Sacha Baron Cohen Will Attend Oscars

Our long national nightmare is finally over. Late Friday night, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences lifted its "ban" on Sacha Baron Cohen, meaning the comic will be allowed to walk the red carpet at the Oscars on Sunday dressed as General Admiral Aladeen, his character from the upcoming comedy "The Dictator."

"VICTORY!" Cohen Aladeen tweeted with a photo of himself holding a gold-plated gun and two Oscar tickets (click below).

Though while Cohen-as-Aladeen triumphed over "the Zionist snakes of Hollywood," the victory didn't come without a price. According to TheWrap, many in the AMPAS are still upset about Cohen's planned red carpet stunt and don't feel its appropriate. Still, officials want Cohen's representatives and Paramount (the studio releasing "The Dictator") to provide details of Cohen's plans, so that proper security measures can be implemented.

"Do we have concerns?" said an Academy Awards source to TheWrap. "Yes. Did we say, 'Please stunt the red carpet?' No."

Of course, whether Cohen even pulls off this stunt remains to be seen. After all, he might just show up as himself. "Only Sacha knows," said the Academy source.

"The Dictator" is out in theaters on May 11.

Hidden Cameras To Stream Behind The Scenes Video Of The Academy Awards On Oscar.com

LOS ANGELES — Academy Awards nominees and presenters are getting even more exposure at this year's show.

Thanks to an expanded collection of hidden backstage cameras, which capture unscripted action near the green room, the lobby, the winners' walk and the Governors Ball, fans can click around on Oscar.com to see various perspectives that aren't part of the main telecast.

"We want to encourage them to be part of the experience," said Christina Kounelias, chief marketing officer for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

"We're giving fans the control to follow their favorites," added Karin Gilford of ABC's digital media division.

The Oscar.com site – a partnership between AMPAS and the Oscars' longtime broadcaster, ABC – will have more than a dozen cameras filming the proceedings on the red carpet, backstage and inside the theater, where a camera will be trained on front-row celebrity minglers during commercials. Visitors to the site can choose which camera they want to look through and change it any time. A running ticker will advise what's happening in front of the other cameras so star-watchers don't miss their favorites.

The celebrity surveillance, which is free, will begin with the start of red-carpet arrivals and continue with live feeds until the Governors Ball gets under way.

Oscar attendees needn't worry about too much exposure, though. There are no hidden cameras in the theater's restrooms.

We may know what Burke is up to these days, but what about the other "DWTS" winners? With the reveal of the "DWTS" Season 14 cast fast approaching, HuffPost TV is looking back at winners past to find out where they are.

Ed Helms On Andy Bernard's 'Office' Promotion

Steve Carell's departure from "The Office" left such a massive void that it took the show's producers months to decide who on the cast could capably fill his shoes. They ultimately chose to give Michael Scott's old job as Regional Manager of the Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch to Andy Bernard, and as Ed Helms told "The View" (weekdays on ABC), even the actors were kept in the dark about the move until a few weeks before they started shooting began on Season 8.

"It's been tremendous, it's really fun," Bernard told the panel, which included "Community" star Yvette Nicole Brown. "We didn't know who was gonna step into that role until a few weeks before the season started. It's just a testament to the friendship of the whole cast that everyone was kinda like, 'Whoever it is, we'll be psyched!'"

Reflecting on the current season, which has featured several less traditional episodes, like the raucous pool party at Robert California's mansion and half the cast on a month-long work field trip to Florida, Helms said, "I think this year the show has sort of had more of an ensemble celebration feel anyway, so it's just a joy."

Gordon Gekko Lives -- In PSA Form!

Michael Douglass has a new starring role.

The FBI has enlisted Douglass, an actor famous for his roles in Basic Instinct and Traffic, to encourage Wall Streeters and ordinary Americans to report any suspicious financial activity they may come across. Referencing perhaps his most famous starring role as Gordon Gekko in the 1987 film Wall Street, Douglass gets serious fast.

"The movie was fiction, but the problem is real."

Even though Douglass delivers the line with cheesy after-school special flair, he may be right. Federal prosecution of financial crimes fell to a 20-year low in 2011, according to a November report from a watchdog group.

"Our economy is increasingly dependent on the success and integrity of the financial markets," Douglass says in the PSA. "If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is."

Why This Oscar Win Is 'Even Sweeter' For Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep has proven yet again that age is no barrier to success. The 62-year-old actress snagged a third Oscar for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady," adding to a post 50 career that has included everything from a musical to comedies to intense dramas. This 2012 "Best Actress" win comes after a dry spell of 29 years: Streep's last Academy Award win was for "Sophie's Choice" in 1983.

To Streep, this win is particularly special: "It's an overwhelming feeling ... and I think it might be even sweeter that it's so late in my life, you know?" said Streep in the above video. "To be recognized when you're young and happening and on the way is one thing but -- well it's all so improbable in my life to be where I am at 62. It's like a miracle. And I'm really, really happy."

Streep has been nominated 17 times for an Academy Award, making her the most-nominated actor ever. In addition to her Oscar wins for "Sophie's Choice," "Kramer vs. Kramer" and now "The Iron Lady," Streep has been nominated for her roles in "The Bridges Of Madison County," "Doubt" and "The Devil Wears Prada," among others.

The Hollywood icon -- who some described as an underdog for the Oscar in 2012 -- joked during her acceptance speech: "When they called my name I had this feeling I could hear half of America going, 'Oh, no. Oh, come on. Why? Her. Again. No.' But, whatever."

While we'd hate to disagree with Meryl Streep, it seems there were plenty of friends and fans cheering her on as she claimed the "Best Actress" Oscar.

50 Cent: Feeding Hungry Kids In Africa 'Enlightened Me'

WASHINGTON -- When 50 Cent announced that part of the proceeds from his new energy drink would be used to help fight hunger in Africa, some questioned whether his motives were genuine.

But the rapper says he's making a difference, and since a visit to the continent earlier this month, he's a changed man.

"It enlightened me in different ways," 50 Cent said. "To actually see people under the circumstances that I saw was a totally different experience. I don't think you can prepare yourself for that, no matter how many times you've seen the images."

The rapper-turned-humanitarian flew to Kenya and Somalia with World Food Program earlier this month to witness the effects of hunger firsthand. He has a goal to provide one billion meals to hungry children over the next five years. Every purchase of Street King, an energy drink the rapper promotes and launched last fall, will provide a meal for a person in need through the United Nations' program. So far, the rapper says he's provided more than 3.5 million meals.

50 Cent said he was touched by the children he visited in Nairobi, the capitol of Kenya. He said the children were oblivious to their living situation, and showed the same optimistic energy you would see from American kids on the playground.

"They have one meal a day, the same meal every day," he said. "There's nothing there – within their eyes and the way that they interacted with each other – that would indicate that they feel deprived in any way. They are the exact kids that you would see here, and that was so confusing. It made you want to pick them up and take them home with you, but you can't. ... So you have to do something that makes a difference."

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, hopes to influence his peers in the entertainment industry and other young entrepreneurs to create a similar business model that gives back a percentage to charities.

But while art often imitates life, don't look for a softer side to his rap, which has depicted gritty street life. 50 Cent said he will always follow his grandmother's advice: "Just don't forget why they liked you to begin with."

Still, the trip did inspire him to return to the studio to record new material.

"I've put portions of my experience there in the actual songs, but it's so small that they'll have to listen to get it," he said. "I wanted to keep the record, creatively, in a space where when people listen to it, they just enjoy it before they can really understand what it was I'm saying; there's things on it that have double meanings."

Talk about a baby bump! A very pregnant Jessica Simpson was spotted out in Beverly Hills over the weekend, rocking some serious high heels with her ready-to-pop belly on full display.

You have to give the girl props -- many women have trouble walking in high heels under normal circumstances, let alone while being several months pregnant.

Though Simpson has stayed mum on whether she and fiance Eric Johnson will soon be welcoming a boy or a girl into their family, the singer was reportedly spotted picking up some pink baby gear recently. While the mom-to-be is anticipating her bundle of joy's arrival, she has also admitted she's looking forward to getting back into pre-baby shape.

"New goal: look like @jessicaalba after baby. Job well done lady!" Simpson tweeted earlier this year, later writing, "Looking forward to getting back into Daisy Duke shape ... I forget what having a waistline feels like!"

As Simpson gets closer and closer to her due date -- she revealed a few months ago that she's due "in the spring" -- she's also getting ready to enter another new stage in her life besides motherhood. Her new TV show, "Fashion Star," premieres on NBC on March 13.

Check out a photo of Simpson, as well as other photos from her pregnancy below:

Drew Barrymore is taking a cue from a ton of other celebrities (Dave Matthews, AC/DC, Train, Dan Aykroyd...) and getting into the alcohol business. Her new Barrymore Pinot Grigio from Northeast Italy -- the grapes are from Friuli Venezia Giulia, Trentino Alto Adige and Veneto -- is crispy and fresh, according to the distributor, Wilson Daniels. The fact sheet has more about Barrymore's new foray:

Wine is all about the journey. Any wine lover would have to agree. The discovery of new wines, new regions and new vintages is what keeps wine exciting to novices and enthusiasts alike.

For Drew Barrymore, it was the journey that propelled her to delve into the world of wine and with an eponymously named Pinot Grigio. A fan of crisp, fruity white wines, Barrymore has created a wine that reflects her style and personality: fresh, dynamic and fun.

The wine's label, designed by street artist Shepard Fairey, contains the Barrymore family crest,

The 2011 Pinot Grigio retails for $19.99 per bottle. It will be available starting spring 2012.

Carole Mallory: Oscar Winner for The Artist, Producer Thomas Langmann: Where Did He Come From?

$

0

What is it about the French that they love to embrace risk? Thomas Langmann just won the Oscar for producing The Artist. He sold his home and borrowed money from relatives to do so. Then he met Harvey Weinstein and the rest is cinema history.

Langmann's father was Claude Berri, whom I met on the beaches of St. Tropez in the early '70s. Berri was an actor and producer of some of France's finest films such as Jean de Florette and Manon du Source.

Each summer my ex-husband, Ron Mallory, and I would go to St. Tropez. My husband, who was a successful sculptor, would seek out collectors for his art while I would rest after having modeled in Paris. The plage Moorea was the equivalent of a casting session and film studio rolled into one. There were actors Raquel Welch, Romy Schneider, Jane Fonda. Producers, Sam Spiegel. Directors, Roman Polanski,Claude Berri, Bob Benton and the late David Newman who with Benton wrote Bonnie and Clyde. Newman and Benton were our good friends as we would party and sunbath together.

David Newman's close friend was Jean Pierre Rassam, who was an outrageous Lebanese producer. His sister was Ann Marie Rassam, who was married to Thomas Langmann's father, Claude Berri. Jean Pierre would entertain us under the sun with his great sense of being the buffoon. Pretending to be the buffoon. He was no buffoon. One never knew what he was going to say and this was his charm and I suspect he used this technique to get money out of potential backers for films. He produced eight films including Tu Va Bien and La Grand Bouffe. Once he introduced me to Philippe Rothschild, who was enormously conservative and yet Jean Pierre would arrive at the beach wearing a sheet and dressed liked an Arab out of Lawrence of Arabia while the rest of the sunbathers were focused on exposing as much flesh as possible. The look was tutti nudi.

Then there was Daniel Thompson, a beautiful screenwriter whose father Gerard Oury was the longtime companion of Michele Morgan. Sur le plage the French cinema was very well represented. As I write this I feel I am documenting the class history of 1972. Ron and I were invited to be guests of the Thompsons summer after summer and today Daniel is a director. She achieved fame writing Cousin Cousine. Her screenplay was nominated for an Oscar.

But it was Jean Pierre who was the most amusing of the entire gang. When I was engaged to Claude Picasso, Pablo's son, and living in Paris, I would have to sneak out to have a lunch with Jean Pierre as Claude was jealous of him. Oh, Jean Pierre was not good looking but he had pizzazz, was boisterous, not at all concerned with status quo like so many of the bourgeois French, and I loved him for this. He ended up marrying Carole Bouquet, the James Bond beauty. He died at a young age as he lived a fast life. But Jean Pierre had the fighting spirit that Claude Berri had as well. When Jean Pierre and Claude Berri co-produced the film of Roman Polanski's Tess, Jean Pierre invited me to go to the Oscars with their group as a date of Marcello Mastroianni, but I preferred to take a Quaalude and passed out on my living room floor along with my beau of that moment. Alas, I became sober soon afterwards.

What this whole crowd had in common was relentlessness and an unwillingness to give up despite tragedy. During my St. Tropez days Thomas Langmann was an infant, but he was raised with this mad hatter kind of joie de vivre which carried him through the deaths of his mother who committed suicide and his beloved uncle, Jean Pierre Rassam. Paul Rassam, Jean Pierre's brother, lent money to Langmann to produce The Artist.

But It is the embracing of risk for which he won the Oscar for Best Picture. It is the courage of his convictions that he inherited from this climate that I've tried to capture that is indicative of French cinema. Langmann sold his home and borrowed from relatives because he believed in an idea. This love of challenge is what Thomas Langmann is about and why he won the Oscar for producing The Artist..

Interview has a way of totally transforming its cover stars, like when it turned Anne Hathaway into an uber glamorous fashion vampire.

The latest style metamorphosis? Katy Perry, who headlines the art and culture mag's March 2012 issue (see a fuzzy, leaked version below).

If not for the giant headline, we probably wouldn't have recognized the popstar, who seems to have ditched her bronzed skin and blue hair for a dramatically chic makeover.

Between the cat-eyes and the dark, teased-up hair, Perry looks like a chic cross between Amy Winehouse and Megan Fox, non?

But fashion inspirations aside, we're guessing the intended theme was simply: eat your heart out, Russell Brand.

The March 2012 issue of Interview, featuring fashion faves Franca Sozzani, Christoper Kane and Sarah Burton, should hit newsstands soon. In the meantime, take a peek at Katy below... do you like her drastically different look?

Victoria Gotti's Surprising 'Celebrity Apprentice' Prediction

Victoria Gotti was fired Sunday night on "The Celebrity Apprentice," cutting short her stint on Donald Trump's reality show. Her elimination was a shame for viewers who hoping to see some major drama erupt between Gotti and "Real Housewife" of New Jersey Teresa Giudice. But stopping by "The Wendy Williams Show" (weekdays on Fox) Gotti was gracious about her time on the show, and offered up a surprising prediction for who she thinks could end up winning it all.

On the much-ballyhooed rift with Giudice that never really materialized, Gotti explained that, "Teresa and I had a kind of mix-up in the beginning. But then we clear the air and become good friends," she said. Gotti was also diplomatic about comedian Lisa Lampanelli, who she butted heads with on the show. "I don't have any thoughts ... If you want to win that hard, take it, go for it, I'll give it to ya."

When Wendy asked Gotti who her pick was to win it all, her answer seemed to surprise the audience. "Definitely Clay Aiken," she said, as the crowd gasped in surprise. "You know what guys, you have to understand, you're seeing the mean side of people and you're thinking, 'You have to be the meanest to win it.' In the end, that gets you so far, then you have to use your brain."
