If drunk Florence Welch wasn't enough to brighten up your Monday, allow Elvis Costello and The Roots to take a stab. The visuals starts with Costello and Questlove winding a record player and then turns into a lyric video, but it's still a pretty nice tune.

"Wise Up Ghost," Costello and the Roots' collaboration album, is due out in Sept. 17 on Blue Note. Head over to Okay Player for the tracklist.

'Pry The Single From My Bleeding Fingers'

Lady Gaga's fourth studio album has been a long time coming. Mother Monster has been working on "ARTPOP" for months, finally announcing earlier this month that the album will arrive in November.

The first single off of "ARTPOP," Gaga's first new song in years, will make its debut on August 19. The one person who doesn't seem too excited for the song's release however, is Gaga herself.

"'ARTPOP' as they pry the single from my bleeding fingers," the 27-year-old singer wrote on her Little Monsters website. "It's a scary thing to revisit those things underneath, the pain in your past. But all I found was raw passion. I thought I was destroyed inside. I'm just ready to fight. Start the music."

Gaga accompanied the post with a stripped-down photo of herself, sporting dark brown hair and no make-up. Take a look at the photo below.

'Partridge Family' Mom Revealing All

LOS ANGELES — Shirley Jones opens the door to her house and appears every inch the ladylike Marian the librarian or sweet farm girl Laurey or cheerfully steady Mrs. Partridge, offering a warm smile and handshake.

Her elegant, modestly high-necked jacket is black, her makeup is discreet and her silver hair tidy. Jones' living room has the sort of traditional furniture and knickknacks (exception: a prominent Academy Award) that would fit any suburban house.

It all adds up to the publicly familiar Shirley Jones, whose crystalline soprano voice and dewy prettiness made her an immediate star in the 1950s film versions of "Oklahoma!" and "Carousel" and who captured a subsequent generation of fans in TV's "The Partridge Family" in the 1970s.

Then there's "Shirley Jones," her new autobiography (written with Wendy Leigh and published by Simon & Schuster's Gallery Books imprint) that turns the 79-year-old actress' image on its head in startling – even shocking – ways.

"So bring out the smelling salts, hang on to your hats, and get ready for the surprise of your lives!" she writes, coyly, in the book's introduction. It's not false advertising.

There's a recounting of her early life and dazzling career that included working with two musical theater masters, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, as well as many of Hollywood's top actors, including Marlon Brando (king of the retakes to exhaustion, Jones said), Jimmy Stewart (charmingly ditsy) and Richard Widmark (the only co-star she fell in love with).

But a substantial part of the book is spent on her troubled marriage to the late Jack Cassidy, the glossily handsome actor and singer whom she describes in a passage as her first lover and "sexual Svengali," and whose lessons she shares candidly.

That includes – X-rated spoiler alert – Cassidy's impressive endowment, Jones' own "highly sexed" nature that made orgasms a breeze, their threesome with another woman ("yuck," she says, when asked about the onetime experiment), Cassidy's pre-marital sexual encounter with Cole Porter that Jones says left her unfazed, and her apparent tolerance for his infidelities.

The character of Marian, the spinsterish librarian in 1962's "The Music Man," another smash hit for Jones, "wasn't me," she said firmly. And her autobiography makes that abundantly clear, although she says it took the passing of years for to bring such candor.

"I never would have written this book if I weren't the age I am now," she said.

So she's grown-up enough to tell her story, and her admirers should be grown-up enough to read it? "That's exactly how I feel," replied Jones.

She overturned her squeaky-clean image once before with her Oscar-winning portrayal of a vengeful prostitute in "Elmer Gantry" (1960) opposite Burt Lancaster, and the role that she considers her most important. It also brought backlash from her admirers.

"I got letters up the kazoo: `Why would you ever take a part like this?" Jones recalls.

Marty Ingels, the comedian who is her second husband of 35 years and counting, jokes that he is offended by her personal history.

"All that stuff she did with her husband (Cassidy), all those adventures .... I'm looking into the grounds of having my marriage annulled," he said.

That draws a boisterous guffaw from Jones, whose loyalty to her outspoken, eccentric spouse has provoked speculation about how she could have jumped to Ingels from Cassidy, deeply troubled but unquestionably urbane.

Ingels lives up to his image by joining the conversation attired in a purple bathrobe and an oversized top hat with "HUSBAND" printed on it, and cracking jokes about being kept in an attic. Jones has a simple answer for doubters: Ingels makes her laugh every day and keeps life from being boring.

Her sexuality remains unabated, said the naturally youthful-looking Jones (healthy eating, daily exercise and no plastic surgery, she said). She is eager to quash the idea that age kills passion or friskiness.

"Luckily, Marty thinks I've still got a beautiful body, even though it is old, and every now and again I take all of my clothes off in front of him and shake my (breasts) at him, and he loves it," Jones writes in her autobiography, using racy slang for "breasts."

As she sees it, her own steady temperament made her crave an exciting, surprising partner, and both Cassidy and Ingels fit the description.

She met Cassidy as a 21-year-old small-town girl, a virgin, and "he taught me a lot about everything. Absolutely everything," Jones said. "I learned about life with Jack, about parties with Jack, drinking with Jack, design with Jack. He was bright, well-read, smart."

He was also repeatedly unfaithful to her, envious of her success and an inadequate father who late in life was diagnosed as bipolar, Jones said.

"Many people may say, `She was crazy. She did anything he wanted and it wasn't good for her, wasn't good for the kids, wasn't good for the people around her,'" she said. "I'm going to get a lot of that ... but it was my life and it was the way I wanted to live it."

Her autobiography begins innocently enough, with Jones born in Charleroi, Penn., and moving as a toddler to Smithton, Penn., where her father helped run the family-owned brewery, the Jones Brewing Co.

She describes herself as a rebellious tomboy, "wild, willful and independent," who became obsessed with movies and their stars but intended to turn her love of animals into a career as a veterinarian. Talent intervened.

In 1953, on a post-high school graduation trip to New York with her parents, a friend introduced her to an agent who, immediately impressed, told her to attend an open audition with John Fearnley, the casting director for the songwriting team of Rodgers and Hammerstein.

After "going for broke" and singing "The Best Things in Life Are Free," a voice from the theater called out to Jones on stage, "Where are you from? And what have you done before?"

"Smithson, and nothing," Jones recalls as her flustered reply.

She received a part in the chorus for Rodgers and Hammerstein's "South Pacific" and then, a year later, the starring role in the duo's "Oklahoma!" – as well as the title of "Hollywood's new Cinderella," as Jones recounts in her book.

With the end of the big-screen musical era, Jones fought for recognition as a serious actress to win the role in "Elmer Gantry" and other dramatic fare. "The Partridge Family," about a widow and her musical family and co-starring David Cassidy, allowed her to work in Los Angeles and be home at night with her young children.

She didn't see Hollywood as exciting, Jones insisted. It was work, which she left behind each day when she returned to her roles as wife and mother.

"I liked my job, but when I came home, I never thought of it," said Jones, who still takes on occasional theater, movie and TV roles.

Of the many photos scattered around her house, all but one – a group shot showing the triumphant Jones and Lancaster on Oscar night – are of children and grandchildren.

Jones had a chance to reflect on her life anew while recording the audio version of "Shirley Jones."

"What came to me is, `I did this, and obviously I loved it when I was doing it," she said. "I had a great time. I have no regrets whatsoever."

The 2013 San Diego Comic-Con convention was a hotbed for outlandish costumes and over-the-top makeup, but it also boasted some pretty amazing red carpet looks from our favorite celebrities.

It seems like the A-listers were willing to step outside of the box at the annual festival and try some bolder trends (maybe they knew they wouldn't be in the craziest ensemble).

Jennifer Lawrence sported a crop top and white miniskirt, while Zoe Saldana rocked a denim jumpsuit and Hailee Steinfeld schooled us in nail art.

Chris Brown Pleads Not Guilty In Hit-And-Run Charge

LOS ANGELES — Singer Chris Brown's lawyer has entered a not-guilty plea for him to a hit-and-run charge that led to his parole being revoked.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles city attorney's office says charges of driving without a license and driving without proof of insurance were dismissed Tuesday after Brown's attorney presented proof he was licensed in Virginia.

Brown was charged after a May 12 traffic accident in which he is suspected of rear-ending a car stopped at a red light and refusing to give the other driver his license or insurance information.

The singer has been on felony probation in the 2009 beating of former girlfriend Rihanna. A judge revoked his probation last week and ordered a hearing. His trial in the hit-and-run case is set for Aug. 15.

'It's Always Sunny' Is Ending

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is ending after Season 10, according to series star and executive producer Glenn Howerton.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Howerton was asked if Season 10 will be the comedy's last.

"Yes. There’s a certain point where you wear out your welcome and we don't want to do that. We want to leave them wanting more. We spend a lot of time trying to find new lines to cross," he said. "We're not trying to offend people or gross them out, but we're looking to surprise them. I think we're proud of what we’ve done so far, so it’s time to stop. I’m sure there are already a few people who are like 'Jesus Christ is that show still on? Go away.'"

The Huffington Post's request for comment from FX was not immediately returned.

"It's Always Sunny" is moving from FX to FXX, a new sister network focused on younger viewers. Season 9 of "It's Always Sunny" is set to debut on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 10 p.m. ET. The series will celebrate its 100th episode on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. ET. "It's Always Sunny" has already been renewed for its 10th -- and final -- season. Season 10 will premiere in the fall of 2014.

Further cementing her official position as our celebrity BFF, Jennifer Lawrence engaged in more delightfully endearing antics at Comic-Con. Turns out the "Hunger Games" star is a major fan of Jeff Bridges. Spotting Bridges at the event, she immediately sprinted away (much like we would upon seeing J.Law).

Did You Want Visitors After Having A Baby?

0
0

“Why did it take Kate’s parents so long to visit?” a reader asked me this morning. “Did the Mean Queen keep them away?”

My guess is that their children did. But that’s just my personal bias in the very personal question of when and whether to visit a new mother in the hospital.

The infant Prince was born at 4:24 yesterday afternoon, we are told, and Carole and Michael Middleton were the first relatives to see him, at about 3:04 p.m. the following day. Charles and Camilla were next, arriving at 5:25.

There had been rumors that Kate’s mother and sister would be present at the actual birth, but those were reported to be false. Whether that was a good or a bad choice depends on how you feel about childbirth, and I guess I reveal much by telling you that there is nothing I wanted less during labor, delivery and the aftermath than company.

My first child was born in the medical center where my husband happened to work, meaning his friends and colleagues felt free to stop by to say hi. One of my least comfortable moments as a new parent was struggling to aim a nipple toward my screaming newborn's mouth when my spouse’s boss walked in, bearing gifts.

All of our parents lived halfway across the country the first time, so the question of whether they should visit in the hospital became moot. By my second pregnancy, we lived close to both families, and I asked that they please wait to come see the new arrival until we were both back home. His big brother was the only hospital visitor, and I was grateful to be able to use the 24 hours after giving birth to recover, to get to know the newcomer, and to not have to spend a moment worrying about keeping up appearances for anyone else.

“I would want my mother by my side the whole time,” a co-worker said, starting a lively discussion here at HuffPost Parents this morning.

“When my oldest was born we were away from family and were alone in a hospital room feeling lonely," said another, leading us to put the question to all of you.

What are your rules for visitors during and after giving birth? Are you surprised to hear it took Kate’s parents 24 hours to appear?

Congratulations, B-lister! You made a sex tape!

You must have needed the money...

celeb sex tape gif

Or the fame.

celeb sex tape gif

Or both.

celeb sex tape gif

You just never thought your kids might one day find it.

celeb sex tape gif

celeb sex tape gif

celeb sex tape gif

Which, all things considered, is better than your parents coming across it on Google.

celeb sex tape gif

And now -- you feel awkward.

celeb sex tape gif

How do you make sense of it?

celeb sex tape gif

What if they ask to watch it through?

celeb sex tape gif

What if *cringe* they ask questions?

celeb sex tape gif

Worse yet, what if they enjoy it?

celeb sex tape gif

Well, one way you could go about it is to use food as metaphor.

celeb sex tape gif

"Daddy just wanted a bite of mommy's taco," you could say.

celeb sex tape gif

Or: "Mommy was enjoying some of daddy's finger food."

celeb sex tape gif

"Daddy had to frost mommy's cupcakes."

You can use whimsical fairytale comparisons, e.g. "Daddy is a unicorn whose horn needed shining."

celeb sex tape gif

"Mommy is a mermaid who had just learned how to use her legs."

celeb sex tape gif

Or a "Cinderella who had just bent down for her shoe."

celeb sex tape gif

Alternatively, you can use examples from the world of sports, such as "Daddy hit a home run."

celeb sex tape gif

"Daddy had to 'Go deep.'"

Borrow terms from some of their favorite games, like "Mommy and daddy played puzzle pieces."

Lifetime has ordered a TV movie adaptation of V.C. Andrews' "Flowers in the Attic," which will star Heather Graham and Ellen Burstyn, The Wrap reports.

Graham will play the recently widowed Corrine, who takes her four children (Chris, Cathy, Cory and Carrie) to stay with her parents at their mansion in Virginia. Because of a dark family secret, Corrine's mother, Olivia (Burstyn) insists that the four children must be kept locked in the attic where their grandfather won't see them, leaving them to care for themselves after Corrine's visits become increasingly infrequent. After years trapped alone together, the eldest children, Chris and Cathy, start taking a page out of Cersei and Jaime Lannister's playbook, if you know what we mean ...

The TV movie will be executive produced by Merideth Finn ("The Rite"), Michele Weiss ("Little Children") and Charles W. Fries ("Screamers"), Deborah Chow ("The High Cost of Living") is directing the script by "Up All Night's" Kayla Alpert.

Graham is best known for her film work, including "Boogie Nights," "The Hangover" and "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me," and will guest star in the upcoming season of "Californication" as a woman who has a history with Hank. Oscar winner Burstyn was last seen in USA's shortlived "Political Animals."

"Once Upon a Time" has recast Robin Hood.

Tom Ellis played the role in the Season 2 "Lacey" episode, but could not reprise it for a Season 3 recurring arc. Instead, according to TVLine, Sean Maguire will play Robin Hood.

Maguire's other TV credits include "Criminal Minds," "Scott & Bailey," "Cold Case" and "EastEnders."

"Once Upon a Time" Season 3 will also feature Ariel of "The Little Mermaid" fame. Producers also said Tinker Bell and Peter Pan will be seen as several characters travel to Neverland to save Henry (Jared Gilmore).

"Once Upon a Time" won't be the only "Once" on the ABC block this fall. It will be joined on the schedule by "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland." The spinoff series will be a spin on "Alice in Wonderland" and there will be connections between the two fairy-tale series.

"Once Upon a Time" premieres Sunday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

'Poltergeist' Remake Casts Lead

0

The forthcoming "Poltergeist" remake has found its female lead in Rosemarie DeWitt, who will portray the matriarch of the spooked-out Freeling family, according to Deadline.com.

The reboot of the popular 1982 horror film is due in 2014. DeWitt's casting marks the first role filled, so there's no still no word on who will portray her husband and three children, specifically little Carol Anne, whose communication with the world beyond conjures up the eponymous spirits.

DeWitt is taking over the role originally portrayed by JoBeth Williams, who was part of a cast that is famously rumored to have been haunted themselves. A 2002 episode of "E! True Hollywood Story" detailed premature deaths that occurred among the actors following the filming, including that of 12-year-old Heather O'Rourke, who portrayed Carol Anne.

The new "Poltergeist," which has been in the works since 2008, was written by Pulitzer-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire ("Rabbit Hole," "Oz the Great and Powerful"). Gil Kenan ("Monster House," "City of Ember") will direct, with production set to begin this fall.

Kate Middleton Is Gorgeous One Day After Giving Birth

It's hard enough stepping out weeks after giving birth, but one day? Now that's something.

Due to royal tradition, Kate Middleton debuted her newborn son -- and post-baby body -- today (July 23), just one day after welcoming her first child with Prince William. The Duchess of Cambridge looked flawless in a polka-dotted dress by British designer Jenny Packham. The brand-new mom was all smiles as she and Wills introduced the Prince of Cambridge to the world, gushing that they "couldn't be happier."

"He's got a good pair of lungs on him, that's for sure. He's a big boy –- he's quite heavy," Prince William told reporters of his 8-pound-6-ounce baby boy while exiting St. Mary's hospital this evening in London. "He has got her [Kate's] looks, thankfully."

As for Middleton, the 31-year-old said this experience has been "very emotional," continuing, "It's a moment that any parent having just given birth will know what this feeling feels like."

PHOTOS: Jay Z Lets Loose At Chicago After Party

Jay Z and company are becoming familiar faces around the Windy City.

Monday night, the rap legend performed alongside Justin Timberlake to a sold-out crowd at Soldier Field for the duo's "Legends Of The Summer" tour. Just days earlier, Jay Z's wife, Beyonce, wowed fans at the United Center while Hova's sister-in-law, Solange, lit up Day 2 of the Pitchfork Music Fest on Saturday.

(See photos of Jay Z and Chicago celebs partying after the show, below.)

Reviews of the show suggest that despite each individual's star power, the two-and-a-half hour effort wouldn't have been as successful without Jay Z's commanding presence to balance Timberlake's eager-to-please performance.

Fans reportedly booed Timberlake when he launched into "New York, New York" but were more restrained with regard to Jay Z's valentine to the Big Apple, "Empire State Of Mind" (to say nothing of his Brooklyn Nets hat).

Perhaps those most unhappy with the concert were people who weren't even there: NBC Chicago reports several drivers had their cars towed from the area surrounding Soldier Field on account of the show. Drivers said there were no signs warning of a special event parking restrictions posted when they parked.

True to form, Jay Z brushed it off and partied it up at the West Loop club, Lumen, following the show. Several Chicago Bulls stars and a few past and present Chicago Bears stepped out to take in some of the swanky outing.

You Can Now Own The 'Walker, Texas Ranger' Home

DALLAS — Need space to practice roundhouse kicks and fist-enforced Texas justice? You're in luck: Chuck Norris' spacious Dallas home, complete with a gym featuring memorabilia from his "Walker, Texas Ranger" television series, is on the market.

The Mediterranean ranch-style home in the tony Dallas neighborhood of Northwood Hills also was the on-screen residence of Cordell Walker, the roundhouse-kicking Texas Ranger who battled villainy at every turn.

Norris portrayed Walker in the CBS series that ran for eight seasons. It ended in 2001, but lives on in syndication. Portions of the series were shot in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The 7,362-square-foot home is listed for $1.2 million. Along with the weight room, it's listed as having four bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and a theater. There's also a separate building that served as a studio for the filming of "Walker, Texas Ranger," as well as other Norris productions, according to listing agent Rogers Healy.

Norris co-owned the property with his brother, Aaron Norris.

Healy said Chuck Norris and his wife have homes elsewhere and want to downsize. He noted that a handful of "qualified buyers" have toured the home since it was listed Friday.
