Ray Price Memorial Packed With Hundreds Of Fans And Loved Ones

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas (AP) — Country Music Hall of Fame member Ray Price was remembered at a memorial service on Saturday in his East Texas hometown as a musical innovator and a gentleman.

Hundreds of people packed the service in Mount Pleasant, the town about 110 miles northeast of Dallas where Price had lived for 31 years. At the service, long-time country radio personality Bill Mack of Fort Worth read a statement from Willie Nelson.

Nelson wrote that, "Without a Ray Price, there wouldn't have been a Willie Nelson." Price gave Nelson his first big break when he hired Nelson to play bass in his band, The Cherokee Cowboys, after Donald Lytle, better known as Johnny Paycheck, quit.

"He asked me, 'Can you play bass?'" wrote Nelson. "I said, 'Who can't play bass?'"

"Well, he found out I can't play bass," said Mack, as he finished Nelson's anecdote.

Price died from pancreatic cancer on Monday at the ranch he owned with his wife, Janie, outside Mount Pleasant. He was 87.

The Mount Pleasant Daily Tribune reported that during the memorial service inside the First Baptist Church, a country music quartet played various Price songs, including "In the Garden", "Danny Boy" and "Let's Make a Memory Today."

Dallas Wayne, a SiriusXM satellite radio DJ for the country channel Willie's Roadhouse, said Price was a gentleman off the stage as well as on it, possessing "heart and soul, grace, dignity, elegance and character."

Eddie Stubbs, a radio host with the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville offered his condolences from the county music industry, the newspaper reported.

"He was as good as any of his contemporaries," Stubbs said, "and no one was his superior."

Over his career, Price earned the respect of his colleagues by constantly perfecting his craft, Stubbs said.

"As a result, his voice is just as fresh today as it was 65 years ago," he said.

Price is credited with changing the sound of country music as he collaborated with the genre's biggest stars, and he remained relevant for more than half a century.

He recorded more than 100 hits and is perhaps best known for his version of the Kris Kristofferson song, "For the Good Times."

A funeral is planned for Dec. 28 in Dallas.

Kate Winslet and husband Ned Rocknroll decided to get a little wild when it came to choosing a name for their newborn son.

The couple welcomed a baby boy on Dec. 7, who henceforth shall be known as Bear, a rep for the actress confirmed to People magazine. The baby will take Winslet's last name, and sadly not be known as Bear Rocknroll.

The name is a popular one among the celeb crowd as Alicia Silverstone named her son Bear Blu in 2011, while Jamie Oliver named his son Buddy Bear Maurice back in 2010.

Bear is the third child for Winslet, who has two other children from her previous marriages; 13-year-old Mia Honey, whose father is Jim Threapleton, and 10-year-old Joe Alfie, whose father is Sam Mendes.

Winslet, 38, and Rocknroll, 35 (whose birth name is Able Smith) married in December 2012, and announced they were expecting their first child together this past June.

Italian '12 Years A Slave' Poster Ignores Star In Favor Of Brad Pitt

$

Brad Pitt has a small role in "12 Years A Slave," appearing toward the end of the harrowing film as a Canadian man who helps facilitate the release of the enslaved lead character, Solomon Northup. Played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Northup appears in almost every scene in Steve McQueen's film, and it's his journey into hell that is chronicled in "12 Years A Slave." Not that anyone would guess that if they only saw the film's Italian poster.

As first posted by Tumblr user Carefree Black Girl, and picked up on Twitter and other social media sites, the Italian "12 Years A Slave" poster makes Pitt, a producer on the film, the focal point, with Ejiofor relegated to secondary status in the lower portion of the artwork.

As BuzzFeed pointed out, other "12 Years A Slave" posters in Italy also prominently feature co-star Michael Fassbender, who plays an amoral slave owner in the film. (A Flickr gallery of the images can be found here.)

HuffPost Entertainment contacted "12 Years A Slave" U.S. distributor Fox Searchlight, as well as Italian distributor BIM, to see if either company could confirm the legitimacy of the poster. Fox Searchlight, for its part, has a much better handle on how to market the Oscar favorite to audiences.

Phil Robertson, 'Duck Dynasty Star,' Defends Anti-Gay Remarks During Bible Study Group

"Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson is coming under fire once again, having gone on the defensive about an extreme "fire and brimstone" anti-gay sermon that he delivered in 2010.

During a Bible study group on Sunday, Dec. 22, Robertson reportedly told his fellow attendees that he "will not give or back off from my path ... We are a bunch of rednecks from Louisiana, but I am not uneducated, I have a degree from Louisiana Tech. But this week I have been called an ignoramus."

As US Magazine and other outlets are reporting, Robertson continued his message by reiterating the fact that he has both held and been vocal about these beliefs for quite some time.

“This week I have been asked, 'Is this the first time you have brought up sin?’" he continued, as reported by the Daily Mail. "I said, 'Are you kidding? I have been traveling to and fro spreading this message.' Then he said, 'Well do you invite yourself to go and get your Bible and tell people what you are now sharing with us?' I said, 'No they are inviting me.'"

Robertson first landed himself in hot water last week when GQ released a profile on the reality star in which he made anti-gay remarks and compared homosexuality to bestiality. The 2010 sermon in question quickly surfaced in which Robertson states that gay people "will dishonor their bodies with one another, degrade each other. Uh, is that going on in the United States of America? Look around. God's not there... And boy is there some immorality going on around here. Does it get worse?"

Robertson is slated to return to "Duck Dynasty" in January.

Carlos Santana Reunites With Homeless Ex-Bandmate

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — A news reporter for a San Francisco television station has reunited rock guitarist Carolos Santana with a former bandmate he hadn't seen in decades and who now lives on the streets of Oakland.

Reporter Stanley Roberts ran into percussionist Marcus "The Magnificent" Malone while working on a story about illegal dumping last week, KRON-TV in San Francisco reports (http://bit.ly/JVGjGa). Although he initially was skeptical of the homeless man's claim that the Santana Blues Band got its start in his mother's garage in the late 1960s, Roberts checked out the story and confirmed it. And on Friday, he took Santana for a surprise visit to the camper where Malone has been staying.

"You don't know how afraid I am to let you see me," Malone said softly after he and the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer embraced.

"We cherish you," Santana replied. "It's an honor to be in your presence."

Santana has credited Malone with being an important influence on his Afro-Latin sound, according to former Rolling Stone magazine writer Ben Fong-Torres' book "Not Fade Away: A Backstage Ticket to 20 years of Rock & Roll."

Malone played congas on Santana's eponymous first album, but left the band in 1969 shortly before its seminal performance at Woodstock when he was imprisoned for manslaughter, according to Fong-Torres.

The two men told Roberts they had not seen each other since then. During their meeting on Friday, Santana promised to bring Malone a set of congas and to help him get on his feet.

Since Roberts' story aired, another original member of the Santana Blues Band, percussionist Rod Harper, and producer Bobby Scott also have expressed interest in reuniting with Malone.

Avril Lavigne Looks Lovely Without Heavy Makeup (PHOTO)

"What would Avril Lavigne look like without that dark, streaky makeup?" we've often wondered, lying awake at night.

Now we no longer need to wonder. The punky singer submitted herself to a "makeunder" for Allure, stripping off the signature eyeliner and mascara for the magazine's January 2014 issue.

Although the "Complicated" singer, now 29, admits that she wears black eyeliner literally every day -- "I do it when I'm just at home" -- we think she so looks lovely without dark-rimmed eyes. But with this gorgeous new photo by Sebastian Kim, we're reminded that it is actually possible to take off your heavy makeup -- even if you're the kind of girl who feels naked without it.

It looks like Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis might be spending the holidays in Iowa again this year.

On Saturday (Dec. 21), the couple was spotted watching a wrestling match between Kutcher's alma mater, University of Iowa, and Penn State, while surprised fans snapped photos of the two:

Kutcher and Kunis spent the holidays last year in Kutcher's hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and it looks like they might spend Christmas with Kutcher's family again.

With Kutcher's divorce from Demi Moore finally finalized, the actor has been more open about his relationship with Kunis. The former "That '70s Show" co-stars began dating in April 2012, and there have long been rumors the two are ready to make things more official in the new year.

Dwyane Wade Enlisted Kids' Help In Proposal To Gabrielle Union

MIAMI (AP) — Dwyane Wade enlisted some help with his proposal to Gabrielle Union.

The three boys that the Miami Heat guard is raising, his two sons and a nephew, all were part of the engagement surprise, Wade said Sunday when he spoke out about the big news for the first time. — His youngest son Zion held a sign with her name.

— His nephew Dahveon Morris' sign said "Will you."

— And his oldest son Zaire's sign read "marry us?"

Bewildered, Union turned to Wade and saw him on bended knee, then realized what was happening. An 8½-carat cushion cut diamond sealed the deal, and with that, Wade was an engaged man again.

"I planned it," Wade said. "No concrete for my knee. I planned it very well."

Wade told The Associated Press that no date for the wedding has been set, but expects it to occur in September 2014. He also said he's been working on finding the right ring since October, around the time that the Heat returned from training camp in the Bahamas.

He met with his jeweler several times in the last three months just to make sure everything was right.

"I kind of know my lady," Wade said. "I know she's simple, but at the same time, I just wanted the rock to kind of speak for itself and not do too much with the diamonds. I think it's a simple ring, but it's nice. It was nicely done ... it's timeless."

The proposal came Saturday afternoon inside the house that the couple has been building for months. It wasn't exactly a surprise for either — Union has been considered part of the family for some time, but the timing of the actual proposal caught the 41-year-old star of films such as "Bring It On" and "Think Like A Man," along with the BET series "Being Mary Jane," decidedly off-guard.

"Just a regular Saturday," Wade said. "My kids were involved in it. We asked her to marry all of us, not just me. We're a package deal, so it was cool."

On Sunday, Union wrote on Twitter that she was still "floatin" over the big news.

"I was truly caught off guard but happy nonetheless," Union wrote.

Some teammates were also surprised by the news, which became public Saturday night when the couple turned to Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to make the announcements. Wade and Union showed off the ring at a team Christmas party a few hours after the proposal, and fellow Heat star LeBron James said he knew for a while that the big day was coming.

"It took a lot for him to do it," said James, a four-time NBA MVP and a longtime friend of Wade's. "But I think Gab is perfect for him. I think D-Wade is perfect for Gab. For them to be at one now and for their whole family to come together, man, I think it's amazing. It's another step for him. I thought it was pretty cool. I'm all for it. I'm happy for them."

Wade said Union didn't hesitate in saying yes, though his kids were concerned that she would turn them down. It will be the second marriage for Wade and Union, who have been dating for several years.

"Terrific news about Dwyane and Gabby," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "It was a special night."

The end is nigh for Matt Smith's tenure as the Doctor. Fans have known for months that this Wednesday's Christmas Special entitled "The Time of the Doctor" will be Smith's last outing as the Doctor, and this interview proves there will be tears.

Jenna Coleman, who plays the Doctor's companion, Clara, visited the British morning talk show, "BBC Breakfast" to discuss the emotional farewell, and how her character will handle the next generation of the Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi.

"Goodbyes are always sad and never easy. That day where we have these words to say, these wonderful beautiful words that Stephen had written," said Coleman about filming she and Smith's final scene together. She continued, "We've tried to avoid them for as long as possible and not look at the scene because it's so beautiful and sad. It's hard to say goodbye."

It certainly is!

Watch the interview above to hear Coleman talk about the Christmas Special, Comic Con, and how her relationship with the new Doctor will be different.

The "Doctor Who" Christmas Special airs Wed. Dec. 25 at 9 p.m. EST on BBC America.

Earl of Grantham ... is that you?!

Last night (Dec. 22), U.S. "Downton Abbey" fans got quite the shock when Hugh Bonneville appeared in PBS' TV movie "Mr. Stink."

Check out Bonneville's drastically different look in the photos below:

"Mr. Stink" centers on the touching story of Mr. Stink (Bonneville), a homeless man who uses his foul odor as weapon of sorts, and Chloe (Nell Tiger Free), a teenage girl who befriends him. Although Chloe attempts to conceal Mr. Stink in her backyard, her smelly friend becomes a bit of a phenomenon.

"Mr. Stink" originally aired on Sun. Dec. 22. Watch it now at PBS.org.

Felicity Jones On 'The Invisible Woman,' Ralph Fiennes And Wanting To Play Male Roles

Even though Felicity Jones has starred alongside some of Hollywood's hunkiest men, she's coy about which one she finds most attractive. At least two of her partners-in-cinema draw a hefty buzz: Andrew Garfield in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," and Eddie Redmayne in the Stephen Hawking biopic "Theory of Everything." She's pretty open about the latter movie, but, like much of the gossip surrounding the next "Spider-Man" installment, mum's the word for the 29-year-old Jones when it comes to her debut Peter Parker adventure.

But all of that is secondary to Jones' latest movie, "The Invisible Woman." A period piece directed by and co-starring Ralph Fiennes, "Woman" tells the oft-forgotten true story of Nelly Ternan, the mistress of Charles Dickens. The illicit love story is based on Claire Tomalin's book of the same name, and it marks Fiennes' second venture from behind the camera following 2011's "Coriolanus." HuffPost Entertainment sat down with Jones to discuss the new movie, and along the way we discovered she's not a fan of physics but she does enjoy kitsch.

“Like Crazy,” your breakout role, was a low-budget picture heavy on improv. This is not. Which do you prefer?
I like both. They test different things in you as an actor, so I’m happy to move between both styles. I mean, the main thing is just being truthful with the character and caring about them, and that’s sort of the focus. And then as an actor, you want to be in different films and different styles and work with different directors, so that’s always the focus.

Do you find an improv setting to be natural for you?
I love improvising. I love collaborating in that way. It’s like extreme sports -- you never know quite what’s going to happen, so there’s a lot of excitement in working that way.

You’ve done a ton of literary projects: “Northanger Abbey,” “Brideshead Revisited,” “The Tempest.” Are you a big reader yourself?
I love reading, yeah. I studied literature at university, and since a young age that’s always been a passion of mine.

Have you read anything lately that you’d recommend to us?
Yeah, I just read a book called “Life After God,” which I thought was really beautifully written, and I’m just starting “Crime and Punishment.”

That’s a big undertaking.
Dostoevsky is a bit heavy, yeah. I don’t just read nihilistic books, though.

What did you know about Nelly before being associated with "Invisible Woman"? Were you familiar with her story at all?
I didn’t know about her, and the film in many ways is bringing her to the fore. I’m so happy she’s not going to be buried in history. I do think she wanted to tell her story, of her relationship with Dickens. She was a big, big part of his life, and she shouldn’t be forgotten.

What were your assessments of who Nelly was as a woman?
A lot of it is your gut instinct. I think she was very proud, I think she was very willful, had a very strong sense of self. She didn’t want to be just some floozy mistress; she wanted to retain her dignity and her strength within their relationship. But from the outside, obviously Dickens had a lot of power, and it was a difficult relationship. But I think she had enormous inner strength. I just think about her now if I’m worried, and I think, “What would Nelly do?” She was a real survivor. She had no money. They were so poor, her family, that she sort of struggled for survival and did it. She ended up living until she was 19 with her sister, and it was just the two of them, and I love that image, in Portsmouth, and she outlived everyone.

Even though he’s known for such serious work, I picture working with Ralph Fiennes to be fun-loving. What was his presence like on the set?
He’s very committed and very devoted to his work. He doesn’t take it lightly -- he knows that he’s very privileged to be doing what he’s doing. It’s the seriousness of the endeavor that I respect in him. And it’s not taken on lightly, and I love the way he approaches both acting and directing. It’s absolute focus, and he wants to tell a story as honestly as possible.

What was it like working on someone’s film who’s also acting in the project?
Well, it’s obviously a different environment than I’m used to, but Ralph just created a set where we were really free to explore, and it was very focused and it was just totally about performance, which was a luxury. You don’t get that. Directors often have a million things to be thinking about, so you don’t get that laser focus on creating a performance of integrity. That was an intense but fascinating experience.

Is there a recent part you wish you could have played, or perhaps a famous one you’d love to take on?
I don’t know, I think there’s going to be a fashion of women playing men’s parts. Like, I’d love to play Hamlet.

A reverse Shakespearean kind of thing?
Yeah! Or something just to try. Obviously people like Tilda Swinton have done it. I think that’d be fascinating to try a different psychology.

You recently wrapped “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” which I assume required much more physicality than something like “The Invisible Woman” or “Like Crazy.” Did you have to adopt any particular physical regimen to prepare?
I really can’t say that much about it. So, you’ll have to wait and see. It was really good, I had a great time. I really respect everyone involved in the project; they’re all wonderful, and I loved the comics growing up.

Oh, did you read them?
Yeah, my brother had the Spider-Man pajama set, and like all kids, we loved cartoons. So it was really cool to put a part of.

Can you tell us whether you’re returning for “Amazing Spider-Man 3”?
You’ll have to wait and see.

You also have “Theory of Everything" coming up. Did you have any physics knowledge before taking the role of Hawking’s wife?
I was so bad at physics in school. Physics and math and chemistry, I was like, “No, I’ll just stick to English and history, thank you very much.” It’s definitely not my world, and I think Stephen Hawking actually is someone who’s made physics a lot more accessible to people. That’s really his legacy, so I enjoyed reading his books.

So we should all go read “A Brief History of Time”?
Yeah, it’s fantastic. But the character I was playing was much more literary and artistic, and so much of the film is about their different attitudes toward the world, their different ideologies.

In keeping with the season, what’s the strangest Christmas present you’ve received?
I once got a vase from an aunt that had a monkey on it.

Do you still have it?
You know what, when I first got it, I hated it. But now I think it’s quite kitsch, so now it has a presence in my life. It’s like fashion -- it’s always changing.

Kill, marry or bang: Andrew Garfield, Eddie Redmayne, James Franco.
[laughs] I am definitely not even entertaining that question.

Okay, at least tell us which of the three you find the hunkiest.
I can’t, I’ll get into so much trouble. I’m friends with all of them, they’re all lovely.

So they’ll all want to know which of them wins your heart.
They’re all very talented actors.

Of course. Favorite movies of the year?
“Blue is the Warmest Color,” and I actually loved “The Look of Love,” the Michael Winterbottom movie, as well.

What sense would you be most afraid to lose?
I think touch. Can you lose one? Yeah, you can lose sensation. Am I going mad? Touch is a sense, right?

Yes.
What are the five senses? This is how gone from my own humanity I am.

Oh no, you’re not a science person, I get it. Sight, sound, smell, taste and touch.
Yeah. It’s a good name for a movie.

There: your first writing project.
Yeah, let’s do it.

Do you want to write or direct at any point?
At the moment, acting is my focus. But I wouldn’t want to rule anything out.

Well, if so, we just developed the title for your first movie, so you can figure out what that’ll entail. Not physics probably.
Yeah, no way.

I better get some kind of producer credit on that.
Oh, for sure.

Miley Cyrus' 2013: Twerking, VMAs, Feuds

Call her this year's pop-culture prom queen.

A year ago, Miley Cyrus was no stranger to us, of course. But who could have guessed how her star would rise — or rather, explode — in 2013, making this former preteen idol one of the most watched people on the planet? And so it seems only right to make Miley our tour guide (Kim and Kanye, you came close!) as we take our annual, highly selective, chronological tour through the year's pop culture moments: JANUARY

A new year brings an inauguration in Washington, D.C., but even the president admits the weekend's most important development is a bouncy new hairdo — bangs! — for MICHELLE OBAMA. Mini-scandal: BEYONCE sings the national anthem, only to admit later she lip-synced. At the Golden Globes, JODIE FOSTER makes an awkward, rambling but deeply compelling speech, hailed by many in the gay community as her long-awaited coming-out. LANCE ARMSTRONG confesses — to OPRAH WINFREY. Meanwhile, KIM KARDASHIAN basks in the glow of her just-announced pregnancy (proud dad is KANYE WEST) and says she looks forward to privacy — good luck! MILEY CYRUS, beginning her big year, is happily ensconced in her engagement to LIAM HEMSWORTH ...

FEBRUARY

Or is she? It's Oscar time, and MILEY, in a sexy backless white dress, makes news for who she ISN'T with at a post-Oscar party — her fiance. The Oscars bring triumph to BEN AFFLECK and "Argo," his somewhat-true movie about a truly fake one. And they bring us a new sweetheart: JENNIFER LAWRENCE, who trips onto the Oscar podium and into our hearts. Elsewhere, BEYONCE admits her inauguration lip-syncing, then rocks the SUPER BOWL with a spectacular halftime show, sung live, of course ...

MARCH

Things are heating up for MILEY — she's the March Cosmo cover girl. Of her major image change from those HANNAH MONTANA days, she notes: "Some of the worst things that have happened in my career ... have actually been what's best for me." That would be music to JUSTIN BIEBER's ears. In a bad start to a bad year, the 19-year-old pop star is booed by fans when he shows up late to a concert, struggles with his breathing and faints backstage at a show, is caught on camera clashing with a paparazzo, has his pet monkey confiscated by German authorities when he fails to produce proper papers ... and it's only March!

APRIL

Remember KIM KARDASHIAN's five-minute marriage to NBA star KRIS HUMPHRIES? No? Well, the couple's divorce comes through. GWYNETH PALTROW makes waves at the "Iron Man 3" premiere in a dress with see-through panels on both sides, leaving little of her lower body to the imagination and embodying a trend of bare skin on red carpets. It's clearly working: This month, she's named People magazine's Most Beautiful Woman. MILEY's ever-changing style morphs again: She seems to be ditching her engagement ring and is wearing longer hair with side bangs ...

MAY

But not for long! It's all bleached, spiky hair for Miley at the punk-themed Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she hobnobs with the fashion elite, cementing her status as someone we're watching this year. At the Cannes Film Festival, a real-life jewel robbery makes headlines, partly because it coincides with Sofia Coppola's new movie, "Bling Ring," about young bling thieves. BIEBER's monkey officially becomes German property.

JUNE

Time for a KIMYE update, and it's a biggie: a daughter is born! The couple name her North West, inviting inevitable comparisons to other oddly named celebrity progeny (Apple Martin, anyone?) MILEY watch: "We Can't Stop" is No. 4 on Spotify's most-viral list. Oh yes, and Miley's dad, BILLY RAY CYRUS, is getting divorced from his wife of 19 years, Tish Finley Cyrus. But wait ...

JULY

Never mind — the divorce is off. More important, we have a royal birth! As she emerges from the hospital holding Prince George, it's noted that KATE MIDDLETON, aka the Duchess of Cambridge, isn't concealing her "mommy tummy," a development cheered by fellow moms across the world. On the KIMYE front, President Obama doesn't help get himself on the Christmas card list when he notes that in his day, "Kids weren't monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing or where Kanye West was going on vacation, and thinking that was the mark of success." Ouch! MILEY gets a documentary on MTV, "We Can't Stop" is No. 2 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, and she says in an interview: "People just evolve, and that's all that's happened to me."

AUGUST

Maybe this is what she meant by evolving? August is the month MILEY will be remembered for most, thanks to her infamous performance on the MTV Video Music Awards, where she twerks her way into pop culture history in a teddy bear leotard that segues to a skimpy nude bikini. Of course, there's the foam hand, too, the constantly stuck-out tongue and the vulgar gestures. By morning, we can't talk about anything else. We'd like to stop ... but we can't!

SEPTEMBER

An "it" girl of the Hollywood-fashion nexus becomes even hotter. TV's "Scandal" actress KERRY WASHINGTON makes glamorous appearances at New York Fashion Week, where she judges "Project Runway" in a pretty Stella McCartney floral number, and at the Emmys, in an eye-catching Marchesa gown. MILEY watch: Her reps confirm her engagement to Hemsworth is off ...

OCTOBER

But hey, KIMYE's getting hitched! WEST proposes to Kardashian at the AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, with a screen reading: "PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!" He also makes an uncomfortable appearance with Jimmy Kimmel, an effort to defuse a feud stemming from a parody skit. MILEY hosts "Saturday Night Live," playing a salacious version of Michelle Bachmann. Maybe it's not a great idea to give MILEY advice: After Irish singer SINEAD O'CONNOR counsels her publicly to avoid being sexually exploited by the industry, MILEY strikes back on Twitter, mentioning O'CONNOR's struggles with bipolar disorder.

NOVEMBER

Time for some year-end awards. "Twerk" is on the shortlist for the Oxford Dictionary word of the year, though it loses out to "selfie." People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive is singer ADAM LEVINE. On the GQ annual list of least influential celebrities, Miley is No. 6, but don't feel TOO bad, Miley, President Obama is No. 17. At the American Music Awards, meanwhile, MILEY doesn't disappoint, performing "Wrecking Ball" as a duet with a giant, lip-syncing CGI kitten.

DECEMBER

More nods to MILEY's pop-culture dominance: MTV names her artist of the year. As for KARDASHIAN, she ranks No. 3 on GOOGLE's list of most-searched people in the U.S., the only non-singer on the list. Fiance West is No. 10. And Google's No. 1 is ... come on, did you have any doubt? MILEY also tops Yahoo's most-searched list. (KARDASHIAN is second.) And, as the year ticks to a close, guess who's going to be rocking out in Times Square?

Happy MILEY Year.
