11 Reasons 'Community' Should Kill Off Chevy Chase's Character

0
0

"Community" really can't catch a break lately. The cult favorite NBC comedy has been bumped from NBC's schedule yet again. And Friday, adding insult to injury, Chevy Chase created another controversy by dropping the N-word during his latest on-set diatribe.

Chase was reportedly upset about the even darker turn his character Pierce Hawthorne was taking in the would-be fourth season. But at this point, after all the off-camera drama Chase has brought "Community" already -- from his feud with the show's creator and former showrunner Dan Harmon, to his continued assertions that he doesn't think the show is funny, to this latest fiasco -- wouldn't it make sense for the show's writers to just kill off Pierce altogether?

Played-out characters and diva actors get killed off TV dramas all the time, so who says it can't happen in a network comedy?

Click through the slideshow below for 11 reasons why killing off Pierce Hawthorne would be great for "Community," and leave your own reasons in the comments.

Stars Skip Red Carpet At Lance Armstrong Benefit

Just days before Lance Armstrong was stripped of all seven Tour de France titles and banned from the sport of cycling for life over doping allegations, the cyclist hosted his annual Livestrong cancer benefit in Austin, Texas. Unlike previous years, when the red carpet was packed with his celebrity friends, only pal Sean Penn showed up and talked to the press.

“It was shocking that Robin Williams and Norah Jones skipped the red carpet and entered through the back door,” one celebrity watcher tells me. “Plus, where was Matthew McConaughey? These two used to be very close friends, and he even lives in Austin.”

Not a single image of Armstrong and any of the aforementioned guests at the event has been released. In the past, the Livestrong benefit received the support of many celebrities, including Halle Berry, Matt Damon, Hilary Duff, Michael Jordan, Jay Leno, Will Smith, Sharon Stone and Mark Wahlberg.

EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW: Lily Munster & Grandpa Arrive Home To 'Mockingbird Lane'

"Mockingbird Lane," Bryan Fuller's reimagining of "The Munsters," features your favorite scary family ... with a few Fuller-esque tweaks.

In the exclusive sneak peek above, Lily Munster (Portia de Rossi) and Grandpa (Eddie Izzard) arrive at their new home on Mockingbird Lane, but not by a typical means of transportation. Yes, Portia de Rossi can even make arriving in a crate look stylish.

"It's gorgeous, every frame is sumptuous," Fuller told TV Guide. "You get to have these really interesting actors coming in and taking their spins on these classic characters. I love the original 'Munsters' and didn't want to step on it in any way of putting people in Frankenstein makeup and Dracula makeup. So we went our own direction."

"The Munsters" reboot also stars Jerry O’Connell as Herman Munster, Mason Cook as Eddie and Charity Wakefield as Marilyn.

"Mockingbird Lane" is set to scare audiences on Friday, October 26, at 8 p.m. ET as a special Halloween movie. However, the pilot could still become a series. Here's how NBC describes the Halloween special:

Buying a house these days is a nightmare, so Herman and Lily are shocked that no one scooped up the rambling Victorian mansion at 1313 Mockingbird Lane that was the site of a series of grisly hobo murders. Settling into their new place, they’re quickly onto the mission at hand: to gently ease Eddie into the reality of his werewolf adolescence. But it’s not always so easy to accept that your child is a little “different” from the rest of the kids. Meanwhile, Herman, who works as a funeral director, is suffering from a heart condition. Since he’s made up mostly of spare parts, he knew his makeshift heart would eventually give out. No worries though, because Grandpa, who is pretty good at procuring body parts, is on the case. All Herman cares about is finding a new heart with the same capacity to love Lily as much as he has for so many decades.

Does Ben Whishaw Understand 'Cloud Atlas'?

0
0

Ben Whishaw is about to get really busy. The 32-year-old British actor plays not one, but six roles in "Cloud Atlas," inhabiting everyone from a cabin boy in the 19th century to a record store clerk in the 1970s to one of the film's main characters: Robert Frobisher, a young composer with designs on writing one of the most memorable compositions of the 20th century.

Two weeks later, audiences can catch Whishaw playing Q in Sam Mendes' highly anticipated "Skyfall." As it that weren't enough, he's also rumored to play one of the leads in Steven Spielberg's "Robopocalypse," alongside Chris Hemsworth and perhaps even Anne Hathaway. Not bad for an actor who only really started to break out eight years ago in the crime thriller "Layer Cake."

Whishaw spoke to HuffPost Entertainment about what it was like to make "Cloud Atlas," if he understands the film as structured, and how he wound up giving gadget advice to James Bond.

What was it that got you involved with "Cloud Atlas"?
I got involved because of [director] Tom Tykwer, really. He mentioned the project to me about three years before we started doing it. He said there would be a part for me if they ever managed to get the funding, which he was not certain of [laughs]. Two years ago, he sent me the script and said, "Email me what you make of this." I was kind of blown away. I read it in one sitting -- it took me about four hours to read, but I was not able to put it down. Which is pretty rare for me with scripts. I find them genuinely quite hard to read, but this sucked me in. I knew that even though I felt like I understood only a fraction of it that I wanted to do it.

Do you understand it any better now that you've seen the finished film?
I feel like I understand. I get different things each time I see it. I've been trying the last three days to give concise and intelligent answers. Every time I start thinking about it, though, I make another connection, or I question what I had previously thought the film was about. It's constantly changing. I've never had that experience with a film I've been in before. I think that says something about how unusual and rare it is. That's one of the great things about the Wachowskis' films and about Tom's films: They don't draw a line. They don't say, "This is very serious and therefore it must be slightly boring, heavy and punishing." It's not a punishing to watch at all. It wants to invite you to come along on the journey, even though the journey is a strange one. I think it's accessible, and very playful and very fun. There's great action sequences, fantastic comedy; it hits all those genres so well, while still magically being one coherent piece of work. I don't know how they've done that.

How did they do it? What was filming this like, with the multiple sets and directors and genres?
The Wachowskis had a set, Tom had a set, and the actors were ferried from one to another as they were needed. I very rarely saw Tom and the Wachowskis together, but you just knew they spent hours bonding and honing this material. I think the material came about because of a very deep friendship that already existed between the three of them. I'm sure it has only gotten richer, and has certainly been tested in ways that it hadn't been before in the making of this film.

Your main character is Robert Frobisher, but you still appear as five other people throughout the film. How do you handle that as an actor?
My workload was not as difficult in that respect as other people. They were doing some schizophrenic stuff. I really had one big story and some lovely little supporting characters, which had to be as real as possible and sit within each story in a believable way. It was more fun than anything else. It was like dressing up, really. Like being a child again. What's been fantastic about "Cloud Atlas" is it was an opportunity to do the sort of acting that I always dreamed about doing, but very rarely get the chance to, which is a total transformation. A physical transformation. Which I think used to happen far more in acting, but it's become a bit unfashionable for actors to do that. But I love putting on a fake nose and a funny wig and that used to be what acting was like 50 years ago. Those great British actors did that all the time.

The relationship Robert has with Rufus Sixsmith needs to resonate throughout the entire story, but you only have a few moments to set it up in the film. Did you and James D'Arcy have a lot of rehearsal time together?
To be completely honest to you, that is one of the real surprises to the film to me. I had no idea that story would feel that way in the end result. That was a total surprise. James and I didn't get to rehearse at all, but James is the most wonderful guy. He's so much fun. He's such a generous actor, such a beautiful actor. He made it very easy to immediately go into this relationship without having any time at all to discuss or rehearse. Sometimes you can jump into things and you tap into your intuition, which can be better than weeks of preparation. Sometimes you're just blessed with that.

You also play Q in "Skyfall." How did that all come about?
I had spoken with Sam Mendes, maybe two years ago, about working with him on a play. It ended up not happening. He asked to see me again, and we went and had dinner. I thought he was going to ask me to do another play, but he said he was doing this Bond film. It was just utterly out of the blue and unexpected. I'm delighted to be involved in it. It's really something completely new for me. I'm excited to see where the character is going to evolve to.

Selena Gomez Staying With Justin Bieber Only Because It's 'Good For Her Brand'

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have been dating for more than a year, but there's reportedly trouble in paradise for the teen power couple.

According to RadarOnline, the couple are on the verge of breaking up all the time, as "jealousy is killing the relationship."

A source tells the website that both stars have jealous tendencies that cause many petty arguments. Despite the fighting, Bieber is still head over heels for Gomez, 20, as she's his first love and "he can't even imagine being without her."

In fact, Bieber has been opening up about his love for Gomez more than ever before.

"I never make [Selena] separate from me because I don’t want her to ever feel like I’m ashamed of her. Because I feel like a lot of guys do that, especially in the business. They don’t want to be seen with the girl, so they’ll make them ride in separate cars. They’ll do that ‘get away’ stuff. [Selena and I] get away where … you know … getting away together,” he explained to Oprah Winfrey in a preview of his "Oprah’s Next Chapter" interview.

The same can't be said for Gomez. RadarOnline's sources claim the former "Wizards of Waverly Place" star is now staying with Bieber only because he is "good for her brand."

According to the website's insider source, staying in the relationship is a calculated career move for Gomez, who is being encouraged by her team to stay with Bieber

"Selena and Justin's relationship isn't the fairytale romance they'd like their fans to believe it is," a friend of the couple told the website. "Justin's heart is with Selena because she's his first true love, but Selena is pretty much just riding out the relationship because she knows he's good for her image."

The former Disney darling has spent the last year trying to slowly transition to more adult roles without alienating her younger fans, just as Bieber's team has made an effort to show that the now-legal singer is maturing. Despite both their efforts, their fanbase is still primarily made up of tweens and young teens, but it's a powerful market and Bieber remains one of the most popular performers in the music scene today. Gomez's team reportedly believes Bieber's popularity has given her career opportunities she otherwise wouldn't have had.

"Let's just say that if for some reason Justin's star ever fell, Selena would drop him immediately," the source revealed to the website.

Requests for comment to Gomez's rep have not been returned at this time.

WATCH: 'Saved By The Bell' Actress Makes Bizarre Statements

In a bizarre video posted on TMZ, "Saved by the Bell" star Lark Voorhies denied her mother's claims in a recent People magazine story that she is suffering from bipolar disorder. But Voorhies was hardly coherent in the video shot in Los Angeles this week, where she appeared in a parking lot of some sort with a male friend.

When asked whether the People magazine story was true, Voorhies stammered out: "Well I think it quite comical... I'll put it to you like this, outside contract, everything is funny. Beautiful pictures though, don't you think?"

The 38-year-old actress appeared to be dazed and had difficulty completing her sentences. When asked about her spirituality, Voorhies said: "We're all built on it. We're all attuned to its calling and informant connection. I think that pretty much completes the statement regarding that context."

Voorhies played Lisa Turtle on the long-running hit '90s series "Saved By the Bell." Earlier this month, the star's mother, Tricia Voorhies, said she was worried for her daughter's health. "There are things that have traumatized her. I care deeply about my daughter and I want her to resume her life."

Watch the video below to see Voorhies' reaction:

Ben Affleck, Matt Damon: Reunited And It Feels So Good!

Best buds Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were spotted out and about in Santa Monica, Calif., yesterday (Oct. 24), attending a business meeting for a new project they're working on.

That's right! The "Good Will Hunting" writers are reuniting for another film, which is set to star Damon and Affleck's brother, Casey Affleck. The "Argo" actor will direct the movie about New England's most notorious gangster, James "Whitey" Bulger.

Damon portrays Bulger in the biopic, while Casey will play the mobster's brother, Billy.

“There’s a first draft and we’re still working on it. It’s a movie I really want to make but it’s really a tough story because it’s too long,” Affleck explained of the Boston-based film. “I really want to wait to get it right. You can’t f**k up Whitey Bulger. That’s it, that’s the only thing that will be remembered for the rest of your career."

And Affleck, who has directed three incredible movies thus far, including "The Town" and "Gone Baby Gone," says he's got some competition when it comes to the Bulger film -- and it's in the form of Mark Wahlberg.

“I know there are other guys out there who want to make the movie," Affleck said, adding, "So do you want to be second and diminish the appetite?”

PHOTOS: Sofia Vergara's Dress Might Just Be A Long Shirt

Sofia Vergara, we know you know you're sexy. You wear curve-hugging dresses like it's your job, tweet out your NSFW wardrobe malfunctions and have the guts to tell interviewers, "I know [my breasts] have opened doors for me, let’s be real."

But in case we'd forgotten, the "Modern Family" star stepped out on Wednesday night in a dress that showed off her stunning figure... because it was almost short enough to be a shirt. The occasion was a VIP reception for Domingo Zapatas, a hot new artist whose latest work includes covering Vergara with body paint -- which seems apropos, given that Vergara's dress for the event was practically painted on.

Paired with black tights and boots, Sofia's frock, while stunning, begs the question (and accompanying flowchart): "Am I Wearing A Dress?" The chart, a riff off the beloved "Am I Wearing Pants?" chart published last year, acts as a cheat sheet for women getting dressed in dresses so short they might as well be shirts.

It was also the first thing we thought of when we glimpsed Sofia's latest outfit.

So check out the actress below and follow the chart: is Sofia really wearing a dress?

Cher Lashes Out At Sharron Angle

0

Cher took to Twitter to lash out at former Nevada GOP Senate candidate Sharron Angle on the issue of abortion Thursday.

Angle, who made an unsuccessful bid against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid last election cycle, sparked controversy with remarks she made while defining her pro-life stance. HuffPost's Sam Stein reported on what she said in 2010:

In a radio interview Angle did in late June [of 2010], the Tea Party favorite re-affirmed her pro-life sensibilities (rigid, as they are, even within Republican circles), when she insisted that a young girl raped by her father should know that "two wrongs don't make a right." Much good can come from a horrific situation like that, Angle added. Lemons can be made into lemonade.

Here's what Cher had to say on Twitter early Thursday morning:

The harsh words from Cher come on the heels of Indiana GOP Senate candidate Richard Mourdock drawing intense criticism from both sides of the aisle by saying pregnancy resulting from rape is "something God intended."

Kristen Stewart Can Relate To Her 'Twilight' Character's Love Triangle

Kristen Stewart's dalliance with "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders clearly didn't sit well with fans.

Even Donald Trump is upset about Stewart's indiscretion and the pain it likely caused her longtime beau, Robert Pattinson. "Robert Pattinson should not take back Kristen Stewart," Trump tweeted. "She cheated on him like a dog & will do it again--just watch. He can do much better!"

But at a fan event for "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" in Tokyo Wednesday, Stewart discussed her "Twilight" heroine's tangled relationships with vampire Edward and werewolf Jacob, revealing that she could relate to Bella's predicament and thus casting a sympathetic light on her own.

"As a woman, I think it's really important not to discredit feelings," she said (via Us Weekly), adding that she understands her character's feelings for more than one man. "There weren't too many difficulties with the whole love triangle thing. I mean, she needs Jacob in her life."

"If you can get past conventions and what everyone else is thinking, then you can have what you want," she continued. "[Bella, Edward and Jacob] get to a point where they get to have everything and that's nice."

While Stewart appears to have reconciled with Pattinson in real life, some moviegoers are still rooting for his onscreen nemesis.

"I've made my decision.... #TeamJacob," Larry King tweeted last week.

Candid Shots Of Music Icons

Behind, or in front of, or some chess move away from every great musician, is a great photographer, hunched in the shadows. In the case of the greats of the 1960s and 70s -- whether it was Joplin, Lennon, or Dylan -- that person click-clicking somewhere nearby was probably David Gahr.

From Oct. 26 until Nov. 11, at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in Soho, a selection of black and white prints by the late, former Time photographer will be displayed to the public for the first time in large format. The candids in "David Gahr, Legacy Of A Master Photographer" include a shot of Joni Mitchell waving from a lawn at the Newport Folk Festival in 1967, and a young Bruce Springsteen outside a New Jersey storefront, swarmed by female teenage fans.

Even at the Morrison, a gallery that specializes in the ephemera surrounding music legends, photographers usually cede top-billing to those in their lenses. Not so in Gahr's case. An intellectual and gifted writer, he was a bit of a legend himself: a rock star's rock photographer, who famously turned down an offer from a Columbia University doctoral program to work in a Sam Goody store, photographing the celebrities who swung through.

In 2008, after Gahr passed away at the age of 85, the New York Times attributed his popularity among his subjects -- who were often also his friends -- to "what they saw as a desire to elevate rather than merely capture them." It's hard not to do the math on the modern inversion of that balance as seen in today's tabloid industry, where stars are rarely elevated, or even merely captured, but usually caught, drawn and quartered. (Just google "Britney Spears" if you're in need of a primer). Scrolling through Gahr's photos, we can't help but wonder who our analogs for these elevated men and women would be.

We've posted a preview of the Morrison exhibit below, captioned with quotes by Gahr. Let us know what you think: is this sort of compassionate photography dated, or a sight for sore eyes?

Vanity Fair: Paul Rudd on Stuttering, Bullying, and How He Still Uses Humor as a Defense Mechanism

0
0

By Bennett Marcus, Vanity Fair

2012-10-24-paulrudd.jpg

The first-ever Paul Rudd All Star Bowling Benefit on Monday raised funds for Our Time, an organization that helps young people who stutter bolster their confidence and communication skills. So how did this become the "Paul Rudd" bowling benefit?

The actor explained that he found out about the organization six years ago, while doing research for a play in which his character stuttered.

"I got to know the kids, and I came to some of their meetings and learned about the foundation," Rudd told VF Daily at the event at Lucky Strike in Manhattan. "And I think playing a character who had a really bad stutter, I kind of, for the first time, really approached this affliction from the point of view of somebody who suffers from it," he said.

"I started thinking how hard it is to be a kid anyway, how hard it is to kind of talk with anybody, regardless of how old you are, but then to have a stutter, and have to contend with bullies, and, you know, just general confidence and security, that is also shaky when you're growing up. I just really was blown away by these kids and was awed by them, really. So much so that I'm now on the board, and the play ended, but I'm still involved with the group."

While he himself didn't stutter, Rudd admitted he did get picked on his fair share. "I had moments, I remember, being a kid," he said. "I moved around to so many places when I was little. I mean, up until the age of 10 I had lived in three different states, I had gone to many different schools, and so I was always trying to acclimate into new scenarios and settings, and I got teased for certain things." Rudd quickly learned to use humor to win people over. "I think that was probably the way that I kind of tried not to get my ass kicked, or at least make friends, you know, with new kids so I would be accepted. That was probably my defense mechanism. Still is."

Despite having his very own bowling tournament, Rudd is not an avid practitioner of the sport--although he was a member of a league back in high school--and does not have his own ball or shoes. "I just have my own wrist guard. And my own gallon of Purell," he told VF Daily. "Isn't that the thing they say about bowling balls? They're literally the filthiest things on earth," he said, laughing.

The benefit was designed so that celebrities like Mariska Hargitay, Mehcad Brooks, Fisher Stevens, Anthony Rapp, Rachel Dratch, and Eve Plumb each headed up a team of kids from Our Time.

"I'm a crap bowler," Amy Ryan admitted. "But, you know, I've got a lot of gusto, and I've got a lot of will power," she added. She also had a possibly fractured toe. "But I'm still going to bowl, and we're going to win! I'm going to take Paul Rudd down tonight," she said.

The Hunger Games' Alexander Ludwig freely admitted to being horrible at bowling. "My strategy is I'm going to throw the ball down the court [sic], and hopefully something happens. I'm pretty horrendous," Ludwig said. He thought for a moment. "If I only had a bowling ball in The Hunger Games, Cato would not have done as well as he did." But maybe Cato could have used the ball to whack those wolf Muttations that gnawed him to death.

Consider us glamoured: Nicole Scherzinger struck a sexy pose as a vampire at "X Factor UK" contestant Ryan Clark's birthday party in London Wednesday night. The 34-year-old singer left little to the imagination as she flaunted her figure in fishnet stockings and a red latex corset, posing with fellow "X Factor U.K." judge Tulisa Contostavlos and competition finalists Lucy Spraggan and Clark.

Scherzinger, 34, is of course no stranger in knowing how to heat things up: she was a member of the raunchy all-female burlesque troupe the Pussycat Dolls from 2003 to 2010.

Annette Bourdeau: Why Isn't John Hawkes A Household Name Yet?

0
0

He's been nominated for an Academy Award and several SAG honors. He's won a host of other high-profile prizes, including an Independent Spirit Award for his chilling performance as a badass meth addict in Winter's Bone. He's been in everything from Wings to The Perfect Storm to Deadwood. And now he's generating Oscar buzz once again for his performance in The Sessions. So why isn't John Hawkes a household name yet?

The impressive actor has been steadfastly toiling away in Hollywood for decades now. Even if you don't know him by name, you probably recognize his face. He's had memorable guest spots on 24, The X Files and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (Remember? He was the Sunnydale High janitor who was possessed by a ghost.)

He can even do funny, as evidenced by his gig as Kenny's long-suffering brother Dustin Powers on Eastbound & Down and his self-deprecating quips as adult virgin Mark in The Sessions. Of course, Hawkes isn't the only one drumming up Oscar buzz for the latter. His co-star, Helen Hunt, is soaking up accolades as the sex therapist who helps the bedridden Mark lose his virginity.

If The Sessions doesn't propel Hawkes into the mainstream spotlight, his role as Robert Latham in November's epic Lincoln just might. He stars alongside Daniel Day-Lewis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and fellow underrated thespian Walton Goggins in the highly anticipated film/mega Oscar bait.

With Hawkes about to (hopefully) finally get his due, we decided to compile a list of our top five favorite Hawkes roles. It's probably one of the most diverse lists we've ever compiled. Really, is there anything this man can't play?

Sol Star in Deadwood. In a town full of hardened tough guys, Sol is a sweet -- almost naïve at times -- ray of sunshine. Even after all he's seen, he still maintains his decent nature and tries to keep his hot-headed pal Sheriff Bullock (Timothy Olyphant) in check.

Teardrop in Winter's Bone. Uncle Teardrop is a complex character. One minute he's uttering threats like "I said 'shut up' once already with my mouth," and the next he's tenderly rescuing Jennifer Lawrence's character from a band of menacing hicks. Hawkes was the perfect choice to capture Teardrop's many layers. In another actor's hands, Teardrop could have all too easily devolved into a one-dimensional caricature.

Dustin Powers on Eastbound & Down. The hair. The hair! With the wispy bowl haircut, Hawkes looks almost like a fresh-faced teenager. He perfectly balances Danny McBride's brash, mullet-sporting Kenny Powers, and their scenes together are some of the show's best. (Like the time Kenny asked Dustin to be his chauffeur, whilst Dustin was on the can.)

Patrick in Martha Marcy May Marlene. It's hard to think of a creepier character in recent movie history than Patrick, the brainwashing, murderous hippy cult leader. In spite of being dirty, super thin and almost sickly looking, Patrick still manages to exude a certain charm over his devoted minions. Whether he's strumming on his guitar or terrorizing the neighbors, Patrick always maintains his oddly hypnotic powers.

Dave in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. OK, this will probably be a controversial pick. But in my mind, the fact that Hawkes can still excel in a mediocre movie really speaks to his talent. He's just as good as Freddie Prinze Jr.'s (relatively) normal BFF as he is at playing psychos and janitors. It's all about the range!

G4 Cancels 'Attack Of The Show'

"Attack Of The Show!" has been cancelled.

According to TV Guide, two of G4's most popular shows will not be returning after December with "X-Play" being nixed as well. The network, which is undergoing a makeover, is sad to see both shows go.

"'Attack of the Show' and 'X-Play' have been important for G4, and we want to acknowledge the creative people who have helped inspire and showcase the phenomenon of gamer culture," G4 Media general manager Adam Stotsky said. "With more than 3,000 episodes aired between them, we have more than enough great material to honor these innovators and their amazing contributions as we bring both shows to a close."

According to a press release, the network is being rebranded and will "move into a more upscale, sophisticated guy TV space" with the possibility of being named "G4Men."

"Attack Of The Show!" hosted by Candace Bailey and Sara Underwood, focuses on pop culture and new technology reviews. The show premiered in 2005.

Meanwhile, "X-Play" centers solely on video games. Adam Sessler was the original host when the show first aired in 1998, with Morgan Webb and Blair Herter serving as current hosts and Kristin Adams and Jessica Chobot going on to guest host.

Levi Johnston, Bristol Palin's ex-boyfriend and father of her son Tripp, is set to marry his girlfriend Sunny Oglesby this weekend.

The couple will tie the knot after dating "for about a year and a quarter," a source told Us Weekly.

Johnston and Oglesby welcomed a daughter, Breeze Beretta, in September 2012. Palin wished the couple "the best" despite having a rocky past with Johnston, including more than one breakup and a custody battle over their son.

"Sent them some flowers today when I heard the news!" Palin said after the birth of Johnston's daughter. "Wish them the best, Tripp will be excited to hold her!"
