Sherlock and Watson in a gay bar?

It happened, and you almost got to see it.

Martin Freeman, who plays the part of John Watson on "Sherlock," recently revealed to Radio Times that a gay club scene was shot for an episode during the third season.

In "The Sign of Three" Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Watson get drunk for Watson's stag night ("Bachelor Party," for all you Yankees), but there was a scene shot that didn't make it to the final cut.

“Doing the drunk stuff was lovely, but I regret there was one bit of that drunk stuff that was missing. There was the gay club scene," revealed Martin. "We were absolutely mullered in the gay club –- lots of topless men going past, and us just going ‘Why are we here?’”

Yeah, why would Sherlock and Watson be in a gay club?

Hopefully the scene makes it onto the DVD special features.

You'd never know 2013 was a bad year for Lady Gaga. Artpop tracks like "Applause" and "Do What U Want" quickly climbed the Billboard charts and inspired many a choreographed dance. The ever-inventive singer even managed to book a gig in space. But in a recently released Harper's Bazaar interview, Gaga opens up about her struggle with depression.

"I became very depressed at the end of 2013," Gaga told the magazine. "I was exhausted fighting people off. I couldn't even feel my own heartbeat. I was angry, cynical, and had this deep sadness like an anchor dragging everywhere I go."

In the intimate interview, the singer also spoke about overcoming her eating disorder and cutting ties with people who "only believe in [her] because [she] makes money."

The "Born This Way" singer has always been an advocate of loving oneself, and she explains that she fought off depression by remembering her talents and that she's "a human, not a doll."

"Depression doesn't take away your talents -- it just makes them harder to find," she explained. "But I always find it. I learned that my sadness never destroyed what was great about me. You just have to go back to that greatness, find that one little light that’s left. I’m lucky I found one little glimmer stored away."

Check out Lady Gaga in Harper’s Bazaar's March issue, online now and on newsstands Feb. 18.

Sorry. Ryan Gosling is not back on the market.

Rumors began to swirl this week that Gosling and girlfriend Eva Mendes had split. In Touch and Life & Style were the main sources of the latest gossip claiming the couple wanted different things in life and "knew it was time," according to Celebuzz.

But apparently there is no need to worry. Mendes' rep told E! News the reports "are just another round of rumors."

This comes days after a round of pregnancy rumors surfaced, which started after Mendes refused to go through the body scanner at Los Angeles International Airport. As it happens, she has never used the scanner, opting instead for the hand-check.

The 39-year-old actress began dating Gosling back in 2011 while filming "The Place Beyond The Pines." She has been known to avoid questions about their relationship during interviews, like last year with Net-a-Porter's The Edit magazine. “I’m sorry. I’m shutting down," she responded when asked about her handsome boyfriend. "I’m such a weirdo. I literally lose my ability to speak -- and you were doing so well."

Tom Sizemore Takes Back Bombshell Clinton Affair Allegation (VIDEO)

Tom Sizemore says the explosive recording in which he alleges a year-long affair between President Bill Clinton and Elizabeth Hurley is "the rantings of a guy that...had a very severe drug problem."

During an exclusive interview with HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri on the day the tape was published by Radar Online, Sizemore admitted that it was his voice but said everything in the recording is completely false. Sizemore said the tape was recorded four to five years ago when he was struggling with addiction and "wasn't with very nice people."

"It's not true. I was never at the White House. I've never met Bill Clinton," Sizemore told HuffPost Live. "I'm not denying that I said these things. I don't remember saying them, but it's an old video tape and they're the rantings of a guy...that had a very severe drug problem. Although I said it, none of it is true."

Sizemore said he has not spoken with Hurley, with whom he had a previous romantic relationship, but he regrets the trouble he has caused her.

"I'd like to apologize to her for any hurt or B.S. I caused her or the Clintons or anybody else I may have mentioned," he said. "I was like a drunk saying that I was going to be on the Challenger next week.... My perceptions were not the greatest."

He added that the allegations shouldn't harm a potential 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential bid.

"It's just ludicrous that the ravings of a drug-addicted actor would have any impact on who might be the President of the United States," he said.

Sizemore's manager Charles Lago joined him for the interview, explaining that he received several phone calls and text messages from an unknown woman who said she had the recording of Sizemore and wanted $20,000 for it. She later reduced her asking price to $10,000 and eventually $6,000.

Lago told HuffPost Live that his final communication with the woman was a text message that contained photos of Sizemore since picked up by the National Enquirer along with the message: "im not asking for tremendous amount 6,000 is my asking price or Tom is finished."

"I'm not going to be extorted," Sizemore said. Lago added that Sizemore's attorneys "are dealing with this as we speak."

George Clooney Has Declared War On Tina Fey & Amy Poehler... Matt Damon Is Collateral Damage

So remember that time, not so long ago, when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler cracked on George Clooney at the Golden Globes? It went a little something like this:

"'Gravity' is nominated for Best Film. It's the story of how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age."

We all laughed... why wouldn't we? Clooney himself, who wasn't present at the awards ceremony, even admitted later on Access Hollywood that, "It was a really good joke." But he also pointed out that Fey and Poehler had, "poked the bear with a stick."

Clooney's the bear, y'all.

And like all bears, George Clooney is also a noted prankster. Enter poor Matt "Garbage Man" Damon.

Apparently, Clooney Bear dug into his bag of tricks and printed out some stationery with Damon's name on it — a stunt he pulled using Brad Pitt's name a few years ago — and sent an unhappy missive to Fey and Poehler, excoriating them for this playful jab from the Globes:

"Matt, on any other night in any other room, you would be a big deal. But tonight — and don't take this the wrong way — you're basically a garbage person."

So, the two hosts responded to the fake Damon note the only way they could, with two giant fruit baskets accompanied by two letters. And from there, we'll let the garbage man take it:

Nice joke, Clooney Bear. Even better response, Fey-Po. Sorry you got caught in the crossfire, Good Will Garbage Person.

But is this the end of the story? Not quite. Clooney has a part two of his own, one that he promised in an interview with SiriusXM would be "downright dirty."

We are breathless with anticipation.

Philip Seymour Hoffman's tragic death sparked a conversation about celebrities and their personal struggles with addiction.

Hoffman was found dead of an apparent heroin overdose on Sunday (Feb. 2) in New York City after years of battling his addictions. He struggled with substance abuse in his twenties, but remained sober for over two decades before relapsing last year. Hoffman checked into rehab in May 2013 to deal with abuse of prescription pills and heroin.

Demi Lovato, who went to rehab in 2010, spoke out shortly after hearing of Hoffman's death, telling "Extra," “People don’t take it as seriously as it really is, it’s a mental illness and it’s a disease … There’s no pill that’s gonna change it. People need to have compassion for it."

"Being a former addict looking at it as I had a choice, because at some point in my disease I didn’t, I physically and emotionally couldn’t live without it," Lovato, who struggled with a cocaine addiction, continued, "that was my medicine to my pain.”

Here are other stars who've opened up about their addictions:

Aaron Paul and Michael B. Jordan have joined the cast of John Hillcoat's upcoming heist flick "Triple Nine." Paul's involvement comes as great news to those of us, including Paul himself, who have been having "Breaking Bad" withdrawals since September's finale.

Jordan is perhaps best known for his role as teenage drug dealer Wallace in "The Wire." Most recently, he starred in 2013's critically acclaimed "Fruitvale Station."

Paul and Jordan join an A-list cast that already includes Kate Winslet, Casey Affleck and 2014 Oscar Nominee, Chiwetel Ejiofor. Also joining the cast are Michael Pena, Gal Gadot, and Teresa Palmer.

"Triple Nine" begins production this summer and is scheduled to be released in 2015, but Paul fans don't need to wait that long to see him onscreen. "Need For Speed" arrives in theaters March 14.

Oprah Winfrey In Talks To Make Broadway Debut In 'Night, Mother'

For all of you who preface every major life decision with the question "WWOD?" -- What Would Oprah Do?-- we bear good news.

The almighty talk show deity slash Oscar-nominated actress is, according to The New York Times, in talks to star in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Night, Mother" opposite Audra McDonald.

This would be Winfrey's first time gracing the Broadway stage.

Directed by Tony winner George C. Wolfe, "Night, Mother" is expected to hit the stage in the 2015-2016 season. Winfrey would play the starring role of a mother desperate to prevent her daughter from committing suicide. Although Winfrey hasn't yet performed on Broadway, she's proved her acting chops in films including 2013's "The Butler" and 1985's "The Color Purple," the latter earning her an Oscar nomination.

"Oprah has had a longstanding desire to act on Broadway," the lead producer of the project, Scott Sanders, told The New York Times. "She understands how unique and challenging performing live on stage will be as an actress."

Oprah fanatics won't be all too surprised by this news. Winfrey has expressed her goal of performing on the famed stage before, telling The New York Daily News, "Broadway is definitely in my future," just last year. She's also currently working with Sanders on a Broadway revival of the musical "The Color Purple," which is also scheduled for 2015.

"Night, Mother," written by Marsha Norman, opened on Broadway in 1983, starring Anne Pitoniak and Kathy Bates. Brenda Blethyn and Edie Falco starred in a short-lived revival, and Sissy Spacek and Anne Bancroft took on the mother-daughter relationship in a 1986 movie.

Do you see Winfrey in this potential role? What creative venture will the multi-hyphenate queen accomplish next? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Ben Affleck And Jennifer Garner Are Moving To Detroit This Summer

When Ben Affleck becomes the next Hollywood actor to don the black latex suit as Batman, he'll be heading to America's own version of Gotham City -- Detroit! -- to play the role.

Jennifer Garner told local sports station 105.1FM last week that she was getting ready to pack up her entire family -- her children Violet, Seraphina and Samuel -- to move from Los Angeles to the Motor City while Affleck films his role.

"I'll be there this summer, all summer," Garner said, according to MLive. "My husband Ben is filming ... 'Batman' is shooting ... or whatever it's called. I don't know what it's called. 'Superman With Batman,' or whatever it is. But he is shooting this summer, so we'll be there."

Henry Cavill, who will play Superman in the still-untitled sequel to "Man Of Steel," was spotted by fans at a bar in Detroit's neighboring suburb of Ferndale.

Director Zack Snyder has also been seen scouting locations for the film in East Lansing, Mich., home to Michigan State University. The "Batman vs. Superman" film isn't expected to begin shooting in the Motor City until this spring. Many details are still unknown, but the sequel to "Man of Steel" will hit theaters in May 2016. It's reportedly the largest movie production to ever be shot in Detroit.

In the meantime, fellow celebs Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams could give the Bennifers a few tips on living well in the Motor City. Gosling was often spotted at Cafe D'Mongo's downtown while he filmed "How to Catch a Monster" last year.

Williams spent six months in Metro Detroit while she filmed "Oz: The Great and Powerful." Her daughter with Heath Ledger, Matilda Rose, attended school in the area. "I really loved Detroit ... [Matilda] was so happy [in Detroit]," Williams told WJBK last year. "And if your kid is happy, you're happy."

When Channing Tatum breaks out his infamous physique and dance moves, we can all feel the proverbial swoon. But the actor admits he's no longer the buff, toned man he once was.

In an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Thursday (Feb. 6), Tatum laughed when DeGeneres told him, "Since 'Magic Mike,' now whenever you dance we think you're going to take your clothes off."

"No, no. You definitely don't want that right now," Tatum giggled in response. "Right now, what me and my wife [Jenna Dewan-Tatum] like to call it, I am very 'fappy,' " he said with a grin. "I'm very fat and happy right now … I've been working for two straight years, and now it's some really needed downtime with the family."

Tatum, 33, who recently wrapped production on "22 Jump Street" and "Jupiter Ascending," is enjoying some time at home with his wife and their 8-month-old daughter, Everly.

"She's saying, 'Da, da, da, da, da.' I don't think she knows exactly what it means just yet, but it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter at all," he said, smiling.

As for how he feels about giving up his "Sexiest Man Alive" title to Adam Levine, a newly "plump" Tatum explains, "I think the only thing that you really pass on is the ability for your friends to just make complete fun of you for the rest of your life."

It's Amazing How Much The 'Perfect Body' Has Changed In 100 Years

$
0
0
A woman with a "perfect body" in 1930 would barely get a second look from Hollywood producers or model casting agents today.

Addiction and eating disorder recovery site Rehabs.com worked with digital marketing agency Fractl on a project looking at the origins of Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements, and how the bodies of ideal women have compared to national averages over time. And their findings show that models and movie stars are getting smaller than the average American woman at unprecedented rates.

Though BMI measurements don't distinguish between fat and muscle, and are thus fairly inaccurate in determining whether someone is obese or not, BMI data from the past makes for interesting comparisons. According to the Center for Disease Control, the BMI of the average American women has steadily increased over the past half a century, from 24.9 in 1960 to 26.5 in the present day.

In a similar vein, Rehabs.com found that the difference between models' weights and the weight of the average American woman has grown from 8 percent in 1975 to over 23 percent today. The bottom line? There's more of a noticeable gap between the bodies of idealized women and everyday people.

Picking up on this disparity, brands like Dove, Debenham's and H&M have made efforts to include diverse body types in their catalogs and ads. Organizations like The Representation Project are working to educate women and girls about media literacy and how to handle the sexualized images of women we see on television, billboards and the Internet. (Of course, we still have a very long way to go.)

In addition to the work of brands and organizations, looking back on the "ideal" women throughout the past century tells us just how arbitrary any vision of "the perfect body" is. Sex symbols have varied in terms of body shape, height, weight and tone, from the hourglass figure of Mae West to the waif-like Kate Moss. Though the diversity of these icons is limited -- they are all white, and none could be accurately described as plus-size -- it's gratifying to see that different body types have been construed as sexy, and likely will be again.

Here's how the "ideal body" has changed in the past 100+ years:

Stephen King Apologizes For Dylan Farrow Tweet About 'Palpable B----ery'

Stephen King apologized for a tweet in which he used the term "palpable b----ery" while weighing in on Dylan Farrow's accusation of sex abuse against Woody Allen.

King tweeted the message after author Mary Karr tweeted a think piece written by the New Inquiry's Aaron Bady about innocence, guilt and rape culture.

When King's response was met with backlash from the Twitter community, he backpedaled.

He later took to his website to offer a long-form apology for putting his foot in his mouth "and halfway down [his] throat."

"A good many people came away from my tweet about the Woody Allen controversy with the idea that I had called Dylan Farrow or Mia Farrow (or both) a b---h," he wrote. "That wasn’t my intention, but the conclusion on the part of some readers is understandable. I used the wrong word to describe not Ms. Farrow -- either Ms. Farrow -- but a sad and painful mess. Some people seem to believe that writers never use the wrong word, but any editor can tell you that’s not true."

He went on to say: "I have plenty of respect for women, and care about the problems and life-situations they face. My single-mom mother faced plenty, believe me. And I have no sympathy whatever for those who abuse children."

Farrow's open letter about the alleged sex abuse that occurred when she was seven years old was published by The New York Times on Feb. 1. Since then, many have spoken out about the accusations, including Lena Dunham, who called Farrow "courageous."

Woody Allen's lawyer, Elkan Abramowitz, denied the allegations, saying on behalf of his client that the story was "engineered by a vengeful lover."

Put on your Sunday best!

"Preacher," the popular Vertigo comic from the '90s is finally being adapted into a television series, with help from Seth Rogen, reports Deadline.

Rogen, along with his "This Is The End" co-director and screenwriter, Evan Goldberg, are bringing the fantastical religious epic to AMC. Sam Catlin, who previously worked on "Breaking Bad," will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

For those of you not trolling the comic shelves every Wednesday, the plot for "Preacher," as described by Empire magazine is: "A small-town preacher becomes possessed by the offspring of a demon and an angel, and sets off in search of the absentee Almighty to take issue with His management of the world."

So ... lighthearted viewing?

Seems like Jesse Custer (the Preacher) is the next perfect anti-hero to fill Walter White and Don Draper's shoes.

No word yet on when the show will debut.

Russell Brand Calls Philip Seymour Hoffman A 'Victim' Of Existing Drug Laws

Russell Brand is the latest celebrity to remark on Philip Seymour Hoffman's untimely death.

In an over-800 word essay published by The Guardian, Brand declares that while Hoffman's death is tragic, it was also "inevitable," due to our current drug laws.

Brand is a recovering heroin addict and alcoholic, who has reportedly been sober since 2003. He acknowledges the shock people have expressed that such a successful and esteemed individual as Philip Seymour Hoffman could have fallen prey to drugs and notes that anyone, regardless of age, status or influence can succumb to addiction.

As such, Brand is committed to removing the stigma that surrounds addiction and paints it as a character flaw, rather than a treatable illness. He remarks that our current drug laws paint addicts as criminals, when what they need is compassion.

"Addiction is a mental illness around which there is a great deal of confusion, which is hugely exacerbated by the laws that criminalise drug addicts," he writes.

Brand has long been critical of our drug laws, which he says are "gallingly ineffective." He writes that these policies remain unchanged because the majority of individuals who are affected by addiction are poor and "politically irrelevant."

Brand finishes off his essay with a call to arms for us to change the way we view and treat addicts.

"The troubling message behind Philip Seymour Hoffman's death, which we all feel without articulating, is that it was unnecessary and we know that something could be done. We also know what that something is and yet, for some traditional, prejudicial, stupid reason we don't do it."

"Star Trek" star Leonard Nimoy, 82, revealed he is suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) after photos of him sitting in a wheelchair with an oxygen mask hit the web.

According to the COPD Foundation, "COPD is an umbrella term used to describe progressive lung diseases including emphysema, chronic bronchitis, refractory (non-reversible) asthma, and some forms of bronchiectasis." It is characterized by increasing breathlessness.

Nimoy took on the role of Spock in 1966, notes the BBC.

The British Independent adds that although he stopped attending "Star Trek" conventions in 2011, Nimoy made a cameo as Spock in the 2013 film "Star Trek Into Darkness," and a number of guest appearances in the science fiction series "Fringe," which ran until 2013.

Despite his current condition, E! News reports that he is still involved in work commitments and "anything involving the Trek world."
