'Glee' Star Enters Rehab For Substance Abuse

"Glee" star Cory Monteith has checked into rehab for substance abuse treatment, reports People magazine.

The 30-year-old actor has voluntarily admitted himself to treatment, his rep told the magazine, adding, "He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery."

Monteith, who has been dating his "Glee" co-star Lea Michele since February 2012, has discussed his battled with addiction in the past.

In June 2011, he opened up to Parade, telling the magazine that he acted out as a child, and was skipping school to get drunk and smoke pot before dropping out of school at the age of 16. “I burned a lot of bridges. I was out of control," he told Parade, adding that he had a "serious [drug] problem" at the time and was doing "anything and everything, as much as possible."

The actor revealed that it was after his mother and a group of his friends staged an intervention when he was 19, that he finally sought help.

“That’s when I first went to rehab. I did the stint but then went back to doing exactly what I left off doing," he explained. Monteith said that he likely would have continued spiraling out of control if not for what he called a "crystallizing event.” The Canadian-born actor admitted that he stole a "significant amount" of money from a family member knowing full well that he would get caught, which he called a "cry for help."

After being confronted and admitting to the theft, Monteith said he was given an ultimatum to either get clean and sober or be turned over to the police. The actor told Parade, it was only then that he made the choice to turn his life around.

Who Survived 'The Walking Dead' Finale Body Count?

0
0

All season long on "The Walking Dead," fans have been awaiting the bloody battle between Woodbury and the prison, with the Governor and Rick as their generals. Well, it was certainly bloody in this season finale, but it was anything but what people might have expected. There was very little bloodshed between the two factions, while there was plenty of lives lost within one.

After a failed raid on the prison, the Governor's men and women fled. Most were citizens of Woodbury he'd riled up into going by lying to them. He told them Rick and his group wouldn't stop until everyone in Woodbury was dead. Instead, Rick and his group seemed more intent on simply scaring them out of the prison.

The Governor forced his group to pull over and confronted them in a rage. When they refused to go back, he mowed them down. He started to shoot them in the head to prevent them rising again, but ultimately even gave up on that. His cruelty saved one woman, who'd been lying under another of his victims. She was thus alive to fill Rick in on what was going on.

At that point, Rick was looking for revenge back at Woodbury, but hearing how far off the rails the Governor had gone, he changed his mind. Only the Governor and two of his men survived the Governor's own slaughter. Luckily for Rick, it was Tyreese protecting Woodbury.

So instead of a slaughter on Woodbury, it was a rescue mission. They took a bus filled with the people who'd stayed behind -- mostly children and the elderly -- and brought them to the prison. He wanted to rescue Andrea as well, but the Governor had stabbed Milton and left him in the room with her. Andrea broke free, but not before suffering a fatal bite at the hands of Milton's zombie. While she still had control, she took her own life alongside her one-time companion, Michonne.

Wetpaint wasn't happy with the loss of Andrea, saying her death was a total disservice to the show. TV Guide was shocked as well, noting that the character of Andrea is still alive in the comic books the series is based on. "Sure, the show has taken liberties with character deaths before, but this particular death is such a departure that one must question whether this will alienate fans of the comic books," they wrote.

The Governor is still out there, and still set on killing Rick and his group of survivors at all cost. But he's lost Woodbury and most of the citizenry there. That does't mean he'll stop trying to come after them, though. He's well beyond the side of sanity at this point. The only thing that will stop him at this point is death.

'Happy Endings': Max And Penny Take Power In Their Relationships

It was a one-two punch of wackiness as "Happy Endings" settled into its new Friday timeslot. The show will air back-to-back episodes until it completes the full episode order for its second season. After that, it's fate is up in the air. Even the show's own network is asking people to save it. But the best way to do that is by watching it, and only about 3 million people did that.

They missed out on a lot of fun, though. Hollywood.com said the show is worth staying in on Fridays for. This week saw Brad discovering his true passion after saving the children's gym he was working at -- Hello, David Alan Grier! -- while Penny and Max fought to control their relationships. They realized by texting their significant others so desperately, they were giving them all the power.

The solution? Black market cough medicine that knocks them out for 14 hours at a time. Unfortunately, they got addicted to the power -- and the Nochetussin -- to the point that Penny's fiance thought something horrible had happened to her.

The second episode saw Max pretending to be gay with a new girlfriend, played by Abby Elliott, simply to take advantage of the great tickets she can get to Bulls games and other events. That all fell apart, though, when he couldn't even go through with kissing her.

So it's still about messed up people doing crazy and unpredictable things. But in that way, they're totally predictable. And now, "Happy Endings" will be packing an hour of laughs into every Friday night, starting at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

'Amazing Race': Speed Traps And Fender Benders

They may not be everybody's favorite team, but even some critics found themselves feeling bad for Max & Katie on "The Amazing Race." They were the second team to fall victim to a police speed trap -- Caroline & Jennifer were stunned they couldn't talk their way out of it! -- but their car trouble didn't stop there.

After paying the ticket at the police station, Max immediately proceeded to back into a pole that was right behind the car. He was so flustered, he refused to get out and assess the damage. He simply carried on with the leg. But while Max was frustrated, HitFix noticed that Katie was having fun, at least. They wrote, "Katie was just EVIL this episode. And not in a bad way. Just in an evil way. She mocked Max's driving, his ticket, his fender-bender and even his grammar and she loved every second of it."

Luckily for the couple, Pam & Winnie could not remember their animals and wound up switching tasks at the end of the leg. This allowed Max & Katie to sneak into sixth place, despite both a Speed Bump on the leg and all their mishaps behind the wheel. Pam & Winnie found themselves eliminated after a second place finish last week.

The competition continues on "The Amazing Race," Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

WATCH: Gay Couple Gets Engaged At Garbage Concert

It was a rock and roll fairytale come true for one Detroit gay man when Garbage's Shirley Manson halted her band's March 30 performance at the Majestic Theater so that his boyfriend could pop the question.

Amateur video footage shows Manson bringing the two men, identified on YouTube as Domenick Viviano and Scott Sauter, onstage.

"So as it happens I was on my Facebook page yesterday, I was on the tour bus and I was going through messages as we do and we can't obviously answer everyone," Manson says to Domenick. "But then I saw this message from your boyfriend Scott and he told me that you were really super amazing ... then he told me a few other things about your private life that probably I shouldn't know."

Scott then drops to one knee before the two share a passionate embrace. The couple reportedly later joked that they knew they were meant for each other because they both had Garbage CDs in their collection.

New Jeff Buckley Movie Trailer Will Surprise You

0
0

The trailer for the new Jeff Buckley film, Dan Algrant's "Greetings from Tim Buckley," has finally arrived on YouTube, showing a flannel-clad Penn Badgley belting it out on stage.

The movie, which lands at Tribeca Film Festival this month, centers on the younger Buckley's breakout 1991 performance -- a tribute show to his father and American avant-garde musician, Tim Buckley. The concert is widely viewed as the start of the younger Buckley's stint in show business, a career tragically cut short by his death at the age of 30.

So what do we think of Badgley, the former "Gossip Girl" actor, as the leading man? Well, he has received surprisingly positive reviews since clips of him singing signature Buckley tunes surfaced online last year. Spin went so far as to call the impersonator "decent" while Fuse noted, "Badgley's voice does Jeff Buckley justice, and that's no small feat." He did seem to nail "Once I was," a Tim Buckley original, in this recently released video.

We'll have to wait until the movie's April 16 release to make real judgments. But to be fair, Badgley has to fill the shoes of a man Jimmy Page once labeled as "a great, great singer," and whose album, "Grace," David Bowie declared as one of his 10 desert island picks. Watch the trailer above and let us know your thoughts on the movie in the comments. If you don't like it, you can always wait for the other Jeff Buckley film, which actually has the rights to the songwriter's music. (Scroll down for more arts news)

Jon Defends Leno?

0

During his segment on Egyptian TV host Bassem Youssef on Monday, Jon Stewart took a pointed swipe at NBC, defending Jay Leno in the process.

While the joke was an unrelated gag intended to lighten the tone of a fairly heavy segment, Stewart didn't throw it away either. He equated NBC with a failed, dictatorial empire and then noted, "A couple of bloggers just went nuts."

We assume he was referring to someone else. Watch the clip above.

Matthew Perry's Drunken Night

0

It's rare for celebrities to get starstruck, but for Matthew Perry, a chance meeting with a famed director made his night. Until it didn't.

Perry was at a bar when he ran into a man who he thought was "Sixth Sense" director M. Night Shyamalan, spending hours with the man chatting and drinking.

“A friend of mine comes up and says, ‘How you doin’?’ I said, ‘How’m I doin’? I’ve been hangin’ out with M. Night Shyamalan for the last three hours. This is the greatest night of my life," Perry told Jay Leno on Monday's episode of "The Tonight Show." "He’s gonna do a new movie, it’s gonna be a trick ending, it’s gonna be me.’"

"My friend says, ‘That’s not M. Night Shyamalan,’” Perry explained.

Unfortunately for Perry, the man he had been hanging out with was actually the maître d' of Mr. Chow's restaurant -- a mistake he attributed to a night of drinking.

The incident apparently happened after Shyamalan's success with "The Sixth Sense" in 1999. During that same time period, Perry battled substance abuse issues of his own, admitting to an addiction to painkillers in 1997 and checking into rehab in 2001.

For the rest of Perry's interview with Leno, head over to The Tonight Show.

PHOTOS: Hayden Panettiere Talks About Her Tattoo Gaffe

These days, Hayden Panettiere is getting plenty attention for both her role on "Nashville" and her rumored engagement to boxer Wladimir Klitschko. So it's no wonder she doesn't spend much time dwelling on her regrets -- specifically, that infamous misspelled tattoo.

The blonde beauty covers Glamour's May issue, looking summer-ready in a yellow Dolce & Gabbana two-piece. Inside the mag, Hayden talks about her career, the aforementioned beau ... and that pesky botched ink on her back. But don't worry, the 23-year-old doesn't harbor any bitterness:

“It’s Italian: Vivere senza rimpianti. When I was younger, I was upset, and my dad said he wanted to show me something. He slammed one door of the bathroom, and the closet door popped open—it was a trick with the air. He said, ‘Whenever one door closes, another one always opens.’ So my tattoo means ‘Live without regrets.’ It’s not that you don’t regret things in life, but you at least try to learn from them. It’s misspelled too [accidentally, as rimipianti]—so I literally have to live by that advice!”

Good advice for all of us, no? Of course, Hayden's not the only celebrity who's made a tattoo gaffe. Christina Aguilera, David Beckham, Britney Spears and Rihanna have all admitted to their body art blunders. And who could forget Johnny Depp's infamous "Wino Forever" ink?

Obviously, Ms. Panettiere is quite the trooper. Check out some shots from her Glamour shoot below and pick up the issue on April 9 for the full interview.

Big Changes Ahead For Zoe Saldana

Zoë Saldana‘s close with her longtime hairdresser, Mara Roszak, but her confession in the latest issue of InStyle Hair may be enough to give Roszak nightmares.

Hayden Panettiere Hints She'll Have Children With Wladimir Klitschko

Hayden Panettiere and heavyweight professional boxer Wladimir Klitschko are rumored to be secretly engaged, and a new interview with Glamour magazine isn't doing anything to dispel those rumors.

The 23-year-old actress reconciled with Klitschko, 37, in February after breaking things off in May 2011, and it looks like the couple are very serious about each other this time around. The "Nashville" star was seen sporting a very sparkly ring the other day, and told Glamour magazine that while she doesn't have a set plan, she was "born to be a mother."

“I’ve lived a very big life, and I don’t feel my age, and I feel like I was born to be a mother," Panettierre, who has been working since the age of 5, told the magazine. "Sometimes people speak about [having kids] like, ‘Your life ends—you’re never going to be able to do anything again!’ And I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’ Motherhood is the most beautiful, exciting thing, and there’s nothing that I feel like I can’t accomplish while having children in my life. I would sacrifice having more years of being wherever I want whenever I want for years with my kids.”

More proof that the recently reconciled couple are secretly engaged? When asked if she was currently with the man who might one day father her children, she told the magazine:

“It wouldn’t shock me!”

WATCH: Nicki Minaj & Lil Wayne's Steamy Sex Scene

0

It's not surprising that Nicki Minaj's "High School" video features Lil Wayne. After all, he recorded a verse for the song and heads up the the label they're both signed to, Young Money. What is a bit odd, however, is the fact that the duo filmed a racy sex scene for the visuals.

Wayne has always played the mentor role to Minaj, notably having her back when she was insulted by a Hot 97 DJ before she was to take the stage at the radio station's Summer Jam concert. It's curious to see them playing these roles in a music video, but it's sure to get hip-hop blogs talking.

In the clip, Wayne and Minaj make off to an island to engage in some sort of shady business and end up falling into bed. After their tryst, they steal things and sneak off in a helicopter. *Cue Beats by Dre product placement.

"High School" is off Minaj's hilariously titled "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded The Re-Up." Watch the video and let us know what you think in the comments. Another YMCBC rapper debuted a video today; head over to our article on Drake's "5AM in Toronto" video to see how he fared.

Rihanna made an unexpected stop at a Wal-Mart in Interior B.C. on her "Diamonds" World Tour.

Kamloops residents caught a glimpse of the songstress after spotting her tourbuses in the Wal-Mart parking lot, the UK's Daily Mirror reported.

Twitter user @maddyferguson snapped a photo of the pop superstar at the cashier, where she bought a soft drink and even made a donation to the McHappy Day charity, the Vancouver Sun reported.

The fan went into the Wal-Mart hoping to catch a glimpse of rapper A$AP, who is travelling with the singer, but it appears she caught the big fish instead.

Rihanna's brief visit set off a flurry of excited tweets, with one user remarking she was "jealous" that she never got to see her, while another was disappointed her parents caught the singer but she didn't, CTV reported.

Rihanna played a sold-out show at Rogers Arena on Monday night, coming on about 55 minutes late like she did for shows in Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg, The Province reported.

Brenna Weingus: Will Kellie Win It All?

0

After Dorothy Hamill's untimely departure from the show, "Dancing with the Stars" was in need of this week's feel-good prom theme. All of the stars donned their high school best for the "night to remember," but which of the memorable routines will go down in "DWTS" history? And which ones would be better left forgotten?

The Dance of the Night:

Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough: Kellie and Derek took the cake last night with their "Footloose" inspired jive. Kellie's quick movements had Bruno calling her "sharper than a Samurai sword" and Len declaring her to be the queen of the prom. Score: 25

The Standouts:

Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff: Jacoby's natural swag came in handy for his sensual rumba with Karina. "You were smoldering like a volcano!" Bruno exclaimed. Even Len, who was clearly searching for negative feedback for the NFL star, could only say he was "shocked" by the performance. Score: 24

Zendaya and Val Chmerkovskiy:After starting off the competition with a bang, expectations were high for Zendaya, but her emotional Viennese Waltz, dedicated to her grandmother, lived up to her hype. Bruno called it enchanting and Carrie Ann spoke of her enormous potential, saying "the best is yet to come." Score: 24

The Good:

Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas: Aly and Mark took on a very prom-appropriate Viennese Waltz that had all of the judges singing their praises. Len got in the spirit of April Fool's Day, telling the couple he was "unimpressed" (what a jokester!) and Bruno complimented Aly on her ability to express herself. Score: 23

Victor Ortiz and Lindsay Arnold: Victor, who was in the Bottom 2 last week, had his work cut out for him to prove his place in the competition. The lift-filled contemporary routine shocked all of the judges, with Carrie Ann and Bruno declaring him to be a true dancer and Len going as far as to say, "I was pleasantly surprised." Score: 23

Ingo Rademacher and Kym Johnson: Ingo and Kym performed a scandalous paso doble, with bad boy Ingo swooping in and capturing the prom queen from the big dance. The judges loved his attitude, but still thought his technique could use a little work. Score: 21

Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko: After landing in the Bottom 2 last week, Lisa was desperate to redeem herself. Her graceful Viennese Waltz grabbed the attention of all three judges, with Bruno calling the performance glamorous and gorgeous. Score: 21

Sean Lowe and Peta Murgatroyd: Sean and Peta, decked out as the Village People, took on the ultimate overplayed prom classic, "Y.M.C.A." Len declared the entertaining number to be Sean's best performance yet and Bruno applauded his gusto. Score: 21

The Mediocre:

Andy Dick and Sharna Burgess: Former Homecoming King Andy Dick was right at home with the prom theme, delivering a truly entertaining cha cha. After ripping his shirt off at the end of the routine, the judges all agreed on his commitment to the performance, applauding him for his effort. Score: 18

The Bad:

DL Hughley and Cheryl Burke: DL Hughley's salsa routine didn't quite redeem his poor performances in the past, with Len and Bruno both attacking him for his lack of musicality. Carrie Ann, however, noticed his effort and baby steps, telling him that improvement is what the competition is all about. Score: 16

Wynonna Judd and Tony Dovolani: Although they went all out with costumes and song choice ("Pour Some Sugar On Me"), Wynonna and Tony's stiff samba didn't captivate the judges. Len about summed the performance up, saying, "You look magnificent, but you don't move." Score: 15

"Dancing With The Stars" airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

Roger Stone: Justin Timberlake: Eyeing Fashion in 20/20

0
0

As an entertainer, Justin Timberlake has learned from the past.

He can cradle a mic stand like Elvis Presley, move like Michael Jackson and swoon like Sinatra. It has been these disparate talents that Timberlake has harnessed for stage presence. It's this showmanship and substance that Tom Ford, one of today's most influential fashion designers, has wrapped his edgy but tradition-based style around. Justin Timberlake Grammys

The evolution of Timberlake has not been without its gaffes. As a boy-band idol with mix-matched baggy attire and the frosted tipped, curly locks reminiscent of a Cabbage Patch Kid doll, Timberlake's head to toe ensemble was anything but in synch. His early fashion missteps included a full denim costume complete with rhinestones and cowboy hat and for a time his hair was twisted in cornrows.

But JT has long left the Kid Rock look behind, thank God.

"These kids grew up in a generation of baggy shorts and baggy athletic clothes, and now they want some kind of little formal touch to something," Ford told the New York Times. "They want the glamour of suits and ties." Ford has moved Timberlake forward by looking back, trading in the baggy outfits for form-fitting suits, the wild hair for immaculate grooming. The suits have the fundamentals of good fit and Las Vegas inspired styling and they are a little on the fast side. The tuxedo he wears when singing is not the kind of tuxedo you would wear to a wedding. It is appropriate for an entertainer.Justin Timberlake Tuxedo

Tom Ford gone theatrical.

With his retro turn, it's no surprise that Jon Hamm of "Mad Men", a program about sixties advertising agencies and the sartorial sophistication of the executives who worked within, is a fan of Timberlake. Hamm calls Timberlake a "fashion forward kind of guy". Like Hamm's character Don Draper, who once again popularized classic American, form fitted gray suits with crisp spread collars, Timberlake's style evokes another era.

In many ways Justin Timberlake and Tom Ford are paying homage to another time; Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin. He proves he can reinvent himself in a new, cooler and more urbane style; evocative of Old Blue Eyes himself. Only Ford could pull it off-and he has.
"To say 'Frank Sinatra' is wrong," Ford said in a Times piece. "But Justin was identifying with a sort of young, Rat Pack fantasy in some way, and that is a terrific look for him."Frank Sinatra

A new pompadour hair style evokes a early age also complementing Ford's vintage style themes along with his edgy update. The new do works for JT, as he is known to fans.
When he swung at the 2013 Grammys with the Tennessee Kids, a rocking big band with art-deco bandstands he combined the magnetism of a young Cab Calloway, strutting in front of a full orchestra and his singing brought a lovers emotion like Sinatra in his teen idol days and beyond. The electricity with Jay-Z was like unto that between Sinatra and Bing Crosby, who recorded together several times, when they were the dominant male vocalists in America, beginning in the 1940's's until Elvis challenged their reign in the early sixties.

The difference in a style icon from yesterday and today is time. Fame is more fleeting because the number of outlets diffusing information and images has been amplified. From 1944, when young female admirers rioted in the streets outside the paramount to his "Ol' Blue Eyes Is Back" album thirty years later, Sinatra endured several career low points but endured as a super -star. He was the bad-boy of time, chasing girls punching reporters, hanging with hoodlums. But Frank was always dressed to the nines. He made the straw hat, meant to hide his re-ceding hairline, become a fashion statement.

Justin Timberlake The style is not always perfect. Sometimes when Timberlake wears an impeccably cut suit and tie, his dress shirt is patterned but too dark and gangsterish. Lighter shirts, Tom! - otherwise the whole outfit comes off as a bit too loud, too Las Vegas flashy.

For the most part, though, the Timberlake experiment is working. In its first week of release, Timberlake's new album "The 20/20 Experience" has sold nearly a million copies. And JT is everywhere including featured on a CNN special.

Timberlake is now not only a virtuoso performer but a style icon. Like Madonna, who has and well deserves style Icon status herself, JT understands how the reinvent himself. I like the new, cool, swinging Justin Timberlake.

Nemo Gets A Sequel With 'Finding Dory'

Dory is swimming her way back to the box office.

Disney and Pixar announced Tuesday that "Finding Nemo" is getting a sequel with the upcoming release of "Finding Dory."

“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said Ellen DeGeneres, who voices Dory, in a statement. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”

"Finding Dory" is reportedly set on the California coastline, one year after "Finding Nemo." The animated flick will include many of the characters from the first film, such as Marlin, the Tank Gang, and of course, Nemo.

The sequel was first reported by Deadline.com in July of 2012. Andrew Stanton will direct "Finding Dory," with Albert Brooks, who voiced Marlin in the first film, returning as well.

"Finding Nemo" was a major success for Disney and Pixar. Released in 2003, "Finding Nemo" reached a total worldwide gross of $921.7 million, and took home the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

"Finding Dory" will hit theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.

Why Mads Mikkelsen Almost Turned Down 'Hannibal'

0
0

NEW YORK — It's fair to say that Mads Mikkelsen dines out on his new starring role.

He plays the title character in NBC's new grisly gourmet drama, "Hannibal," which focuses on Dr. Hannibal Lecter – scholar, connoisseur, cannibal – during an earlier, more nuanced time than was covered in the hit film "The Silence of the Lambs" and its sequel.

No surprise: When Mikkelsen was offered the role, he hesitated to bite.

"It's been done to perfection," he says, citing the indelible performance of Anthony Hopkins. "What could we add?"

Turns out, quite a lot.

Unlike Hopkins' Hannibal, Mikkelsen's version isn't "a madman in a (jail) cell. He's out in the world, where he can make friends and help people feel comfortable." In short, he's fully able to pass in polite society, as he must – especially if the series (which premieres Thursday at 10 p.m. EDT) hopes to last.

"He's not a classic psychopath or a classic serial killer," adds Mikkelsen. "I believe that he's as close to Satan as can be – the fallen angel. He sees the beauty in death. And every day is a new day, full of opportunities."

Dr. Lecter is just one member of the series' motley trio. This brilliant psychiatrist is recruited to counsel a gifted but tormented criminal profiler, Will Graham (played by Hugh Dancy), who can see into the minds of serial killers and is haunted by what he sees. Special Agent Jack Crawford (played by Laurence Fishburne) is head of the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit, and he's counting on Lecter to keep Will on course.

Together they unite (or appear to) on a mission to track down ghastly serial killers – with neither Jack nor Will dreaming that the most depraved offender is part of their team.

This knotty alliance is what captured Mikkelsen's interest. When he first met with series creator Bryan Fuller ("Pushing Daisies"), he heard much talk "about this whole bro-mance thing between Hannibal and Will, and it sounded really cool," he says. "The relationship between all these characters is what's actually fundamental to the story, not the individual cases."

There are scenes of startling grisliness. There are also scenes of gruesome humor, as when Lecter – a gourmet cook – serves elegant dinners to appreciative guests (including Will and Jack) whose key ingredients are human body parts, prepared with such culinary camouflage they look mouthwatering even to the well-aware audience.

But some of the most gripping scenes are simple conversations between Hannibal and Will – his associate, patient and odd-couple chum.

In one scene, he tries to console Will, who is traumatized after shooting a suspect.

"I LIKED killing Hobbs," Will confesses with self-loathing.

"Killing must feel good to God, too. He does it all the time," says Lecter gently. "And are we not created in his image?"

Mikkelsen has come up with a robust back story for Hannibal: born in Lithuania. Educated in Paris and England. Refined and intellectual and even a bit of a snob, but a good host and excellent company.

"He's a man who loves talking, who loves words," says Mikkelsen. "Every tenth word I had, my dialogue coach had to look it up: He had no idea what it was, either."

Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, 47 years ago, Mikkelsen (whose first name is pronounced "mass," not "mads") is a matinee idol in his native land, where he has starred in acclaimed films such as "Valhalla Rising," in which he played a half-blind Viking gladiator, and "The Hunt," which won him the best actor prize at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival for his role as a teacher falsely accused of a sex crime.

Though not a household name in the U.S. – yet – his face is increasingly familiar from his role as the sadistic villain Le Chiffre in the 2006 James Bond film, "Casino Royale," and performances alongside Clive Owen in "King Arthur" and Liam Neeson in "Clash of the Titans."

It was through a circuitous path that he found his way to acting.

From childhood he was a serious gymnast and then, as a young man, joined a contemporary dance troupe.

"But I was interested in the drama of the dance more than the technique," he says. "I felt that if that was what I was loving, why don't I do that full-on?"

Meanwhile, he was vexed by what he saw as actors' hollow conventions: "We do this because that's how they have always done it, but it doesn't have anything to do with life. It becomes a convention they only BELIEVE is reality."

An inspiring alternative for him was the film "Taxi Driver," which he saw as an antidote to stiffness and artifice in drama.

"It made me want to be true to what I believed was right," he says.

One thing he clearly believes in: not putting on airs. Striking a contrast to the three-piece-suit polish of Hannibal, Mikkelsen has arrived for his interview bundled up and in transit. He had wrapped the first season of "Hannibal" in Toronto only hours earlier, and in a few more hours would be taking off from New York. He looks the part: Toting a duffel bag, he's dressed in jeans, running shoes, peacoat and knit cap. He looks like he might be shipping out on the next freighter.

Sleep-deprived, he sips a can of soda for a burst of caffeine and continues making his case for authenticity.

He points to a dining scene where Hannibal tells Jack, "Next time, bring your wife. I'd love to have you BOTH for dinner."

Viewers all too familiar with Hannibal's dietary fetish may be tickled by that line and its secondary meaning. But Mikkelsen delivers it as if nothing more than a gracious invitation.

"I can never wink at the audience," he says, noting that Jack and Will aren't dummies: "Will is the best profiler in the world." So his performance must always accommodate their brilliance. "I can't be having fun with a line like this, without them seeing it!

"If you're doing it for the audience," Mikkelsen sums up, "you're killing the reality."

That's one thing even a killer like Hannibal Lecter won't do.

WATCH: Jane Fonda's 'Unforgivable' Mistake

Jane Fonda was always an outspoken opponent of the Vietnam War. In 1972, the Academy Award-winning actress and activist traveled to North Vietnam and was photographed laughing and clapping along with Vietnamese soldiers. What followed was a long-lasting wave of criticism and international outrage that earned Fonda the nickname "Hanoi Jane."

That Vietnam photograph has followed Fonda ever since -- and she has apologized for it publicly and privately many times over. In this clip from an episode of "Oprah's Master Class," she does so once again, calling her appearance in the photo "an unforgivable mistake" and sharing the details of how the photograph happened in the first place.

In the clip, Fonda explains that she was taken to a North Vietnam military site on the last day of her visit, even though she did not want to go. "I was an emotional wreck by [then]," she remembers. "I don't know if I was set up or not. I was an adult. I take full responsibility for my actions."

That's when a small ceremony began. "These soldiers sang a song; I sang a song in feeble Vietnamese," she says. "Everyone was laughing. I was led to a gun site and I sat down. I was laughing and clapping, and there were pictures taken."

As Fonda walked away from the site, she suddenly realized how those pictures would look to the rest of the world. "I understand the anger about that," she admits.

Years later, Fonda arranged to meet privately with a group of Vietnam veterans. Some of the veterans had attended the meeting eager to confront the woman they considered a traitor, and to fully express their hostility. Fonda remembers one man in particular. "[He had been with] the Delta death squad and he had an ace of spades," she says. "That was the card that would be thrown when he was going to kill someone, and he brought it with him [to the meeting]. He was intending to challenge me and throw it at my feet."

In the clip, Fonda reveals what happened during the meeting -- including how the man ended up tearing up his ace of spades and throwing it in the trash. "I don't mean that every single man there suddenly was 'fond of Fonda,'" she says. "But there was a lot of healing."

The moving experience taught Fonda a life lesson that extends beyond the Vietnam controversy. "We have to listen to each other, even when we don't agree, even when we think we hate each other," she says. "I learned so much from that meeting. It was a very difficult thing to do and it was one of the best things that I ever did in my life. Look what scares you in the face and try to understand it. Empathy, I have learned, is revolutionary."

Jenny McCarthy's Most Embarrassing Sex Story

It's no secret that Jenny McCarthy is willing to talk about anything involving her eventful sex life.

So when HuffPost Celebrity caught up with the 40-year-old blond bombshell as she hosted the Hotel Durex event at Dream Downtown in NYC on April 2, we wanted to delve a little deeper into her personal secrets. Lucky for us, some of her friends, including Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Joanna Krupa and Kelly Monaco, were eager to dish on their sex lives as well.

Plus, who doesn't like to play a little game of "Shoot, Shag or Marry"?

What's your most embarrassing sex story?

Jenny McCarthy: I was in college and I just broke up with my high school sweetheart of, like, seven years, so I hadn’t been with anyone except him. So, I met this boy in college and we saw each other a few times and then we went back to his place and did it. And right afterwards he said to me, "Are you hungry?" And I said "Yeah!" and he‘s, like, "McDonald’s is right across the street, what do you want?" And I’m like, "I want a Big Mac, extra sauce, no pickles!" And he’s like "OK" and he got up and left ... and never came back. And I was in his apartment!

And I wait, like hungry ... for four hours and I look out the window and I’m like, "McDonalds is closed!" and I realized, Oh my God, he left me. So I had to do the walk of shame back to my college apartment. That was, like, the worst experience.

Kelly Monaco: See, Jenny’s got many embarrassing stories she’s willing to share with anybody! But me … shoot. I don’t know if anything’s really been that embarrassing. I haven’t had many partners. I’m still an under five [partners] girl, so I can recall just about everything that’s happened and I’m not really embarrassed about any of it. I guess maybe thinking back on my ‘90s bush, you know, that’s kind of embarrassing! And I was in Playboy, so I have like that big bush everywhere and I thought that was hot then, but times change. I was current then!

Joanna Krupa: It wasn't embarrassing for me, but I'm a very sexual person and I was dating this guy that wasn’t very spontaneous. So, we were on vacation and I took him to the lifeguard booth and basically had sex there and on the beach and everywhere else you can think … but I know he wasn’t feeling comfortable. I guess I was a little bit embarrassed because the next day I was like, ‘Did I really do that?’ Because usually it’s the guy who wants to do it, so I was like, ‘Wait, what’s wrong here? Am I like the guy in the relationship?' So I was a little embarrassed, but we were dating for a while, so I guess he didn’t take it the wrong way.

Where's the strangest place you've had sex?

Kelly Killoren Bensimon: I don’t know the strangest place I’ve ever had sex … I don’t have sex in strange places, I don’t know! I’m pretty conservative.

Jenny McCarthy: I wish it was more exciting, but it’s the Grand Canyon. I certainly did it, so I can say I did it in the Grand Canyon, because otherwise it’s the back seat of a car and that’s not exciting. But the bottom of the Grand Canyon is not fun. There’s like scorpions and stones and dirt and it’s hot. It was like the strangest and worst sex of my life.

Kelly Monaco: Strangest place? I like to have sex anywhere, so I don’t know, is it strange? I would definitely f**k at the Grand Canyon if I had the opportunity. Next time I’ll make sure of it … I’ve never been, maybe that could be fun.

Joanna Krupa: The strangest place would be in a nightclub -- their control room. And I remember somebody coming in and trying to fix the lights because I guess we were messing with the lights at the club. It was actually in New York City way back in the day. But yeah, that would probably be the craziest place I’ve ever had sex.

What's your biggest turn off?

Jenny McCarthy: Narcissism.

Kelly Killoren Bensimon: One of my biggest turn-offs is people who are aggressive sexually. I mean, sex is such an intimate moment and it’s exciting, but when people are aggressive, I don’t like that. I don’t like the assumption of when people are like, "Hey I just met you let’s have sex." Just because you meet me does not mean you’re having sex with me.

Kelly Monaco: Teeth, like when you don’t take care of your mouth.

Joanna Krupa: Depending on who it is, but I can’t stand men who brag about themselves and all they do all day is talk about themselves. And obviously if a man has bad breath. If you’re trying to get all sexy and get in the mood, that's terrible.

When do you feel sexiest?

Jenny McCarthy: With the lights off.

Kelly Killoren Bensimon: I feel sexy when I’m with someone I really care about. I mean, I can be in sweatpants, but when I really care about them, I feel hot.

Kelly Monaco: When I’m naked in bed. Just naked.

Joanna Krupa: I feel the sexiest when my fiancé tells me -- when I wake up in the morning and my hair is a mess and I'm in sweats -- "You look so beautiful." So I feel the sexiest when I’m not trying hard. I've been in the business and in the men’s magazines for years and I’ve done so many covers worldwide, so people think automatically I wake up and I get in my lingerie or something super-sexy and I feel sexy and that’s not the case.

And let's play a game of "Shoot, Shag or Marry" with Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway and Lindsay Lohan. Where would you place them?

Kelly Killoren Bensimon: Jennifer Lawrence is so hot, gorgeous. I have like a total girl crush on her. Shooting, I’m not really into shooting, but Jennifer Lawrence is hot. Probably wouldn’t marry her because she’s prettier than me and there’d be all this animosity.

Kelly Monaco: I would shoot Anne Hathaway … no, I’ll shoot Lindsay, I’ll shag f**kin’ Anne Hathaway and I’ll marry Jennifer Lawrence.

Joanna Krupa: Jennifer Lawrence definitely shag, Lindsay Lohan shoot and Anne Hathaway marry? She seems like a very normal girl next door. And Jennifer Lawrence is sexy, so I’m sure she’s a little troublemaker. And I probably wouldn’t want to marry her because I’m sure she’s not ready anyway.
