AnnaSophia Robb Talks Austin Butler And 'The Carrie Diaries' (PHOTOS)

From her unique fashion obsession to gallivanting around New York City on school nights, Carrie Bradshaw on The CW's new series, "The Carrie Diaries," is as glamorous as any '80s teenager could be. Though her character sometimes lives in a young fashionista's fantasy, AnnaSophia Robb -- the actress who stars as Carrie -- is actually a normal, super laid-back 19-year-old. (Though maybe with a better closet.)

In a cover interview with Seventeen magazine, the teen actress opened up about her high school days, why she isn't headed off to college just yet and what it's like to work on the set of "The Carrie Diaries" with co-star Austin Butler.

Scroll down for photos from AnnaSophia's Seventeen photo shoot.

Making the choice between going to college and working on "The Carrie Diaries" wasn't an easy one for AnnaSophia, but she ultimately chose to trust her instincts and defer admission from Stanford University.

"I’m a spiritual person. So I prayed and thought about it a lot, but I trusted my gut, because what else do you have to go on?" she said.

School aside, she spilled details of her on-screen romance with Austin, which isn't as romantic as viewers might think -- though his relationship with his girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens, seems to be.

"One of the biggest challenges for us is to be sexy and flirty on camera because we just can’t take each other seriously any more. Kissing on camera isn’t that fun! But he’s so cute!" she said. "He [Austin] talks about Vanessa [Hudgens] all the time. They’re crazy in love! I don’t think I’m ready to be that in love. They put so much time into their relationship, and I’m too selfish right now."

AnnaSophia also explained how she dealt with high school drama.

"I think girls are especially worried about being judged, and when you’re in high school, everything seems like a bigger deal than it is. So do what you want, and if people are going to judge you for it, who cares? You might not fit in, but that’s okay."

Joseph Erbentraut: Remembering Ebert As A Uniter Of A Segregated City

$

It's been incredible, if not surprising, to watch the essays of remembrance pile up in the days following the tragic death of America's film critic Roger Ebert.

I never was fortunate enough to meet the man beyond reading his always spot-on reviews, but his loss to cancer has depressed me -- especially after surveying the many remembrances. Though many of the words from Ebert's family, friends, colleagues and fans alike have been touching, what has struck me most is their near-uniformity: Whether someone worked alongside the man for decades, received an email from him once or simply retweeted him regularly, the majority of the memories carry a certain air of repetition.

This, too, is to be expected due not only to Ebert's prolificness through his television work, writing and (in his later years) social media presence, but also because of something that Jim DeRogatis pointed out in his tribute written for WBEZ: "[I]f you read him or watched him (really watched him) on television, you pretty much did know him. There wasn't a significant difference between the public and private Ebert. What you saw was what you got."

It takes a very particular type of personality to maintain that air of familiarity in a way completely lacking in pretension. And as a few different people have pointed out in recent days, he was a uniter of a deeply divided city in a way comparable only to the likes of Michael Jordan or Oprah -- both of whom came to Chicago, made their impact and then left. But Roger never left. He never would have.

Chicago is the nation's most segregated city and, if the broader impact of the soon-to-be-implemented massive public school closings largely on the city's west and south sides is to be considered, that doesn't appear to be changing anytime soon.

During a recent interview with a King College Prep senior -- a classmate and friend of 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, who was fatally shot in January a week after performing as part of President Obama's second inauguration -- for a forthcoming video series about gun violence for HuffPost, I was struck by one of his comments.

When I asked this student, who lives in Washington Park, whether he felt safe in Chicago since his friend's fatal shooting, his answer surprised me. Contrary to the stereotype of the South Side as the quintessential "wrong place at the wrong time" all the time, in the words of another teen I recently spoke with, he said that where he lived, went to school and spent time with his friends, he did.

But a perception of safety is another matter, he told me, when he leaves his comfort zone. Away from the blocks and the neighborhoods he frequents, he said he felt unsure of his actions and nervous due to not being familiar with the social strata of a different neighborhood.

When segregation along the lines of race, income and education in Chicago are discussed -- and that doesn't happen nearly as often as it should -- it frequently is reduced to dichotomies resembling our city's Cubs-Sox baseball rivalry: North vs. South, White vs. Black, Rich vs. Poor, Employed vs. Unemployed.

But the problem is infinitely more multi-faceted than that. Two other students I recently spoke with talked about the divide between themselves, who attend a selective enrollment school in West Englewood, and the students who attend another school just four blocks away: Harper High School, where a devastating 27 current or recent students were victims of shootings over the last year.

A CPS monitor who keeps an eye on students at the selective enrollment school as they wait for buses or head to the Green Line station to take them home said the two student populations couldn't be more different -- and that tension sometimes erupts into the sort of conflict that can make getting to and from school not just challenging, but potentially life-ending.

How can we as a city learn and grow when we're unable or unwilling to experience our city -- and by association, our nation and our world -- as a whole? Through his incomparable writing ability, Ebert helped us to achieve this in a way that can be difficult to navigate even within our own city. And, yes, he united us in a way few "celebrities" do.

As Chaz Ebert said so eloquently during Ebert's Monday memorial at Holy Name Cathedral, her husband will forever be remembered as a "soldier for social justice."

"And it didn't matter to him, your race, creed, color, level of ability, sexual orientation, he had a heart big enough to accept and love all," Chaz continued Monday.

Ebert's work provides endless examples of his efforts to unite, particularly in his championing of independent works and films presenting complicated-at-times, controversial-to-some stories centered on racial, sexual and other minorities. In Chicago, he lauded the work of director Steve James in "The Interrupters" and "Hoop Dreams," and offered a nuanced perspective on the impact of young gang membership on the city's South Side as a product of a "universal human characteristic." His take on the film and so many others helped urge Chicagoans to more compassionately consider a Chicago alien to their own.

"Are gangs protecting their turfs for drug sales? Not primarily," Ebert wrote of "The Interrupters" in 2011. "They are protecting it because -- it is theirs. If you walk on the wrong side of the street, you may be inviting death. This is pathetic, but enforcing gang turfs provides some of these children and teenagers with the only source of self-esteem they find available. Sometimes they join gangs out of a fearful instinct for self-protection."

Our mourning city's divisions run deep. With Ebert no longer with us, who remains with the same ability, drive and bravery to inspire our city to rise above our many, many challenges -- many of which share segregation at their root? In my opinion, no one.

Russell Westbrook is such a mama's boy. And we say that in the best possible way.

The Oklahoma City Thunder baller, who graces the cover of ESPN magazine's April 2013 issue, revealed to the glossy that he seeks his mother's approval when it comes to his style.

I ask my mom. She knows what’s up. Before a game, I’ll walk over to her and she’ll tell me no or yeah or to change my shoes. Or, if she’s not in town, I’ll text her a picture. I’ll also ask my brother or my girlfriend, but she’s grown to like my style.

Awwww, how cute!

The top-notch athlete, who traded in his uniform for a colorful ensemble of designer duds in the issue, has been attracting a lot of attention thanks to his flamboyant wardrobe. After Esquire magazine named her "Sexiest Woman Alive" last year, Details magazine is bestowing a similar, if not more questionable, title upon Mila Kunis: "The Most F*ckable Celebrity."

The "Oz: The Great and Powerful" star raked 41 percent of the votes based on their online poll, crowning her the winner "of your sexual fantasies," per Details. Kate Upton follows with 32 percent of the votes and Jennifer Lawrence is right behind with an impressive 27 percent.

But that's not all -- Details also polled their readers about the men they'd like to get down and dirty with and (wait for it ... ) everyone's boyfriend Ryan Gosling beat the rest of mankind with 50 percent of the votes.

Zac Efron follows closely with 45 percent of the votes and "Maroon 5" frontman Adam Levine gets 36 percent, meaning a third of the population -- if we pretend for a moment that a "Who'd You Do" poll is representative in any way -- would get it on with Levine. Then again, that sounds about right!

Huge Blockbuster Shutdown Before Production

Did the King of the Jungle just lose his throne? According to Deadline.com, pre-production work on the years-in-the-making reboot of "Tarzan" has been shutdown by Warner Bros. The project could still spring to life again at some point in 2014.

Warner Bros. has been trying to make a "Tarzan" movie since May of 2011. As Deadline.com reported at the time, Warner Bros. commissioned two scripts for the film, which is based on the Edgar Rice Burroughs series. "Footloose" director Craig Brewer, who wrote one of the scripts, was attached to direct "Tarzan" in 2011, but he was replaced by David Yates in November of 2012. Yates had previously directed four "Harry Potter" films for Warner Bros.

Following Yates' attachement, the "Tarzan" cast came together: Alexander Skarsgard ("True Blood") was hired to play the title vine-swinger, while Samuel L. Jackson and Oscar-nominated "Zero Dark Thirty" star Jessica Chastain were reportedly involved in negotiations as well. According to this most recent Deadline.com report, Jamie Foxx was also supposedly up for a role.

This isn't the first time Warner Bros. has put the brakes on a big movie: Last year, the studio stopped plans to make "Jersey Boys," though that project could find its way back to the studio with Clint Eastwood as director.

AshLee Frazier, who made it to the final three on Sean Lowe's season of the hit ABC series, is dating former "Bachelor" star Brad Womack, Us Weekly confirms. An insider tells the mag that the pair first met at an event in Texas and have been hanging out ever since.

Frazier even posted a photo of her and Womack on Instagram this week, writing, "Game day. Who's the real winner here? #Astros #twoTexaskids #wgt."

Oddly enough this couple is connected in more ways than one. Let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we "Bachelor" fans?

Brad Womack was engaged to Emily Maynard, who ended up becoming the "Bachelorette" after their breakup. She went on to date Sean Lowe, who became the newest "Bachelor" after their split. Lowe then dated AshLee Frazier on his season, before sending her home and ultimately picking Catherine Giudici in the end.

Jay-Z Selling His Stake?

NEW YORK (AP) — The Brooklyn Nets are losing one of their biggest names as they prepare for the playoffs.

Jay-Z owned just a little piece of the team, but was a large presence when the franchise changed homes and identities this season.

The rap mogul is selling his stake in the Nets so he can become certified as a player agent, possibly before the end of the season. The process is underway, with paperwork already filed, a person with knowledge of the details said Wednesday.

NBA rules prevent anyone from being involved in ownership and player representation.

Yahoo Sports, which first reported Jay-Z's plans, said his Roc Nation company has partnered with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and hopes to compete for players in this June's NBA draft.

Jay-Z owns less than 1 percent of the Nets, but has had a major impact with the franchise's move to his hometown. He had input and in some cases complete control of everything from the interior of the $1 billion Barclays Center to the design of the team's black-and-white uniforms, which he debuted himself during his run of eight sold-out concerts in September that served as the debut of the arena.

A spokesman for Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, did not respond to a message.

Friendly with LeBron James and a number of sports superstars, Jay-Z could quickly make Roc Nation a force in the agency field. The company recently signed New York Yankees All-Star Robinson Cano. The Nets hoped his reputation and friendships would help them three years ago when James led a loaded field of free agents, but the Nets, then playing in Newark, failed to land any of them.

Jay-Z attended only a handful of games this season, but his affiliation with the franchise provided a necessary buzz for its first season in Brooklyn. He sat in his courtside seat next to wife Beyonce in November when the Nets beat the Knicks in their first matchup as New York rivals, providing the trash talk afterward when he tweeted that the city was under new management.

The Nets have clinched their first playoff berth since 2007 and are in position to have home-court advantage in their first-round series.

How Long Will You Have To Wait For The Movie?

It was recently announced that Netflix will release 15 new episodes of "Arrested Development" on Memorial Day weekend, seven years after the beloved series was canceled.

"Arrested Development," which stars Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, and Michael Cera, among others, is also set for a film adaptation, but Bateman says fans are in for a much longer wait for "Arrested Development: The Movie."

Bateman explained in a recent interview that the new Netflix episodes ask "a bunch of questions that then the movie answers, so it's kind of a package."

The questions won't be answered anytime soon however, as Bateman added, "Unfortunately, there's probably gonna be about a year, maybe a year-and-a-half gap between the two, so you'll end up having to watch these episodes again... It wasn't perfectly scheduled, but we were just happy to get together as soon as we could."

The film itself is still not guaranteed. "Arrested Development" creator Mitch Hurwitz explained in January that the only time the entire cast would reunite is for a film adaptation of the show, but plans for the movie are still up in the air.

'Buckwild' Stars SOUND OFF

$

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — MTV said Wednesday it is canceling its West Virginia-based reality TV show "BUCKWILD" a week after the accidental death of 21-year-old star Shain Gandee.

Network spokesman Jake Urbanski confirmed the news, saying it was "not an easy decision."

"But given Shain's tragic passing and essential presence on the show, we felt it was not appropriate to continue without him," the network said. "Instead, we are working on a meaningful way to pay tribute to his memory on our air and privately."

On Sunday, MTV will air a special, "BUCKWILD: WV to the NYC," which was shot before second-season filming had begun. The network said Shain's parents, Dale and Loretta Gandee, support the move.

Gandee and two others were found dead of carbon monoxide poisoning on April 1. Gandee's SUV was stuck in a mud pit near his home in Sissonville, its tail pipe submerged. That could have allowed the invisible gas to fill the vehicle's cabin.

Gandee, his 48-year-old uncle, David Gandee, and 27-year-old friend Donald Robert Myers had last been seen leaving a bar at 3 a.m. March 31. Friends and family searched all day for them, and authorities issued a missing-persons report the following day.

The Gandees were buried Sunday after a joint memorial service in Charleston that drew hundreds of friends, family and fans. Cameras were not allowed inside the Charleston Municipal Auditorium or at the private family burial in Thaxton Cemetery.

Shain Gandee, nicknamed "Gandee Candy" by fans, was a breakout star of the show that followed the antics of young friends enjoying their wild country lifestyle. Season one was filmed last year, mostly around Sissonville and Charleston.

Gandee favored four-wheelers, pickups and SUVs over cellphones and computers, and "mudding," or off-road driving, was one of his favorite pastimes. It was no coincidence some mourners arrived in mud-splattered trucks.

Shooting was underway on season two at the time of Gandee's death, but MTV said film crews were not with him over Easter weekend and hadn't filmed him since earlier that week.

MTV said the half-hour series in the old "Jersey Shore" time slot was pulling in an average of 3 million viewers per episode since its premiere and was the No. 1 original cable series on Thursday nights among 12- to 34-year-olds.

Some fans reacted angrily to the decision on social media, launching a campaign to keep the show alive using the hash tag (hash)KeepBuckwildForShain on Twitter. Cast member Cara Parrish was also among those objecting.

"I think MTV should show reality. Losing Shain broke all our hearts," Parrish tweeted.

Although the idea of filming without Gandee "hurts me clear through my soul," she wrote, "the thought of turning our backs on his dreams is worse."

But many others, including some at Gandee's funeral, said the show just wouldn't have been the same without him.

The network issued a statement from Loretta and Dale Gandee, thanking fans for their thoughts and prayers.

"We have truly felt all the love and know that Shain is resting peacefully," they said. "Shain was an incredible, outgoing and positive person who was loved by whoever he met. We are honored that we were able to let the world see what a wonderful son we had."

Shain Gandee was the third BUCKWILD cast member to make unwanted headlines.

Last month, 24-year-old Salwa Amin was sent back to jail for violating the terms of her bond following a February arrest on drug charges. She is facing two counts of drug possession with intent to deliver and remained behind bars without bond on Wednesday.

State Police say a multi-agency task force arrested Amin and two other people at a Summersville residence after receiving a tip from an informant. A search found oxycodone pills, heroin and $3,000 in cash.

Another cast mate, Michael Douglas Burford, was charged in February with driving under the influence.

Some detractors, including U.S. Sen. and former West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin, had publicly worried about the show and its cast before the first episode aired.

Manchin asked MTV to cancel the show, telling the network's president that it would profit from the "poor decisions of our youth" and that it played to ugly, inaccurate stereotypes about the people of West Virginia.

Taylor Swift, eat your heart out.

Its good to know that even in the midst of their globe-trotting, teenage heart palpitations-inducing "Take Me Home" tour, the lads of One Direction haven't lost their adolescent sense of humor.

In front of a screaming-only crowd of 20,000 London's O2 Arena this weekend, cheeky bandmate Liam Payne pantsed lead singer Harry Styles, revealing some very skimpy undergarments.

As the fans reacted with glee, Styles struggled to cover himself up while continuing the group's pop hit "What Makes You Beautiful." The confetti cannons were just icing on the cake.

Always full of surprises, those One Direction guys. Remember when Liam and Zayn Malik ripped open Styles' shirt onstage during a concert last year?

The band sent the tween Twitterverse into an unrelated tizzy this week after video surfaced online that shows either Harry--or one of his One Direction buddies -- suggestively added his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift's name to the end of a line from "Little Things."

The amateur footage shows Styles and co. perched atop a beam at a recent concert. As Styles sings "I’m in love with you" someone adds in "Taylor Swift." Sneaky, sneaky.

Flava Flav Headed To Court

LAS VEGAS — Entertainer Flavor Flav is facing a trial on felony charges that he threatened his longtime girlfriend's 17-year-old son with a butcher knife during a family argument.

The 54-year-old former rap and reality TV star, whose legal name is William Jonathan Drayton Jr., didn't testify during a Wednesday evidence hearing in Las Vegas Justice Court.

But the teen did. He pointed from the witness stand toward Drayton at the defendant's table, identified him as the man wearing a clock around his neck, and told Justice of the Peace Melanie Andress-Tobiasson that Drayton chased him to a bedroom and stabbed the knife through the door during the argument early Oct. 17.

The teen quoted the obscenity he says Drayton used as the rapper threatened to kill him. Drayton was standing 2 feet away with the knife still in his hand, the boy said.

The Associated Press is not reporting the boy's name because he is a juvenile.

The argument began when Drayton woke the boy during a 3 a.m. argument with the boy's mother, Elizabeth Trujillo, with whom he has lived for about eight years. It escalated when the teen, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound high school football and basketball player, wrestled the 5-foot-6 Drayton into a head lock in the kitchen.

"I told him, `You're not going to talk to my mom like that,'" he testified. "He pushed me. ... I pushed him."

Defense attorney Tony Abbatangelo later told the judge he believed Drayton may have been acting in self-defense when he allegedly grabbed the butcher knife, a steak knife and a pizza cutter during the scuffle.

Abbatangelo noted that a police report didn't include the quote the teen recalled Wednesday.

Andress-Tobiasson said the evidence was enough to bind Drayton over to state court for trial.

She set arraignment for April 18 on felony charges of assault with a weapon and child endangerment that could get Drayton up to 12 years in prison if he's convicted. Drayton also faces a misdemeanor domestic violence battery charge.

Abbatangelo said he'll seek to postpone arraignment because Drayton will be out of town April 18 while he and other members of the rap group Public Enemy are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Abbatangelo said Drayton plans to plead not guilty.

Reebok Gives Rick Ross The Boot

It seems Rick Ross is truly feeling the domino effect of his words. The rapper stirred controversy with his verse in the song 'U.O.E.N.O.' that seemed to glorify date rape, and now he's being hit where it hurts--in his pocket.

The Maybach Music Group frontman has reportedly been dropped by Reebok as the company's spokesperson, TMZ reports. The report comes only a few days after a group of activists and rape survivors demanded Reebok show the rapper the door.

"By holding Rick Ross up as something to aspire to, Reebok is sending the message that raping a woman is cool -- and that's a dangerous message to send the boys and young men that Reebok markets to. This is what rape culture is," a petition drafted by UltraViolet states.

Ross did offer an apology both via an official statement and on Twitter, but that didn't seem to satisfy his partners.

"Reebok holds our partners to a high standard, and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand. Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so," Reebok told TMZ. "While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones sexual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse."
