Rita Ora is just one of the many celebrities who has sought out some sun this holiday season.

The 22-year-old singer spent Christmas in Dubai, and she wasn't shy about sharing some photos of herself on Instagram. Ora recently broke up with Rob Kardashian, but from the looks of the photos -- he might have been the last thing on her mind.

The British singer stripped down to a bikini to soak up the sun and cool off in the water on Nasimi Beach at Atlantis, The Palm Hotel.

"Xmas at the beach :)," she tweeted to her 2.1 million followers, and posted a photo of herself splashing around.

Do You Know Natalie Portman's Real Name?

These days, we feel like we know everything about our favorite stars. But sometimes, there's one very important detail that has escaped our celebrity lexicons -- their names!

From Meg Ryan and Elton John to Lana Del Rey and Natalie Portman, do you know what names are actually on their birth certificates?

Find out below:

R&B Singer Brandy Is Engaged!

The boy is hers!

Us Weekly reports that 33-year-old actress/R&B singer Brandy Norwood is engaged to music executive Ryan Press.

But the former "Moesha" star wasn't exactly blindsided by the reported proposal.

In August, Norwood told Sister 2 Sister magazine, "I keep hearing about a ring. People keep calling me, hinting to me about it, but I don't know...I'm going to be patient and let it happen and just let it be."

This will be the first marriage for the singer, although she previously claimed she was married to Robert Smith -- the father of her child -- because she was concerned about the social perception of having a child out of wedlock. In 2008, Norwood came clean about the fact that the pair never formally tied the knot.

In the October issue of VIBE Vixen magazine, the singer even admitted that she thought about giving up on love for good until she met her current fiancé.

"[I] was looking for love to do something for me; to make me happy, fill a void, make me feel complete, and all of these things don’t come from another, it comes from a love of self," she told the magazine. "I didn’t understand that at the time... I said a prayer and I waited. And I saw Ryan."

Joss Whedon's Big 'Buffy' Regret

Joss Whedon has killed off many fan-favorite characters in his TV heyday, but his biggest "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" regret involves a cartoon. At a question and answer panel, Whedon said not getting the "Buffy" animated series off the ground is his biggest regret regarding the popular TV franchise.

"We got to do almost everything we wanted to do," Whedon said at a Director’s Guild event. “The only thing we didn't get to do is an animated version, which was a delight for us because the writers themselves were working on it."

According to Whedon, the writers produced seven scripts with the idea "what could we not do [on the regular series]" in mind.

"They were really fun to write," Whedon said. "We could not sell the show. We could not sell an animated 'Buffy,' which I still find incomprehensible."

The series had most of the main cast reprising their roles and was set during the first three seasons of the series.

Whedon's been on a roll revealing "Buffy" thoughts close to 10 years after the series wrapped. During a Reddit AMA, he revealed which character was the hardest to kill: Joyce Summers, Buffy's mom.

Yoko Ono Says McCartney Mostly To Blame For Beatles Breakup

Newly released recordings of interviews with some of music's biggest names -- from Steven Tyler to Graham Nash -- reveal yet another wrinkle in the decades-long mystery of precisely why the Beatles called it quits.

In a recorded interview with industry bigwig Joe Smith (via Rolling Stone), John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono gets to the nitty gritty of what she described as a "divorce." While Ono maintained that Lennon was "feeling very good about" the breakup, she admitted that some tensions were forming within the band. "The Beatles were getting very independent," she said in the 1987 interview. "Each one of them [was] getting independent. John, in fact, was not the first who wanted to leave the Beatles. [We saw] Ringo [Starr] one night with Maureen [Starkey Tigrett], and he came to John and me and said he wanted to leave. George [Harrison] was next, and then John. Paul [McCartney] was the only one trying to hold the Beatles together. But the other three thought Paul would hold the Beatles together as his band. They were getting to be like Paul's band, which they didn't like."

Ono also said the breakup put some strains on her relationship with Lennon, noting that she felt the late icon missed his bandmates and "expected all that to be replaced by me."

All told, it's an account that matches up with McCartney's recent comments. In October, McCartney told David Frost that Ono "did not break the group up" because it was "already breaking up."

More recordings, including interviews with Harrison, McCartney, Mick Jagger, Ray Charles, David Bowie and many more are available at the Library of Congress' website.

In other Ono news, the musician and activist recently debuted a menswear line for Opening Ceremony, which has debuted to mixed reviews.

Anne Hathaway On 'Les Mis' Performance: 'Eh'

Anne Hathaway has received some of the best reviews of her career for "Les Miserables," just not necessarily from herself.

In Tom Hooper's new film, Hathaway stars as Fantine, a doomed single mother-turned-prostitute who sings one of the musical's standout songs: "I Dreamed a Dream." Hooper had the cast perform live on the "Les Miserables" set, which meant each actor had to sing multiple times per scene before getting the songs right. According to a new profile of Hathaway in The Los Angeles Times, Hooper told the actress that she nailed her scene on the fourth take. Not that she was pleased: Hathaway sang "I Dreamed a Dream" 20 more times before stopping.

"I was like, 'Fair enough.' I never bettered [the fourth take]," she said. When The Times' Amy Kaufman asked Hathaway if she was pleased with the performance, she replied, "Eh."

Hathaway's modesty notwithstanding, the 30-year-old star was incredibly moved with the final version of "Les Miserables" and her show-stopping scene.

"I cry, but I think it's because I'm still connected to the experience of making it, the process," Hathaway told MTV about watching "I Dreamed a Dream." "For me, when I see it, I actually have to be aware when I'm doing press, because it brings me a lot closer to Fantine. She's so broken that I actually have to protect myself a little bit. So when I saw it, I did cry, but not because of what I was doing [on screen]. It was because I was back in the process of making it. The rest of the film made me bawl like a baby."

Hulk Hogan To Open 'Breastaurant'

0
0

In recent years, it's become commonplace for celebrities to release their own brands of liquor, their own wine labels and even open their own restaurants. Given the recent surge in the popularity of so-called "breastaurants" -- restaurants known just as much for their bosomy waitstaff as their menu items -- we suppose it was only a matter of time until a celebrity decided to cash in that trend as well.

Hulk Hogan is that celebrity. On New Year's Eve, the former wrestling personality is set to open "Hogan's Beach," a 20,0000-square-foot beachfront property on the Courtney Campbell Causeway in Tampa Bay, Fla.

Hogan told the Tampa Bay Times that the the eatery is "going to be Jimmy Buffet's [Margaritaville] times 10; Hooters times 10." It'll be a "logical extension of the Hogan brand," he continued, with his image and likeness plastered about the place.

There's no word yet on what the waitstaff will wear (or not wear), but Hogan did reveal that the restaurant will feature a mechanical shark ride, volleyball courts, fire pits, cabanas and tiki huts. He also dished about the possibility of a reality show centered around the eatery. "CMT is very interested," he said, describing the would-be program as "Baywatch, Muscle Beach and Cheers all in one."

Since we first learned of the breastaurants mini-boom, we've discovered a slew of them that we never knew existed -- and learned how to eat in them without seeming creepy.

We suggest you read up before dining at Hogan's Beach.

Zach Udko: The Top 10 Top 10 Lists of 2012

2012 was the year that was supposed to destroy us -- and it nearly did.

After surviving an unparalleled disaster that rocked us to our core (Lindsay Lohan in Liz & Dick), we pulled together as a nation of Thelmas and Louises, ready to boldly drive off the fiscal cliff together.

Now, as December draws to a close, our nation's critics and bloggers have once again generously given us their thoughts on the main cultural and newsworthy events of the year in the form of Top 10 lists. Since my earliest childhood, I have always been a sucker for these holiday treats, savoring the opportunity to measure the tastes of each scribe against my own.

These essential lists provide us with a sense of perspective, comfort and order. They fulfill a deeply spiritual need to make sense of our existences in the face of a cruel and capricious universe. As the Italian novelist Umberto Eco explains, "It's a way of escaping thoughts about death. We like lists because we don't want to die."

And so, in recognition of their enduring value, instead of offering my own Top 10 films, plays or books, I present to you my Top 10 Top 10 Lists of 2012. I hope that a close inspection of these items (varied in content, unparalleled in exuberance) helps you grapple with the incomprehensible as we begin to face new mysteries in 2013. Without further ado, these are the lists that fascinated and enlightened me this year:

10. Top 10 Most Disgusting Objects Allegedly Found in Fast Food (TheWeek.com)

The list that inspired me to learn how to cook.

9. (Tie) Top 10 Best Dressed at the Golden Globes (Vogue)and
Top 10 Worst Dressed at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards (Wetpaint.com)

Any list that places Tilda Swinton on top and Justin Bieber on bottom is one we need to talk about.

8. Top 10 Disturbing Products Derived From the Human Body (Listverse.com)

For teaching us that Soylent Green is no longer science fiction... in China, at least.

7. Top 10 Worst Grooming Mistakes (FoxNews.com with Men's Health)

The most insightful, significant and responsible piece of journalism from Fox News in a long time.

6. Top 10 Credenzas (Elle Décor)

For alerting us to the harsh truth that you are nothing without a credenza. Nothing.

5. Top 10 Weirdest Animal Stories of 2012 (National Geographic)

We finally found a species that urinates out of its mouth. Thank you, National Geographic!

4. Top 10 Items From Oprah's New 'Favorite Things' List That We Actually Love (Business Insider)

Salma Hayek's done it three times. Demi Moore turned heads in 1996. And this past summer, Channing Tatum and his Magic Mike crew joined the club.

Whether it's a sparkly ensemble or a pair of leather pants and a sexy bra -- or in Tatum's case, just a tie -- Hollywood has stripped down on the big screen for many, many years, and Celebuzz is taking a look back at some of the best ever caught on film.

Richard Simmons' Hilarious Reaction To Having His Foot Run Over

0

Fitness guru Richard Simmons is "Sweatin' To The Oldies" with a limp today, after a car ran over his foot, reports TMZ.

The incident took place near the 64-year-old's Hollywood Hills home, and miraculously was caught on tape.

Simmons was chatting away with some passengers on a tour bus, when a passing car ran right over his foot. When the driver realized what happened, he stopped the car and went to make sure Simmons was all right.

The driver apologized and Simmons insisted that he need not worry about it:

"No, it's bleeding, but don't worry about it. The blood is dripping ... No, it's fine," he tells the man who ran over his foot "No, I'm fine, I promise. I'm fine, seriously."

When the car drives away, Simmons' reaction is just hilarious, as he lets out a piercing scream, before breaking into laughter. Though Simmons appears to brush off the accident and even offers to take photos with the tourists, the injury was more serious than it seemed.

A rep for the fitness advocate told TMZ that Simmons is currently at the hospital getting his foot checked out, but that "he will be fine."

We hope Simmons recovers quickly, so he can get back to doing what he does best:

Kate Winslet Receives Trip To Space From Richard Branson

We're not sure whether newlyweds Kate Winslet and Ned Rocknroll registered for a $200,000 ticket to space, but the generous gift has been bestowed on Winslet by her groom's uncle, Sir Richard Branson.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the Virgin mogul wanted to thank the "Titanic" actress for saving his mother from a fire at his Necker Island retreat in the British Virgin Islands last year.

Virgin Galactic's two-hour flights to 60 miles above earth are set to launch next year and have already attracted the likes of Ashton Kutcher and Russell Brand.

Incidentally, Rocknroll also works at Virgin, as "Head of Marketing Promotion and Astronaut Experience" (a job title that resembles our career goals at age 10).

In addition to her hot-ticket honeymoon, we presume Winslet is over the moon about longtime pal and colleague Leonardo DiCaprio walking her down the aisle during her secret nuptials in New York.

WATCH: The Celebrity House Tour We've All Been Waiting For

0
0

It's safe to say that one of the biggest pop culture phenomenons of 2012 was "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo." The TLC reality show (a spinoff of the also popular yet horrifying "Toddlers & Tiaras"), follows the life of child beauty pageant contestant Alana Thompson (Honey Boo Boo) and her family in rural McIntyre, Georgia. And immediately after its initial air date this past August, it became one of the most talked about television programs.

So what better way to close out the year and prepare for the show's return in January than by taking a house tour of the family's humble abode? Alana's mother, June, takes us through the home for a quick tour and inside peek at their daily life.

The tour begins in the family room, where you can find an entertainment center adorned with pageant tiaras. And the shelf right beside it is lined with trophies and sashes. The storage room, or what June, a serious "couponer," refers to as the "stockpile room," is devoid of any pageant paraphernalia. Instead, the wall-to-wall shelves are filled with a three year's supply of toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and other toiletry items. There's also plenty of barbecue and hot sauce -- which she explained are both staples in the family's diet.

June also takes us through the girls' rooms, the kitchen (where she stops to snack on some cheese and honey) and the master bedroom, where all of the girls gather to get ready in the morning like the pageant queens they are.

In the video above, you'll get a taste of how the family lives and what Honey Boo Boo is all about. If you've ever seen the show, you know what to expect from the Thompson-Shannon clan. If you haven't, you'll quickly be horrified, intrigued and totally enamored by the family's completely outrageous ways, all at the same time.

WATCH: Was Charles Barkley's Slavery Joke Funny Or Offensive?

0
0

Charles Barkley has never been a stranger to controversy, and Thursday night was no exception. During TNT's NBA halftime show, "Inside the NBA," the former basketball legend cracked a joke that caused many to take notice due to its reference to slavery.

When co-host Kenny Smith asked him to name his favorite president, Barkley gave an interesting, if not slightly awkward, answer.

"I love President Obama, but Abe Lincoln is my new favorite president," Barkley said. "You know why? Because if it weren't for him, we'd be calling Ernie 'boss.'"

Barkley was referring to co-host Ernie Johnson, the only white anchor on the panel, which also includes Smith and Shaquille O'Neal. The joke elicited laughter from both Smith and Shaq, while Johnson tried to change the subject, only to have the Big Aristotle revert back to calling him "boss."

While some on Twitter found the joke amusing, others thought it to be in poor taste:

The joke brings up the question of whether sports shows are an appropriate venue to discuss sensitive and complicated issues such as race in the first place.

The question was posed by HuffPost blogger B.J. Garrison last week in a post responding to the Rob Parker-RGIII controversy.

"Why is a discussion of racial identity necessary on a sports talk show?" Garrison asked. "What does any of this have to do with ... football?"

However, in reference to Barkely's remarks, SportsGrid's Glenn Davis notes that "not everyone could have pulled off such a joke."

"Yeah, most shows wouldn’t dare go there at all: but this [one's] willingness to do just that is what’s always separated [the show] from its peers," he wrote.

Business Insider's Cork Gaines seems to agree.

"The reason why the show is so good is because they are not afraid to push the limits of what should or should not be said on television. And because of that, you are often left wondering if they just went too far," he wrote.

Do you think Barkley's joke was funny or offensive? Let us know in the comments.
