Rob Delaney Describes His Specially-Made 'Modesty Pouch' For Sex Scenes On 'Catastrophe'

Rob Delaney shows some skin in his new comedy series "Catastrophe," but he made a concerted -- and "embarrassing" -- effort to not show too much, he told HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri on Wednesday.

During a conversation alongside his co-star Sharon Horgan, Delaney discussed his sex scenes in the series, which follows a couple who accidentally conceives a child and decides to start a relationship. The intimate scenes required Delaney to wear "a modesty pouch that they specially made for me, which was like a sack that you tie around your whole genital zone."

"It was actually such a weird-looking thing that it was more embarrassing to me than being naked," Delaney said. "But the crew was like, 'No, we'd rather you have that on than be naked.' And I was like, 'Well, suit yourself.'"

Watch Delaney and Horgan describe shooting those scenes in the video above, and click here for the full HuffPost Live conversation about "Catastrophe," which is available for streaming June 19 on Amazon Prime.

The Legend Of Brangelina

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie fell in love on the set of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." Now that they're married and Jolie has been beatified as the Saint of Hollywood, that's just another larger-than-life element of their love story. 10 years ago, it was the stuff of tabloid fan fiction.

The rumors surrounding 2005's "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" seem like a distant memory juxtaposed with the way Jolie has morphed her image into something most accurately described as "feminist Mother Earth." But Jolie was once best known for wearing a vial of Billy Bob Thornton's blood and making out with her brother at the Oscars. When "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" was in production in 2004, she was rebellious, sexy and shocking, and deliberately so. That image, mixed with the plot of the film (about ridiculously good-looking married assassins), sparked rumors as soon as she was cast to star alongside Pitt.

angelina jolie 2004

At the time, Pitt had entered the pinnacle of his career. He'd built a rugged yet accessible image that had helped him carry a fringe movie like "Fight Club" to relative success at the box office and won him People's "Sexiest Man Alive" title twice over (in 1995 and 2000). He was also one half of America's most beloved couple, the second half being Rachel Green Jennifer Aniston.

"Friends" aired its finale in May of 2004, meaning Aniston was at the height of her sweetheart status by the time "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" wrapped filming that year. She announced her divorce from Pitt in January of 2005, five months before the debut of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and a year and a half before Jolie publicly admitted she'd fallen for Pitt on set.

"It took until, really, the end of the shoot for us, I think, to realize that it might mean something more than we'd earlier allowed ourselves to believe," she told Vogue in January of 2007. "And both knowing that the reality of that was a big thing, something that was going to take a lot of serious consideration."

jennifer aniston brad pitt

It's interesting -- if only in light of the pity-Jennifer-Aniston narrative that has managed to thrive in trashy magazines for over a decade -- to think that Jolie was not the first pick for "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." In fact, she likely wouldn't have been cast if it weren't for a delay in filming.

Pitt initially gave director Doug Liman the script with Nicole Kidman as his Mrs. Smith. When her work on Frank Oz's "Stepford Wives" remake went over schedule, Liman approached Jolie, but she was busy filming "Alexander" (and spurring rumors that she "desperately wanted" Colin Farrell).

According to casting director Michelle Gertz, Pitt hurt his ankle while finishing up "Troy" and things were delayed, leaving time for Jolie to reconsider. In the interim, the likes of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Cate Blanchett were considered for the role. "We pretty much had our pick of people," she told The Huffington Post over the phone. "Even Gwen Stefani came in to read." Frankly, Liman didn't think anyone else was right for the role.

"This film needed a really strong female star ... because I wanted to be really violent," Liman said in a separate interview with HuffPost. "They were going to be beating the crap out of each other. So, I needed a movie star, because if that was too real, it would be battery. There really wasn't anybody right but Angelina Jolie. If I hadn't found her, I'd still be waiting to make the film."

Once Liman shot his first scene with Jolie and Pitt, he knew their chemistry would take the film to the next level. "They were amazing together right from the beginning, from that opening scene in couples' counseling on the first day with no rehearsal," he said. "And that's the stuff you can't fake. They were just magnetic on screen together."

Producer Akiva Goldsman echoed that sentiment in yet another conversation with HuffPost. "They're a great pairing on screen. There's no question about it," he said. "They’re both fiercely intelligent, beautiful and talented. You know, who doesn’t want to watch that?"

brad pitt

Jolie and Pitt's chemistry on set was undeniable. But, of course, chemistry is an aspect of acting that is not necessarily romantic (even on screen). "I mean, there's chemistry between Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn in 'Swingers,'" Liman said. "I always cast couples with great chemistry, but they don't always fall in love."

Still, the rumor mill churned even though nearly a year passed after filming completed before there was any evidence the two were dating. In April of 2005, Us Weekly published a photo of the then-unofficial couple with Jolie's adopted son Maddox playing on the beach. "[Their] romance was left up to speculation, until one photo surfaced that changed everything," the tabloid wrote of the picture on the anniversary this year.

"Speculation" is an awfully polite word for the storm of absurdity that swirled around the nascent pairing. The unsubstantiated buzz first turned to front-page headlines when a photo emerged of the two holding hands on set in February of 2004. Soon, there were paparazzi following Liman's principles to and from work. "I always knew when Brad was going to arrive on set because I could hear the helicopters that would follow him," he said.

The stories ranged wildly in detail, most often depicting Jolie as a cunning seductress who actively worked to steal Pitt from Aniston. As The New York Post wrote as part of their ever-classy coverage back in 2005: "At one time, there was an extra-delicious rumor going around Hollywood that Angelina took off her underwear for [the film's sex scene] –- just to give Brad a little surprise."

The intrigue had gotten so intense by the end of filming, that New Regency wouldn't allow Liman to go through the traditional process of previewing the film for test audiences. "There was so much heat on the movie from all the tabloid insanity that it was too risky for them to preview," he said. "I only got to preview it once, when the movie was done, like a month before it was opened."

brad pitt angelina jolie

Despite the frenzied attempts at coverage, a decade later, the only thing that can be confirmed with any certainty is that the two had a special connection on and off set.

"You could see some fraternizing between them," second assistant director Steven P. Del Prete told HuffPost. "There wasn't aggressive PDA, but afterwards, once it unfolded, everyone was like, 'Oh, okay.'"

Director of photography Bojan Bazelli had a similar impression. "I don't know if I really noticed it until I saw the scenes cut together in the editing room," he told HuffPost. "Towards the end of the shoot, we crew began to think something was growing between them, but it wasn't until much later that it became clear that it was a real thing."

Del Prete remembers one night, after filming in the desert, Jolie and Pitt stuck around in lieu of returning to their hotel, built a campfire and spent the night in their trailers. "It was a little more than a working relationship," he added. "You don't really see those flirtatious type of things."

Gertz also noted an obvious friendship. "You definitely saw a back and forth ... just an easiness about people that have not spent a lot of time together," she said. "Or, you know, just an easiness when you have 150 people in the crew around you dissecting every part of the scene, and you still have a fun camaraderie, a banter, that you’re able to maintain."

brad pitt angelina jolie

Jolie is adamant that she did not consummate her feelings for Pitt until after he and Aniston had broken up. "To be intimate with a married man, when my own father cheated on my mother, is not something I could forgive," she said in an interview with People after "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" had finished filming. "I could not look at myself in the morning if I did that." It's worth noting that Aniston addressed her divorce this past January, telling The Hollywood Reporter that "no one did anything wrong."

The cast and crew of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" corroborate that version of the story.

"There seemed to be a full-color-spectrum relationship between them," Bazelli said. "Yet on the set there was nothing but professionalism."

"They were really just co-stars," Goldsman agreed. "Really, really, for the experience of making our movie. You know, which isn’t to say that they clearly weren't, at a certain point, enamored with each other."

brad pitt angelina jolie

And yet, even with all these testaments to the lack of a physical relationship, it's almost impossible to imagine Pitt and Jolie meeting on set and Pitt and Aniston's divorce as unrelated events, if only because of the timeline.

There's little evidence that Pitt and Aniston were struggling prior to "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." In the aforementioned issue of Vogue, Jolie even said "it was clear he was with his best friend."

We'll never know the gritty details of what happened between these three indelible pop-culture figures. But picking apart the facts on the tenth anniversary of the film (June 7), it's clear that "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" changed the lives of Aniston, Pitt and Jolie forever.

"Their relationship didn't happen quickly, but as it eventually unfolded, it is clear that it is truly one of a kind -- a relationship that we don't see very often," Bazelli said. "And not because of their star power. They are exceptional human beings who take care of each other."

Pitt looked back on "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" in a 2008 interview with Rolling Stone, noting it as his favorite of Jolie's films, almost as an afterthought. "I just mean because, you know ... six kids," he said, explaining his answer. "Because I fell in love."

When you peel back the sticky pages of tabloid noise, there's no pulpy scandal. Beneath the legend of Brangelina is a more mundane romance, a genuine connection forged between two people who just so happen to be megastars. Pitt and Jolie are still so fascinating all these years later because their relationship is the closest thing we've ever seen to the Hollywood fantasy (almost) coming true.

"It was a story that was wish fulfillment," Goldsman said with thoughtful reflection. "I think what you end up with is life and art sort of paralleling each other, which is something that everyone in the world delights in. There’s a voyeurism in movies, even if it's not real."

Jessa And Jill Duggar Have 'Forgiven' Josh Duggar For Molesting Them

Sisters Jessa Seewald, 22, and Jill Dillard, 24, (née Duggar) broke their silence earlier this week confirming they were two of the five minors whom their oldest brother Josh Duggar molested.

On Wednesday, their parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar sat down for a interview with Fox's Megyn Kelly, during which the stars of TLC's "19 Kids and Counting" tried to explain why they kept the abuse from the authorities for years. They attempted to claim the real injustice was the fact Josh's sealed juvenile record had been released to In Touch -- claims that proved to be simply false. (As soon as the Duggar family tried to deflect the situation from themselves and make it about the records, Springdale city attorney Ernest B. Cate wrote in a statement that the Springdale Police Department responded to records request under the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act. "The requested record was not sealed or expunged, and at the time the report was filed, the person listed in report was an adult. Any names of minors included in the report, as well as pronouns, were redacted from the report by the Springdale Police Department in compliance with Arkansas law prior to release.")

But on Friday, Kelly will sit down with Jessa and Jill for the conclusion of her interview with the family, in which, the host of "The Kelly File" told "Extra," the sisters reveal they have forgiven their brother for the abuse.

duggars

"They started off as your normal 22-, 24-year-old girls, a little bubbly, kinda giggly, and then when we did get into it, the tears started to flow. Imagine how painful that would be," she told "Extra." "They never chose to have this piece of their family story put out there, and I think they are struggling with what people are assuming about their family and about what happened to them."

She continued, "They also talked about the journey from the pain to the forgiveness, and it was not without some bumps in the road. All of the children went through counseling, all of them. Not just Josh, not just the victims. All of them went through licensed therapist counseling to try to get through what happened."

In a clip from from the sisters' upcoming interview airing on Fox, Jessa also defends her brother while calling herself his victim.

"I do want to speak up in his defense against people who are calling him a child molester or a pedophile or a rapist, [like] some people are saying,” Jessa told Kelly in an interview that will air on Friday . “I’m like, ‘That is so overboard and a lie, really.’ I mean, people get mad at me for saying that, but I can say this because I was one of the victims.”

Jessa Seewald and Jill Dillard's interview with Megyn Kelly on "The Kelly File" airs June 5 at 9 p.m. EST.

11 Baby Names Inspired By Famous June Brides

$

June is the month of dads and grads, but it’s also the month of June brides -- there are statistically more weddings held in this month than in any other. And celebs have proven to be just as traditional as other couples in picking that time of year for their nuptials.

Here are some of the best-named high-profile June brides, arranged chronologically.

Wallis

wallis simpson wedding

The June 3, 1937 wedding of King Edward VIII of England to American divorcee Wallis Warfield Simpson (born Bessie) was one of the most infamous of all time, causing him to abdicate his throne “for the woman I love” and become the Duke of Windsor. Wallis is an interesting, sophisticated female variation of Wallace that was used by Anthony Edwards for his daughter.

Oona

charlie chaplin oona

54-year old Charlie Chaplin married 18-year-old Oona, daughter of playwright Eugene O'Neill, on June 16, 1943 and together they would have eight children. The lively name Oona -- also spelled Una and Oonagh -- has a rich history in Irish legend, and is now carried on by Oona Chaplin’s same-named actress granddaughter.

Lucille

i love lucy anniversary 2013

On June 1, 1949, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz married for the second time. Though the name Lucille has made a surprising comeback of late, now at Number 343, it still has a way to go to top its Top 40 status of a century ago. Maya Rudolph and Paul Thomas Anderson chose it for one of their girls.

Ethel

ethel kennedy wedding

Ethel Skakel became the bride of Robert Kennedy on June 17, 1950; they went on to have seven sons and four daughters. The name Ethel had been written off after it dropped out of the Top 1000 in 1970. But wait -- we think we hear stirrings of a comeback, especially since singer Lily Allen picked it for her baby girl.

Coretta

coretta scott king

On June 18, 1953, singer and activist Coretta Scott married fellow Civil Rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr. This delicate diminutive of Cora is largely associated with Mrs. King and hasn’t seen much use by others.

Marilyn

marilyn monroe arthur miller

Marilyn Monroe’s third marriage, to playwright Arthur Miller, took place in a courthouse in White Plains, New York on June 25, 1956. It was her second time as a June bride. The name Marilyn is still in moderate use, but a surprise twist is the actress’s surname is being used as a girl’s name, as initiated by Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s pick for their twin daughter.

Betty

betty white ludden

The wedding of ageless Betty White to Alan Ludden took place on June 14, 1963 in Las Vegas. Betty, once the most common standalone nicknames of Elizabeth, got some new life via the glamorous Betty Draper character on "Mad Men."

Livia

livia firth

Italian film producer Livia Giuggioli married Colin Firth in Tuscany on June 21, 1997. Livia has been a name independent of Olivia since the time of the ancient Romans and remains popular in modern Italy. It entered the US list in 2004 and is now at Number 666.

Calista

calista flockhart ford

Calista Flockhart married long-time love Harrison Ford on June 15, 2010, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Flockhart’s delicate Greek name was inherited from her mother’s middle. It’s a hidden treasure that hasn’t been on the list for several years.

Drew

will kopelman

On June 1, 2012, Drew Barrrymore married writer Will Kopelman in Montecito, California, and they would go on to become parents of daughters Olive and Frankie. This male diminutive of Andrew has been feminized by Barrymore; it was the maiden name of her actress great-grandmother.

Camila

matthew mcconaughey

The wedding of Brazilian-born Camila Alves to Matthew McConaughey took place in Austin, Texas on June 9, 2012. Spelled with a single ‘l’, this is a rising Latina name that is now at Number 41 and heard in all Spanish-speaking countries. It was actually the tenth most popular name in California in 2014.

Meet Alicia Vikander, This Year's Breakout Star

$

0
You may not know her name yet, but we assure you Alicia Vikander will be well-known by the time award season rolls around. The 26-year-old Swedish actress is in six films this year, a handful of which are likely to be Oscar contenders.
With her previous credits, which include "Anna Karenina" and "A Royal Affair," along with her fantastic performance in this year's World War I drama "Testament of Youth," it feels like Vikander is our next Keira Knightley -- after all, she stars in the upcoming "Tulip Fever," which Knightley was once attached to. But Vikander, who is only just emerging in America, will have an even more diverse breakout year than most young actresses.

On top of her period dramas, Vikander is also showing her range in the sci-fi, action and comedy genres. She already impressed critics as A.I. robot Ava in "Ex Machina" earlier this year, and will appear in Derek Cianfrance's "The Light Between Two Oceans" alongside boyfriend Michael Fassbender, in comedy "Adam Jones" with Bradley Cooper, in Guy Ritchie's "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." and alongside Eddie Redmayne in "The Danish Girl."

The Huffington Post sat down with the actress in New York on Tuesday to discuss her big moment in Hollywood and working with "Game of Thrones star Kit Harington in James Kent's "Testament of Youth." In the film, based on Vera Brittain's book of the same name, Vikander portrays pacifist and writer Brittain. The story follows the young woman through WWI, as she falls in love with Harington's Roland Leighton before he goes off to battle. Harington told The Huffington Post that "Testament" was a film he fought to be in. "I needed to do this for me, I needed creatively to do this. It was getting to do some real fucking acting," he said with a laugh. Vikander and Harington have great chemistry in the film, which Kent said he noticed the first time he watched them together. "This felt great," Kent told HuffPost of the pair's screen test during a recent AOL Build series. "I was completely convinced that the romance side of the film would completely deliver."

Here's what Vikander told us about the film, youth and feminism, and her successful year:

alicia vikander

Vera begins as a young, privileged woman, but grows after working as a nurse and seeing the tragedies of war. What was it like to play those two sides of her?
I didn’t want to make her too much of a saint, because she became this great, wonderful pacifist and feminist and that’s what we know. But I thought it was amazing to kind of see the rawness I felt that she had. Because she’s a rebel. The modern woman that she had inside of her in her youth, myself, still after I’ve gone back and tried to [figure out], 'Where did she get it from? She’s grown up in the middle class home and she said, ‘I want to have an education, I want to learn, I want to travel, I want to be active politically.’ That was not the life of a woman at that time, and that’s just a hundred years ago.

Partly why I wanted to make this film was [so that] a young audience would hopefully, like me, do the same and read her words. It’s quite amazing with the kind of feminist revolution we’ve seen that’s going on still, how modern she is and her thoughts.

You have a lot of emotionally heavy scenes in this. How did you prepare for those?
I’m trying to get better at not preparing. I think preparing just comes out of being really nervous because you have read a scene on the page and you want it to be as effective up on the screen as what was your instinct when you read the script. So the best thing is to not, which is very hard.

testament

This is such a big year for you. Everyone’s calling you the breakout of 2015. Does it feel like that?
Trying to watch it from the outside, it feels a bit surreal, but also wonderful that the films are finally out. I’ve been quite locked in my little world and just been on my film sets. So now doing the press is something very different. I think I’ve been quite nervous because that’s very different from being in front of a film camera.

You’re also in “The Danish Girl." Can you speak to how that film will approach transgender storytelling authentically?
I can’t really talk about the film yet, but I think it’s a subject that is -- like we’ve seen with Caitlyn [Jenner], how she came out -- very much in the moment and I’m so happy that it gets the attention that it should have. I hope that our film is going to raise that in the best of ways. We've had a lot of people from that community who have been with us preparing for us to make this film. So I’m excited for it to come out.

This interview has been edited and condensed.

"Testament of Youth" is now playing.

Both Smith and Jacobs took to Instagram on Thursday night to share the exciting news. The stylish new spokesperson joins Cher, and according to Jacobs' caption, there are even more famous faces to come:

Ever since our first Juergen Teller ad in 1998 which featured Kim Gordon on stage wearing my dress, I have always preferred collaborating with the people who inspire me to give new life to the clothes we show on our runway. Over the years we have photographed an incredibly diverse and exceptional group of talented friends and individuals who I greatly admire: Victoria Beckham, Jamie Bochert, Jarvis Cocker, Sofia Coppola, Miley Cyrus, Dakota Fanning, William Eggleston, Jessica Lange, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Stephen Malkmus, Samantha Morton, Kate Moss, Charlotte Rampling, Winona Ryder, Stephanie Seymour, Cindy Sherman, Michael Stipe, and Rufus Wainwright, just to name a few. Jill And Jessa Duggar Say Brother Was 'A Little Too Curious About Girls' In Fox Interview

Jill Dillard and Jessa Seewald, stars of "19 Kids and Counting," have spoken out and revealed they were two of the five minors whom their oldest brother, Josh Duggar, molested.

But, in the conclusion of Megyn Kelly's two-part interview with the Duggar family, airing Friday at 9 p.m. EST, the sisters defend their brother's actions to "The Kelly File" host.

"Josh was a boy, a young boy in puberty, and a little too curious about girls," Jessa, who married Ben Seewald in November and is expecting her first child, told Kelly. "And that got him into some trouble. And he made some bad choices, but, really, the extent of it was mild -- inappropriate touching on fully clothed victims, most of it while [the] girls were sleeping." (Via the police report: [Jim Bob Duggar} said that [Josh] had told him that [he] had been touching [redacted] on the breast and vaginal areas while [they] were sleeping." Later in the report [Jim Bob] said there was another incident in March 2003. [Jim Bob] said that [Josh] was reading to [redacted] and [she] was sitting on [his] lap, [Josh] had touched [redacted's] breasts and vaginal area...sometime during this timeframe [Josh] had been standing in the laundry room and [Josh] had put [his] hand under [redacted's] dress.")

Jill, who married Derek Dillard in 2014 and welcomed a son in April, echoed what their parents had told Kelly on Wednesday -- that they "didn't even know" about the molestation until Josh had confessed to their parents. "None of the victims were aware of what happened until Joshua confessed," she said. Jessa added, "My parents took [us] aside individually, and they said, 'Here's what happened,' and of course at this point, you're shocked."

While Jessa said she thinks that giving her brother the label "child molester or a pedophile or a rapist," is "so overboard and a lie." Jill admitted that she was "scared," and added that she was "sad" to learn of what Josh had done, "because this is my older brother, who I love a lot. It's conflicting."

Meanwhile, Jessa also is quick to defend Josh (who before his confession was the executive director at the conservative, anti-gay group Family Research Council Action) against those calling him a hypocrite.

"It’s right to say, ‘Here’s what I believe, here’s my values,’ even if you’ve made stupid mistakes or failures," she told Kelly. "If you’ve had failures in your past, it doesn’t mean you can’t be changed. I think that’s where ... I think the real issue is people are making this sound like it happened yesterday."

The Duggar parents have been heavily criticized since they revealed they didn't seek any sort of help for Josh until the third time he confessed his behavior to them -- the breaking point, they said, was when he admitted to touching his youngest sister, who was only 5 years old at the time. The sisters, however, contend certain "safeguards" were implemented by their parents after their brother confessed to the abuse.

"Locks on the doors. You know, everybody’s in bed," Jill explained. "Girls in the girls' room. Boys in the boys' room -- as a mother now I look back, and I think, you know, my parents did such an amazing job for me. Even when we went through the DHS investigation they complimented my parents on what an amazing job they did through that process."

In the interview, Jill also said, "My parents have always actually stated ... we are not a perfect family. We are just a family."

In Constantly Talking About Forgiveness Are The Duggers Looking For 'Cheap Grace'?

There was one word Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar brought up frequently during a recent interview with Fox News' Megyn Kelly about their oldest son Josh’s molestation of young girls -- forgiveness.

In a Facebook post addressing the scandal, the "19 Kids and Counting" stars, both conservative Christians, emphasized the Christian concept that God can forgive any and all sins.

“It is one of the reasons we treasure our faith so much because God’s kindness and goodness and forgiveness are extended to us … He can bring you through anything,” the Duggars wrote.

But Rev. Alan Rudnick, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa, NY, said that he found the Duggars’ response “troubling.”

In an interview with HuffPost Live, Rudnick said Jesus talks about forgiveness quite a lot in the New Testament. However, focusing on forgiveness so soon after the allegations came to light could be interpreted as trying to sweep the victims, who include Josh’s two younger sisters, under the rug and move along.

“The whole narrative is troubling because there is such a thing as cheap forgiveness and cheap grace,” Rudnick said.

Hugh Jackman Hints At Possible 'Deadpool' Cameo, Without Saying Much At All

Hugh Jackman clearly isn't a fan of spoilers.

The actor, who recently announced that the upcoming "Wolverine 3" will be his final turn as the iconic "X-Men" character, tip-toed around a question about "Deadpool" during an interview with The Huffington Post on Thursday. Jackman, who is promoting his new documentary, "Dukale’s Dream," alongside the nationwide launch of his coffee brand The Laughing Man Coffee and Tea, kept mum when asked about a possible Wolverine cameo in Ryan Reynolds-fronted film.

"Hmmm, I can't ... no. Nope," Jackman mumbled under his lips while giving off a sweet smile. "But, I am really good mates with [Reynolds] so ..."

Rumors have been swirling about Wolverine's potential onscreen reunion with Deadpool in the highly-anticipated action flick, slated to be released Feb. 12, 2016. The actor and Reynolds previously played the parts opposite each other in 2009's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." "They are definitely enemies in the comics and they always spark off well together, so I’d be open to that idea," Jackman previously told MTV U.K. about appearing in "Deadpool."

As for Jackman's role in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse," he stayed quiet on that subject, too, coyly replying to HuffPost's inquiry with a "Who knows?"

hugh jackman

What we do know is that the 46-year-old actor is ready to get back in the gym and prep to play Wolverine one last time on the silver screen. "Weirdly, I'm really excited about shooting it. I feel great enthusiasm," he said of the untitled Wolverine sequel. "I suppose it's denial -- like the football player who announces their retirement before their last season -- and so I'm really looking forward to it. But, I know its not over yet! I still got a lot of 4 o'clock mornings and a hell of a lot of egg white omelettes and steamed chicken to have, and all of that."

Jackman insists we come back and ask him this same question in five years after he's "given up," but is truly ready to hang up his claws. "I feel very blessed that I loved playing this part," he said. "The last 'Wolverine' and that last 'X-Men' ['Days of Future Past'] were maybe two of the best and I feel like, hopefully, we'll do it again with this last one."

"There was a period about six years ago when I could see my choices being narrowed by Wolverine, but now I feel like they've opened up from doing 'Les Mis' or 'Prisoners' or 'Pan.' The options coming to me right now are more varied than they've ever been in my life," he added of what's to come. "Hopefully, I'm not that actor in 10 years who's unemployed going, 'Why did I ever leave it?' and then begging to come back."

Still, Jackman is pretty confident that 20th Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment are already looking for the next Wolverine.

"They were all really supportive -- 17 years is a long time," he said. "And I'm sure that they've already started casting, you know? Someone may sign up for an 11-picture deal, as we speak."

'Spy' Star Carlos Ponce Talks Melissa McCarthy, 'Cristela' And Latinos On TV

Melissa McCarthy delivers a punch as deftly as she does a punchline in her new action comedy “Spy,” and co-star Carlos Ponce says he learned plenty from watching the actress and comedian work on set.

The Puerto Rican actor is known for his role as the reluctantly friendly brother-in-law and floor installation guru Felix on ABC’s recently nixed “Cristela.” But in "Spy," Ponce trades his tools for a suit to become CIA agent Matthew Wright, who briefly appears on-screen to ruffle the feathers of his ultra-macho, comically impassioned fellow agent Rick Ford (Jason Statham). The testosterone levels of their interaction are as high as it gets for a film driven by its expertly cast female stars.

“Spy” is directed by Paul Feig (“Bridesmaids" and “Heat”) and marks his third collaboration with McCarthy. The film portrays Susan Cooper (McCarthy), a desk-bound CIA analyst who volunteers to go undercover when the identities of the agency’s best spies are compromised. Rose Byrne stars as a villainous and spoiled Bulgarian arms dealer, and Miranda Hart as fellow analyst Nancy.

Ponce, 42, spoke to The Huffington Post recently and gave some unexpected responses to questions about working in a film packed with females and the type of female characters he’d like his daughters to see in Hollywood. The actor also discussed why he feels “Cristela” was a “great accomplishment,” despite its recent cancellation.

How did you get involved with "Spy"?

Well, it’s a little different from most of my other projects -- it was more of an approach then an audition. Something that I was very proud of. Just being surrounded by these wonderful comedians where you can not only go work but have fun. It really, really was a great gig.

The film is actually very female-centric, with Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne and Miranda Hart bringing different comedy to the table -- what was it like to work with a set filled with funny women?

There was a hell of a lot of estrogen on that on that set, definitely. But it’s all the good kind, because at least it’s the ones that are always in a good mood. It was a lot of fun.

What kind of things did you learn about comedy from watching them and the rest of cast on set?

A lot of times it’s just different styles -- a lot of comedians have different styles, and [I learned] how different they are from their personalities. Just watching Jason, for example, who is not necessarily a comedian, just pull those power punches with great timing, and then watching people who are very sensible to comedy but not necessarily branded comedians, like Jude Law [who plays the spy Bradley Fine in the film].

Melissa McCarthy was just impeccable with everything. She has a sense of delivery that is very uncommon, very her own and something relatable that people love from her. She’s approachable and she’s lovable no matter what roles she’s doing. And those are things you can only learn when you watch, when you watch other people. You read a line, you know how it’s supposed to come, and then you hear it coming out of an artist and you’re like, ‘Wow, look at how much you can do with this.’

And you play CIA agent Matthew Wright. I have to say I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see more of you in the film.

Yeah [laughs], well, we’ll see. Hopefully it’s such a good movie that it’ll have a sequel and then we’ll all be hanging around.

Has there actually been talk about the possibility of “Spy 2”?

Well, talking over dinner with Paul Feig, he seemed very open to the option. We’ve even gotten into conversation of maybe where it would go. But you never know, I mean, Hollywood is a giant mystery, so you never know what ends up happening.

You’re the father of two daughters. There’s been so much debate in Hollywood about placing more women in lead roles, and “Spy” is definitely one that showcases female talent. What kind of women do you hope for your daughters to see in film and television?

Well, the best you can do is outside of what they’re going to watch -- which is inevitable, and you can’t control their surroundings -- is teach them by example at home and not let a character in a movie make them want something or react a certain way.

I feel in general, men -- when you watch TV and when you watch commercials -- are usually not portrayed as very smart. Guys with great drive are usually controlled by the woman. In fact, that’s what makes them funny or comedic, and people want that. You know what I’m talking about? When you watch commercials, you see the guy sitting down playing the PlayStation, drinking the beer, and the woman is actually the one doing all the smart things.

OK ... so you’re saying the representation of men on television is also off?

I think it’s a little bit of both. I just think -- then again, we’re all just portraying characters and real life should be guided by examples of what you learn at home.

And speaking of men on television, you portrayed Felix on “Cristela.” Many in the Latino community were very sad to hear that "Cristela" was canceled last month. What is your biggest takeaway from being a part of the show?

I think it was a great accomplishment no matter what. I think so many things were done with that show and through that show: breaking stereotypes and boxed-in rules. The fact that a Latino woman [Cristela Alonzo] could be a creator, writer, executive producer of the whole show -- it skipped a lot of steps, a lot of logistical steps. I think it’s amazing, the fact that you can have a Latino family on television, it’s certainly a move into the future.

I do think that we’re still a little bit under-represented, considering how much TV we watch and that we’re 20-something percent of the moviegoing business in America, yet we’re represented something like 4 percent. I think it’s still a work in progress. We need to do more. But I did take a lot from it. It was just a great show -- we were number one in our time slot. It’s just a matter of negotiations, the reason why it didn’t end up working out.

“Jane The Virgin” is another example of a show giving an authentic portrayal of Latinos in the U.S. But there are other Latino stories that need to be told.

Yeah, well, I love the particular feel of “Jane The Virgin.” I think it’s an amazing show. Also she is fantastic, Gina [Rodriguez of "Jane The Virgin"], and she’s a hope-maker for a lot of Latinoamericanas who are here and are looking to perhaps pursue a career in this. And I think it’s a fantastic show. I really hope that [“Cristela”] and “Jane The Virgin” and some other shows that have included some great non-stereotypical Latino actors are opening doors and we’ll get to see a lot out of that pretty soon.

And you’ve spent your entire career between English-language projects and Spanish-language projects. But after “Cristela” and “Spy,” do you think you’d like to focus more on your English-language career?

You know, I think I’m going to keep doing whatever I have been doing, which, basically, I let God take the lead. The projects that come my way -- I put them on a balance and look at how they affect my day-to-day. How will they affect my time with my kids who are still young and still want to hang out? Those are my priorities right now. I’m not seeking to establish a particular market, to me it’s more a per-project and whatever works out better for my personal life, and that’s how I choose projects. At least for now. Until my kids are old enough to do their own thing.

"Spy" opens nationwide on June 5.

Patrick Stewart Defends Northern Irish Bakery That Rejected 'Support Gay Marriage' Cake

"Star Trek" icon Patrick Stewart has come to the defense of Northern Ireland's Ashers Bakery, which was found guilty of discrimination last month after refusing to prepare a cake decorated with a same-sex marriage slogan.

The case made headlines in 2014 after Belfast-based activist Gareth Lee requested a cake featuring "Sesame Street" characters, along with the message, "Support Gay Marriage." Although the bakery's owners initially accepted the order, they called two days later to cancel it, citing their religious beliefs.

In response, Stewart called the Ashers case "a deliciously difficult" subject in an interview with BBC's Newsnight, adding that he "found himself on the side of the bakers" because nobody should be forced to write politically-relevant text that they didn't support.

"It was not because it was a gay couple that they objected. It was not because they were celebrating some sort of marriage or an agreement between them," Stewart is quoted as saying. "It was the actual words on the cake that they objected to, because they found them offensive."

He went on to note, "I would support their rights to say, 'No, this is personally offensive to my beliefs, I will not do it.'"

The remarks may come as a surprise to some fans of Stewart, who has previously spoken out in defense of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. In January, the actor said his background in theater made him a natural LGBT advocate.

“I think this is where the theater is such an appealing world, because it embraces everything and always has. So there was never a moment where I made an intellectual choice that I would be a supporter of gay civil rights," he said at the time. "It was always a natural and uncomplicated choice."

Update: Patrick Stewart has clarified his position on this issue via a statement posted to his Facebook page:

NBC Told Marta Kauffman That 'No One's Going To Watch A Show About People In Their 20s'

Showrunner Marta Kauffman had to deal with quite a few obstacles in creating "Friends" (including, but not limited to, misogyny). One of the comments she received from NBC early on nearly nixed the now iconic setup for the cast.

"We were told by the network, 'No one's going to watch a show about people in their 20s,'" she said. "[They said], 'You have to have an older person.'"

Of course, the show had nearly 25 million viewers in its first season. Though you, dear Internet, need no reminder of how beloved "Friends" was and always will be.

That concern from higher-ups was one of the reasons Kauffman almost had to bring in "Pat the Cop," aka, as moderator Ben Blacker put it, "America's favorite lost character."

As the lore would have it, Pat was suggested by one executive as an older figure who would provide the characters with relationship advice.

Kauffman was vehemently against bringing on Pat or a similar figure -- one of the other ideas was a "Coffee Joe" -- and insisted that she could make audiences care about such a young set of characters without a more mature presence.

"We kept saying, 'If the stories are universal enough, you don't need it.'" She eventually met executives' requests by bringing in Rachel Green's parents. (Later, Monica's and Ross' parents were also a big presence.)

"It felt more natural," Kauffman said. "That's how we decided to deal with the note. And this is what I always tell writers: you've gotta deal with the note somehow."

R.I.P. Pat the Cop. May you live on forever in "Friends" trivia posts.
