Louis Virtel: Weeklings!: Worst Celebrity Couples Ever (VIDEO)

$

I like "Rude Boy" and "Don't Stop the Music" as much as the next decent human being, but Rihanna's recently tweeted photo with Chris Brown got me thinking: Some celebrity couples are just bad news. In fact, a lot of them are!

In this edition of Weeklings!, I explore the history of celebrity couples and point out which ones are my least favorite. I even pick a worst. Feel free to fight me, but as usual, I think you'll find that my logic is irrefutable -- or else too spastic and asthmatic to be argued. Warning: I am very mad at Ryan Reynolds.

WATCH: From 'Jersey Shore' Madness To West Virginia Mud In MTV's 'Buckwild'

As MTV closes the door on one rowdy bunch of friends who make questionable life choices, they welcome another group into our homes. Premiering January 3 at 10 p.m. EST, "Buckwild" follows a group of nine rebellious twenty-somethings living in West Virginia. After its hourlong season premiere, the half-hour, 12-episode series will air two back-to-back new episodes each week from 10 p.m. EST.

Check out a trailer for the new series:

MTV has released a description of the nine stars of "Buckwild," so you can familiarize yourself with the crew before the season premiere. Will they prove as ... memorable as the "Jersey Shore" gang? Only time will tell.

Shain: Everyone in Sissonville, W. Va. knows Shain. Sociable and loyal, he was the high school Prom King, but missed the dance because he had to work. He’s done every job from coal mining to being a garbage man but as long as he is using his hands, he’s happy. He loves mudding, hunting and four-wheeling but most of all he loves his parents, who live three doors down.

Shae: Around town, Shae is known as the Southern belle. She’s been chased after by every eligible bachelor in Sissonville but somehow always ends up with the bad boy. Currently a nursing student, this college girl is also a country girl through and through. In fact, her first kiss was on the back of a four-wheeler.

Anna: Even though she comes from the ritzier part of town, Anna would rather spend her time getting dirty with the crew down in the creeks and hollers. She’s a true wild child at heart who finds herself at a crossroads in life trying to decide between work and school. One thing is for certain: Anna isn’t afraid to stand up for herself.

Joey: Shain and Joey have been best friends since they could walk. Once they learned how to ride a bike, it’s been bumps, bruises and hospital visits for these adrenaline junkies. With his Justin Bieber haircut and laid-back country attitude, Joey thinks he’s the biggest ladies man in town.

Ashley: Wild and carefree, Ashley is known for being one of the guys. She’d rather get down and dirty in the mud than deal with local drama – although she doesn’t mind starting it. She’s the bravest and most honest of her friends, but always the one to stir the pot.

Cara: Originally hailing from Morgantown, the biggest college town in West Virginia, Cara had seen her fair share of the club and bar scene. But when the drama of having an ex in the same town became too much, she decided to escape back to her Sissonville friends to get her mind straight.

Tyler: Known for his innocent good looks, Tyler has a reputation for leaving a trail of broke hearts all over town. He recently finished up another semester in college but the flexible schedule of working at his dad’s company sometimes seems more enticing. Recently Shain and Joey have taken Tyler under their wing on a mission to make him less of a pretty boy and more of a country man.

Katie: A well-rounded college girl, Katie loves to spend her free time away from school, back with her friends in Sissonville. She is afraid of anything potentially dangerous, which means the gang loves to push her to her limit whenever they can.

Salwa: A recent college graduate, Salwa lives at home with her strict parents. Whenever she’s able to slip away, she’s the first one at the party. The oldest of the group, Salwa is always down for a good time and everyone loves her “tell it like it is” attitude.

"Buckwild" premieres Thursday, January 3 at 10 p.m. EST on MTV. Will you watch?

What's Going On, Billie Joe?

Billie Joe Armstrong is making some big changes after his frightening and violent rant at the I Heart Radio concert in Las Vegas last September.

Besides tackling substance abuse issues in rehab, the Green Day frontman and candidate for this year's best profanity-laced tirade has decided to place his adorable little cottage in Newport Beach, Calif. on the market for $1.895 million.

Armstrong bought the vacation home back in 2006, and the listing notes it was rebuilt "from the studs up" a year later. The home now boasts three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, high-end kitchen appliances and a back patio outfitted with an outdoor shower.

While the home may be humble for a Grammy award-winning musician, it's located in the exclusive Peninsula Point neighborhood and less than a block away from the beach. Real estate blogger Real Estalker, who first reported the news, notes that old tax records show the home once spanned 924 square feet of living space, but listing photos indicate the property is bigger now.

Armstrong hails from Northern California, where he has a home base in Piedmont. Currently, Armstrong is "in the middle of some really big things" in rehab, bandmate Mike Dirnt said to Kerrang! magazine. While Armstrong continues to heal, the band has had to cancel several performances, including a headlining gig at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience festival in New Orleans.

"It's killing everyone," continued Dirnt. "Green Day has never been a band that sits still, but sometimes you have to step back and let life go on rather than try to control everything."

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Glen Campbell may be wrapping up a goodbye tour but that doesn't mean he's done with the stage.

Campbell is considering scheduling more shows next year after playing more than 120 dates in 2012.

The 76-year-old singer has Alzheimer's disease and has begun to lose his memory. He put out his final studio album, "Ghost on the Canvas," in 2011 and embarked on the tour with family members and close friends serving in his band and staffing the tour.

Campbell's longtime manager Stan Schneider said in a phone interview from Napa, Calif., where the tour wrapped for the year Friday night, that recent West Coast shows have been some of the singer's strongest. Campbell will break for the holidays and if he still feels strong he'll begin scheduling more shows.

Why Ricky Martin Wants To Come Out -- Again

$

0

His sizzling turn in Broadway's "Evita" may earn him a nightly standing ovation, but as he enters his dressing room at New York's Marquis Theater, Ricky Martin is the casual antithesis of the bon-bon-shaking superstar who sang about "livin' la vida loca."

Despite his calm demeanor less than two hours before hitting the stage, Martin is now working at a pace that recalls his late 1990s heyday, and anyone concerned that the Latin crooner would regret declaring himself a "fortunate homosexual man" in 2010 would be happy to know that the risk appears to have paid off. Though he'll depart "Evita" in January, Martin is set to mentor a new generation of hopeful stars on the Australian version of "The Voice" early next year, and recently inked a deal with NBC to develop his own television series, which he simply describes as a "dramedy."

"If I knew how good it would feel, I would have done it a long time ago," Martin recalls of his coming out experience. "Sometimes I'm like, 'Can I come out again?' because it really felt amazing…I had no idea what the reaction was going to be; I just did it because I needed to feel free and happy. It's been beautiful."

But Martin's passions have always extended beyond performance art, and as the current spokesperson for Viva Glam, he's helping to raise millions for the MAC AIDS Fund through sales of his MAC Cosmetics lip conditioner line. On the eve of World AIDS Day, Martin says he considers global prevention of HIV/AIDS a responsibility that he takes very seriously.

"It's really sad when people say, 'Yeah, that's an issue for gays,' because it's not only the gay community that's struggling with AIDS -- it's [heterosexual] men, women and children, too," he says. Describing his earlier philanthropic work in preventing human trafficking as being very much interconnected to HIV/AIDS awareness, he added, "For many years I did it quietly, because I had this conception people might think I was doing it for recognition, until I talked to real activists who told me, 'Dude, you need to talk about this, because people listen.'"

If the framed photograph of him with President Barack Obama that rests on his dressing room table is any indication, Martin is certainly pleased with the U.S. election results.

"The re-election of our president was, for me, nothing but light," Martin, who hosted an Obama fundraiser in May and stood beside first lady Michelle Obama at a Florida rally in November, explains. "If we went the other way, it was going to be like going back in time. As a Latino Puerto Rican U.S. citizen that can vote for the president, it was very beautiful to see minorities getting together for democracy, for freedom, for civil rights."

He then concluded, "What he's done for the LGBT community…really is beautiful. It's historical to have a president saying, 'Marriage equality…let's move this forward!"

On Dec. 1, MAC Cosmetics will mark World AIDS Day by doubling its donations to the MAC AIDS Fund by matching the sale of Viva Glam products including Ricky's lip conditioner. For more information, click here.

Hayden Panettiere was involved in a car crash in Nashville, Tenn., earlier this month, TMZ reports.

On Nov. 14, Panettiere's BMW collided with a Geo Prizm after she ran a red light through an intersection.

According to a report obtained by TMZ, the "Nashville" star, 23, was driving in the right lane through the intersection when the other driver made a left turn into her lane -- instead of into the left lane.

A witness confirmed to authorities that Panettiere had a red light at the time of the incident.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene, but thankfully, no one was seriously injured.

"Thank you to the Nashville police department," Panettiere tweeted, "Was in a scary accident and they were great!"

PHOTOS: Ciara's Leather Dress Exposes A Little Too Much

By now, you all know HuffPost Style's stance on wearing leather looks: proceed with caution.

While stars like Emma Stone can pull off a red leather dress with aplomb, celebs like Kim Kardashian have made more than a few errors when it comes to the tricky fabric (see: Kim's leather legging mishap). The latest star to test drive a leather ensemble? Pop star Ciara.

To attend the Billboard Women In Music luncheon in New York yesterday, the singer wore a Cindy Crawford-esque leather dress. Even though the temperatures dipped down into the 40s, she opted to go without a coat to make her big entrance in the skintight number.

And just when we thought Ciara managed to nail the tricky look, we noticed that she seemed to be exposing... well, a little too much. Let's just say that it might have been a good idea to wear a bra.

Check out the photos of Ciara in leather and tell us what you think. Is this a fashion fail?

Happy Birthday, Bette Midler!

Happy 67th birthday to the Divine Miss M!

This two-time Golden Globe Award winner was born in Honolulu, Hawaii where she took an interest in acting and singing at a young age. After landing a few small roles in the television series "The Edge Of Night" and studying drama at the University of Hawaii in Manoa, she made her first big-screen debut as an uncredited extra in the 1966 movie "Hawaii." The money she made as an extra provided her with the finances to move to New York City and start her professional career.

Though Midler was cast in a Broadway production of “Fidler On The Roof” soon after moving to New York, it was her gig performing at The Continental Baths, a well-known gay bathhouse, that allowed her to hone her onstage persona. She wasn’t the only celebrity who got her start there either: She was often accompanied by a then little-known pianist named Barry Manilow.

Her bathhouse fame helped her land a record deal, which put her on the path to becoming the singing/acting/comedienne power house as we know today. Her first album "The Divine Miss M" earned her the 1973 Best New Artist Grammy, and by the end of the decade she would record two more albums, return to Broadway and star in three movies, including 1979’s “The Rose.”

Her star profile rose in the 80s and 90s as she starred in blockbuster hits such as “Beaches” in 1998, “For The Boys” in 1991 and “First Wives Club” in 1996. She starred in her own television sitcom, “Bette" (2000-2001), which earned her a slew of awards, such as a Golden Globe. These days, Midler has been working on her upcoming film “Parental Guidance,” where she and Billy Crystal play babysitting grandparents.

Midler has had great success in her personal life as well. She has been with her husband Martin von Haselberg since 1984, and together they have raised a daughter. Midler is also a committed philanthropist and ardently supports non-profits like the New York City Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City.

Now that Midler is 67, is it likely that she will slow down her monster career? It doesn’t seem so. In 2008, she told The Daily Mail:

"It's ... a tradition to do good work up until the day you decide it's time to leave. Picasso worked until the day he died. Why aren't popular artists the same? Why are they so skimpy with their gifts?"

We're glad Midler hasn't kept her gifts to herself. Happy birthday!

Jessica Biel's Favorite Seven-Letter Word

Jessica Biel can't stop gazing at her husband.

The newlywed, 30, who tied the knot with Justin Timberlake in October, is loving married life, telling Ellen DeGeneres, "It just feels incredible."

"It feels like you have this partner who is going to be with you and also change light bulbs and do dishes with you," Biel explains to DeGeneres in an interview airing Dec. 3 on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

But Biel's favorite part about getting hitched lies in a simple seven-letter word, which she finds herself mumbling constantly.

"It's weird because it feels like almost nothing has changed, yet something that you can't really describe, or something that isn't tangible has changed," the "Hitchcock" star continues, adding, "The weirdest and kind of most wonderful thing is that word ... That's my husband."

"That's the word," she gushes, "and every time I say it, I go really Southern with it. 'Oh, that's my husband. That's him over there.' I touch my hair and I completely go like I'm from the South or something. It's weird."

Forget Bieber fever, Biel's got a case of the Timberlakes.

WATCH: Charlie Sheen Gets Berated In 'A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III'

Charlie Sheen is officially back -- but is he better than ever?

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming film, "A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III."

Set in the 1970s, the dramedy stars Sheen as a ladies' man who gets his heart broken by his latest fling. Produced by The Directors Bureau, the film was written and directed by Roman Coppola ("Moonrise Kingdom").

Adding to the star power of "A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III," former "Rushmore" co-stars Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman play Sheen's sidekick friends in the film. The preview (shown above) features Sheen, Murray, and Schwartzman getting into a variety of shenanigans, such as feuding with women dressed in tribal clothing cowboys-and-Indians style and getting down on a hot dog couch.

An early review from Movieline described the film as "more of a doodle than a fully formed idea, though not necessarily less enjoyable for it, since it was clearly intended to be an undisciplined, anything-goes kinda story."

"A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III" hits theaters Feb. 8, 2013.

John Slattery Directing 'Mad Men' Episodes For Season 6

John Slattery is giving "Mad Men" everything he's got on, and off-screen.

The Emmy-nominated actor, who plays ad executive Roger Sterling on the AMC drama, has revealed that he will be directing two episodes for Season 6.

AMC has confirmed the news, with Slattery shooting his first episode in February -- though he'll be working on it far in advance.

"It takes a lot more time," to direct an episode than to act in one, he told The Hollywood Reporter. "You have a hand in the whole thing, and each one takes about a month, from a directorial standpoint. From the time you get the script to the time you turn your cut in, it’s a month. And it’s a long month."

The 50-year-old actor, who directed three episodes of "Mad Men" in the past, including Season 5's "Signal 30," will work alongside creator Matthew Weiner in order to keep the plot line a secret.

"You get [the script] a little in advance of when the actors get it, but only for the necessity of preproduction," Slatter explained. "And they used to try -- and they still do try -- to limit the amount you’re [acting] in it, but I think we’ve all kind of gotten a grip on what that’s like, so they don’t have to make as much of an effort. And so, yeah, you get what you get. Especially with us."

"Jon Hamm is directing as well, so we’re there," he added. "So our schedules are kind of easier for them to figure out because the other directors come in and out."

Season 6 of "Mad Men" kicks off next year.

Kim K's Visit To Bahrain Sparks Controversy

MANAMA, Bahrain — Just hours after reality TV star Kim Kardashian gushed about her impressions of Bahrain, riot police fired tear gas to disperse more than 50 hardline Islamic protesters denouncing her presence in the Gulf kingdom.

The clashes took place just before Kardashian opened the Bahrain branch of her Millions of Milkshakes shop.

An Associated Press journalist saw protesters chanting "God is Great" near the shopping complex in Riffa, some 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of the capital Manama. The demonstrators were cleared before Kardashian appeared late Saturday.

Earlier, she posted glowing remarks about Bahrain on her Twitter account, calling it "the prettiest place on earth." It was re-Tweeted by Bahrain's foreign minister.

Kardashian was in Kuwait earlier this week to open another branch of the shop.

Hugh Hefner, Crystal Harris Getting Married Again

Sounds like these exes are giving their love another shot.

According to TMZ, Hugh Hefner, 86, and Crystal Harris, 26, are engaged again after Harris called off their first wedding in June 2011. The couple is set to tie the knot at the Playboy mansion on New Year's Eve -- and don't expect Harris to be a runaway bride twice.

The Playboy bunny, who got cold feet just five days before their 2011 nuptials, is reportedly ready to make it official with Hef after rekindling their romance earlier this year. Sources tell TMZ that Harris and Hef are better than ever, since Harris moved back into the Playboy Mansion. The two have allegedly worked out their problems and are ready to give marriage another go.

"For a while, I'd been having second thoughts about everything, so I haven't really been at peace with myself lately," Harris told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show (via People) of her decision to cancel their first wedding. "It was all just happening too fast for me. I just sat back and thought about it all," she continued. "Is this what I wanted? And it wasn't."

But now insiders say Harris learned how to be independent and stand on her own two feet while spending time away from Hef.

Apparently the wedding will be intimate and Harris and Hef will say their vows in front of close friends and family.

Carla Bruni Apologizes For Feminism Remarks

Après Carla Bruni, le déluge. Or at least that's what happened when the former French first lady was quoted in the latest issue of Paris Vogue saying, "My generation doesn't need feminism." Cue the backlash.

In a swift response, French women’s-rights group "Osez le Féminisme!" ("Dare To Be A Feminist"), sent a call out to Twitter, asking followers to tweet why feminism is needed using the hashtag #ChereCarlaBruni (#DearCarlaBruni). We're sure the ensuing barrage of responses made Carla think twice about her statements.

French female senator Laurence Rossignol sent out a particularly noteworthy response to the call, replying in a tweet that translates to, "#ChèreCarlaBruni As long as I get asked whether I am the senator's assistant, the next generation will need feminism."

So, naturally, when Elle.fr spoke to the former supermodel during a phone interview, conversation turned to the pink elephant in the room: any second thoughts, Carla? Well, yes, actually. The supermodel claims that she "completely understands" the negative response, but her words were taken "out of context":

"This phrase is very clumsy and poorly translates my thoughts. It should have read: 'I have never personally felt the need to be a feminist activist'... I imagine I am [a feminist] if feminism means claiming one's freedom. But I am not if it means being committed in an active way to the fight that some women are still leading today... I admire their bravery a lot, but I have chosen to commit myself elsewhere."

During her time as première dame, Carla took on AIDS activism as her main philanthropic cause (though her charity did face a misconduct allegation earlier this year). But, overall, she was well-received during Nicolas Sarkozy's time as president, so this latest controversy has people drawing comparisons with the current polarizing first lady Valerie "The Rottweiler" Trierweiler -- she faced her own Twitter backlash last summer. So perhaps it's Valerie's turn to give Carla some advice?

What do you think of Carla Bruni-Sarkozy's retraction? Was the whole thing blown out of proportion?

See Carla Bruni's style since the arrival of baby Giulia.

Congratulations go out to Mario Lopez!

The "X Factor" host, 39, married his girlfriend of four years, Courtney Mazza, 29, on Dec. 1 in a beach wedding in Punta Minto, Mexico, Extra confirms.

The couple's nuptials, which will air on TLC Dec. 8, brought out family and close friends, including Lopez's buddy Eva Longoria. Lopez was escorted down the aisle by his mother and later joined by his beautiful bride as they exchanged personal vows just before sunset at the seaside estate of "Girls Gone Wild" creator Joe Francis.

And to add to the occasion, Lopez and Mazza's 2-year-old daughter Gia served as flower girl, wearing a dress that matched her mom's Ines di Santo gown. The reception kicked off with a little help from a mariachi band before guests enjoyed a wedding cake with a winter-wonderland-meets-beach theme by "Cake Boss" star Buddy Valastro.

Lopez and Mazza first met when they shared the Broadway stage in the 2006 revival of “A Chorus Line” and began dating in 2008. They got engaged on December 31, 2011, during a vacation in Ixtapa, Mexico.

"The only thing that's going to change is my last name," Mazza told Us Weekly of marrying Lopez. "Same love, same everything!"

This is the first trip down the aisle for Mazza and the second for Lopez, whose 2004 marriage to model and actress Ali Landry was annulled.
