Kim Kardashian's Met Gala 2015 Dress Was Very Similar To One That Beyoncé Wore

In outfit repeat news, it looks like Kim Kardashian wore a very familiar dress to the 2015 Met Gala.

The white and gold masterpiece by Peter Dundas for Roberto Cavalli resembles Beyoncé's black Givenchy gown from the 2012 Met Gala. Both are sheer, lacy and trimmed with feathers -- and the different color schemes, but similar styles could lead to round two of #TheDress controversy.

But, before we rehash that debate, take a look at Kim K. and Bey looking damn good, no matter what the year.

Imitation is the best form of flattery anyway ... right?

In news that is surprising to no one, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend wowed on the red carpet at the Met Gala 2015. The theme of the night was "Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film, and Fashion," but the husband and wife kept it chic and simple in a black gown on her, and a black and white tuxedo on the Grammy Award-winning singer.

Teigen's backless dress was bespoke, created for her by St. John Knits. Her dapper husband opted for a tuxedo by Gucci.

Rihanna lived up to her "Fashion Icon" status Monday night while attending the 2015 Met Gala.

The mega star wowed in a yellow look that can be described in two words: gorgeous and gigantic. In keeping with the evening's theme of "Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film, and Fashion," RiRi opted for the show-stopping couture look by Chinese designer Guo Pei, complete with a golden headpiece. Not only does the design boast intricate embroidery and fur, but it has one of the longest trains we've ever seen. We caught a glimpse of what looks to be a pink dress under the yellow coat, but leave it to Rihanna to keep us guessing.

When a celeb rocks such an over-the-top look it's no surprise that memes will follow. Here are just a few of the things that folks are already comparing Rihanna's dress to:

Nevertheless, most of Hollywood was on hand for the annual event and Rihanna still managed to steal the show! What do you think of her look?

Jennifer Lopez never ceases to amaze us, and her look at the 2015 Met Gala was no different. The singer stunned on the red carpet in a gown with very strategically placed embroidery.

The Versace gown was daring, to say the least. But Lopez wasn't alone in showing off some skin on the red carpet. Kim Kardashian's Roberto Cavalli gown and Beyoncé's barely-there look were equally as risqué. What do you think?

Beyoncé's Met Gala 2015 Dress Is Barely There

Our hearts started racing the very second this sketch of Beyoncé's rumored Met Gala 2015 dress surfaced on Twitter. It was more than we could ever imagine for the fabulous fête. Then the moment we had been waiting for finally arrived.

Queen Bey teased her look on Instagram before hitting the red carpet and there's very little that she left to the imagination.

The see-through dress is embellished with sequins and glittering rhinestones in all the right places. Nude ankle-strapped pumps and a high ponytail make the entertainer appear 10 feet tall.

Sorry, Kim Kardashian but Beyoncé wins the sheer style game.

Ryan Gosling Eats His Cereal As A Touching Tribute To Meme's Creator

Ryan Gosling has finally eaten his cereal.

The actor posted a Vine clip of himself pouring a bowl of cereal and eating it. Gosling pauses briefly to raise his spoon, a silent tribute to Ryan McHenry, the Scottish filmmaker and creator of the "Ryan Gosling Won't Eat His Cereal" meme who died on Sunday.

McHenry, who had bone cancer, was 27.

The meme McHenry created in 2013 features himself offering a spoonful of cereal to video clips of Gosling from his various movies, timed in such a way to make it appear as if the actor was refusing the breakfast treat.

The clips went viral, but shortly afterward McHenry noticed a painful bump in his leg that was later diagnosed as osteosarcoma. He said the popularity of the meme helped him to stay positive as he fought the disease.

"A lot of my positivity has come down to knowing that I’ve got a small audience out there," he told the Verge in 2013. "I kind of feel like I need to be positive for them. If I was on my Twitter or on my Vine being really negative, like ‘this is the worst thing ever, this is horrible,’ it just wouldn’t be nice for people to hear."

Last month, Gosling told fans on Twitter that he actually loves cereal, prompting a joking apology from McHenry on Twitter:

Gosling's joking response:

It was a moment made for one last McHenry meme:

Along with the Vine of himself eating cereal, Gosling sent out a message of sympathy via Twitter:

For those who took joy in McHenry's clips and wish to contribute, a campaign has been launched in his name to raise money for Sarcoma UK, a British charity that aims to "increase knowledge and awareness of sarcoma through ground-breaking programmes to transform the landscape for everyone affected by sarcoma."

Jane Seymour is seeing someone new, but she likely won't be walking down the aisle any time soon -- or ever.

The former "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman" actress recently told FOX411 that she's content just dating in the wake of her divorce after more than two decades of marriage.

"I don’t know if I need to get married again," she said. "There is someone in my life right now who I’m really enjoying. No one knows who it is, just a nice, normal, lovely person that I met actually about 34 years ago. A similar thing happened to him as me and we just found each other. For right now this is very good."

The 64-year-old actress also admitted that splitting from now ex-husband James Keach in April 2013 has been "really, really, really hard."

"It really has [but] James and I have found a way to have a new relationship, and move on so that’s what we’re doing," Seymour said, adding that the pair will continue to work together at their Open Hearts Foundation.

"We look at the bigger picture," she said. "My mom always said to me, 'There are always people worse off than you so however much you feel you’re hurting or going through a tough time, keeping it inside yourself and holding on to it is not going to help you. If you can accept what has happened, however dire, open your heart and reach out to help someone else. You are able to heal."

The former couple are also focusing on their twin sons, John and Kristopher. In an interview with HuffPost Live in December, Seymour said she and Keach will always be family for the sake of the boys.

"We realize the marriage may not be intact, but the family is intact and always will be," she said. "We'll always care for one another and care about one another. That doesn't change."

Why Zooey Deschanel Won't Be Posing For Any 'Body After Baby' Photos

Actress and mom-to-be Zooey Deschanel will appear on the cover of Cosmopolitan's June issue, which hits newsstands next week. In her interview with the magazine, she talks about career success, women in television and the #AskHerMore Twitter campaign.

zooey deschanel

And perhaps most notably, the expectant mom discussed why she will not be posing for any "body after baby" tabloid photos once she's given birth.

“Haven’t we all seen those pictures of a sexy new mom in a bikini after one month?" she said in the interview. "I will not be that person. I’ve always gone my own course and never been someone who had the need to be super skinny. I like a healthy look. I don’t buy into that skinny-is-better mentality. I just eat healthy and work out and don’t worry about my weight too much. Actresses aren’t models, and most of them never wanted to be.”

In the interview, Deschanel also expressed her support for the #AskHerMore campaign, which took hold this past awards season. "I'm all for people asking actresses more intelligent questions. Just because you're wearing a nice dress doesn't mean you don't have any ideas," she said. "It's a shame to reduce smart, talented women to clothes models. But you can be a feminist and femmy. I don't see how those things contradict each other."

Couldn't agree more.

Tiger Woods Says He Hasn't Slept Since Breakup With Lindsey Vonn

Tiger Woods shared a rare personal confession Tuesday, saying he hadn't slept since his breakup with skier Lindsey Vonn, several outlets reported.

"It obviously does affect me," he told reporters ahead of The Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. "It is tough, there's no doubt. I'm not gonna lie about that."

Woods said the double-whammy of the split, which he and Vonn announced publicly Sunday, and the nine-year anniversary of his father's death on the same day proved daunting.

"I haven't slept," he said in the interview, via Golf Channel. "And obviously with what happened on Sunday, it just adds to it." (Woods' words about his personal life begin at about the 13:00 mark.)

Woods and Vonn, who confirmed their relationship in March 2013, attributed the parting to hectic schedules.

Madonna Gives Hilariously Honest Response To A Reporter At The Met Gala

Many things have been said about Madonna over the course of her 30-plus years in the spotlight, but according to one very honest comment she made at the 2015 Met Gala, one thing you can't call her is a liar.

Madge arrived on the red carpet Monday night looking gorgeous in head-to-toe Moschino and, naturally, Diplo on her arm. She didn't shy away from chatting with reporters, whose questions covered everything from her outfit to her favorite thing about China, playing to the evening's theme of "Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film, and Fashion."

What ensued was hilariously honest, and only kind of reminds us of our Sunday evening dinner plans:

Lily Tomlin And Jane Fonda Break Down Myths About Feminism Like The Bosses They Are

$
0
0
“One of the tenets of feminism is that we shouldn’t give up who we are, or feel that in order to be OK in life, we have to be attached to a certain kind of man. I can say that because that was how I lived for a long time,” Jane Fonda told The Huffington Post on Thursday in Los Angeles. “Oh my god, if I’m not married to some alpha male, then I’m not valid.”

Fonda’s longtime friend and co-star on Netflix’s upcoming “Grace and Frankie,” Lily Tomlin, jumped in. “You can be committed in a marriage or to a person, but you have to have enough of your own freedom that you can step away and save yourself,” she said.

At its simplest, feminism is the belief in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes. It's also a politically-charged word, one that during the early 2000s, took on a negative connotation in certain contexts. It was seen in some circles as an insult, and many women shied away from identifying with it publicly, for fear of seeming too "aggressive."

Today, as the conversation around gender equality, reproductive rights and equal pay has been reignited in earnest, these fears are melting away. Fast. (See Beyonce, Sheryl Sandberg, John Legend and Amy Schumer, who have all embraced the term over the past few years.) Fonda and Tomlin, who have long identified as feminists, seemed eager to set the record straight about the real meaning of the word.

“Feminism doesn’t mean that you’re against men or that you’re some angry bra-burner. In fact, I don’t think they really did burn bras,” Fonda said. (Pro tip: that whole "burning bras" thing is indeed a myth.) “Feminism is nothing less than saying I want to be a whole human being with equal rights and equal opportunities,” she continued.

“And you want it to be about men as well,” Tomlin added. “It should be about the whole species.”

grace and frankie

Sitting side by side in chairs at the London Hotel in West Hollywood, Fonda turned to Tomlin: ”Most of our male friends are feminists, right?” she asked, and then paused, adding, “Well, not my ex-husbands." Tomlin threw her head back with laughter.

Fonda and Tomlin, who are 77 and 75 respectively, say they feel lucky to star in a show with roles written specifically for them -- especially since leading roles for older women are sadly few and far between.

In "Grace And Frankie," Fonda and Tomlin play two women whose longtime husbands announce they want divorces in order to get remarried -- to each other. The two women’s lives are turned upside down, and despite their many differences, they end up supporting each other in unexpected ways.

grace and frankie

Fonda said her character, Grace, is a woman who is defined by externals, like being married to the right man and playing golf, a sport Frankie (played by Tomlin) knows Grace hates.

“Frankie is the person who begins to teach me to be who I really am. To stop lying about who I am in order to try to keep a guy,” Fonda said. “That’s an important issue for women. I’m not the only one who has tied myself in pretzels to try and keep a man.”

They also touched on the importance of female friendship, a theme that comes up often in "Grace and Frankie."

“A lot of women have no idea how important their friendships are,” Tomlin said.

“The fact is, women much more than men can have extremely intense and profound relationships. The older you get, the more you realize it,” Fonda added.

Tomlin said she remembers a time when it was common for women to not earn their own wages: “My own mother didn’t work until I was about 12 years old and she went to work as a nurse’s aid in the hospital. Before that, my dad would dole out about $40 a week from his paycheck.”

Pointing out that there are still women who don’t earn their own money, Tomlin said, “I think you have to pay wives who stay home and are homemakers. It’s a big heavy job to do that.”

Fonda agreed. “People should be paid for doing work like that. And all of us should encourage our daughters to be capable of earning their own money. Because you never know what can happen. All females should grow up with job skills.”

grace and frankie

Watching Fonda and Tomlin interact, it's clear that their connection runs deep. They're a natural comedy duo, too. They are longtime friends who support one another’s social causes and finish each other's sentences. And when it comes to feminism and female empowerment, their beliefs also line up.

The prospect of Hillary Clinton becoming the United States' first female president brought smiles to both of their faces.

“We both think that it’s perfectly possible and maybe even probable. Although it’s not good to make it look like it’s inevitable,” Fonda said of Clinton.

“I think we are all going to have to work hard and make sure we show up and vote. But it would sure be good. Maybe that would lead to equal pay -- wouldn’t that be nice? It’s about time.”

“Grace and Frankie" airs May 8 on Netflix.

Saturday’s Mayweather-Pacquiao boxing match prompted mixed reactions to Mayweather's victory. It also spawned criticism from viewers who blasted singer Jamie Foxx over his performance of the national anthem before the fight began.

During an appearance on Tuesday’s episode of “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” the comedian-actor opened up on his much talked about rendition. Although the singer may have blamed some things "on the alcohol," his mishap on Saturday night wasn't among them.

“I sung the national anthem, now some people were a little upset by how it went down,” Foxx explained to DeGeneres. “But here’s the thing…what happened in the ring, my inner ears were out and I’m singing with an organ so I can’t hear what the organ is doing with the big crowd. So, some of it was a little off. But I think in the arena it killed. The telecast, it was a little off, but we still love America.”

Immediately following his performance, many took to Twitter to critique Foxx for his revamped performance.

Mara Wilson's Important Message For Teens Living With Mental Illness

$

Looking back on her experience with mental health issues, Mara Wilson wishes someone had told her that being depressed and having anxiety was OK. Since no one did that for her growing up, she’s taking the opportunity to tell young people now.

The former child actress and current writer teamed up with Project UROK, a nonprofit organization devoted to helping teens with mental illness. In a video, she opens up about the mental issues she’s had over the years including anxiety, depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

“I was an anxious kid, and I’m still kind of an anxious adult,” she said.

In order to destigmatize mental illness for the 20 percent of people ages 13 to 18 who live with a mental health condition, Project UROK creates videos that feature people who have personally experienced it. Some of them share what they wish they knew as they grew up with these conditions. Wilson would have appreciated someone telling her that having anxiety or other mental health issues was OK.

“I wish somebody had told me that it’s OK to be anxious -- that you don’t have to fight it, that in fact fighting it is this thing that makes it worse, that pushing it away is really what it is,” she said. “It’s the fear of fear.”

Wilson closed her video with some comments on isolation, an effect of mental illness that Project UROK wants to help teens overcome. Whether they’re living with depression, an eating disorder or any other mental health condition, Wilson wants teens to know they’re not alone.

“I think that that’s something to keep in mind that, you know, you are not the only one who has this. Other people can and have fought these battles before. So the important thing to remember is that you are not alone, and you are OK.”

Mindy Kaling Announces 'Why Not Me?' Release Date

Because nobody is hanging out without her these days, Mindy Kaling has announced the release date of her second book, "Why Not Me?" Due out Sept. 9, it's currently available for preorder. According to her site, the memoir will be another collection of essays "that are as hilarious and insightful as they are deeply personal."

She originally announced the book news at last year's SXSW and explained its title in an interview with the LA Times. "[Why not me?] has kind of been my subconscious motto my whole life. So much has happened between the time I published my first book and now. The show; my mother passed away; so many of my friends have gotten married. I'm a godmother now and a homeowner. There's so much that has happened in that period of time that I wanted to write another book."

The book's description now reads:

Kaling shares her ongoing journey to find contentment and excitement in her adult life, whether it’s falling in love at work, seeking new friendships in lonely places, attempting to be the first person in history to lose weight without any behavior modification whatsoever, or most important, believing that you have a place in Hollywood when you’re constantly reminded that no one looks like you.

[...]

Mindy turns the anxieties, the glamour, and the celebrations of her second coming-of-age into a laugh-out-loud funny collection of essays that anyone who’s ever been at a turning point in their life or career can relate to. And those who’ve never been at a turning point can skip to the parts where she talks about meeting Bradley Cooper.

Her first book "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)" debuted in 2011 as a best-seller, and garnered adoring reviews. A memoir, it was filled with childhood stories, style advice and career lessons from her time working on "The Office."

Offerman shares a shower thought.

Pregnant Marisa Miller Goes Nude For PETA To Protest SeaWorld

Marisa Miller put herself in the position of captive orca whales in a PETA campaign protesting SeaWorld.

The supermodel, who is pregnant with her second child, posed nude in an empty bathtub to bring awareness to mother orcas who are separated from their calves, which are taken to separate parks and ultimately confined to tanks.

"Being a mom and seeing [the SeaWorld-critical documentary] 'Blackfish,' it was extremely emotional," Miller said. "I think any mother knows the sense of protection and connection you have with your baby."

marisa miller

The title on the ad featuring the former Victoria's Secret model and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover girl reads, "SeaWorld: Separating Babies and Mothers Since 1970."

John Hargrove, who spent most of his 14-year career as an orca trainer at SeaWorld, opened up earlier this year about this practice and other grievances during an interview with NPR while promoting his book, Beneath the Surface: Killer Whales, SeaWorld, and the Truth Beyond Blackfish.

"As I became higher-ranked, I saw the devastating effects of captivity on these whales and it just really became a moral and ethical issue," he said. "When you first start to see it, you first try to say, 'OK, well, I love these animals; I'm going to take care of them.' ... You think, 'I can change things.' And then all these things, of course, never improve and then you start ... seeing mothers separated from their calves; you start seeing trainers being killed, and then they blame [the trainers] for their own deaths."

SeaWorld responded in a statement to NPR, saying: "We've never moved a calf from a mom. ... A calf is an animal young enough who is still dependent on the mom, still nursing with the mom, and still requires the mom's leadership ... We think they're probably dependent [at] 4 to 5 years. After that, they start to gain their independence."

However, the Dodo noted there has been evidence of SeaWorld separating mothers and calves before an age of independence.

A SeaWorld spokesperson told HuffPost in an email: "Contrary to what you see in PETA’s campaign, SeaWorld understands the importance of keeping killer whale mothers and their dependent calves together. Mothers provide support and nutrition and we do not and would not interfere with that, unless the mother or calf’s life was in danger."

The spokesperson said "facts on this issue" and information about SeaWorld's animal care are available on its website.

Olly From 'Game Of Thrones' Is Just As Good At Singing As He Is With A Bow And Arrow

It's no news that the cast of "Game of Thrones" is full of actors with a range of talents. Jerome Flynn, who plays Bronn, used to be a British pop star, Grey Worm spends his time off set making music as Raleigh Ritchie and Tywin Lannister once showed off his dance moves in drag. But the Seven Kingdoms also has another talented crooner.

Turns out Olly, Jon Snow's adorable young steward who (sadly) killed Ygritte last season, is as good at singing as he is with his aim. The 15-year-old Brenock O’Connor, who plays Olly, has a handful of cover videos on his personal YouTube channel. Vanity Fair recently uncovered the young star's videos, including O'Connor's amazing covers of Adele's "Rolling In the Deep," Magic!'s "Rude" and Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine," among others.

We approve Olly, we approve.

‘OITNB' Star Dascha Polanco Opens Up About Battling Depression As A Latina

$

The hit Netflix show "Orange Is The New Black” has tackled a lot of issues during its two seasons, but one of its stars opened up recently about a personal struggle she has faced in her own life.

Dascha Polanco, who plays Dayanara (Daya) Diaz on the show, spoke candidly in a recent interview with Latina magazine about her battle with depression after her mother's death and the struggles she faced getting help.

“Mental health is a big issue and I think it’s ignored a lot in the Latino community,” the 31-year-old star told the magazine, which will feature her on the cover of its June/July issue. “It’s very interesting, the times I’ve felt that I can’t breathe emotionally, and I react to things in a very impulsive manner – where it’s anger or crying. And being able to speak to somebody about that was kind of a revelation that it was okay for me to feel depressed.”

A cultural stigma surrounding mental health issues is one obstacle for Latinos who want to seek help. CNN reported in 2013 that according to the American Psychiatric Association’s Office of Minority and National Affairs, fewer than 1 in 11 Latinos with a mental disorder contact a mental health specialist about the issue. Fewer than 1 in 5 contact a general health care provider.

Polanco also spoke to Latina about overcoming her issues with body image and how she is “breaking the mold” in Hollywood.

“I’m still very insecure bodywise, and I’m working on it, but I’m also confident, because I feel like I’m not going to let anybody knock me down,” she said.

The actress expressed a similar sentiment in a March interview with VH1.com, when she reflected on how she’s changed the way she views her body.

“I tweeted a quote the other day [about] my whole life, my appearance, and not looking like what was depicted and accepted,” Polanco told the site. “I realized that it’s not about how I look outside; it’s about how I feel about my differences inside, and how a difference can be so beautiful. There are women who are born with more volume than others, but that difference is what intrigues [others] and allows you to have uniqueness that you should use positively. It’s time for us to really evaluate [ourselves] in the mirror and say, 'This is OK. I can too bring out any quality. I can too be on the cover of any magazine, just the way I am.'"

Take a look at Polanco just the way she is in her first magazine cover below, and click over to Latina to read her whole interview.
