The 9 Best Things That Happened When YouTube Stars Interviewed President Obama

$

Most reporters don't have millions of YouTube subscribers or the ability to make a 60-second video go instantly viral, but then again, today's interview with President Obama wasn't your typical Q&A -- which is precisely why it was a game changer.

In a major win for political youth engagement, three of YouTube's most popular stars sat down with POTUS himself Thursday in a livestream where they asked him questions amassed through their followers using the hashtag #YouTubeAsksObama.

Vlogger Hank Green was up first, asking the president about drone technology, North Korea and marijuana legalization. Next, GloZell spoke up about police brutality and same-sex marriage, while 19-year-old Bethany Mota concluded the session by touching upon cyberbullying and the power of young voices.

But perhaps more important than the topics discussed, the livestream made teens feel like actual political participants and part of the conversation. Ground-breaking, indeed.

Below, we've rounded up the best, most magical moments from the livestream.

1. When Hank looked extra dapper in a blue button-down and tie.
Outfit game = strong.

2. When POTUS used a copy of "The Fault in Our Stars" to sign Hank's prescription receipt.
NBD.

3. When GloZell asked POTUS how we can bridge the gap between African American males and white cops.
All the claps.

4. When GloZell hilariously referred to FLOTUS as the "First Wife" by accident.
No worries, Glo. We know what you meant.

5. When GloZell brought green lipstick for Obama to give to FLOTUS, Malia and Sasha.
Because she's super awesome/thoughtful like that.

6. Bethany's adorable interview set-up, which included cut-out stars, owls and a photo of her niece.
Stop being so cute, Beth.

7. When POTUS said this:
Real talk.

8. When POTUS revealed what super power he would have.
"The flying thing seems pretty cool, right?" He'd also love to be able to speak any language.

9. And when they all took a group selfie at the end.
I.C.O.N.I.C.

Fast food chain Carl's Jr. has debuted its annual Super Bowl commercial, and it's every bit as sexy as you've come to expect. Model Charlotte McKinney, whom Fox News dubbed "The Next Kate Upton," stars in the new commercial, which USA Today says will only be seen in Western states come Feb. 1.

As previously reported by HuffPost, Carl's Jr. introduces "fast food's first All-Natural Burger with grass-fed, free-range beef that has no added hormones, steroids, or antibiotics," in an effort to target millennials.

A bikini'd blonde who loves going "all natural"? Millennials could get on board with that.

The commercial might be deemed NSFW by some:

In previous years, Kate Upton, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian, among others, have starred in commercials for Carl's Jr.

Seth Rogen Sorry If 'American Sniper' Comments Offended Anyone

Seth Rogen has provided further context and explanation for a joke he made about "American Sniper."

"I truly hope this clears things up," Rogen wrote in a tweet on Thursday, before linking to a screenshot of text that included an apology to anyone who was offended.

On Sunday, Rogen tweeted that "American Sniper," Clint Eastwood's film about Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, reminded him of "Nation's Pride," a fake Nazi propaganda film found in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds." After the comment was picked up by numerous news outlets, Rogen clarified that he wasn't comparing the two films, but merely making an observation.

In the wake of the joke, Rogen was slammed by various public figures.

"You are fortunate to enjoy the privilege and freedom of working in and living in the United States, and saying whatever you want (regardless of how ignorant the statement) thanks to people like Chris Kyle who serve in the United States military. Your statement is inaccurate and insensitive to Chris and his family," country singer Craig Morgan wrote on Facebook. "I'm sick and tired of people like you running your mouth when you have no idea what it takes for this country to maintain our freedoms. If you and anyone like you don't like it, leave."

"Seth, I like your films, but right now, I wanna kick your ass," actor Dean Cain wrote on Twitter. "Chris is an American Hero. Period. Go to war. Then we'll talk."

"Seth Rogen, your uncle probably molested you," Kid Rock wrote in a post that chastised both Rogen and director Michael Moore. "I hope both of you catch a fist to the face soon. God bless you Chris Kyle, Thank you for your service."

In response to Kid Rock, Rogen tweeted the following:

Sophie Turner, aka Sansa Stark on "Game of Thrones," will play Jean Grey in "X-Men: Apocalypse." Director Bryan Singer made the announcement through his Twitter account on Thursday, while also revealing that Tye Sheridan (as Cyclops) and Alexandra Shipp (as Storm) will also join the cast.

Turner retweeted Singer and then also added her own commentary on the news:

The 18-year-old actress should have a big season ahead on "Game of Thrones," which returns on April 12 for its fifth season. "X-Men: Apocalypse," which also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Oscar Isaac, is out in theaters on May 27, 2016.

Watching Rainn Wilson Talk About Happiness Will Make You Happier

Rainn Wilson was asked to share some lessons for living a good life. Moments later he was convulsing on the couch, showing off how he experiences "rapturous joy."

Post-convulsion, during an appearance on HuffPost Live, he shared some poignant thoughts on happiness, his marriage, and being true to yourself.

"I gotta be me, I have to find my own truth, my own way to be odd and ungainly and weird."

I was doing my first Broadway play and I was terrible in it. I was bad. I had so much pressure on my shoulders. It was kind of a classic play and I thought I needed to be a certain way as an actor. And oh my god, I stunk. I was so distraught, I would be weeping in the middle of the night, calling my wife.

It was one of the hardest experiences I went through, to show up everyday to a Broadway play knowing that you suck.

Sometimes as an actor you’re just in the wrong part at the wrong time. But it was mostly my belief systems that really screwed me up and then after that something broke, something cracked.

I was just like screw this, I’m not going to be that kind of actor anymore. I gotta be me, I have to find my own truth, my own way to be odd and ungainly and weird and bring who I am through my characters. I don’t need to try to be anyone, anything, to impress anyone else or try to make people to like me. I have to be me. It was this whole new way of being but it took weeks of devastating difficulty.

"The most important thing about any relationship is falling in love with the other person’s faults."

Someone once said, and I think this is really great, that the most important thing about any relationship is falling in love with the other person’s faults. I think a lot of couples tolerate other people’s faults. Like "oh, this is wrong, and this bugs me, but I’ll tolerate that." But then you get to a point where you embrace their flaws and their faults, and just be like, "I love that part of them, just as much as I love the other part of them."

"Happiness is not something outside of ourselves to be pursued."

This idea that you’ll get happiness through material means -- everyone can kind of say, ‘oh yeah, yeah, I know that’s not true' -- but still we operate in that way. There’s this kind ‘if, then’ proposition about happiness which is if I get this, or if this happens, if I get this wife, or this house, or this job, or this promotion, or whatever, or this career...then I’ll be happy. I’m not happy now.

I think that happiness is to be found in the Buddhist tradition, completely in the moment, right here and now. Daily gratitude, twice daily, thrice daily, minute-daily gratitudes -- how many minutes are there in a day?? -- that is where really happiness is to be found. It’s not something outside of ourselves to be pursued.

We're Shocked To See Octavia Spencer On This Week's Worst Dressed List

$

This week, we were a little surprised to see a few faces on the worst-dressed list.

Octavia Spencer failed in a busy, poorly tailored dress, Katie Holmes looked dowdy wearing a monochromatic outfit and Emily Blunt's ensemble was a little too costumey for our taste.

Check out the worst-dressed stars of the week and let us know if you agree with our picks.

Octavia Spencer

spencer

Spencer is usually a fixture on our best-dressed lists wearing perfectly draped dresses -- but not this week. Her ill-fitting velvet and sequined illusion neckline dress was a huge mistake that isn't doing her body any favors.

Katie Holmes

katie

Last week, we told you how to wear grey on grey and not look drab -- clearly Holmes didn't get the memo. Not only are all the muted colors washing her out, but the oversized coat and dress are making her look bigger than she is.

Jennifer Lopez

jlo

While we don't mind the hue of Lopez's outfit, the pants are a disaster. Wide-leg trousers are tricky to pull off and here the singer seriously flopped. Not only are they too wide and too long, but they also appear to be very wrinkled.

Pixie Lott

lott

Amal Clooney wore gloves on the red carpet with much success, but Lott is having a harder time. They don't jive with the vibe of her gown, especially since she went for a dress with a strapless neckline.

Emily Blunt

blunt

What is going on here? That single kimono sleeve looks terribly out of place and the embellishments look a little cheap. We know Blunt can do better.

Morenca Baccarin

morena

Silk potato sack or wedding night lingerie? Your call.

Less Is More On This Week's Best Dressed List

This week's best-dressed list was a study in less is more.

Keri Russell stunned in a pared down black jumpsuit, Emmy Rossum wowed in a simple turtleneck and FLOTUS stole the show in a classic skirt suit.

Check out the best-dressed stars of the week and let us know if you agree with our picks.

Jennifer Connelly in Louis Vuitton

jennifer

We love everything about this look. From the bare legs, to the leather accents on the dress, to the texture from her patent clutch and boots, it's a fashion home run.

Emmy Rossum in Carolina Herrera

emmy

While Rossum's outfit is quite simple, she opted for pieces that fit her perfectly, which landed her on the best-dressed list. Her black turtleneck is snug without being too tight and her lace pencil skirt adds the perfect amount of visual interest. And those nude heels are making her legs look about two miles long.

Keri Russell

keri

A jumpsuit has never looked sexier. The plunging neckline, tapered trousers and killer pumps make this one look to remember.

Michelle Obama in Michael Kors

kors

FLOTUS shocked the house at the State of the Union address by wearing a skirt suit. While we love the rich grey color, our favorite part of her outfit was that she was twinning with Alicia Florrick from "The Good Wife."

Karolina Kurkova in Haney

kk

This beaded dress could have skewed very 1920's flapper, but Kurkova's modern 'do, bright lipstick and killer shoes ensured that her outfit was appropriate for 2015.

How An Enormous Failure On Broadway Changed Rainn Wilson's Life

TV fans know Rainn Wilson as the eccentric paper salesman Dwight Schrute from "The Office," but before he found that level of fame, he faced devastating failure -- and it made all the difference.

Wilson spoke with HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri on Wednesday about his new Fox series "Backstrom," and during the conversation he shared how a misstep can transform into an opportunity for success.

"Always in the human experience, we find that some of the most difficult things that we've ever gone through -- the biggest tests or challenges that we're ever given as human beings -- actually are doorways to a new level of growth and new possibilities," Wilson said.

He detailed his own excruciating experience that became a turning point in his life, which happened when he was performing in the play "London Assurance."

"I was terrible in it. I was bad," Wilson said. "Oh my God, I stunk. I was so distraught, and I would be weeping in the middle of the night, calling my wife, and it was one of the hardest experiences I went through, to show up every day to a Broadway play knowing you suck."

Even after working with the director to right his performance, Wilson said he "just couldn't get it." But failing so spectacularly on such a significant stage turned into a breakthrough -- and as a result he explained he found "a whole new way of being":

After that, something broke. Something cracked. I fired my agents, I had no agents at the time, and I was just like, screw this, I'm not gonna be that kind of actor anymore. I've got to be me. I have to find my own truth, my way to just be odd and ungainly and weird and bring who I am through my characters. I don't need to try to be anything to impress anyone else or try and make people like me.

How 'Shield' Showrunner Glen Mazzara Stopped Mansplaining In His Writers' Room

Speaking at Davos this week, Wharton professor and author Adam Grant relayed one anecdote about how Glen Mazzara, executive producer of "The Shield" and formerly of "The Walking Dead," dealt with male writers' attempts to keep female writers from contributing during discussions: a no-interruptions rule. According to Grant, it worked. "Lo and behold, it seems to be much more useful for women than men," he said. "Because women are usually the people who get interrupted. I think that's an example of a policy we can all put in place."

Jennifer Lopez wasn't hiding anything when she joined Andy Cohen for an episode of "Watch What Happens Live" on Thursday.

The "Boy Next Door" star donned a black dress with a neckline that plunged almost to her waist, sheer sleeves and a sheer skirt for the interview.

During the sit-down, Lopez opened up about some of her exes, saying that she isn't "a looks person."

"I like manly," she said. "I don't like kind of a softer, you know, edge to them. I like kind of a tougher edge to them. I like somebody who makes me laugh. Maybe what I liked when I was younger wasn't as good for me, but now I have different criteria. As far as type wise, like look and everything, I'm not a looks person, I don't know if you noticed over the years?"

The comment got a big laugh from Cohen and the audience. When Cohen said she has dated some hot men, Lopez added: "I thought they were all hot. They were all hot. Other people might be like, 'What the hell is she thinking?' But I don't care."

Ali MacGraw's 'Absurd' Fear About Ex-Husband Steve McQueen (VIDEO)

The 1970s were incredibly busy for Hollywood actress Ali MacGraw. Professionally, she had skyrocketed to international fame in the movie "Love Story," and went on to star in two more major hits during that decade. One of those films was "The Getaway," where MacGraw worked alongside screen icon Steve McQueen. MacGraw was married to producer Robert Evans at the time, but ended up falling for her co-star -- and McQueen became her third husband in 1973.

Five years later, MacGraw and McQueen would divorce, after a tumultuous relationship.

Looking back on her marriages, MacGraw now says she is saddened by her post-divorce relationship with McQueen, who died in 1980, two years after they split. It's especially sad for MacGraw when she considers what happened with her first two husbands in the years following their respective break-ups.

"I married some wonderful men, and the ones that are alive are my friends -- real friends," MacGraw says in the above video from "Super Soul Sunday."

Unfortunately, MacGraw was never able to experience this type of renewed friendship with McQueen. "Steve McQueen is dead for 30-some-odd years, and it's very sad to me that as sober, grown-up, nonsexually connected beings, we didn't get to sit down and clean it all," she says.

With the wisdom that comes from both maturity and time, MacGraw is now able to articulate one of the issues that she would have wanted to clear with her ex.

"I was always afraid he'd leave me," she says of McQueen. "I mean, it was this absurd... I don't know what I thought, except that I wasn't real."

More: MacGraw explains the one reason why all three of her marriages ended in divorce.

The new season of "Super Soul Sunday" begins Sunday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. ET on OWN. Find OWN on your TV.

Jennifer Aniston Keeps It Simple In A LBD For 'The Daily Show'

Jennifer Aniston was simple yet sophisticated in a little black dress when she stopped by "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" Thursday in New York City.

The 45-year-old paired the low-cut LBD with a pair of studded slingback heels and a black ribbon in her ponytail. Once she sat down with Stewart, the two talked about her role in "Cake," which hits theaters tomorrow.

"I wanted to challenge myself, I really did," she told Stewart about playing a woman suffering with chronic pain and depression following an accident. "I wanted to do it and I was tired of ... I love comedies. We all love comedies, we like to laugh, we want to escape, but I also know there's so much in all of us actors, I'm sure, that we want to explore. I was just ready to do it and this came along, and it wasn't available so I had to wait and wait, and just beg to get in that room."

Blake Shelton Got More Frustrated Over 'Whisper Challenge' Than He Does With Adam Levine

"This is the stupidest thing, literally, I have ever been a part of in my entire career."

Blake Shelton is known for getting frustrated with co-judge Adam Levine on "The Voice," but Jimmy Fallon's new "Tonight Show" game took things to a whole new level for this week's "SNL" host. In the "Whisper Challenge," one player wears noise canceling headphones and tries to guess what the other is saying by reading their lips. That's what's supposed to happen anyway ...

The game they played on Thursday mostly consisted of blank stares, confusion over if Benedict Cumberbatch is actually a person and Shelton eloquently articulating his critiques by saying things like, "This is bull crap."

Adam Levine, take note.

"The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.

Patrick Stewart starred with Jennifer Lawrence in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," but merely appearing in the credits with Lawrence isn't enough for the actor. In an EW Facebook chat promoting his new movie "Match," Stewart said that the actress would be his ideal co-star.

"I'd like to collaborate with Jennifer Lawrence," he said. "I think she's brilliant, with a great sense of humor, and quite good looking."

He also endorsed a Patrick Stewart-Ian McKellen buddy comedy. "It’s a brilliant idea," he wrote. "Will you write the script for us please? Which of course will have to have approval."

Patrick Stewart Says He's 'Flattered' At Being Mistaken For Gay

Patrick Stewart says he was "flattered" when The Guardian mistakenly identified him as gay in a 2014 article.

The 74-year-old "X-Men" star tells The Advocate he was ultimately proud of the assumption, which appeared in a Feb. 17 article detailing Ellen Page's coming out, penned by writer Jane Czyzselska.

"Indeed the first contact I had was from Ian McKellen, who sent me an email saying, ‘Congratulations!’ And I accepted the congratulations and said, ‘I think this is a very distinctive honor that I’ve been awarded,’” he recalls in a new interview with Jase Peeples of The Advocate.

At the time, Stewart playfully responded to the report on Twitter. joking that he had "like, five or even SEVEN hetero friends and we totally drink beer and eat lots of chicken wings!"

In hindsight, he takes the gaffe in stride.

“I wasn’t going to get all upset and stuffy about somebody being a little bit careless in their research,” he says. “Or frankly who had looked at some of the evidence and made an assumption.”

The actor, who can be seen opposite Carla Gugino and Matthew Lilliard in "Match," said his longtime support of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community came naturally, due in part to his background in theater.

“I think this is where the theater is such an appealing world, because it embraces everything and always has. So there was never a moment where I made an intellectual choice that I would be a supporter of gay civil rights," he says. "It was always a natural and uncomplicated choice."

Emma Watson Says Women's Potential Is 'Astonishingly Untapped' In HeForShe Davos Speech

Emma Watson followed up her September 2013 HeForShe address with another equally impassioned speech -- this time at the World Economic Forum.

On Jan. 23, the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador took the stage in Davos, Switzerland to speak about the HeForShe campaign, the influence it has had on her own life and the new initiative Impact 10x10x10. "Women share this planet 50/50 and they are underrepresented -- their potential astonishingly untapped," she told the crowd.

The HeForShe campaign encourages men to join the movement towards achieving gender equality. As the campaign's website reads, it "brings together one half of humanity in support of the other half of humanity, for the benefit of all."

In her speech, Watson describes the far-reaching impact the launch of the HeForSpeech campaign had. Her remarks from the September conference were watched over 11 million times, created 1.2 billion social media conversations and encouraged men from almost every country in the world to sign the HeForShe commitment.

Watch Watson's full speech at Davos here (story continues below video):

The campaign has inspired many celebrities including Desmond Tutu, Hillary Clinton, Prince Harry and many more.

“It is my belief that there is a greater understanding than ever that women need to be equal participants in our homes, in our societies, in our governments and in our workplaces," she said. "And they know that the world is being held back in every way because they are not.”

Instead of engaging people on an individual level, like HeForShe's original campaign, Impact10x10x10 is taking on bigger groups. The initiative is a one-year project that will engage businesses, universities and governments, and encourage them to make real commitments in order to achieve gender equality.

Watson addressed different groups of people throughout her speech, including CEOs of big businesses: "CEOs: Have you implemented the women’s empowerment principles in your own company? What change have you seen? Are you someone persuading men to become HeForShes and collecting their signatures for our website? How many have you got?" she asked. "We want to know. We want to hear from you."

"I’ve been stunned by the amount of men in my life that have contacted me since my speech to tell me to keep going," she said. "And that they want to make sure their daughters will still be alive to see a world where women have parity, economically and politically.”
