Allegedly Stolen Piece Of Paul Walker Death Car Posted On Instagram

A Tujunga man accused of stealing a piece of the wrecked red Porsche Carrera GT that Paul Walker and Roger Rodas were in when they died in a fiery crash appears to have posted a photo of the souvenir on Instagram.

Jameson Witty, 18, was arrested outside his home Thursday.

"Piece of Paul Walker's car. Took it off a tow truck at a stop light," Witty captioned the image on his social media account just before 11 p.m. the night of the crash. The photo appears to show the T-top panel from the roof of the car that authorities said he was arrested for allegedly stealing off the bed of a tow truck as it transported the wreckage to a police impound yard for investigation.

2013-12-07-photo.PNG

A second unidentified 25-year-old suspect is making arrangements to turn himself in to authorities in the next few days. It remains unclear what role each of the two men played in the theft.

On Instagram, Witty identified himself as a Paul Walker fan and previous images show he is involved in planning a memorial event for car enthusiast fans of Paul Walker later in this month.

While other fans, and even Walker's friend and "Fast and Furious" co-star Tyrese Gibson, had taken fragments left from the car at the crash site, those pieces were no longer considered evidence and had been left behind by detectives.

Witty and his accomplice face charges of evidence tampering along with theft because they stole a piece from the part of the car that was still in police custody pending additional investigation into the crash.

The remains of the high-performance car were towed away from the Valencia crash scene around 10 p.m. Saturday, and police say several cars followed the tow truck as it transported the wreckage to the impound yard for additional investigation. While the flatbed tow truck was stopped at a red light at McBean Parkway and Newhall Ranch Road, a man allegedly took the roof panel from the wreckage.

Witty remains in custody at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station in lieu of $20,000 bail, according to sheriff's records.

Walker, an actor and star of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, was a passenger in the rare Porsche driven by financial adviser and part-time race car driver Rodas when it collided with a light pole and tree before exploding, killing both men.

Officials have said speed appears to be a factor, but the investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.

Fans have flocked to the site of the crash, on Hercules Street near Kelly Johnson Parkway, since word of the actor's death spread early Saturday evening. There is a growing sea of flowers, cards and candles for the two men, and deputies have been regularly stationed near the site since the crash.

Warnings have been issued that cars parked illegally will be ticketed and that traffic laws will be strictly enforced after some fans began speeding past the site in homage to Walker's fast-driving character Brian O'Conner in the movie series.

Fans have planned a public memorial at the site for Sunday at noon that is expected to draw as many as 20,000 cars. ___

Sara Bareilles' Grammy Nominations Come As A Complete Surprise

Sara Bareilles became the surprise victor during Friday's announcement of the 2014 Grammy nominations. The singer's "The Blessed Unrest" bested Kanye West's "Yeezus," Lorde's "Pure Heroine," Justin Timberlake's "20/20 Experience," Bruno Mars' "Unorthodox Jukebox" and Vampire Weekend's "Modern Vampires of the City," among others, to land a spot amid the finalists for Album of the Year.

"The Blessed Unrest" debuted in July to favorable reviews but has failed to chart on many critics' year-end rankings, including those from Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly and SPIN. While the Grammys don't foster the frenzied prognostications that the Oscars and Emmys do, most who chimed in to forecast the potential nominees did not have Bareilles on their radar.

A glance at last year's Album of the Year contenders amplifies the confusion surrounding Bareilles' inclusion. The five honorees -- The Black Keys, fun., Frank Ocean, Jack White and winner Mumford & Sons -- all appeared on a slew of best-of lists, and each act garnered a bundle of additional Grammy nominations. Bareilles, on the other hand, only nabbed one other accolade this year: a nod for Best Pop Solo Performance, for "Brave." (The song will compete against Katy Perry's "Roar," which was accused of having lifted its melody from "Brave.")

"Brave," to a lesser degree, also feels out of place among its counterparts in Best Pop Solo Performance. The song peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100, instead finding a more comfortable spot on the U.S. Adult Contemporary chart, where it reached No. 2. Three of the category's other nominees -- Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man," Lorde's "Royals" and Perry's "Roar" -- each ascended to No. 1 on the Hot 100, while the fifth entry -- Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors" -- touched No. 2.

Regardless, fans of Bareilles are surely rejoicing in the chanteuse's windfall. The 34-year-old singer's "Love Song" was previously nominated for Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, the latter of which also hosted "King of Anything" as a nominee in 2011. This year's honors bring Bareilles' Grammy total to four nominations.

The singer took to Twitter on Friday to express her ebullience.

Bareilles will compete against Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories," Kendrick Lamar's "Good Kid m.A.A.d. City," Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "The Heist" and Taylor Swift's "Red" for Album of the Year.

What do you think? Is Bareilles' recognition deserved, or did she stampede over worthier honorees? Chime in below, and read about more of this year's Grammy snubs here.

Kanye West, The Next Nelson Mandela? Not So Fast

On Friday (Dec. 6), "The Daily Currant" ran a fake interview with Kanye West saying he thinks he is "the next Nelson Mandela." The fake and definitely not real interview (the Currant describes itself as "The Global Satirical Newspaper of Record") included such quotes as “Mandela was working in South Africa, which has, like what, six people? I started my magic here in the USA and then I took my business global" and “I liberate minds with my music. That’s more important than liberating a few people from apartheid or whatever.”

Yeah, it was pretty disrespectful. And a lot of people thought it was real. And those same people got really angry ... and wanted to put Kanye in prison "to make sure" he's the next Mandela. Most of them took to Twitter and even linked to the fake and definitely not real article.

The outrage quickly began spreading as more and more people did not realize the story was fake, including a major South African newspaper.

To be fair, Kanye has definitely claimed that he is Steve Jobs reincarnated in at least one real interview.

Kate Williamson has died, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. The actress, best known for her role as Mrs. Rogers in Ellen DeGeneres' '90s sitcom, passed away Friday night (Dec. 6). She was 83.

"She had been in failing health for quite some time," Williamson's manger Judy Fox said in a statement.

Williamson's death comes shortly after that of her husband, character actor Al Ruscio, who passed away at age 89 on Nov. 12.

In addition to her role on "Ellen," the actress will be remembered for her parts in such movies as "Disclosure," "Touch," The Hi-Lo Country" and "Dahmer," as well as television shows "Home Improvement" and "7th Heaven."

Fox Shrinks 'Dads' By Three Episodes

Things don't look so good for Fox's least successful freshman show. The Hollywood Reporter learned that the network cut back its order for Seth MacFarlane's live-action comedy, "Dads."

In October, Fox picked the up the comedy for a back-nine, bringing "Dads" up to a full 22-episode season. But now, the network will trim that order to just six episodes, and the season will run at 19 episodes.

This news comes just after the network announced "The Mindy Project" would go on an extended hiatus due to a crowded midseason schedule.

As of now, controversial comedy -- remember that racist pilot? -- "Dads" will air new episodes through Feb. 11. After that, "Glee" will take over the show's Tuesday time slot.

The Seth Green-fronted show's future looks pretty bleak. Do you think Fox should keep "Dads"?

Watch The 'Anchorman' Cast & One Direction Sing 'Afternoon Delight' On 'SNL'

When "SNL" announced that Paul Rudd would be hosting the show to promote "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues," they might as well have mentioned that a cameo from "SNL" alum Will Ferrell was all but inevitable. Not only did Ferrell show up in the opening monologue of last night's episode, but he and Rudd were joined by Steve Carell and David Koechner (also a former "SNL" cast member) to bring together the entire Channel 4 News Team.

The four men banded with the night's musical guest One Direction to recreate one of the most memorable scenes from the first "Anchorman" movie, in which they spontaneously jumped into an a cappella rendition of the Starland Vocal Band's 1976 hit "Afternoon Delight." Of course, this turned into a nine-person harmony with the addition of the superstar U.K. boy band. (Harry Styles was ten years old when "Anchorman" came out.)

'Frozen' Box Office Freezes Out 'Catching Fire'

NEW YORK (AP) — In its second weekend at the box office, the Disney animated tale "Frozen" cooled off "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" and the lone new release "Out of the Furnace."

According to studio estimates Sunday, "Frozen" led the multiplexes with a haul of $31.6 million over the weekend, taking over the top spot from "Catching Fire." Lionsgate's "Hunger Games" sequel had topped the box office for the last two weeks, but slid to second with $27 million in its third week of release. Relativity Media's steel-town drama "Out of the Furnace," starring Christian Bale and Casey Affleck, posed no challenge for the bigger blockbuster holdovers. It opened with $5.3 million, good enough for third place on the typically quiet early December weekend.

Ben Affleck Lashes Out At Paparazzi, Says It's 'Wrong And Disgusting To Follow Children Around'

Ben Affleck knows the drill when it comes to the paparazzi, but he's sick and tired of his children being followed and photographed.

In a new interview with Playboy, Affleck shares his thoughts on being in the spotlight and admits that although he's fine with photographers following him around, he's not okay with grown men chasing after his three kids -- Violet, 8, Seraphina, 4, and Samuel, 1 -- with Jennifer Garner.

“You can say what you want about me. You can yell at me with a video camera and be TMZ. You can follow me around and take pictures all you want. I don’t care. There are a couple of guys outside right now. Terrific. That’s part of the deal. But it’s wrong and disgusting to follow children around and take their picture and sell it for money,” he tells Playboy. “It makes the kids less safe. They used to take pictures of our children coming out of preschool, and so this stalker who had threatened to kill me, my wife and our kids showed up at the school and got arrested. I mean, there are real practical dangers to this.”

This issue is very important to Affleck and Garner. The actress teamed up with Halle Berry earlier this year to get Senate Bill 606 passed in California, which is aimed at protecting the privacy of the children of public figures. Beginning on Jan. 1, 2014, a paparazzo convicted of harassing a minor who has been singled out due to his or her parent's profession (famous actors, singers, reality TV stars, politicians, etc.) can spend up to a year in jail. Fines can also be imposed, including $10,000 for the first violation, $20,000 for the second, and up to $30,000 for the third. The law also allows the parent or guardian of the child being harassed to seek civil liability.

“My kids aren’t celebrities. They never made that bargain ... As their father it’s my job to protect them from that stuff,” Affleck explains to Playboy. “I try my very best, and sometimes I’m successful. The tragic thing is, people who see those pictures naturally think it’s sweet. They don’t see the gigantic former gang member with a huge lens standing over a four-year-old and screaming to get the kid’s attention.”

“The kids are always looking down because they’re freaked out and scared of these people," he adds. "And so they yell. Which is fine if you’re Lindsay Lohan coming out of a club, or me or any adult,” remarks Affleck. “With kids it’s tasteless at best.”

Kennedy Center Honors Celebrate Billy Joel, Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, Martina Arroyo, Shirley MacLaine

WASHINGTON (AP) — The "Piano Man" who became one of the world's best-selling artists of all time with such hits as "Just the Way You Are," ''Uptown Girl" and "Allentown" is being awarded the nation's highest honor Sunday for influencing American culture through the arts.

Billy Joel joins Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, opera star Martina Arroyo and actress Shirley MacLaine in receiving the Kennedy Center Honors. All of them have been playing music, dancing or singing since they were children — and have never stopped. Joel said the honor stands apart from his six Grammys.

"This is different. It's our nation's capital," he told The Associated Press. "This is coming more from my country than just people who come to see me. It's a little overwhelming."

The 64-year-old musician born in the Bronx has been playing the piano since he was a boy, growing up on New York's Long Island. There was always music in the house, he said. His mother sang. His father played the piano.

Impressing girls, though, is what hooked Joel into making a career of music, he said.

Joel just announced a 2014 concert series at Madison Square Garden in New York "to avoid schlepping around the world," but he still plans to play concerts nationwide.

President Barack Obama will salute the honorees Sunday night, and top entertainers will offer tribute performances for each honoree. The show will be broadcast Dec. 29.

On Saturday night, Secretary of State John Kerry hosted the honorees for a black-tie dinner at the State Department. Kerry said the artists had blazed trails and redefined the arts and American culture along the way.

"They are loved by so many, imitated by some, but never ever can they be replaced," Kerry said. "We are reminded that the role of arts can also never be replaced."

Garth Brooks toasted Joel at the dinner, saying his legacy would live on for generations. He said Joel has a special talent for writing songs about everyday people, from steel workers in "Allentown" to soldiers fighting in Vietnam in "Goodnight Saigon."

"Music has a wonderful gift," Brooks said. "For those that do it right, they can put you in shoes that you would never understand if it wasn't for that song."

Santana, 66, a Mexican immigrant who began learning English from American television, is one of only a few Latinos who have received the honor so far.

Santana first picked up the guitar after hearing blues and rock 'n' roll on the radio. He has said his career is about bridging cultures and fusing sounds to create something new. He grew up with the Woodstock generation after moving to San Francisco, but is perhaps best known for his album "Supernatural." It won nine Grammys.

Kerry said Santana brought the beauty of Latin culture and its rhythms and influences to the American mainstream.

"We love the music you made, not because it's Latin, but frankly because it is so very American," Kerry said.

Hancock, 73, got his start at the piano at age 7 while growing up in Chicago. Soon he was playing Mozart and discovered jazz in high school. He joined the Miles Davis Quintet in 1963 and later set out to create his own sounds, fusing jazz, funk, pop, gospel, soul and the blues. He has won an Oscar and 14 Grammy Awards so far.

Arroyo found opera while imitating the singers outside an opera workshop when she was growing up in Harlem. Soon she was signing a contract with New York's Metropolitan Opera and had a breakthrough with "Aida" in 1965. She went on to star in the great opera houses of London, Paris and Vienna.

Opera star Jessye Norman said Arroyo, now 76, has a voice "that makes you happy to be alive, just to be in her audience."

MacLaine, 79, has been acting on stage and screen for six decades ever since she began ballet at age 3. Her film debut came in 1955's "The Trouble with Harry," directed by Alfred Hitchcock, and she won the Oscar for best actress for "Terms of Endearment" in 1983. More recently she's been playing a role in "Downton Abbey" on PBS.

MacLaine's younger brother Warren Beatty also has won a Kennedy Center Honor, making them the first brother and sister to both receive the honor.

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (AP) — Friends, fans and high-performance car enthusiasts are heading to a Los Angeles suburb for a memorial for "Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker, who died in a high-speed car crash in the area.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies are anticipating thousands of people at Sunday's memorial. The actor died Nov. 30 after the Porsche Carrera GT he was riding in smashed into a light pole and tree and then burst into flames. Walker's friend Roger Rodas, who was driving, also died. Scores of people were milling around the area 30 miles northwest of Los Angeles hours before the memorial was to start at noon.

Many people are arriving in cars built for speed, and the sounds of engines revving are filling the air.

Authorities are urging people not to break any traffic laws.

It appears a romance is brewing between Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner.

The pair reunited in New York City on Saturday (Dec. 7) after going on a dinner date in West Hollywood, Calif., last month. The One Direction singer, 19, and the reality star, 18, were spotted leaving the Gansevoort Hotel in the Meatpacking district yesterday afternoon and were swarmed by a group of young fans. Security tried to escort Styles out of the crowd while Jenner kept her distance, according to photos obtained by Us Magazine.

E! News reports that they met up again later that evening as One Direction performed on "Saturday Night Live."

A source told E! that Jenner was backstage at "SNL" while Styles wowed the crowd, but that the duo did not attend the after-party, which was held at BBQ restaurant Hill Country.

Although the young stars have kept quiet about the status of their relationship, Styles did tell Piers Morgan that he and Jenner are spending time together.

When asked if he was dating the model, Styles said, "We just went out to dinner so no … I guess. I don't know."
