Beyonce's Publicist Trying To Remove Photos From Internet

Beyonce arguably gave her fiercest performance during the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday and there are many photos to prove it.

After BuzzFeed published a story that included photos and gifs titled, "The 33 Fiercest Moments From Beyoncé's Halftime Show," they received a call and subsequent email from Bey's publicist who asked them to remove the photos she deemed "unflattering."

Here are two examples of the images Beyonce's publicist referred to as unflattering (click over to BuzzFeed to see the rest).

We'd like to point out that there's no such thing as an "unflattering" picture of Beyonce. In fact, we went searching to find some, and were at a loss.

She doesn't look unflattering when she makes this face:

Or, when her hair flys in front of her face:

LOOK: Jen Tries On Blonde For Size

In her "Friends" heyday, Jennifer Aniston's hair was all the rage. Women worldwide wanted Rachel Green's haircut, hair color and hairstyle. That little detail cemented Aniston's spot in the pantheon of A-listers, some say even more so than her acting.

So imagine our surprise to see Jen, 43, on the set of her new film, the "Untitled Elmore Leonard Project," in Greenwich, CT.

The famed actress opted for a much lighter shade of blond, though the jury is still out on how it complements her complexion.

As seen above, Jen's usually warmer honey-hued hair is covered by a bright blond wig (can this possibly be inspired by her hair crush, Gisele Bundchen?) Aniston herself is covered up in multiple layers because of the freezing temperatures in Connecticut.

According to the Daily Mail, Jen's role is that of a kidnapped housewife whose husband refuses to pay ransom for her. It is a 1970s comedy-crime drama and a prequel to the film "Jackie Brown."

When she's not filming, Aniston is prepping for the next big role in her life: Justin Theroux's wife. The two actors have reportedly enrolled in "marriage bootcamp" together to rid of all potentially harmful problems before they tie the knot.

Josh Duhamel Weighs In On Fergie's Pregnancy Rumors

Reports are swirling that Fergie and Josh Duhamel are expecting their first child together.

But by the look on Duhamel's face at the premiere of his new flick "Safe Haven" last night (Feb. 5), the actor isn't spilling any baby news. Duhamel shot down E! News reporter Jason Kennedy as he asked why "everybody is so obsessed" with him and Fergie having a baby right now.

"I'll let you be ... oh, should I save you from this?" Duhamel's "Safe Haven" co-star Julianne Hough offered before her leading man answered the personal question all by his lonesome.

"I don't know," he said, bluntly.

"No new news?" Kennedy asked.

"No," Duhamel added, with a smirk.

But as the studly star was walking away, Kennedy threw in, "You said it will be your greatest career achievement, so we're waiting..."

"Greatest life achievement," Duhamel, 40, noted. Hmmm...

Fergie, 37, was also in attendance at the Los Angeles premiere, supporting her hubby, but walking the red carpet solo. The singer wore a little black Gucci dress, which coincidentally skimmed over any sort of baby bump.

The couple, who tied the knot in Jan. 2009 after dating for four years, have never been shy about their desire to start a family, with Fergie recently telling Rachael Ray in September, "We do hope for children and that will be coming up, but it's not yet."

Do you see a baby bump?

You Can't Un-See This

"Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" seems to be on a "people making out with themselves" kick this week. On Monday, Russell Brand locked lips with Fallon as a Brand doppelganger, and on Tuesday's episode, Justin Bieber stopped by to French a mannequin head that looked suspiciously like Justin Bieber during a game of 3-Point Shootout (in which they try to get Tim Horton coffee into a basket. Don't ask).

And to think, that the mannequin head probably isn't even a Belieber.

Man Behind 'Hook,' 'Pretty Woman' Dies At 77

LOS ANGELES — The set decorator who earned Oscar nominations for his work on "Beaches," "Glory," "Hook" and "Bram Stoker's Dracula" has died.

A longtime friend of Garrett Lewis says he died Jan. 29 of natural causes. He was 77.

Wendy Weaver says Lewis worked as an actor on Broadway and in films and television before becoming a set decorator in the late 1970s. He appeared in "Hello, Dolly" on stage, "Funny Lady" on film and "The Julie Andrews Hour" on TV.

He became a set decorator after designing private homes for his celebrity friends and went on to work on 39 films, including "Pretty Woman," "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "Steel Magnolias."

Lewis is survived by his sister, Jane Peiker, and five nieces and nephews.

'Avengers' Assembling At Oscars

"The Avengers" cast will assemble at the Oscars.

Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo will present at the 85th annual Academy Awards on Feb. 24, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced on Wednesday.

"We are happy to re-unite the 'Avengers' cast to present on our show," producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a statement. "Audiences who enjoyed the year's biggest box office hit will be excited to see these terrific actors back together again."

Co-stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Cobie Smulders are not scheduled to appear. Neither is Scarlett Johansson, but it should be noted that she is part of the 2013 Academy Awards in one regard this year: Johansson provided vocals on the Oscar-nominated song "Before My Time" from the documentary "Chasing Ice." It's unclear if Johansson will perform the song at the Academy Awards.

"Marvel's The Avengers" was the biggest hit of 2012. The film grossed over $1.5 billion around the globe, including $623 million in North America. That total was good for third biggest in history, behind only "Avatar" and "Titanic."

"The Avengers" was nominated for one Academy Award, in the Best Visual Effects category.

The Enduring Queer Appeal Of 'Cabaret'

0
0

At the time of its 1972 release, “Cabaret” shattered the saccharine reputation of the movie musical with its edgy take on anti-Semitism, Nazism, abortion and even repressed homosexuality.

But as daring as the material was, actor Michael York says he wasn’t concerned about tackling the role of Brian Roberts, a reserved English academic with a secret fondness for men.

At a press event before a star-studded reunion screening at New York’s Ziegfeld Theater (where “Cabaret” had its original premiere), York recalled, “People did say to me afterward, 'Didn’t you think twice about what [playing a bisexual man] would do to your career?'”

Pointing to the fact that both the stage and film versions of “Cabaret” used gay author Christopher Isherwood’s 1945 book Goodbye To Berlin as their original source material, York added, “The whole reason, of course, that Isherwood was in Berlin was for the sex, which was pretty available … our job [as actors] is interpret life in every aspect, so no, it didn’t occur to me, frankly.”

To commemorate the 41st anniversary of “Cabaret,” a lovingly restored version of the movie -- which nabbed Liza Minnelli an Oscar for Best Actress in 1973, and seven other Academy Awards, including Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Joel Grey and Best Director for Bob Fosse –- has just been released by Warner Bros in a Blu-ray edition. It is packed with some stunning features that will surprise even the most ardent fans.

Of course, the depiction of sexuality in “Cabaret” is just one of the now-iconic movie’s more daring aspects. Set in Weimar era Germany, the film centers on the relationship between Berlin cabaret singer Sally Bowles (Minnelli) and Roberts. As Bowles and Roberts endure their personal highs and lows -- which include an unplanned pregnancy in addition to the aforementioned bisexual escapades (a point apparently enhanced in the script after Minnelli's suggestion) -- the political threat in 1930s Berlin looms.

VIew photos of "Cabaret" stars then and now, then scroll down to keep reading:

Then, of course, there are the unforgettable musical numbers, which feature Fosse’s slinky choreography and tunes written by John Kander and Fred Ebb, the Broadway songwriting team also behind “Chicago.”

In addition to Minnelli, the musical sequences are perhaps most memorable for the presence of Grey as the sinister Emcee. That androgynous character, which Grey also portrayed in the original Broadway production of “Cabaret,” has long been one of the film’s most puzzling and controversial figures. Throughout the film, he performs a vaudeville-style number about a threesome (“Two Ladies”), croons a barely-disguised ode to anti-Semitism (“If You Could See Her”) and, of course, appears amidst a pack of chorus girls while wearing a corset, fishnets and stiletto heels.

Like his co-star York, Grey said at the press event last week that he wasn’t deterred by the film’s envelope-pushing content, even though Fosse purposely left the actor to his own devices when it came to creating a backstory for his character.

“I made a whole life for myself because there was no text, and there was really no description of who [the Emcee] was,” says Grey, who prepared for the role by studying a lot of German Expressionist paintings and listening to music of the Weimar era. “I was terrified, because I thought it was going to be a musical comedy, just four or five numbers … [but] I wanted it to be really horrifying.”

Actress Marisa Berenson, who portrayed Jewish heiress Natalia Landauer, didn’t have any musical numbers of her own, but nonetheless described her own set of challenges faced during filming in Germany.

“[German officials] would come into the studio in Munich, where we were shooting the cabaret numbers, and sometimes they would want to forbid certain things from being said,” she said, sitting with her fellow co-stars at the event. Shooting on location “gave the movie an added dimension … it really captured the dangers and horrors of what was going on in those days.”

To a lesser degree, playing a man who slept with men did have some unexpected consequences for York, who has been married to Patricia McCallum since 1968.

“For years afterward, I had every script involving a repressed English homosexual teacher,” he said with a laugh. “So I was so glad I could do ‘The Three Musketeers' [in 1973], screwing every skirt in sight!”

"Cabaret" is out on Blu-ray now.

Liz Smith: Will Beyonce Rule in 2013? I Say Yes!

0
0

"LUCK IS what happens when preparation meets opportunity," said the Roman philosopher Seneca.

  • DESPITE the infamous blackout out at the Super Bowl, people are still talking about Beyonce's performance. Some even blame her electric sexuality as the cause of the outage! (Conspiracy theorists insist it was really Madonna's doing, but something went wrong. The power was supposed to go out during Beyonce's performance!)

But seriously, just as Madonna's epic Super Bowl performance last year was the kickoff to her insanely successful world tour, so it is with Beyonce. Her tour begins in April, and is expected to bring in $100 million more than her last round of concerts.

I am predicting Beyonce will be 2013's woman of the year. Other than beauty and talent, this is a really, really nice girl, a super human being. She works so hard. She always wants to do the right thing. People who interview her come away charmed by her sincerity and her aspirations.

She yearns for sophisticated culture, like being photographed in world museums looking at Impressionists paintings. They are so pretty, she says demurely. Watch Beyonce go from better to better. Her complainers from PETA not withstanding. I'd say if she buttoned down and got a tutored education while ruling the world she will become a world beater lasting star. Even in films. (Her movie stardom was supposed to happen with Dreamgirls but good as she was, Jennifer Hudson had the famously meaty role as Effie, which won her an Oscar. Not that Hudson's movie career is exactly red-hot.)
    this is
All Jennifer needs is an education to add to her talent, sex appeal and her good willing heart. I know some you will say: "Oh, sure. She has a gazillion bucks, a loving husband and a beautiful baby. She really needs 'education.'" I don't think she "needs" it. She's not dumb, by any means. My feeling is that she wants it. Wants to be more than the powerhouse she already is.

Oh, and on Feb. 12th HBO's documentary, Beyonce: Life Is but a Dream premieres at the Ziegfeld Theatre. To be accurate, it is really Beyonce's documentary. Says so right at the top -- "A Film by Beyonce Knowles." And she has a new CD coming out, her first in two years. As I said, 2013 is gonna be Miss Knowles' year.

  • WELL, IT IS A JOY THAT THE very picky Director's Guild selected Ben Affleck as best for his film Argo, which, if you haven't seen it, has more tension, comedy, tragedy and suspense than anything else on film this year. Most directors, who are the only ones who get to vote, want to win this award more than the Oscar for best director. The Academy Awards on Feb. 24th will be up the creek without a paddle if Argo should win best picture and they slighted even nominating Mr. Affleck.  He is very deserving.
  • ONE OF my alert correspondents, TC Bill wants to give me Rob Kardashian socks for my birthday.  On the whole I'd rather have a socks check for Literacy Partners, but, nevermind. Kardashian socks would definitely match getting a birthday cake shaped like an armadillo, as I did the other day at Michaels restaurant. (I am suggesting that Michaels media cafe should put the entire Liz Smith lunch on their running menu. People would love it! I did. And so did my select guests some of whom had never eaten collard greens, pickled okra, cornbread, or armadillo.)

But TC did have one good idea. Why, he asks, doesn't  someone bring back the show What's My Line? created by the late Mark Goodson? This is a free tip to someone I admire, Jeff Zucker at CNN. Audiences these days love celebrities; they love masked celebrities as questioners, they love guessing. And the prize could be big either for the guest or for their charities. I just happened to have dinner the other eve with Mr. Goodson's last great wife, Suzanne. She nursed him through his final illness. He left this world with an oath.

But even if I didn't approve of him I spoke at his memorial and so maybe Suzanne can guide TC and me in bringing back What's My Line? (This would be such an easy and inexpensive show to produce. and top celebrities might say yes if people were guessing who they were and not asking all those nasty questions like when did you go into rehab, how much is your habit, and have you ever had sex with a priest or a nun?)

I LOVE it when readers ask me intricate questions or send intricate ideas beyond my ken. Here is Mitchell McGuire: "Now that SAG (Screen Actors Guild) has merged with AFTRA (American Federation of TV & Radio Artists) what about a fund-raising gala for the latter?  They have a foundation similar to SAG's. They have gala fundraisers. First of which was produced by the late 'Living Landmark'  Martin Segal and myself. There is a chance the two funds will merge on galas  but that won't happen soon. Just want to keep you in the loop." OK, I -- Liz --  belong to both unions. I believe in unions. I voted for this merger. But I don't know the answer.  Anybody?

Whoopi Goldberg, who is always doing something for somebody in need, is asking us to Save the Date for the Public Prep Network Third Annual "Namesake Luncheon" honoring Whoopi and Barclays. It happens April 30 at the Metropolitan Club 1 East 60th street. Call 212 -380-8973.

And I am asking you to save the cocktail hour on April 9th because Whoopi and I will be sitting down together to raise a little scratch for the Maria Droste agency. This group helps people who need psychiatric help.  Last year I chatted with Bette Midler and she gave me some fascinating answers. I had never understood Hawaii before.  This year I will ask Whoopi to go blonde and ask her why she is all sweetness and light on The View. What? You think she isn't all sweetness and light? Hmmmm. Call 212 -889-4042 for tickets. This will be fun.

Mariah Carey is joining "Oz."

Disney announced on Wednesday that Carey is lending her powerhouse vocals to the upcoming "Oz The Great and Powerful." Carey recorded a song called "Almost Home" for the film.

"It’s a feel-good record, evoking the feeling of reaching your home and being with people that you love," Carey said in a release.

This isn't the first time that Carey has recorded a song for a movie. She wrote and recorded a song called "Mesmerized" for "The Paperboy" last year.

"Oz" will also be incorporated into Carey's music video for "Almost Home." Famed photographer David LaChapelle is set to direct the video, which he calls "a duet between Mariah and the movie."

Starring James Franco, Mila Kunis, and Michelle Williams, "Oz The Great and Powerful" hits theaters on March 8.

'Cosby' Sisters Open Up About Reuniting On 'Guys With Kids'

The Huxtable girls are getting ready to play sisters again on the "Guys With Kids" finale.

Although their characters don't get along very well on the episode, Tempestt Bledsoe -- who plays Marny on the series -- told TV Guide she couldn't have been happier to reunite with Keshia Knight Pulliam, who will play her spoiled sister Bridget.

"I grew up with Keshia. She's like my sister, so we immediately clicked again," Bledsoe told TV Guide. "When producers decided to cast the role they asked me how I'd feel about having Keshia and I said, 'Absolutely!' I think they're fantasizing about having all of 'The Cosby Show' cast pop up."

Pulliam is equally excited about her reunion episode, but emphasized that an actual "Cosby" reunion show won't likely happen. "Mr. Cosby was very clear about wanting to maintain the purity of the legacy," Pulliam said to TV Guide. "Sometimes you tarnish the memory when you beat a dead horse."

Bledsoe reunited with her on-screen dad Bill Cosby on an episode of "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" last month. While Cosby and Bledsoe had a blast on the show, Cosby admitted it had been difficult watching his TV daughter grow up.

"When she turns out to be stunning, then you have problems," he joked.

"Guys With Kids" airs on Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. EST on NBC.

Most Extreme Celebrity Tour Riders

Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey may be bitter enemies right now, but they can definitely bond over one thing: their crazy tour riders.

Both divas, but certainly not them solely, have bizarre demands whenever they go on tour or are chosen to perform somewhere. Like what? Oh, like 20 white kittens and 100 doves, for example (Ms. Mariah), or buckets of spicy fried chicken -- no thighs, lot of wings (Ms. Minaj).

In light of the recently discovered tour rider of Lady Gaga, which includes one mannequin with puffy pink pubic hair, we decided to go back and check: what are the world's biggest stars' most outrageous demands?

In-N-Out Heiress's $$$ Child Support Payment

President and owner of In-N-Out Burger, Lynsi Torres, is serving up one hefty child support payment.

According to divorce documents obtained by Radar Online, the 30-year-old fast food heiress is required to pay almost $19,000 per month in child support to her ex-husband, Richard Martinez, whom she divorced in 2011. The former couple shares joint custody of their 8-year-old twins.

In addition to the hefty monthly payment, Torres -- who was recently named the youngest female billionaire in the U.S. -- is also responsible for covering the cost of the children's private school tuition. According to the prenup, she does not owe Martinez any spousal support.

Torres and Martinez -- her second husband -- tied the knot in 2006. In 2011, she married her third husband, race car driver Val Torres, Jr.

Torres is the granddaughter of Harry and Esther Snyder, who founded the West Coast burger chain in 1948.

Gavin Newsom: 'I Don't Go Cheap On Hair Gel'

California Lieutenant Governor and former mayor Gavin Newson (aka Bruce Wayne) confirmed a suspicion long-held by San Franciscans in an interview with Politico on Thursday.

When asked to name the one thing he never goes cheap on, the former mayor replied without missing a beat, "hair gel."

Yes, just as one mayor's ambition can't keep the 49ers in San Francisco, LA Looks can't tame those locks.

While Newsom's progressive policies on subjects like gay marriage and renewable energy gained him national attention, our handsome Lt. Gov has become almost as famous for his signature slick bouffant, inspiring faux Twitter and Facebook feeds devoted entirely to the subject.

In 2009, SF Weekly even declared October 10 "Comb Your Hair Like Gavin Newsom Day."

But grooming wasn't the only dish on the table. Politico posed a titillating set of topics ranging from public policy to his worst childhood memory, to how often he Googles himself to an impromptu haiku about his mother (which is surprisingly tender).

Check out the full interview at Politico.

Russell Brand: Marriage To Katy Perry Was 'Brilliant'

0
0

Did Russell Brand's divorce from Katy Perry turn him off of marriage altogether?

"Not at all," the British funnyman said in an interview with UK magazine ShortList Wednesday. "I liked marriage. Most of it was brilliant. You can’t condemn an institution on one incident. You can’t condemn the whole Catholic Church for a few dodgy priests."

Brand also opened up about how his very public split changed him, telling the magazine, "I feel different about my private life. I feel like I need to have one now. If you’re married to someone who’s also famous, privacy becomes a commodity."

But where exactly did his marriage to Perry go wrong? As it turns out, the two celebrities just weren't compatible.

"Sometimes it goes well, sometimes it don't," the "Brand X" star said in a September 2012 interview with Australia's "60 Minutes." "But if you sort of sense there’s an incompatibility, then in any relationship, regardless of the status of the individual, it kind of is best to go separate ways."

Brand filed for divorce from Perry in December 2011, just 14 months after the pair tied the knot in India. They finalized their split in July 2012.

Watch the video above for more on Brand's thoughts on marriage. Then, click through the slides below for photos of him and Perry in happier times.

Constance Zimmer Talks Shaking Up 'Grey's,' Playing The Bitch & More

0
0

Seattle Grace has been riddled with anxiety and friction since Dr. Alana Cahill arrived. The consultant -- played by "Grey's Anatomy" guest star Constance Zimmer -- has been working on trimming the fat in order to get the hospital running efficiently.

Last week, Dr. Cahill closed down the ER, but it looks like that's just the tip of the iceberg. At the end of the most recent episode of "Grey's Anatomy," she dropped quite the bomb: Seattle Grace is up for sale in the wake of the plane crash survivors' settlement, which leaves the hospital responsible for $15 million per survivor.

Zimmer took the time to chat with HuffPost TV via phone about what's ahead for her whip-cracking character on "Grey's Anatomy" and much more. Below, find out if Dr. Cahill will be involved in one of Shonda Rhimes' signature romantic entanglements, Zimmer's reaction to her line in "House of Cards" that has the internet all atwitter and whether or not the woman best known as Dana Gordon will pop in the "Entourage" movie, which is happening for real this time.

Your "Grey's Anatomy" character has caused quite the uproar at Seattle Grace.
Yes. And I'm not stopping there. There's more coming.

It get worse?
Yeah.

On this week's episode, Seattle Grace is brought an emergency case involving a child, but there's no more ER. What can you tease about it?
I feel like this week's episode shows that although there might be conflict amongst the doctors, it proves that when people come together and work as a team, they can kind of make anything happen. But she's not part of the team.

Yeah, it looks like the doctors operate behind Cahill's back.
Yeah, I'm not really part of that team so even though it shows camaraderie on one side, it also hurts on the side of where she's coming from, which is just trying to keep this hospital open. So there's definitely some conflict that arises between her and the doctors, which is clearly nothing new. [Laughs.]

Last week, we saw Alana seemingly rediscover her love of surgery. It looked like that might lead her to change her tune about the ER, but it didn't. Will we find out more about her backstory, like what led her to stop operating regularly and why she is who she is?
Yes, there will definitely be an episode coming up that shows why she's ended up in this position and why being a surgeon was not her MO, apparently. You are going to get to see that in her and, of course, she is being affected by all of the doctors because she's been there now for quite some time, but yet, she still has to keep a united front in terms of her reasons for being there. Keeping it business and trying not to make it too personal is hard, but it also is why she's good at her job because she can do that.

It seems like that could be hard with Hunt (Kevin McKidd), who was trying to crack her a bit. In the operating room, do you think he was being genuine or was he manipulating her into softening up a bit?
I definitely think, in those scenes, I do believe that it was genuine and that he was starting to feel a little bad for her because she was an amazing surgeon and he saw that firsthand. But then, of course, as she presented the surprise that she was trying to prime the hospital to sell it, I think it just made him realize, "Oh, this is not personal. This is business." It doesn't matter how friendly they may get, a job is a job and I'm there to do a specific job. You know, it's tough because I want people to like her, but that's not her job. Her job is to get something done.

That's true for a lot of your characters.
Right. [Laughs.] Which is so crazy! Thank God I have a healthy ego in knowing that I'm not a bitch in real life because I would start to think, "Wow. People either just really don't like me or maybe I give that off." I have to say I'm kind of proud of the bad-ass characters that I play. They're kind of the most fun to do, especially Cahill on "Grey's." I was very excited that I didn't get to do just that. In the end, she does actually get to have a true arc where you see that she does have a soft side -- it's just kind of hidden. [Laughs.]

Is it especially hard, when you're guest starring on a show that's now in its ninth season, to play someone who's not well-liked?
Yes. That was definitely my biggest concern going on to the show: How people were going to be. But I have to say, from the first table read until the last table read, it could not have been a nicer group of actors and there are so may of them and they are all so different and they've all been there for such different ranges of time. That's actually what made it the hardest to leave -- everybody was so nice to me and I think because the storyline actually is really great and they were all very excited to have that to play with so it made it easy for us as people to have a really good time.

Shonda Rhimes is known for her steamy hookups. Any chance we'll see anything along those lines for Dr. Cahill?
I think it's safe for me to say no because, again, she was there to fulfill a certain purpose and once her purpose has been fulfilled, there's no need to drag it out and I like that. I really like having a true arc and that was what made this character so much fun, knowing that she had a beginning, middle and an end and it wasn't just kind of like a wishy-washy storyline. Even though I'd like to seem appealing enough to have a romantic interest ...[Laughs.]

You're also on "House of Cards" and your character has a line on that show that was a huge hit.
[Laughs.] I was surprised and excited and mystified by the whole social media, which I'm still fairly new to. I just joined Twitter a year ago, specifically for "House of Cards." It was kind of amazing. It made me super excited for the show and just in general that just like that, one thing comes out of your mouth and there's a line that Zoe [Kate Mara's character] says: "Nowadays, when you say something to one person, you're saying it to a thousand." And there it was! That was the exact thing that was happening. It was fascinating.

Now that the "Entourage" movie is really happening, do you know if Dana Gordon will be making a return?
I do know that Dana will be a part of it, but I want to back that up by saying I won't believe it until I'm actually on the set. Doug [Ellin, the creator of "Entourage"] has told me that Dana Gordon will live in the movie, but I know that scripts change all the time and people's opinions change all the time, but I would hope that there couldn't be an "Entourage" movie without Dana Gordon.

"Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursdays at 9 p.m EST on ABC.

Steven Tyler To Testify About Celebrity Privacy In Hawaii

0
0

HONOLULU — Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler plans to attend a legislative hearing in Hawaii on Friday on a bill that bears his name and would limit people's freedom to take photos and video of celebrities.

Hawaii's Senate Judiciary Committee plans to consider the so-called Steven Tyler Act on Friday morning, the first time lawmakers will discuss the bill publicly.

A publicist for the former "American Idol" judge told The Associated Press on Thursday that Tyler submitted written testimony supporting the proposal, which would allow people to collect damages from someone who photographs them in an offensive way during their personal or family time.

More than a dozen celebrities have submitted testimony supporting the bill, including Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Neil Diamond, Tommy Lee and the Osborne family. The letters all included the same text.

The stars say paparazzi have made simple activities like cooking with family and sunbathing elusive luxuries and the bill would give them peace of mind.

"Providing a remedy to the often-egregious acts of the paparazzi is a very notable incentive to purchase property or vacation on the islands," the stars said. "Not only would this help the local economy, but it would also help ensure the safety of the general public, which can be threatened by crowds of cameramen or dangerous high-speed car chases."

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie says he supports the intent of the bill but says it may need to be refined. He says the state attorney general will testify about legal concerns concerning the bill's language.

Sen. Kalani English, from Maui, says he introduced the bill at the request of Tyler, who owns a multimillion-dollar home in Maui. More than two-thirds of the state's senators have co-sponsored the bill.

English says the bill will spur celebrity tourism to the islands, boosting Hawaii's economy.

Opponents say the bill could be unconstitutional.

Laurie Temple, an attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union, said Thursday the bill would punish freedoms of expression protected by the First Amendment.

She said lawmakers should support better enforcement of current stalking laws rather than passing new legislation.

The National Press Photographers Association said the bill is "well-meaning but ill-conceived" and tramples on constitutional rights.

The New York-based organization represents numerous national media organizations with its letter, including the Society of Professional Journalists, the Associated Press Media Editors and the American Society of News Editors.

The Motion Picture Association of America also opposes the bill.

Among other objections, the association says the bill could make it harder to police movie piracy, because there's no exemption for law enforcement who might want to take photos or video of people they're investigating.

The bill would open up photographers, videographers and distributors to civil lawsuits if they take, sell or disseminate photos or videos of someone during private or family moments "in a manner that is offensive to a reasonable person."

The bill doesn't specify whether public places, like Hawaii's beaches, would be exempt. The bill says it would apply to people who take photos from boats or anywhere else within ocean waters.

English says the bill is not intended to limit beach photos. But he says Tyler has had paparazzi hide in his bushes to take photos of him inside his house.

Photos of vacationing stars in swimsuits have long been a fixture in tabloids and celebrity magazines.

The state's largest newspaper, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, published an editorial Thursday that called lawmakers who support the bill "star-struck."

The newspaper said the bill might not affect only journalists.

"It could also make lawbreakers out of anyone taking photographs in public places, be it an ordinary photojournalist or someone with a camera phone," the editorial said.

Bizarre Celeb Mentions In Manifesto

In a lengthy online manifesto he called his "Last resort," suspected murderer Christopher Dorner details the events that led to his termination from the Los Angeles Police Department and lists a group of people he held responsible for his dismissal.

The letter, posted to his personal Facebook profile, delves into controversial subjects for the LAPD -- accusations of racism among officers, blatant use of the "n-word" within the department and charges that police used excessive force on people with mental illnesses.

But Dorner's manifesto also serves as his final testament. He writes that he didn't expect to be able to clear his name while alive, so he uses the end of his letter to thank his closest friends and offer up critiques or encouragement to people in the public eye that inspired or infuriated him. The following is a list of each celebrity and journalist in his manifesto, as well as Dorner's message for them.

WARNING: Dorner uses graphic language.

  • "Mia Farrow said it best. "Gun control is no longer debatable, it's not a conversation, its a moral mandate."
  • "Off the record, I love your new bangs, Mrs. Obama. A woman whose professional and educational accomplishments are second to none when compared to recent First wives."
  • "It's kind of sad I won't be around to view and enjoy The Hangover III. What an awesome trilogy. Todd Phillips, don't make anymore Hangovers after the third, takes away the originallity of its foundation."
  • "World War Z looks good and The Walking Dead season 3 (second half) looked intriguing. Damn, gonna miss shark week."
  • "Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough, Par Harvey, Brian Williams, Soledad Obrien, Wolf Blitzer, Meredith Viera, Tavis Smiley, and Anderson Cooper, keep up the great work and follow Cronkite's lead. I hold many of you in he same regard as Tom Brokaw and the late Peter Jennings. Cooper, stop nagging and berating your guest, they're your (guest). Mr. Scarborough, we met at McGuire's pub in P-cola in 2002 when I was stationed there. It was an honor conversing with you about politics, family, and life."
  • "Will Geist, you're a talented and charismatic journalist. Stop with all the talk show shenanigans and get back to your core of reporting. Your future is brighter than most."
  • "Revoke the citizenship of Fareed Zakaria and deport him. I've never heard a positive word about America or its interest from his mouth, ever. On the same day, give Piers Morgan an indefinite resident alien and Visa card."
  • "Ellen Degeneres, continue your excellent contribution to entertaining America and bringing the human factor to entertainment. You changed the perception of your gay community and how we as Americans view the LGBT community. I congratulate you on your success and opening my eyes as a young adult, and my generation to the fact that you are know different from us other than who you choose to love. Oh, and you Prop 8 supporters, why the fuck do you care who your neighbor marries. Hypocritical pieces of shit."
  • "Tebow, I really wanted to see you take charge of an offense again and the game. You are not a good QB by today's standards, but you are a great footballer who knows how to lead a team and WIN. You will be "Tebowing" when you reach your next team. I have faith in you. Get out of that circus they call the jets and away from reality TV star, Rex Ryan, and Mark Rapist Sanchez."
  • "Christopher Walz, you impressed me in Inglorious Basterds. After viewing Django Unchained, I was sold. I have come to the conclusion that you are well on your way to becoming one of the greats if not already and show glimpses of Daniel Day Lewis and Morgan Freeman-esque type qualities of greatness. Trust me when I say you will be one of the greatest ever."
  • "Jennifer Beals, Serena Williams, Grae Drake, Lisa Nicole-Carson, Diana Taurasi, N'bushe Wright, Brenda Villa, Kate Winslet, Ashley Graham, Erika Christensen, Gabrielle Union, Isabella Soprano, Zain Verjee, Tamron Hall, Gina Carano, America Ferrara, Giana Michaels, Nene, Natalie Portman, Queen Latifah, Michelle Rodriguez, Anjelah Johnson, Kelly Clarkson, Nora Jones, Laura Prepon, Margaret Cho, and Rutina Wesley, you are THE MOST beautiful women on this planet, period. Never settle, professionally or personally."
  • "Dave Brubeck's 'Take Five' is the greatest piece of music ever, period. Hanz Zimmer, William Bell, Eric Clapton, BB King, Bob Marley, Sam Cooke, Metallica, Rob Zombie, Nora Jones, Marvin Gaye, Jay-Z, and the King (Louis Armstrong) are musical prodigies."
  • "John and Ken from KFI, never mute your facts and personal opinions. You are one of the few media personalities who speak the truth, even when the truth isnot popular. I will miss listening to your discussions."
  • "Bill Handel, your effin awesome. For years I enjoyed your show."
  • "Anthony Bourdain, you're a modern renaissance man who epitomizes the saying 'too cool for school'".
  • "Larry David, Kevin Hart, the late Patrice Oneal, Lisa Lampanelli, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Louis CK, Dave Chapelle, Jon Stewart, Wanda Sykes, Dennis Miller, and Jeff Ross are pure geniuses. I'm a big fan of all of your work. As a child my mom caught me watching Def Jam comedy at midnight when I should have been asleep. Instead of scolding me, the next night she let me stay up late and watch George Carlin, Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor comedy specials with her for hours. My sides were sore for days."
  • "Larry David, I agree. 72-82 degrees is way to hot in a residence. 68 degrees is perfect."
  • "Charlie Sheen, you're effin awesome."
  • "Mr. Bill Cosby, you are a reasonable and talented man who has spoken the truth of the cultural anomalies within the black communities that need to change now. The black communities' resentment toward you is because they don't like hearing the truth or having their clear and evident dirty laundry aired to the nation."

Dorner also had words of advice for a range of political figures, including President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Wayne LaPierre of the NRA and retired LA cardinal Roger Mahony. Check out Buzzfeed for excerpts of the manifesto directed at political figures.

Dorner is suspected in the shooting deaths of Monica Quan and her fiance, Keith Lawrence Sunday evening (Quan was the daughter of someone on the police force). Dorner also allegedly ambushed four police officers Thursday morning, killing one, critically wounding another and grazing a third with a bullet. Police conducted a door-to-door search for Dorner in Big Bear, Calif. Thursday afternoon, where his truck was found.

Phylicia Rashad Talks Returning To TV, 'Cosby' Reunions & More!

Phylicia Rashad hasn't been a series regular on television since "The Cosby Show" (and a few of its incarnations thereafter). But Clair Huxtable is a far cry from Dr. Vanessa Young, the character on "Do No Harm" that lured Rashad -- who's done guest spots and spent the majority of her time in theater -- back to primetime.

NBC's "Do No Harm" centers on Dr. Jason Cole (Steven Pasquale), a big-shot neurosurgeon with a multiple-personality disorder that can no longer be suppressed by an experimental medication. Now, it's wearing off, and Jason's destructive alter-ego Ian Price is coming out in the evening hours and wreaking all sorts of havoc. Rashad's character Dr. Young plays Jason's boss and a big champion of Dr. Cole, as well. But presumably, that's all about to change.

Below, Rashad talks to The Huffington Post about what drew her back into television, watching her TV kids grow up, playing a doctor (and her previous expreience narrating a ride in Walt Disney World), having former "Cosby" co-star Jurnee Smollett play her on-screen daughter and much more.

What attracted you to "Do No Harm" and the role of Dr. Vanessa Young?
The writing. It is intense, it is suspenseful, it is engaging. It is all of that and that's what attracted me to it. I thought, "This is certainly a departure from any of the work that I have done before and have been doing most recently. And you know, I like it!" I've been presented with pilots over the years and none of them have really caught my attention like this did.

Is this your first time playing a doctor?
Well, if you go down to Disney World, I'm down there at the Dino Institute in the [Dinosaur] ride. [Laughs.]

Oh right! Did you have to do any research to get comfortable with the terminology or anything?
I grew up around doctors so they don't go around talking like that all day long, but having grown up around doctors, dentists and healthcare professionals, I'm not intimated by that type of language.

In the pilot, Dr. Young seems to like Dr. Cole and trust him, but it seems like only a matter of time before she meets Ian and that all changes. How does that affect her?
Everybody is affected by the changes. Everyone. Every character because we're all working together.

Is there potential for her to help him?
Well, there's certainly potential for her to try.

Though you've done a lot of theater, people know you in the TV world for doing comedy. Have you found doing a TV drama to be very different?
For me, it's all acting. It's all performance. Yes, there are some differences. It's a different format: Instead of working with one director as we did on "The Cosby Show" for so long -- Jay Sandrich -- now I'm working with multiple directors and each of them has their own approach and their own style so that's the difference. The differences tend to be approach and technique.

What has it been like working with Steven?
He is a very upbeat, joy-filled and extremely talented individual. He works very hard, but he doesn't let you feel that. You know that because you're watching it. [Laughs.] He never lets you feel the weight of that on him. It's a lot, but he's really disciplined.

Jurnee Smollett is playing your daughter on the show and that's a bit of a reunion for you two because you worked with her on "Cosby." What was it like working with her again?
We have done two episodes and gosh, it was so good. [Laughs.] It was wonderful. She's a very fine actress and she's a very great person so it was just wonderful.

Now that you're back on NBC, have you been running into Tempestt Bledsoe since she's back with the network too on "Guys with Kids"?
No, I have not seen Tempestt. I'm looking forward to seeing her and congratulating her in person and to tell her what a marvelous job I think she's doing and how very proud of her I am. I really am very, very proud of her. Bill and I always thought she had that. Mr. Cosby and I always used to talk about how we thought she had great potential as an adult actress. And that's why she can do that kind of comedy because she's not playing for laughs; she's playing for honesty.

Keshia Knight Puliam is guest-starring on the show as her sister.
Oh, I can't wait to see that. [Laughs.]

"Do No Harm" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
