grad, know that you CAN do it! Prior to the ceremony, the "Shake It Up" star attended her rehearsal, even though she didn't really know anyone in her graduating class. But, her classmates clearly didn't seem to mind:

Even Taylor Swift shared her excitement for her BFF.

And Zendaya wasn't the only star in her class -- Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas was also among the students graduating. The gold medalist posted a photo on Instagram with an equally inspiring caption.

This Crazy 'Jurassic World' Theory Actually Makes A Lot Of Sense

$

0
While "Jurassic World" is just making its way into theaters, theories are already taking over the Internet faster than the dinos took over the original park.

Some of the wildest theories include the Barbasol can from the original movie somehow playing a major role. Other fans think the reason the kids are headed to the park is because it's "Coupon Day."

Though a lot of them just seem like wishful thinking, life keeps finding a way for one theory in particular:

Chris Pratt's "Jurassic World" character is the little kid Dr. Grant scares in the original "Jurassic Park."

Image: Vanity Fair

The theory about the true identity of Chris Pratt's character, Owen, started gaining a lot of momentum after the trailer came out. Reddit user farceur318 explains:

In the upcoming Jurassic World, Chris Pratt's character, a velociraptor trainer, is the chubby kid that Grant [Sam Neill] frightens at the beginning of the original film. Grant tells him to "have a little respect" for raptors, and in the trailers for "Jurassic World," Pratt's character describes his relationships with the parks raptors as "a relationship based on respect."

The trailer isn't the only supporting evidence. Whit Hertford, now 36, is the actor who played the role of the kid, billed as "Volunteer Boy" in the original movie. He and Chris Pratt are only 1 year apart in age (Pratt is 35), so the timing works out pretty well. Plus, released clips from the movie may also hint at some sort of connection.

tv show gifs
Image: YouTube/Universal

In "Jurassic Park," Grant tells the kid about the raptor attack patterns, warning him to watch out for an attack from the sides. As you can see in clips, Chris Pratt specifically thwarts a side attack while saving a new employee in the movie.

Everyone loves the theory so much that even "Jurassic World" director Colin Trevorrow wouldn't dispel it after being asked by movie website /Film, saying, "I'm not sure I want to answer because the speculation is so much fun. Let's not kill the fun."

Image: /Film

Even with all the support, there's at least one person who isn't too amused. It's the striped-shirt "annoying" kid himself, Hertford.

The actor, who currently stars in the short film "Wildlife," told The Huffington Post: "I think it's a stretch. This face doesn't turn into a blonde matinee idol. I'm not dead. Not retired. Perfectly capable of resuming that character if asked. And after enduring 20 years of being known as 'the fat, annoying kid' ... Pretty sure fans would highly enjoy that, if done properly."

For fans who do want to see old characters return, Hertford has the perfect solution for future "Jurassic World" movies: "Kill me off! Kill that guy off because everybody hates that character. I think that would be the greatest thing in the world."

What do you think? Is this theory headed for extinction? Or did someone put "Volunteer Boy" in charge of the raptors?

Kim Kardashian Posts Adorable Photo Of North West Wearing Kanye's Gold Chain

Could North West be any cuter? We think not.

Kim Kardashian posted an adorable snap of her daughter on Twitter and Instagram Friday, and we can't even deal. In the shot, we see little North dressed in a pastel pink dress with a diamond encrusted gold chain (likely Kanye's) around her neck.

Kim, who recently announced she's expecting her second child with West, captioned the photo, "No daddy's it's me necklace."

Just, awww.

North definitely knows a good accessory when she sees it. And we doubt Kanye's getting that chain back any time soon (because really, how could he have the heart to take it away from her).

The toddler also has no shortage of garments to play dress-up in, not to mention she'll inherit Kim's entire wardrobe when she's older. Must be nice!

Seth MacFarlane Finally Addresses Those Caitlyn Jenner 'Family Guy' Clips

Earlier this month, Caitlyn Jenner introduced herself to the world with a 22-page Vanity Fair photo shoot. Jenner had only publicly come out as transgender back in April in an interview with Diane Sawyer, which led many to wonder: Did "Family Guy" actually know about this years ago?

Recently, "Family Guy" clips have resurfaced that some are saying predicted Jenner's transition. In one clip from 2009, Stewie Griffin calls Jenner "an elegant, beautiful Dutch woman." In another, Jenner dances provocatively for a crowd while Peter Griffin says, "Just wanted to remind you fellas what you're all fighting for."

When asked how the jokes came about during a recent "Ted 2" conference call, "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane told The Huffington Post he's "too savvy to comment on the issue to the media." He explained, "Once the outrage industry shuts down, I will be happy to have an adult conversation about all of this stuff anytime anyone wants, but, even though I’m on the side of support, I just don’t think there’s any way to … you just got to play it safe because the climate is just too charged. Anything I say can and will be used against me."

The comedian added, "My philosophy is live and let live, and if something makes someone happy, and they're able to do it -- as long as it isn’t hurting anybody -- live and let live."

During the call, MacFarlane also addressed political correctness in comedy, saying that most of the perceived outrage over jokes comes from the media, not the public. He added, "Nobody sets out to -- at least I don’t -- nobody sets out to offend or shock for the sake of shocking. You set out to get laughs."

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is so rock 'n' roll.

A stage jump gone wrong at his band's show in Gothenburg, Sweden, on Friday left the 46-year-old Foo Fighters musician with a serious leg injury, reports TMZ.

According to Consequence of Sound, the singer fell while performing the band's 1997 hit song "Monkey Wrench," and in video footage from the show, he can be heard telling the audience, "Hey, ladies and gentlemen. I love you, but I think I just broke my leg. I really my broke leg. Right now, I'm gonna go to the hospital. I'm gonna fix my leg. But then I'm gonna come back, and we're gonna play for you again. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry."

Grohl left to seek medical attention, while the band's drummer Taylor Hawkins' filled in for the singer. Grohl ultimately returned to the stage and sang Queen and David Bowie's duet, "Under Pressure."

"I may not be able to walk or run, but I can still play guitar and scream," he told the audience, while sitting in a chair with his leg bandaged.

The First 'Leftovers' Season 2 Teaser Sets Up A Whole New Mystery

As if there weren't already enough unanswered questions in HBO's "The Leftovers," the new season will bring even more.

HBO released the first teaser trailer for Season 2 of Damon Lindelof's series on Friday, hinting at the direction the eerie drama will take. The teaser shows a traffic-jam of cars lined up on a highway while various people wait to enter Jarden, Texas. What is so special about this town? No Jarden residents have seemingly disappeared during the Departure.

The first season of "The Leftovers," based on Tom Perrotta's book of the same name, was set in Mapleton, New York three years after the Departure, a Rapture-like event in which two percent of the world's population suddenly disappeared. All that is known about Season 2 so far is that it will take place in another town (clearly Jarden) and only feature some of the lead cast from the first season, including Justin Theroux and Amy Brenneman.

Lindelof recently talked to The Huffington Post about the series, which has been called one of the most depressing shows on television. The "Lost" co-creator said that he was working on "The Leftovers" Season 2 while editing his latest film "Tomorrowland," revealing how difficult it was to jump between the optimism of the Disney movie and darkness of the series. "I was probably not the most pleasant person to live with," Lindelof said of his time working on the new season.

"The Leftovers" Season 2 premieres this fall on HBO.
