ATLANTA — An arrest warrant has been issued for Gucci Mane after a fan accused the rapper of hitting him in the head with a champagne bottle at a downtown Atlanta nightclub.

Authorities say 32-year-old James Lettley, of Fort Hood, Texas, tried making conversation with the rapper – whose real name is Radric Davis – in the VIP section of Harlem Nights Ultra Lounge on March 16.

Police department spokesman Sgt. Greg Lyon says the rapper is accused of hitting Lettley in the head, causing a gash on the man's head. Police say Lettley was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Lyon says a warrant has been issued for aggravated assault. Calls to numbers listed for Lettley and Davis were not returned. It's unclear if the rapper has an attorney.

NBC's long-awaited Monica (Courteney Cox) and Chandler (Matthew Perry) reunion will finally air this coming Tuesday (Mar. 26 at 10 p.m. ET).

So what can viewers expect from Cox's "Go On" appearance? A whole lot of grief.

In the clip above, Cox appears as a widow who is set up on a blind date with Perry's Ryan. When their server tells them happy hour has ended, Cox's character bursts into tears and says, "The other hours of my life aren't happy, why should this be any different?" And with that, she gets a free round of drinks and buffalo wings.

Both "Friends" alums have expressed their excitement over reuniting on the small screen again.

"Courteney Cox shooting Go On today..! She is fantastic, obviously. And my desire to show off in front of her is back in full swing!" Perry tweeted when the duo shot their episode back in February, while Cox tweeted "my first box husband," along with a photo of them together.

"Go On" airs on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.

Ellen Makes A Splash Down Under

SYDNEY — Ellen DeGeneres was applauded by a rapturous Aussie audience like a cherished part of the family as she introduced her Australian-born wife, Portia de Rossi, on a Sydney Harbour-side stage on Saturday to begin pre-recording Down Under segments for her popular U.S. TV show.

The Emmy Award-winning talk-show host arrived in Sydney with her mom, Betty DeGeneres, and de Rossi on Friday after a 14-hour flight from Los Angeles for a six-day filming trip to Australia.

"I'm moving here, it's so beautiful," DeGeneres told 3,000 admirers, who were clearly delighted to be in the sun-bathed Royal Botanic Gardens near the Sydney Opera House for the two-hour recording despite the 30-degree Celsius (86-degree Fahrenheit) early afternoon heat.

Guests included Oscar-winning actor and Sydney local Russell Crowe. He presented the 55-year-old host with two kangaroo-hide cattle whips that he said DeGeneres might need to catch "some brumbies" – an Australian term for wild horses – when she visits Australia's southeast. The pair took turns at whip cracking.

Asked by one emotional fan whether she and her wife would adopt her, DeGeneres replied, tongue-in-cheek: "We were just saying we should adopt someone. It's so easy for us."

The show was packed with games involving audience members, including an Australia-themed trivia event in which fans had to take a harbor plunge for a wrong answer.

"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" is in its 10th season. DeGeneres was honored with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor last year.

Lindsay Lohan Won't Be Tamed

Lindsay Lohan won't be tamed, y'all. TMZ reports that the 26-year-old actress was spotted hitting up the bar for vodka sodas at her Beverly Hills hotel on Monday -- the same day she was sentenced to 90 days in locked-down rehab. (For those who are keeping track, that will make it her sixth rehab stint).

The website also claims that Lohan continued the party parade Friday night in San Diego at the club FLUXX, this time dressed in relative incognito gear of a Yankees baseball cap and sweatshirt.

These aren't the only reports to have emerged about Lohan's brazen activities since managing to avoid jail time for a misdemeanor car-crash case. Earlier this week, the New York Post reported that the "Liz & Dick" star was filming a guest appearance on pal Charlie Sheen's "Anger Management" show in Los Angeles and even planning a short trip to Brazil on Wednesday, where she'll be promoting a clothing line for a reported six-figure paycheck.

Lohan is set to start rehab on May 2nd.

'I Can't Even Consider It'

With "Star Wars Episode VII" set to release in 2015, JJ Abrams better get started.

"There are infinitely more questions than answers right now," Abrams said in an interview with Empire about what's ahead for the "Star Wars" sequel.

The director spoke about his approach to the upcoming "Star Wars" film, comparing it to his recent work with the "Star Trek" franchise. “I feel like I can identify a hunger for what I would want to see again and that is an incredibly exciting place to begin a project,” he added.

While the role he nabbed directing the new "Star Wars" was a coveted one, Abrams wasn't initially sold. “My knee-jerk reaction was that I’m in the middle of working on the 'Star Trek' movie and I can’t even consider it," he said. "But then time went by and I got further along working on the movie and getting to a place where I had done most of the heavy lifting."

Before the announcement was made that Abrams was tapped to direct, Steven Spielberg was one of the early favorites for the film. A friend of "Star Wars" creator George Lucas, Spielberg shot down the rumors, saying "It's not my genre. It's my best friend George's genre."

So how does Spielberg feel about Abrams taking on the films?

“I will say that Steven was very encouraging of 'Star Wars,'" Abrams said. "It’s funny because I talked to him about it and it turned out he knew all about what was going on.”

Brian Williams Clashes With Ari Emanuel

Ari Emanuel was reportedly so dissatisfied with an interview he and his brothers sat for with Brian Williams that he sent NBC a "fiery legal letter," the New York Post reported on Saturday.

The Emanuel brothers sat for an interview for "Rock Center with Brian Williams." They appeared on the program to talk about bioethicist Ezekiel's new book, "Brothers Emanuel: A Memoir of an American Family.” Williams allegedly approached the interview with a far more serious tone, and the discussions became so contentious that Ari reportedly complained by letter and in person to NBC Universal chief Steve Burke. A source at NBC News told The Huffington Post that the claim that Ari confronted Burke about the interview is "completely inaccurate."

The spirited interview, which aired on Friday, seems far from contentious. Williams mentioned that Ari did not enjoy when the "Nightly News" anchor pressed him on his "scorched-earth reputation in Hollywood," but highlighted how it brought about a moment of self-reflection.

Williams' primetime newsmagazine has been moved three times since debuting in November 2011: from Monday to Wednesday, to Thursday, to Friday. Last month, news broke that Williams was reportedly angry with NBC over the many time changes.

Earlier this week, Ted Koppel, who reports for "Rock Center," argued that the network needed to support Williams and the newsmagazine more. "Just when you think somebody might figure out when it's on and want to see it the next week, they move it to another place," he said. "That's not helpful, and I think Brian deserves more support than that."

With months until the release of "Iron Man 3," Marvel has released a new trailer to tide fans over.

Debuted during the Kids' Choice Awards, the preview shows "Iron Man" star Robert Downey, Jr. in full force, declaring, "You know it's moments like these, when I realize what a superhero I am." The trailer (shown above) also features appearances by Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts and Don Cheadle as James Rhodes.

Disney explains "Iron Man 3" as a film that "pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?"

Disney has taken to promoting "Iron Man 3" in high-profile spots, as an early teaser premiered during the Super Bowl in February.

"Iron Man 3" hits theaters on May 3.

James Franco's Grandma On 'Spring Breakers'

"Spring Breakers" is quite the polarizing film. The movie has been called "unforgettable,""a druggy, violent, hypersexualized tale," "twisted," and "the most debauched movie of the year."

But one person who wants audiences to see it? James Franco's grandmother.

In a new video (shown above), posted to the movie's Facebook page, Franco's grandma is shown talking about the film, juxtaposed with footage from "Spring Breakers."

"See 'Spring Breakers,'" Franco's grandmother says in the clip. "Lots of parties, lots of drinking, lots of girls, and my grandson!"

This isn't the first time that Franco's grandma has encouraged audiences to see her grandson's films. In 2010, she famously spoke out against those that were too afraid to see Franco's film "127 Hours," saying "I think they're a bunch of p-----s."

"Spring Breakers" hit theaters on Mar. 22.

LOOK: Jennifer Lopez's Sexy 'Nude' Ensemble

We’ve seen Jennifer Lopez bare plenty of skin in the past, but this nude-coloured look leaves just enough to the imagination.

The 43-year-old was drop-dead glamorous in her Maria Lucia Hohan dress when she hit Muhammad Ali's Celebrity Fight Night XIX with boyfriend Casper Smart in Phoenix Saturday. The only thing we’re not so crazy about? The lacy black halter. Call us crazy, but it looks a little too much like she's flashing her bra – and we’ve seen enough of that from J.Lo already.

While Lopez’s makeup made her look positively glowing, we wonder if she overdid it on the body shimmer. As if the natural beauty needed it in the first place.

What do you think of her look?

Jennifer Knapp: Acknowledging Faith Voices Crucial for LGBT Civil Rights

$
0
0

It didn't take long for Michelle Shocked's 'misunderstood' anti-gay rant to make the headlines last week. Her choice of language was repugnant. (A few days later, she apologized.) Although she has received more press in recent days than she has had in the last decade, for now, she only has cancelled concerts to show for it. But this isn't a blog about her. It's about the missing voice of affirmative LGBT faith leaders in the media.

Many will see the Shocked incident as a typical Christian anti-gay 'whack-a-mole,' individual and unconnected to the start of Supreme Court oral arguments on Proposition 8 and DOMA. But those on the front lines of LGBT civil rights recognize Shocked as parrot of the pulpit. After Lifeway Christian Resources (a Southern Baptist organization) revealed that 64 percent of Americans think legal gay marriage is inevitable, you can expect to hear a steady stream of prophetic filibustering this spring. Between now and June, those who still go to church will hear many sermons on the Armageddon inducing powers of homosexuality. The most putrid and sensational will, no doubt, escape from confines of their own dwindling congregations, spout its hatred across our public airwaves and further cement the notion that Christians are anti-gay.

Why not? It's all we ever hear. Three out of every four anti-gay sentiments reported in our public media come from religious sources (40 percent of negative rhetoric specifically from evangelical circles). We often confuse those who speak from lofty perches as having earned the authority to speak for the many, when if fact, they were probably just the first to grab the microphone. An argument could be made that religion-fueled bigotry retains its foothold in LGBT civil rights opposition because it continues to be given the bullhorn. We keep boo-ing the speaker hoping he'll be quiet, but we're still filling the room. Walk away and what's it matter? There comes a time when the onus becomes ours to change the programming. If we change the channel the ratings will fall and the show will be canceled -- end of story.

But it is a mistake to steal the microphone from every person of faith.

Author and minister, Rob Bell has sold more books than Michelle Shocked could ever dream of matching in record sales. He is one of the most audible voices of modern Christianity, actively influencing an entire generation of Evangelicals. Recently, Bell publicly expressed his support for gay marriage with emboldened clarity yet, outside of faith-based circles, few noticed. He is one in a handful of articulate, compassionate, and influential religious voices willing to be responsible for moving a generation toward LGBT affirmation. Notable believers like Brian McLaren are crucial in helping Christians understand that the language used by their forefathers is one of an inherited and broken theology that must evolve. It's important to find positive role models who admit to climbing out of the primordial goo and are willing to build a bridge to safety.

If Michelle Shocked is worthy of a mention at all, it is that she is a Follower being baptized in the rising waters of change. For those who claim a faith tradition, the neutral ground is rapidly disappearing. Silence, apathy and indecision were once an oasis in a rising tide of discrimination. Staying silent meant avoiding controversy -- but now we recognize that silence is too easily confused with consent for injustice. For those victims of the current, it is our challenge to give them a recognizable voice that can guide them to safety.

Well, This Pretty Much Proves It

Rumors have been swirling for months now that "Spring Breakers" co-stars James Franco and Ashley Benson are dating, but neither of them has yet to confirm their relationship. Well, until now.

They may not have released statements, but Franco and Benson's new lip-sync video to Selena Gomez's "Love You Like A Love Song" pretty much proves they're together ... or at least hooking up?

The pair released the video on Franco's Who Say account today, with the actor saying, "Yo, here’s a song from one of my favorite young singers, my co-star, young Selena Gomez. Remix!”

Benson, 23, lip-syncs the song, while Franco, 34 -- dressed in drag at one point -- guest stars in the background. Oddly enough, Benson channels Gomez in a dark wig as Franco disguises himself as what looks to be Justin Bieber.

In January, the duo shared a parody video of Gomez's ex-beau's hit single "Boyfriend," but took it down after they discovered the Biebs wasn't a fan of it.

"People thought that I was being mean, but I was just doing what the girl did in the video. It wasn't a jab at her," Benson explains in the April issue of Seventeen. "But I heard from Justin. He wasn't happy. Justin is like my little brother since he and my ex are so close. Anytime you go through a breakup, the friends get defensive. But all is well in that area now."

All looks to be well in the Franco romance department, as well.

Check out the video above.
