Chris Noth Has A Lot To Say About 'Sex And The City' And Carrie Bradshaw

Chris Noth has not played Mr. Big since 2010, but he recently got frank about the "Sex and the City" series during an interview with News.com.au, including a discussion about how his character has been misunderstood all these years.

"One of the things I tell people is that [Big] never tried to pretend he was anything other than what he was," he said. "It was [Carrie] who tried to pretend he was something he wasn’t. He was always honest about himself -- he never cheated on her. The relationship just didn’t work, and he went on to get married while she went on to … how many boyfriends did she have? She was such a whore! [laughs] There’s a misconception that Carrie was a victim of him, and that’s not the case -- she was a strong, smart woman."

Noth thinks 2010's grandiose "Sex and the City 2" got a poor critical response because it hit theaters during the recession. Also, because the movie took the ladies out of New York City and to Dubai. New York is "an integral part of that show," he said, but the New York depicted in the show is not the one he loves.

"New York was a much bigger, more interesting place than just fashion and glitz and all that crap," he said. "It’s become its own nightmare -- it’s become Dubai, which is why I don’t spend much time there anymore. It’s full of tourists, Times Square is Disneyland … It’s almost like New York became the [fantasy] city that 'Sex and the City' depicted, which I find particularly boring."

He compared "Sex and the City" to HBO's other series centered around female friends living in New York, "Girls." While "Sex and the City" was "materialistic, with the fashions, shopping and apartments," he said, "Girls" actually "shows the reality of the struggle" of what it's like to live in New York.

Noth has been synonymous with Big since the show first aired in 1998. He recently told the Sydney Morning Herald that "it can get a little tiring" behind the man behind such a big character. But Mr. Big may return if the "Sex and the City" franchise continues with a third film installment. Stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis teased fans by tweeting about some "news" earlier this month.

Noth, however, remained coy when speaking with news.com.au.

"Sure, I’ve heard rumors, but they’ve been sayin’ that s**t for 10 years," Noth said of the tweets. "It’d be a great thing, but for now it’s all just Tweety-pie s**t."

Amy Poehler Breaks Silence About Divorce From Will Arnett: 'It Really Sucks'

Get ready to feel sad about Amy Poehler and Will Arnett's divorce all over again.

In her new memoir, Yes, Please, the "Parks and Recreation" star delves into what life has been like since she and Arnett announced they were splitting up in September 2012.

"When you are a person going through a divorce, you feel incredibly alone, yet you are constantly reminded by society of how frequently divorce happens and how common it has become," the 43-year-old comedian writes. "You aren't allowed to feel special, but no one knows the specific ways you are in pain."

Poehler adds: "Imagine spreading everything you care about on a blanket and then tossing the whole thing up in the air. The process of divorce is about loading that blanket, throwing it up, watching it all spin, and worrying what stuff will break when it lands."

Understandably, divorce isn't a subject the "Parks and Recs" star wants to dwell on for too long. (It's "too sad and too personal." she writes, "I also don't like people knowing my shit.") But she does admit she's proud of how well she and Arnett have worked together to raise their two boys, Archie and Abel.

"I am proud of how my ex-husband Will and I have been taking care of our children," she writes. "I am beyond grateful he is their father, and I don't think a ten-year marriage constitutes failure. That being said, getting a divorce really sucks."

But hey, at least she's got the patron saint of divorcés, Louis CK, to serve as her sounding board. "As my dear friend and relationship sponsor Louis CK has noted, 'Divorce is always good news because no good marriage has ever ended in divorce."

Poehler is currently dating another funny man, "The League" star (and frequent "Parks and Recs" guest) Nick Kroll. Her memoir is set to be released on Oct. 28.

Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the Oscars. The news, first reported by Variety and then also BuzzFeed, was confirmed to HuffPost Entertainment by a representative for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. A press release announcing Harris as host for the 87th annual Academy Awards soon followed.

"We are thrilled to have Neil host the Oscars," said producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron in a statement. "We have known him his entire adult life, and we have watched him explode as a great performer in feature films, television and stage. To work with him on the Oscars is the perfect storm, all of his resources and talent coming together on a global stage."

Harris has taken home Emmys and a Tony, and has hosted both, but this will be his first time acting as emcee for the Oscars. He did, however, perform in the opening musical number in the 2010 ceremony.

"It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year's Academy Awards," Harris said in a statement. "I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show. To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true." Harris tweeted a video of the bucket list, which proves -- as we all knew -- that he has had a pretty great career.

Khloe Kardashian Laughs Off Rumors Lionel Richie Is Her Real Father

Rumors that Khloe Kardashian's biological father is someone other than the late Robert Kardashian have been swirling for years now, and Lionel Richie is the latest famous man to be named as the 30-year-old reality star's "real father."

In Touch is particularly hung up on this concept, and a source told the magazine that Kris Jenner had an affair with Richie in the '80s and Khloe is the product of their "sexual affair."

Khloe and reps for the family have repeatedly laughed off -- and denied -- previous reports that claimed her biological father was O.J. Simpson and Kris' former hairstylist Alex Roldan. It comes as no surprise that she's brushing off the latest gossip once again.

"I've had so many dads my head is spinning," she told Gossip Cop.

They stumble around, they smell bad and they probably shouldn't be operating a vehicle. No, we're not talking about zombies. We mean drunk people.

To welcome back "The Walking Dead" for Season 5, YouTube's Marca Blanca put together a recut of the show's intro with a bunch of inebriated folks replacing all the walkers, and it almost works too well.

"The Walking Dead" airs Sunday at 9:00 p.m. ET on AMC.

Thinking of Criticizing Nick Cannon? Here's Why You Should Hold Your Fire!

$

Move over, Katie Holmes. When it comes to handling your divorce, there's a new celebrity divorce role model in Tinseltown. His name is Nick Cannon. For those of you who aren't familiar with the term, a celebrity divorce role model is a famous person who conducts him or herself well during the process. (For those of you who aren't familiar with the name Nick Cannon, we'll get to that.) A celebrity divorce role model avoids public meltdowns, does their best to shield her kids from the toxic fallout from her divorce and refrains from airing her dirty laundry in public. (In other words, not Britney Spears.) For years, Katie Holmes has been my divorce celebrity role model. But Katie now has a little competition -- at least when it comes to handling the inevitable publicity that surrounds a celebrity divorce.

If you're like me, you haven't really been following the Mariah Carey-Nick Cannon split. And who can blame us? In the category of celebrity splits, "Nickiah" (or is it "Marick?") hardly registers on the give-a-care-o-meter. It's not nearly as compelling as TomKat's split -- or even Demi and Ashton's. Somehow, even Tori and Dean's breakup was more interesting -- and I'm not sure if that reflects more poorly on us or on them.

That's why I was surprised when a story about Marick's divorce caught my eye last weekend. And it was so intriguing that it motivated me to do a deeper dive. The result of all of this exhaustive research is a newfound respect for these two -- but most especially Nick.

Before you bury me in hate email, let me say this: I realize the leading theory on the cause of their split is that Nick cheated, but what I'm talking about here is how Nick is handling his divorce in the press, not how he conducted himself during their marriage.

In a recent interview on HuffPost Live, the America's Got Talent judge answered questions about how he deals with all the prying questions he gets about his divorce.

"If someone asks me a question, I know how to answer it. If I have to say, 'At this time I'd rather not say that,' or misdirect, 'it is what it is.'"

I'm pretty sure Nick meant redirect, not misdirect. But let's not let the one thing he got wrong distract us from all the stuff he's getting right, because the latter is way more important than the former. (And remember, he's an entertainer not an English teacher.)

Nick's quote reveals that he has actually thought through how to handle questions about his divorce. That means he's way ahead of most people going through a divorce, and lightyears ahead of the average celebrity. He has his "go-to" response all worked out. He politely refuses to dish, then he redirects the conversation to another topic. If I didn't know better, I'd think he'd graduated from Emotional Hardbody Divorce Boot Camp, because that's exactly what I instruct my clients to do.

I call it the two-sentence rule, and under this rule, you have a short answer rehearsed and ready to go. Your answer should go something like this: "It's been hard, but I'm getting through it. Thanks for asking." Then, when someone who has no business asking and zero need to know asks you about your divorce, you rattle of those two sentences and promptly change the subject. The two-sentence rule prevents details about your divorce from serving as chum in the water for crisis junkies and gossipmongers who love to feed off other people's divorce drama. Nick apparently figured all of this out without even going to a single divorce boot camp session. Impressive.

And you know what else is impressive? Nick's unwavering public support of Mariah. Through tweets and statements to the press, he consistently has her back. Here are just two examples out of dozens of choices: "I will forever be indebted to her for blessing me with our children," and "@MariahCarey is an amazing mother and I trust her wholeheartedly."

And earlier this month when asked about reports of Mariah's less than stellar performances in Japan, Nick said, "[Y]ou know, you might have an off-night here and there, but she's one of the greatest performers and entertainers of all time, she's not worried, we're not worried..." He didn't just decline to join in the chorus of criticism; he actually came to her defense. That kind of support from an ex during a divorce is as rare as it is refreshing.

Even Nick's answer about how his kids are handling the split put Mariah in a good light. "They're great. They're doing amazing," he said of his three-year old twins. "They're on the road right now with Mommy, on tour, so they're having a good time."

I know from experience that it's really hard for divorced parents to admit that their kids enjoy spending time with the other parent, and it's equally difficult for divorced parents to characterize the time the kids spend with the other parent as being good for the kids. Nick does both of these things without even hesitating. And note that he didn't say the kids were "with their mother," or "with mom" or even just plain "with Mariah." He said his kids were "with Mommy," which is the warmest possible way he could put it. Treating his kids' mom with warmth and kindness and valuing the time his kids spend with her are the best presents he can give to them. And lest you think that Nick is just one of those old souls who has always been wise and mature, let me remind you that his hit song in 2004 was Gigolo. He's come a long way in ten years.

Some people have criticized Nick for the shirtless photos of him that have surfaced revealing his new oversized crucifix back tattoo. The reason the tattoo is raising eyebrows is that it covers up the huge tattoo of Mariah's name that he had emblazoned on his back six years ago. You won't find me judging Nick for his new tattoo -- mainly because I already judged him for the first one. The way I see it, if you're boneheaded enough to get your love interest's name tattooed on your body, later having to get that tattoo modified or removed just goes with the territory. The new humongous crucifix tattoo on his back is literally now his cross to bear. But given how Nick is handling the rest of his divorce, I predict he'll bear it with grace and dignity.

Artie Lange Thinks William Shatner Is 'A Bit Of A Douche'

In his eight years on "The Howard Stern Show," comedian Artie Lange saw his fair share of celebrities come through. William Shatner was apparently the biggest disappointment.

Lange stopped by HuffPost Live on Wednesday to chat about his new standup special, "Artie Lange: The Stench of Failure," and he elaborated on his Shatner opinions.

"He was a bit of a douche. He acted exactly like a guy you would think would be the captain of a spaceship," Lange told host Ricky Camilleri. "And was pissed that he's no longer the captain of a spaceship. If that person existed in real life, that's how William Shatner acted."

Lange is not the only Shatner detractor. "Star Trek" co-star George Takei still has a sour taste in his mouth on Shatner nearly 40 years after the show was popular, calling Shatner "self-centered" in an interview with Bill Maher.

Conversely, Lange's favorite guest on "Stern" was New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor. Lange found common ground with him as a Giants fan, and also with Taylor being "a big cocaine fan."

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Elizabeth Pena, the versatile actress who shifted between dramatic roles in such films as "Lone Star" and comedic parts in TV shows like "Modern Family," has died. She was 55.

Pena's manager, Gina Rugolo, said Wednesday the Cuban-American actress died Tuesday in Los Angeles of natural causes after a brief illness. No other details were provided. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Cuban immigrant parents, Pena's Hollywood career spanned four decades and included roles in such movies as "La Bamba," ''Down and Out in Beverly Hills," ''Jacob's Ladder" and "Rush Hour." In filmmaker John Sayles' "Lone Star," she memorably portrayed a history teacher who rekindles a romance with an old flame, played by Chris Cooper.

Pena appeared on such TV shows as "L.A. Law," ''Dream On," ''Resurrection Blvd." and "Modern Family," where she played the mother of Sofia Vergara's character, Gloria.

She starred in the 1980s sitcom "I Married Dora" in the titular role as a housekeeper from El Salvador who weds her employer to avoid deportation.

Pena also provided her voice to Disney-Pixar's "The Incredibles," the "Justice League" cartoon series and Seth MacFarlane's "American Dad."

Pena most recently appeared on the El Rey Network drama "Matador."

"She was a role model, a truly extraordinary performer and an inspiration in every sense of the word," the network said in a statement. "Our thoughts are with Elizabeth's family and friends during this difficult time. She ?will be deeply missed."

She is survived by her husband, two children, mother and sister.

In a world of over-Photoshopped magazine covers, Kerry Washington's stunning Allure cover is remarkably refreshing. Washington's "au naturel" makeup lets her features shine: her big brown eyes and perfectly pouty lips aren't hidden by any color.

Washington's fresh-faced look is a departure from her usual red carpet glamour, but it only confirms what we've already suspected: this woman looks gorgeous in everything.

H. Jon Benjamin Picks Favorite 'Archer' Running Gag, Talks 'Bob's Burgers' Crossover Episode

You may not recognize H. Jon Benjamin if you saw him on the street. But you'd immediately recognize him the moment he speaks.

Benjamin is an icon in the animated comedy genre right now, voicing the title characters in wildly popular shows "Archer" and "Bob's Burgers." The two shows had a crossover episode on the season five premier of "Archer," which aired in February. Benjamin stopped by HuffPost Live on Wednesday to discuss his work on the shows.

Adam Reed, writer and producer for "Archer," had the idea to begin the season with a "Bob's Burgers" parody. All Benjamin had to do was put Reed and "Bob's Burgers" creator Loren Bouchard in touch and the rest was history.

"I put them in contact. That's all I had to do," Benjamin told host Ricky Camilleri.

Later in the interview, Benjamin was asked by a community member to pick his favorite running gag on "Archer," a show nearly built on running gags.

"I like the tinnitus gag. For some reason I always laugh at me having to unclog my ear after a gunshot," Benjamin said while impersonating the facial expression Archer makes while doing it. "I like that gag and I like the answering machines quite a bit. My message. Which has been like a treasure trove of running gags."

For those not acquainted with "Archer," the tinnitus comes from fellow agents firing guns near Archer's ear and explosions on missions.

"South Park" has released the full fake Lorde song, "Push (Feeling Good On A Wednesday)," from the recent episode in which it was revealed that Lorde is actually character Randy Marsh in disguise. Lorde expressed her love for the caricature, praising the episode's humor and "message of transgender acceptance." While the song was recorded by Sia, that didn't stop Lorde from taking a crack at the chorus herself. Further, "South Park" is giving the song away for free, so now there's nothing stopping us from singing, "Now we push, push to stand together / Because I am Lorde, ya ya ya," everywhere at every moment.

Foo Fighters Release 'Something From Nothing,' First Song Off 'Sonic Highways'

$

Foo Fighters have released the first new song off the band's eighth studio album, "Sonic Highways": the Chicago-inspired-and-recorded track, "Something From Nothing."

Starting off with some muffled guitar plucking and vocals from Dave Grohl, the song begins its monstrous ascent at the 90-second mark with some deep riffs. At 2:10, we get a few dissonant strums and a quick double-time from drummer Taylor Hawkins. A huge buildup controls the first half of the third minute, and after that it's nonstop ferocious rock 'n' roll. Grohl's gritty vocals are as domineering as ever as he sings out lines like, "Fuck it all, I came from nothing!" topped by an epic scream starting at 3:55.

“Something From Nothing” was recorded in Chicago with producer Steve Albini. Albini will also make an appearance in the first episode of the band's HBO mini-series, premiering on Friday night. The episode documents the band's recording process during their week in Chicago, as well as conversations with Chicago legends Buddy Guy and Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen. HBO will also be streaming the Foo Fighters live performance at the Cubby Bear in Chicago, where Grohl saw his first punk show, on their Facebook page immediately after the premiere airs.

Foo Fighters' "Sonic Highways" releases on Nov. 10.

Great news for Jude Law!

The actor and his ex-girlfriend, Catherine Harding, are expecting a baby together. This will be Law's fifth child, and his first with Harding.

“I can confirm that Jude Law and Catherine Harding are expecting a child together in the spring. Whilst they are no longer in a relationship, they are both wholeheartedly committed to raising their child,” the actor’s rep told People in a statement, adding: “They consider this a private matter and other than this confirmation no statement will be made. I ask that you respect the privacy of all parties involved and their families.”

Law, 41, has three children with ex-wife Sadie Frost -- sons Rafferty, 18, and Rudy, 12, and daughter Iris, 13 -- and another child, Sophia, 5, with model Samantha Burke.

Law has been open about parenthood, telling Parade in 2009 that “being a daddy is what counts.”

“I used to sleep until noon, but it’s not so bad to have to get up at 7 and give them breakfast," he said. "My daughter made me realize that if there’s anything that’s going to make a man of you, it’s having your will broken by a little girl.”
