Cuban-American U.S. Representatives Angered By Jay-Z, Beyoncé Cuba Visit

MIAMI -- Beyonce and Jay-Z's trip to Cuba has angered two Cuban-American politicians who are demanding information on whether the couple's visit to the communist island was licensed.

U.S. Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart of Florida have written to the U.S. Department of Treasury expressing concern about the trip. In the letter, both said they represent a community that has been "deeply and personally harmed by the Castro regime's atrocities."

"The restrictions on tourism travel are commonsense measures meant to prevent U.S. dollars from supporting a murderous regime that opposes U.S. security interests at every turn and which ruthlessly suppresses the most basic liberties of speech, assembly and belief," the GOP lawmakers wrote.

John Sullivan, a Treasury spokesman in Washington, said he could not comment on specific licenses. He said the agency was working on a response to the letter from Ros-Lehtinen and Diaz-Balart.

Beyonce and Jay-Z marked their fifth wedding anniversary in Havana last week. The state-run website CubaSi called it a tourist trip. The artists declined to speak with reporters.

U.S. citizens are not allowed to travel to Cuba for mere tourism, though they can obtain licenses for academic, religious, journalistic or cultural exchange trips. The so-called people-to-people licenses were reinstated under the Obama administration and are designed to help promote civil society and independence from Cuban authorities.

The U.S. government tightened requirements to obtain the licenses last year after Cuban-American Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., criticized the programs as cover-ups for tourism. Rubio derided groups that were granted licenses for activities such as salsa dancing and a trip to the Cuban Ministry of Culture.

The U.S. Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control issued new requirements last May that required travel operators to provide detailed information on every aspect of their trip.

On Monday, Rubio tweeted that if Jay-Z really wanted to know what Cuban life is like, he should have visited dissident rapper Angel Yunier Remon. Rubio closed his tweet with the hashtag "99problems&dictatorsareone," a reference to Jay-Z's song "99 Problems."

During the R&B power couple's trip to Cuba, they ate at the renowned, privately run La Guarida restaurant and toured colonial Old Havana. They were followed by bodyguards and fans. Beyonce posed for photos with schoolchildren while Jay-Z puffed on a Cuban cigar.

Not all of the Cuban-American community lambasted their trip. Arturo Lopez-Levy, a Cuban economist and analyst who lectures at the University of Denver, said the trip and subsequent fallout were "a call to take a fresh look at the U.S. policy toward Cuba with the candidness of an adolescent."

"It is difficult to defend a policy that stomps on the same rights it preaches," he wrote in a column published in The Huffington Post. "Since the migratory reforms made by Cuba in January, that eliminated most of the restrictions on travel from the totalitarian period, Cubans, under a communist regime have fewer legal impediments to visiting the U.S. than U.S. citizens have to visiting Cuba."

New Book Claims Jane Fonda's Marriage To Ted Turner 'Ate Her Alive'

In her new memoir, Jane Fonda's adopted daughter, Mary Williams, opens up about her mother's failed marriage to Ted Turner.

In The Lost Daughter, Williams discusses how Fonda and Turner each coped when their marriage ended in 2001 after 10 years.

"While Ted was his usual upbeat self, my mom was greatly diminished physically and emotionally," Williams writes in her new memoir. "She’d lost a lot of weight from her already tiny frame. Though she continued to put up a front that screamed ‘Everything’s fine!’, I could see things were not. Emotionally, she was shutting down. Her marriage was eating her alive."

In a January 2012 episode of "Oprah's Master Class," Fonda herself commented on the difficult period following her split from Turner.

"I remember when I was 62 and I had done something that was very, very, very painful and difficult," Fonda said, "I had left Ted Turner, my third husband, who I loved very, very much."

She said that leaving Turner allowed her to seek wholeness, which she hadn't felt in years: "I knew that I would die married and rich, but not whole."

In his 2008 autobiography, Call Me Ted,Turner hinted at what caused his split from Fonda.

"Jane attempted to maintain her independence," Turner writes, but "our crowded schedules took a toll on our relationship. … [The media said] I was mad at Jane for becoming a Christian... I was upset ... [but only] because she didn't discuss it with me."

Fonda adopted Williams in the 1980s, taking the 14-year-old girl from the streets of East Oakland, Calif. and into her hacienda home in Santa Monica.

Today, Williams says she remains close to Fonda and Turner, who she calls a "true father" in her new book.

It's almost time!

Penelope Cruz, 38, was seen out and about yesterday in Madrid, Spain, casually dressed in jeans, a leather jacket and wedge sneakers. The actress is seven months pregnant with her second child from husband Javier Bardem and from the looks of it, she's been keeping her famous curves in check and has barely put on any weight.

Just this weekend, legendary Spanish filmmaker Juan Jose Bigas Luna -- who shot Cruz and Bardem to fame -- died from cancer at 67 years of age. In a heartfelt statement, the Oscar-winning actress said "When I was with him I felt time stood still. He was truly special."

"I don't know where to begin," Cruz's Oscar-winning husband added, and said he owes Bigas Luna "the woman I love," and "a career that I never dreamed I could have."

Cruz's next film, Pedro Almodóvar's "I'm So Excited," is expected to hit theaters in June.

Mouseketeer Annette Funicello Dies From MS Complications

Annette Funicello, beloved for her role on "The Mickey Mouse Club" more than half a century ago, has died at age 70 after experiencing complications from multiple sclerosis, according to news reports.

People reported that Funicello was in a coma, and had been on life support before she died.

"She's on her toes dancing in heaven. No more MS," her daughter, Gina Gilardi, told Extra, as reported by People magazine. "My brothers and I were there, holding her sweet hands when she left us."

The Los Angeles Times reported that Funicello was originally diagnosed with MS in 1987. People reported that she first started experiencing symptoms of MS when she was filming "Back to the Beach." In 1992, Funicello finally announced her diagnosis to the public.

Multiple sclerosis is a condition where the body's immune system attacks the myelin sheath, which protects nerve cells of the brain and spinal cord, according to the National Institutes of Health.

More than 2.1 million people around the world have multiple sclerosis, and the condition can begin at virtually any age -- the National Multiple Sclerosis Society said that it's been seen from ages 2 to 75. However, it's usually diagnosed when a person is between ages 20 and 50. Multiple sclerosis won't necessarily make a person's life shorter, but it can affect the quality of life through its symptoms, according to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Symptoms are not the same from person to person; they can be mild in one person, and severe in another. But generally, they include fatigue, tremors, muscle stiffness, numbness or pain, depression, bladder issues, weakness, vision problems, memory problems and sensitivity to heat, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.

There is no cure for multiple sclerosis, and the only treatments available are meant to slow the progression of the disease and to manage symptoms, the Mayo Clinic reported.

Funicello's exact complications from multiple sclerosis were not reported, but common complications include epilepsy, depression, memory problems, paralysis, muscle spasms and bladder or bowel problems, according to the Mayo Clinic.

It turns out Martha Stewart is more like us than we thought.

No, we can't bake a perfect meringue. But, the lifestyle guru recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that she had a thing for our favoriteCanadian actor, too. "I was into Ryan Gosling for quite a while," she told the magazine. “I watched every one of his movies." And although we're partial to "The Notebook," Stewart said "The Ides Of March" was her favorite.

Naturally, this has us imagining Gosling making a cameo on one of her shows. After all, he did recently admit to GQ Australia that he has a passion for knitting. (We still swoon at the very thought of him crafting a scarf.)

'Teen Mom' Star Poses In Bikini After Filming Sex Tape

Farrah Abraham is on a roll. The former "Teen Mom" star posed for a photo shoot in some questionable swim attire, just hours after she reportedly made her porno debut filming a sex tape with porn star James Deen.

Photographers spotted the 21-year-old as she posed in bikinis and swimsuits for the Poolside Collection bikini line on Sunday.

The former reality star has been making headlines, as it was first reported that a sex tape featuring Abraham was being shopped around. At first it sounded as though the tape had leaked, but Deen later confirmed that he filmed the tape with her on Sunday, telling TMZ:

"Word travels fast, it isn't even edited yet. We shot it yesterday," he said, adding that their relationship is strictly limited to the porn set. " [We are] definitely not dating. Got tested together on Friday and then saw her on set. That is my only experience with the lady."

Malawi President: Madonna Made Poor Kids Dance For Her

$

Someone high up in the pecking order of Malawi is reportedly so mad at Madonna over her charity dealings that the superstar was stripped of her VIP status on a recent visit.

When the “Material Girl” finished her weeklong humanitarian trip on Saturday to the impoverished country, Madonna, her kids and her staff were diverted from the VIP section at the airport and forced to go through standard security checks with regular travelers, the Telegraph reported.

While President Joyce Banda didn’t confirm that she had revoked Madge’s privileges, Banda complained to a reporter about the singer getting VIP access on her way in and about the way she treated the kids with whom she met during her visit.

"She just came unannounced and proceeded to villages and made poor people dance for her. And immigration officials opened the VIP lounge for her just because previously she enjoyed the VIP status," Banda told a journalist covering her trip, according to the paper.

Undoubtedly, there is some beef between the Queen of Pop and the President of Malawi. However, it just isn’t so clear as to who’s at fault.

After Madonna suddenly announced in 2011 her plans to nix building an all-girls school, in favor of erecting 10 community schools, Lindiwe Chide, Malawi's Ministry of Education spokeswoman, said she was “fed up” with the way the star seemed to be using her charity work to just boost her image, Reuters reported.

The pop star’s rap took another hit in January when Malawi's Education Minister said that the schools the "Vogue" singer claimed to have built already existed before she hit the scene.

But a source close to the situation claimed that Kazembe made the damning statement only because Madonna fired Banda’s sister from serving as her nonprofit’s CEO. Banda's sister now works for the Ministry of Education.

Madonna has reportedly spent over $11 million of her own money on Malawian projects since 2006 and buildOn, the nonprofit Madonna partnered with, said in a statement that it built the schools with the superstar.

But before departing the country on her most recent jaunt, Madonna tried smoothing things with over with Banda by sending her a sweet (albeit kind of rambling) note.

On a bright yellow piece of stationery, on which her name was monogrammed, Madonna wrote the letter by hand –- complete with ample exclamation points and the sort of squiggly cursive a tween might reserve for a missive to her BFF.

madonna malawi note

It seems at first that the two have a cordial relationship, considering that Madonna addresses Malawi's first female president by her first name.

But while trying to strike a casual tone, Madonna slid into sloppy territory.

After congratulating Banda on her "new position," Madonna writes:

“What an honor and what a huge responsability.”

Despite the apparent tension between the two, the education activist concluded her note by saying that she will “continue to support the children of Malawi” and hopes to collaborate with Banda in the future.

'Carrie' Signs Off For Now

The "Carrie Diaries" finale is upon us (Monday, April 8 at 8 p.m. ET) and though adolescent Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) is the voice of the CW series, it's her best friend Walt Reynolds (Brendan Dooling) who's had fans on the edge of their seats.

While "Sex & The City" fans loved Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson) and Anthony Marentino (Mario Cantone), Walt isn't exactly "one of the girls" in the same vein. After all, "The Carrie Diaries" is set in the '80s and the high school senior's struggle with his sexuality is different than the ones teens usually see today, like Kurt Hummel on "Glee" or Emily Fields on "Pretty Little Liars."

Below, Dooling opens up about where we leave Walt in the "Carrie Diaries" finale, the possibility of seeing him in a relationship, the role he originally auditioned for on "The Carrie Diaries," and much more.

You originally auditioned for the role of Sebastian, right? How'd you feel about getting the callback for Walt?
I did indeed. [Laughs.] I was jubilent just to get a callback at all! It was really great. I like when [the casting directors] think of you for something else because then that means that there's something about you that they liked. When they had me come in the next day for Walt, I guess it was a little intimidating just because I was reading that part [for the first time] at the callback, but it worked out for the better.

Obviously, Walt's coming out story is different than others we've seen on TV especially because of the time in which "The Carrie Diaries" is set. Did you do any research about gay culture in the '80s?
Not so much online research as much as, you know, interpersonal. I have people in my life that were going through that same thing during that time and they gave me ideas as to what they were feeling, and how they were dealing with the adversity, and how quiet they kept most of their personal lives until they found there was a time when they could be more open about it.

It's unique that Walt isn't particularly effeminate nor is he super masculine. It's not too often for us to see LGBT characters who are in the middle of the spectrum on TV.
Yes. Exactly. I know the word "androgynous" is usually used for looks, but he's got that same vibe as far as personality and the way he carries himself in public. I think that's what makes it more interesting in that, as an audience member, you don't know which way he's going, especially the way it's written throughout the first season: He has a girlfriend [Maggie, played by Katie Findlay] and then he hooks up with Donna [Chloe Bridges], but he's still got questions ... I think it was done really well.

Before the show premiered, a lot of people probably thought Walt would be a very fashion-forward, flamboyant young man playing Carrie's best male friend, especially because of Stanford and Anthony from "Sex & The City."
Most definitely.

Were you concerned about Walt not being that guy?
Well, I wasn't really worried about it. In fact, I hadn't even thought about it until I had "Sex & The City" fans asking me if I was playing the young Stanford and then I realized just how much of a staple that sort of character is in Carrie's story. Until the end of this first season, Carrie doesn't have a gay best friend. So that's how I was playing it -- I was just playing a friend.

Besides the brief Rob Lowe "Interview" magazine in the pilot, the first hint we got of Walt being sexually confused was at the Halloween party when he met Bennet (Jake Robinson). But he wound up calling Bennet a f** when he tried to kiss him. What was it like filming that scene and having to use that word?
That scene is really all just about denial. That was what Walt was coming to terms with, so it's really easy to just jump towards the side of anger and point the finger and run away from your problems and that's exactly what he did. In terms of preparation, it's a matter of thinking about all the people in Walt's life who aren't going to be accepting of this thing that he's questioning, so when that gets to be overwhelming, then it comes out negatively and in the direction of Bennet.

Were you surprised to find out that Donna would be the person who Walt would confide in? They're kind of like Cher and Christian in "Clueless."
[Laughs.] Donna doesn't take a lot of crap. She wants what she wants and she knows how to get and I think that really helps Walt because she is so sure of herself and Walt is not. She's a really great balance for him in terms of having that person to confide because she will tell it like it is. And it turns out that she's actually sincere about it, which is nice.

Have you heard anything about her gay brother coming into the picture should there be a Season 2? It'd be interesting to see him as a mentor for Walt since they're from similar backgrounds.
That's an interesting point. I've never really thought about that. All I know is that he lives in L.A. so that would be kind of tough, but the writers can make anything happen.

The "Carrie Diaries" finale promo hints that Maggie finds out about Walt and she does not handle things well. That has to be pretty heartbreaking.
Yes. Even if Walt had a plan in terms of how he was going to come out, as it were, it was all for naught because things happen unexpectedly and that's what you're seeing in the preview when Maggie gets really angry. She takes it very personally. She feels like the last two years with Walt have just been a lie so she's angry and understandably so. I mean, obviously, Walt never wanted to hurt anybody, but you don't know how to handle that situation when you're so new at it.

Besides Donna's reaction and Carrie trying to get Walt to open up, we haven't really gotten many hints about what the people in Walt's life think about the gay community. Will we see more of how people in his life feel about LGBT people, besides just how they feel about him being whatever he is?
I think so. I think that's why we're crossing our fingers for Season 2 because you'll actually get a more of an in-depth look. You know, it's a midseason pick-up called "The Carrie Diaries" so it's obviously going to be very focused on Carrie. But if they give us a shot at a Season 2, then we're going to get lots of side stories and the core four, Carrie and her friends, you'll get to see more backstory. I'm certainly looking forward to that.

What do you hope for Walt in Season 2? Would you want him to have a boyfriend?
You know, I don't know. As a friend to Walt, I would just say, "Have fun! Do what you think is right," whether that's a relationship or just social mingling. [Laughs.] I'm just excited to see him go from a boy to a man because with a big transition like this, that's going to happen.

Have you had any fan responses that stand out to you?
The folks on Twitter have been so nice, such a great response ... A lot of people have told me they've had a very similar high school experiences and it really does mean so much to them that somebody is playing this part. That's really nice to hear. That's why I'm in the business.

"The Carrie Diaries" finale airs Monday, April 8 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

Eve Reveals Which Part Of Her Body She Struggles With

StyleLikeU's Round Table series has tackled a range of topics, including modern femininity, androgyny and black women and their hair.

For its most recent installment of the series the fashion website, which was founded by Elisa Goodkind and Lily Mandelbaum, gathered a notable group of women to discuss body image--a hot topic in fashion and beyond.

New York Ballet dancer Megan LeCrone, writer and editor Nicolette Mason and journalist/DJ/photographer/model Cory Kennedy were just a few of the tastemakers tapped to shed light on the subject. Rapper Eve also lent her personal perspective and stories to the discussion which covered everything from boob size (and appearance), weight management, dealing with sexual attention and more.

The Philadelphia-native explained how the women she grew up around were considered "feisty with a fat ass," and it wasn't until she started catching the attention of the fashion industry during her highly successful music career that she started to obsess about her weight and image. Squeezing into sample size (generally sizes 0 to 4) clothes from designers took a toll on the "Let Me Blow Your Mind" rapper.

In the video Eve recalls a time when she almost passed out attending an awards show. She had to go to the bathroom and "take down" her dress in order to breathe. But Eve's body image plights go beyond dress size, the 34-year-old star says her biggest issue is her booty.

"I struggle with my booty," Eve said. "And it started when I was 15."

The Grammy Award-winning rapper goes on to say that she's not looking for it to be bigger, just toned. Eve explains that she has tried everything including going to trainers, doing squats--but has never gone under the knife or used any other bottom enhancing tactics.

Good thing, or else she might end up with a booty that flips inside out or a fatal injection of fix-a-flat. But we don't think she's got anything to worry about when it comes to her rear end--or top end, for that matter. Have you seen her latest video "She Bad Bad"?

To hear more of Eve's thoughts and see all of StyleLikeU's "Round Table: Body Image" check out the video above. And make sure to flip through Eve's amazing style evolution in the slideshow below.

Nice Try, Farrah

Former "Teen Mom" star Farrah Abraham is clearly desperate for attention, as the porn star with whom she filmed an X-rated video admitted that the concept of a leaked "sex tape" was supposed to be a setup.

Yesterday, news broke that a sex tape featuring the 21-year-old mother of one, and an unidentified male partner was being shopped around, before porn star James Deen confirmed that he was her sex partner -- and it was a professional project.

Deen, who stars in his first mainstream film opposite Lindsay Lohan in "The Canyons," told TMZ that he was approached by a porn company that wishes to remain nameless to film what would be passed off as a leaked "sex tape." The 27-year-old adult film actor told the website the scheme fell apart once he and Abraham were spotted holding hands as they left the Vivid Entertainment offices together, and admitted he has a problem with lying.

"I think what happened is that [the porn company was] going to pass it off as a 'sex tape' and somebody saw us coming out of a building together and people asked me what's going on, so I was like we're making a porno!"

So much for the former reality star's attempt at denying that a tape even existed.

Abraham hasn't commented since her "sex tape" scheme fell through, but she did pose for a bikini photo shoot right after filming with Deen.

Ever since the Oscars, Charlize Theron has been repeatedly tied to host Seth MacFarlane. It was said the two were chummy at the after-party where MacFarlane, who soon thereafter broke up with girlfriend Emilia Clarke, flirted with the South African beauty.

Fast-forward a few weeks, and the two were spotted together on a "dinner date" last night where they talked about their new movie "A Million Ways to Die In The West" and nibbled on sushi. As you can see in the photo below, Theron played particularly coy when she exited the restaurant, hiding her face and walking slightly ahead of the "Family Guy" funnyman, who couldn't wipe the grin off his face.

Both of them are single, which made many perceive last night's dinner date as romantic, but sources tell E! News "[Charlize] is not his type ... They are just friends."

Dating or not? You be the judge.

Sofia Vergara went back to Colombia this past weekend to celebrate Barranquilla's Bicentennial, her hometown.

On Sunday, in the Plaza de la Paz, Barranquilla celebrated its two centuries with a spectacle of lights, videos and music. The actress got on stage along with other well known personalities and sang Colombia's national anthem amid a carnaval of streamers and a chorus of children all dressed in white.

That afternoon, the mayor honored four people from Barranquilla who have been recognized internationally: Sofia Vergara, former baseball player Edgar Rentería, designer Silvia Tcherassi and singer Shakira, who was not able to attend the event.

Schwarzenegger Pens Op-Ed On 'California's Silent Disaster'

Arnold Schwarzenegger may have left the governor’s office, but his sights are still set on one of his major political platforms: saving California from environmental catastrophe.

In an op-ed for the Los Angeles Times on Monday, Schwarzenegger pleaded with the public to heed the National Climate Assessment draft's warnings. “This isn't a distant threat,” he insisted. “Already we are seeing the effects of a warmer climate.”

The ex-governor pointed toward heat-related deaths, rising sea levels and the climate’s effect on agriculture (one of California’s pivotal industries) as environmental threats facing the Sunshine State.

A study was released just this week showing that climate change may have a drastic impact on wine-producing areas, like California’s Napa and Sonoma valleys. Researchers at UCLA also found that air pollution from traffic, a notorious problem in Los Angeles, could be linked to childhood cancer.

Schwarzenegger said the report should be “a wake-up call” for not only California, but the nation as a whole. “The knowledge in this report is crucial to understanding how to change, to adapt, to prevent and to prepare for future disasters,” wrote the former politician. “It’s our duty to pay attention.”

According to Digital Spy, Eccleston met with Steven Moffat to discuss the "Doctor Who" 50th anniversary plans, but ultimately declined to be a part of the special. "After careful thought, Chris decided not to be in the episode," Digital Spy quotes a source as saying. "He wishes the team all the best."

The official "Doctor Who" Tumblr shared the Digital Spy story on their blog.

While the "Doctor Who" 50th anniversary special won't feature Eccleston, it will feature former stars Billie Piper and David Tennant along with Jemma Redgrave, John Hurt and Joanna Page.

Happy Birthday, Hef!

Hugh Hefner's birthday is today and we can think of no better way to celebrate it than with a big bash at the famed Playboy Mansion. The Playboy scion turns 87 years young today and if a swim in the grotto with a cigar and a bevy of blondes isn't his idea of a good time, then color us confused.

The mansion has been home to his three weddings, served as the stage for the reality show "The Girls Next Door" and even welcomed Will Smith to film an episode of "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air" on its lush grounds (check out the priceless video below). Fun fact: This wasn't the first Playboy Mansion. The original -- a 70-room residence located in Chicago -- was purchased by Hef in 1959. Hefner divided his time between the two homes until he moved permanently to L.A. in 1974.

Across the street from the Playboy Mansion is the bunny house, a more modest residence where many of the playmates live. Coincidentally, the one-story home just went up for sale. Perhaps Hef is looking to start the 87th year of his life a little lighter in the real estate department?

Whatever the case, we know Playboy's Grand Poobah will celebrate his birthday in style. We only wish we could be there. Well, maybe.

Check out Hef and the gorgeous home in all its glory here:

Kim & Kris Are Both Expected To Testify At Divorce Trial

LOS ANGELES -- Kim Kardashian's upcoming divorce trial will be a family affair, but her attorneys do not expect to call her famous sisters to testify about the reality star's brief marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries.

But Kris Jenner, Kardashian's mother, and several lawyers and managers are expected to testify about the pair's relationship and prenuptial agreement, according to a witness list filed Monday in Los Angeles.

Humphries is seeking an annulment of the pair's 72-day marriage, claiming it was based on fraud. Kardashian wants a judge to enter a divorce judgment instead and has denied accusations that she married Humphries for the sake of her reality shows.

She will testify that she "did not defraud (Humphries) into marrying her," the filing by Kardashian's legal team states.

Kardashian's boyfriend, Kanye West, and her sisters Kourtney and Khloe are not listed as probable witnesses.

Kardashian and West, who has been deposed in the case, are expecting a baby in July. Humphries' lawyers attempted to serve West a deposition subpoena disguised in a Nordstrom's box last year, just one of the incidents that have contributed to acrimony between Kardashian and Humphries since she filed for divorce in October 2011.

Humphries, a power forward for the Brooklyn Nets, and Kardashian were married at a lavish, star-studded ceremony that was televised by E! Entertainment Television. The network also airs "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and several spinoff shows based on the family's activities.

Humphries' lawyers have not yet filed their witness list.

The former couple is scheduled to appear in a Los Angeles court on Friday to try to settle the case in advance of a May 6 trial date.

LOS ANGELES -- The year is 2154, and Earth belongs to the poor. The wealthiest citizens live on "Elysium," an idyllic, disease-free utopia they built in space.

On Monday, a few hundred film fans in Los Angeles, Berlin and Sao Paolo got an early look at the future home of the 1 percent as imagined by "District 9" writer-director Neill Blomkamp.

Blomkamp showed about 10 minutes of footage from the anticipated film during a special screening. Matt Damon, who stars alongside Jodie Foster, introduced the footage in Berlin and appeared at Hollywood's Arclight Theater via satellite.

In the film, Earth is a trash-filled landscape policed unforgivingly by robotic droids. Flying military tanks patrol the sky.

Damon plays a diseased Earthling trying to infiltrate Elysium to save himself, and perhaps all of humanity. A group of Earth-bound rebels outfit him for the journey with a tentacled "strength suit." They use a drill to affix a digital box to his head that allows him to transfer brain contents as effortlessly as computer files.

Foster plays an Elysium administrator determined to keep Damon out. The star of "District 9," Sharlto Copley, plays a bearded villain who works on Earth to protect the wealthy space enclave.

Speaking to reporters after the screening, Blomkamp hinted that there could be a sequel to his breakthrough debut.

"I think the world of `District 9' has a lot of very interesting race and impression-based ideas that I would still like to explore in that world," he said.

"Elysium" opens Aug. 9.

Thieves may have just rifled through her accessories closet, but Adrienne Bosh still has one great asset: her curves.

The wife of Miami Heat star Chris Bosh was spotted over the weekend hanging out in a red bikini on a beach in Puerto Rico, where she traveled for a wedding that was reportedly also attended by Eva Longoria and Khloe Kardashian.

The trip came on the tail end of a big week for the Boshes, who celebrated Chris's 29th birthday last Wednesday with a real live camel, an elaborate elephant cake, and a helicopter.

After the party, the couple got a nasty surprise when they arrived home: a burglar made off with about $340,000 in jewelry, watches, and handbags from their bedroom closet.

No surprise, then, that Adrienne took some time out for sunshine with the couple's son, Jackson. Check out her amazing bikini body above.
