One of TV's hottest couples, Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev, have reportedly split.

The Vampire Diaries stars, who play smouldering Damon Salvatore and feisty Elena Gilbert, have allegedly called their three year romance a day, US Weekly claims.

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have split after 3 years, according to reoprts.

A source told the website they "will continue to work together and remain best friends".

A publicist for Dobrev told The Huffington Post the company does not comment on clients' personal lives. A representative for Somerhalder could not be reached for comment at the time of publication.

While we hope this news isn't true (they really are an adorable couple), it does mean one of the celeb world's most eco-eligible batchelors is back on the market.

Somerhalder was named the Most Responsible Celebrity at the International Green Awards in London last year, after receiving over 50% of the public vote from a shortlist that included actress Nadya Hutagalung and campaigner Livia Firth.

In his video acceptance speech, Somerhalder thanked the public for their support and appealed to all businesses and individuals to act responsibly and proactively in protecting the planet and its biodiversity.

As well as his acting work, he is known as a prolific environmental campaigner. His non-profit Foundation, which he set up in 2010, aims to support renewable energy projects, raise awareness of the impacts of deforestation, and to engage young people in environmental issues.

Somerhalder has said of his environmental work, "I don't know how to do anything else other than be an actor. If I wasn't in this, I would be in alternative energy and conservation."

Brenna Weingus: Hometown Visits Bring Out The Best In Candice, Angie & Kree

0
0

With three contestants left on "American Idol," the competition is neck and neck, and after last night's uniformly strong performances from each young woman, there's no telling who will make it to the finale. This week was the "Homecoming" episode, which allowed the contestants to visit their hometowns and reconnect with their roots before the performance show. The emotional episode gave the audience the chance to truly see Kree, Angie and Candice's journeys, both on and off the show. Each of them sang three times last night, first a song selected by Jimmy, next was the judges's pick, and last was the producers's choice. The night showed off the girls' versatility as performers, making for a tough decision between the final three. But who was the star of the night? And who might have sang their last song on the "Idol" stage?

Kree started off the night with Jimmy's choice of P!nk's "Perfect." Though the pop song didn't suit her typical style, Keith loved that no matter what she sings, she still has her own signature sound. Randy wasn't blown away by the song choice or performance and Mariah urged her not to hold back in her next performances.

Jimmy chose U2's "One" for Candice, a song Kree was completely unfamiliar with. No one ever would have known it was new to her, however, with all of the judges commending her for emotional connection to the song and Nicki declaring her to be a true diva.

Angie's first song of the night was Elton John's "Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word." The judges all agreed that it was a beautiful and understated rendition, with Mariah calling it one Angie's best performances to date. Nicki thought she could have felt the emotion a bit more, but recognized that Angie was bringing everything she had to win it.

Before Candice sang the judges's pick of "Next to Me," the audience got the chance to watch a clip of Candice's trip to her hometown, St. Helena Island. The video showed Candice's inspirational journey and rejuvenated her for her powerful rendition of the Emeli Sande hit. Nicki was moved by the performance and the video segment, telling Candice through tears that her confidence and comfort in who she is will inspire so many women.

The audience got a taste of Angie's hometown of Beverly, Massachusetts and Angie got her first true taste of stardom. Her uplifting trip prepared her for the judges's upbeat choice of P!nk's "Try," and her commanding performance of the song had all of the judges raving about her comfort on stage, with Randy telling her that she sounded amazing and Nicki declaring that she truly believed every word.

Kree's emotional trip to her town of Woodville, Texas showed her visiting the home she grew up in with her late parents. Her moving story segued perfectly into her beautiful performance of "Here Comes Goodbye." "I'm so in awe of the purity of you when you sing," Mariah told her.

Angie's final performance of the night had her at the piano with Emeli Sande's "Maybe" and truly depicted her journey and growth as a contestant. "You've come full circle," Nicki told her.

Kree let out her inner rocker with the Band Perry's "Better Dig Two." The judges didn't love the song choice for her, but they agreed that, regardless, she's an amazing performer. "When you leave this show, I am buying your album," Nicki told her.

Candice ended the night belting out "Somewhere" from West Side Story, and her powerful vocals had Keith asking, "How do you that?" and Randy declaring it to be one of the best vocals in "Idol" history.

"American Idol" airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.

Rihanna Shows MAJOR Skin In NY

Rihanna was definitely putting her figure on show in New York City yesterday. Leaving her hotel, the 25-year-old looked amazing in a tiny mint-colored miniskirt and a very low-cut, unbuttoned shirt.

Well, that's one way to show she's enjoying her newly acquired single life.

Posing with fans as she made her way to her car, the singer was headed to Da Silvano restaurant. Despite seeming pretty happy, RiRi's less than lucky love life has been a topic of conversation, after her boyfriend, Chris Brown, revealed that they had split.

During an interview with Australia's 2Day radio show "The Kyle and Jackie Show," Brown said he broke off their relationship because he felt he was too young to settle down.

Then later on, while performing in Brooklyn on her "Diamonds" world tour, Rihanna admitted she was currently confused by love following their breakup.

If you ask us, it looks like Rihanna is showing Chris exactly what he's missing.

8 Reminders That Leonardo DiCaprio Is Not Jay Gatsby

Leonardo DiCaprio is the definition of dapper in Baz Luhrmann's hotly anticipated adaptation of "The Great Gatsby," which opens Friday. But while he clearly wears the title character's Jazz Age polish well, we're here to remind you that the actor isn't always all pink linen suits and impeccably coiffed hair. Here are eight times Leo didn't look so Gatsby-like.

How 'The Office' Almost Had A 'Modern Family' Spinoff

0
0

"The Office" almost had a spinoff that sounds very similar to one of TV's top shows: "Modern Family."

In a TV Guide story, producers revealed there were talks to spinoff Ed Helms' Andy Bernard in a take on PBS's "An American Family."

"We were going to do a mockumentary version of the Loud family, with Helms' Andy as the dad and Catherine Tate [who later joined 'The Office' as Nellie Bertram] as the mom, living in a cul-de-sac somewhere in America. But in the intervening year, 'Modern Family' came out," Greg Daniels said. "And they did it."

Other "Office" spinoff ideas included a Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) family show, Craig Robinson getting his own show as Darryl and Dwight (Rainn Wilson) on his beet farm. "The problem was you didn't want to do anything that hurt the mother ship," former executive producer Michael Schur told TV Guide. "In Season 4 you couldn't take Jim and Pam from 'The Office.'"

"The Office" eventually produced the Dwight spinoff, "The Farm," which aired as an episode of "The Office," but NBC passed on it. Wilson told HuffPost TV that NBC passing on "The Farm" was "very disappointing." "We had worked really hard on it and I think created a really cool and different pilot," he said. "But it was kind of a relief in a way, because it's time to hang up the old Dwight bad haircut and glasses and move on."

After "The Office" wrapped, Wilson posted a photo of the sign-in sheet for the first day of casting, which included names like Adam Scott, Alan Tudyk and Mary Lynn Rajskub. And Daniels revealed to TV Guide that "Modern Family" star Eric Stonestreet was almost cast as Kevin, which went to Brian Baumgartner.

"Jenna [Fischer] was the perfect Pam," Daniels told TV Guide. "The only alternative to Jenna: I had a version in mind in which Pam was African American and so was [her boyfriend] Roy. It would have been Craig Robinson as Roy and Erica Vittina Phillips as Pam. I was flirting with that as part of Americanizing it."

For just two more weeks, "The Office" airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.

"Jeopardy!'s" Alex Trebek, who has been hosting the top-rated quiz show since 1984, has confirmed to me that he does not expect to continue with the show beyond 2016. "I suspect this might be my last contract," says the multiple Daytime Emmy winner. "I'm not going to go on forever. My contract expires in 2016. There is a time for all things and my time may be coming."

We were thrilled, albeit not too surprised, to hear that the 67th annual Tony Awards will be hosted by none other than Neil Patrick Harris, novice Instagrammer and star of "How I Met Your Mother."

The veteran master of ceremonies already has three Tony Awards ceremonies under his belt. Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! We're thrilled to see our beloved Barney Stinson where he feels most at home, in a tux, and relieved not to have to worry about any sort of Seth Macfarlane debacle.

See Harris open Broadway's biggest night in 2012 and let us know what you hope to see from the Emmy Award winning hunk in the comments.

The Tonys will air on CBS on Sunday, June 9, live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

'It Will Be Much Scarier Than Last Season'

The premiere of "American Horror Story: Coven" is still months away, but Evan Peters -- who played Kit Walker in "American Horror Story: Asylum" and the psychotic Tate Langdon in Season 1 of the FX series -- can't wait for viewers to see the third season.

"I'm excited. I think it's gonna be really scary -- much scarier than last season -- and it's gonna be fun. It's going to be really fun to shoot. I'm recharged and ready to go this round," Peters told Golden Derby during a Google Hangout interview.

Series co-creator Ryan Murphy is staying mum on the details and Peters admitted even he doesn't know much else about "American Horror Story: Coven."

"I just know I'll be working with Taissa [Farmiga] again. Kathy Bates is going to be in this season," he said. "Jessica Lange's back, Sarah Paulson's back and it takes place in New Orleans ... I'm scared, but I'm excited."

Peters had his fair share of torturous scenes in Season 2 of "American Horror Story," but the actor admitted to being most worried about stripping down for the camera again.

"How many butt shots am I gonna have to do this season?" he joked about his "American Horror Story: Coven" fears.

With Season 3 centering on witches and witch hunts, "AHS" fans can't wait to see what Bates will bring to the table ... but the actress doesn't know much more than Peters does.

"I don't know [my character will be like] 'til I've gotten in and walked around in her shoes, but I'm awfully excited," she said in March.

"American Horror Story: Coven" will premiere in October on FX.

Will Tyler Perry Make 'Madea' In Space?

0

Tyler Perry has had tremendous success with his fictional character Mabel "Madea" Simmons, but he won't be sending her to space anytime soon.

On HuffPost Live Wednesday, the media mogul expressed his love for science fiction films and said he does hope to create one of his own in the future.

"I can promise you it won't be 'Madea In Space,' but my favorite genre of film is sci-fi, I love sci-fi to no end," Perry told HuffPost Live's Jacob Soboroff.

Perry even made an appearance in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" movie in 2009, but said he won't be seen in the second film.

Perry also talked to HuffPost Live about his new partnership with Oprah Winfrey and his latest film, "Peeples."

WATCH: Tyler Perry Responds To His Critics

Producer Tyler Perry and writer/director Tina Gordon Chism joined HuffPost Live Monday to discuss their new film "Peeples." During the interview, Perry opened up about how he handles criticism of his work.

"I look for the truth in the critique," Perry told HuffPost Live's Jacob Soboroff. "If there's something in there that makes sense to me, I try to find it and say, "OK, I thought that,' but if it's vitriolic, if it's just venomous, I don't pay attention to it."

Perry said that to him what really matters are the letters he receives from fans, including those who tell him that his films have helped them overcome challenges or have entertained them in tough times.

"It's the people who are moved and keep coming to see them," he said.

Psy Cracks Jokes At Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — South Korean rapper PSY was welcomed to Harvard University on Thursday night by hundreds of screaming and shouting students and fans, as the "Gangnam Style" star participated in a conversation inside an ornate church dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives in World War I.

PSY began addressing students and faculty by noting that his presence at the Ivy League school "is so weird."

He recalled spending four years studying management at Boston University while marveling at Harvard from afar. He joked about his academic performance while at school in Boston, saying he was known by a nickname of WWF – which, he said, stands for withdrawal, withdrawal, failure.

The pop star, whose real name is Park Jae-sang, also joked that he's heard that he is the first person to make a speech at Harvard without a written script.

Harvard professor of Korean History Carter Eckert says the discussion is looking at PSY as a modern global digital culture phenomenon.

PSY cracked jokes throughout this speech and said he was very shocked as his "Gangnam Style" video went viral. He said he was overwhelmed by its success and doesn't realistically expect to replicate the feat.

"Gangnam Style" was YouTube's most-viewed video with more than 1.5 billion views, and his new single, "Gentleman" has more than 300 million views.

"Gangnam style was not normal. Gangnam was not standard – that was an accident and accidents don't happen often," he said.

PSY wondered aloud why American TV news shows start so early, joking that he had a brutal experience waking up early for rehearsal for appearances on morning news shows.

He also recalled joining Madonna for rehearsal, saying he was surprised when she told him that he can touch her body anywhere while they were on stage.

"I cannot say I've been the best, but I can say I've done my best for 13 years" as a musician, he said.

'Wipeout': Twisted Leg Freaks Out Returning Host Jill Wagner

0

It must be getting close to summer time as "Wipeout" is back for a new season on ABC. Everybody's favorite show where people get contorted and twisted into unnatural shapes while falling off the world's craziest obstacle course chases away the winter blues. But one contestant on this premiere didn't need the obstacle course to get twisted.

Greg Lozano impressed/freaked out returning co-host Jill Wagner by twisting his leg completely backwards. Sure, it's not necessarily a skill that would prove helpful on the course, but it was certainly a memorable way to start a new season. Greg didn't win the $50,000 prize, but he did advance all the way to the third round before the course claimed victory.

This season marks the return of Jill to the show. She was one of the original co-hosts, but left in 2011 to "pursue her acting career." Her return meant fans had to say goodbye to her temporary replacement, Vanessa Lachey.

The new season of "Wipeout" -- it's sixth! -- continues with a special episode next Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET, and then on its regular night of Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

'Two And A Half Men': Choosing Between Hilary Duff And Marilu Henner

0

Turns out Walden may not be the billionaire playboy he once was. On the season finale of "Two and a Half Men," he was dating Stacey, a 22-year-old party girl played by Hilary Duff. But she was so vapid that he found himself inexplicably drawn to her grandmother one night when he brought the drunk girl home.

Her grandmother, played by Marilu Henner, was beautiful as well as intelligent and accomplished. Walden was blown away by her photography and the experiences she's had -- and the great marijuana she has. She tried to encourage Walden to get out and see the world, but all he wanted to see was the inside of her bedroom

When her granddaughter inevitably caught the two of them together, she wasn't bothered at all. She was glad her grandma was with an "older" guy. Sure, there was nothing groundbreaking about anything that happened in the episode, but it was consistent. Zap2It notes that "smutty sex jokes and embarrassingly predictable plotting” formula has kept 'Men' on the air for 10 seasons -- and it’ll be back for at least one more."

Entertainment Weekly thought both actresses did a good job, despite sub-par material. "Both characters were barely-written uni-dimensional placeholders, and the subplot — which saw Kutcher fall for Henner — was absurdly no-stakes," they wrote. "But Henner brought some flirty charm to the role, and Duff did her best with bargain-bin gags about bulimia and jokes about how stupid blondes are stupid and funny hahaha.”

'Community' Finale: Can Darkest Timeline Stop Jeff's Graduation

0
0

Jeff Winger finally achieved everything he'd been hoping to achieve at Greendale in the "Community" finale. It was time to graduate. But as the community college didn't have a traditional graduation ceremony, Annie and the Dean concocted one for him that was more similar to a wedding -- with the Human Being standing in for the bride.

And for the first time in four seasons, Jeff was without a speech. "I’m so used to being the guy who can talk his way out of anything, but what do you say when you don’t want a way out? What you all have done for me is indescribable. It’s unbelievable.”

Abruptly, Pierce showed up as well, eager to finally graduate after years and years of college. It was a clever way to sneak in a farewell for Chevy Chase -- who left the show midway through the season -- as well as establish a reason for him to not be around should the show get picked up.

Before the big graduation, though, it was the return of "the darkest timeline" from the benchmark episode "Remedial Chaos Theory." Evil Jeff had crossed the barrier to destroy the happier Jeff in this timeline, but of course the whole thing was really playing out in Jeff's head. It was also an excuse to return paintball to the show. But it was all a feint, as Jeff graduated, leaving a big question mark for the future of the show.

TVLine thought the episode wrapped things up so nicely, that it should just go ahead and be the series finale. But The AV Club was more mixed on that, as they weren't impressed with the episode at all. "Part of me wonders if this episode doesn’t prove that 'Community' should be canceled, and possibly killed with fire, but part of me also thinks a fifth season now must happen, if only so this isn’t the way the whole show ends," they wrote.

NBC has yet to announce the fate of this show, but has its annual upfront presentation on Monday. At the latest, fans should find out its fate by then.

'The Vampire Diaries': The Veil Comes Down And Someone Dies

0
0

It was guest-star-apalooza on "The Vampire Diaries" as Bonnie brought down the veil around Mystic Falls. Virtually everyone who has died in the course of the hit CW show returned, for good or bad. It was all part of a ploy to eliminate Silas, but her grandmother told her she could have just done it by using expression and dark magic.

Unfortunately, while Bonnie was successful in returning Silas to stone, she wanted more. Elena got a much-needed reunion with Jeremy, which helped her fully regain her humanity. When she'd originally turned it back on, she did so with a focus on killing Katherine. Seeing Jeremy again helped her come back fully, where she can now start to deal with all of her emotions.

Unfortunately, Bonnie got a little greedy after seeing Jeremy for a bit. The two had been falling for one another when Jeremy died, and so Bonnie was probably trying to bring him back as much for herself as for Elena. But this isn't the kind of magic she should be doing, as the spirit of her grandmother warned her.

Midway through the spell, she collapsed to the ground. When she awoke, the veil was still down and her Grams was there. But she had bad news. "I’m sorry, Bonnie. The spell, it was just too much," her grandmother told her. And then Bonnie saw it. Her own body was lying nearby.

“Oh my God,” she realized. "I’m dead.”

E! Online was ready to mourn her death when they realized what she'd actually done. "She was able to bring down the veil, meaning she can stick around as a ghost and fans will get to see Bonnie graduate and all that jazz...for now," they wrote. "Definition of crazy? Hell, yes—and we love it!”

Next week is graduation, and the season finale of "The Vampire Diaries." Will the veil stay down? Will Bonnie stay dead? Come back on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on The CW to find out.

'The Office': Can Dwight And Angela Have A Happy Ending?

0
0

Darryl got to say goodbye to the gang, even if he was trying to avoid it, on the penultimate installment of "The Office." But it was Dwight who continued to build up to a happy ending. Last week, he got the manager position he'd been wanting since the pilot nine years ago. This week, he got the girl.

It took a pep talk from Jim to convince him that it all comes down to love and that Dwight loves Angela. Of course he does, and she loves him, too. But they're both such complicated and dysfunctional people they've never been able to come together. But this is a new Dwight who's grown and is willing to take a stand and just put it out there.

But first, he had to force her to pull over and then assault her by talking through a bullhorn. "I love you," he told her. "And I don’t care that Phillip’s not my son. I will raise a hundred children with a hundred of your lovers if it means I can be with you.”

He then got on one knee and proposed. After saying yes, Angela had one more surprise for him. "Phillip is your son,” he told her. He wanted Dwight to choose her for her and not because she was mother to his son. TV.com said it must be true love, as Angela agreed to wear an engagement ring that had come out of Dwight's grandma's butt.

The episode ended with the premiere of the documentary. For next week's series finale, events jump forward six months to Dwight and Angela's wedding, which E! Online can't wait to see.

Tune in to "The Office" retrospective at 8 p.m. ET next Thursday followed by the 75-minute series finale at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.

'Scandal': Shocking Mole Reveal

0
0

After a season of guessing on the part of both the audience and the cast, "Scandal" was finally ready to reveal the identity of the mole. The reveal caused Olivia to drop her jaw, but we suspect she wasn't the only one who's mouth was agape at that moment.

“Billy Chambers," Harrison told her. "Billy Chambers is the mole.”

TVLine thought it was a pretty big reveal, especially considering that Billy Chambers -- who was Sally Langston's chief of staff -- had been assumed dead. And Billy's not working alone.

A scene showed Billy in a limo saying, “Now we can start having some fun.” An expanded shot revealed that he was talking to David Rosen.

“And not only is Billy Chambers the mole -- he's in cahoots with David Rosen!" marveled Entertainment Weekly. "Suddenly, it all starts to make sense. The two guys who had their lives ruined at the hands of the Grant administration are working together. It's revenge, plain and simple."

See how Olivia and her team respond to this news on next week's big "Scandal" finale, Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.

'Grey's Anatomy': Will Lauren Come Between Arizona And Callie?

0

Arizona has gone through a lot lately, but does that justify her behavior during the hurricane that hit this week on "Grey's Anatomy." One thing's for sure, though, there's a bigger storm coming when and if this news makes it's way to Callie.

When the lights came back on, Arizona was kissing Lauren. It was as if the lights turned on her conscience as well, as she quickly pulled away and tried to re-formalize their relationship. "It was a pleasure meeting you," she told Lauren.

But Lauren would not be dissuaded so easily. "Arizona," she said. "You are allowed to lose a little bit control.”

And so she did. And then Lauren started losing her clothes. The whole thing made E! Online's list of OMG TV moments for Thursday night.

Buddy TV thought this was a truly sad moment for fans of Callie and Arizona together. "Having endured Cristina aborting Owen's baby, Owen getting drunk and having a one night stand, and Cristina's sex friend (not to mention having to put up with Teddy for two and a half seasons) I get that you must be heartbroken right about now," they said to those fans. "You have my condolences. This is bad, bad stuff. And while we're at it? Poor Callie. Seriously.”

Will Callie find out in next week's season finale? Tune in to "Grey's Anatomy" on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC to find out.

'Hannibal': Gillian Anderson Sees Through Hannibal's Veil

0

Now that it's been revealed that Hannibal is the Ripper everyone is looking for on "Hannibal," the psychiatrist's murderous tendencies were shown more more blatantly. While viewers still haven't seen him brutally murder or dismember anyone, there were enough shots of him selecting his victims and then cooking their entrails to make it very clear what happened.

This added layer of menace makes it even more intriguing to watch him interacting with others. No one on the show has interacted with him as much, perhaps, as his own psychiatrist, Dr. Bedelia du Maurier, played by Gillian Anderson.

She made her debut this week, where she called Hannibal out for putting on this public persona that is nowhere near the real him. "You are wearing a very well-tailored ‘person suit,'" she told him. "Maybe it’s less of a person suit, and more of a human veil. That must be lonely.”

ScreenCrush was a fan of the "X-Files" star's debut into this dark world, while the Wall Street Journal noted that she may be the only person who can see through the front Hannibal puts up. She admitted to keeping him on as a patient despite her retirement because of the "intrigue." But will she ever see the monster beneath the veil?

The dark adventure continues on "Hannibal," Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
