Jessica Simpson Announces Pregnancy In Commercial She Filmed In November

Jessica Simpson announced she was pregnant with her second child via a tweet on Christmas Day, but the big announcement has long been in the works.

The singer actually broke the news she was pregnant in a commercial she shot back in November! Released today, her latest ad for Weight Watchers sees Simpson boasting that she dropped 50 pounds through the weight loss program, before announcing she's pregnant again.

"Being healthy has become a part of who I am, which is great timing, because I’m having another baby!” Simpson says in the video before introducing Weight Watchers' new 360 program.

Her announcement in the video reminds us that there are very few things in Hollywood that aren't planned to a tee as part of an overall strategy to rake in the profits -- especially pregnancy.

Rumors that Simpson was expecting again started right after the commercial was filmed, which leads us to believe that someone on set "leaked" the news.

It seems it's no coincidence how much free publicity Weight Watchers received after the rumors began, as it was reported Simpson's multi-million dollar endorsement deal was in jeopardy.

Of course, that's not the case. Though Simpson will take a break from the program while she's pregnant, she'll remain a spokesperson for the company, and she'll keep her millions.

“There have been no changes to our business agreement with Jessica,” a rep for Weight Watchers told ABC News. “Jessica’s successful weight loss prior to becoming pregnant will be featured in Weight Watchers’ new ‘Expect Amazing’ advertising campaign, including a spot with her sharing the happy news.”

'Boom! Shabbat Shalom'

Jamal Crawford has consistently provided a spark off the bench for the Los Angeles Clippers and Christmas day against Denver was no different.

Early in the second quarter, the Clippers' sixth man made one of the best highlights of the day when he got out on a fast break. First, Crawford got past Andre Miller with an incredible behind-the-back move. Then after freezing the Nuggets point guard, Crawford put just the right amount of touch on his shot to get it over Kenneth Faried's outstretched arm, off the backboard and through the net.

Billy Crystal, a longtime Clippers fan who joined the ESPN broadcast table to do some play-by-play, said he had seen the move before and even revealed what it's called.

“Where I come from, this is called the 'Shabbat shalom.' Boom! Shabbat shalom,” he said.

Crawford went on to score 22 as the Clippers won their 14th straight game.

Janet Jackson Engaged To Billionaire Boyfriend?

Janet Jackson is reportedly secretly engaged to Qatari billionaire Wissam Al Mana.

Us Weekly reports that the 37-year-old mogul, who made his money in luxury brands and is the managing director of Al Mana Retail, popped the question to Jackson earlier this year, and gave her a "huge" and "expensive" ring that she keeps locked up because she's too afraid it will get lost.

Another source also claims that the couple, who began dating in 2010, are set to marry this spring in Qatar, in a wedding that will cost millions, with a ceremony that will undoubtedly be "a circus."

All this sounds quite impressive, but it also sounds very familiar. It turns out that rumors that the 46-year-old singer was engaged to Al Mana first surfaced in October, with the National Enquirer claiming that the couple were planning to spend $3 million to fly their 500 wedding guests in from all over the world, and Al Mana wants to give each guest a $10,000 Rolex watch as a thank you for attending.

Rumors that the two were planning to marry started soon after the couple began dating, and Jackson even went on "Good Morning America" in October 2010 to deny the reports:

"He is a very private man so i don't talk about our relationship. But it is really important that I just say this. They [media] have been trying to marry me off for a very very long time. No I am not engaged, I will say that. I am in a really good place," she said at the time.

So far, requests for comment made by The Huffington Post to Jackson's rep have not been returned, but it's worth noting that the singer has kept a marriage from the world before. In 1991, Jackson secretly married René Elizondo Jr. and didn't reveal they were married until he filed for divorce in 2000.

Magazine Used Dated Kourtney Kardashian Cover Photo

This week’s cover of Life & Style magazine features Kourtney Kardashian in a bikini, revealing how she got her figure back. However, the image accompanying the article is almost three years old, taken after the birth of Kardashian's first baby. If you want to see what the actress looks like in a bikini now, after baby No. 2, you will have to wait for next week's cover of Us Weekly to hit newsstands.

“That bikini shoot is almost 3 years old after my first baby. For the real reveal after baby #2 check out next week's issue of US ‪@usweekly!” Kardashian tweeted on Wednesday.

Weekly magazines have a long history of using misleading images to support headlines. Several wedding covers of Jennifer Aniston and Kristen Stewart used images of them wearing white dresses from movie sets. The most misleading might be an OK! cover from 2008 with the headline, "Britney Lost 15 Lbs. in Just 4 Weeks!" over an image of entertainer Britney Spears looking svelte in 2003.

“This cover is brilliant,” one magazine insider told The Huffington Post, referring to the Life & Style Kardashian issue. “Life & Style knew Kourtney was selling new images after her baby and knew Us Weekly had secured them. In order to ruin its competitor's exclusive, they went with their own weight loss cover this week. It’s genius. By the time the real [images] appear, it will feel like old news.”

Life & Style did not return calls for comment.

Cynthia Jorge, Tom Cruise Not Likely To Last If Tabloid Attention Continues

Is Cynthia Jorge, a 26-year-old Queens native and New York City restaurant manager, Tom Cruise's new girlfriend? That’s what the cover of In Touch magazine says. However, friends of Tom’s say after this cover, anything she might have had with Tom, is off.

The pair were spotted dancing at NYC’s Le Baron nightclub on Dec. 18, just two days after Tom met Cynthia after dining at Beauty & Essex, where she works.

“Cynthia used to work at Benjamin Steakhouse in Midtown before she got her job on the Lower East Side. And before that, she was a party promoter,” a friend of Cynthia’s tells The Huffington Post. “She has always liked press attention and wanted to be famous.”

In an interview from when she was working at the steakhouse, Cynthia said her favorite part of her job was "meeting new people, from CEOs to celebrities to just really interesting people in the industry. That and the food. I always say I’m so spoiled because every day I get to feast on some of the most amazing food in the city -- not to mention the best steak. I was a vegetarian for 10 years before starting to work with Benjamin’s, now I’ll never look back.”

However, it looks like all this attention will kill any chances of seeing much more of Tom. “He hates it when he thinks people leak stories about him to the press,” says one friend of the actor.

Inside Bethenny Frankel's Split

Earlier this week, Skinnygirl founder and Bravo reality star Bethenny Frankel tweeted to more than 1.1 million of her followers that she was "heartbroken" over her recent separation from husband of two-and-a-half years, Jason Hoppy.

Now, with the possibility of divorce looming, people have begun to speculate how the split will affect the estranged couple's 2½-year-old daughter, Bryn.

In a statement announcing the separation on December 23, Frankel said, "We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter who is and will always remain our first priority."

And an unnamed source close to the couple told In Touch magazine that "there will be no fighting" over custody of their daughter.

“This won’t be a drawn-out, nasty battle," the source said.

Although news of the Frankel-Hoppy separation saddened many, few were surprised by their breakup.

In a May 2012 interview with People magazine, the former New York City "Housewife" spoke candidly about the struggles she faced in her marriage.

"Money, family, gender roles, we just keep fighting over them," she told the magazine. "It's almost like a scab that you keep picking at."

If Frankel does end up filing for divorce from Hoppy, she would hardly be the first "Real Housewife" to do so. Click through the slides below for 35 other so-called "Bravolebrities" who called it quits with their husbands.

LOS ANGELES — Patrick Dempsey says he wants to rescue a coffee house chain and more than 500 jobs.

The "Grey's Anatomy" star said Wednesday he's leading a group attempting to buy Tully's Coffee. The Seattle-based company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October.

Dempsey said he's excited about the chance to help hundreds of workers and give back to Seattle.

The actor has a strong TV tie to the city: He plays Dr. Derek Shepherd on "Grey's Anatomy," the ABC drama set at fictional Seattle Grace Hospital.

Tully's has 47 company-run stores in Washington and California, as well as five franchised stores and 58 licensed locations in the U.S.

Any sale would have to be approved by a judge. A bankruptcy court hearing is set for Jan. 11 in Seattle.

Congratulations are in order! Kate Winslet married Ned Rocknroll in a secret wedding ceremony, according to Us Weekly.

The tabloid reports that Winslet and her 34-year-old now husband (Richard Branson's nephew) wed in early December in New York, saying "I do" at an intimate ceremony.

"I can confirm that Kate Winslet married Ned Rock'nRoll in NY earlier this month in a private ceremony attended by her two children and a very few friends and family," a spokesperson told the UK's Daily Mail. "The couple had been engaged since the summer."

We hope that third time's a charm for the "The Reader" actress. She was previously married to Jim Threapleton (1998 - 2001) -- with whom she has 12-year-old daughter, Mia -- and Sam Mendes (2003 - 2010) -- with whom she has 9-year-old son, Sam.

The 37-year-old is no stranger to secret weddings, either. She married Mendes on a Caribbean island in front of only 4 guests, according to the Daily Mail.

We wonder if Winslet's special day topped her November meeting of Queen Elizabeth II, who honored her with the prestigious CBE award for services to drama.

Steve Burton might not be done with daytime after all. According to TV Guide Magazine, the "General Hospital" veteran -- who recently concluded his storyline as hitman Jason Morgan -- has just booked a major role on "The Young and the Restless."

Sources tell TVGM that Burton will join the cast of the CBS soap soon, with details of his role yet to be revealed. If true, the gig will see Burton reunited with "GH" executive producer Jill Farren Phelps, who left the ABC soap in January 2012 and joined "Y&R" in July.

Burton quit "GH" in August after more than two decades on the soap, telling TV Guide, "I've been through 21 years of ups and downs with 'GH' -- regime changes, cast and crew changes, budget cuts, shakeups of one kind or another, and it's been nothing but a huge positive in my life and for my family. I have no complaints, no negative feelings at all. But it's time to go."

Daytime Confidential speculates that Burton will play Dylan, Avery's (Jessica Collins) "mysterious" ex on "Y&R," while TV Line reports that the actor will begin taping after the holiday break to debut during February sweeps. CBS has yet to confirm the news.

'Dance Moms' Season 3: Abby Lee Miller On 'Momagers,' Jealousy and Hissy Fits

Whether they're tuning in for the dance prodigies, the epic 'mom fights' or seeing feisty dance coach Abby Lee Miller lay down the law, people have become positively addicted to "Dance Moms."

The reality show about overzealous stage parents and their talented offspring is back for a third season, which premieres New Year's Day. "What a way to kick off the year, watching a bunch of moms fight with their dance teacher," says Miller. "It doesn't get any better than that!"

HuffPost TV Canada chatted with Miller to get her thoughts on everything from career-wrecking 'momagers' to what makes her want to "slit her wrists" to why she doesn't think you're ever too young to be on TV.

Why do you think people are so fascinated by "Dance Moms"?
I have no idea! I hope and pray it's the dancing. I hope it's not the moms fighting.

What do you think the secret to your own success as a dance coach has been?
Oh God, I don't know! [Laughs] I've been doing this for quite some time. I had a successful run before the television show. I have kids working on Broadway, I have kids in Tokyo, Vegas, LA, all successful, all working, all living a very nice lifestyle.

That's interesting. Some people may say dance is a fun hobby but it's not really a career...
Oh God, no, no, no. This is a career. There's a difference between just creating amazing dancers versus employable working dancers. There is a difference.

What are some of the biggest differences?
Well, it's a business. You have to be punctual. You have to have a great work ethic. You have to get along well with others. You have to remember and retain and comprehend the choreography quickly. You have to treat it like it's a job. It's not an after-school activity anymore.

It's interesting you mention that they need to be able to get along with others because we don't always see the moms getting along.
Nope! But the kids do.

Is that pretty typical of dance moms in general?
Well there's a lot of jealousy. I think any activity you have your kids in, you're all trying to live vicariously through them. And you're jealous of the kid that's naturally more talented or has the facility, the body, the genes or the God-given talent. People get jealous of that. And when you get jealousy, just think of it as a disease. They act out and they can't control themselves. I'm kind of the plot master, the puppeteer. I'm the one controlling things, making things happen and they don't like it. They want to be that person. Everybody wants to be me, what can I say? [Laughs]

What's the most ridiculous outburst you've ever seen from a mom throughout your career?
Oh my goodness, there's so many! I just think being jealous of the relationship between their daughter and I. Or moms thinking they can choreograph, 'momeographers.' Moms thinking they can manage their kids' careers. Mary Kate and Ashley [Olsen] have had the same manager since they were infants, and look, they're billionaires. And then you look at the other people whose mothers have taken over their careers and they remain nameless.

On the show, the moms are quite involved. Why do you allow them to be so involved? Do you ever want to tell them to go away?
Absolutely! But the TV show is called "Dance Moms." It was supposed to be about the moms, that was the format of the show. The kids were very minimal, and I was just an on-stage choreographer, I wasn't even on the show. So people ask if the show's scripted and if it's it real. Absolutely it's real. The only huge difference in my life is I don't travel with any moms. I've never brought moms along on any trip we've ever gone on. But because of the television show, it's part of the show. By all means, I tell them to stay out!

Do you think you would still be a dance coach today if you had to travel with moms all the time?
No! I would have slit my wrists years ago.

What's your biggest pet peeve about overzealous dance moms?
Usually the ones with the biggest mouths and the strongest opinions are the worst-paying customers.

Why do you think that is?
Who knows? They can barely pay their bills and they're in there telling me how to do my job.

Even now that you've seen it all, do the outbursts by the moms ever get to you?
They always get to me! Of course. They get to me because they don't know what they're talking about! Some of them can count on one hand how many Broadway shows they've seen. Talk to me, talk to a kid who went to New York how many times and saw a show Friday night, Saturday matinee, Saturday night, Sunday and then went home. I have other kids in my studio that are avid theatergoers, and families that spend $5,000 in a weekend seeing shows. And then you have the moms on the show who are drinking their wine out of a cardboard box and they have never seen a show.

I love that the group has this nemesis of sorts in the form of Cathy. What's the funniest thing Cathy has ever done?
Yeah, she's goofy. I don't think she's really funny. I'm kind of angry with the whole thing because she gets to create her own team. I didn't pick the kids on the show. They've all been in my studio since they were two and a half or three years old. That's non-disputable. But maybe they wouldn't have been the kids that I chose. Maybe I would have switched it up a bit. Who knows? I think the kids are great, and they've been doing a wonderful job and they all get along well, but I also have 13, 14, 17-year-olds that are amazing and should be dancing on national television every week.

How has your life changed since you've become a TV star?
It takes me about two hours to run into Target. People always want a picture. They hem and haw and they can't spit the words out so they waste about five minutes of my time just standing there getting ready for a picture. Just do it! But stalking me all over the mall, that's weird.

We're seeing a lot more shows these days with younger stars. What do you think is too young to be on TV?
Oh man, I don't think you're ever too young. If I could have worked from the time I was born until I was 18 and never had to work again, I would have done it.

Season 3 of "Dance Moms" premieres on Lifetime and Lifetime Canada on Tuesday, January 1st at 9 p.m. EST/PST.

The Lumineers Are Trying Not To Worry About The Grammys

$

0

"Baffling” is the word Jeremiah Fraites uses to describe The Lumineers’ positive reception on their 12-city European tour that ended last month. That humility is a common trait among Fraites and bandmates Wesley Schultz and Neyla Pekarek, despite having just received two Grammy nominations (Best New Artist and Best Americana Album) for their eponymous debut studio LP.

The Denver-based folk-rock group is on the first leg of a winter tour, opening for the Dave Matthews Band in four cities, and slated to perform on the first "Saturday Night Live" episode of the new year (Jan. 13, 2013).

But The Lumineers’ apparent overnight success was actually a long road with quite a few speed bumps. While touring in 2010, their van was broken into and all of their instruments were stolen just before a show. Undeterred, The Lumineers finished their tour; they borrowed instruments and recalled having to deal with “creeps who had cellos” in every city. Fraites said they had one of their best performances ever immediately after reporting the robbery, and Schultz added that the lyrics to the group's song "Slow it Down" have evolved into reflecting the incident. The line “smashed in my car window, didn’t touch the stereo” is a fitting metaphor for the fact that though their instruments were stolen, their music didn’t stop.

This care-free enthusiasm and small-town vibe has struck a nerve with the band's devoted fan base. When the venue of a recent concert filled to capacity, The Lumineers went outside and played in the parking lot for those who got turned away. Schultz never fails to thank the audience for showing up, reminding fans that a few years ago, they couldn't pay people to listen to their music.

HuffPost Entertainment spoke to The Lumineers in advance of their recent performance at iHeartRadio's New York theater about the band's Grammy nominations and their reaction to artists like Grizzly Bear and Justin Vernon, of Bon Iver, who recently disparaged the awards. They also discussed working on a second album, touring with Dave Matthews, their unreleased music video for ‘Stubborn Love” and Fraites’ trademark suspenders.

While on tour with Dave Matthews, what’s your interaction been like with the band?
Fraites: It’s been really cool. He’s been, for me, demystified as a celebrity and as a super icon in the sense that, he’s really cool, you can tell he’s a normal guy that broke big with huge success. He actually comes out and introduces us. I guess Dave Matthews Band had some bad experiences when they opened for some really big bands like Dylan and the Rolling Stones and the crowds were really unruly to them. So, I think, by Dave, himself coming out and introducing The Lumineers, gives us credibility already to the people that are there. 'Cause they’re huge arenas and we’re going on first, and it’ll be half-empty when we start. And maybe 5,000 to 8,000 more people shuffle in. But I think that definitely helps the crowd enjoy us more.

What was the filming process like for "Stubborn Love," and how will the video compare to "Ho Hey"?
Pekarek: Yea, we were only in it for a second, which is nice, because we’re so busy. Not that we weren’t involved, but our friend Isaac Ravishankara, he’s making it. It’s a really great concept, we saw just some shots of it – it’s really warm lighting. There’s a little girl in the video, named Tallulah, she’s absolutely beautiful. We filmed our portion of it in L.A. a couple weeks ago, just kind of busking on the street. ‘Ho Hey’ was a full day of filming, 16 hours and we’re in the shots a lot. So, it was nice to have a video that didn’t just feature us.

How were you received by audiences on your European tour?
Fraites: It seems to be going just as well over there, as it is over here, which is kind of baffling.

Why is it baffling?
Fraites: Well, I don’t know. [Laughs] It’s just crazy that it’s gotten this big.

Schultz: Well we set it up here for a long time here, y’know? We were playing a lot of these cities before anything happened. Where as there, we just step into a new country. There’s no connection there [Europe]. Where as, if you go to Portland a bunch of times and you know all these venues, it almost makes sense, even though it some ways it explodes. At least you’ve visited it. I think in that way, it is baffling for sure.

A year or two ago, you played in local bars for free, and now you have two Grammy nominations. Do you feel any challenges or expectations you need to fill?
Pekarek: No, I don’t think we play the shows all that different now than we did then. We were really passionate about what we did then, and we feel the same now. It’s people’s first time seeing us in a lot of those places, and you don’t want to disappoint anybody.

But in terms of making another record, do you feel you need to outdo your first album?
Fraites: It’s crippling. It’s crippling. We can’t sleep at night. [Laughs] No, there’s a lot of time. I think we can take our time. Luckily the people who have really helped guide this band have preached a lot of smart things to us and one of the things was just to get into a short term deal, so we’re not under any time constraints to put out another record. We can do it completely on our own terms. I think that helps a lot, it’s really hard when you have someone breathing down your neck saying, “We need another single, we need the album done.” We don’t have to deal with that, which was a smart thing to do ahead of time.

Are part of the lyrics to "Slow it Down" about your instruments being stolen?
Schultz: Well, no actually not. It’s kind of evolved into that. There’s a beautiful thing about music, where the lyrics can change meaning for you, even as a songwriter. It took on a new meaning. Originally it was just that somebody broke into a car I had in Brooklyn and they stole my E-ZPass. Smashed my window just for an E-ZPass. It was the dead of winter, I drove back to New Jersey to practice with Jer or record or something. It began as that, and we got robbed about a year and change ago in L.A. in broad daylight. And we were able to continue that tour that night and the rest of it – a little over two weeks of the tour we had left. Everybody just lent us instruments, and lent us a hand basically the whole way through. I mean, every city we went to, we had to find a new cello. We had to deal with creeps that had cellos. [Laughs]

Fraites: I think it was cool, that line “smashed in my car window didn’t touch the stereo,” was kind of this fitting metaphor – you didn’t touch the stereo, sort of, you didn’t steal the music. When we got instruments stolen in Los Angeles, we drove to the LAPD and then we literally drove from there to a house show and played probably one of the best shows we’ve ever played, on borrowed stuff. And it just reminded us of why we do it.

Grizzly Bear expressed some angst about not being nominated for a Grammy and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver basically said he hates the awards. Does that cause you to have any reservations about the nominations?
Fraites: For me, if we win, I don’t want to do anything different. And if we lose, I don’t want to feel sad about it. I want to try to maintain a personal kind of barometer or compass and know our own value. If we win, that would be amazing, but if we don’t win, I don’t want to feel like, this was all for nothing. It’s been a great year, we still have a great album and we still have a lot more music to write. I don’t want to get too effected by the whole process, if I can. But talk is cheap, so. We’ll see what happens.

What’s with the suspenders?
Fraites: When I was in high school, my friend’s brother asked him when you go on stage,' what kind of superhero are you?' I had never really played music that much, so I decided to create my own little uh ...

Your own little superhero outfit?
Fraites: Yeah, outfit, yeah. [Laughs]
