WATCH: Cristina Yang's Best Moments On 'Grey's Anatomy'

$
0
0

With today's sad news that Sandra Oh will be leaving "Grey's Anatomy" after 10 seasons, we can't help but get nostalgic for Cristina Yang's glory days on Shonda Rhimes' hit ABC series.

Yang has had some of the sassiest, funniest, more poignant and emotional scenes on the show and she isn't just Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) person -- to a lot of fans, she's the voice of reason on the show, saying the things most people with a filter never would.

Remember when ...

She lost her eyebrows thanks to her future mother-in-law:

And then panicked when it came time to walk down the aisle, causing the wedding to get called off anyway:

She rejected McSteamy in the sassiest way possible:

She reflected on her father dying in a rare emotional moment:

She had a breakdown and took it out on Callie's hair:

And in the Season 8 finale, after the plane crash that took the lives of several friends, she broke down with Meredith. Baffled by their collective bad luck, she said "I can tell you one thing: When we get out of here, I am getting the hell away from Seattle Grace Mercy Death and I'm never looking back!"

For a lot of fans, that felt like it could've been the natural end for Cristina Yang on the show. She and Mer maintained a long-distance friendship when she moved to Minnesota, but she soon came back to Seattle to try to repair her life, her career and her relationship with Owen (Kevin McKidd).

Then this past season, she was a stronger surgeon than ever, even operating in the dark:

And we can't forget Oh's adorably flustered speech when she won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Mini-Series or TV Movie in 2006:

(She won the Screen Actors Guild Award that same year, and has also been nominated for five Emmys for the role.)

We'll only have one more season of "Grey's Anatomy" with Cristina Yang -- how do you think she'll be written off the show? Share your ideas and your own favorite Cristina moments in the comments.

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 10 premieres on Sunday, September 26 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

'Don't Trust The B----' Creator Back In Business With ABC

Despite ABC cancelling "Don't Trust The B---- In Apt. 23," Nahnatchka Khan is back in business with the alphabet network, which just gave a put pilot commitment to her new comedy "Fresh Off The Boat," according to Deadline.

Because a network must pay a penalty to the studio if they fail to air a put pilot, Khan's latest offering -- which she is writing/executive producing alongside producer Jake Kasdan -- seems like a fairly safe bet for next season. The series is based upon Eddie Huang’s memoir of the same name, set in the '90s and centered around a Chinese family that moves to Orlando, FL. Huang is also executive producing.

It's already been a lucrative development season for Khan, who just sold "Fatrick" to Fox, with fellow executive producers Jim Rash and Nat Faxon set to direct the pilot. Rash and Faxon recently wrote and directed "The Way, Way Back" and won an Oscar for co-writing "The Descendants" with Alexander Payne.

According to Deadline, Fox's eagerness to snap up "Fatrick" created further interest among rival networks who wanted to get into business with Khan. Although "Apt. 23" was bounced around ABC's schedule in its second season, ABC president Paul Lee professed to love the comedy, praising its writing. "We love those two shows," he said of "Apt. 23" and "Happy Endings" at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour. "They are incredibly distinctive, they're incredibly well-written ... [but] we didn't have much place to put them."

Here's hoping Khan has better luck with "Fresh Off the Boat."

Chris Brown Sued

LOS ANGELES — A man who claims he was punched and kicked by a member of Chris Brown's entourage during a fight at a recording studio sued the R&B singer on Tuesday for assault and battery.

Sha'keir Duarte sued Brown for unspecified damages in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming he suffered a concussion as well as humiliation and mental anguish as a result of the attack.

Brown's attorney Mark Geragos called the case frivolous and said it amounted to an attempted shakedown.

"This is what gives lawyers and lawsuits a bad name is garbage like this," Geragos said, adding that he will seek to have the lawsuit dismissed and will countersue Duarte.

Duarte claims he was beaten by a member of Brown's entourage identified in the suit only as "Hood" during a fight over a parking spot.

The fight at Westlake Recording Studios erupted on Jan. 27 between the entourages of Brown and fellow singer Frank Ocean.

Brown taunted Duarte and threatened that the fight could escalate into a shooting, the lawsuit claims.

Charges were never pursued after Ocean, who said his finger was injured in the fight, stated online that he wouldn't seek criminal or civil penalties.

The fight started after Brown parked in Ocean's spot at the studio.

When we heard the news that Sandra Oh is leaving "Grey's Anatomy" after the upcoming 10th season, we immediately thought about Cristina Yang's best moments. Most of them, obviously, are with her person, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), which makes it sting even more.

Sadly, the feeling isn't unfamiliar -- we felt the same sting a few weeks ago when NBC announced that Rashida Jones will be leaving "Parks and Recreation" this season. So now we'll be losing two of TV's best female duos in one year.

Mer without Cristina? Leslie without Ann? What is TV female best friendship coming to? Who will dance it out, tell each other they're beautiful and repeatedly reassure each other that they are, in fact, their person? Check out our mash-up, above, which honors these fabulous, flawed and funny TV friendships.

Keri Russell may be turning heads on FX's "The Americans" these days, but she'll always be Felicity to an entire generation of fans. On "Watch What Happens: Live," Andy Cohen asked her if there will ever be a "Felicity" reunion. With "Veronica Mars" making a comeback, we're looking back at all our favorite shows and wanting more.

Fortunately for Russell, she said they kind of happen all the time already. Unfortunately for fans, these are very informal reunions that happen ever tyime she makes her way back to Los Angeles.

"I fly in and I instantly, when I land, I text [Scott] Speedman and [Amanda Foreman]," Russell said. "And they instantly come wherever I am and we have a boozy dinner.” Speedman played Russell's love interest, Ben, on the show, while Foreman's character was Meghan, Felicity's Wiccan roommate.

Speaking to New York Magazine, Russell said that she always looks forward to dinner with her BFFs because work keeps them apart so often. She's currently on the talk show circuit to promote her new movie, "Austenland" In it, Russell plays a "Pride & Prejudice"-obsessed woman who gets the chance to stay at a Jane Austen-themed resort. The film opens Friday.

And then, of course, there's her critically lauded work on "The Americans," which returns for a second season on FX in 2014. Catch "Watch What Happens: Live" every Sunday through Thursday at 11 p.m. ET on Bravo.

'Extreme Weight Loss': Man Loses More Than Half His Body Weight

Mike's weight had reached a point of critical danger on "Extreme Weight Loss." At one time, he was a college football player and a bodybuilder. Now, at 49-years old, Mike tipped the scales at 417 pounds. His weight was impacting his life from minor things, like not fitting in furniture, to major things. He now avoided all social events.

He wanted to lose the weight and get healthy so he would be around to see his kids grow up, and Mike proved he was deadly serious in his commitment. The show follows participants for a year to see how much trainer Chris Powell can help them change their lives. Mike took the reigns of his own transformation and shed more than half his body weight in just nine months. He then finished off his weight-loss journey with a wedding vow renewal with his wife of 20 years, Nancy.

“This whole year has made me feel younger, and the fact that I was renewing my vows with my wife made me feel like I was just starting all over again," Mike said.

In total, Mike dropped 221 pounds to stand at 196 pounds for the big reveal on the show. It was a transformation that The Guardian Express' Douglas Cobb called "awesome." But Mike didn't stop with changing his own life. His hometown paper, The Cherry Hill Courier-Post, checked in on him since filming wrapped earlier this year. Since then, Mike has become a local inspiration, having even motivated his son to drop 30 pounds.

“A lot of folks have joined us," Mike told the Courier-Post. "Not everyone needs to do an hour. We work out in 30-minute increments. I tell people there are no excuses. You can find time to move. Just park far away and walk. Don’t blame it on not getting to the gym.”

See more astounding transformations every week on "Extreme Weight Loss," Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

'The Little Couple' Premiere: Bringing Will Home

Bill Klein and Jen Arnold returned in the new season of "The Little Couple," and they brought a little bundle of joy with them. The couple finished their trip from China to bring their new 3-year-old son, Will, back home to Houston. The family decided to spend three weeks away from the cameras, so Bill and Jen could have special time alone with Will.

"For me, the biggest surprise is just how quickly we were able to bond with Will," said Jen. "We really had a lot of unknowns, and I think that's been the best surprise of the whole process."

It was a learning process for the new parents, though. Especially since Will is already three. "We have to learn about his habits, we have to learn how to communicate with him," Bill admitted.

The happy couple live-Tweeted the premiere, with Jen saying that Will was glued to his big television moment. He wasn't the only one excited, either. Writing for The Huffington Post, David Moyes said that "They shouldn't change the name [of the show] to 'The Little Trio' just yet. This season, the couple will be seen going to India to pick up their adopted daughter, Zoey, make the family a little quartet."

Will joining the family, and coming to the United States, weren't the only things worth celebrating either. This sixth season premiere was also the show's 100th episode. Come back for Episode 101 and beyond as "The Little Couple" continues on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.

'Amish Mafia' Premiere: Extreme Measures To Keep Technology Out

"Amish Mafia" returned for a second season, and Lebanon Levi proved that he was still determined to keep modern technology out of his Amish community. In fact, he's so committed to this cause that he would have his men commit rather extreme acts of violence in order to ensure the technology doesn't get in.

In this premiere, a man showed up and was selling prepaid cell phones, tablets and laptops to the Amish youth from the back of his vehicle. So Levi sent out Caleb, one of his guys, to take care of the problem. And Caleb did just that, using rather extreme measures.

“You’re not allowed to do this! You know that!"Caleb shouted at the man. "The Amish community doesn’t appreciate it. Lebanon Levi doesn’t tolerate it. Guess what? They’re not going to f*cking buy it anymore.” With this declaration, Caleb started tossing the electronics out of the man's car.

But he didn't stop there. Caleb scared the man back into his vehicle with a bat, and then proceeded to start beating on the man's car. He beat the taillight, smashed a side window, and even crashed the rear windshield. "“What are you going to do?" Caleb challenged the man. "You going to f*cking leave? Why are you still here?”

Julia Hatmaker, writing for Penn Live, thought the car-smashing was a bit extreme, but lame in comparison to last year when one of Levi's men shot a car with a rifle after its owner hit a horse-and-buggy. USA Today's Robert Bianco, on the other hand, wasn't happy to see the show back at all. "Odds are the [show] will either make you pray for Shark Week's return --- or increase your donation to PBS,” he wrote.

Season 2 of "Amish Mafia" continues every Tuesday night on Discovery at 9 p.m. ET.

'AGT': Cami Bradley Stuns With Her Take On Cher's 'Believe'

Twelve more acts hit the stage at Radio City Music Hall with hopes of advancing to the semi-finals on "America's Got Talent." But one singer proved that sometimes it truly is better to keep things simple. A piano and a voice were all 25-year-old Cami Bradley needed to break out of her comfort zone and blow the judges away.

Astonishingly, she took Cher's classic '90s hit "Believe" and turned it into a tender ballad that could move the room. Her performance was so pure and sweet that it was impossible to watch without smiling and falling in love with her at least a little bit.

Hollywood Life's Avery Thompson fell in love with Cami a lot. She declared Cami's performance the top of the night. "There are not enough words to describe how fantastic this girl was. Seriously, it takes one brave soul to take on Cher," wrote Brooks. "Cami has so much star power and we can’t wait to see her breeze into the semi-finals so we can hear her sing again.”

Cami came in second in the rankings for Buddy TV's Bill King, but he worries about her future on the show. "A potential star in the making, but there's not a great success rate for singers after 'AGT,'" he wrote. "Why not 'American Idol,' Cami? They'd give you a career.”

The competition continues on "America's Got Talent," Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.

'Giuliana & Bill': Fab-U-Wish Pairs Giuliana With Cancer Survivor For Fabulous Day

Giuliana Rancic kicked off a new program that's like a Make-a-Wish Foundation for women going through breast or ovarian cancer on the latest "Giuliana & Bill." A breast-cancer survivor herself, Giuliana partnered with the nonprofit group, Bright Pink, to launch Fab-U-Wish.

The program partners Giuliana herself with women undergoing treatment for breast or ovarian cancer. Giuliana and her team give the women an ultimate "celebrity" experience.

First up was Barbie, a 36-year-old, 18-year veteran of the Marines, as well as a single mother. Barbie discovered her breast cancer in Afghanistan, and has since undergone a double mastectomy and lost her hair. She said that she just wanted to feel like a woman again, and that was something Giuliana could certainly help her with.

“You’re the reason why we came up with this idea, wanting to do this for people like you, who have been through so much and continue to go through so much," Giuliana told Barbie, choking up with emotion as she spoke.

Giuliana flew Barbie and her sister out to Los Angeles for a day of shopping and pampering. Barbie even got a makeover from Giuliana's own glam squad. It was clearly a lot of fun for Barbie, who Tweeted during the episode that she was having fun just reliving the experience on TV.

On her blog for the Style network, Giuliana said that Barbie will always hold a special place in her heart. She described the Marine veteran as the "perfect choice" for the program. If you or someone you know is interested in a Fab-U-Wish, you can head over to the website to apply. All you need to make a nomination is a short essay and a two-minute video.

"Giuliana & Bill" continues ever Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on Style.

'Covert Affairs': Calder Wants Radio Silence Between Annie And Auggie During Missions

Calder officially took over the DPD on "Covert Affairs" this week, and he immediately made some big changes. The biggest change was to Annie's major relationship in the field.

“As of this mission, I’ll be Annie’s handler," Calder said. But that wasn't his only caveat. While Auggie was still in Annie's ear during the next mission, there was a new rule in place that would have rendered that fact completely inconsequential.

“During this mission, I need 100 percent radio silence between you two," Calder told them.

“We can’t communicate? Why?” Annie asked.

“Sounds harsh, but it’s in your best interest," Calder said. He never did explain how it was in their best interest, though. This led Allison Nichols, writing for Examiner, to question his motives. "Either it’s a petty revenge type move, which doesn’t seem like him, or he is attempting to drive a wedge between Annie and Auggie, which doesn’t even come close to working," she wrote.

Annie and Auggie didn't follow this new order. They communicated throughout her mission, though this did prove dangerous. Still, Annie thanked Auggie for always looking out for her as her handler. Of course, Calder was none too happy.

Writing for Gather, Amy Outland said that at this point, no one trusts Calder -- not even the viewers. All we can do is keep watching to find out what he's up to, and why. "Covert Affairs" airs every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on USA.

Happy 52nd birthday Susan Olsen!

The star who played the angelic Cindy Brady, or "the youngest one in curls," on the iconic TV series "The Brady Bunch" is all grown up.

Since her role in the popular 1970s show, Olsen has continued to work as an artist, writer, producer, radio host, animal welfare advocate and mother to a teenaged son.

Years ago, Olsen talked of classmates who teased her about her innocence and lisp (it was real), adding that she'd had trouble landing adult roles. More recently, Olsen was in the news for lending her support to marriage equality.

To this day, "The Brady Bunch" remains one of the most remembered TV shows in history. What was your favorite episode? Let us know in comments.

Josh Duhamel Excited About Baby On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'

Josh Duhamel was clearly pretty excited during his visit to "Jimmy Kimmel Live." His wife, Fergie, could go into labor at any moment. That led Kimmel to ask Duhamel if he had his phone on him. After all, what if she went into labor during the interview.

“That’s a good question. No, I did leave it backstage," Duhamel admitted. "I guess, somebody ... one of the pages will run it out here.”

“That would be exciting, if you had to dash off the stage and get home," Kimmel said. But it didn't happen.

Another thing that didn't happen was Duhamel revealing the name the couple had selected for the baby, "I can’t. She would have my balls. No pun intended.

He did reveal the gender of the baby, though, last month on "Live with Kelly and Michael." There, he held up a blue onesie to confirm that they were having a boy.

Perez Hilton has him quoted as saying that the name is "more traditional" than some might expect. And, apparently, no one knows it but Duhamel and Fergie. "Some people may not like it, some people may think it’s really cool, but we don’t really care — that’s why we’re not telling anybody," Duhamel said. "We’re not even telling [Fergie's] mom because we don’t want to hear anything about it. That way you don’t feel like you’re second-guessing yourself. It’s between us — it’s a sacred thing.”

Josh Duhamel can next be seen in the film "Scenic Route," which will be released on August 23. "Jimmy Kimmel Live" airs every weeknight at 11:35 p.m. ET on ABC.

Hugh Jackman Turns Down Big Offer

Fans yearning to see Hugh Jackman crank out multiple Wolverine movies over the next several years will be disappointed to learn the rumors of more reprisals are untrue. Jackman was rumored to be offered $100 million to headline four additional movies as the superhero, but the actor scoffed at the speculation this week.

“No it’s not true,” Jackman told Entertainment Weekly. “I would never do that. I've never done that mainly because, for the fans and for me, each time I've gone around there’s been a really good reason to do it and I don't know what that reason is from here. I’m in the middle of making this and I just promoted the other and I'm really happy with the way 'The Wolverine' came out.”

As expected, "The Wolverine" has been a lucrative entry in the "X-Men" series, so it makes sense that Marvel Entertainment would want to extend its shelf life. The movie took in $53 million during its opening weekend and has accrued more than $116 million domestically to date.

Jackman has already begun filming the seventh "X-Men" edition, entitled "Days of Future Past," which is due in theaters in May 2014. But it looks like the Wolverine may put his claws away after "Days" tears its way into theaters -- at least for now. The actor's schedule does seem like it would permit more superhero work, however, should he choose to go that route. The only other incomplete project currently on Jackman's radar is the part of P.T. Barnum in "The Greatest Showman On Earth."

Also this week, Lea Michele made her first public appearance at the Teen Choice Awards on Aug. 11, dedicating her award to her late boyfriend Cory Monteith, who died last month.
