Prince promised that his "Saturday Night Live" performance would go down in history, and his eight-minute long, four-song spanning set was nothing short of legendary. Mashing "Plectrumelectrum" "Anotherlove" and "Marz" from his "Plectrumelectrum" album with "Clouds" from his "Art Official Age" album, Prince, 3rdEyeGirl and singer Lianne La Havas destroyed the "SNL" stage. Prince switched between piano and guitar, rocking his third-eye sunglasses and adding visuals of clouds, lightning and technicolor displays. As "SNL" put it:

Chris Rock Tackles 9/11, Boston Marathon In 'SNL' Monologue

Chris Rock began the night as host of "Saturday Night Live" with a controversial monologue that tackled both the Boston Marathon bombings and the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York.

After mentioning Sunday's New York City Marathon, Rock went on to joke about why he thought the Boston Marathon was so "scary":

"That was probably the most sadistic, frightening terrorist attack ever. Just think about it. 26 miles. 26 miles is a long drive. If you call up one of your friends, 'Hey man, I need you to pick me up,' 'Where you at?' [and he says] '26 miles away' you better get Uber."

The 49-year-old comedian then switched gears with a bit about how he'll never visit the new Freedom Tower after 9/11:

"I am never going in the Freedom Tower. I don't care if Scarlett Johannson is butt-naked on the 89th floor in a plate of ribs. I'm not going in there."

As Uproxx noted, the monologue was divisive among viewers, but not everyone was offended. Cast member Pete Davidson, whose father was a firefighter who died on Sept. 11, tweeted support for Rock on Sunday:

'SNL' Sketch Perfectly Sums Up Your Love/Hate Relationship With Taylor Swift

Try as you might, but you just can't hate Taylor Swift. It's science.

"Swiftamine," a clever digital short from last night's "Saturday Night Live" episode hilariously explains the medical phenonemon that forces you to like Taylor Swift's music, as much as you really don't want to.

Fake neurologist Dr. David Doctor explains:

"Medically speaking, Taylor Swift onset vertigo occurs when one of her songs forces your brain to fight your ears. Your frontal lobe says, 'Oof, Taylor Swift... she's always wearing, like a 1950's bathing suit.' But your ears say, 'Shut up. This is a perfect song.'"

If only Swiftamine really existed.

Katherine Heigl Responds To Rumors That She's 'Very Rude'

Katherine Heigl answered a personal question during a Facebook Q&A about her new show, "Personal Affairs" on Saturday.

When a fan asked Heigl for her thoughts concerning rumors that she is "very rude," the actress responded:

Yeah I've heard those too...honestly I don't think I am...nothing makes me more uncomfortable than confrontation or hurting someone's feelings and I would never, ever actively do so on purpose. Of course just like any human being I've made mistakes and unwittingly or carelessly spoken or acted but I always try to make any wrong right. That doesn't mean I won't stand up for myself by drawing boundaries and asking to be treated kindly and respectfully but I don't do that with any rude or unkind intentions just with the same strength and honesty I think every one of us is entitled to.

This isn't the first time Heigl has addressed these rumors. When asked a similar question in a press event for "State Of Affairs," the 35-year-old said:

"I can only say that I certainly don't see myself as being difficult. I would never intend to be difficult. I don't think my mother sees herself as being difficult. I think it's important to everybody to conduct themselves professionally and respectfully and kindly. If I have ever disappointed somebody, it was not intentional."

Over the years, Heigl has come under fire for allegedly being difficult to work with. Most recently, "Grey's Anatomy" creator, producer and writer Shonda Rhimes took a shot at Heigl in a profile by the Hollywood Reporter. While discussing production on "Scandal," the showrunner said, "There are no Heigls in this situation." Rhimes later added, "I don't put up with bullshit or nasty people. I don't have time for it."

Son To Usher: Dad, You're Not A Great Singer

NEW YORK (AP) -- One of Usher's sons studies his dance moves meticulously, while the other has said to the Grammy-winning star: "You're not a great singer."

Usher says his son Nayvid Ely Raymond, who turns 6 in December, isn't impressed with the multiplatinum singer.

"He doesn't care about what I do as much. ... He's like, `I'm the star. Who are you? You sing?'" Usher said in a recent interview.

"He told me the other day, he says, `You're not a great singer,'" Usher, 36, continued with a laugh. His reply to his son: "What? I'm a great singer!"

Usher said his son named after him, who turns 7 next month, has taken to his father's dance talents.

"When seeing me perform on tour in the past ... and most of the time it's past his bedtime, but he's just sitting there studying every move, every second, like laser focus," he said of Usher Raymond V. "And then I'll see him off by himself doing the moves."

Usher will showcase his sharp choreography on his UR Experience World Tour, which kicks off Saturday in Montreal. He said the tour was influenced by live shows he's seen from U2, Bruce Springsteen and Frankie Beverly.

"There's this connection and that is what gave the inspiration for this show," he said of the veteran acts.

He will play many of his hits, from "U Remind Me" to "Yeah!" to "OMG," on his first tour in three years. He will also play instruments.

"I may be playing the drum sometimes. I may be playing the bass," he said. "We may have a reprise on a song that you know and you enjoy for, who knows, eight to 10 minutes."

Usher, who released two singles this year, is currently working on his eighth album. Apart from music, he says he would like to do more movies and enjoyed his stint on NBC's "The Voice" because was able to stress the seriousness of artist development.

"This is something that was very, very important when I came up as an artist and is probably the reason why 20 years later, I am making music and performing and excited about doing it," he said.

British Pop Star Katie Melua Finds Spider Living In Her Ear

Can you hear me now?

Good! Hopefully that means there isn't a spider living in one of your ears.

On Oct. 27, after hearing a "rustling" sound in her ear for a week, British pop singer Katie Melua went to the doctor to have it checked out. When they looked into her ear canal, this is what they found, staring right back at them:

So I had a rustling in my ear for a week and went to the doctor to have it checked out this morning. THIS little fella is what they found!

Video, jonka Katie Melua (@katiemeluaofficial) julkaisi laitteella

Melua, 30, believes the spider crawled into her ear canal when she used some old in-ear monitors to "block out sound on a flight," according to an Instagram post. The spider set up residence for a full seven days. But other than the "occasional shuffling noises," the pop star told her fans, "it was no hassle at all."

Ear canals actually serve as pretty comfy homes for critters, says Philip Koehler, Ph.D., an entomology professor at the University of Florida. Koehler told HuffPost that insects -- or, in this case, arachnids -- "are probably entering the canal as harborage, for heat, and/or for moisture."

Here's another picture of the spider, which Melua said on Instagram was actually "pretty small":

Melua's spokeswoman told MSN that the singer released the spider in her garden, where hopefully there's more to eat.

NEW YORK (AP) — Wayne Static, the frontman for the metal band Static-X, has died at age 48.

Morgan Renken, who worked with Static and the band for 15 years, says Static died Saturday. She declined to give the location or the cause of the death. Static was the lead vocalist, keyboardist and guitarist for Static-X, whose "Wisconsin Death Trip" went platinum. He also released a solo album, "Pighammer," in 2011.

Renken says Static was set to begin a monthlong U.S. tour Monday and he planned to play in Russia and England next year.

Static was a native of Muskegon, Michigan, and lived outside of Joshua Tree, California. He is survived by his wife, adult film actress Tera Wray.

Here's another reason to love Emma Watson.

After winning a major award last week, Watson didn't just go through the usual laundry list of thank-yous. Instead, she told a story that involves growing up in the film industry and the untimely end of a beloved pet.

Check out the clip above for Watson's tale of Millie the Hamster, which she told while accepting the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts ceremony in Los Angeles.

The event was filmed on Thursday night and broadcast in the United States on Sunday night on BBC America.

We're all about this fun and catchy display of teamwork.

Rapper Hoodie Allen and British pop sensation Ed Sheeran have released a playful new video for their track "All About It."

The two don superhero costumes, smash watermelons and set off rockets while their catchy collaboration plays in the background. And if they look like they're having a blast, there's a reason: The "No Interruption" vocalist and the fiery-haired musician are friends.

“The ‘All About It’ video was definitely one of my favorite videos to shoot," Allen told BuzzFeed News, "because I got to hang out with my friend, and act silly and outrageous in costumes."

Allen's Twitter account shows the two of them clowning around on set:

Tom Cruise Isn't Jumping On Couches Anymore, He's Hanging Off Planes

In case you didn't know: Tom Cruise does his own stunts.

And for his latest trick, the 52-year-old actor -- wearing a tailored gray suit and dress shoes -- clings to the fuselage of an Airbus A400M as it soars 5,000 feet in the air, according to The Daily Mail. Why did he do this, you may ask? Well, for his most recent turn as spy Ethan Hunt in "Mission: Impossible 5," of course.

Granted Cruise was strapped in with two safety harnesses as he flew over rural British airspace, but, come on, who allowed one of world's most beloved and revered actors to do this? (We'd like to check their heart rate.)

It's nothing new for the action star, though: Cruise dangled 1,700 feet from the side of the world's tallest building, Dubai's Burj Khalifa, for 2011's "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol."

"The reason that I do [the stunts] is, it's a challenge, but it's also a part of storytelling," Cruise said during a press conference for "Ghost Protocol." "It's something that I do because I feel for the audience, that they'll really enjoy it more if they see me doing it in the camera. And I think that it adds a wonderful element of storytelling and that's really the reason why we push ourselves both in telling the story and in doing those things to make it as exciting for the audience as possible."

Ariana Grande Is Creeped Out By The 42.5 Pound Pumpkin She Received

Note to fans of Ariana Grande: Do not send the petite, ponytail-loving singer large pumpkins, lest you want her to alert the police of your gift.

It seems that the 21-year-old became alarmed after Tim Normandin, 29, sent her a number of odd gifts that collectively make up what one HuffPost editor described as: "reminiscent of a fall care package sent by a bored housewife whose daughter just went away to college."

According to TMZ, Grande's record label reported the fan to police for sending the singer:

  • 8 Yankee candles

  • Dog and cat calendars

  • 3-piece mirror set from Kmart

  • $200 anklet from Kay Jewelers

  • Rock from the White Mountains of New Hampshire

  • A 42.5 pound pumpkin

The website reports that police in Lowell, Massachusetts told Normandin he'll face harassment if he doesn't stop sending packages to the singer, but he reportedly remains undeterred.

Previously there were reports that Grande was overheard saying she hoped her fans "all fucking die," while visiting a New York radio station this summer. And while her reps denied the story, it doesn't sound like she's fond of this particular admirer.

Are The Beatles & Jay Z Really The Biggest Artists In Music History?

There are few artists who exist on the same plane as the Beatles, but when it comes to determining the most productive, best-selling musicians, Jay Z is right up there with the boys from Liverpool.

Concert Hotels gathered the Billboard chart history of every artist who has achieved at least five No. 1 studio albums, producing an interactive infographic. When sorted by greatest number of No. 1 albums, the Beatles take the top spot with 14. Jay Z comes in a close second with 12 albums (not counting his "Watch the Throne" album with Kanye West), followed by Barbara Streisand, The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen with nine albums. However, when you switch to "hit rate," or greatest number of No. 1 albums out of the number of albums they have released, Beyonce takes the top spot, going six for six. Kanye West comes in second with six out of seven, Jay Z falls down to the fourth spot, and the Beatles to the ninth spot.

So what matters more: the greater quantity or consistency?

The One Piece Of Advice Jennifer Lopez Gives To Up-And-Comers

It seems like an eternity ago given just how famous she's become, but the superstar we know as Jennifer Lopez wasn't always the incredibly esteemed songstress we know today.

Lest we forget, at one point she was just Jenny from the block. And Lopez has no trouble remembering those days, as far gone as they may be. She writes of her early days in her memoir True Love, out Nov. 4th, and recalls how when her career was just beginning, she made creative decisions exclusively according to her personal judgement.

"I always made my decisions on my own; I always knew what was best for me. I didn't have anyone telling me what to do or where to go. I followed my heart, followed my instincts and listened to my gut," she writes.

She recounted how, as her fame grew, she made the mistake of putting "the advice of managers, record executives and stylists" before her own visions for herself.

"They had the best of intentions, but because I wasn't also listening to myself, I ended up caring more and more about what they wanted and how I was perceived by the public and the media than what I knew was right for me as an artist," she reflected.

With those experiences in mind, Lopez urges aspiring artists to not do the same:

That's why now, whenever someone asks me "what is the one piece of advice you would give an artist who is starting out and wants to do what you do?" My answer is always: Listen to yourself; listen to your gut; because only you know what's right for you."

Jake Gyllenhaal Recalls The Political Significance Of 'Brokeback Mountain'

Jake Gyllenhaal earned raves and an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of a ranch hand engaged in a clandestine same-sex affair in "Brokeback Mountain," but he now says the movie "lives in its own space."

"It was very successful in many different ways," Gyllenhaal, 33, told host Ricky Camilleri of the 2005 film during an appearance on HuffPost Live this week. "It gave me the idea that movies can be important, that they do have some sort of political value."

Recalling a recent run-in with "Brokeback" director Ang Lee, Gyllenhaal went on to describe the creative process behind "this little movie that we made with this master filmmaker...on a story that we all thought was really beautiful."

"It's an honor to be a part of [that movie] and it was the universe bringing it my way," he said.

Gyllenhaal's new movie, "Nightcrawler," opened this weekend.

Isaac Mizrahi: A Psychic Told Lena Dunham's Parents That She Was 'The Second Coming'

Isaac Mizrahi has known Lena Dunham since she was a "tiny child," and while he only saw the TV-star-to-be "every three years or something," the fashion designer never had a doubt that the future "Girls" showrunner would be a mega-star.

His theory stemmed from the verbal confirmation of a licensed professional -- well, sort of. He explained the whole situation in a HuffPost Live interview on Monday:

I was friendly with her mom and her dad and they always knew she was going to be a huge star because we all share this one psychic in New York who would say, like, 'Yeah, yeah, you just had this daughter, and she's going to be the second coming, apparently.' Like, that's what Laurie [Simmons, Lena's mother] used to tell us, and we were like, 'Yeah, well, good!' And then she [the psychic] was right! So we always knew she was going to be a huge star.

The "Project Runway: All Stars" judge also remembered Dunham's precociousness as a kid.

"She was incredibly smart, and saying incredibly smart things at such a young age," he said.

And while the "Not That Kind of Girl" author seems ubiquitous now, Mizrahi thinks there's a lot more success about to come her way.

"I think it's the tip of the iceberg for her because she's a wellspring, that girl," he said. "Just when you think she's done something so smart that she can't top herself, she writes a book that's incredibly smart."

This extends to her sense of style, which he also praised.

"[Lena] is the embodiment of style. She is the moment of style."

Twisty Is Coming Back On 'American Horror Story: Freak Show,' Be Very Scared

$

Last week, Ryan Murphy revealed one of the biggest pieces of "American Horror Story" news ever: all four seasons of the anthology series are connected.

While this was no doubt exciting news for fans, it also distracted from another major reveal in Murphy's interview with Entertainment Weekly. The series creator shared that Twisty the Clown, who (spoiler alert if you haven't seen "Freak Show" Episode 4) was killed by Edward Mordrake, will return later this season. Murphy added that both Twisty and Edward will make "triumphant returns." This usually wouldn't come as a surprise with "AHS," since the show is notorious for bringing back dead characters in later episodes. But Murphy told EW earlier in September that on "Freak Show," "once you die, you’re dead."

Vanity Fair has already called out Murphy for going back on his own word, but it makes us wonder just how Twisty will return. Murphy said this season includes no supernatural elements, but now that we know all the seasons are connected anything is possible.

Angela Bassett, who plays Desiree Dupree this season, told us last week that they're still filming episodes and that she has no idea how the season will end. She also told Vulture that anything can happen in the world of "AHS," saying, "I wouldn’t trust what [Murphy] says -- he cuts folks heads off," likely referring to Kathy Bates' "Coven" character. Naomi Grossman, who's reprising her "Asylum" character, Pepper, this season, recently said that "the biggest names in the series" get killed off half-way through "Freak Show."

All we know is that Twisty will be back in some shape or form alongside the two-faced Mordrake, and that when it comes to Murphy, we should leave all expectations behind.

For more, head to Entertainment Weekly.

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" airs on Wednesdays at 10:00 p.m. ET on FX.
