Will Smith, 'The Fresh Prince' Of Fashion, Turns 45

$

People may not take Will Smith seriously because of his infectious laughter, lighthearted songs and goofy faces, but this actor-producer-rapper has worked very hard to establish himself as a triple threat.

The Philadelphia native first garnered attention when he linked up with Jeffrey A. Townes in the '80s and formed the hip-hop duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. Dressed in the baggy and colorful trends of that decade, the young artists' style and Grammy Award-winning records "Parents Just Don't Understand" and "Summertime" brought them international success.

Smith stayed true to his Philly and hip-hop roots once he scored his own NBC sitcom, but with his rapid rise to fame, he eventually traded in his b-boy threads for leading man attire. Today, he's one of the best-dressed men on the red carpet, and he has quite the fashionable family at his side.

So in celebration of the entertainer's 45th birthday today (September 25), we're breaking down his many transformations by era. What's your most memorable Will Smith style moment?

Kendra Wilkinson was in a car accident last April and rushed to the hospital after suffering minor injuries.

It seems now that those injuries might not have been so minor after all. E! News is reporting that the former Playboy Playmate suffered a minor stroke after that same accident.

Doctors determined that Wilkinson indeed did have a stroke through CT scans, days after the car accident, according to E!'s sources.

She was involved in a head-on collision in Calabasas last spring while driving on the ramp leading to the 101 freeway. Sources say that Wilkinson has since made a full recovery.

Wilkinson hinted at something more on Twitter Wednesday.

The episode of "Kendra On Top" addressing the car accident airs on Friday, Sept. 27, at 10 p.m. EST.

After premiering at Cannes in May, James Franco's adaptation of "As I Lay Dying" was scheduled for a Sept. 27 theatrical debut. Days before the William Faulkner classic was set to arrive in theaters, however, it was announced that the film will not be shown on the big screen.

Millennium Films, the distributor behind Franco's "As I Lay Dying," scrapped plans for a theatrical release this week, THR reports. The company now plans to release the film on Oct. 22 on iTunes, and on Nov. 5 on DVD and VOD/iVOD.

The film, which follows Faulkner's original story of death and honor, was reportedly seen as a "difficult sell to a general audience rather than the art house crowd."

Written, directed by and starring Franco, "As I Lay Dying" also features appearances by Danny McBride, Beth Grant and Tim Blake Nelson, among others.

Nick Offerman & Megan Mullally Have An Awesome Engagement Story, Just As You Expected

Not that you need further proof Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally are the epitome of everything that is great with Hollywood, marriage and mankind in general, but here it is anyway.

The hilariously talented couple interviewed with Playboy (with clothes on, sicko) and their love is so palpable you can almost smell it. In the piece, Offerman described how he proposed to Mullally, and how he fake-proposed to her three times prior.

Offerman brought three disposable rings fabricated by 'Will & Grace''s costume designer in order to joke-propose to Mullally three different times [in Paris]. In succession, he dropped fake rings down a Parisian grate, from the top of the Eiffel Tower and off the Pont Neuf, the city’s oldest standing bridge. 'I thought it was hilarious,' says Mullally. 'But the rings got progressively bigger, and for a moment I thought the last one might be real.'

The actual ring and proposal arrived in 2002. Back in Europe—London this time—Offerman arranged for a romantic stop at the Queen Mary's Rose Garden in Regent’s Park. 'Until we got there, I was in a heightened sense of agitation,' he says.

'I couldn't figure out what was up with him,' Mullally remembers. 'He was sucking and chewing on his mustache like crazy. I thought to myself, What is going on? He has never chewed on his mustache before!'

As for the proposal itself, Offerman says, 'We were heading down this path over a bridge by a Japanese garden, and all the ducks, insects and frogs were furiously copulating around us. I feel like when our coupling is at hand, nature responds with a very positive reverberation. And I was right; she said yes.' [Playboy]

Sandra Bullock Looks Beautiful During Hand And Footprint Ceremony

We all knew she was one of the most successful and beloved actresses in the world, but now this proves it.

Sandra Bullock looked beautiful as she attended her hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., yesterday (Sept. 25), cementing her status as one of the brightest stars in Tinseltown. Bullock rocked a formfitting Antonio Berardi dress and Jimmy Choo shoes, which she wore to make her permanent indent on Hollywood.

The 49-year-old star was joined by her son, Louis, who looked handsome in a gray suit and Converse sneakers, as well as her pals George Clooney, Chelsea Handler and Octavia Spencer.

And although Bullock admits she doesn't like to bring Louis to events, she thought she'd make an exception on this occasion.

"This is the only one that I thought would be sweet for him ... the people that you follow, literally, in their hands and footsteps are pretty amazing. And it's something that he can enjoy later on in life," she told E! News. "He doesn't like it, but I thought if he remembers himself here and he sees some photos that we all took, it'll make him happy in the long run ... Embarrassed now, happy later on."

A Series Of Small Heartbreaks

1. i'm crouching in front of an apartment building in midtown. it's 2am, and hot, and the streets are empty. upstairs, he's pretending not to hear his phone ringing. upstairs, he's alone but the walls are covered in yellow post-its that his girlfriend has left behind. post-its that remind him she's always there, even when she's back in london. i'll see you soon, darling. downstairs, i'm crying. an hour ago i was on the 19th floor, resting my head against his chest and begging him to run away with me. he laughed sadly and shook his head. he loved me, sure, but he was much older than my idealistic, crazy twenty- three. downstairs, i stand up and start walking toward eighth avenue, and i want to hail a cab but i end up walking home -- the saddest, most final of my walks of shame, turns out.

heartbreak

2. he went to mexico with a bunch of his guy friends. the night before he held my hand as we walked into his place in the village, his unfurnished brand new bachelor pad. when i get back i'll make you a key, he said, and we laid down on the bare floor, on top of his leather jacket. he was a model but had secret aspirations of being an architect. when he confessed this on the night we met, i smiled dryly, as if somehow he'd get through the toil of having his picture taken to be strung up on a billboard in times square. you'll get through it, i said, and he raised his eyebrows because i was sassy and he liked it. inside, my heart was thumping like it was about to collapse because his face was more beautiful than anything i'd seen. but he went to mexico. and when he came back, it wasn't to me. he never called me again. i wept into a thousand pillow cases. weeks later i spotted him in the same club we'd met. i was drunk and sat down right next to him and my closure came in the form of a sloppy reaming out. you're an asshole, i said, and that's a hard thing to be when you're canadian. good luck with building boats. i got up and my sister put her arm around my shoulders.

dagmara

3. i'm not in love with you anymore but we can still have sex. for a minute, i consider.

4. an asshole from Argentina feeds me lovely lines. he swears repeatedly that he's dumped her, swears she's no good and that i am better than the sun. he fondles me under the awning of my apartment building at 4am, and he sleeps till noon the next day, and always forgets to call me. i forgive him because forgiveness is another day, another kiss, a sign that i have something he can't shake. but he shakes me off easily & for good, and later i cringe at how low i'd sunk, in the name of love.

hearbreak

5. when he leaves my dorm, he leaves little handwritten notes tucked under my pillow, just because. he is the first guy who loves words as much as me, and he sure has a way with them. i don't like when he grows his yellow beard, i don't like his thick thumbs, but the rest of him is wonderful. especially his little poems with my name in them. he goes abroad for a semester, and then, forever. it is a little blue breakup, and it makes me wistful and glum. but it comes with a bit of maturity on my part, some grace and dignity. i don't wilt in the aftermath and this is a new and hopeful thing. i can, in fact, exist without him, and without the others. it is a lesson learned: the heart regenerates with the best of them. the road to love is a winding one, 'til you reach the end and you reach The One.

Miley Cyrus Breakup Song, 'Drive,' Penned Before Liam Hemsworth Split

Miley Cyrus recently opened up about her new breakup song, "Drive," which reportedly alludes to her relationship with her ex-fiance, Liam Hemsworth.

The 20-year-old pop singer appears on the cover of the November issue of FASHION magazine, photographed at a private estate in the Hollywood Hills. In the candid cover interview, she revealed that "Drive," a track off her upcoming album, "BANGERZ," is a song about heartache.

“I wrote it while I was working on Valentine’s Day — emotionally it was such a hard time," Cyrus told the magazine. "It is about needing to leave someone but not really wanting to completely cut yourself off from the relationship. It’s a time when you want to leave but you can’t. It’s also about moving on.”

FASHION notes that the song refers to her split from Hemsworth, whom she met on the set of "The Last Song" back in 2009 and got engaged to last year. The two confirmed they had broken up on Sept. 16.

"Drive" is certainly not the only breakup tune on her new album, due out Oct. 8. In "Wrecking Ball" she croons about "All I wanted was to break your walls / All you ever did was wreck me." Last weekend, she cried when performing the song live at Las Vegas' iHeart Radio Music Festival.

"BANGERZ" is certainly set to be a big one for Cyrus, who has said she gave her all to the album.

"I want my record to be the biggest record in the world, and I've given everything to get here, even down to friends and family and relationships -- I've just put this music first," she told Billboard back in June. "That's been kind of a trip: It's not like I'm losing who I am -- I actually found out more about who I am by making this music... Because I'm not the same person I was six months ago -- I'm not even the same person I was two weeks ago."

Single again? Lindsay Lohan and Matt Nordgren have reportedly split, according to Us Weekly.

The magazine claims sources have confirmed the breakup, citing work schedules and long distance as the reasons. However, the two supposedly remain friends. "He really likes and respects her. He thinks she is back on top, emotionally and physically," an insider added.

Lohan and the former University of Texas football star, 30, (who made his reality TV debut on Bravo's "Most Eligible Dallas") first met seven years ago. Just last week, People magazine reported they were dating.

However, a source told E! News they were never romantic and were just friends, but the source "wouldn't be surprised if something more started up down the road."

Nordgren spoke with the New York Post's Page Six about his relationship with "The Canyons" star.

We’ve hung out. But I have been a friend trying to support her for many years now," he told Page Six. “She’s completely sober for months now. She’s in a great place, she’s thinking clear and working hard and meeting with all the right people.”

Breakup or no breakup, the 27-year-old starlet seems to be in good spirits. Lohan was spotted hanging out with Madonna at the Queen of Pop's SecretProjectRevolution film launch at the Gagosian Gallery in New York City Wednesday.

If your lifelong dream has been to live where the late frontman of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, grew up, you're weirdly in luck. Cobain's mother, Wendy O'Connor, is putting the 1.5-story bungalow located just southwest of Seattle on the market for $500,000.

Cobain, who died in 1994 at age 27, lived in the house from ages 2 to 9, and then again in his late teens post his parents' separation.

If not for a diehard fan, the family said it would welcome a partnership to make the home into a museum.

Jon Hamm On Throat Polyp: 'It Sounds Worse Than It Is'

Jon Hamm's rep confirmed that the actor would be undergoing surgery to remove a polyp from his throat, and now the "Mad Men" star is clearing up some of the gruesome rumors surrounding the news.

In an interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last night (Sept. 25), Hamm explained that his upcoming surgery is "a very routine procedure" and sounds much worse than it actually is.

"I've got a polyp on my vocal chord. It sounds worse than it is, although it doesn't sound as bad as how the National Enquirer reported it, which was that I was coughing up blood and probably have cancer," Hamm explained to Kimmel with a laugh. "I was like, 'That's good to put that out there. Thanks guys.' Because you know, I cough up blood ... never."

Hamm admitted that his family got a bit freaked out when they heard about the report, which led him to spill the beans about his minor health problem.

"My sister called me and was like, 'Um, is there something you want to tell us?' And I was like, 'No, why?'" Hamm said, adding that his sibling stated, "'We just read that you're probably going to die.' I was like, ‘Wait? When? Who have you been talking to?'"

All jokes aside though, get well soon, Jon.

'Modern Family' Takes On Gay Marriage In Premiere, Jeffrey Richman Talks Getting Emotional

After a loving eight-year partnership, it finally happened: Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) got engaged in the "Modern Family" season premiere.

Fans had been hoping to see the couple tie the knot from the series' beginning, but when gay marriage became legal in California (where the show is set) in May, it began to seem like a real possibility.

"Our goal really was to keep whatever story we were telling very specific to Mitch and Cam and just have the California part of it be the reason, the jumping-off point," writer Jeffrey Richman explained to The Hollywood Reporter of their decision. "As I started writing, I became unexpectedly emotional. I teared up hearing it read. And I completely teared up seeing that moment where they both just say 'yes' at the exact same time. That was so moving for me. I felt like, 'OK, maybe I got it right because I never cry at weddings.'"

HuffPost TV chatted with Ed O'Neill (Jay Pritchett) right around the time that DOMA and Prop 8 got the boot, and he teased that Cam and Mitch getting hitched was a definite possibility.

"That I don't know about, but it's not a bad bet," O'Neill told The Huffington Post. "I didn't think of that! Because, you know, Jesse's getting married this summer. You think he'll be wearing a bow tie?"

"Modern Family" airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

Mariel Hemingway On The Dark Side Of Her Family Heritage (VIDEO)

Actress and author Mariel Hemingway, the granddaughter of the legendary author Ernest Hemingway, comes from a family with an extensive history of mental illness, addiction and suicide. Because of that, she says she's made it her life's mission to promote mental, spiritual and physical health with her partner, Bobby Williams.

"Coming from a family of dysfunction, suicide -- seven suicides, that's a pretty powerful story," Oprah says in the above clip from "Super Soul Sunday" on OWN. "And you've said that your family is your karma. What did you mean by that?"

"Well, I really think the heritage of being a Hemingway, it's a big name," Hemingway says. "It carries a lot of weight. And I think with that comes tremendous creativity, love, fame, whatever -- but also with that comes the opposite. Because I think with darkness there is light. And so that darkness is that mental illness, that mental instability, that insecurity."

"Yes," Oprah says. "So in spite of, or maybe because of your family's history with suicide and addiction and mental illness, you decided -- made a decision -- which I think is the number one spiritual choice that people make. It's a decision, right?"

"Make a choice," Williams adds.

"Make a choice to find a better way," Oprah says.

"Right," Hemingway nods.

"Super Soul Sunday" airs Sundays at 11 a.m. ET on OWN. Hemingway's autobiographical documentary, "Running From Crazy" will air on OWN in early 2014.

'Batman Vs. Superman' Screenwriter David S. Goyer Talks Upcoming Film

LONDON — Super heroes don't bow to fan pressure – that's according to screenwriter David S. Goyer, who is co-writing the new "Batman vs. Superman" movie.

He's currently working on the script for the upcoming comic book character showdown with director Zach Snyder. Goyer says "if I try to think about `well, what would the fans like...?' then you stop being creative."

He worked on the "Dark Knight" trilogy and has the "Man of Steel" screenplay under his belt, so he's used to doing battle with popular opinion.

And "Batman vs. Superman" has already faced an online backlash after the casting of Ben Affleck as the caped crusader. Co-star Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Clark Kent from "Man of Steel."

"Batman vs. Superman" is set for a summer 2015 release.

Zach Galifianakis Calls Out Justin Bieber For Everything On 'Between Two Ferns'

"It's really exciting to talk to you, especially right in the middle in your public meltdown."

And as Zach Galifianakis interviews Justin Bieber on the newest episode of "Between Two Ferns," he truly speaks for us all, calling out Bieber's increasingly erratic (and downright stupid) behavior unbefitting of a teen role model.

In the video, Galifianakis says things to Bieber's face that society has desperately needed him to hear to him for so long, lambasting him for everything from peeing in a bucket on camera to saying he thinks Anne Frank would have been a Belieber.

Somehow, Funny or Die convinced Bieber to sit there and take it from Galifianakis, even when he started pummeling him with a belt. Yes, really.

"You're not a child, and that's the point. So I can hit a grown man with a belt," Zach explains.

Blake Shelton, Westboro Baptists' Latest Target, Is The Opposite Of Scared

Despite the stunning failure of their recent protest at a Ke$ha concert, the Westboro Baptist Church is at it again, announcing its intentions to picket the next performance of The Voice judge Blake Shelton on October 3 in Kansas City.

In characteristic fashion, the Westboro Baptist Church has been furiously tweeting accusations and slurs at Shelton, accompanied by the declaration, "We know BS when we see it!"

According to WBC's logic, Shelton's divorce from his first wife Kaynette Williams and subsequent marriage to Miranda Lambert makes him "a vulgar adulterer," which is why gay marriage is now legal in some states.

To which Shelton replied, "Hey WBC.. I've got one more sin for ya... Blow me."

He succinctly added,

Well said.

Shelton isn't the only country star that the WBC has gone after in recent weeks. They set up a protest outside of iconic country star Vince Gill's concert on September 8 to harass him about his divorce and subsequent remarriage.

"Don't you know that divorce plus remarriage equals adultery?" asked one of the picketers. "Jesus Christ said that."

"Did he?" Gill responded. "You know what else he said? He said a lot of stuff about forgiveness, about grace. You guys don't have any of that."

'Glee' Premiere: Cory Monteith Makes An Appearance

LOS ANGELES -- There was a subtle, sad reminder of late "Glee" star Cory Monteith in the TV show's fifth-season debut episode.

The hour began Thursday with Lea Michele's character, Rachel Berry, at a callback audition for a Broadway production of "Funny Girl." After she overhears the director and star (Peter Facinelli, Ioan Gruffudd) suggest she might be too green, a dejected Rachel walks through Manhattan singing the Beatles' melancholy "Yesterday."

At one point, she pauses to gaze at a photo on her cellphone: It's a group shot of her old high school glee club pals, among them Monteith's Finn Hudson.

"Oh, yesterday, love was such an easy game to play. Now I need a place to hide away. Oh, I believe in yesterday," she sings.

Monteith, 31, died in July of a drug and alcohol overdose. He and Michele's real-life relationship was mirrored by their characters' romance on the show.

"Couldn't have picked a more beautiful & perfect song to start the year with," Michele tweeted in August, as production on the Fox show got underway.

The new season of "Glee" is beginning with a two-episode salute to the Beatles' songbook. A tribute to Monteith is planned for episode three, airing Oct. 10, titled "The Quarterback" after his character's high school football role.

Monteith was among a handful of stars given an individual remembrance at Sunday's Emmy Awards.

Hollywood Is Less Gay-Friendly Off-Screen, Report Finds

LOS ANGELES — A new study suggests the proliferation of gay and transgender characters in films and television shows has not prevented gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender actors from experiencing discrimination in Hollywood.

The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists commissioned the survey, released Friday. It found that more than half of the actors who identify as gay, bisexual and transgender think directors and producers are biased against them. More than one-third of the actors who don't fall into those categories agreed with that perception.

Only 16 percent of the gay, bisexual and transgender respondents, however, said they had experienced discrimination. Gay men reported the most, with about one-fifth saying they had been discriminated against.

The online survey of nearly 5,700 SAG/AFTRA members also found that more than half of the gay, transgender and bisexual respondents had heard producers and directors make anti-gay comments while working on-set.

The performers' union, which is holding its annual convention in Los Angeles, said it pursued the first-of-its-kind research at the request of a committee that represents lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members and as a methodical way to explore an issue usually discussed through anecdotes.

The study was conducted by the Williams Institute, a think tank based at UCLA that specializes in sexual orientation, gender identity and public policy.

"The survey results show both progress and indications that more work will be necessary to make the workplace an equal and fully welcoming place for LGBT performers," M. V. Lee Badgett, a University of Massachusetts, Amherst economics professor affiliated with the UCLA institute. "The good news is that almost no one thought that opportunities for LGBT actors were getting worse."

Of the 5,692 participants, 465 identified as gay men, 61 as lesbians, and seven as transgender. Another 301 men and women described themselves as bisexual.

The survey also revealed that despite concerns about being typecast, two-thirds of the gay actors who had played gay characters felt that it had not harmed their careers or limited the roles they were offered. Nine percent of the gay men and lesbians said they had been turned down for roles during the past five years because of their sexual orientations.
