10 Outfits From 2013 We Just Want To Forget

$

There were definitely some big fashion moments in 2013 -- and not all were ones we wish to remember. There were red carpet flops, wardrobe malfunctions and terrible color choices. To help jog your memory, we've rounded up the 10 worst outfits from the past year.

Cate Blanchett had a rough go of it during her "Blue Jasmine" press tour, Amber Valletta tried to incorporate too many trends at once and Miley Cyrus was, well, being Miley Cyrus.

Check out the 10 worst outfits we wish we could forget from 2013 and let us know which ones you want to erase from your memory.

Kim Cattrall

kim

We admit, the color is stunning on Cattrall, but that's where the compliments stop. She is wearing far too much fabric which is overwhelming her small frame, not to mention the dress is in desperate need of a good steam.

Ciara

ciara

Is she a nurse? A priest? A "Star Wars" character? Oh, wait, it's just Ciara.

Miley Cyrus

miley

When pasties make an appearance in public, we don't feel the need to say anything.

Ke$ha

kesha

Side-butt is never okay. This is the one look from 2013 we want to forget most.

Florence Welch

florence

This is what happens when bad dresses happen to good people. Pink satin can be incredibly sexy, but we wish Welch had scaled back as this outfit looks like an ensemble for the bedroom, not the red carpet. Oh, and all those polka dots are making us dizzy.

Jemima Kirke

kirke

We love Jemima Kirke and her edgy style, but this is one step too far. A leotard on the red carpet just never works, this dress needs a slip.

Cate Blanchett

cate

This dress is only okay on Halloween. It looks like the "Blue Jasmine" star is covered in cobwebs.

Helena Bonham Carter

helena

We've come to expect weird and wacky things from Helena, but this black-and-white layered dress is bizarre even for her. All the tulle is making her look like she's in a costume and the hair in her face is very sloppy.

Zosia Mamet

zosia

There are numerous things that are wrong with this ensemble. The color is washing out the fair-skinned actress, while the fit seems to be off. She also needs a tailor, as her gown is dragging on the floor -- not a chic look for a star-studded event.

Amber Valletta

amber

First of all, what is going on up top? There is some mesh, a few feathers and a little bit of sideboob. And it doesn't get better as you go down. Her pants are in serious need of a steam. This look is way too busy and, quite frankly, a little scary.

Kirk Cameron And Victoria Jackson's Anti-Gay Comments And The Backlash That Ensued

When "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson's anti-gay views became national news this week because of his GQ profile, the consequences were immediate: A&E suspended the reality star from their network.

With more evidence coming to light of Robertson's radical anti-gay sentiments, social media has been set ablaze with wildly diverse opinions. However, this isn't the first time that a celebrity has publicly made anti-gay statements that have resulted in both consequences and a public backlash.

Check out the video above for a look back at two other stars who have landed themselves in hot water over similar comments and the subsequent fallout they experienced.

Katy Perry Says Her Video With John Mayer Is 'More Authentic' Than Kimye's 'Bound 2'

$

It's the holiday season, a.k.a. the time of year to throw shade at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Katy Perry and John Mayer appeared on Friday's edition of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," and while discussing their new video for Mayer's "Who You Love," which features the couple riding a bull, Perry couldn't help but respond to comparisons to another famous couple's music video with a diss.

When DeGeneres asked if their video was, "a response to Kim and Kanye's 'Bound 2'," Perry said it was.

"Yes. I thought our response was a little bit more authentic because my hair was blowing in the right direction, though," Perry said as the audience roared with laughter.

In the "Bound 2" video, West and Kardashian ride a motorcycle together, with Kardashian facing backwards yet the wind is somehow blowing her hair behind her head. While the much talked about video was parodied by Seth Rogen and James Franco, who did a shot-for-shot remake they titled "Bound 3," Perry's claim that "Bound 2" is inauthentic may actually be a compliment to West's vision.

"I wanted to take white trash t-shirts and make it into a video." West explained during an interview with Power 105. "Yes. I wanted it to look as phony as possible. I wanted the clouds to go in one direction, the mountains to go in another, the horses to go over there, I wanted to show that this is the 'Hunger Games,' this is the type of imagery that's being presented to all of us, the only difference is there's a black dude in the middle of it."

So perhaps Perry wasn't really throwing shade at all, but we also couldn't help but notice that Kimye weren't the only ones dissed during the Perry-Mayer segment on DeGeneres' show. For the second time in as many TV interviews, Mayer took a shot at his own girlfriend.

"This is why I don't need to talk at home. This is why voice messages are just fine. I get these chestnuts," Mayer said as Perry laughed and looked visibly confused and uncomfortable.

When the couple premiered their video on "Good Morning America," on Dec. 17, Mayer pretty much revealed he's doesn't think very much of Perry's music:

"I come in the studio and she plays stuff and I go," putting his hands over his mouth as though he was about to vomit. "And then I'll hear a melody, 'cause she'll be writing something, I'll hear a melody and I'll be like, 'Don't...don't...' She, she was f**king...And I'll go, 'Come 'ere, come 'ere, come 'ere, I sang this into my iPhone while you were in there, just check it out.'"

The 10 Best Things Anyone Wore In 2013

It has been quite a year for fashion. There have been some ups and downs, but thankfully, there are certain stars we can always count on to look amazing. To sum up the year in style, we've chosen the 10 best outfits from the past 365 days.

Surprisingly, Miley Cyrus made our list (see Miley, covering up isn't so bad), while other not-so-shocking A-listers also found themselves among the best-dressed of the year. Kerry Washington proved that she most certainly deserved first place on Vanity Fair's "2013 International Best-Dressed List," and Zoe Saldana, Rooney Mara and Kiernan Shipka continued to be fashion forces to be reckoned with.

Check out the 10 best outfits you need to see from 2013 and let us know which is your favorite.

Charlize Theron in Gucci

charlize

This is one of the most sleek looks we've seen all year. The statuesque beauty is radiant in this light gray gown with strategic gathering. And clearly more stars need to start slicking back their hair.

Rooney Mara in Alexander McQueen

rooney

Not many people can pull off a look as avant-garde as this, but Mara can. The heavy detail on her dress works because of the light color and the short hemline, and the actress' sleek center part is the perfect way to ensure that the focus remains on the dress.

Olga Kurylenko In Elie Saab

olga

The French actress' '50s-inspired dress emphasizes her small waist and all the texture in the frock keeps our eyes moving. Her nude pumps are the perfect compliment to this midi-length frock, as they elongate her legs. Meanwhile, her red lipstick adds a touch of sex appeal.

Kerry Washington in J.Mendel

kerry washington

It's so nice to see color on the red carpet, and no one does bold hues better than Kerry Washington. This sleeveless chiffon sorbet-colored gown features a faux tank overlay, which expertly works to break up all the floral. Washington's simple black clutch and bright pink lipstick serve as the perfect backdrop to her jaw-dropping outfit.

Kiernan Shipka in Oscar de la Renta

shipka

Let us remind you that the "Mad Men" star is only 14 years old, yet she already has more style than most of Hollywood's leading ladies. This ensemble embodies everything we love about Shipka -- she always manages to pick classic, age-appropriate pieces that are still very fashion-forward. And this soft pink midi dress is just that.

Zoe Saldana in Alexis Mabille

zoe saldana

Now this is an Oscars dress. The talented actress chose an unconventional Academy Awards gown with a sweeping hem that exposed several different colors at the bottom, a bodice with floral appliqués and a tonal belt. Not only was her ensemble extremely figure-flattering, but it stood out in the crowd.

Sandra Bullock In Dsquared²

sandra

This has been the year of Sandra Bullock. Her body-contouring LBD with a lingerie-inspired neckline is incredibly sexy, while her tousled waves and fierce red lip bring this outfit into best-dressed of the year territory.

Miley Cyrus in Marc Jacobs

miley cyrus

Cyrus cleans up well. This gown reminds us of how stunning the star can be when she isn't showing so much skin. This sequin dress highlights her amazing figure and adds just the right amount of sparkle. If only Miley dressed like this more often.

Coco Rocha in Greta Constantine

coco

Rocha clearly knows how to get dressed. Her body-skimming gown with architectural cut-outs highlight her best features, while her bright orange lipstick is the perfect accent to the rich navy dress.

Allison Williams in Misha Nonoo

allison

We're head over heels in love with this outfit. The boxy button-up shirt paired with her black silk faille dirndl skirt is genius -- so simple, yet so elegant. Her beauty look is spot on, too. Williams' slicked-back updo and red lips are the perfect compliment to her effortless ensemble.

ABC Orders Shonda Rhimes Pilot

Get excited, "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal" fans, because Shonda Rhimes' empire just keeps growing.

According to The Wrap, ABC has ordered the pilot "How To Get Away With Murder," a law school thriller from Rhimes and "Scandal" writer Peter Norwalk.

Although little is known about the show, The Wrap reports that it will center on a group of law students and their criminal defense professor who became part of a murder plot.

Of course, "How To Get Away With Murder" isn't Rhimes' only new project. In August, it was reported that she had sold a comedy centering on "a group of friends who are brought together after an unexpected turn of events."

All of this sounds pretty juicy if you ask us. Make way for the new Olivia Pope(s)!

'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood Admits To Being High For The Entire MTV Show

Following her release from jail, "Teen Mom" star Amber Portwood spoke exclusively with Dr. Phil about her excessive drug use.

"This is actually my first time on stage sober, so I'm really nervous," Portwood confessed on Dr. Phil's show, in an episode which airs today (Dec. 20). "Every time you see me on that show ['Teen Mom'], I am high."

The reality star was recently let out of prison after 17 months. She's had a history of trouble with the law and was sentenced to five years behind bars after a drug relapse in 2011. Reportedly, the mother of five–year–old Leah Shirley was released early from the Indiana correctional facility for good behavior and participation in a substance abuse program.

Before her incarceration, Portwood spent time in a rehab facility to correct her reliance on prescription pills. She now admits to using drugs throughout her rehab stint.

She told Dr. Phil, "I was using a drug called fentanyl ... it's patches. I opened up the patch and I would eat the patch. It was like a three-day patch. It's very dangerous. I was using that the whole time I was in (rehab) ... in drug court and on house arrest. Crazy."

Portwood's drug days are now, hopefully, behind her.

Kelly Rowland's Small Wedding Will Be Just Her, Her Fiancé And A Pastor

The recently engaged Kelly Rowland wants to keep her wedding to Tim Witherspoon incredibly small. In fact, she doesn't want to invite any guests, at all.

"I think we just really want it to be us and our pastor. That's it," she told People magazine. "I mean, we are the only two that's going to be in the marriage."

Her announcement comes as somewhat of a surprise in the wake of many elaborate celebrity weddings. Even the private and quaint ceremonies seem to boast a star–studded guest list -- but that isn't what Rowland is looking for.

The singer wants her big day to be about her relationship with her manager–turned–fiancé, not a lavish show. "You have to pay for food for everyone and I'm not down with that. Everyone is there just to be nosy and see who I'm wearing, you know. I'm okay," she joked.

It seems as though her fellow "X Factor" judges and Destiny's Child members aren't going to be making the cut. We're looking at you, Beyoncé.

Praise Yeezus: The Best Kanye West Moments Of All Time (OF ALL TIME!!!)

2013 was Kanye's year.

On top of releasing "Yeezus," one of the year's best and bravest albums, he dropped plans to eclipse Wal-Mart, declared war on disrespectful late night show hosts, and became a father to North West, his daughter with fiancé Kim Kardashian.

So that's why we're not really into sending him up or tearing him down.

Kanye West has cultivated a career defined by his intelligence, outspokenness, and ridiculously high standards he's set for himself. True, those have led to some questionable decision-making, egotistical exclamations and foolish outbursts. But without those moments, he wouldn't be the Kanye we know and, yes, love.

So with that in mind, here are our favourite Kanye West moments, beginning with the one that even Obama maligned him for.

Ben Stiller Talks About Falling In Love With Christine Taylor

Ben Stiller is well known for his career as both an actor and a director. But apparently, his roles as husband and father have been an equally meaningful journey in his life. The actor opened up in an interview with Parade Magazine about falling in love and starting a family.

As a way to celebrate Stiller's new movie, "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," Parade asked the actor about the important adventures in his own life. Stiller explained that love hit him quicker than he expected when he started dating actress Christine Taylor.

"[Christine and my] relationship was a gradual thing that happened over a quick period of time, maybe seven or eight months. We just started hanging out with each other and it developed into, ‘Wow, this feels great. I really like this person. I think I love this person. I really do -– I love this person.’ It hit me out of the blue,” he described.

When Stiller proposed to Taylor, he was working on "Meet the Parents" and found laughable similarities between his life and his character's. "I asked her father for permission before I did it," he recalled of his proposal. "It was like 'Meet the Parents' in real life, because Christine’s father is an intimidating guy who owns a security company; we’re good friends now, but at the time I was in the basement rec room saying, ‘I really would like to marry your daughter …’ He’s a man of few words but he was very welcoming. I was more nervous asking him than asking her …"

The actor seems to have a comical outlook on many of his memories. He told Parade about his experience with having his children, now 8 and 11 years old. "When your wife is pregnant for nine months, you get used to the idea of pregnancy. Obviously, you know where it’s leading, but it almost becomes this abstract idea; and then suddenly the next time you go back to the house, you have another person living with you. Who you’ve just met."

Looking at his children now, Stiller says he's just wondering "how they became so well adjusted."

From Miley To Royal Baby, 2013 Through The Lens Of The 'Sassy Seniors'

The year 2013 was an exceptionally bizarre and eventful year when it came to celebrities and all things pop culture -- but not everyone is impressed.

HuffPost Live's Caitlyn Becker sat down with a group of "sassy seniors" to get their take on overexposed celebrities, the "Breaking Bad" obsession, and the selfie.

Here are some of the highlights:

On Miley Cyrus:
"I feel sorry for her," said writer Alice Carey, while boutique owner Lynn Dell Cohen was less sympathetic, saying the year has been one endless publicity stunt for the starlet.

On "Breaking Bad": "I liked it because it had white people selling drugs," joked author and activist Isaiah Reed, "which is as rare as an upside-down stamp."

While some older people say they were addicted to the chronicles of the meth-cooking high school teacher, some of the seniors said they don't bother with TV which can become a major time suck.

On the Kardashians: "The family has no talent. They can't sing, they can't act, but you know what? They're so clever. They have merchandised themselves," Carey said. We (and Barbara Walters) couldn't agree more.

The seniors don't pull any punches and even President Barack Obama wasn't out-of-bounds. Watch the video for more hilarity.

Lena Dunham On Working With Terry Richardson: 'Any Man Who Takes Advantage Of Any Woman Sickens Me'

When famous men are known to mistreat women, should other celebrities vow not to work with them? And how feasible is a boycott of someone high-profile when you yourself are trying to continue working in an industry that lifts up these alleged "creeps?"

In a Dec. 18 piece for Slate, Amanda Hess questioned why high-profile women continue to collaborate with the likes of R. Kelly, an accused rapist, Chris Brown, whose propensity towards violence for women is public information and fashion photographer Terry Richardson, who allegedly sexually harassed models.

Hess doesn't suggest that women simply shouldn't work with these men -- she recognizes that it's very difficult to stage a boycott against these people because there are consequences for women who speak out. She uses the example of Katherine Heigl, who is still considered difficult to work with after calling "Knocked Up" "a little sexist" back in 2007. Hess concluded that "star-led boycotts of industry creeps are rare" -- an unfortunate truth.

Within the article, Hess criticized Lena Dunham for slamming R. Kelly when Dunham has worked with notorious "creep" Terry Richardson. (Richardson photographed Dunham in 2013 for a spread in V magazine.) Dunham took to Twitter to discuss the complex matter -- and what ensued was a surprisingly interesting dialogue. Dunham claimed that having worked with Richardson should not call her feminist politics into question, nor should it nullify her criticism of alleged rapists like Kelly.

The reality is that women face specific challenges and barriers to success, regardless of how rich and famous they become. Perhaps this conversation will make people think more carefully about the artists they choose to support, and why -- and make us all think a little harder about the ways we collectively give successful "creepy" men passes that their female counterparts would never receive.

Duck Dynasty: Phil Robertson's Unenlightened Views and the Scourge of Reality TV

$
0
0
I care less about the predictably unenlightened comments of a reality television star -- and I use "reality" and "star" very charitably -- than I do about the fact we even know who he is and are discussing it.

Reality television: a medium that too often consecrates shattering mediocrities by marketing, monetizing, and exploiting them; a medium that, in many cases, is little more than a stifling den of pathological superficiality with no mirrors or windows and only one locked door.

It's easy to blame the networks that produce and peddle it. But they couldn't successfully do so without the complicity of an insatiable consumer culture that helped make stars out of countless obscurities, from Kim Kardashian and Perez Hilton to Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber, nearly all of whom did little or nothing meaningful to earn the honor.

We continue to give these manufactured celebrities national platforms in the form of radio, print, and television interviews used as mouthpieces to express their woefully unimportant opinions; and we, in turn, feign surprise and fabricate outrage and disgust when their ignorance manifests itself, as it inevitably always will.

Some of them may be do-littles, or noncontributing zeros altogether, but none of these pseudo-celebrities deserves another moment basking in and banking from the unwarranted effulgence of our gaze and conversation.

A&E suspended (note: not fired) Phil Robertson for his controversial comments. Bravo. They have as much of a constitutionally protected right to do so as he had to make them in the first place, despite the inaccurate shrills of the religious right and the cable network that enables them. But a genuinely helpful solution would be to program other avenues of for-profit entertainment that don't involve lionizing an anachronism that espouses played-out, antediluvian opinions most rational Americans readily dismiss anyway.

Meet the newest additions to "Real Housewives of Orange County:" Elizabeth Rovsek and Shannon Beador. According to Us Weekly, Rovsek and Beador will join Season 9 of Bravo's franchise, just as cast members Alexis Bellino, Gretchen Rossi and Lydia McLaughlin depart.

"Lizzie" Rovsek is a former pageant winner and owns her own business, Sun Kitten Swimwear. She and her husband, Christian Rovsek, have two sons. Adding to the rumor mill, Rovsek recently tweeted at "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" newcomer, Joyce Giraud. Perhaps they have a budding Bravo friendship?

Beador's casting has been rumored for weeks, and she has reportedly been out on the town with current "RHOC" cast member, Tamra Barney. According to E! News, Barney posted a photo of Beador on Instagram with the caption, "Excited to be going to the game tomorrow with Shannon & David (new housewife) can't wait to see you…" But the post is no longer on Barney's Instagram, and sources told E! that Bravo asked her to remove the photo from her account.

Other ardent fans and outlets have been speculating that "Chelsea Lately" comedienne, Heather McDonald, will join "Real Housewives" cast in Season 9. She's also been seen out and about with Barney, Vicki Gunvalson and Heather Dubrow, the only three returning housewives.

Bravo has yet to confirm or deny the castings.

Celebrity Week In Review: The Kardashians Take Over Headlines

Another week, another round of Kardashian news.

The famous family took over headlines this week as rumors about Khloe Kardashian's divorce surfaced and new pictures of Kim Kardashian's daughter North West graced Instagram.

Khloe filed for divorce from husband Lamar Odom on Friday (Dec. 13), but sources say she's already moved on with baseball player, Matt Kemp. Reportedly, the pair have been spending a lot of time together and were spotted heading to the gym just hours after the news of Khloe's split was announced.

But Khloe took to Twitter to slam all the reports, writing:

Khloe's sister Kim is facing her own dose of drama after she posted a new photo of daughter North on Instagram.

While many fans and followers cooed over the giggling baby girl, others took to social media to raise speculation about Nori's brows, and whether Kim has followed in the steps of former "Teen Mom" star Farrah Abraham, who admitted to waxing her 4-year-old daughter's eyebrows. When asked to comment, a rep for Kim said the allegations that the reality star grooms her child's brows "[are] false. Completely ridiculous."

In other news, Jennifer Lawrence gave another incredibly candid interview this week, sharing an embarrassing story involving sex toys and a hotel maid on "Conan" Dec. 18.

In the hilarious interview, Lawrence explained that she received a bunch of -- ahem -- butt plugs in a variety of colors as a joke. When she found out housekeeping was coming to her hotel room, she quickly hid them under the bed so the maid wouldn't get the wrong idea. "I came back and all of them were brought out ... and were in this beautiful display on my bedside table," Lawrence said. "I wanted to leave a note, like, ‘Not mine!’”

Oh, JLaw.

Speaking of candid, Miley Cyrus shared some honest words with Barbara Walters this week, admitting that her breakup with Liam Hemsworth was a long time coming.

"I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year," Cyrus said of the split, adding, "I don't ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can't be yourself."

Still, she admitted, "It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years."

Kris Jenner Gushes Over Kim, Kanye And Baby Nori, Calls Their Family 'A Dream Come True'

Kim Kardashian and fiance Kanye West are living with her mom Kris Jenner these days as their home is being renovated. But if you thought a house full of reality stars can get messy, well, you'd be surprised: mom Kris says the experience has been "special" and "amazing."

"The whole way it evolved has been a dream come true for me, as [Kim's] mom and ... North's grandmother," Jenner told People magazine at her #cirocthenewyear pledge party at L.A.'s Mixology 101 on Dec. 17. "Our house is blissful. To watch Kim and see her mature and grow and turn into the most delicious mother, who is interested and engaged and reads to her every day, and if she works, brings North with her –- it's very cute the way she doesn't want to be apart from her."

"And Kanye adores both of them," she continued. "The way he speaks of them, it is so delicious and I can't explain how in love with them he is. It's really sweet to watch."

Back in August, West was a guest on Kris' talk-show, "Kris," and gushed openly about his lady love.

"I could have people saying, 'This is going to damage your credibility as an artist or as a designer, and I say, 'I don't care. I love this woman,'" he said. "Or someone could say, '[T]he paparazzi surround you. ... Everyone knows you don't like paparazzi. Why would you be with this person?' And I would say, 'I'm being with this person because I love this person and she's worth it to me.'" He then called Kim his "joy."

Fred Armisen On 'House Of Lies:' Former 'SNL' Star To Guest Star On Showtime's Hit

Fred Armisen will guest star on "House Of Lies," Showtime's Golden Globe-nominated comedy about management consultants living large.

The network announced on Thursday that Armisen and Balthazar Getty ("Brothers and Sisters") would each appear in one episode of the show's third season, which premieres Jan. 12.

Armisen will play Vincent, "a neurotic owner of a company that makes a meal-replacement product," while Getty's role is "a wealthy hedge fund owner." Eliza Coupe ("Happy Endings") will also guest star in Getty's episode.

Other actors like Jenny Slate, T.I. and Mekhi Phifer were already slated to appear in the Don Cheadle-fronted show. In 2013, Cheadle won a Golden Globe for his role as Marty Khan, a ruthless consultant, and he's nominated again this year.

Recently, news broke that Armisen would guest star in Andy Samberg's Fox comedy, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." Looks like he already has a busy early 2014.

"House of Lies" Season 3 premieres on Jan. 12, 2014, 10 p.m. EST on Showtime.

Tom Cruise's Defamation Lawsuit Ends In A Settlement, Tabloids Take Back Their Suri Story

$

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The publisher of two tabloid magazines said it never intended to imply that Tom Cruise had cut all ties to his daughter after his divorce and announced Friday that it had reached a settlement with the actor over two stories it published.

Bauer Publishing and Cruise's lawyer wrote in a joint statement that the terms of the settlement were confidential. "Bauer Publishing, as well as In Touch and Life & Style magazines, never intended to communicate that Tom Cruise had cut off all ties and abandoned his daughter, Suri, and regret if anyone drew that inference from anything they published," the statement read.

Cruise sued the company over stories published in its Life & Style and In Touch magazines in 2012 that claimed the actor hadn't been in contact with his daughter for several weeks after his divorce from actress Katie Holmes. The actor sued Bauer in October 2012 seeking tens of millions of dollars in damages.

His lawyer, Bert Fields, called the stories outrageous and said that Cruise spoke to his daughter frequently while working on a pair of movie shoots that kept him overseas.

In a declaration filed in November, Cruise rejected the notion that he had abandoned his daughter, as the tabloid stories suggested.

"I have in no way cut Suri out of my life — whether physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise," Cruise wrote. He said despite filming back-to-back movies in the second half of 2012, he spoke to his daughter nearly every day and got frequent updates about her from Holmes.

Anna Paquin's Rogue Cut From 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past'

It looks like Anna Paquin will not be making an appearance in the upcoming Marvel movie, "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

As first reported by Entertainment Weekly, the "True Blood" star's mutant persona, Rogue, was left on the cutting room floor. Director Bryan Singer revealed that he had axed a rescue scene involving Magneto, Professor X, Iceman and -- you guessed it -- Rogue, from the final film. Unfortunately for Paquin, this was only scene that included her character.

Singer explained the situation to EW.com:

“It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go ... Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”

Singer explained that the cut had nothing to do with Paquin's acting, and that he would love to work with her in the future. Like a gentleman, Singer has already informed Paquin of the situation and says she "completely understood."

According to HitFix, however. there's still a chance Paquin could end up seeing some screen time after the film's upcoming reshoots.

Phil Robertson Will Return To 'Duck Dynasty' Episodes In January

It looks like Phil Robertson's suspension from "Duck Dynasty" may be just for show. Entertainment Weekly learned that on Jan. 15, A&E will begin airing new episodes of the show that include scenes featuring the "Dynasty" patriarch.

"The network also hopes the media and fan furor will cool down over the holidays and that tensions over shooting future episodes can then be resolved," Entertainment Weekly reports. “There’s no negotiation to have; we’re doing the show,” an inside source told them.

A&E suspended Robertson over anti-gay remarks he made in a GQ profile. The duck hunter-turned-TV star compared homosexuality to bestiality and also said, “It seems like, to me, a vagina -- as a man -- would be more desirable than a man’s anus." Robertson responded to backlash about his comments by saying, "I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me."

After A&E's suspension, Robertson's friends and family came out in support of him. Sources told E! News that the family was "very serious" about leaving the reality show after Robertson was placed on hiatus. "[Phil] is the reason for their success—they're not going to abandon him. They're also not about to let anyone threaten their religious beliefs," the source told E!. The family released a statement on the Duck Commander website saying, "We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith."

The episodes slated to air after the New Year are part of the show's fourth season, which averages a colossal 14.6 million viewers, including DVR playback, but there's no telling if a fifth season will happen. Based on the success of the "Duck Dynasty" brand -- the family even made a holiday album that sold surprisingly well -- we'd be surprised if the network let the show die.
