WATCH: Kanye West Allegedly Attacks Photographer

0

Kanye West allegedly attacked a member of the paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Friday, TMZ reports.

According to the celebrity news site, West told an aggressive photographer to stop asking questions, and when the paparazzo continued, the rapper threw punches.

In the video, West can be seen turning to the persistent photographer and saying, "I told you 'Don't talk to me,' right? What you're trying to do is get me in trouble..."

An LAPD officer confirmed to LA Weekly that there was "a battery investigation" at the airport this afternoon, and an LA Fire Department spokesman told the news source that a rescue ambulance responded to the terminal, but any relationship to the attack was unclear.

Associated Press reports that police are investigating the situation.

We're Still Crying Over The Red Wedding

SAN DIEGO — It's wasn't hard for "Game of Thrones" to say goodbye to several characters at Comic-Con.

The panel for the fantasy HBO series kicked off Friday with an "in memoriam" segment set to Boyz II Men's "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday."

The tribute was dedicated to the scads of characters who've bitten the dust on the show, ranging from Khal Drogo to Wine Merchant to Catelyn Stark, the character played by Michelle Fairley who died in the infamous "Red Wedding" installment.

"I knew how many years I signed for, so I knew what was coming," said Fairley at the pop-culture convention.

The vicious slayings of many Westeros residents in the third season surprised many viewers, especially the brutal "Red Wedding" episode.

"We'd been waiting for it for so long and dreading it, and having it turn out better than we expected because of these actors was one of the greatest moments of my life," series co-creator David Benioff said.

"Game of Thrones" cast members Fairley, Peter Dinklage, John Bradley, Kit Harrington, Rose Leslie, Richard Madden and Emilia Clarke joined "A Song of Fire and Ice" mastermind George R.R. Martin and series co-creators Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

Martin said he needed to get to work finishing the two upcoming novels, "The Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring," because the show is catching up with source material.

The crowd inside Hall H in the San Diego Convention Center shrieked when Khal Drago actor Jason Momoa stomped on stage and planted a smooch on Clarke, who continues to play his love interest Daenerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons, on the show.

Momoa screamed into the microphone, "I'm not dead, George!"

The New 'Walking Dead' Trailer Is EPIC

0
0

SAN DIEGO — The zombies are adapting on "The Walking Dead."

The fourth season trailer debuted at Comic-Con showed off a breed of stronger, savvier undead – or "walkers," as they're called on the hit AMC zombie apocalypse series – encroaching on the survivors at their prison enclave.

"It's going to get insane very quickly," new show runner Scott Gimple said.

"The Walking Dead" producers were joined by such cast members as Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira and Norman Reedus.

In the footage shown at the pop-culture convention, the survivors' barricaded headquarters have been further fortified. However, increasingly more hordes are bombarding the gates, and they're not spreading out anymore.

"Yeah, the walkers are no threat at all this season," joked executive producer Gale Anne Hurd after panel moderator and "Talking Dead" host Chris Hardwick suggested the zombies were simply animals.

The clip also teased a catastrophic event inside the prison with multiple deaths. At the end of the trailer, Reedus' Daryl is shown driving a car and overhearing a voice on the radio whispering, "Those who arrive survive."

"The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman said the villainous Governor played by David Morrissey will return in the fourth season but when, how and why will be a mystery that runs throughout the season.

"You've just gotta be on my side. If you're not on my side, you've gotta go," said Morrissey of his cutthroat character. "That's the deal with the Governor."

Several fans suggested to the panel what they'd like to see in the new season, including Rick and Michonne hooking up and Carl offing the Governor.

The fourth season will debut Oct. 13.

Queen Of Soul Makes A Prediction About Detroit

DETROIT — Aretha Franklin says Detroit's future is bright.

The Detroit native, known as the "Queen of Soul," is reacting to her city's bankruptcy. In a statement, Franklin says Detroit may be "bankrupt monetarily but we are well-funded in spirit and what it takes to come back."

Franklin says Detroit is a winner. She says "between new and dynamic leadership with the Big Three, the private sector and a little help from D.C., Detroit's best and most glorious days are still ahead."

The statement was released Friday by publicist David Brokaw. The 71-year-old Franklin grew up singing in her father's Baptist church in Detroit.

The city filed for bankruptcy on Thursday.

'Veronica Mars' Movie Spoilers Revealed!

0
0

SAN DIEGO — It's not a mystery: "Veronica Mars" is really coming to the big screen.

"Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas, star Kristen Bell and the rest of the cast previewed footage Friday at Comic-Con from the upcoming fan-funded film.

The cult, teenage gumshoe TV series was canceled in 2007 after three seasons.

Earlier this year, Thomas used crowd-funding site Kickstarter to pull in $2 million in less than a day to make a new movie. He eventually gathered more than $5.7 million in 30 days.

The footage that was teased didn't give away too much of the plot as it showed an adult Mars as a hot-shot New York lawyer being interviewed with a character played by Jamie Lee Curtis.

In the film, Mars returns to her hometown of Neptune, Calif., to meet up with her old pals for their high school reunion and solve another mystery.

"I can tell you it sorta has a `Godfather III' theme to it, which seems odd," said Thomas. "Why not pick `Godfather II'? It was a better movie."

Bell did reveal her first line of dialogue from the first day of shooting: "Charming drink names! I can't decide between a Beast with Two Backs or a Donkey Punch. Oh, do you think they'd let me order a virgin Devirginator?"

Bell said her first day back on set was with co-star Jason Dohring.

"We just kept staring at each other," she told the crowd. "`Are we really here? Is this `The Twilight Zone'?'"

"Veronica Mars" co-stars Dohring, Francis Capra, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Ryan Hansen, Tina Majorino and Chris Lowell joined Bell on a panel inside the San Diego Convention Center.

Lowell, who plays divisive love interest Stosh "Piz" Piznarski, came on stage to cheers wearing a "Team Logan" T-shirt, while Logan Echolls actor Dohring was clad in a "Team Piz" shirt. Hansen, who played outspoken playboy Dick Casablancas, later ripped off his top to reveal a "Team Dick" T-shirt underneath.

Thomas said two more days of filming remain for the movie, set for release in theaters early next year.

These Ain't Your Johnny Depp Pirates

0
0

SAN DIEGO — "Black Sails" cast out into the open waters of Comic-Con.

Starz isn't premiering the mature pirate drama until next year, but the first episode was screened for hundreds of fans – some dressed in pirate regalia – at a movie theater Thursday night during the pop-culture convention.

"Black Sails" cast members Zach McGowan, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Mark Ryan and Hakeem Kae-Kazim were on hand for the preview, which marked the first time for them to see the inaugural installment, too.

"I thought it sucked," joked McGowan, who plays ruthless Captain Vane. "No, it was awesome. It was really great to see it with everyone for the first time."

Before the screening at San Diego's Reading Cinemas, composer Bear McCreary and a band performed musical selections from the series.

With sweeping cinematography and gritty violence, the first episode centered on Toby Stephen's beleaguered Captain Flint as he sought to maintain control of his ship, the Walrus, and seek out a Spanish treasure fleet.

"Black Sails" creators Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine said they want their take on the pirate genre to be as realistic as possible. This is not "The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Show."

"The hope was to suck the truth out of everything we know that happened and turn it into something that felt real," said Steinberg. "What became clear to us very quickly is a pirate ship is the exact opposite of what you think it is. It's a mob. There's no adventure to being a guy who has to figure out how to corral a mob."

Suicidal Woman Mistaken For 'Kick-Ass' Marketing Stunt

0
0

Police rushed to the scene of an apparent suicide attempt in San Diego, Calif. after onlookers realized a woman hanging from a 14th floor balcony was not part of a Comic-Con marketing stunt.

The woman, who the Los Angeles Times reports was wearing green pants that suggested she was part of the "Kick-Ass 2" party that was being set up in the parking lot adjacent to the building she was hanging from, was initially thought to be part of some elaborate campaign for the movie. A character in the film wears a similar outfit.

That was not the case. "The call came in as a jumper,” a member of the San Diego Police Department told the paper. “A female hanging from a balcony. There was something thrown from the balcony and she was crying. After some negotiations, she was taken into custody." Authorities said the woman would be taken to a county mental health facility.

In late June, Jim Carrey announced that he would not be promoting the sequel to the popular film about crime fighting vigilantes -- despite appearing in the movie. Carrey says he had a change of heart about on-screen violence in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. (Given the timing, it's obvious the decision had nothing to do with the apparent suicide attempt.) "Kick-Ass" is known for being violent and scenes in which Chloe Moretz, then 11, used an extremely colorful expletive.

More information on Friday's incident is available at the LA Times' website. Video of the incident is available below the following information about suicide hotlines.

Big Update In Bitter Title Fight Between Hollywood Giants

0
0

The Weinstein Company and Warner Bros.' dispute over "The Butler" added another wrinkle late on Friday as the MPAA approved the former's use of the title "Lee Daniels' The Butler" for the upcoming film.

The Wrap appeared to break the news, followed closely by THR and Deadline.com. All industry publications had been following the story -- which sent Harvey Weinstein himself to the airwaves to put pressure on Warner Bros. and the MPAA -- for the duration of the conflict. The dispute centered on Warner Bros.' claim that a 1916 short film of the same name should be enough to prohibit TWC from using the words "The Butler" in the title for a new movie (more information on the original complaints and rulings below.)

Friday's news was touted as a victory by The Weinstein Company, which had previously been banned from using the words "The Butler" in any way in the film's title. The MPAA reversal (of sorts) comes with some restrictions: "All letters of all words in the title must be in the same size and prominence as the size and prominence of the word 'butler,' except if the name 'Lee Daniels' is used int he title, then 'Lee Daniels' must be of a size at least 75 percent and of equal prominence to the word 'butler.'"

The ruling, which came from the MPAA's Title Registration Bureau, did find The Weinstein Company in violation of a number of its provisions and levied fines of hundreds of thousands of dollars against the company ($400,000, for example, must be paid by July 26).

The MPAA's full ruling can be found here.

From our earlier coverage:

The battle between Warner Bros. and The Weinstein Company over the "The Butler" took another turn on Wednesday when director Lee Daniels sent a letter to Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara requesting that the studio back off from its attempt to force "The Butler" to change titles.

"I have spent the last four years of my life working on the film, 'The Butler,' and it is the proudest moment of my professional career. I am heartbroken as I write this letter to you," Daniels wrote in the letter, which was provided to Deadline.com and also The Hollywood Reporter. "If we were to change the title a mere six weeks before we open, it would most certainly hurt the film by limiting the number of people who would ultimately see this important story."

Daniels' film is based on the life of Eugene Allen, a White House staffer who served through eight administrations. Forest Whitaker stars in the film as the Allen stand-in, Cecil Gaines, and he's joined by an all-star cast that includes Oprah Winfrey, John Cusack, Robin Williams, Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Alan Rickman and Jane Fonda. Daniels, who has pushed the envelope in films like "Precious" and "The Paperboy," has said previously how difficult it was for him to even make a film like "The Butler," which is likely to score a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America (and, perhaps, Oscar nominations early next year).

“I can’t go into my bag of tricks on this one: no urination, no baby falling down the stairs, no cursing at all," he told THR. "We only have one ‘f-ck,’ which Lyndon Johnson gets. I felt like I directed the film in handcuffs and a muzzle."

Regardless of the process, "The Butler" is ready to go: The Weinstein Company has the film set for release on Aug. 16. The issue surrounding the film's title stems from the fact that Warner Bros. has a short film in its archive from 1916 that's also called "The Butler." As Variety reported, Warner Bros. won its arbitration case with the MPAA, but TWC has appealed the decision.

"The Warner Bros, 1916 short has not been displayed or exhibited for almost a century and there is no plausible basis to contend that there is any chance of confusion between the two productions," TWC lawyer David Boies said in a letter to Warner Bros. and the MPAA (provided, again, to Deadline.com).

It should be noted that many films have been released with the same title in the past, including Best Picture winners "Gladiator" and "Crash."

Jamie Foxx Backs Trayvon Martin's Mom 'Forever'

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Hours after President Barack Obama delivered remarks about Trayvon Martin and the George Zimmerman trial, Jamie Foxx and Samuel L. Jackson addressed the racially charged case at Comic-Con in San Diego.

Foxx was at the massive pop culture convention to promote his role as the villain Electro in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." Holding his 4-year-old daughter Annalise, who wore a Spider-Man backpack and shoes, Foxx said he was "disappointed" in the July 13 not guilty verdict in Florida.

He had been among the most vocal celebrities expressing support for Martin's family, having met the teen's mother Sybrina Fulton at an awards show.

"She's always been courageous in saying this has never been about race. She said it's about 17-year-old kids. We have to protect our kids. So I stand with her forever," Foxx said.

"It was great to see Bruce Springsteen in Ireland dedicate a song to Trayvon. I think that's what really makes it universal in the fact that we know that there's race involved, but to see all races coming together and saying that hey, there's something wrong," Foxx said. "There's something wrong when a 17-year-old child is on his way home and someone with a gun pursues him and he ends up losing his life."

Foxx said Martin's case was part of an "epidemic" of gun violence in the US.

"When you look at Sandy Hook and Aurora and all these different things where we're losing our children. Chicago — 67 kids, people killed in a week — we have an epidemic," he said. "And it's up to us as the grown folks to be smart enough and intelligent and nice to each other to have a difference of opinion, but also understand that we have to come to a solution."

Samuel L. Jackson was also on hand at the convention, promoting the remake of "RoboCop." He said he'd been out of the country for much of the trial and during the verdict, but expected the result.

"I'm not really surprised by it considering the way the case was presented and the representation that the family had, and the portrayals that they put out there of the kid and how peoples' attitudes are about those particular things," Jackson said.

Still, he said, he was "encouraged by the attitude of people after the verdict, that people are willing to stand up and take a stand and get out in the streets, and let their voices be heard."

WATCH: Jesse & The Rippers Reunite On 'Fallon'

Need a little Uncle Jesse in your life? You got it, dude! It’s been almost 20 years since Jesse and The Rippers performed together, but the fictional "Full House" band reunited on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on Friday and they absolutely delivered.

John Stamos, who played Jesse Katsopolis on "Full House," truly got in the spirit of the Jesse and The Rippers reunion, donning his signature mullet and black leather vest to sing a medley (above) of "Forever" by the Beach Boys, Elvis' "Little Sister," Chan Romero's "Hippy Hippy Shake" (which the band last performed at Walt Disney World on an episode of “Full House") and last, but certainly not least, the "Full House" theme song. Diehard "Full House" fans will notice the Smash Club sign hanging from the ceiling in Jesse and The Rippers' honor. Of course, Stamos threw in a "Have Mercy" mid-performance for good measure before he ran into the audience where fellow "Full House" alum Bob Saget danced along.

Lori Loughlin, who played Jesse's wife Rebecca (née Donaldson), even stopped by at the end of the performance to give Stamos a kiss. Whoa, whoa, whoa -- watch the hair, Aunt Becky!

Stamos is the second "Full House" alum to grace "Late Night" with his presence this week. On Thursday, Saget sat down and "Late Night" writer Arthur Meyer, a superfan of the comedian, who played Danny Tanner on the ABC series. Hilarity ensued, as you can see here.

'Doctor Who' Star: 'You'll Forget About Me'

This will likely be Matt Smith's last Comic-Con as the titular character in BBC's long-running hit "Doctor Who" and the actor is struggling to say goodbye. At Entertainment Weekly's Brave New Warriors panel (above), which also included Tyler Posey ("Teen Wolf") Kit Harington ("Game of Thrones"), David Guintoli ("Grimm") and Steven Yeun ("The Walking Dead"), the actor opened up about leaving the show after the 2013 Christmas special at the end of the year.

"It's been four years and the best four years. It's been wonderful. It's been a privilege to work with [executive producer] Steven Moffat, but I think, 'When you got to go, you go to go,'" Smith explained to the crowd, eliciting many exclamatory sounds from the audience. "It's sad and I'm going to miss it. I'm going to miss Comic-Con -- I love Comic-Con. The world should be more like Comic-Con. It wasn't an easy decision to come to, but ... you can't play it forever. And look, they'll get someone amazing [to play the Doctor]. They'll get someone brilliant to do it. They really will. And that's the great thing about the show is that it continues, and the strength of it survives, and it'll get better, and it'll get bigger, and it'll keep up, and you'll forget about me." Cue even more "no's" and "aw's" from the crowd.

Smith went on to say that he's having trouble hearing about how "Doctor Who" will go on once he's left. "Steven Moffat was actually pitching all the episode ideas for next season to me last night -- that was really hard," he admitted.

When asked what he would want to do if he were to return to "Doctor Who," Smith replied, "I'd always wanted to do an episode based on Sinatra ... or Atlantis."

But no matter how hard hearing about "Doctor Who" may be or whether or not he'll return, Smith said he'll always watch. "I'm a big fan as well as being in it," he said. "I'll follow it and they'll get a brilliant actor [to play the Doctor next]. To know it carries on is kind of lovely -- you're part of a legacy that doesn't die ... I'm a little cog in a big wheel. I'll keep watching for sure."

'Revenge' Adds Two More For Season 3

The "Revenge" Season 3 premiere just got bigger. "The Bible" star Diogo Morgado, who played Jesus Christ in History Channel's hit miniseries, will appear as a doctor when the ABC drama returns, TVLine reports.

According to the site, Morgado will play Dr. Jorge Velez in "Revenge's" Season 3 premiere, which airs on Sun., Sept. 29.

Morgado is hardly the only "Revenge" newcomer: "Pan Am" alumna Karine Vanasse booked a multi-episode arc in Season 3 of "Revenge," Deadline reports. The French-Canadian actress will play Margaux, a French businesswoman who comes to town to start a magazine and has a past with Daniel (Josh Bowman), according to the site.

Last week, ABC announced that former "Smallville" favorite Justin Hartley joined "Revenge" as Victoria Grayson's (Madeleine Stowe) firstborn son. The actor, who recently starred on The CW's "Emily Owens, M.D.," will play Patrick, the long lost son that 16-year-old Victoria gave to a nun when he was only 6 months old so that she could attend art school in Paris.

Patrick was technically introduced in "Revenge's" Season 2 finale in May when Victoria opened her front door and dropped her glass of red wine at the sight of Patrick (whose back was turned to the camera). Though the audience previously only heard his voice say, "Hello, Mother," fans will get to see him in the flesh in the "Revenge" Season 3 premiere this September..

Though Morgado, Vanasse and Hartley are joining the "Revenge" Season 3 cast, the ABC drama is also dealing with a few departures. The network previously confirmed that Ashley Madekwe (Ashley Davenport) and Connor Paolo (Declan Porter) will not return as regulars in the upcoming season. Plus, creator Mike Kelley stepped down as showrunner and "Revenge" writer Sunil Nayar will be taking over for Season 3.

Are you excited for the Season 3 premiere of "Revenge"? Who are you most looking forwarding to seeing on the show: Morgado, Vanasse or Hartley? Sound off in the comments!

"Revenge" Season 3 premieres on Sunday, September 26 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

While we are sometimes a little skeptical of Miley Cyrus' risky fashion choices, we have to admit that the metallic gold purse she wore in London on Thursday was amazing. We actually really want it ourselves.

Below, see the aforementioned gold bag along with the rest of our favorite accessories stars wore this week. Do you agree with us?

Miley Cyrus' Céline shoulder bag

miley cyrus

This metallic-gold bag is seriously making a statement. We love how its brightness can spark up a basic look. It makes it so easy to just throw on a simple dress or shirt and shorts and use the purse to stay noticeable.

Sharon Stone's blue-tinted tortoiseshell sunglasses

sharon stone

Seriously, how cool are these glasses? We love how they take the traditional retro tortoiseshell look up a notch and feature bright blue lenses. "When in Rome," right?

Olivia Palermo's Same Dress In Daytime And Nighttime Styles

olivia palermo

This is a prime example of how accessories can be used to transform a simple dress from day to night. Palermo kept things light and fresh during the day with nude flats and a great large summer tote bag. Then, she got funky at a nighttime event with very on-trend tribal-inspired shoes and a matching necklace.

Rita Ora's Damir Doma sandals

rita ora

White pumps are definitely trendy right now, so we love that Ora stepped out in these intricate white leather sandals. They definitely amp up her basic dress.

Katie Holme's Karen Walker glasses

katie holmes

Only Holmes could look this chic while taking Suri to gym class. While her tortoiseshell sunglasses aren't as funky as Stone's, we absolutely cannot get enough of Walker's designs and love how these boast an oversized dramatic flair.

Kate Moss' Christian Louboutin sandals

kate moss

This is how you add some oomph to an LBD. Moss' Louboutin sandals steal the show and we're not complaining. The multi-colored neon shoes are seriously eye-catching and fabulous.

Vanessa Hudgens' turban and Givenchy bag

vanessa hudgens

We feel as if only certain people can adequately wear a turban, and Hudgens proved that she is one of those lucky few when she stepped out with this awesome leather headpiece. Her Givenchy oversized bag is edgy and handy for running errands.

SAN DIEGO — Superman is coming back, and he may have a caped co-star.

"Man of Steel" director Zack Snyder announced Saturday at San Diego's Comic-Con that he was making another Superman film, then dropped a hint it may be with Batman.

He declined to reveal many details, saying the script is just being written, but he invited an actor onstage to read a passage to hint at the story line.

"I am the man who beat you," read Harry Lennox, before an image of the Superman logo, backed by the Batman symbol, flashed on the screen.

Incredible New Trailer For 'Catching Fire' Debuts

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" trailer that Lionsgate unveiled for fans at Comic-Con on Saturday afternoon is available for everyone to watch online right now. Here's the face you'll want to make after viewing this madness:

hunger games catching fire trailer

Not much else to say beyond that "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" looks better than "The Hunger Games" (the visual effects, in particular, are stronger), and that director Francis Lawrence seems to have been a fine choice to replace Gary Ross. Also, Jennifer Lawrence is fierce and perfect, but everyone knew that already.

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" stars Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Lenny Kravitz, Donald Sutherland, Elizabeth Banks and more.

"Catching Fire" is out on Nov. 22.

'X-Men' Assemble!

At the Fox Comic-Con panel in Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center on Saturday night fans were treated to a surprise appearance from the cast of "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Stars Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage and director Bryan Singer were all spotted before the panel started by Associated Press reporter Ryan Pearson.

Later, the entire cast came out to a standing ovation from the Hall H crowd:

x men comic con

The cast was in good spirits, with Fassbender wearing a mask from the upcoming horror film "You're Next" which he apparently found backstage. McKellen, meanwhile, joked that it was lovely to be in California "now that you got rid of Proposition 8."

"I'm looking for a husband," McKellen said to Fassbender. "Nice to meet you, Michael."

McKellen wasn't the only cast member in a ribald mood. Berry, who plays Storm in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" after starring in the first three "X-Men" films, joked that her character hasn't had much love in the series. "Is she asexual and nobody has told me?" Berry said.

The panel's high energy extended to Jackman as well. When he asked about a possible team-up with Iron Man, the actor joked that he didn't "want to be the one responsible for taking down Iron Man." To the surprise of fans, Jackman confirmed that he walked through Hall H on Saturday while dressed as Wolverine. He said not one person recognized him, but a fan did say he looked "too tall."

Fox didn't officially announce the "X-Men: Days of Future Past" panel before the festivities started. Vulture was the first to report its existence, however, while also revealing that some footage would also screen.

That footage showed the elder versions of Professor X (Stewart) and Magneto (McKellen) sending Wolverine (Jackman) back in time to help their younger selves (played by McAvoy and Fassbender). At the end, Stewart's Professor X tells McAvoy's Professor X that he "needs him."

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" had a large presence at Comic-Con thanks to a partnership with Carl's Jr. and Hardee's as well as a first look at some Trask Industries paraphernalia. (Bolivar Trask, played in the film by Dinklage, is the "X-Men" antagonist.)

The other films Fox teased at Comic-Con were "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" and "The Wolverine," which also stars Jackman as, fittingly, Wolverine. When a fan asked Singer if a Gambit film was in the offing, the director said that the team was "exploding all options." Singer also revealed that Deadpool would not be in the next "X-Men" film.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is set for release on May 24, 2014.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned for further updates from the Fox Comic-Con panel, where HuffPost senior writer Mike Ryan is stationed.

SAN DIEGO — Tom Cruise was almost as excited to be at Comic-Con as fans were to see him.

The megastar came to the pop-culture festival Saturday for the first time to showcase his latest film, "Edge of Tomorrow."

In the dark story set in the near future, Cruise's character is forced to become a metal-clad soldier. Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton also star, and both appeared with Cruise inside the San Diego Convention Center's largest hall.

Cruise told the crowd that he's always wanted to come to Comic-Con and was especially eager to see convention-goers' colorful costumes.

He said his greatest aspiration is to entertain, and he called it a dream and an honor.

"Edge of Tomorrow" is set for release next summer.

'Catching Fire' Burns Comic-Con

SAN DIEGO — The cast of "The Hunger Games" is making its Comic-Con debut, along with the trailer for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."

Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Lenny Kravitz were among the film's stars who watched the trailer for the first time Saturday with more than 6,000 dedicated fans.

Lawrence and Hutcherson also talked about their kissing scenes in the film. She said they involved "a lot of slobber."
