Obama Gives Jay-Z Parenting Advice

Barack Obama has been doing a good amount of radio interviews lately, and a DJ finally asked him the question on the lips of many a hip-hop fan: What do the president and Jay-Z talk about?

In a wide-ranging interview with Cleveland's z107.9, Obama said he gives the rapper a bit of advice on the parenting front. "I made sure that Jay-Z was helping Beyonce out [with the baby]," he said. "And not leaving it all with mom and the mother-in-law."

Jay-Z and Beyonce recently had their first daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.

Obama and Beyonce and Jay-Z's friendship has been a hot topic in recent weeks. The star couple hosted a lucrative fundraiser at the 40/40 Club and Jay appeared in a new campaign video. In the new ad, Jay describes Obama as a vital symbol of hope. The rapper's dialogue is intercut with footage from the Made In America festival, where the president introduced Jay via a video and said the rapper and businessman is a prime example of the American dream.

"I’ve gotten to know these guys over the first several years," Obama said on z107.9. "They’re good people. They're down to earth. Beyonce could not be sweeter to Michelle and the girls. So they’re good friends. They really are down-to-earth folks. We talk about the same things I talk about with all my friends."

The president also said he prefers Jay-Z's "My First Song" over "99 Problems," because the former track reminds him "to always stay hungry." Take a listen below:

The latest "Paranormal" iteration is leading this weekend's box office. "Paranormal Activity 4" brought in $15 million from the 3,412 theaters it played.

While it was a strong showing for the weekend, the last film in the franchise, "Paranormal Activity 3," had a record-breaking $54 million opening. THR reports that "Paranormal Activity 4" is on track for a $33.5 million weekend, on pace for a third place finish behind the third movie in the series and "Paranormal Activity 2," which dialed up a $40.7 million opening weekend in 2010.

Ben Affleck's highly acclaimed "Argo," had a strong second weekend, bringing it to number two at the box office. The film earned $5.1 million for a cumulative total of $36.7 million.

Other box office leaders include Liam Neeson's thriller "Taken 2," which grossed $4.3 million -- on pace to break $100 million this weekend. Prolific actor Tyler Perry's latest, "Alex Cross," made $4 million on Friday for a number four spot.

PHOTO: Mena Suvari Goes A Little Cutout Crazy

Even though Mena Suvari generally looks flawless on the red carpet, the actress has been known to venture into wardrobe malfunction territory (we're assuming she's learned to avoid sheer fabrics by now though). So when we saw her latest outfit, we began to worry that she may have been tempting the wardrobe malfunction gods yet again.

The recent divorcée attended the Foundry LA store launch party in a black cutout dress. And, just to be clear, we're not talking your typical side panel peek-a-boo, but four strategically-placed openings that revealed the top half of her bust and her stomach. Mena must have had to tread pretty carefully all night to keep that thing in place...

Between this dress and the black number she wore that appeared to stay in place by sheer magic, we've decided that the 33-year-old must have made a deal with the wardrobe malfunction devil. Plus, over-the-top, flirty cutouts seem to be the trend du jour these days. Gwyneth Paltrow gave the risky look a spin last week in her own barely-there LBD, so we're guessing we'll be seeing a lot more of these types of dresses in the near-future. (But hopefully none that look like this one.)

We're still on the fence regarding how we feel about these revealing cutout ensembles -- particularly Mena Suvari's version. Check out the photo below and tell us what you think of the trend.

LOS ANGELES -- Drivers are being warned to avoid sections of a Southern California freeway that will be shut down this weekend for filming of the third installment of the "Hangover" movie franchise.

Sections of the 73 Freeway in coastal Orange County will see staggered closures until 7 p.m. Sunday.

Lori Olin, a spokeswoman for the San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor, tells the newspaper the agency will receive at least $25,000, including location fees.

The 2009 blockbuster "The Hangover," about an ill-fated bachelor party trip to Las Vegas, earned over $400 million worldwide. Its 2011 sequel was also a mega hit.

Hot mama!

Reese Witherspoon showed off her post-baby body yesterday (Oct. 19) as she spent the afternoon shopping with her son, Deacon, who turns 9 on Oct. 23. The mommy-son duo stopped by The Gap before grabbing some Jamba Juice in Santa Monica, Calif.

The new mom, 36, who gave birth to her first child with husband Jim Toth, son Tennessee James, on Sept. 27, was all smiles as she flaunted her svelte figure in tight, cropped jeans and a checkered shirt.

Baby Tennessee has yet to be photographed while the family nests at home with their new addition.

"Everyone is bonding with the baby. And Jim has had a lighter workload and has been spending a lot of time at home with the baby as well," a source close to Witherspoon told People, with a family friend adding, "He was just over the moon and really excited to become a dad."

Quick, someone ring the alarm!

Arnold Schwarzenegger looked to be asleep at the wheel while driving around in Hollywood, Calif., yesterday (Oct. 19). X17online.com has photos of the actor-turned-politician, 65, letting out a great, big yawn as he tried to stay awake for the remainder of his ride home.

Sleepy is an understatement -- the Governator needs a bed ... pronto!

Perhaps he's tired of all the hype surrounding his memoir, "Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story," which surprisingly seems to be putting its readers to sleep as well. The book only sold 21,000 copies in its first week.

WATCH: Lil Wayne Reps The Giants At AT&T!

Rap superstar Lil Wayne may hail from New Orleans, but when it comes to baseball, it looks like he reps San Francisco.

At game six of the World Series playoff game between the San Francisco Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals, the rapper led the crowd at AT&T Park in "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the seventh inning stretch, while wearing a Giants jersey, gloves and hat.

"Just sung 'take me out to the ball game' @ the Giants game!!!," he tweeted after the game. "A true life highlight! I thank San Fran for rokkin wit me!"

So, why the San Francisco Giants? (Besides the fact that it's obviously the greatest team in the nation.) According to Lil Wayne's twitter account, the rapper is friends with infielder Ryan Theriot who left the Cardinals to join San Francisco this season. No word on how the two became friends, but Theriot is a Louisiana native, as well.

"Props to my homie Ryan Theriot and the Giants!!" tweeted Wayne after Friday's game five. "2 mo! Great game Zito!"

Two days later, he was on the field at AT&T.

The rapper is a frequent tweeter, especially when it comes to sports. Besides his shout-outs to the orange and black, Wayne has also recently tweeted about Louisiana State University football, swimmers Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, the NFL referee lockout, tennis player Andy Roddick and football player Eric LeGrand.

Check out Lil Wayne's performance at AT&T Park in the video below. And as Lil Wayne says, go Giants!

The Beek Talks Season 2 Of 'Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23'

Tuesdays are about to get a whole lot funnier. After an agonizingly long wait, ABC is debuting TV's most hilarious comedy double act in years by pairing "Happy Endings" with "Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23" (Season 2 premieres Tues., Oct. 23 from 9 p.m. ET).

Not only does HuffPost TV have Maggie Furlong's a hilarious interview with "Happy Endings" MVP Casey Wilson to whet your appetite, we also caught up with James Van Der Beek, who plays himself, Dreama Walker (June) and executive producer Nahnatchka Khan of "Apartment 23" to find out more about what's in store for our favorite gang of apartment-dwelling lunatics in Season 2.

Naturally, there are spoilers ahead, so turn back now if you want to be surprised by the show's upcoming insanity.

June Gets A Job
Farewell, coffee shop! "June finally, after a long struggle, gets a job back on Wall Street, which she moved to the city for and lost in a day," showrunner Nahnatchka Khan previewed. "She finally makes it back, so once she gets in, it’s like, ‘How do I manage this for the first time?’ and Chloe [Krysten Ritter] really helps her with that, surprisingly. June immediately makes an office nemesis and Chloe tells her how to deal with having a nemesis, basically like Hannibal Lecter, where she tells her what’s in the nemesis’ mind."

Dreama Walker was excited about the opportunity -- especially the costume: "Of course, everyone that I work with is quirky and very strange, and we’ll see how long the job lasts," she teased. "I’m hoping it lasts for a while; I quite like pencil skirts, I didn’t know this, but have come to find out I quite enjoy wearing a business suit every once in a while. I love the fact that my character’s in finance because that’s not a very feminine sort of industry, so I love that June is committed to that."

Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places
Romance is apparently on the horizon for both June and Chloe this season: "Chloe is gonna meet a guy who finally shows her that men are for more than just sex, so that’s gonna be interesting for her. She’s like, 'Men are people? What? No!’ So that’s gonna mess with her mind," Khan said. "And Dreama’s gonna start dating. She’s dating a lot of guys in the city and moving on past her fiancé, and we have sort of a percolating thing with one of the main characters that we’re gonna start to tease out."

Walker was happy to reveal the identity of said percolating suitor -- her coffee shop boss, Mark: "Mark [Eric André] is really moving in. Mark has all of a sudden decided he has a thing for me, so that’s happening. There’s one episode coming up that I’m particularly excited about, but we’ll see what takes place. Apparently, there’s a cute little love interest and it’s introduced in an adorable way. Right now in the episode we’re doing, Chloe and I are competing with the same guy in a game show that James is hosting. Chloe all of a sudden decided she wanted to date the guy I was dating -- it was only a matter of time before she was gonna jump in on that."

Yes, James Gets A Game Show
"We’re shooting an episode now where I decide that the dating game show I hosted in Belgium -- the producers just won’t listen to me -- so I decide to use Chloe and June as guinea pigs for my own game show," Van Der Beek explained. Khan described the show as along the same lines as "The Bachelor."

A Twisted Thanksgiving
"There is the most wrong Thanksgiving episode of anything ever shot which comes up; completely politically incorrect, totally up our alley," Van Der Beek teased. Walker explained: "June goes to Chloe’s parents’ house for Thanksgiving and fakes being in a wheelchair to earn back the sympathy and the respect of Chloe’s mother, which is ludicrous and ridiculous and hilarious."

James Van Der Beek: World's Sexiest Man?
After wrapping up his "Dancing With The Stars" storyline (which Van Der Beek says "ends spectacularly; I’m not gonna tell you whether it ends spectacularly well or not ..."), James has set his sights a little higher this season.

"He’s gonna try and get on the cover of People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive," Khan said. "Chloe takes over as managing editor of People for three days to try and get him on the cover. She just comes in and fires two people and says she’s been transferred from the London office."

And More Madness ...

Van Der Beek: "We explore the realm of a Halloween party, which fake James throws, except he doesn’t like to be scared, so he throws a positivity party -- only happy costumes are allowed. He’s an angel, and Luther’s a cherub ... Mark, in some terrible lapse of judgment, starts asking James for advice on relationships and life and love. The poor guy. So there’s a lot of hijinks attached to that. Crissy (Nora Kirkpatrick) and Steven (Tate Ellington), who were in the wedding episode last year, they come back. We just finished shooting that. Crissy's got a bun in the oven, is it James’? We don’t know ..."

Walker: "Chloe has an episode where she tries to be more demure like me and I teach her how to try and find a good man, the right kind of man who will put a ring on her finger one day. So she has an episode where she tries to wear cotton little sundresses and be like me. And of course, it fails miserably, but it’s very funny to watch because it’s super unnatural. We have some episodes from last season that are airing that I’m just still trying to remember, but they’re all very, very funny."

"Don't Trust The B----- In Apartment 23" airs Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Money Trouble?

It's been nearly a year since Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore announced their split and yet neither spouse has officially filed divorce papers, leaving many people wondering what's taking so long.

According to the New York Post, disagreements regarding the financial terms of the divorce settlement may be to blame for the hold-up.

"Two And A Half Men" star Kutcher was the highest-paid actor on TV last year, raking in some $24 million -- considerably more than Moore. However, he reportedly does not want to give his estranged wife a big pay-out in the divorce settlement. Sources told the New York Post that the couple's lawyers are trying to negotiate the settlement privately to avoid going before a judge in what would no doubt be a very public court dispute.

Moore announced her plans to divorce Kutcher in November 2011, after rumors circulated that he had a one-night stand with a 22-year-old woman in San Diego during the couple's sixth anniversary weekend.

Recently, Kutcher has been seen with actress Mila Kunis -- his former "That '70s Show" co-star -- sparking rumors that the pair are dating, though neither has confirmed the relationship.

If Kutcher is forced to fork over a large settlement, he certainly wouldn't be the first star to do so. Click through the slides below to see six other expensive splits.

The Best Rap Album Of The Year

-- Kendrick Lamar, "good kid, m.A.A.d city" (Interscope Records)

Kendrick Lamar is an up-and-coming rapper hailing from Los Angeles with a reputation already built through the underground scene as one of hip-hop's best lyricists.

With the backing of Dr. Dre, the socially conscious emcee continues to enhance that stature on "good kid, m.A.A.d city," a cohesive album filled with classic gems. He takes his storytelling ability to a higher level on his major label debut, a follow-up to his 2011 independent release, "Section.80," that received positive reviews.

On his new offering, Lamar's rap cadences are finely in sync with the stellar production by Pharrell, Tha Bizness, Hit-Boy, Just Blaze and others. The album is an open book of soulful stories that are intertwined through entertaining and thought-provoking skits, with Lamar telling several compelling moments of his upbringing in Compton, the gritty city southeast of downtown Los Angeles.

Lamar recalls when he was engulfed in a persuasive environment, running the streets with disobedient friends on "The Art of Peer Pressure." That song seamlessly connects with "Money Trees," where 25-year-old Lamar and guest Jay Rock eloquently rap in detail about a young man's mentality to commit home invasions with the hope of becoming a rap star.

"Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst," which is 12 minutes long, is a combination of two songs that brilliantly tells three different emotional stories. Lamar is also strong on songs like "Real," "(Expletive), Don't Kill My Vibe," "Swimming Pools (Drank)" and the Drake-assisted "Poetic Justice," which samples Janet Jackson's "Any Time, Any Place."

Clark Kent Quits The Daily Planet

Breaking: Clark Kent is out at The Daily Planet.

According to USA Today, Kent leaves his beloved newspaper job in "Superman" issue 13 after becoming disillusioned with the state of journalism in 2012. As "Superman" comic writer Scott Lobdell told the paper, don't expect to see Kent get a job at The Daily Star.

"Rather than Clark be this clownish suit that Superman puts on, we're going to really see Clark come into his own in the next few years as far as being a guy who takes to the Internet and to the airwaves and starts speaking an unvarnished truth," Lobdell said. Apparently, the idea is that Kent could start a website akin to Drudge Report or The Huffington Post. (Welcome aboard, Clark.)

This isn't the first time Kent/Superman has left The Daily Planet. As Comic Book Resources pointed out, the fictional newspaper was purchased by Galaxy Broadcasting System in 1971, and Kent became a news anchor. Meanwhile, in the upcoming film "Man Of Steel" -- which reboots the Superman myth for 2012 audiences -- Clark Kent is shown working in "Deadliest Catch"-like conditions on a boat. Despite that auspicious start, it should be noted that famed Daily Planet editor Perry White does appear in the film (he's played by Laurence Fishburne), as does intrepid reporter Lois Lane (Amy Adams).

Why Is Robert Pattinson So Sad?

If there's one thing Robert Pattinson does well, it's brood.

The 26-year-old actor definitely has the market cornered when it comes to looking depressed and inexplicably attractive at the same time. Is Pattinson competing for saddest looking photo with Kim Kardashian's cat Mercy, or is he really bummed that Kristen Stewart isn't by his side on the first stop of the "Breaking Dawn: Part 2" press tour?

The actor showed up solo to Sydney, Australia -- as Stewart is doing press in Japan -- and posed for some hilariously sad-looking photos by the Sydney Harbor.

Pattinson and Stewart recently reconciled after a brief break prompted by Stewart's very public cheating scandal. The couple were recently spotted together for the first time in Los Angeles, but it looks like Pattinson can't bear being apart from his girlfriend.

Check out Robert Pattinson looking as sad as ever:

Judge Dismisses Brian Austin Green's Lawsuit Against Former Girlfriend

Brian Austin Green's attempt to sue his estranged girlfriend Vanessa Marcil has backfired. TMZ reports that a Los Angeles Country Superior Court judge has dismissed the television star's lawsuit against his former lover and "90210" co-star for a $200,000 loan he allegedly lent her in 2000.

Not only did the judge rule that the statute of limitations had passed on the loan, it was also suggested that Marcil could "seek monetary sanctions from Green" for filing a "frivolous lawsuit" in the first place.

Green, 39, split from Marcil, 44, shortly after their now-10-year-old son Kassius Lijah was born, in March 2002. In 2004, Green began dating "Transformers" actress Megan Fox when she was just 18 years old (he was 30 at the time); the pair married in Hawaii in 2010.

Green and Fox welcomed their first child together, son Noah Shannon, last week.

The spotlight may love Honey Boo Boo, but apparently the 7-year-old reality star is growing tired of living life under it.

In an interview with HLN's Dr. Drew, Alana Thompson, the star of "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," awoke from pretending to be asleep to declare that she doesn't like being on TV. Why? "Because fans come up to me and I hate it," Alana said.

Alana and Mama June, who's also known as 'Coupon Queen,' did a media blitz on a recent trip to Los Angeles. The duo stopped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live" where Alana proclaimed Barack Obama as her pick for president, responded to a viral Christopher Walken video and filmed at Lisa Vanderpump's Villa Blanca. It was there where Honey Boo Boo met "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" scene-stealer, Giggy.

Did Matt Bomer Lose Major Movie Role Because He's Gay?

$
0
0

Author Jackie Collins thinks gay Hollywood actors have difficulty landing "macho" roles once they come out and she points to hunky actor Matt Bomer, who she claims lost out on the role of Superman simply because he is gay, as a prime example.

Collins spoke with Gaydar Radio about Bomer being overlooked for the role of Clark Kent in the defunct 2003 project "Superman Flyby," The Advocate reported.

"Matt Bomer, who is the most gorgeous looking guy and the star of 'White Collar,' he had not come out of the closet, but people in the know knew he was gay,” Collins tells Gaydar Radio. "His audition tape went in and he called up the agent and somebody didn’t like him and told [the producers] he was gay. They said, ‘No, no, we can’t cast you.’ The reason he didn’t get cast was because he was gay.”

Collins believes that in Hollywood, if a man comes out as gay, it affects his public persona. "If Justin Bieber said he was gay, he'd lose all his little girl fans," Collins says. "It's a sad fact of life. So a lot of them get married and have a couple of kids and pretend to be straight."

Bomer's private life has been brought up in casting conversations before, like when his name was tossed into the ring for the big-screen adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis said that Bomer, who has been hotly linked to a multitude of "Fifty Shades of Grey" casting rumors, would be "absolutely ludicrous" as Christian Grey, the kinky sadomasochist who seduces young Anastasia Steele.

"Okay I'll say it. Matt Bomer isn't right for Christian Grey because he is openly gay. He's great for other roles but this is too big a game." the "American Psycho" writer tweeted in August. "I think Matt Bomer is incredibly handsome and a good actor but I think he comes off totally gay in White Collar. And that is why no to CG..."

Bomer first came out as gay in February and, earlier this month, he discussed growing up gay when honored at gay student advocacy group GLSEN's Respect Awards.

"When I was in high school, there was no safe haven, there was no outlet for you to speak your mind," he said, according to E! News. "When that happens, when you aren't allowed to speak about who you are, one of the most authentic parts of who you are, which is who you love or who you're attracted to, feels invisible."
