Winter Came And Brought 'Game Of Thrones' Its Most Mind-Blowing Battle

$

Don't get us wrong, in Sunday night's "Game of Thrones," the Battle of Hardhome was truly the most epic, mind-blowing battle sequence the series has ever seen. Yes, it was more shocking than the Battle of Castle Black, and yes, it was more heart-stopping than the Battle of Blackwater.

Here's everything that went down in Season 5, Episode 8, "Hardhome."

Winter came!
Where to begin? The last 40 minutes of the episode were spent at Hardhome, the free folk settlement where Jon, Tormund and some of the Night's Watch arrive to convince the Wildlings to side with them against the White Walkers. It happened to be perfect timing, since as soon as the boats were loaded up with Wildlings, the White Walkers suddenly appeared. Warning, this is not a drill: the White Walkers have arrived.

It was one of the most shocking, heart-racing battle sequences of the series, mainly since it was one without any forewarning, unlike Castle Black and Blackwater. While the full-episode devotion to Castle Black was one of the series' most fantastic feats, and "Blackwater" remains one of the most visually spectacular and harrowing episodes to date, "Hardhome" takes the top prize. The highlights:

Hundreds of Wights (literally) rained down on Hardhome.

One of the giants crushed the Wights and tossed them off his body like flies.

And the young ones were the scariest.

Oh, and Jon was inches from death until Longclaw, aka his Valyrian steel sword, saved the day.

Finally, Jon and his remaining men escaped. But then the Night's King made his second appearance. Remember him from Season 4's "Oathkeeper" (and when HBO accidentally spoiled his identity)? The horned Walker is known as the Night's King, and we first met him when he placed his finger on Craster's last born son.

Now he appeared more terrifying than ever, staring down Jon after the battle in one of the show's most chilling moments. As the Night's King raised his arms, he displayed his skill of bringing people back from the dead as the bodies behind him began to rise to life with piercing blue eyes. He was pretty much just saying, "Thanks, Jon, you just made my army even bigger!"

So what else happened in "Hardhome"?

Tyrion advises Dany
After telling Dany she can't successfully rule with a traitor (though a devoted one) like Jorah at her side, the Mother of Dragons once again kicks him out of Meereen. Tyrion continues to give Dany advice as the two share stories of their families' connections -- "Your brother who killed my father," she says to Tyrion of Jaime. Get ready, these two are about to take over the world!

Reek confessed to Sansa
Finally Sansa got some good news when Reek confessed the truth: that he didn't kill Bran and Rickon, but two nearby farm boys instead. Now she knows her brothers are alive out there somewhere. (Pray Ramsay doesn't find out).

Arya became someone else
No longer sweeping or washing dead bodies, Arya finally began her journey into becoming someone else. Meet Lanna, an orphan with an oyster cart. We finally see Arya's major makeover this episode as she trains to become Lanna and begins watching a gambler in Braavos.

Cersei's still in prison
Once the most conniving, powerful woman in King's Landing, Cersei is now losing her mind in a prison cell. After refusing to confess to her crimes of murder, incest and fornication, the Nun leaves Cersei to rot in her cell.

"Game of Thrones" airs on Sundays at 9:00 p.m. ET on HBO.

Robin Williams' Family Remain Divided Over Late Actor's Estate

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The family of the late Robin Williams is at odds over how to split the actor's estate after meeting with a mediator.

Court records show that the actor's widow, Susan Williams, and his three children remain divided over how much cash the widow should receive. The two sides have settled most of their differences over dividing the actor's personal effects.

A hearing has been scheduled for Monday in San Francisco Superior Court. The judge scheduled the hearing two months ago hoping the two sides would reach a complete settlement by Monday.

But after meeting with a mediator in April and dividing the "Mrs. Doubtfire" actor's personal effects, the two sides said they are still undecided over how much Susan Williams should receive over her lifetime.

Robin Williams hanged himself in August in the Tiburon home he shared with Susan Williams. Williams left most of his estate to his three children, including the proceeds from the sale of a Napa County home and property.

But Robin Williams did leave the Tiburon home to Susan Williams with instructions that she receive enough money to maintain it through her lifetime. Lawyers are still trying to determine how much money she should receive.

Neil Young Releases Anti-Starbucks, Anti-GMO Anthem 'A Rock Star Bucks A Coffee Shop'

Rocker Neil Young has released a new anthem about Starbucks, but don't expect to hear it at any of the company's coffee shops.

In the tune "A Rock Star Bucks A Coffee Shop," Young rips into Starbucks for its alleged support of genetically modified organisms, a.k.a. GMOs.

"I want a cup of coffee but I don't want a GMO," Young sings. "I'd like to start my day off without helping Monsanto."

The tune has Young's vintage sound, from his trademark distorted electric guitar to his distinctive voice, and the video shows him and the band tossing their coffee cups.

Check it out in the clip above.

The new song will be part of Young's upcoming concept album, "The Monsanto Years," which drops on June 30 and features Lukas and Micah Nelson, sons of country music legend Willie Nelson, as well as Lukas' band, Promise of the Real.

Young and the band performed an acoustic version of the title track at an event in Hawaii over Memorial Day weekend.

The Farm Aid co-founder has accused Starbucks of teaming up with Monsanto to try to derail a first-in-the-nation law in Vermont set to take effect next year that would require the labeling of products with genetically modified ingredients.

"Hiding behind the shadowy 'Grocery Manufacturers Association,' Starbucks is supporting a lawsuit that's aiming to block a landmark law that requires genetically-modified ingredients be labeled," Young wrote on his website last year. "Amazingly, it claims that the law is an assault on corporations' right to free speech."

Starbucks, which is an "affiliate member" of the GMA, has said it does not support the lawsuit and denies participating in it or aligning itself with Monsanto on the issue.

"Starbucks has not taken a position on the issue of GMO labeling," the company said in a statement released online. "As a company with stores and a product presence in every state, we prefer a national solution."

Tracy Morgan Cries In First TV Interview Since Crash On 'Today' Show

On Monday, Tracy Morgan made his first public appearance since the multi-car crash last June that left the actor critically injured.

Appearing on the "Today" show with attorney Benedict Morelli, Morgan told Matt Lauer, "I can’t believe I’m here." The former "SNL" cast member held his cane in his right hand during the interview, telling Lauer that he's been down since the accident, but his friends and family have kept his spirits up. "The case is settled, but the pain is always going to be there," he said.

Last June, a Walmart truck slammed into Morgan's limo van, severely injuring the "30 Rock" star and two friends in the car, and killing one of Morgan's comedy writers, James "Jimmy Mack" McNair. Morgan sustained brain trauma, a broken leg and broken ribs in the accident. Before Monday, he had yet to make any public appearances or give any interviews.

During the interview, Morgan began to cry when Lauer asked him about the crash. The actor said he doesn't remember the accident, only waking up from a coma two weeks later and learning that McNair had died. "He was a loving man and he was a warm man," Morgan said while crying. "He was a good man. It’s just hard for me to see that he’s gone." Morgan said that once he arrived home from the hospital, he watched the accident and McNair's funeral on YouTube. "I had to know what happened to my friend, I had to pay my respects," he said. "That was my way."

Lauer asked the actor about what injures he actually suffered, since following the accident various reports claimed different things. Morgan mentioned the scars on his face, saying he has good days and bad days where he forgets things. Morgan added that he still suffers from headaches and nose bleeds.

"Bones heal, but the loss of my friend will never heal," Morgan said. "I'm happy that Walmart stepped up to the plate. They took full responsibility."

The actor said that he loves comedy and can't wait to get back to it, but right now he's focusing on recovery. "My goal is just to heal and get better because I'm not 100 percent yet," he said. "I'll get back to making you laugh, I promise you."

Morgan's former "30 Rock" co-stars, Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin, honored the actor at "SNL 40" in February. Morgan had been unable to attend.

Earlier this week, Morgan settled his lawsuit against with Walmart, the details of the which remain confidential.

Amy Schumer And Tina Fey Kiss At The Peabody Awards

Tina Fey congratulated Amy Schumer with a kiss at the Peabody Awards Sunday night in New York City.

"Amy Schumer is killing it, as the agents like to say," Fey said on stage at Cipriani Wall Street before presenting Schumer with her award, per The Hollywood Reporter. "Usually they are lying. But in this case it is true. Amy is killing it. She is the biggest deal in comedy right now."

Schumer was the reason Fey was willing to trek down to Lower Manhattan on such a rainy night: "I really wanted to come down here tonight, and in a Madonna kind of way, try to like feed off of her youth and maybe suck her soul out in a very awkward, staged lesbian kiss. But when I pitched that idea to Amy's camp, they came back with such an immediate yes that it kind of grossed me out."

Although Fey joked that the kiss "didn't feel right" to do when giving out such a prestigious award, it happened anyway.

Schumer, whose "Inside Amy Schumer" premiered on Comedy Central in 2013, thanked the network, her crew and the University of Georgia in her acceptance speech, the New York Daily News noted.

"We thought we were making this secret feminist show and people weren't going to catch on what we were doing," the star said.

People have definitely caught on.

Shia LaBeouf wants you to just do it. No really, he seriously does.

After watching the minute-long video of LaBeouf standing in front of a green screen yelling at the camera to "just do it," you may have a few questions. Is LaBeouf the new face of Nike? Is he practicing for a graduation commencement speech? Is this more performance art?

Yes and no. The one-minute clip is a segment from "#INTRODUCTIONS," a larger half-hour project starring LaBeouf in 36 short films. From LaBeouf, Finnish artist Nastja Säde Rönkkö and British artist Luke Turner, the project introduces the work of the graduating class of the Fine Arts BA at Central Saint Martins, one of the U.K.’s leading arts schools. Students were invited to send pieces of text to introduce their work, which LaBeouf then performed.

You can see what's actually projected on the green screens for each segment in the school's live stream of the fine art grad show from May 26. Or just watch 64 seconds of LaBeouf screaming at you on loop, whatever gets you motivated.

Kim Kardashian Talks Pregnancy And Fertility Issues With Glamour

Two weeks before announcing that she's expecting her second child, Kim Kardashian spoke about pregnancy, fertility issues and the joys of motherhood during an interview with Glamour magazine.

"When I found out I was pregnant [with North], I was going through an awful divorce, Kanye and I had just been dating for seven months -- granted, we knew each other for a decade -- and I was like, 'I can’t do this. It’s not the right time,'" Kardashian told Glamour in the July 2015 issue. "But then I figured, If I’m in my thirties and I’m not ready, I’ll never be ready. So it’s been the biggest lesson, and the biggest joy of my life."

"North has taught me patience," she added. "There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for her. And nothing I wouldn’t do for my husband. She’s empowered us to want to be the best parents and the best spouses ... Today North put on these Manolo heels of mine and was walking perfectly around my closet. I sent Kanye a video of her; he was like, 'Tell her to stop! She cannot grow up, she cannot wear your heels.'"

On Sunday's episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," Kardashian announced she is pregnant with baby No. 2. The show has documented the 34-year-old's fertility struggles, something she's willing to share for those dealing with similar issues.

"It’s really rare. I didn’t know that I was going to be so open with [my fertility challenges]," she told Glamour. "But meeting people at my fertility doctor’s office who are going through the same things I’m going through, I thought, Why not share my story? It’s been really emotional. One doctor told me I would need my uterus removed after I had another baby -- I could only have one more. One was like, 'You should get a surrogate.' The other one was like, 'Oh, no, you’ll be fine.' Then I called my doctor, and he’s like, 'You know what? I believe -- we’ll get through it.' There are definitely times when I walked out [of the doctor’s office] hysterically crying, and other times when I was like, 'OK, everything’s looking good -- it’s going to be this month!' The waiting and waiting has been a roller coaster."

Moby Slams California Farmers Over Drought

$

California is now in the third year of its worst drought in over a millennium. Residents from Eureka to San Ysidro have responded by cutting back on their water usage in all sorts of ways, from removing their lawns to taking fewer showers.

Yet one prominent Californian who says he's done all this and more argues that even extreme residential cutbacks are unlikely to make a serious difference in the fight against water shortages. In an interview with Rolling Stone, musician Moby argued that only drastic changes to the state's agricultural system can do enough to address the crisis. He noted that 80 percent of California's fresh water -- not counting the portion dedicated to environmental uses -- goes to the state's farms, and only 20 percent goes to residential uses.

"Golf courses, grass lawns: they're definitely the low-hanging fruit in terms of things that could be addressed and dealt with to make California more water responsible," said the 49-year-old rocker, who recently moved from New York to Los Angeles because he thinks the latter has a more vibrant, experimental creative scene. "But compared to agriculture, everything else is literally just a drop in the bucket."

Moby, a vegan and outspoken advocate for animal rights, had particularly harsh words for California's meat and dairy industry.

"Animal products are just egregiously unsustainable, from a resource perspective," he told Rolling Stone. "It takes up to 500 pounds of grain to make one pound of beef. And it goes without saying that 500 pounds of grain is food that could be fed directly to people. It just doesn't make sense to funnel food resources through animals. It's a really irresponsible and inefficient way of using food resources."

Moby is far from the first person to blame California farmers for the state's water shortage. The Los Angeles Times and the New York Times, for example, both recently came out with eye-opening interactive articles illustrating the amount of water it takes to produce food in the state.

Nor is Moby the most knowledgable person to weigh in on the issues facing California, as he admits in the interview. He doesn't acknowledge, for example, just how difficult it would be for the state to strip farmers of their water rights against their will.

But he's also right, in a very fundamental way. Unless California gets several very wet years in a row, the state will have to cut back its water usage in a big way. And the only source plentiful and elastic enough to make up the shortfall is agriculture. Farmers have already started to take historic steps in the direction of conservation -- but going forward, they'll have to take more.

Leah Remini On One Of The Most 'Annoying' Things About 'The Talk'

$

In 2010, actress Leah Remini was cast as one of the original hosts of "The Talk" alongside Sharon Osbourne, Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Marissa Jaret Winokur and Holly Robinson Peete. Though the "King of Queens" actress says she was ready for a new challenge after nearly a decade of sitcom television, Remini tells "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" how frightening it was to put herself out there.

"Starting 'The Talk' was scary… the moment I walked out on the stage I was like, 'Oh, I don't want to say anything cause I really don't like to say things that piss people off,'" she shares.

Hosting a talk show turned out to be different than what she thought it would be. "You have to know what you're going to say, and especially dealing with celebrities, pain in the asses that we are, there are certain things publicists tell you: 'Don't talk about this. Don't talk about that.' And it's really quite annoying," Remini says.

Nevertheless, the show quickly gained a following and when Season 1 wrapped up, fans were surprised to learn that Remini and Peete were not asked to return. At the time, Remini took to Twitter to criticize Sharon Osbourne for her role in their dismissal, igniting a public feud between the two women.

"Sharon thought me and Holly were 'ghetto'…we were not funny, awkward and didn't know ourselves…" Remini tweeted.

"…my only wish is that Leah would just stop all this negative, unprofessional and childish behavior…it's time to move on." Osbourne fired back.

Now that some time has passed, Remini is no longer interested in playing the blame game. "When you look back on situations, you have to look back on maybe what you did that contributed to it," she says. "Certainly there were things on the other side that contributed to it. But to come off as a victim is just not something that I want to do."

The Fat Jew Tried To Wear Assless Chaps To A Black Tie Event

Forget Kim Kardashian West. The real star of the CFDA Awards on Monday night was Josh Ostrovsky, aka "The Fat Jew." The social media sensation arrived at fashion's biggest night in arguably the best outfit of the evening: a mesh top under a seersucker shorts suit and of course, a full bottle of White Girl Rosé.

We chatted with the Instagram star about fashion, and let's just say, we LOLed through the entire interview.

Tell us about your outfit?

I was going for extra slutty male Lena Dunham. That's the look that I'm trying to cultivate. We were going back and forth because I think [the event organizers] know that I like to wear wild outfits, so they wanted to pre-approve my outfit and they were like, well it's black tie. I wanted to wear just a bow tie and assless leather chaps -- black chaps -- and they were like, "Maybe not." I guess assless chaps are not considered black tie, even if they are black.

What is one piece of style advice you would like to disseminate to everyone at the CFDAs?

You have to give zero fucks. Honestly, looking not great is the new looking great. I guess my body is kind of Shrek-like -- you know how dad bod is hot right now and stuff like that? Like dick lines, like the deep lines, they're out. Like I want to have sex with someone who eats a lot of calzones very early in the day. People need to stop caring, like, chug a bottle of rosé and whatever. That being said, everyone here is better looking than me. I would literally have sex with every person here.

Who is your favorite fashion designer?

I obviously have a lot of love for '90s jean designer Karl Kani, although I think he is out of business, so I will go with the cutest, most delicate designer I can think of, who is Alexander Wang. Like, I want to wear him in a Baby Bjorn. I would bring him as my carry-on, on a plane -- I would put him in an overhead. All his stuff is beautiful and how cute is that dude? It's crazy. Cheekbones for miles.

The whole world was talking about Caitlyn Jenner's gorgeous Vanity Fair cover on Monday, but Rob Kardashian did not recognize his stepparent when he saw her.

Kim Kardashian spoke to "Access Hollywood" on the red carpet at the CFDA Fashion Awards Monday night and talked about Jenner's cover debut.

"It's so funny because, all the girls, we knew that Caitlyn was shooting this, but my brother had no idea," she said. "So I sent it on a mass text to everyone and my brother was on it and he said, 'Kim, why are you sending me this? Who is this woman? And why do I care?' And I was like, 'Rob! That's Bruce! That's Caitlyn!' ... And he was like, 'Oh my God, she's beautiful!' And then he called her and they had a love fest and it was so cute. But the moment was so funny."

While Rob Kardashian has yet to publicly comment on Jenner's Vanity Fair profile, the rest of her family has offered tons of love and support on Twitter and Instagram after the reveal.

Melissa McCarthy Playing 'Random Picture Word Association' Might Make Her Husband Nervous

It's hard not to be a fan of everything Melissa McCarthy does, but her husband might want to skip out on this segment.

While playing "Random Picture Word Association" with Jimmy Fallon, a game where you blurt out a word to match whatever picture pops up, McCarthy's answers seemed to have a theme. After getting a picture of Fabio, the actress calmly said, "Husband number two," and then, after a picture of a young, mustached Fallon came up, the actress yelled, "Husband number three."

"Sorry, Ben!" said McCarthy to her real husband Ben Falcone. The couple has been pretty open about how great their marriage is in the past, so actually Falcone probably shouldn't be too worried. Plus, the last joke about Mitt Romney is definitely worth sitting though some photos of Fabio and Fallon with a wispy mustache.

Kim Kardashian had a pretty good Monday, as far as Mondays go.

She got to bask in the glow of sharing the good news that she's pregnant with baby No. 2, and supporting her stepparent, Caitlyn Jenner, as she introduced herself to the world with a Vanity Fair cover story.

Kardashian also went shopping for baby clothes before getting her glam on in a sheer black dress for the 2015 CFDA Awards, where she presented Instagram founder Kevin Systrom with the CFDA Media Award. Later, she dined with Pharrell Williams, Helen Lasichanh and Kanye West.

That's when her Monday took a turn for the unexpected. In an Instagram photo, the 34-year-old shared on Tuesday morning, she revealed that her dress caught fire while at dinner.

Iggy Azalea Canceled 'Great Escape' Tour So She Can 'Start Totally Anew'

Iggy Azalea has had a change of heart.

The Billboard chart-topping artist canceled her upcoming "Great Escape" tour on Friday, May 29. Fans who purchased tickets were informed in an email that all the dates of the tour had been canceled, and Azalea soon after tweeted an apology to her fans. But they still weren't given a reason, until now.

The "Fancy" rapper told Seventeen magazine that she's had a "different creative change of heart" and wants to "start totally anew." The tour was originally slated to kick off this spring. In March, Azalea's label, Def Jam, announced that it would be pushed back to September. While the entire tour has now been canceled, Azalea is still performing in a select few cities.

Azalea told Seventeen that going through with the tour would've held her back from improving her sound and visuals. "I am a musician and a creative person and I want to be able to perform new stuff and do new things," she said. "I feel like I'm at the end of an era now."

But Azalea also said she wants a break for herself. "On top of that, mentally," she told the magazine, "I just feel I deserve a break. I've been going non-stop for the past two years, nearly every single day." She assured fans that she's not sad or in a bad place, though.

The "Pretty Girls" rapper also apologized to her fans again, saying that canceling the tour isn't a sign of her failing or giving up. "It was a tough decision to make, but it was the best thing," she said.

For more, head to Seventeen.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Tells Young Women: 'Fight For The Things You Care About'

“We are here today to honor how one person -- our honoree, Ruth Bader Ginsburg -- knocked on closed doors, opened them and held them open for others.”

That's how the Dean of Harvard's Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Lizabeth Cohen, introduced Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg at a luncheon at Harvard University on May 29. Ginsburg, who was given the Radcliffe Medal, took the stage and had some powerful advice for the young women in the crowd.

“Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you," the 82-year-old said, in response to a question regarding the advice she would give young women today.

Ginsburg reflected on landmark women's rights cases that she worked on when she first became a Justice in the 1970s. "The object was to get at a stereotype that held women back from doing whatever their talent would allow them to do," she said. "The notion was that there were separate spheres for the sexes. Men were the doers in the world and women were the stay-at-home types."

She later added that now is a better time than any for women to go after what they want. "Young women today have a great advantage, and it is that there are no more closed doors," Ginsburg said. "That was basically what the '70s was all about. Opening doors that had been closed to women."

Thanks for holding those doors open, RBG.

Why You'll No Longer Find The Word 'Skinny' On Lauren Conrad's Site

$

Lauren Conrad is banning words from her site -- and it's all in the name of body positivity.

Conrad's lifestyle site covers a variety of topics including healthy eating and fitness. The fashion designer and her team have realized that the terminology they use in their posts about exercise and health isn't exactly positive when it comes to body image. A new post titled "Letter from Lauren: June Shake Up" revealed that the editorial team will soon say goodbye to terms focused on shapes and sizes:

When we’ve talked about getting in shape in the past, words like "skinny," "slim," and "thin" have often come up. Starting this month, we’ll be banning any body shaming terms from the site, and replacing them with words like "fit," "toned," and "healthy." We try do to [sic] this for the most part anyway, but now we’re making it official! The word skinny will now be reserved for skinny jeans. My editorial team and I had a long talk about it, and we want to make sure that the focus is on being fit as opposed to a number on the scale. Every body is created differently -- and healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes.

It's important to note that many women's bodies are naturally thin or slim, but moving the aspirational quality from the words is a positive step. If people are making an effort to make healthy decisions, being skinny, slim or any other shape or size shouldn't matter.

After hearing the news, women expressed their support on Twitter.

For something as simple as replacing a few words, Conrad's move is definitely a step in the right direction when it comes to promoting positive body image.

Goldie Hawn Says Aging Is All About Perspective

Goldie Hawn is taking aging in stride, the actress said in a recent interview with Porter Magazine. The 69-year-old grandmother of five says aging successfully is all about your perspective.

"It's all about how you make it. It's all in your mind," Hawn said. "It's wonderful to know you're aging, because that means you're still on the planet, right?"

Hawn was at the center of a media maelstrom after last year's Academy Awards (along with Kim Novak), when her appearance left people speculating that she'd had some work done. Hawn remained mum on the topic, and has always insisted that regular exercise and mindfulness meditation are her keys to aging gracefully.

Perhaps it's meditation that gives her the right perspective on aging. "Getting older is a fact of life," she said. "By living mindfully you understand that there are many transitions in life. You just go through them."

It's that same attitude she attributes to the success of her 32-year-strong relationship with actor Kurt Russell. "Intention is the key," Hawn says, adding, "It's also about not losing yourself in each other. Being together, two pillars holding up the house and the roof, and being different, not having to agree on everything, learning how to deal with not agreeing."

Wise words.

Here's Paul Krugman As An 8-Bit Video Game Character

NEW YORK -- Paul Krugman is a combative guy.

The Nobel Prize-winning New York Times columnist routinely challenges a vast array of intellectual opponents -- journalists, economists, political leaders -- on the future of the economy and politics, focusing in recent years on austerity measures that cut government spending.

Not unlike the battle-hardened Mario Brothers or the Zelda franchise’s sword-slinging hero Link, Krugman is “always quarreling” with different adversaries, Bloomberg Markets executive editor Ron Henkoff told The Huffington Post on Tuesday.

So when magazine editors decided to include Krugman in its upcoming rivalry-themed issue, they illustrated him as an 8-bit character from a 1980s video game.

“It seemed like a natural way to do it, like a vintage video game where you have a protagonist battling all these enemies, and just bashing them,” Henkoff said. “In the end -- and I don’t want to give too much away -- he declares himself the winner.”

Pixelated Krugman is only an illustration -- not part of a playable game, Henkoff said. Scottish artist Walter Newton designed the graphic.

The cheeky imagery is a relatively new move for Bloomberg Markets, usually among the more staid publications in Bloomberg LLC’s growing stable of media properties. The graphic feels more in line with its sister title Bloomberg Businessweek’s edgy artistic direction. But the company is shifting toward a more general interest media strategy. So, Siung Tjia, Bloomberg Markets’ creative director of four years, has been encouraged to experiment.

“We looked at new ways we could approach the journalism that we approach, which is serious and important, but can also be conveyed in a way that’s engaging and entertaining,” Henkoff said.

The issue, which goes to print at the end of next week, will hit newsstands on June 22.

The real Krugman did not respond to a request for comment.
