Bright Colors And Classic Silhouettes Top The Best Dressed List This Week

$

This week we saw bright, bold and sassy looks on the red carpet and we couldn't be happier about it.

Jessica Alba stole the show in red, Chrissy Teigen made the most difficult color work and Rose Byrne shone (literally) in a navy gown.

Check out our favorite looks of the week and let us know if you agree.

Chrissy Teigen in Three Floor

chrissy

Of course she looks amazing in this yellow minidress. The asymmetrical hemline, subtle cut-outs and strapless neckline perfectly complement the model's figure.

Jessica Alba in Preen

jessica alba

It's so refreshing to see such a bright and bold color on the red blue carpet. And who says you can't match your lipstick to your outfit?

Eva Longoria in Max Mara

eva

Oh, the power of a crisp white shirt and black trousers. Longoria has a tendency to go overboard with her outfits, but this simple ensemble is so effortless and chic. Though the actress is actually wearing a jumpsuit, it looks like separates and also like something we could easily copy.

Rose Byrne in Max Mara

rose

The shimmer, the deep-V, the rich color -- we're not sure what our favorite element of this dress is. There are so many to choose from.

Yao Chen in J. Mendel

yao

Chen is pretty in pink in this strapless, minimal gown. The boning on the top adds the perfect amount of elegance, while her red lips makes her look just sultry enough.

Adriana Lima in Jason Wu

adriana

Slinky, sexy and sparkly? This dress is a triple threat.

Alessandra Ambrosio in Camilla and Marc

If you're ever in doubt about what to wear in the summer, a LWD (little white dress) is always the answer.

Kim Kardashian's Bonnaroo Outfit Is A See-Through Top

Most Bonnaroo-goers dress for the farm: beat-up sneakers, tie dye tank top, a bandana, jorts, etc. Maybe there's a crocheted crop top if you want to get all Coachella in Manchester, TN. But, naturally, Kim Kardashian opted for something a little more city-slick when she watched husband Kanye West perform at the festival for the first time since 2008.

Kim wore a sheer shirt, white jeans -- think of the mud! -- and high heels as she watched the Yeezus performance from backstage.

After the show, the newlyweds drank from goblets and soaked in each other's awesomeness. "#YASSSSSS just rocked Bonnaroo," she wrote.

The editors at HuffPost Style are shamelessly addicted to the teen drama "Pretty Little Liars." From the cast's killer wardrobe both on and off-screen to the dark storylines that tug at our heartstrings, an in-office recap session can go on for hours.

Now that Season 5 has started with the shocking surprise of who "A" really is, we've become totally immersed in the "PLL" fandom. Plus, actress and singer Lucy Hale's hair is enough to get us in front of the television.

Hale, who portrays Aria Montgomery on the ABC Family series, has the thickest and shiniest hair. The Mark cosmetics spokeswoman told People that the secret to her stunning hair is a "twice-a-week" shampooing schedule and dry texturizing spray. But, we still can't believe that it's just that simple.

As Hale celebrates her 25th birthday on Saturday, we're taking a look back at her best hair moments. We wouldn't be surprised if you bookmark this feature on your mobile phone or tablet to show your stylist at your next salon appointment.

Proof That Bill Nye Has Been Cool Since High School

Bill Nye is every kid's favorite person. Those days of walking into the classroom and seeing your science teacher putting an episode of "Bill Nye The Science Guy" into the VHS player made for victorious, thrilling memories that can never be trumped.

We all know Nye is the coolest guy ever, so it may come as no surprise that he was also a pretty cool science geek when he was in high school. The scientist and TV host posted a Throwback Thursday photo to his Instagram earlier this week with the caption "#TurnUpForScience." In all honesty, we never looked as pleased as he does in science class -- unless "Bill Nye" was playing, of course!

Also, let's never ever forget this "Bill Nye" Nirvana parody.

This game show host just set a Guinness World Record for "the most episodes ever hosed by the same presenter."

Who is, Alex Trebek!

Trebek hosted his 6,829th episode of "Jeopardy!" on Friday, June 13 -- yes, we said 6,829th. Trebek, 73 has hosted the quiz game show since 1984.

In a video announcement of the record, Trebek said, "This is special in the fact that I've been around for a long time, and I've had the good fortune to be associated with a good program like 'Jeopardy!'" In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter from earlier this year, Trebek said he'll keep hosting as long as he's having a good time and his "skills haven't diminished too much." You've still got the "Jeopardy!" skills, Trebek.

Oh joyous day! Kelly Clarkson has given birth to her first child, a baby girl, River Rose Blackstock, on June 12. Clarkson tweeted the news and said, "Our baby girl River Rose Blackstock arrived on June 12th! Thank you everyone for all of your well wishes! Brandon and I are on cloud 9!! :)"

The singer, 32, first announced she and Blackstock are expecting via Twitter last November. Clarkson excitedly tweeted:

This, days after she told Jay Leno on air that she and Blackstock "are not announcing anything right now! ... Practice makes perfect! We're trying, trying, trying … like rabbits!"

In January, the "American Idol" alumna revealed they are having a girl. "Only a girl could cause this much drama with all this vomiting ha!" she tweeted at the time.

Clarkson has been upfront about the downside of pregnancy, telling Ellen DeGeneres that she vomits "a good dozen times a day." She also revealed that she and her husband had already picked out a unisex name for the child.

Courtney Robertson Reveals Secrets About 'The Bachelor' And The Fantasy Suite In New Book

In Courtney Robertson's new book, "I Didn't Come Here To Make Friends," the former "The Bachelor" contestant reveals details about what it's like to really be on the ABC show and what taking a trip to the Fantasy Suite actually means.

Viewers who watched Robertson on Season 16 of "The Bachelor" saw her as the villain who broke the franchise's unwritten rules by skinny dipping with bachelor Ben Flajnik. “To answer your question, yes. Ben and I did have sex in the ocean. On-camera,” Robertson wrote in her new memoir, according to Page Six. “It was immediate but it was only for about 20 seconds and, um, it was just the tip.”

She also confirmed the couple's trip to the Fantasy Suite saw more than just the tip. ABC never overtly reveals if couples have sex during that date -- the one time where they're left completely alone and are away from cameras -- but Robertson revealed she and Flajnik had sex three times. She also noted that the producers didn't leave condoms (just rose petals and candles, apparently). She wrote, “Ten minutes after we were in the cottage, the camera crews, handlers, and producers scrammed, and we were completely alone for the first time ever. We immediately ripped each other's clothes off and had intense, passionate sex on the couch in front of the fire." She later added, "We did every position under the sun, but I believe I sealed the deal when we successfully completed the reverse cowgirl." They also listened to Bon Iver.

courtney robertson

Robertson also opened up about the show's casting and audition process. She said that during the 12-hour final audition, she was asked to fill out a 150-question survey and was asked if she took birth control pills. Once she made it on "The Bachelor," she was famous for using the reality show cliche, "I'm not here to make friends" over and over, but insists in her book that she was very close with the production crew. “I was like, ‘These are my friends — I want to make their job as easy as possible.’ I didn’t say ‘no’ to a lot of the questions," she said.

Flajnik and Robertson got engaged at the end of the show, but split up a few months later. At the time of the break-up in 2012, Flajnik told Life & Style, "She just had me fooled."

"I'm Not Here To Make Friends: Confessions Of A Reality Show Villain" is out June 24.

Damn you, Chrissy Teigen! Not only do you have a smoking hot body, bubbly personality and a sexy singing husband, but you've also got some seriously stunning hair.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model stunned at Spike TV's Guys' Choice Awards with envy-inducing beachy waves. For the record: Our hair never looks like that after a day at the shore. But we come close with sea salt spray and a clipless curling iron.

See if for yourself below, plus more standout hair and makeup looks.

BEST: Chrissy Teigen

The 28-year-old model looks absolutely stunning with her sun-kissed wavy hair and summer makeup.

BEST: Jessica Alba

Swanepoel proves that you can never go wrong with sexy, tousled hair, smokey eye makeup and a nude pout.

BEST: Gabrielle Union

The "Think Like a Man 2" star keeps it classy with slicked-back hair, wispy false lashes and red lipstick.

BEST: Kelly Obsourne

Kelly's undercut is finally growing on us. Her winged-out liner and lavender lip color add the finishing touch to this rockin' hairdo.

WORST: Lala Anthony

lala anthony

If you can direct your attention away from Anthony's cleavage, you'll notice that she's sort of just blending into herself with this blonde hair color and bronze makeup.

WORST: Coco Rocha

Coco's bowl haircut is starting to get wiggy with it, and that's not a good thing.

WORST: Zosia Mamet

Nothing is funny about this "Girls" actress' unkempt brows and bleeding berry lip color. We wish she'd put a little more effort into her beauty routine.

WORST: Jennifer Morrison

jennifer morrison

Morrison's porcelain complexion looks washed-out when covered in this metallic eyeshadow, unflattering shade of bronzer and pink lipstick.

WORST: Regina Hall

Yet another disappointment from a "Think Like a Man 2" cast member. Hall's bob hairstyle, thick brows, false eyelashes and turquoise eyeliner makes it look as though she's trying too hard.

Happy 50th Birthday Courteney Cox

$

If it's not too trite to hail a skinny-assed, multi-millionaire Hollywood film star as proof that life begins at 50, then hello Courteney Cox. And a happy birthday. By Alexa Baracaia for High50

The former Friends star is the second of her Central Perk cohorts to hit the big five-oh, after co-star Lisa Kudrow, but she's doing it in some style.

Not merely is she kick-starting her mid-century with a new, younger rock star boyfriend (who, rumours suggest, she plans to marry at a birthday bash at her Malibu mansion) but she's just released her directorial movie debut, too.

OK, so her fella is more 'rock star lite' - we're talking Johnny McDaid from Snow Patrol here (copyright: "Most boring band in Britain") not Slayer.

And her directorial debut, Just Before I Go, was labelled a bit of a dud after premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival. ("A juvenile attempt to sandwich an abundance of big issues between half-baked humour," said The Huffington Post. Ouchy.)

Failed rebranding in Cougar Town

But give the woman a break. She was never the It girl, but we sort of like that about her. She didn't have the Hair or the Brad Pitt, but hair changes and Brad Pitt leaves you for Angelina Jolie. Plus she always seemed really quite -- how to put this? -- nice.

Heck, even the ill-conceived attempt to rebrand her as a predatory older woman in TV's worst-titled series Cougar Town fell flat, when, as co-creator Bill Lawrence recalls, "We realised very early on that this show didn't have the right tone and feel for Courteney.

"Originally, I saw it as almost an American Ab Fab, but I realised that I didn't love seeing Courteney in those situations. It's not her persona."

So what started with a decidedly iffy premise segued into a likeable, warm-hearted ensemble piece, for which Cox earned her first ever Golden Globe nomination. Friends plus 20, more or less. Her métier.

Her split with husband of 11 years, actor David Arquette, was notable for the absence of any showbiz-style bitching, with the pair pulling off a model divorce for the sake of their now nine-year-old daughter Coco.

A celebitch-free divorce

They managed to make their fourth Scream movie together while the marriage limped through its last days, then posed happily together at the premiere, with Arquette effusing: "We had 15 years of a friendship and love with each other and a child together. She's my best friend and I love her with all my heart."

If that sounds like guff, remember they reportedly sashayed through their divorce without a pre-nup and without lawyers.

Meanwhile, if Twitter is the window to one's soul, her handle might as well be @flowersandkittens. It's marked out by patter about her "sweet" friends, her pals' new projects, ice creams she's eaten, fresh pasta she's made, retweets for over-excited fans and not one single butt-baring selfie.

Even the Mail Online can't bring itself to be mean to her, with winsome references to her "gracious" poses, "wide smiles" and "slim pins". That's more than Demi ever mustered, with those darned wilting knees of hers.

We even learn how to "get" Courteney's arms (follow Courteney's lead and break one; pump your way back to fitness by having Jennifer Aniston show you how to use a cross trainer).

But we salute Ms Cox for better reasons than the fact that she has arms, and legs.

We salute her for some of the most classic TV sitcom moments of all time (never knock a slutty Fat Monica, people), for having a little bit of naughty behind the niceness (there's got to be a twinkle to a lass who's dated Michael Keaton, Arquette, Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz and iconic US music promoter Ian Copeland), and for being an architecture college drop-out who got her big break in a Bruce Springsteen vid - and has gone on to forge a top-notch TV and film career and a personal fortune of £45 million.

Courteney's down-to-earth charm

We salute her because Just Before You Go isn't an all-out dud: The Hollywood Reporter praised her "easy facility with actors", eliciting "fine work from the large supporting cast" (that nice thing again).

We salute her for having a kid who is snapped running in the rain and slurping ice cream in tracksuit bottoms and sneakers, not teetering around town in mini-slingbacks and Saint Laurent.

We salute her for being honest about ageing: "[It's] gonna be brutal... I think it's hard, the fact that there's a certain age that we can't have kids any more.

"My doctor told me today that he just delivered a baby and the woman was 48. That's awesome, but it's rare. It's a miracle, you know?".

And we salute her because her boyfriend says this: "Courteney is the most completely confident person I've ever met -- at everything.

"She gets music. She gets art. She understands the way a scene is constructed, how dialogue works and she puts it all together in her mind and explains it to the world.

"And [she] makes me laugh and squirm and jump."

Nice.

It was also awful, because Skype froze. So, hopefully David Cronenberg doesn't know how to take a screen shot.

Casey Kasem Dead At 82 Years Old

Casey Kasem died Sunday morning, June 15, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington. The legendary broadcaster was taken off life support at age 82.

Kasem suffered from a progressive form of dementia known as Lewy Body Disease.

On June 11, a Los Angeles judge ruled that Kasem's daughter could resume end of life proceedings, withholding food, fluids and medication, on the understanding that he was mentally incapacitated and life support would only prolong his pain.

His death Sunday morning followed years of feuding between his children and second wife, Jean. In October of 2013, Kasem's children claimed that Jean would not allow them to see their father, staging a protest with signs that read "Let Casey See His Kids." Eventually, they came to a private settlement which allowed for visitation.

The news was initially announced by Kasem's daughter, Kerri, who addressed her father's death on Facebook.

Kasem will be remembered as the "the king of countdowns." He was best known for his work on the "American Top 40" radio show, which he hosted from 1970 to 1988, and again from 1998 until 2004, when he passed the job on to Ryan Seacrest. Kasem was also a talented voice-over artist, most famously voicing Scooby-Doo's pal, Shaggy.

He retired from radio at the age of 77, making his final countdown on July 4, 2009.

Kasem is survived by his children, Mike, Julie, and Kerri, whom he had with his first wife, Julie Meyer. He is also survived by his second wife Jean, with whom he had a daughter, Liberty.

HBO Fought 'Girls' Over That Controversial 'Money Shot'

Remember that time Adam Driver ejaculated on Shiri Appleby on "Girls"? It was a controversial scene, which left some to to ask whether it was the first time we'd seen a "money shot" on TV (not quite) and others to wonder if it wasn't a bit too graphic and gratuitous. HBO was among them.

"The biggest fight we've ever gotten in with HBO was about a cum shot, a money shot. They thought it was really gratuitous," Jenni Konner told The Hollywood Reporter at their comedy show runner round table. "They begged us not to do it. We said, 'OK, fine.' Then the next year, we had a story-motivated, emotional money shot, and they let us keep it. It really felt like we all grew together."

To be clear, this means there was another more graphic and gratuitous "money shot" that we were not treated to on "Girls." For those looking for similarly non-emotional acts of ejaculation, may we kindly redirect you to porn.

10 Things You Might Not Know About Casey Kasem

$
0
0
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Counting down the top 10 things you might not know about radio personality Casey Kasem, the founding voice of "American Top 40," who died Sunday:

10. Beginning in 1969, Kasem voiced the character Shaggy for the animated series "Scooby-Doo: Where Are You!" He continued to voice the long-haired hippie in TV, film and video games until 2009. He also gave voice to characters on "Sesame Street" and the 1986 "Transformers" movie, along with voicing Robin on "Super Friends." 9. Kasem's work on radio commercials was highly lucrative — and not nearly as easy as it might have seemed for someone so smooth on the air. "The greatest compliment that anyone can pay me is that after I say something, they remember it," he once said. "I'll go over a piece of copy until I've gotten the essence of what the writer had in mind, every nuance."

8. In addition to his radio show and voice work, Kasem was the co-host of a teen dance show on Los Angeles television during the 1960s called "Shebang." He also had a minor hit single during that time, "Letter From Elaina," and appeared in a few low-budget movies and some network TV series, including "Hawaii Five-O" and "Ironside."

7. While Kasem seldom appeared onscreen, his second wife, Jean Kasem, was a semi-regular in the sitcom "Cheers" as Loretta Tortelli and a regular in a short-lived spinoff, "The Tortellis."

6. Kasem gained attention in the 1990s when he blew up because of a staff error on his "American Top 40" show and his taped remarks, swearing and all, made their way into cyberspace. He told The New York Times in 2004 that he didn't know it had been made public until years later.

5. Kasem was a vegetarian and an activist against factory farming.

4. An Arab-American activist, Kasem called for a fairer balance between heroes and villains in the 1994 Disney Aladdin sequel, "The Return of Jafar." But he added, "We're not out there just to be so picky that we become a pain in the neck. We're there to do what we can to call attention to the sensitivity of not only Arab-Americans, but to any ethnic group."

3. As host of "American Top 40," Kasem introduced a romantic segment called Long Distance Dedications. Listeners would send in their dedications, and Kasem would pick a few heartfelt messages to read each week on the air, playing the love song that went with it. The first Long Distance Dedication Kasem played was Neil Diamond's "Desiree" on Aug. 26, 1978.

2. When "American Top 40" premiered on July 4, 1970, the top five songs were: Three Dog Night's "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)," The Jackson Five's "The Love You Save," The Temptations' "Ball of Confusion (That's What the World is Today)," ''Ride Captain Ride" by Blues Image and Freda Payne's "Band of Gold." When Kasem retired from "AT40" at the end of 2003, the top five tracks were: "Hey Ya" by Outkast, "Here Without You" by 3 Doors Down, "Suga Suga" by Baby Bash, "Perfect" by Simple Plan and Nickelback's "Someday."

1. "Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars." — The radio signoff Kasem used throughout his five-decade career.
