Stephen Collins Likely Won't Be Prosecuted For Child Molestation, Cops Say

0
0
Earlier this month TMZ obtained an audio recording of "7th Heaven" star Stephen Collins reportedly confessing to previous child molestation. However, it now appears that the actor will most likely not be prosecuted.

While the Los Angeles Police Department had previously opened an investigation around molestation allegations involving Collins in November, 2012, they soon after closed it having found "no verified victim." Upon the recent news of Collins' recorded confession to his wife Faye Grant, the LAPD has reopened the case and is working in tandem with the New York Police Department, along with the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. Now, however, sources from all three law enforcement departments have told TMZ that the statute of limitations mean, in the site's words, "the cases will go nowhere."

The statute has run out on the Los Angeles case, in which Collins allegedly exposed himself to a 13-year-old girl in 1983. However, the NYPD is still investigating the New York incident from 1972 that involved a 14-year-old girl. “There is a formal complaint on file and the incident is being investigated by the Manhattan Special Victims Squad,” the NYPD said in a statement earlier this month.

According to Grant, who is in the middle of a divorce with Collins, there was another incident that occurred while the actor was shooting "7th Heaven" sometime between 1996 and 2007. That victim has yet to come forward. All three law enforcement departments have said they are "re-listening" to the recorded confession to see if they "missed anything" in the L.A.P.D.'s 2012 investigation.

Since the recording surfaced via TMZ, Collins has been dropped from the film "Ted 2," pulled from an upcoming "Scandal" episode, and resigned from the National Board of the Screen Actors Guild.

Nothing can keep the "Sisterhood" apart, clearly.

The ladies of "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" reunited on Saturday when Amber Tamblyn, Blake Lively and Alexis Bledel showed up to support their fellow "sister" America Ferrera at her new play, "Lips Together, Teeth Apart." Tamblyn posted a photo to Instagram of herself with Lively and Bledel at the off-Broadway show with the caption, "Go America! Supporting our girl in her play, Lips Together, Teeth Apart. #sisterhood." Ferrera then tweeted the photo, thanking her friends for showing up.

While we love seeing the ladies reunite in real life, we're still hoping for an onscreen reunion. Last year, Ferrera told InTouch that all of them would love to work together again. "I think the four of us only ever think about how we can get back together and make people pay us to be with each other," Ferrera said.

Comedian Wyatt Cenac Explains How He Got Into A Physical Fight With Former SNL Cast Member Norm MacDonald

From the his role on "The Daily Show" to his new Netflix comedy special, comedian Wyatt Cenac is all about the jokes -- but that didn’t stop him from getting into a "physical altercation" with former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Norm MacDonald.

When the former "Daily Show" correspondent stopped by HuffPost Live on Monday, he told host Alyona Minkovski that as a 19-year-old intern at SNL, he was invited to join what should have been a friendly game of late-night soccer among co-workers in the hallways of the SNL studio. Cenac teamed up with Colin Quinn to play against Norm McDonald and Stephen Colbert, who was working as a writer on the show.

"And so we were playing and Norm, at the time, was trying to quit smoking, so I think he was a little more on edge, but we got into a little scrum over the ball," he said. "We were both kicking at the ball and I wound up clipping him in the shin. And he got really mad and he tried to throw me across the room. And so then I shoved him off of me and I was like, 'Get off of me' and then he shoved me back and we kind of got in a shoving match."

At that point, the altercation reached a stalemate. Cenac explained that neither of the two were willing to throw a punch.

"I didn't want to throw because I was an intern and I knew if I threw I’d get kicked out. And I think on his part he was like, 'Well, I don’t want to throw because if I throw, this kid will sue me and he’ll be the new president of NBC.'"

Scott Foley Had To Google 'Eiffel Tower' After Reading The Script For Last Week's 'Scandal'

Things have been getting pretty steamy on "Scandal" lately, starting with this season's premiere, when Jake Ballard got a little, um, handsy with Olivia Pope on the beach.

So when "Scandal" star Scott Foley stopped by HuffPost Live on Monday, host Alyona Minkovski couldn't let him go without asking about all the action Jake's been getting.

"We didn't think too much about it when we shot it, but looking at it now and hearing you say it, I feel like I'm back in high school and talking to my parents about heavy petting," Foley said of that saucy beach scene.

Foley also weighed in on last week's episode, which tackled the sexual position known as "Eiffel towering." It turns out that storyline was a teachable moment for Foley.

"I had to Google what an Eiffel tower was after reading the script," he said. "I knew that it was obviously a sexual act, but I was surprised at the graphic nature of it."

Attention all parents and/or Jimmy Fallon fans! The lovable "Tonight Show" host and dad to 1-year-old Winnie Rose has written a hilarious new picture book.

Feiwel and Friends, an imprint of Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, announced today that it will be releasing Jimmy Fallon's upcoming book, titled Your Baby's First Word Will Be DADA.

jimmy fallon book

Jimmy Fallon wrote a children's book, Snowball Fight! back in 2005, but this is the first one he's written since becoming a father. In fact, Fallon's personal parenting experience directly inspired Your Baby's First Word Will Be DADA. Baby Winnie Rose's first word was "Mama."

According to the official press release, the TV host's picture book is "a hilarious account of every father’s secret campaign to ensure that their babies’ first word is Dada -– not Mama!" Throughout the story, illustrated creatures -- from cows, sheep, and horses to mice and frogs -- try to coax their babies into saying "Dada."

"This is one of the few celebrity books that you can tell was actually written by the celebrity," Fallon says in the press release. "And my baby personally approved of the beautiful artwork by Miguel Ordóñez.”

The only thing that makes us sad about this book is that we have to wait until June 9, 2015 to read it.

Oscar De La Renta Dead: Legendary Fashion Designer Dies At 82

0
0
Legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta died on Monday at the age of 82, ABC News reported. The cause of death was complications from cancer, his wife confirmed to The New York Times.

De la Renta was born in the Dominican Republic in 1932. He left home at the age of 18 to study painting in Madrid, Spain but decided instead to pursue fashion design. He eventually worked as an apprentice to Cristobal Balenciaga, Spain's most celebrated couturier.

The young designer made a name for himself when he dressed former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the 1960s. After launching his own line, de la Renta became known for creating elaborate, feminine gowns that were often worn by first ladies including Nancy Reagan, Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton.

"Oscar’s remarkable eye was matched only by his generous heart. His legacy of philanthropy extended from children in his home country who now have access to education and healthcare, to some of New York’s finest artists whose creativity has been sustained through his support," Bill and Hillary Clinton said in a statement. "We will always be grateful to Oscar for the love he showed us, and for sharing his talent on some of the most important occasions of our lives."

De la Renta also dressed socialites in his couture creations, and his gowns were red carpet staples as celebrities including Oprah, Sarah Jessica Parker and more wore his designs year after year. Most recently, he collaborated with Amal Clooney on her wedding gown, which was accompanied by a spread in the November issue of Vogue.

"Style begins by looking good naked," he told The Telegraph in a 2013 interview. "It's a discipline. And if you don't dress well every day, you lose the habit. It's not about what you wear, but about how you live your life."

De la Renta was married twice. His first wife, Françoise de Langlade, was a former editor of French Vogue. She died of bone cancer in 1983. The couple had been married for 16 years. The designer adopted a son soon after his first wife's death and married socialite Annette Engelhard Reed in 1989. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2006.

De la Renta presented his Spring 2015 collection at New York Fashion Week in September. When reviewing the show, New York Times fashion director and chief fashion critic Vanessa Friedman wrote of the designer and his collection, "He has a respect for the classic forms (lunching suits, tea dresses, straight trousers — even full-blown ball gowns) that is almost palpable, not to mention an appreciation of the power of decoration and the allure it can bestow."

Last week, the fashion house announced that it had named Peter Copping as creative director.

In a tribute film recorded by friends in 2013, de la Renta said, "I feel very privileged, lucky, that I have had a wonderful life. And that I have been always been allowed to do what I loved."

Nicholas Brendon, 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' Actor, Arrested In Idaho

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An actor best known for his role in the television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is apologizing for actions that led to his arrest in a hotel lobby in southwest Idaho.

Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander Harris on the hit show that ran from 1997 to 2003, said Monday on Facebook that he erred by mixing prescribed pain medication and alcohol. "The result was embarrassing and unacceptable," he wrote. "I intend to seek appropriate treatment and therapy for my medical ailments as well as my emotional demons."

He said the physical pain came from a cyst behind his kneecap, but he didn't elaborate on the cause of the emotional demons.

Brendon was participating in the Tree City Comic Con at a Boise expo center where fans could have a photo taken with him for $40 and get his autograph for $30.

Boise officers took the 43-year-old actor into custody after responding to a disturbance around 9:30 p.m. Friday. Brendon faces misdemeanor charges of resisting officers and malicious injury to property.

Police say Brendon showed signs of being intoxicated and refused to remain seated while officers spoke with witnesses. Hotel officials say Brendon broke a decorative dish and they want to press charges. Authorities in a statement Saturday said Brendon was booked in the Ada County Jail and released after posting bond.

"During this difficult time, I appreciate understanding as I pursue rehabilitation — and I value support as I earn redemption with my family, friends, and fans," Brendon wrote in the statement confirmed as his by his booking agent, Kahmeela Adams, in an email to The Associated Press.

This was the first year for the Tree City Comic Con that besides Brendon drew an array writers, illustrators and other actors, including John Rhys-Davies who was Gimli in "Lord of the Rings," Nichelle Nichols who played Lt. Uhura in "Star Trek: The Original Series," and Verne Troyer, who played Mini Me in "Austin Powers."

Event organizers didn't return a phone call from the AP on Monday.

Gerard Parkes Dead At 90, Award-Winning Actor Best Known For 'Fraggle Rock' And 'Boondock Saints'

Gerard Parkes, the actor who played the human character Doc on Jim Henson's "Fraggle Rock," died on Oct. 19 in a Toronto retirement home. He had just turned 90.

Born in Dublin in 1924, Parkes moved to Canada after World War II and began his acting career on the stage in 1948, according to his IMDB biography.

His earliest listed TV credit was an appearance in a 1960 episode of the series, "The Encounter."

Parkes had an unforgettable role as another character named Doc, playing a bar owner with Tourette syndrome in the 1999 film "The Boondock Saints." He also had roles in "A Muppet Family Christmas," "Shining Time Station" and "The Littlest Hobo," and Entertainment Weekly reported that he played a priest multiple times throughout his career.

Parkes won best actor at the 1968 Canadian Film Awards for his role in the movie "Isabel." But his agent, Gerry Jordan, said it was his work on "Fraggle Rock" that many remember.

“We would get loads of fan mail always asking for his picture. It was one of those roles that hit a chord with kids and adults,” Jordan told the Canadian Press.

As Doc, Parkes played an inventor with a dog named Sprocket who lived in an apartment with a small hole leading to Fraggle Rock. Doc was the only "silly creature," a.k.a. human, on the show and as such usually couldn't see the Fraggles except in some extraordinary circumstances, as in the clip below.

However, not everyone saw Parkes in the role. While he was shown in most versions of the show, separate segments featuring other actors were filmed for use in a number of other countries.

"He was a magical man and a terrific performer," Jordan told CBC News.

Parkes leaves behind his longtime partner, Sheelagh Norman.

5 Things You Didn't Know About Kim Kardashian, Even Though She Literally Shares Everything

0
0
Kim Kardashian has made a career out of sharing just about everything with the public. She's followed round-the-clock by a camera crew when she films her reality show, and has taken so many selfies in her lifetime that she plans on releasing them in a coffee table book this spring.

Alas, even with all her sharing there might be a few things about Kardashian you were somehow unaware of, and in honor of the star's 34th birthday we've rounded up a few facts about her that may just boggle your mind:

1. Kim was voted "Most Likely to Meet Her Husband at the Million Man March" and "Most Likely To Lie About Her Ethnicity," in high school.

Kardashian attended Marymount High School, an all-girls Catholic school in Los Angeles, where her classmates apparently knew she had a type.

2. The company under which she licenses everything from perfumes to workout DVDs is called Kimsaprincess, Inc.

In 2007, Kardashian formed a company called Kimsaprincess, Inc., which tells you exactly what the reality star thinks of herself. It's also the name of her eBay store and her Myspace name.

3. She has a very specific hair routine.

Even someone as pampered as Kim Kardashian doesn't have time for a daily blowout. In fact, the reality star keeps a four-day schedule of changing styles to make sure her brunette tresses are at their healthiest.

"I start out the first day with a clean blowout," Kardashian recently told Us Weekly. "The second day, I put in dry shampoo, which adds texture. Then, the third day, I sleek it and I straighten it, and then, the fourth day, I put our oil in it, and I make it a really sleek look. I might do a ponytail or a sleek bun. That’s my hair plan, and then I start over."

4. Her biggest regret is not what you think it is.

“It’s definitely a memory and it was a fun experience. We gave the proceeds to a cancer organization," Kardashian recently told "Watch What Happens Live" host Andy Cohen of her 2011 song "Jam (Turn It Up)." "But if there’s one thing in life that I wish I didn’t do ... I don’t like it when people kind of dabble into things they shouldn’t be. And that I don’t think I should have. Like, what gave me the right to think I could be a singer? Like, I don’t have a good voice.”

5. Kim and Kanye West were "bound 2" end up together.

It's no secret that West has been in love with Kardashian for forever, but the reality star revealed to her friends and family during her bachelorette party that the first time she spoke to the rapper, he called her and they talked on the phone for eight hours.

Though they had an obvious "connection," Kardashian had a boyfriend at the time, and it would be years before they would get together and West would be able to call Kim his "Perfect Bitch," "number one trophy wife," or tell her: "You will never need another lover / Cause you a MILF and I'm a motherfucker."

Matthew McConaughey Wishes Washington Redskins Logo Wouldn't Change

0
0
Matthew McConaughey is November's GQ cover star and, in the accompanying interview by Brett Martin, the Oscar-winning actor waded into the controversy surrounding the Washington Redskins and its much-derided team name.

"What interests me is how quickly it got pushed into the social consciousness," McConaughey said in the interview of the movement to alter the Redskins nickname. "We were all fine with it since the 1930s, and all of a sudden we go, 'No, gotta change it'? It seems like when the first levee breaks, everybody gets on board. I know a lot of Native Americans don't have a problem with it, but they’re not going to say, 'No, we really want the name.' That's not how they’re going to use their pulpit. It's like my feeling about gun control: 'I get it. You have the right to have guns. But look, let's forget that right. Let's forget the pleasure you get safely on your range, because it's in the wrong hands in other places.'"

Debate over Washington's National Football League team moniker has been in the news for some time. Most recently, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler said the name was "offensive and derogatory." In 2013, President Barack Obama said he would "think about changing" the handle if he were the owner.

"I think you're going to have some people that feel a certain way, absolutely, and we respect those opinions," team owner Daniel Snyder told ESPN in a September interview about opponents to the Redskins name. "But I hope they respect our opinion. The respect needs to be mutual, and I hope they do." Snyder has previously stated that Washington's team name is not derogatory to Native Americans.

But for McConaughey, who has been a Redskins fan since his childhood and even attended a team practice in June of this year, it's only a matter of time before a change to the Washington name occurs.

"It’s not going to hurt me. It’s just ... I love the emblem," McConaughey told GQ. "I dig it. It gives me a little fire and some oomph. But now that it's in the court of public opinion, it's going to change. I wish it wouldn't, but it will."

For the full interview with McConaughey, where he also touches on his career resurgence and his past life as a romantic comedy star, head to GQ. Photos of McConaughey can be found there as well.

The Scent of a Woman

0

I have worn Oscar de la Renta's signature fragrance, Oscar, my whole adult life. It made its debut in 1977, the same year I became an actress. I remember the powdery, soft, gentle, feminine fragrance that complimented and never detracted. It was my first moment of individual style as a young person. My mother, the late, great Janet Leigh, wore Estee Lauder's, Youth Dew. Oscar was MY signature as well as Mr. de la Renta's.

As I developed as a young woman so did his fragrance. I cannot even begin to count the number of times I would be stopped and asked....." What is your perfume?" Men, women -- young and old -- and the greatest compliment came when, after a visit with me, a female friend would return home to her children and they would exclaim, "Mommy, you smell like Jamie."

There was an eau de toilette and a stronger perfume and a perfume purse spray with a gold plated dispenser in the floral-swirl design that was his logo. When the saleswoman at Saks once told me they were discontinuing the purse spray I called Mr. de la Renta's office to ask how long the perfume would last in the concentrated spray bottle. I then grabbed all they had left. In 2009 I bought a gown of his to wear to the Obama inaugural; black velvet -- classic, so simple and beautiful.

Like so may designers in their careers, Mr. de la Renta lost the licensing to his own name when it was bought by a bigger company. For years I used my stockpiled supply and didn't want to buy any more as I knew it was no longer his till 2011 when I walked into a Oscar de la Renta boutique to look at his beautiful clothes. The saleswomen asked me if I wanted to try the new fragrance, and as I declined I told her of my devotion and brand loyalty. She then explained that he had recently gotten back his name, that he now owned the fragrance and this was a new mix of the same notes -- a slightly different fragrance melody. I agreed to try a small spray of it on a thin cardboard stick and put it in my car.

When I returned to drive home my nose told me that indeed it was a gentle shift but one I wholly welcomed, as I too had mellowed with age and I have now proudly worn the new Oscar, Esprit D'Oscar ever since. It generates the same queries and exclamations from children to their mothers and it is with pride that I wear him and it is with great sadness that I write this.

I will stay forever devoted and will wear him to my grave. Gentle, soft, feminine, chic, elegant. His style. My scent. Words I attribute to us both.

Kate Middleton Makes First Appearance Since Announcing Her Second Pregnancy

0

It happened! It finally happened!

We've been waiting for a glimpse of Kate Middleton ever since the palace confirmed her pregnancy back in September. But with reports that she has suffered with prolonged Hyperemesis Gravidarum, something she also had during her pregnancy with Prince George, she has since been unable to attend public events. Now, it seems that she is finally feeling well enough to make her debut.

Dressed in an Alexander McQueen coat and Jane Taylor hat, the duchess joined Prince William in greeting the President of the Republic of Singapore and his wife to London.

It was recently announced that Kate and William's second child is due in April, meaning she is now somewhere around the three-to-four month mark. Needless to say, she looks absolutely radiant.

A famed outfit repeater, we were excited to see that duchess opted for something new this time around. Although it's no real surprise she chose McQueen for her first appearance since announcing her second pregnancy. After all, she is a pretty devoted fan.

Kerry Washington Says Her 'Scandal' Sex Scenes Are 'Hard To Do'

0
0
By watching "Scandal," you'd never guess that Kerry Washington feels uncomfortable acting out her passionate affair with co-star Tony Goldwyn. But as cover star of Allure magazine's November issue, the actress says those steamy scenes aren't as natural as they look.

"They're hard to do. Sex scenes are always awkward," Washington told Allure.

"You're doing things that you're supposed to do with only certain people in your life. Because this is not your real partner in life, doing that is awkward. And then doing it in a room full of people is awkward,” Washington said.

The 37-year-old, who married NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha in 2013, told Allure that she only comments on her chemistry with Goldwyn when it's in the "Scandal" script, out of respect for his longtime wife, Jane Musky.

"Particularly with a show like ours, where people are so invested in the chemistry, you just learn to be careful, because people's real relationships in life are important. I so respect and admire his wife and him and their family, and he feels the same way about mine. And so you learn to be careful about how you say things," said Washington.

This isn't the first time a "Scandal" star has confessed that the show's sex scenes can get awkward. Scott Foley told HuffPostLive in April that shooting intimate scenes with Washington, who was pregnant at the time, was a "challenge:"

"It's hard to enjoy those scenes," Foley said. "There's the guy fixing her bra, or my hair so it's awkward to begin with, but when you throw in a belly on top of that, or underneath it depending on the position we're in, it makes it even more so."

Art vs. Begging and the Reality of Modern-Day Manhattan

0
0
My name is Sean Bradford. I've been "busking" for over a year in Berlin and the last few months in other European cities, including Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo. I'm currently doing a city tour #popupbradford, to help build my fan base and also spread my original music as I am an emerging artist.

I feel like I need to say something about the latest Erykah Badu busking incident, not only because I have a bit of experience on the topic, but also because I don't think her experiment cast the proper light on what can be a helpful and also powerful tool.

First off, there are rules and etiquette to busking, also known as street performance. Rule number one is you never ask people for money. They will give if they want, because they appreciate that you are sharing something with them. This is not an act of desperation, but an act of self-promotion.

Second, there are certain things -- a sign, amplification, CDs, fliers, etc. -- that legitimize what you are doing. I won't tell you how much I make, but the least I ever made (the first time I busked on Warschauer Strasse in Berlin, crying, wearing atrocious pink shorts and sunglasses in the middle of a hot and busy summer day -- I made 12 euro in less than 30 minutes.

Also, Times Square is not an accurate representation of any place on Earth, except for Times Square. I was an actor in The Lion King for over two years and the most anxiety-ridden part of my day was deciding whether or not to approach my theatre (on 45th and Broadway) from the top, exiting at 50th and walking down or walking up from 42nd. It's a madhouse: crowded, noisy, full of New Yorkers rushing to work, tourists looking up and the continual sirens of an army of police cars. It's so loud I used to do my entire vocal warmup while walking to the theatre and no one would even notice. This is not a suitable place to do anything except pass through to a destination... or if you're a tourist, wonder if all of America looks like this.

And while I don't think singing outside in NYC for promotion or money would work (maybe in Union Square or the West Village) due to the sheer noise level alone, there is a strategy to play in places where you can be heard and also represent yourself as a brand. I know numerous artists who consistently make or made a decent wage from performing outside (Amanda Palmer also did as a street mime), but in every city I play, I also pass people with only a few cents in their guitar case or hat, and I must say part of it is how you represent yourself.

If Erykah Badu (who by the way I love as an artist) wanted to do the experiment correctly, she would have been prepared. She could've made a sign with a fake name to see if people recognized her. However (though I wasn't there) it seems the situation wasn't so much about the performance as it was the act of "begging" through music. I heard this story first in Slovakia, then in the airport in Vienna, then via Gawker and lastly on the U-bahn in Berlin on my way home. The media has used this as a social commentary on New Yorkers and the variables are not a reflection on the art of busking, the point of busking or the potential earnings that could be made. The state of NYC is another matter, ousting creatives to the far edges of Brooklyn or New Jersey because of outrageous prices. Art can not flourish in an environment that doesn't allow for it to grow. And that is a result of rising rent costs, lack of performance venues and the cutting of arts funding. But don't blame New Yorkers who are working their asses off just to survive. Blame the city. And, Erykah, get a sign and mic and I guarantee you'll make more money... even in Times Square.
